Syrian boys, right, sit on a pickup flash victory signs, as they pass next of a U.S. vehicle troops, left, on a road leading to the tense front line with Turkish-backed fighters, in Manbij, north Syria, Saturday, March 31, 2018. President Donald Trump’s unscripted public declaration this week about pulling out of Syria “very soon” while at odds with his own policy are unnerving for the Kurds in this context. U.S. troops first deployed in the area about 16 months ago, after Turkish-backed Syrian forces advanced on areas near Manbij, in a race for control of territories as IS militants collapsed. The deployment prevented repeated clashes between the two rival forces. (AP Photo/Hussein Malla)

A close friend of mine visited the D-Day Museum (now called the National WW II Museum) in New Orleans a few years ago. My friend has an encyclopedic knowledge of the D-Day landing. He’s the guy who can tell you what time each company level US unit’s landing craft dropped ramp on the beach. [A conversation with Mike might go like this: George Company, 116th Infantry? They went in on Omaha-Dog White. Ramp down at 0611. Right in front of an MG34 manned by the 352 Füsilierbataillon. They lost 2 officers and 37 men. The company won two Distinguished Service Crosses. Most ever by any infantry company on one day.*]  In short, he’s not a guy you want to f*** with because he can tell you where to go to get the data. He went through the museum and compiled a dozen or so pages of notes on errors in the exhibits He sent the director a lengthy email pointing out the errors and how they were a direct result of sloppiness, a lack of professionalism, and, quite possibly, the uncertain parentage of the director. He never heard back. Mike shared the email with a group of former Army guys (and a token Marine who is a West Point grad) I’m a part of and expressed his disappointment that the director had not answered  his missive. Another guy on the list, a now-retired multi-starred general, responded, “I agree, Mike, whenever someone I don’t know sends me an email telling me I’m either an idiot or a liar, I get right back to them.”

The point being, there are ways of convincing people who have common interests with you that they are in error and not all of them are going to be successful. Calling names and questioning the integrity and intelligence of those people has to be among the worst–particularly when it isn’t being done to deliberately troll the people you’re trying to convince.

Let me take that as a point of departure in considering today’s post by former RedState Editor-in-Chief Erick Erickson titled If You Could Stop Humping Trump’s Leg For Just a Minute, You Could See He Screwed the Pooch on This

Of course, the situation is more complicated than that and the President is not playing multi-dimensional chess. He’s just acting like a dumbass in this instance and now doubling down on stupid.

The PKK Kurds who are our battlefield allies in Northern Syria are, frankly, more loyal to us these past few years than the Turks have been, even without being part of NATO. By allowing Turkey in to kill the Kurds, despite the President’s lies now pretending his original statements never happened, the President has pissed off a terrorist organization that had actually been working with us. He’s going to create an Al Qaeda out of the Kurds like what happened with the Mujahideen in Afghanistan.

But wait…it gets better.

One of the things this group has been doing is ruthlessly fighting ISIS with us. In fact, they’ve been our ISIS jailers, or at least they were. They aren’t now. They’ve left the area or been killed. Turkey does not care about ISIS because when Turkey talks about wiping out the terrorists, they’re talking about the PKK, not ISIS.

So now ISIS can regroup. The PKK is making an alliance with Syria and Russia. Meanwhile, the Turks are firing at the United States’s positions in Northern Syria and a lot of Christians are going to die in the process. Yay for religious liberty.

The President of the United States, for reasons no one can really understand, decided he wanted out and wanted out immediately. Perhaps someone should have told him the withdrawal method is no more effective on the battlefield than it is in preventing pregnancy.

Our Syrian strategy has been deeply, deeply flawed. That is not the President’s fault. That is Barack Obama’s fault. But instead of bringing some rational order to the process, the President has brought even more chaos with this chaotic withdrawal. It is a chaos that will eventually find its way back to us.

All the President’s leg humpers are cheering this on as the President being bold, taking a stand, and bringing our troops home. The troops are still there, the President’s stand is more a half-assed leg raise by a Syrian shaped fire hydrant, and it is as bold as five year old off brand cayenne pepper. It is dumbassery with no logical explanation that defied the advice of all his senior advisers save for some idiot on Fox willing to get a lot of Americans killed in the name of ending endless wars.

This President got elected with a lot of people saying not to worry, he was surrounded by good people who would give him good advice. Most of those people fled the place and the President isn’t even willing to listen to the advice of the B,C, and D-listers around him now — let alone the few remaining Allstars. It’s going to be really hard to continue supporting a man who hasn’t ended endless wars, but endlessly inflamed war-torn areas with public policy dreamed up by a bunch of people banging on keyboards between the rebounds from humping his legs.

I don’t find this line of argument to particularly persuasive and a lot of the underlying assumptions are either counterfactual or highly arguable.

