Trump’s Crime? Asking Zelensky to Reopen Investigation Ukraine was Forced to Close After Biden’s Thuggish Threat

The dictionary defines psychosis as a severe mental disorder in which thought and emotions are so impaired that contact is lost with external reality. The person with this condition usually isn’t aware of his or her behavior. Democrats appear to be afflicted with this condition.

Devastated by Trump’s victory nearly three years ago and unable to accept it to this day, they are convinced of the alternate reality they have created. Instead of moving through the typical stages of grief and ultimately reaching acceptance, they remain stuck in denial. Their group malady has caused enormous damage to the country and it’s time for some shock therapy.

The reality which they are currently rejecting is that the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s office was engaged in an investigation of Burisma Holdings in 2016. Their examination turned up a series of odd payments being made to a company owned by then-Vice President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, and his business partner. Naturally, it was difficult for them to comprehend why Hunter, who had no previous business experience in the energy industry, had earned $3 million from Burisma between 2014 and 2015. Knowing that Joe Biden had been appointed by the Obama administration in early 2014 as their “point man” for Ukraine, investigators obviously suspected this arrangement might be corrupt and required further scrutiny.

In December 2015, the New York Times published a story that Burisma was under investigation. Joe Biden then learned that his son was about to be questioned by the prosecutor general’s office and the pressure from Biden (and the Obama administration) to prevent this from happening began.

In January 2016, the White House invited Ukrainian prosecutors to Washington to meet their US counterparts to discuss ways to fight corruption.

The Hill’s John Solomon described this meeting in a recent article:

The meeting, promised as training, turned out to be more of a pretext for the Obama administration to pressure Ukraine’s prosecutors to drop an investigation into the Burisma Holdings gas company that employed Hunter Biden and to look for new evidence in a then-dormant criminal case against eventual Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, a GOP lobbyist.

U.S. officials “kept talking about how important it was that all of our anti-corruption efforts be united,” said Andrii Telizhenko, the former political officer in the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington who organized and attended the meetings.

Solomon spoke to Nazar Kholodnytsky, Ukraine’s chief anti-corruption prosecutor, who had attended the meeting, shortly afterward. Kholodnytsky told him he saw evidence in Ukraine of political meddling in the U.S. election.

Still, the investigation into Burisma continued. In March 2016, Joe Biden took matters into his own hands and threatened to withhold $1 billion in aid unless the prosecutor who was about to question his son was fired. The Ukrainian government, close to bankruptcy, was forced to comply and Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin was fired.

The Vice President of the United States was ready to withhold $1 billion in aid to Ukraine to prevent legal problems for his son. This was an egregious abuse of power.

All of this, of course, is well documented. Biden himself boasted about it. (Why would he ever do that?)

Fast forward to July 25, 2019.

President Trump asks new Ukrainian President Volodymyr to reopen the investigation which Joe Biden improperly forced the former President to end in March 2016, threatening to withhold aid.

Trump was asking for Biden’s corrupt action to be reversed.

A whistleblower who is said to be highly partisan and who did not hear the conversation between President Trump and President Zelensky files a complaint with the Intelligence Community Inspector General. I won’t take you through the sequence of events of the last week because we are all too familiar with them.

A media uproar follows.

On Tuesday, President Trump announces he will release a transcript of the call on Wednesday.

Democrats, who have been demanding the transcript for days say that’s not good enough. MSNBC’s Chris Hayes worried about the trustworthiness of the transcript.

As did CNN’s Jake Tapper.

Before even reading the transcript which will be released hours from now, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi announced a formal impeachment inquiry against President Trump. Democrats have seen no evidence yet. Neither the whistleblower or the Director of National Intelligence have testified before Congress, but that didn’t stop Pelosi from holding a press conference. Lawmakers in the House have not even taken a vote on this measure.

Recall the definition of psychosis above. Pelosi’s press conference showed that her “thoughts and emotions were so impaired that contact was lost with external reality.” It appeared that she wasn’t “aware of his or her behavior.” She was convinced of the alternate reality she (and the Democrats) have created. And she remains stuck in denial.

