On The Joe Rogan Experience — a podcast I highly recommend you check out if you enjoy uncensored, open-minded discussion on a bevy of topics — tech-start-up billionaire investor Naval Ravikant said the culture war is over, thanks in part to social media.

Guess who didn’t win?

Companies such as Twitter and YouTube have, of course, come under fire for censorship appearing to target conservative thought.

In fact, watch Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey admit (on Joe’s show, no less) to doing that very thing here.

Joe asked Naval:

“I wonder who has won the culture war? There’s certainly a battle that’s been won in terms of control of social media.”

No sh**!

Naval offered this:

“One great tweet I saw was, ‘The Left won the culture wars. Now they’re just driving around shooting survivors.’ This is unfortunate for conservatives, but technology is a force that also pushes left.”

It pushes left? Yessiree, Bob.

To Naval, left-wing politics and technology go hand-in-hand:

“Technology actually empowers the individual. The individual means that you have the breakdown of family structure and religion…but generally, technology leads the world left.”

Interesting idea.

The two noted the incredible cultural power of those who control the major sites. And man...are they ever right.

Take it away, Naval:

“The most powerful people in the world today are the people who are writing the algorithms for Twitter, Facebook and Instagram because they’re controlling the spread of information. They’re literally rewriting people’s brains. They’re programming the culture.”

Wow.

What an evolution: People categorized as geeks just a few years ago are now the cool kids.

And their disproportionate power is disconcerting.

Politicians, Naval said, are going to have to realize that those behind online media platforms are really pulling the country’s strings:

“[They need to] realize that these social media platforms are picking the next president, the next congressmen — they’re literally picking — and they have the power to pick, so they will be controlled by the government.”

Holy cripes.

Joe pointed out a disturbing recent turn of events over at the blue Social Network. A user shared a parody video of Nancy Pelosi (see the video below), and he got vilified and given up:

“What is even more disturbing is that Facebook gave up his information. For what? Because he said something funny?”

Not good.

We seem to be living in uneven times. In my opinion, the Left and the Right have, in the past, countered one another somewhat equally. But that’s going away due to the emerging and impending imbalance of power due to the imbalance of access. Conservatives have put themselves in the hands of social media; it could’ve been the new talk radio, but the censors in charge think the Right stinks. Add Left-controlled film & television and the mainstream media (here, here, and here), and what landscape remains?

What are your thoughts? Let us all know in the Comments section.

Sex Strike Activist Alyssa Milano Releases Abortion Map to Inform Hollywood Where They Should and Shouldn’t Film

Incensed over her failure to stop Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) from signing the state’s fetal heartbeat bill into law last month, but emboldened by her role in getting close pal and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden to flip on the Hyde Amendment, abortion queen and sex strike activist Alyssa Milano is on a new mission.

Variety reports on a state-by-state abortion map she collaborated on that will help inform Hollywood virtue signalers where they should and should not film:

In response to the introduction of multiple “heartbeat bills” across the country, actress and advocate Alyssa Milano has created a shoot location tool for filmmakers that lists the status of abortion legislation in all 50 states. The bills have caused uproar in Hollywood and inspired boycotts in production-heavy states like Georgia.

“Following the passage of a number of draconian attacks on a pregnant person’s right to choose in 2019, including those in states in which the motion picture and television industries conduct significant business, it has become apparent that those in our industry need to be able to make informed choices,” Milano and activist co-author Ben Jackson said in a mission statement accompanying the report.

The survey, published exclusively with Variety, is meant to help actors, producers, directors and studios decide “where it is safe for women to work.”

In addition to the toolkit/map, Milano is working with Atlanta’s (Democrat) mayor on an app that would pinpoint areas they believe progressive safe space Hollywood types in Georgia should avoid:

She is also working with Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms to develop an app location managers in Georgia could use that would guarantee not spending money in places that fund voter suppression or inequality, according to Variety.

There are Democrat governors in certain “under threat” and “most threatened” states who won’t like that the map was released. My state, for example, is controlled by pro-life Republicans in the state legislature but we have a pro-abortion Democratic governor here (Roy Cooper).