Before going further, read these by our own Mike Ford (note: no two infantrymen will agree on everything, if nothing else out sheer orneriness, but Mike is about 93% correct):

Syria Withdrawal Part I: The Right Decision

Syria Withdrawal Part II: Protecting (Our) Kurds

Syrian Withdrawal Part III: The Current Battlespace

Syria Withdrawal Part IV: Conclusion-Way Ahead

What the argument for staying in Syria presupposes is that there was actually some US interest in our presence there in the first place. There wasn’t. There isn’t. Our entire presence there is part and parcel of the Obama administration’s sucking up to the Iranians and helping them create client states from Iraq and Syria. It put us in the position of allying ourselves with Iranian militias, with the Iranian IRGC, with Bashar Assad, with al Qaeda offshoots, and with the PKK (which is a US designated terrorist group) and its YPG subsidiary to allegedly fight ISIS. Indeed, it has placed us in the position on not only being allies of a terrorist group, the PKK, but of the Kurdistan Regional Government, which opposes the YPG and has an economic boycott of the area under than group’s control.

Let’s stop here for a moment and try to answer why we were fighting ISIS? I’ve struggled with this for a several years and the only answer I can come up with is that they are Iraqis and Syrians with subpar personal hygiene and a terrible tailor. The fact that ISIS was opposed by Iran and by al-Qaeda should have been our first hint that maybe we should be buying popcorn. ISIS is a millenialist movement that was doomed from the beginning to burn itself out because these movements always do. In the meantime it was wreaking havoc with our enemies. There was no reason for us to collaborate with a terrorist organization that targets a NATO ally. For all the wailing about the loss of US prestige from us abandoning an “ally”–again, our only ally in this mess is Turkey who a lot of conservatives seem to want war declared upon by the same administration they were criticizing only last year for damaging NATO–by kicking PKK to the curb, that loss of prestige is dwarfed by the PR debacle we got from creating a set of circumstances that permitted the Turks and the Russians to honestly crank out reports about the US arming terrorists (both PKK and Syrian rebels, most of which are al-Qaeda affiliated). Just how, exactly, do we defend having US troops and the American flag present to honor members of a designated foreign terrorist organization who were killed by our NATO allies:

You can’t. There is literally no national interest of the United States that permits this much less requires it.

Bill Roggio, of Long War Journal, who has been immersed in the politics of the wars in Iraq and Syria for nearly two decades describes it this way.

@realDonaldTrump’s withdrawal from Syria is a big foreign policy mistake. The US is selling out yet another ally. But this was a mistake that predated Trump. US chose a poor ally. YPG is not the “poor Kurds” that the media makes it out to be. This is the PKK’s Syrian branch.

As I said above, I differ with many in that I think our foreign policy suffered much more by allying with terrorist groups than it will by us finally coming to our senses. But read on.

If you insist on pretending the YPG is not the PKK, here are photos of US Special Forces at a “YPG” funeral in 2017. Note the PKK and Oculan flags flying at the funeral, with US armored vehicles flying Old Glory in the background.

This is disgraceful. The PKK is a specially designated terrorist organization. The PKK is responsible for killing tens of thousands of Turks during a bloody civil war.

The US, under the advice and direction of @brett_mcgurk, chose the “YPG” (PKK) as its ally to fight the Islamic State. There was no consideration of Turkey’s very real national security interests and concerns.

Let me be perfectly clear: I’m no fan of Erdogan. He has and continues to support terrorist groups, and is using HTS to battle the PKK right now. But if Erdogan was not president and the Turkish military was in power, it likely would doing exactly what he is doing.

Ironically, @brett_mcgurk also whitewashed the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces, the Iranian backed Shia terror groups, as it battled ISIS inside Iraq. The PMF is now killing Iraqis who are protesting. We shouldn’t be shocked about what is happening there.

When the US, under the Obama admin, pulled support from the Iraqi Kurds (the real good Kurds), as the PMF rolled over them in Kirkuk and elsewhere, where was the media and “experts” outrage. @brett_mcgurk, who has been vocal about the current betrayal. was silent on that.

What is happening in Syria and Iraq today did not happen in a vacuum. These problems stem from a decade of bad foreign policy decisions. After withdrawing from Iraq as the Syrian civil war raged, the Obama admin wanted to outsource the war against ISIS…

So the Obama admin outsourced the war & chose terrible partners (PKK in Syria, PMF in Iraq). The US chose terror groups to fight terror groups (Iraq is a bit more complicated as the Iraqi military was part of fight, but Iraqi govt backed PMF & even made it a legitimate unit).

The @realDonaldTrump admin is not absolved. It has owned this problem for almost 3 years. Like the Obama admin, it made no effort to reform the YPG, make it drop its radical Marxist ideology, and convince the Turkish gov’t that it was important it to fight ISIS.

Instead, the US military and policy makers that continued to back the YPG/PKK kept kicking this can of problems down the road, without realizing the plug could be pulled at any moment. It was no secret Trump wanted to leave Syria. Why was no effort made to to mitigate this?

Context to how we got here is key. There is little context in today’s news reports on this topic. Most of it is vapid Trump-bashing. The YPG is treated as innocent Kurds when it is in fact the PKK. This problem was years in the making and did not appear out of the ether.