Judge Dismisses Conviction in Mueller-Related Case and That May Aid Mike Flynn

When Robert Mueller’s goons forced Mike Flynn into pleading guilty to some tenuous bullsh**, they used Flynn to target his business partner Bian Kian or Bian Rafiekian. Eventually, he was indicted for violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, specifically that he was acting as an agent of Turkey despite zero proof in that regard. In fact, the court ruled that the prosecutors could argue neither a conspiracy existed nor that Turkey funded any of the work done by Flynn Intel Group. Because OrangeManBad as much as any evidence presented, Rafiekian was convicted on two counts: that he lied to federal agents and that he violated FARA.

Rafiekian’s lawyers had filed motions on three separate occasions asking for the judge to direct acquittal (filed at the end of the prosecution and the defense presentations) and that the judge overturn the guilty verdict (after the verdict was returned). Today the judge, in a rather blistering ruling, threw out the verdict. In fact, the order sounds a lot like what a non-lawyer would characterize as a malicious prosecution.

This is the full ruling

Rafiekian Dismissal Memo by Techno Fog on Scribd

A lot of this ruling seems germane to the Flynn case as his FARA violation is pretty much the same as that of Rafiekian.

I doubt that this will be the last Mueller related case to blow up. The ongoing action against Concord Management has been a dumpster fire since Day One and was an object lesson about just how incompetent Mueller’s team was when facing someone with the resources to fight them.

Black Teacher Who Blew the Whistle on Minority Students Being Allowed to Misbehave Wins Huge in Court

Aaron Benner is a black elementary school teacher, formerly with the St. Paul School District in Minnesota.

And now, he’s also a guy with a giant chunk of cash.

The reason?

Well, the story began during the 2014-2015 schol year, when Aaron called out the school for letting minority students get away with misbehavior.

As reported by Minneapolis Star Tribune:

Benner, who is black, accused the district of failing black students by not holding them accountable for disruptive behavior. The district was being led then by Valeria Silva, who sought to reduce racial disparities in student discipline.

Resultantly, as per his 2015 federal lawsuit, the school system — despite him having never been reprimanded in 19 years as an educator — used four separate investigations to essentially force him to quit.

Well, on Tuesday night, a settlement was won. And it ain’t no little bag of coins, neither.

Aaron scored $525,000.

In an email, he expressed his gratitude toward a higher power:

I thank God for all the blessings in my life. I turned 50 this year, got married in July and now (there is) this settlement.

The system issued a statement, among which lay the absence of admitted guilt:

This agreement enables the district to avoid the time, expense and uncertainty of protracted legal proceedings regarding its previous policies, practices and expectations.

Of course, ultimately, it isn’t the district that’ll cough up the dough, but the taxpayers.

However, St. Paul seems cool with spending from the trough.

As noted by The O’Reilly Factor in 2015:

“For the past five years the St. Paul, Minnesota school district has spent nearly $3 million on ‘white privilege’ training done by a far-Left outfit called the Pacific Educational Group. That training tells teachers to overlook transgressions by minority students; to treat them differently than white students.”

Maybe they can save on that kind of instruction going forward.

Aaron now serves as an administrator for St. Paul’s Cretin-Derham Hall charter school.

Over 3,500 Young People Threaten to Never Have Children Unless the Adults Stop Climate Change and ‘Ensure a Safe Future’

Westlake Legal Group polar-bear-709682_1280-620x445 Over 3,500 Young People Threaten to Never Have Children Unless the Adults Stop Climate Change and ‘Ensure a Safe Future’ Uncategorized Motherhood Hysteria Front Page Stories fear environment emma sims democrats Climate children Armageddon Allow Media Exception #nofuturenochildren

In order to protest what they apparently believe is the soon-to-be end of the world, over 3,500 young people have pledged they’ll keep from having children.

The petition reads, “I pledge not to have children until I am sure my government will ensure a safe future for them.”

The pledge — known as #NoFutureNoChildren — was created by Canadian teenager Emma Lim.