In April, Cooper vetoed a Born Alive bill that would have provided protections for babies who survive botched abortions. Because Republicans don’t have a super-majority here anymore, they tried but failed to fully override the veto.

In spite of the political makeup of this state, which for now ensures that pro-life legislation has no chance, Milano chose to list it as “under threat.”

Quite frankly, I wish she would have listed it as “most threatened” because I’d prefer sanctimonious Hollywood hypocrites like Milano be so outraged as to not step one foot inside this state.

I pray for so-called “feminists” like Alyssa Milano, who have made it their life’s mission to guarantee a woman’s “right” to terminate the life of their unborn child. Ghouls like Milano feel like states should prioritize cold hard cash ahead of protecting innocent unborn life. That she feels like that stance puts her on a higher moral ground than pro-life advocates speaks volumes about her character – and none of it good.

Kamala Harris Got Some Really Bad News About Her Campaign

Westlake Legal Group kamala-harris-the-root-SCREENSHOT-620x388 Kamala Harris Got Some Really Bad News About Her Campaign willie brown Polling Politics los angeles kamala harris Joe Biden Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story democrats debates California Bernie Sanders bad news 2020 election 2020 Democrat Primary

While polling of the general election is historically irrelevant at this point, Democrat primary candidates are currently competing in a much different arena. The Iowa caucuses are approaching and the first debates are only two weeks away. Things are about to heat up and whoever gains early momentum will have a large advantage down the stretch.

One of the 2020 lot currently in this dogfight is Sen. Kamala Harris. She burst onto the scene early in the race to much fanfare and a large launch ceremony. Since then, her star has faded and she’s now struggling just to get time in front of the cameras.

Her campaign is now getting some even worse news.

Going into the 2020 Democratic nomination contest, experts predicted that the relatively early primary in the huge state of California would provide a big boost to Sen. Kamala Harris’ presidential ambitions, but a new poll finds that if the race were held today, she wouldn’t even qualify for statewide delegates.

The survey from the Los Angeles Times/UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies found a wide-open race in California, with Joe Biden leading the pack with 22% among likely Democratic voters, Sen. Elizabeth Warren at 18%, Sen. Bernie Sanders at 17%, Harris at 13%, and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg at 10%.

That 13% is good enough to put her in fourth place. While double digits may seem respectable, this is her home state. If she can’t even qualify for delegates in the place she is supposed to be the most popular, that bodes horribly for her prospects in other states. California is also the largest prize in the Democrat primary and not getting a large chunk of it’s spoils would put her in a huge hole.

If she actually does that badly in California, it would be the end of her campaign. There would be no justification for going forward if the people who know her best don’t even support her. While this isn’t true in a general election (Trump obviously lost New York, for example), primaries are a different animal. You aren’t dealing with the normal partisan splits of blue and red states but a largely homogeneous landscape.

Harris’ struggles have surprised the political establishment. She checks all the right boxes from an inter-sectional standpoint and no doubt she assumed that would elevate her above figures like Biden and Sanders. Her politics are in the right place for the left-wing but her history in the criminal justice system (even though it’s far from good in the normal sense) has upset many liberals. Even deciding to enforce the law sometimes as a prosecutor is too much for a large percentage of the Democrat base.

There’s also the fact that Harris is an empty suit. She’s been in the Senate for all of five minutes, attempting to follow the same path as Barack Obama. Her rise to prominence is also littered with self-dealing and scandal. She had an affair with Willie Brown, then the Mayor of San Francisco. Harris was appointed to two state commissions during this time, although she laughably claims the affair had nothing to do with it.

Now, she’s facing headwinds she simply didn’t expect. If the numbers in California don’t turn around during the coming debate season, her campaign may be over before we even get to the second round of state votes.

Agriculture Dept. Employees Are Really Upset They Might Have to Live Among the Rubes in Flyover Country

Employees Are Really Upset They Might Have to Live Among the Rubes in Flyover Country washington D.C. spoiled Sonny Perdue Relocation Makes Sense Logical Kansas City Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story entitled Department of Agriculture democrats Cost Savings

Want an example of how out of touch many government workers are? Here you go.

Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue announced today that two research agencies would be re-locating to Kansas City. This makes perfect sense given that it puts the researchers much closer to the center of the industry they are supposed to be regulating. It also means the cost of living goes down for lots of these employees, which helps with wage adjustments later for the department. The overall cost of facilities and operations will drop as well.

This has apparently really upset the rank and file and they decided to stage this protest.

Unwanted? They are welcome to go find a new job if it’s that much of a hardship.

The simple fact is that federal workers are not entitled to live in D.C. and there are thousands upon thousands of others throughout the heartland already. If your lifestyle desires include living in a metropolis and paying $2K a month for a loft, that’s fine, but it’s not the taxpayer’s job to provide that for you.

There is simply no logical reason that so many federal departments need to be located in a city as expensive as Washington D.C. while being so far away from the industries they are involved in. Yes, there’s some farming in VA and Maryland, but nowhere near the amount in the South and Midwest. In this case, it’s just two research facilities.

This entire protest also comes off as nakedly elitist. It’s as if their lives are over because they might have to survive among the rubes outside of the North East corridor. Kansas City is not a 3rd world country. They’ve got internet, those color TV gadgets, and I even hear cars are thing there now.

All over the country, relocation at the behest of an employer is reality for private employees. You know what would happen if they turned their backs like this on their boss? They’d get fired. Time for these people to grow up. Be a team player or go find another job. That’s the beauty of living in a free country. You’ve got choices.

Video Surfaces Showing Joe Biden Saying Abortion Is Not a Right, Leaves a Gaping Hole In His Left Flank

To normal people who don’t view abortion as a righteous sacrifice, this is a good thing. But to the left-wing base of the Democrat primary, this could be pretty bad news for Biden.

A video from 2006 has surfaced, dug up by CNN, that shows Biden not only personally opposing abortion, but has him specifically saying it’s not a right.

“I’m a little bit of an odd man out in my party,” Biden said. “I do not vote for funding for abortion. I voted against partial birth abortion — to limit it — and I vote for no restrictions on a woman’s right to be able to have an abortion under Roe v. Wade. And, so I am — I made everybody angry. I made the right-to-life people angry because I won’t support a constitutional amendment or limitations on a woman’s right to exercise her constitutional right as defined by Roe v. Wade. And I’ve made the groups — the women’s groups and others — very angry because I won’t support public funding and I won’t support partial birth abortion.”

Biden also said he would have difficulty navigating the issue in a Democratic presidential field.

“It’s going to be very difficult,” Biden said. “I do not view abortion as a choice and a right. I think it’s always a tragedy, and I think that it should be rare and safe, and I think we should be focusing on how to limit the number of abortions. There ought to be able to have a common ground and consensus as to do that.”

I, for one, completely agree with Mr. Biden here. Abortion is not a choice or right and should not be treated as such. It’s the taking of innocent life and that’s a tragedy. We should absolutely do everything we can to limit and eventually eliminate it (outside of medical emergencies).

The problem is that no one in the Democrat party thinks that way today. At least not on the national stage.

Of course, Biden has thoroughly flip-flopped on the issue in the past week because he’s your typical listless, dumpster fire of a politician who will say or do anything to get elected. A little over ten years ago, he didn’t even think abortion is a right. Today, he’s saying U.S. taxpayers should pay for it. Try to make sense of that.

CNN and other outlets reporting the video are doing their best to downplay it, describing Biden’s about face as an “evolution.” The mainstream press do not want the former VP to be damaged because he is the preferred candidate of the more “moderate” liberal talking heads. Dig deeper into the left-wing press though and things start to get sketchier. HuffPost, for example, wrote a piece today about his “shaky record on reproductive rights,” which is typical Orwellian speak for killing babies in the womb.

Here’s why this matters.

Right now, Biden is in hiding. He pops his head out every few weeks and gives a low energy speech that he barely manages to remain lucid for. But pretty soon, he’s going to be taking punches from Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders on this issue. Anyone think they won’t go hard at Biden over once saying abortion isn’t a right? They are going to absolutely destroy him because the current Democrat primary field is rabidly, disgustingly pro-abortion up until the moment of birth (and perhaps beyond if you could ever get a straight answer on failed abortions).