Why does the Trump administration own this now? Because for the past three years it let the ‘smart’ people, the people that Erick refers to the so-called A-listers that fetishize process and value continuity in foreign policy more than US national interests. Last December, Trump announced that we were leaving Syria, so it is hardly like this was an impulsive decision. It is one in which some of his advisers disagreed (I’m guessing Bolton and Mattis) but the root word of adviser is advise, not dictate. If Trump is going to own the bad decisions foisted upon him by really, really smart people then he should be allowed the freedom of making his own decision that contradict what has been nearly a decade of really bad decisions on Syria and Iraq.

The reasons that President Trump wanted out are amazingly simple. There is no US strategic interest advanced by placing US forces in Syria. There is no US national interest advanced by openly allying ourselves with terrorist groups. Absent an open war with a NATO ally, or absent having the ignominious images of US forces in the custody of Turkish forces flashed around the world (of course, we got over the images of US Navy ships and sailors being rounded up by the Iranians, so we’d live through it), the Turks were never, ever going to allow a PKK/YPG autonomous area to exist in Syria. No US national security is advanced by having conflicting alliances with the Kurdistan Regional Government and the PKK/YPG as eventually one of those partners was going to have to be dropped. No possible strategic end-state does not require the US to pull troops out of Syria and, consequently, the only argument here is over timing and those against withdrawing now must make a case why withdrawing next year or five or ten years gains us advantages over leaving now.

Now people who were, quite rightly, adamantly opposed to our involvement in trying to topple Bashar Assad’s regime and to the introduction of US forces into Syria while Obama was in office now going full metal Chicken Little at the thought that we’re leaving it. Just for five minutes, I wish a lot of people would stop seeing everything through the lens of President Trump and, more specifically, through that lens that declares anyone who agrees with President Trump on any subject to have done so simply because they are in thrall to Trump the man.  But I’m not holding my breath.

*The D-Day info about G/116 Infantry is nearly all made up for narrative purposes.

President Donald J. Trump speaks to members of the press on the South Lawn of the White House Monday, May 20, 2019, prior to boarding Marine One to begin his trip to Pennsylvania. (Official White House Photo by Joyce N. Boghosian)

The mainstream media’s long-running monologue became a dialogue upon the invention of the internet. Where they used to be able to tell a story to their specification without worrying about anyone exposing their lies, they now must contend with hundreds of citizen journalists wrecking their narrative.

First, mainstream journalists scoffed at the idea that anybody could do what they do, and once it turned out that anybody actually could, they began to play the victim card when called out for their lies. Then, upon the election of Donald Trump to the White House, they used that victim card with reckless abandon.

The people haven’t been happy with the mainstream media for a very long time thanks to the people calling out their misinformation, half-truths, and all-out lies. When Trump would talk negatively about the media, the people couldn’t help but cheer him on and join in on the fun of bringing them down.

It’s a large part of why mainstream news reporters developed such an advanced case of Trump Derangement Syndrom.

Democrats go hand in hand with mainstream media, and they aren’t too happy with people putting the mainstream press down either. After all, the press tosses them softball questions, runs their narratives, and essentially acts as sympathetic megaphones for them. Whenever the press looks bad, Democrats look bad.

So, as Democrats will do, they began looking for a way to silence the opposition. It’s an old tactic. In fact, it’s one they tried to use way back in the day with the “Fairness Doctrine” when radio show host Rush Limbaugh was obtaining his fame and adding a conservative voice to the leftist dominated airwaves.

New York Senator Richard Blumenthal isn’t concerned with fairness, though. According to him, he just wants people to stop opposing mainstream journalists.

Blumenthal recently proposed a bill that would essentially make defying a journalist a federal crime.

“There is a segment of the population that feels an antipathy toward the press that they express verbally, in threats, and also, at the extreme, physically in direct attacks on the press,” Blumenthal said. “What we have to address is the continuing threat of physical violence […] against the press that may intimidate them in their vital news gathering operation.”

You may say that this is only Blumenthal wanting to make threats and violence against reporters illegal.

The problem is that it already is a crime to threaten or cause violence to journalists because it’s a crime to threaten or cause violence to anyone. Blumenthal wants to ratchet up the punishments for anyone who does these things to journalists, essentially turning journalists into a protected class.

The bigger problem is the fact that what constitutes as a threat appears to be vague, but we can get an idea of what Blumenthal considers a threat to journalists by the fact that he points to the recent viral video circulating around the internet that has the press clutching its pearls.

The meme video is a clip from the movie Kingsman: The Secret Service, with Trump’s head superimposed on one of the main characters during a scene where he participates in a free for all inside a hate church. You see this “Trump” kill both his enemies in DC and the media.

The video clip was, to anyone with half a brain, clearly metaphoric in how Trump continues to claim victory over Democrats and the media. However, the media is in a panic, claiming that such a video would incite violence against journalists.

They don’t seem to care about all the things they create that encourages violence against Trump and his supporters, but they don’t seem to remember ever doing that.