On the project’s website, Emma shares her story. Here’s a bit:

I’ve always imagined I would be a mother. I know that for a lot of people, the decision to have children is something made later on in life, but for me it was never something I had to think about. I love children so much that I worked as a nanny over the summer between eleventh and twelfth grade.

There are all of these little things I can see myself doing: singing to my babies, listening to their stories, working through homework, baking, finger painting, going for nature walks, dancing in the kitchen- and it hurts almost like a physical pain when I realize I might never get to do these things. Because even though I want to have children more than almost anything- what kind of a mother would I be if I brought a baby into a world where I couldn’t make sure they were safe?

I read the IPCC report last September, and it terrified me. I’m only a teenager, so I’ve learned about climate change for as long as I can remember. I’ve seen it all around me too. In my province once in a century floods have started to happen every year. There are heatwaves in the summer, and in the winter we’re not able to skate on the pond anymore. But the truth is that we are in so much more danger than I could have imagined. We are facing changes that will be irreversible: the loss of ecosystems, the loss of fresh water, the loss of clean air.

Respectfully, Emma seems not to understand how some things work:

I am facing a future of economic instability, of food scarcity and extreme weather. What if I have to sacrifice my child’s education to pay for a new house? What if my house becomes uninsurable? What if I have to pay for clean water?

Of course, a child’s education isn’t optional, and it’s funded through taxation. College is provided by grants and loans. And clean water, if you have a house, is already something you have to pay for. For that matter, generally, everything you receive, you pay for, regardless of where or under which government system you live — whether via willing payment or taxation.

She also cryptically states that “everything will be more expensive with climate change.”

As we saw Monday, the Shut Down DC protest took the opportunity to promote socialism, in lieu of capitalism (here). Surely they don’t understand that “capitalism” simply means you can freely own and operate your own business, and socialism means that right is taken away — in favor of a government monopoly with no supply-and-demand to keep down costs.

With socialism, “everything will be more expensive.”

Emma concludes:

I am not the only young person giving up lifelong dreams because they are unsure of what the future will hold. We’ve read the science, and now we’re pleading with our government.

Please, keep us safe. Please act while there is still time.

In the site’s Our Stories section, other teens share.

From an 18-year-old girl:

The science has spoken. Climate change is an established objective truth with already irreversible consequences

From a boy of the same age:

I’m scared. No – I’m absolutely terrified. If I have children, their future will be even more uncertain and endangered than my own.

From a 17-year-old girl:

Because the [planet] is already over capacity, because costs of raising a child is too high and it would be one less person other people would have to fight when the water wars start.

And another:

Our society is on the verge of a collapse. Our ecology isn’t far behind. In the prior situation, raising a kid may mean death for me and my partner. In the latter situation, humanity goes extinct. I have crippling fear about this on a near daily basis. Climate leaders don’t buy pipelines and LNG plants.

On Sunday, I wrote “The Far Left Is Making Teens Miserable Over The Imminent Destruction Of The World.”

Events since then certainly haven’t served to prove me wrong.

But we’re in luck: at 17 years old, a person doesn’t really much yet have a “story;” but they will. And fortunately, that tale will eventually include growing up and noticing that the world is still here.

And as for that “not having kids” thing, many have tried it. But it seems to mostly get even the best resistors.

Furthermore, hopefully the now-frightened teens’ will grow beyond the point of worry — because they are, in truth, helpless.

The same ideas I wrote about New York City apply here:

In an effort to save the planet, New York City is considering outlawing its signature meat — the hot dog.

Yeah — that’ll save it.

Population of New York City: 8.5 million.

Population of the planet: 7.7 billion.

All of America: 328 million.

Think we can conquer the remaining 7,372,000,000 people by 2030? I thought colonialism was wrong?

#FAIL.

Here’s a bit more perspective:

That’s the world.

Take that map and enlarge it by 2000% on a 17-inch screen. Then find a baby and clip one of his or her hairs. Then touch that hair to the screen, in the upper right corner of America.

That’s New York City.

Does it look like Big Apple footlongs are the pivot point for planetary survival?

How about Canada? or Washington D.C? Or America?