Biden better enjoy the calm while it lasts because he can’t run from his record. The left-wing wants blood and they are going to get it when the debate season starts.

Chilling: Transgender Activist Lays Ground Rules for What ‘She’ Considers Allowable and Unallowable Speech

Westlake Legal Group CharlotteClymerHRC-620x345 Chilling: Transgender Activist Lays Ground Rules for What ‘She’ Considers Allowable and Unallowable Speech washington D.C. transgender shutuppery Politics North Carolina LGBTQ LGBT Human Rights Campaign Front Page Stories Front Page First Amendment Feminism Featured Story Featured Post democrats Culture Allow Media Exception

Human Rights Campaign spokesperson Charlotte Clymer. Screen grab via CBS This Morning.

It’s another day of the week that ends in “day”, and another day where a transgender woman believes they have the authority to set the ground rules on what is and is not allowable speech.

Today’s example is Charlotte Clymer, spokesperson for the progressive bullying organization better known as the Human Rights Campaign.

Chris Field from The Blaze sets the scene for how it all started:

Clymer set people off with this tweet (allegedly in response to recent statements by anti-vaccination advocates):

Now, many people (mostly conservatives — including me) initially believed that Clymer was referring to disagreements over beliefs on LGTBQ issues.

[…]

However, NOTHING in Clymer’s initial tweet said anything about vaccinations, and Clymer has a record of being an unreserved (and crude) trans advocate. So critics of the anti-free speech tweet had every reason to assume Clymer was pushing the typical left-wing propaganda.

Oh there’s zero question that that’s what Clymer was doing, as other tweets that came from her later made clear, like these:

Now, for most people who don’t have their heads stuck up their [word that rhymes with “molasses”],”hate speech” would be defined as something deliberately obscene or vulgar that may or may not have explicitly communicated a threat of physical harm. Like “I hope somebody rapes you so you can see what it’s like”, or “You should have been aborted” or “You’re a piece of Nazi trailer-trash.”

Examples of what could be considered expressly violent speech are “I’m gonna find you and hurt you” or “Better hope you’re never caught walking outside alone.” Things like that.

But in the eyes of the Charlotte Clymers of the world, any speech they find “offensive” is considered “hate speech.” That includes mere political disagreement, calling a transgender woman a man, advocating for a woman’s right to safe spaces in bathrooms, locker rooms, fitting rooms and the like, and/or going on record as stating you find it unfair that transgender women are allowed to compete in women’s sports.

People who don’t cotton to the radical transgender dogma – in particular biological women who are in positions of influence and/or power – suddenly become Public Enemy Number 1, and they must be named and shamed, burned in the social media public square, and exiled into obscurity.

And when you ask transgender activists for detailed specifics on what defines “hate speech” and what doesn’t, they oftentimes won’t answer:

As of this writing, Clymer has not answered those questions.

Clymer, of course, is not alone in this regard. Conservatives frequently find themselves on the receiving end of charges that they are “inciting violence” for the mere act of criticizing a Democratic politician, especially when that politician is a “progressive woman of color.”

In the end, these are all shutuppery tactics brought to you by the modern Democratic party and their activist allies on the left. These people have rarely met a Republican or conservative whose opinion they didn’t find “offensive” in some way, shape, or form.

So much for that whole “diversity” in thought thing, right? You will be made to conform – or else.

Red State‘s Brandon Morse wrote earlier this week about 180 CEOs – including Twitter’s Jack Dorsey and Bloomberg chair Peter Grauer – who signed on to a “Don’t Ban Equality” campaign that is designed to put economic pressure on conservative states to stop passing pro-life legislation.

The campaign was inspired, in part, by the fetal heartbeat bills that were signed into law last month in pro-life states like Georgia, Alabama, and Louisiana.

A refresher, via Fox Business:

The letter, which appeared as a full-page ad in the Monday edition of The New York Times under the titled “Don’t Ban Equality,” Opens a New Window. called on companies to “stand up for reproductive health care.” CEOs from media, fashion, beauty, food and tech companies were among those listed as signatories.