READ: (Leftists Upset About Video Of Trump Killing His Opposition Sure Seem Okay With Violence Against Him And His Supporters)

So anyone who makes anything that journalists feel remotely threatened by will suddenly find themselves in trouble with the feds and likely thrown in jail.

That’s what we call “Orwellian.”

What this boils down to is Democrats running defense for a Democrat propaganda machine. It’s censorship, plain and simple.

Any Republican worth a damn will publicly laugh at this.

On Sunday, I covered Pete Buttigieg’s bless-his-heart-style swipe at Beto O’rourke over the punk rocker privileged millionaire who’s not at all in favor of privileged millionaires’s announcement that he’d “make…a priority” of taking away tax exemption from any church that doesn’t support gay marriage (here).

There was also a not-so-favorable mention of Beto’s fundraising techniques and aspirations toward hunting rifle thievery.

A tweeting Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez heard tell of such and, Monday afternoon, went to bat for Beto:

“Small-dollar grassroots campaigns, aka what Buttigieg insults here as ‘pocket change,’ out-fundraises him by millions. Our nation’s leaders should be working to end the era of big money politics, not protect it.”

How might a leader “work to end the era of big money politics”? Get small money? If they get small money, they’ll never be elected in order to do anything, much less end big money politics.

In politics, it’s easy to say things. Harder is to make sense, and even more difficult yet is to speak words with the distinction of having value.

Anyway, put on your mask and fins; we’re diving deeper into her tweet:

“& Beto’s gun policy isn’t ‘picking a fight,’ it’s taking a stand.”

It should be noted that the two aren’t mutually exclusive.

We have a man in the running for the Democratic nomination who’s literally promised to steal your hunting rifles. That’s an incredible line to have crossed, but he jumped right over it with a “Yeehaw!”:

I find it strange Beto didn’t realize he was saying to millions of Americans, “Whatever you do, make sure I’m never put in charge of anything.”

But he’s got his own style.

And AOC, apparently, is a fan.

Pete prefers something more tempered. As reported by The Daily Wire, in September, he touted small doable steps over impossible giant leaps:

“Look, right now, we have an amazing moment right here on our hands. We have agreement among the American people for not just universal background checks but we have a majority in favor of red flag laws, high capacity magazines, banning the new sale of assault weapons. This is a golden moment to finally do something because we’ve been arguing about this for as long as I’ve been alive.”

And he ain’t into Beto’s burglary:

“This is a policy disagreement, and it is about governing. I get it, I mean he needs to pick a fight in order to stay relevant. But this is about a difference of opinion on policy and my focus right now is getting something done.”

America is beset by violent crime; some of that is accomplished via guns, just as some is prevented by guns; violent crime with guns almost exclusively involves handguns; therefore, Beto will steal all people’s hunting rifles.

His own style indeed: the style of being a goofball.

And of this:

He could use a new stylist.

Hell has officially frozen over.

John Bolton, once derided as possessing an evil only second to Dick Cheney, now finds himself in a rather odd position. Namely, he’s becoming the great hope of the resistance, as details are emerging that he opposed Giuliani’s machinations with Ukraine.

This sent blue-checkmark journos and left-wing agitators rushing to latch onto what Bolton had reportedly said.

The editorializing by the Times that Bolton was “so alarmed” is fairly typical. What we know is that he wasn’t comfortable with Giuliani’s actions so he sent someone to check with White House lawyers on the legal aspects. That seems like a rather smart thing to do on his part. That’s not really scandalous, as it would have been Bolton’s job as a primary advisor to ensure there wouldn’t be blow-black. Even if Bolton was “alarmed” about Giuliani, and that’s a perfectly reasonable position to take, what is that supposed to add up to besides a guy’s opinion?

Further, what exactly does this mean in terms of impeachment or quantifying any supposed quid pro quo? Absolutely nothing. The fact that people were concerned, much like when dealing with the whistle-blower report itself, is not indicative of anything. Adam Schiff is spinning his wheels and he knows it. The transcript is out there. No further evidence has emerged (although they’ve desperately tried to pass some off) that points to any corroboration of corruption in the call. Ukraine did not know the aid was on hold and Trump never brought it up or threatened it. It’s really that simple.

We can argue all day whether discussing Biden was morally improper. It’s beside the point and a distraction. You don’t impeach a President a year before an election based on opinions of such matters. Where’s the high crime and misdemeanor here? It’s not there and no amount of interviews is going to suddenly produce it. The source document is out there and we know what it says.

As to the left suddenly embracing John Bolton, it’s hilarious in its own right. Bolton has been painted as a warmonger, human rights abuser, and awful human being by the Democrats for almost two decades. Now they want to look to him to provide fodder for their witch hunt? I have a feeling Bolton, even with his disagreements with Trump, isn’t going to be interested in playing that game.

On the Insufferable Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton has been popping up a bit lately – on Twitter and also in carefully controlled public interviews and appearances. She told us the other day about doing another “listening tour.”