Breathe, kids. You aren’t the world. You’re one person, each. Live your life. No one can guarantee your safety. Life is precious, as is youth. Enjoy them while they’re here.

Last but not least: To all of you pledging, the rest of the world doesn’t care if you have kids. All that space on the map won’t change its ways of life because you, or I, or anyone here wishes it so. The world is bigger than that. And so is the world of ideas. I hope you find many more than those of misery and impending doom. If in no other way, you will, in the eyes of those which you presently don’t believe will ever exist. But they will. You can bet on that, much more than you can predict the weather.

Go Ahead and Guess Who the Lawyer for the Trump-Ukraine “Whistle-Blower” Is

Raise your hand if you saw this coming?

After days of impeachment fever and breathless hot takes about Trump being taken down by a non-scandal involving a whistle-blower and a call to Ukraine, we are starting to get more information about just who is involved in this. You’d be completely not shocked to learn that the whistle-blower has retained the services of a lawyer who worked for Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer, not as a disconnected lawyer, but on their political staffs.

And stick around, because it gets even worse.

Per The Federalist.

The anonymous person who filed a formal, uncorroborated complaint against President Donald Trump for allegedly asking a foreign leader to investigate corruption related to Joe Biden now has a legal team that includes a Democratic operative who worked for Sens. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.).

Andrew Bakaj, now a managing partner at the Compass Rose Legal Group, interned for Schumer in the spring of 2001 and for Clinton in the fall of the same year, according to Bakaj’s LinkedIn page. More recently, Bakaj has worked as an official in the CIA and Pentagon and specializes in whistleblower and security clearances in his legal practice.

You know what I wouldn’t do if I wanted my complaint to be taken seriously and not considered partisan? I wouldn’t go hire a former staffer for Hillary Rodham Clinton who also worked within the agencies in question. That seems like a bit of a conflict, especially when the entire basis of impeachment is presupposed on the condition of the unbiased nature of the whistle-blower.

Oh, but it doesn’t end there. Here’s the really good stuff.

The anonymous U.S. intelligence official accusing President Trump of improperly pressuring Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden is represented by two lawyers who run a group that offers financial help to fired whistleblowers.

Whistleblower Aid was launched in September 2017 — eight months after Trump’s inauguration — with an advertising blitz that involved mobile billboards being driven close to the White House, Congress, outside the Pentagon, and around the headquarters of the CIA and National Security Agency.

The group’s pledge of support, in addition to free legal representation including rent and mortgage assistance, media coaching, and doctor’s bills and counseling, is controversial among lawyers. Critics say it violates attorney ethics.

Yes, you read that right. This lawyer and his group formed an organization that pays anti-Trump “whistle-blowers” to come forward and lodge complaints. Further, they offer free legal representation and a myriad of other payments, including mortgage assistance for some reason.

Now, I’m no legal expert, but that seems pretty low brow and unethical to me. It seems like the kind of situation that would bring partisan actors out of the woodwork in order to benefit from the situation. Especially when the law will protect their anonymity the entire way.

This lawyer himself is anything but an unbiased observer.

The more that comes out, the more political this looks. Let’s say the whistle-blower complaint is released. By what rational is it to even be believed? It’s almost certainly going to be baseless conjecture given what we have already heard. We know he/she has mislead everyone on their knowledge of the Ukraine call, with a report coming out that they never even heard the call for themselves.

Meanwhile, Democrats are prancing around trumpeting impeachment at the poker table while holding a pair of twos. This isn’t going to end well for them. I say bring it on though.

Has Pelosi’s impeachment dam been breached by freshman Democrats?

Westlake Legal Group Nancy-Pelosi-downcast Has Pelosi’s impeachment dam been breached by freshman Democrats? Washington Post Ukraine The Blog President Trump impeachment democrats Common Defense

The ground is shifting under Speaker Pelosi’s feet. Freshmen Democrat lawmakers are moving to the dark side as they align themselves with their colleagues calling for impeachment inquiries to begin.