“Restricting access to comprehensive reproductive care, including abortion, threatens the health, independence and economic stability of our employees and customers,” the letter stated. “Simply put, it goes against our values, and is bad for business.”

In spite of intense pressure from Democrats, their MSM allies, and various social justice warrior movements, Georgia-based Delta Air Lines says they are staying out of the abortion debate:

Delta Air Lines is one of the largest employers in Georgia, but the airline’s chief executive said Tuesday the company will not take a stand on the state’s restrictive abortion law, which other corporate leaders have called “bad for business.”

[…]

“This is something that the courts need to settle and resolve, not corporate America. At least for us. I can’t win,” Delta Air Lines Chief Executive Officer Ed Bastian said at Recode’s annual Code Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona.

[…]

“We carry 200 million people a year, we have 80,000 employees. We cannot as a company take one group and put it over another group when you’ve got such an emotional — some would say almost religious — view as to what the right answer is,” he said.

This is the right approach. People across this country are getting fed up with corporations needlessly inserting themselves into political debates. Even more so that that, people are getting sick and tired of progressive bullying organizations like Human Rights Campaign and the ACLU dragging these companies into these debates.

Perhaps Delta learned their lessons on the “can’t win” drawbacks of corporate activism after what happened to them in the aftermath of their decision to cut ties with the NRA last year under pressure from gun control groups.

Delta’s decision not to get involved in the abortion debate will likely rankle leftists like abortion absolutist and actress Alyssa Milano, but if so it wouldn’t be the first time in recent weeks they’ve gotten on the left’s bad side. Just last month, Democrats were outraged over Delta fliers that made the air line’s anti-union stance crystal clear.

In the “good deeds” department, Delta recently provided free tickets to Alaska and Hawaii for Rodney Smith, Jr. of “Raising Men” lawn care service, who had a goal of mowing lawns (for free) for the elderly, handicapped, disabled, and veterans in all 50 states. With those tickets, Smith was able to reach his goal.

Yesterday, James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas ran an expose of how the social media application Pinterest blacklisted pro-life mega-site Life Site as “porn” and deleted Christian phrases and themes from autocomplete and from search results. Shortly after Project Veritas sent out their story by Twitter, their Twitter account was locked down for allegedly distributing communications belonging to another party. See Twitter Suspends Project Veritas for Revealing Pinterest Blocked Pro Life Website as Porn. This was a patently bullsh** ruling by Twitter…which is sort of par for the course these days…as it effectively outlaws investigative journalism on Twitter. No one believes they want to do that but we all know that they were acting to try to limit the damage to Pinterest.

Now YouTube, the same Mensa members who have been pulling down videos of Nazi atrocities on Holocaust sites in order to fight fascism, have jumped into the fray and deleted the Project Veritas video on the same subject. This is from my post (see above link) where the video was embedded:

This is how YouTube defended its action:

In a statement to Breitbart News, a YouTube spokesman said “The privacy of our users is important to us, that’s why we created robust privacy guidelines. If someone feels their privacy has been violated on YouTube, they can file a privacy complaint and we will promptly remove the content if it violates our guidelines.”

What YouTube did was take a rule that is clearly intended to protect random persons from being identified on YouTube and turned it into a tool that makes any hidden camera or police body cam video a violation of terms of service. Except, as I said, we all know that is not what this is about. This is about controlling speech and suppressing political viewpoints that offend the snowflakes who make these calls.

Trump’s existence has driven the media absolutely insane.

We’ve now reached the point where Trump is being blamed for the attacks of a terrorist regime, not because he didn’t do enough or was negligent, but because he didn’t cave to their demands.

The background on this is that Iran attacked two tankers today, setting one ablaze and causing it’s crew to have to abandon ship. This is a further escalation of previous attacks over the last few weeks. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has confirmed the Iranian regime is behind the aggression and where it goes from here is still up in the air.

In a press conference Thursday afternoon, Pompeo said: “This assessment is based on intelligence, the weapons used, the level of expertise needed to execute the operation, recent similar Iranian attacks on shipping, and the fact that no proxy group operating in the area has the resources and proficiency to act with such a high degree of sophistication.”