Hillary Rodham Clinton made listening tours famous, using them to build buzz for her New York Senate and presidential campaigns. Now, she’s on another. In an email to supporters, the 2008 and 2016 Democratic presidential candidate said, “I’d like to hear what you’re thinking.” While she isn’t talking about running for president a third time, Clinton said that she has been talking to people about key issues, including immigration reform and electing Democrats “at all levels” in 2020.

Read the rest here.

We’re supposed to believe that the consummate narcissist and grifter isn’t contemplating a re-run against President Trump in 2020? Let’s check out a couple of her recent statements. Here’s a laughable one.

Hillary Clinton said Tuesday that she believes the “gutsiest” thing she ever did outside of public life was deciding to stay married to former President Bill Clinton.

Read the rest of her ridiculousness here. She’s also called President Trump an “illegitimate president” and a “corrupt human tornado.” And just the other day, she claimed during a PBS interview that she “could beat Trump again” in 2020 (plus other nonsense):

Asked about Trump’s tweet earlier in the day, which mockingly suggested she join the race and again bemoaned her missing emails, the former first lady and secretary of state expressed wonder at what she called Trump’s obsession with her. “You know, it truly is remarkable how obsessed he remains with me. But this latest tweet is so typical of him. Nothing has been more examined and looked at than my emails. We all know that. So he’s either lying or delusional, or both,” she said. “There was no subpoena, as he says in a tweet this morning. So maybe there does need to be a rematch. Obviously, I can beat him again,” she continued, before suggesting she was making the comment in jest.

Read the rest here.

The woman’s narcissism and hubris are insufferable, especially given that she is guilty of many crimes and has been enabled by federal law enforcement throughout her entire “career.” As a life-long grifter, she has always been about the money and has used her political station to accrue money via elaborate pay-for-play activities and/or just plain corruption. Whether it was cattle futures or foreign contributions laundered through the Clinton Foundation while she was Secretary of State, she has always been about accumulating the wealth to which she believes she – as a typical liberal elitist – is entitled. Hers was a classic coattails career – she was elected to the US Senate in New York not on her own merits but rather solely because she was the wife of a US president. It is perhaps the biggest joke there is to think that she is actually “smart.” The reality is quite the contrary.

She used the Clintons’ accumulated wealth to corruptly leverage and control various Democrats and apparatchiks during her run for the presidency in 2008. The notion that she was “owed” the nomination because she saved Bill’s presidency is humorous to contemplate but probably exactly what she thought. She has always been cursed (or blessed from my point of view) with a political tin ear which has been evident for all to see. A horrible and boring candidate capable of only spouting poll-tested platitudes, she was easily swamped by Obama during the 2008 Democrat primary.

I have always suspected that Obama was blackmailed by the Clintons into appointing her as his first Secretary of State. The Clintons could have made much mischief for Obama had Hillary not received that sinecure. Their purpose to see her made Secretary of State was two-fold: to give her some foreign policy credentials that she lacked for her next run for the Oval Office, and more importantly to have the US State Dept serve as a nexus for their foreign pay-for-play schemes.

Lost among the dross of the “muh Russia hoax” over the past 2.5 years is the fact that the Clintons received MILLIONS from….wait for it….the RUSSIANS courtesy of the Uranium One deal. And we’re supposed to just ‘fuhgeddaboudit” because “Orange Man Bad”? It’s one thing for her to have gotten away scot free with her pay-for-play schemes while supposedly “serving the people” while Secretary of State (she probably got a good laugh about twisting that phrase into “serving herself”). It’s quite another to have almost certainly traded some of the nation’s most precious secrets for some of that foreign cash. (They’ve been doing that for years. How do you think the Chinese jumpstarted their satellite and nuclear first strike capabilities?)

Even the Obama-appointed IC IG at the time (who now just happens to be a lawyer for the Ukraine leaker!) disclosed that Hillary’s server contained at least 22 Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) emails on it, as well as dozens of lesser-classified emails – and that doesn’t include who knows how many other highly classified emails conveniently “destroyed” by her team of crooks in the early stages of the Mid-Year Examination (the FBI’s name for their faux investigation of her server).

While Loretta Lynch and James Comey effectively squelched the investigation of her server in 2016, largely thanks to Judicial Watch, there have been periodic new revelations that have cracked the façade carefully constructed by the Clinton Democrats and their media allies. For example, we learned some weeks ago that nearly 130 State Dept employees are likely to lose their security clearances (and may be subject to other well-deserved disciplinary actions?) because they knew about that illegal server and didn’t report it. Here is a report by RedState’s “streiff” toward that end. And the latest revelation is that Judicial Watch is likely to finally force depositions under oath by Hillary Clinton and her trusted aides after all this time:

On August 22, 2019, the court then ruled that Clinton and Mills had 30 days to oppose being questioned in person under oath by Judicial Watch related to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server. Additionally, Judicial Watch was granted seven new depositions, three interrogatories and four document requests. In granting the additional discovery, U.S. District Court Judge Royce C. Lamberth commented: “I’ll tell you everything they’ve discovered in this period raises serious questions about what the hell the State Department’s doing here.”

Read the rest here.