Monday night, the Washington Post published an op-ed signed off on by seven freshman Democrats These lawmakers are noteworthy because they were elected in districts that went for President Trump in 2016. They are part of the Democrat caucus that up until now have gone along with Speaker Pelosi in her decision to hold off on moving toward impeaching the president. As a matter of fact, all but one were very vocally against moving in that direction. They didn’t want to be forced to cast a vote and mire up their re-election campaigns.

Reps. Gil Cisneros of California, Jason Crow of Colorado, Chrissy Houlahan of Pennsylvania, Elaine Luria of Virginia, Mikie Sherrill of New Jersey, Elissa Slotkin of Michigan and Abigail Spanberger of Virginia have a new message. Of those seven, only Crow had previously called for impeachment proceedings to begin. They are all ready to speak up and align themselves with the far left, like the Squad. It’s all because of the Ukraine story. These representatives are military veterans or national security types who look upon the alleged withholding of military aid to Ukraine as a national security risk that President Trump unnecessarily took, thus he is unfit to be president. Rep. Mikie Sherrill, (D-NJ) said on CNN this morning, “The president has crossed a line.” Rep. Jason Crow said, “Our adult lives have been defined by national security. We call on all of our colleagues in both chambers in Congress, in both parties to step up to the plate and make sure we are defending our country.”

Sherrill said they told Pelosi that the op-ed would run in WaPo this morning but it was published online last night when I read it. I could feel the excitement of reporters gleefully tweeting about a “significant development”.

These freshmen consider themselves a “close group” as Crow told CNN’s Alisyn Camarota. What neither Crow nor Sherrill admitted, though, to Ms. Camarota is that all but Cisneros were lobbied by a group of liberal veterans in Common Defense. All last week, members of Common Defense were meeting with Democrat members of Congress and their staffs on the question of impeachment. They met with six of those seven — all except Cisneros. The language in the WaPo op-ed is the same as the language found on Common Defense’s website.

Here are two examples:

“We have devoted our lives to the service and security of our country, and throughout our careers, we have sworn oaths to defend the Constitution of the United States many times over…”

“To uphold and defend our Constitution, Congress must determine whether the president was indeed willing to use his power and withhold security assistance funds to persuade a foreign country to assist him in an upcoming election.”

To be clear, Common Defense is a group of veterans working against President Trump. Their website explains “Common Defense was founded in 2016 by veterans who oppose Trump’s corrupt agenda of hate. Together we will reclaim our democracy and build a truly grassroots movement to fight for our future.”

We empower veterans to stand up for our communities against the rising tide of hate and violence, serve on the front lines for social, economic, and environmental justice, champion a truly equitable and representative democracy and preserve the core American values we swore to uphold and defend.

Historically, right-wing billionaires and politicians have exploited veterans like us as political props. In order to win in 2020 and build a sustainable progressive movement going forward, we must invest in organizing the country’s 6-8 million progressive veterans – and not just by helping elite veterans run for office or appear in television ads.

The majority of American veterans are working class, diverse, heavily located in key swing states and districts, and among the most trusted and persuasive organizers, canvassers, and leaders within our communities. Common Defense is the only organization focused on engaging this critical demographic, which could hold the key to the progressive movement’s long-term success.

Pelosi has held Democrats who are eager for impeachment proceedings back so far but that may be changing. She meets today with leaders in the caucus and seems to be more open to the opening of impeachment inquiries now that the Ukraine story is all over cable news.

Pelosi, according to multiple senior House Democrats and congressional aides, has been gauging the mood of her caucus members about whether they believe that allegations that Trump pressured the Ukrainian president to investigate a political foe are a tipping point. She was making calls as late as Monday night, and many leadership aides who once thought Trump’s impeachment was unlikely now say they think it’s almost inevitable.

But an official familiar with her thinking warned that just because she was considering impeachment didn’t mean it would happen right away. The person said the process still needs to play out.