He charged that Iran is working to disrupt the flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz and this is a deliberate part of a campaign to escalate tension, adding that the U.S. will defend its forces and interests in the region, although he did not elaborate.

Upon hearing the news, this is how The Washington Post’s Beirut Bureau Chief, who covers the Middle East, described it.

This is one of those tweets you have to read a few times to make sure it’s real. A mainstream press outlet is framing the attacks as Trump’s fault because he failed to “heed” the threats of the Mullahs. This would be akin to blaming Churchill for the Nazi invasion of France because he didn’t kowtow to Hitler’s demands upon taking office.

I guess it’d have been better if Trump sent pallets of cash to pay them off?

The subversiveness of Iranian propaganda in our media environment is not healthy. We saw it under Obama, where Ben Rhodes admittedly to running an echo chamber and duping journalists in order to push an Iran friendly nuclear deal. Qatar, who serves as a proxy for Iranian interests, basically has their own office at The Washington Post at this point. Much of the outrage over Qatari agent Jamal Khashoggi’s death served mostly to bolster Iranian interests by trying to harm the budding Arab alliance.

While the media taking the side of adversaries isn’t completely new, it’s reached a new level of grossness under Donald Trump. There should be some things that just aren’t done and shilling for a terrorist regime is one of them.

Mohamed Noor Will Serve a Long Prison Sentence for a Senseless Killing but a Lot of Politicians Should Be in the Same Cell With Him

The former Minneapolis police officer who shot and killed an Australian woman last summer is charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in the July 15, 2017 killing of Justine Ruszczyk Damond. Attorneys for Damond are working on a civil rights complaint and plan to file a lawsuit Monday, July 23, 2018, in federal court. (AP Photo/Jim Mone, File)

In a perfect world, Minneapolis police officer Mohamed Noor would never have been hired and Justine Damond Ruszczyk would be alive. But the world isn’t perfect and now Noor will serve 12½ years in prison, Ruszczyk is dead, and Minneapolis taxpayers are at least $20 million poorer.

Noor, a Somali immigrant, was recruited into the Minneapolis Police Department as part of a program designed to increase “diversity.” He went through a truncated training program and psychologists and fellow officers had lots of doubts about his suitability as a police officer.

In court documents filed this week, Hennepin County prosecutors argue that Noor’s own answers to questions in his pre-hire screening demonstrate that he was “unsuited for the job.”

After reviewing the court filing, former MPD officer Michael Quinn agreed.

“This man should have never made it through the field training program,” Quinn said.

Quinn ran the Minneapolis Police Training Academy during the 1990s. He said the incidents raise serious “red flags” about Noor’s ability to carry out the job.

Among them, prosecutors detail a minor traffic stop, writing in the court filing that Noor “pulled out his gun, carried it toward the car, and pointed it into the driver’s window at the driver’s head before uttering a word.”

Prosecutors also point to an evaluation completed by Noor’s field training officer, who wrote that “while police calls were pending, (Noor) drove around in circles, ignoring calls when he could have self-assigned to them.”

In his review, Quinn said Noor demonstrated a pattern of behavior that should have disqualified him from the job.

“To me, either one of those would have been the end of his employment,” Quinn said.

In addition to listing specific on the job incidents, prosecutors also bring in several details from Noor’s psych evaluation.

Prosecutors argue that Noor himself “reported disliking people and being around them,” and that he “self-reported disinterest in interacting with other people.”

The psych tests showed, according to court documents that Noor “is more likely to become impatient with others over minor infractions” and “is more likely to exhibit difficulties confronting subjects.”

Quinn said with those details, the department should not have forwarded Noor onto the field training program.

“We did everything we could to get those candidates through and look past small things,” Quinn said, recalling his time at the academy. “These are not small things in his case. These are things that when you look at what was written up in the psychological, these are things that are disqualifiers.”

But bureaucracies, much like living creatures, respond to positive and negative reinforcement. They move towards pleasure and away from pain. Pain here would have been firing one of the few Somalis to become a Minneapolis police officer and having to take the heated wokeness that would sure accompany it. So the path of least resistance was to push him through training, ignore the warning signs and the guidelines based on experience, and just hope nothing really bad happened over the next 20 or 30 years that he’d be on the force.