What makes me most furious about her crimes is not that she’s a life-long grifter and has been enabled throughout her grifting career by federal law enforcement who have looked the other way at every step of her journey. What is possibly even worse are her periodic in-your-face comments about her various crimes, e.g., the infamous “what difference at this point does it make” comment when under questioning during the Benghazi hearings. Or that the destroyed 30K+ emails only contained “yoga and wedding plans for Chelsea.” Or that she didn’t have any classified information on her email server at all! Let’s face it: the woman is a bald-faced liar – and is not very good at it, given her tin ear and body language.

Judicial Watch has been peeling back the onion that is Hillary’s shifting defense against going to jail for violating the Espionage Act and the statutes governing mishandling classified information. The tortured excuse offered by Comey to let her off the hook, i.e., there was no “intent” to disclose the classified information was a double lie, in my opinion. First of all, “intent” is nowhere in the statute; simple negligence resulting in the compromise of TS/SCI information is entirely actionable – there is no defense or escape (for average people). Second, I believe there was in fact intent on the part of Hillary and her minions, as some of those classified emails were purposely sold to our adversaries as part of her pay-for-play scheme. The woman had access to advanced technology secrets, information about US spies operating overseas, and other highly classified information, and we’re supposed to believe that someone who sold American uranium to the Russians would somehow not also sell those secrets? I suspect that what has been covered up about her pay-for-play scheme would shock the nation if all of the details were ever made public. The fact that – so far – only a few administrative acts have been taken against all of the perps is a travesty!

What also galls me, as a recently-retired long-time national security professional, is the insistence by her supporters – including those in the legacy media such as the Democrat hacks that now infest Fox News Channel – that she was thoroughly investigated and “exonerated” by Comey. First of all, they don’t understand the personal obligations of ANYONE with access to TS/SCI information. Second, they don’t understand that those accessing that information were required to sign nondisclosure agreements (NDA) that incur lifelong obligations. Third, each disclosure of a classified email is a separate instance that is punishable. The felonious actions don’t just get bundled together as a single felony. Fourth, anyone granted access (which means being cleared and also determined to have the “need to know” the specific info) is trained in the handling of – and the penalties for mishandling – classified information. Fifth, that training and the signed NDA obligate to report any known compromises of classified information, whether inadvertent or purposeful, including by anyone else. By the way, this is precisely why those State Department employees are losing their clearances; they did NOT report known/observed violations by Hillary and her immediate staff.

For all of these reasons, it should be remembered that ANYONE who claims that Hillary was “exonerated” is a bald-faced liar who either has no understanding of the governance, statutes, and obligations surrounding the handling of classified information or else actually understands the requirements and is simply lying for political purposes. Either way, that person is a complete liar on the subject.

I remain convinced that those 30K+ “lost” emails are in fact still available for analysis and subsequent legal action. The fact that Judicial Watch may finally force a real deposition under oath from Hillary and her lawyers is a promising sign that justice – although delayed – may finally be served. Believe me when I tell you this: Hillary, Cheryl Mills, Heather Samuelson, and the rest KNOW they’re guilty as sin and have to be sweating bullets about being forced to testify before officers of the court who haven’t been bought and paid for by the Clintons.

I have always wondered how the Clintons were seemingly always able to escape the hoosegow when the evidence of their corruption in the public record alone would have been more than enough to convict “regular people.” Given the corruption uncovered in DoJ and the FBI since President Trump was inaugurated, we know exactly how they have avoided the hangman over the years: they bought and paid for DoJ/FBI insiders to hijack and falsify investigations. They also bought and paid for a virtual army of media sycophants to spin things favorably to the Clintons and undermine investigations. True, some of these people, as sympathetic ideological allies to the Clintons, worked for “free.” Or rather for future consideration for jobs in a Hillary White House or elsewhere in a new Clinton administration). Until Hillary’s email server was uncovered by Judicial Watch and others, Loretta Lynch was on the path to becoming a USSC judge. Sally Yates was likely to become Hillary’s Attorney General for “services rendered,” and “Andy” McCabe would have probably relieved Comey as the FBI director. Just imagine the damage these lying corrupt-ocrats would have done in a Hillary administration!

I can assure you that the ONLY way Hillary and the others were let off the hook was through corruption, as they are all guilty of multiple counts of violating classified information handling statutes, as well as breaking their life-long NDAs. Those of us who have held TS/SCI clearances and understand the consequences of mishandling classified information are NOT going to let this subject go away until Hillary and the others are in jail. I pray that that smug look of that supremely insufferable woman will one day be wiped off her evil face!

The end.

[Note: a future article here at Red State will be a short tutorial on classified information that explains what classified information is, how it is to be protected, the obligations of everyone granted access to classified information, and the rules governing its handling under all circumstances.]

On Monday, Brad Slager wrote about the controversial video that aired at a recent gathering of President Trump’s supporters at a Trump resort in Miami and how the mainstream media and Democrats erupted in outrage over it.