The impeachment dam hasn’t burst yet but it is definitely springing leaks. More moderate Democrats – those not in the Squad or the far left – are feeling more emboldened to push forward with impeachment inquiries, though not necessarily impeachment proceedings. It’s a way for them to continue to move slowly while not jumping all – in for impeachment. All of this, mind you, still over the latest story of corruption that the Democrats are using against President Trump. The Ukraine story is still little more than gossip – details haven’t been brought forward publicly and debate is going on within the administration as to if they should release the complaint or the transcript of the telephone conversation between Trump and Zelensky.

The latest Democrats joining the impeachment chorus have to be conflicted about coming out for it now. Rep. Debbie Dingall, a Democrat from Michigan who is in leadership, now calls for an inquiry after remaining cautious all long. As Rep. Sherrill noted on CNN this morning, most of the voters in her district likely will not agree with her decision. I live in a district that voted to send a Democrat to Congress for the first time ever in 2018. I doubt my district would have enough voter support for impeachment, though.

It is amazing to watch the Democrats toss due process out the window once again. Will this new enthusiasm for impeachment unite conservatives, Republicans, and Independents against the strengthening Democrat tide, as it did during the Kavanaugh hearings? I think it very well may.

Donald Trump strategist Paul J. Manafort, left, chats with former presidential candidate Ben Carson as they head to a Trump for president reception at the Republican National Committee Spring Meeting, Thursday, April 21, 2016, in Hollywood, Fla. (AP Photo/Wilfredo Lee)

Ben Carson’s doubled down on his assertion that men identifying as women shouldn’t be staying at battered women’s shelters.

Last week, the U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) secretary got slammed by Democrats for his reported statement during a private meeting that “transgender people should get the same rights as everyone else, but they don’t get to change things for everybody else.”

Purportedly, Dr. Ben also claimed women’s groups and shelter administrators said they don’t want “big, hairy men” staying there.

In response, some Dems called for Carson to be fired.

Evidently, they’re really into the whole “get rid of Republicans in office” thing.

As reported by The Daily Wire, Kamala Harris had this to say:

“Shameful. These derogatory comments by Secretary Carson are part of a long pattern that shows his disregard for the transgender community. It’s simply unacceptable.”

Julián Castro — who believes men can get pregnant, so long as the conception isn’t disrupted by racist weather — went after the doctor, too:

“19 Black trans women have been killed this year because comments like Ben Carson’s normalize violence against them. As HUD Secretary, I protected trans people, I didn’t denigrate them.”

But on Friday night, Ben told Tucker Carlson he never suggested people who identify as the opposite sex don’t have rights, just that they don’t have more rights than anyone else:

“I simply pointed out the fact that, you know, we have to have policies that take into consideration everybody’s rights. I say everybody has equal rights; nobody gets extra rights.”

Furthermore, as relayed by LifeSite News, he’s on the side of the women at the shelters:

“I talked about some of the women’s groups who have come to me, and I’ve had many in my office, and they say they are uncomfortable with the policy in existence, which says you must accept a person’s designation of their gender regardless of their physical characteristics. What we’ve decided to do, first of all we’ve upheld the 2012 equal access law; we have no intention of changing that, but in terms of that broad definition of gender being whatever you say it is, we said we’re going to leave that to the local jurisdictions.”

The brain surgeon’s in favor of letting the locals use their own brains:

“If you have a women’s shelter and you’ve been operating well, you get to decide how you’re going to run it, the federal government doesn’t need to be telling people who is a man and who is a woman. That’s a decision they can make by themselves.”

Ben’s received complaints from shelters about men, but no suggested fixes from those potentially dejected by his position:

“And I quoted a group that came to me, and they were very upset, and they said, you know, ‘A big hairy man came in here and he says he’s a woman, and that upsets us because many of us are trying to escape that.’ But the political correctness says, ‘You have to say what we want you to say,’ and that will destroy freedom of speech. And I’ve offered transgender groups the opportunity to let me know what their solution would be so that everybody’s rights are observed. I haven’t heard one peep.”

The world’s sure getting more complicated. Nowadays, if you open a women’s shelter, you can’t even get past step 1: establishing what a woman is.

If things had always been this way, I bet the YMCA never woulda got off the ground.