In didn’t turn out that way.

Roughly two months before the shooting, Noor put a gun to the head of a motorist pulled over for a minor traffic stop, according to the prosecution filing.

Noor stopped his squad on 24th Street west of Nicollet Avenue and got out “with his gun pulled and pointed downward,” the court document read, citing squad car video. “When the defendant approached the driver’s side of the stopped car, the first thing he did was point his gun at the driver’s head.”

Noor’s partner approached the stopped vehicle on the passenger side, also with his gun out of its holster but not pointing directly at the driver, the filing read.

An initial police incident report explained the reason for the stop: the officers saw the driver give the finger to a bicyclist and then pass a vehicle on the right without signaling.

Neither Noor nor his partner on that shift filed anything further or “documented their display of force or any justification for it,” the prosecution filing read. The driver was ticket for failing to signal, and the citation was dismissed after Noor failed to appear at a court hearing.

On the night of July 15, 2017, Justine Damond Ruszczyk, made two calls to 911. The first was at 11:27 p.m. followed by another at 11:35. She reported that she thought she heard a woman being assaulted or raped. Noor and his partner were dispatched to the scene. They arrived at the location by driving through an alley with their lights off. Noor reported to his dispatcher that the scene was safe. Damond Ruszczyk saw the police car an approached it on the driver’s side. Noor’s partner drew his weapon and kept it out of sight, Noor drew his weapon, leaned across his partner and fired a single shot striking Damond Ruszczyk in the abdomen, a wound that caused her to die on the scene.

The Blue Wall went up. Police officers refused to cooperate with the prosecutor. A search warrant looking for ‘bodily fluids, controlled substances, and writings’ was served on the residence of the victim. Body cameras were turned off. A story was concocted of something hitting the patrol vehicle and “fear of ambush.” Eventually a grand jury was impaneled and eventually Noor was indicted for third degree murder.

In April, Noor was convicted and last Friday he was sentenced.

Predictably, the narrative pushed was that Noor was only convicted because he was a Somali and an immigrant and he shot an attractive white woman.

Most of this critique is utterly false. The MPD did try to cover for Noor. And while convicting officers of homicide in on-duty killings is very rare, when it does happen they receive sentences very much like Noor’s even though those trials take place in different jurisdictions.

Nationally, only three other police officers have been convicted of murder for an on-duty death, said Phil Stinson, a criminologist at Bowling Green State University in Ohio who’s tracked the data since 2005. The average sentence for those murder convictions is 12 1/2 years in prison — the same as Noor’s sentence on Friday.

The only times police officers who were convicted in an on-duty death have received no prison time were for manslaughter cases where the officer shot someone and the bullet ricochet killed someone else, according to Stinson.

Since 2005, 104 police officers were charged in on-duty killings nationwide. And of those, 36 have been convicted of a crime, Stinson added, so it’s a small sample of cases to begin. He said the sentences for those cases ranged from no incarceration on the low end to 40 years in prison on the high end.

Jason Van Dyke, who was convicted of murder for shooting Laquan McDonald in Chicago was sentenced to about seven years.

In Colorado, James Ashby received a 16-year sentence for killing Jack Jacquez after a confrontation in 2014.

Roy Oliver, of Texas, was the officer who shot 15-year-old Jordan Edwards as he rode in a car after a party. He was sentenced to 15 years.

Van Dyke and Oliver are both white and their victims black. Ashby is also white and his victim was a Latino. So, if there is any lesson to be drawn from this it seems to be that white-cop-minority-victim is most likely to draw trial and conviction.

The bottom line here is that Minneapolis wokeness was just as much to blame for this death and the long prison term Noor is facing as anything that happened that Saturday night two years ago. A flawed political process virtually mandated the hiring of marginal candidates from the correct communities to serve diversity. A flawed bureaucratic process was created to rush these candidates through training and ignore obvious red flags that would have gotten other probationary officers fired. The people who conceived of and promoted this policy should have been at the defendant’s table with Noor at sentencing and they should be keeping him warm tonight because Noor may have pulled the trigger, but those people put the gun in his hand and gave him a badge that let him think shooting people was just fine and dandy.