Through his press secretary Stephanie Grisham, we learned Trump “strongly condemns” the doctored video that shows Trump shooting members of the media, even though he wasn’t responsible for creating it, having it created, sharing it, or in any other way promoting it.

But that wasn’t enough for media firefighters like New York Times editorial board member Mara Gay, who stated Monday afternoon that it was hard to believe he didn’t actually see the video and enjoy what he saw:

Gay, who got blasted by Sen. Ted Cruz in July over after she acted stupidly by telling the Senator that “Frederick Douglass’ name … has no business in your mouth”, was not the only member of the mainstream media who blamed Trump for a video he had nothing to do with. CNN’s Brooke Baldwin also took to the airwaves, anded demand Trump issue a statement himself condemning the video rather than through his press secretary.

Note below that CNN labeled the video a “Trump video” even though, again, Trump had nothing to do with its creation or dissemination:

This just goes to show you’re danged if you do and danged if you don’t if you’re a Republican. Trump condemned the video before he even saw it, according to his press secretary, but that wasn’t enough for the same mainstream media who have worked in concert with Democrats to amplify calls for his impeachment since before he was even elected president.

Even had he condemned it directly it still wouldn’t be enough for the media mobs, who would have spent days dissecting what he said to prove he didn’t really mean it, didn’t really own up to “his part” (though he had none as it relates to this video), and/or deliberately left out things that should have been said.

Republicans simply can’t win with the left wing media, which is why Trump doesn’t even bother trying.

Bruce Ohr, Glenn Simpson, Nellie Ohr (Image: Wikimedia Commons)

This was predictable in so far as it being a certainty that Fusion GPS and it’s dishonest, partisan founders were not going to take the IG report being released lying down.

With that in mind, they’ve now announced a coming book focused on the infamous Steele dossier. I mean, who better to gaslight the country on the Steele dossier than the people who created the garbage dumpster of a document.

This was no doubt being held back, waiting to be dropped as an announcement right before the IG report was set to come out. That way they can muddy the waters even further and allow the media to say “well, we will get the real story soon.”

Jeffrey Toobin is CNN’s conspiracy minded, crackpot “legal analyst,” so it’s not shocking he’s ready to put his stamp of approval on what is a book certain to be filled with yet more nonsense and misinformation.

There was a past point in our discourse when people like Glenn Simpson and his outfit would be laughed off the public stage based on how bad a failure their cardinal document was. Instead, they are still treated like serious people. Worse, they run a talking points factory which still gives “journalists” (via email lists) information daily on how to attack Trump and spin the Russia matter.

The Steele dossier’s relevancy is no longer in question. Every single salacious claim in that piece of trash has been discredited or left unproven. The only things “verified” were public data anyway. Yes, certain people traveled to Russia. Congrats on deducing what a 12 year old with an internet connection could have. What wasn’t true was basically anything that painted a picture of nefarious Russian collusion, peeing on mattresses, and Cohen being in Prague.

It would seem rather important that the most important aspects of their claims were complete crap. Unfortunately, we have a media complex which is obsessed with opposing Donald Trump, so they’ll absolutely fluff this book, not critically judge it, and accept Fusion GPS’s talking points and excuses wholesale.

The truth is already out there though. The Fusion GPS founders shouldn’t be writing books. They should be in jail.

ABC News Perpetrates a Fraud on the Nation and the Intrepid Media Fact Check Organizations Are Totally Missing in Action

Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot October 2017/a> by Zombie Power Drink/Fair Use/screen capture

Yesterday, ABC News combined the roles of Leni Riefenstahl and Josef Goebbels for the NeverTrump movement by releasing a video that purported to Turkish forces attacking “our allies” (thought experiment, if “out allies” are working in coordination with Russia and Iran and Assad’s Syria, what does that make us?). The purpose was clearly to stoke the hysteria over the withdrawal of a few hundred US troops from their role of trip-wire-and-speed-bump calculated to restrain the actions of the Turkish military in Syria and convert this action into an electoral issue.

The video originated from a firepower demonstration billed as “The World’s Largest Machine Gun Shoot and Military Gun Show” at the privately owned Knob Creek Gun Range near West Point, KY.

Sorry, wrong video. This is the actual clip ABC edited for broadcast.

ABC News is portraying this as some huge mistake

But I think if you been involved with imagery, either video or still, at a professional level you have a great deal of difficulty in believing this story. Every film clip or image used has to have its provenance clearly established because, in most cases, you owe someone money for using it. Even if you simply ripped off YouTube video, you need to know that in case some shyster hits you with a DCMA letter. Someone, probably a lot more than one person, at ABC knew this video was a misrepresentation and they still produced and aired the segment.

So where were our intrepid Fact Checkers here? As of this writing neither Snopes.com nor Politifact.com have addressed the issue. Why is this important? The ABC clip was widely promoted during two of the most highly watched broadcast news programs in the country. The videos were pushed out on social media and shared by (conservatively) tens of thousands of people. Leftwing blogs picked up the video and spread the story to that critical Woke Illiterate demographic upon which the Democrat party depends.