“Terribly divisive”: Tulsi Gabbard sounds like a no on impeachment

Westlake Legal Group tg-3 “Terribly divisive”: Tulsi Gabbard sounds like a no on impeachment The Blog monmouth kamala harris impeachment impeach gabbard fox news Fox & Friends divisive democrats debate

Maybe her Democratic critics are right. Maybe her presidential campaign really is an audition for a Fox News show.

I kid. And when I say it sounds like she’s opposed to impeachment here, I use that term advisedly. The process will be “terribly divisive,” she says, which is true — but she doesn’t flatly commit to voting no. It would be in both her short-term and long-term interest as a Democrat to support impeachment, however reluctantly. “Long-term” in the sense that Gabbard is young, making a national name for herself, and might conceivably be a formidable presidential contender down the road — unless she alienates her party’s base forever by siding with Trump in the war to come.

“Short-term” in the sense that there’s news today about the 2020 campaign. Because she notched two percent in the latest Monmouth poll of New Hampshire, Gabbard has qualified for the next Democratic debate.

It is not yet clear whether the debate will take place over two nights, but Ms. Gabbard’s inclusion adds to that possibility. The June and July debates featured 20 candidates evenly split over two-night events; after the D.N.C. tightened its qualification requirements for the fall, the debate this month was held with 10 candidates on a single evening…

The Monmouth poll released Tuesday showed Ms. Warren and Mr. Biden atop the Democratic field in New Hampshire: Ms. Warren had 27 support, and Mr. Biden had 25 percent. Mr. Sanders finished third with 12 percent, followed by Mr. Buttigieg with 10 percent. Ms. Harris finished fifth with 3 percent support.

Congrats to her on making the cut but she’ll be in an excruciating position if she’s onstage in mid-October as the lone Democratic candidate standing who opposes impeachment at a moment when her party is in a frenzy to do it. The moderators are sure to press her about it too; even if they don’t, her pal Kamala Harris will bring it up to exact revenge for Gabbard’s withering attack on Harris’s record as AG at the second debate. What will Gabbard say in response? You can imagine how the criticism of her will be framed: “The reason impeachment is ‘terribly divisive’ is because Donald Trump, not our party, has consistently placed his own interests over the interests of the country. What do you propose to do to stop him from leaning on foreign leaders to investigate his political opponents over the next 16 months short of joining us in trying to remove him?”

Speaking of Harris and Gabbard, here’s the rest of that Monmouth poll that secured Gabbard’s place in next month’s debate. Hoo boy:

Westlake Legal Group r-1 “Terribly divisive”: Tulsi Gabbard sounds like a no on impeachment The Blog monmouth kamala harris impeachment impeach gabbard fox news Fox & Friends divisive democrats debate

Remember after the second debate when Harris sneered that she was “top tier” and therefore didn’t need to worry about attacks from a no-chancer like Gabbard? They’re now separated by a point in national polling in a key early state.

I’m done parsing Gabbard’s political pronouncements for strategic angles, by the way. I don’t think she has a strategy; I think she’s just speaking her mind and letting the chips fall where they may. That’ll be good for her future as a political pundit, not so good for her future as a Democratic politician.

To Criticize or Not to Criticize? Media Tries to Have It Both Ways When It Comes to Teen Activists

With all that has been said by liberals and the media about teenage climate change activist Greta Thunberg, arguably the most deliberately disingenuous and dishonest thing that has been suggested is that her ideas should be insulated from criticism because she’s 16 and suffers from autism.

ABC News journalist Julia Macfarlane was among those taking Thunberg’s critics to task for “cyberbullying” an autistic teenager:

Macfarlane’s take is quite an interesting and perplexing one, considering the media collectively weren’t interested in holding back on the Covington teenagers earlier this year after they were falsely accused of trying to racially intimidate a Native American protester during a pro-life rally. Though none of the high school students suffers from autism, they were teen activists, too, and wholly undeserving of the doxxing and threats on their lives they were forced to endure in the aftermath of the media feeding frenzy.

Democrats and the mainstream media usually sing a different tune when it comes to young teen activists who run in left wing circles (usually at the prodding of their activist parents or guardians). When these activists take the stage, their words are off limits to criticism, no matter how they badly they insult or impugn the motives of those who disagree with them.

In other words, it’s the kiddie human shield defense all over again.

Parkland students Davig Hogg and Emma Gonzalez were supposed to be allowed to accuse gun rights supporters of being murderers with blood on their hands – without any pushback. Greta Thunberg is supposed to be allowed to say, without being questioned, that those who disagree with her on climate change are ruining her life and destroying the futures of teenagers all over the world.

But don’t you dare respond back to any of them. Not even if it’s merely to express disagreement with their message. Because they are brave warriors, you know. Brave warriors who also should be shielded from criticism because they’re young.

In a piece titled “Greta Thunberg cannot be both a shield and a sword”, Charles C.W. Cooke calls out this shameful tactic for what it is:

What is being attempted with Thunberg is one of the oldest tricks in the book. First, you find a young person who shares your politics and cast them as the uncorrupted prophet of a new generation. Second, you have them argue their case as often and as loudly as possible. Third, you cast all pushback as “inappropriate” or “bullying” or “punching down.” “Why,” you ask, “are you criticizing this sweet little girl who is just trying to help us in our quest to reorder the entire world?”

This process is not only transparent; it is grotesque. There exists no universe in which one can simultaneously cast a person as a brave truth-teller whose words must be heeded, and as an innocent, fragile child who is beneath the notice of any well-rounded adult. A sword is not a shield and a shield is not a sword. One must pick one.

There are ways to constructively tackle the arguments of teenage activists without engaging in “cyberbullying” and “doxxing” and all the other negative things unfortunately associated with being a political activist. Unfortunately, the left has consistently refused to play by any type of Marquess of Queensberry Rules on these matters, so it’s not exactly a surprise that some on the right will return the favor when the opportunity presents itself.

Here’s a suggestion for Democrats and leftists going forward: If your arguments really do hold all the water you want people to think they do, send an adult to make them. Sending a child to do an adult’s job is beneath contempt, and is a good indicator that your arguments weren’t on solid footing to begin with.

Meghan McCain Dares the Democrats to Impeach: ‘Unleash the Kraken!’

On Tuesday’s The View, very anti-Trump Meghan McCain — who, along with her family, has officially endorsed Joe Biden for a 2020 takeover — dared the Dems to go ahead with impeachment.

Talk of the “I” word has surged recently, but it’s a song that seems to have been playing from the very beginning on Trump’s presidency. They may have turned down the volume at times, but that record’s broken.

Can somebody just unplug the thing?

Even the news has been trying to oust the guy — in July of 2018, I wrote the article “CNN Asks: Are We (Finally) Ready For Impeachment?

Part of me believes they’ll still be looking to the process long after Trump’s tenure. Perhaps in 2027, President Stormy Daniels will retroactively find a way.

But as for the efforts of the moment, Meghan offered a warning.

She ain’t thinkin’ it’ll go well:

“I will say, [co-host Sunny Hostin] has been a proponent throughout the entire time we’ve been talking about it on the show of impeachment. I will say — okay, let me finish. Unleash the kraken! If you’re not going to listen to Nancy Pelosi about the political implications of this, just impeach him then, and see what happens politically.”

Some believe the 1998 impeachment of Bill Clinton hurt the Republicans more than the Commander-in-Chief, and Meghan can easily see history repeating itself:

“What happened with Clinton in the ‘90s ended up hurting Republicans and I think historians said it too. Just impeach him, then. Because quite frankly, I’m sick of hearing everybody b*tch about it.”

Yep. She’s a woman sick of it (piece of advice: Never mess with a woman who’s sick of it):

“I’m sick of hearing the infighting with Democrats, clearly progressives are running the party.Again, if he has, in fact, as Abby said, extorted —”

Joy interrupted. She assured the Dems are cool, Daddy-O:

“Don’t worry about the Democrats. The Democrats are going to get it together.”

“Are you sure about that?” McCain returned.

“Yes.”

Meghan laughed:

“On election night, I want that clip right up here.”