While the video was eventually pulled down, the apology will only reach a small fraction of the people who saw the original. Within two weeks, you can say with some certainty that this news clip will be resurrected and recirculated. This is the kind of thing both Snopes (which seems to have some kind of sick sexual fantasy about Babylon Bee) and Politifact should be all over. But they aren’t? And it is fair to ask why the biggest media hoax of the past two days has been totally ignored by the people who are supposed to be ensuring that we only consume the purest and most unblemished forms of information.

Buzz: A New Delay in Release of IG FISA Abuse Report Due to ‘Intra-Agency Debate’ Over Redactions

(AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite)

The long-awaited DOJ Inspector General’s report on FISA abuse was expected to be released this Friday.

Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo told viewers on Sunday that, “I’m hearing the IG report will be out this upcoming Friday, Oct. 18, and my sources say it’s as thick as a telephone book.” On Monday, she walked back her statement in the following tweet: “UPDATE: -IG report NOT out this Friday 10/18. Classifications being made. Likely end of month.”

On his Monday night show, Sean Hannity said he’s now hearing from sources that there’s been a delay. The latest buzz is that it will come next week.

Hannity spoke to Fox News’ contributor and former Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT). According to Chaffetz, the reason for the latest delay is that there have been “intra-agency” disagreements over classification issues. He added that up to 10-20% of the report may be redacted.

Chaffetz suggested that Obama’s Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and CIA Director John Brennan may be responsible for the holdup. Both are alleged to have played key roles in the origins of the Trump/Russia collusion investigations and therefore have strong incentives to seek heavy redactions. Former FBI Director James Comey is likely involved in the push for redactions as well.

Aside from the fact that Democrats are trying to minimize damage to themselves and their party, the delay also allows the impeachment inquiry to remain the dominant story in the news for a longer period of time. It’s been over a month since DOJ IG Michael Horowitz submitted this report to Attorney General William Barr.

Why are Republicans afraid to stand up to Democrats?

Below is an excerpt and a video of Hannity and Chaffetz’ discussion about the new delay.

Sean Hannity: Which brings us to the IG report. Congressman Chaffetz, it’s been taking us a long time. And we heard the end of this week. Now we hear the beginning of next week. I can never get a straight answer. You know, at some point are we going to see premeditated fraud on a FISA Court and people held accountable? Spying on a presidential campaign, transition and president?

Jason Chaffetz: It has been going on for an exceptionally long time. Evidently there’s an intra-agency debate and really a food fight, if you will, over the classification issues. Remember in the last report put out by Horowitz there were only seven words or so that were redacted. The Democrats threw a fit that they couldn’t see the whole thing. This could have 10-20% of the report redacted…

Sean Hannity: Is that director Wray who has not shown any willingness to clean up the greatest law enforcement agency in the world? Is that him?

Jason Chaffetz: I have not seen any evidence that Director Wray has been cooperative but I think we’re talking about other agencies, perhaps. Perhaps the CIA the NSA, there are others. Mr. Clapper, Mr. Brennan, are behind the scenes fighting as best they can. in front of the camera fighting as best they can. I think you need to look at what Mr. Comey, the director of the FBI and his interaction with Brennan in particular. What sort of collusion was happening in our government and overseas. That’s the deep concern, Sean.

(The relevant segment begins at 2:45.)

Target Workers Get a Predictable Rude Awakening After Company Implements Minimum Wage Increase

As I’ve written before, the “Fight for $15” campaign may have had its share of victories in a handful of blue states like New York, but studies have shown that over time these “wins” are largely symbolic and ultimately end up hurting workers.

They hurt them in an number of ways, and one of them is in how companies – in response to these campaigns – start exploring different ways to save money to offset rising labor costs.

Though not bound by any mandate, Target decided to get woke a couple of years ago by announcing they would raise their minimum wage to $15/hour by 2020.

In a shocking display of actual journalism, CNN recently interviewed over 20 current and former Target employees who say that the gradual wage hike (their minimum is now $13) brought along with it less hours and, of course, less take-home pay. Why? Because Target started to look for ways to cut corners:

But some store workers say the wage increases are not helping because their hours are falling, making it difficult to keep their health insurance and in some cases to pay their bills.
[…]
“I got that dollar raise but I’m getting $200 less in my paycheck,” said one, Heather, who started in November at a Florida store working around 40 hours a week. She’s now below 20 some weeks, she said. “I have no idea how I’m going to pay rent or buy food.”
[…]
Beyond just a drop in earnings that Target workers who spoke with CNN Business have experienced, employees who average fewer than 30 hours of work a week during the year aren’t eligible to qualify for health insurance benefits through the company during annual enrollment season in the spring.
[…]
Target workers who say their hours have dropped have been given a variety of reasons why by their supervisors, including that there were not hours available or that their managers couldn’t fit additional hours in their budgets. Others said they received no explanation for why their hours fell.

One former store director in Ohio who oversaw around 130 employees said hours dropped at the store in the past year for several reasons, including the introduction of self-checkout and elimination of backroom shifts.

It’s almost as if this had been predicted or something.
