The media are really covering themselves in glory at this point.

As I wrote yesterday, the latest “bombshell” involving a phone call between Trump and Ukraine’s president blew up in the launch tube. For the better part of 12 hours, we were subjected to baseless speculation and “anonymous sources” claiming Trump had dangled foreign aid as an extortion tool to get Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden’s possible corruption in the same country.

In the end, it was all garbage. Trump had indeed asked Ukraine to look into the matter, but he had not offered a quid pro quo or done anything else improper. A lot of people people thought they finally had Trump, that this was going to be the thing that finally gets him impeached. As per usual though, the story lacked vital facts and context.

Well, things just got a lot worse. It turns out the supposed “whistle-blower” hadn’t even heard the phone call in question, nor seen a transcript.

You’ve got to be kidding me.

Even as CNN runs a headline claiming the scandal deepens, the actual story here continues to go up in flames. How can you be a whistle-blower when you don’t even have direct knowledge of what you are claiming? The answer is that you can’t.

What we have here is a partisan within the dumpster fire that is our intelligence bureaucracies playing resistance hero. He or she thought they could force the release of this call to embarrass Trump but all ended up backfiring. Now, it’s Biden who’s facing renewed scrutiny.

Meanwhile, the same “conservatives” and media members who always fall for this stuff got suckered again. Or perhaps they are just doing it on purpose at this point? That’s probably more likely.

The woman complaining today was a beneficiary of Ukrainian collusion in 2016.

As Bonchie has detailed the Trump/Ukraine hysterics are beginning to unravel like a sweater in a Soviet-bloc department store. Turns out there was no such forcible deal being provoked by the President, and in fact, it looks like a case of sheer desperate distraction by the press/Democrats.

What was initially accused as being a setup to “fix” the upcoming 2020 election by compelling the Ukraine to look into Biden for political oppo-research has instead become an investigation into things that transpired in the last election. As a form of distraction the press has been alluding to conspiracies going forward when in fact the issue was about looking backward. And Hillary has tripped over her own tongue.

In what has become standard practice within the media in the Trump era a brash story is announced and many leftist opponents respond with over-the-top outrage. Then, once the actual details of the story become known, it dies a quick but very silent death. (The recent Brett Kavanaugh hysterics were the latest example.) Yet everyone remembers the outrage and that echoes onward. Hillary Clinton was an active participant in this media 2-step hoedown yesterday, and she really should have known better.

Hillary has claimed that what transpired was the Trump administration attempting to leverage the Ukraine authorities into providing dirt on Joe Biden, for the purpose of aiding his reelection efforts next year. Hillary sent out a tweet declaring, “The president asked a foreign power to help him win an election. Again.”

There are two monumental problems with Clinton chirping about this incident.

First, John Solomon last night provided something the press has been steadfast in avoiding — details, and facts. In defiance of the hysterical news reports (many which resorted to qualifying phrases such as “if true”) it turns out that this summer it was the State Department that asked the administration to meet with Ukrainian authorities. The reason? To help the new Ukrainian President develop relations, as they looked into possible issues emanating from the Obama administration. It had nothing to do with the 2020 election, outside of whether results will impact things in the future.

Of course, this will be memory-holed, given that this came out in the document-dump vortex of late Friday and it completely disrupts their anti-Trump narrative. The press will avoid this story like audiences avoid John Travolta films. The second issue with Hillary? It was her, and her campaign, and the DNC that was in coordination with the Ukrainians during the 2016 election.

Recall the name Alexandra Chalupa? She was a Ukranian-American consultant to the DNC. She coordinated with the Democrats and the Ukranian embassy to feed information about Paul Manafort to the media, in the effort to derail the Trump campaign. And, small reminder, this was all inspired by the Steele dossier, created through Fusion GPS at the behest of Hillary’s lawyers, and the DNC.

So for Hillary to now come forward and talk of foreign powers helping campaigns — specifically Ukraine — is as brazen a move as there is. However, once you consider the way the press had completely avoided this aspect of the election, all while screeching how inappropriate Trump’s disproven connection to Russia had been, you can understand her confidence she would not be held accountable for these words either.

New Revelations About Giuliani’s Contact With Ukrainian Officials Blows Up Media’s Narrative

Westlake Legal Group giuliani-620x759 New Revelations About Giuliani’s Contact With Ukrainian Officials Blows Up Media’s Narrative Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky Rudy Giuliani President Trump Mainstream Media John Solomon Joe Biden Impeachment of President Trump hunter biden Hillary Clinton Front Page Stories Featured Story donald trump democrats Dan Bongino corruption collusion Andrei Yermak Allow Media Exception 2020

The media has spent the last three days in a frenzy over what they hope will become the next Trump administration scandal. And Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani has found himself right at the center of it after his unfortunate interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo.

The Hill’s John Solomon, a long-time investigative reporter with extensive connections inside the intelligence community, has revealed new information about Rudy Giuliani’s engagement with Ukrainian officials. His sources have also provided a timeline of all communication between them.

Contrary to what the media is reporting, Giuliani did not initiate contact with Ukrainian officials. Instead, Solomon reports that a State Department official, a senior U.S. diplomat, contacted Giuliani in July to ask if he would agree to speak with Andrei Yermak, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s top advisor and attorney. State both encouraged and facilitated this meeting. Solomon writes:

Giuliani met in early August with Yermak on neutral ground — in Spain — before reporting back to State everything that occurred at the meeting.

That debriefing occurred Aug. 11 by phone with two senior U.S. diplomats, one with responsibility for Ukraine and the other with responsibility for the European Union, according to electronic communications records I reviewed and interviews I conducted.

On Friday, Giuliani spoke to Solomon. He confirmed that the State Department asked him to meet with Yermak and said he apprised State officials “every step of the way.”

Giuliani told Solomon, “I didn’t even know who he (Yermak) really was, but they vouched for him. They actually urged me to talk to him because they said he seemed like an honest broker. I reported back to them (the two State officials) what my conversations with Yermak were about. All of this was done at the request of the State Department.”

And yes, Giuliani did speak with Yermak about former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden. But the reason for that was far different than what the media would have us believe.

(Note: Solomon points out that, even if that had been the sole purpose for meeting with him, it would not have been illegal.)

Solomon interviewed over a dozen Ukrainian and U.S. officials and learned that the Ukrainian government had been trying since the summer 2018 to “hand over evidence about the conduct of Americans they believe might be involved in violations of U.S. law during the Obama years.”

The Ukrainians say their efforts to get their allegations to U.S. authorities were thwarted first by the U.S. embassy in Kiev, which failed to issue timely visas allowing them to visit America.

Then the Ukrainians hired a former U.S. attorney — not Giuliani — to hand-deliver the evidence of wrongdoing to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New York, but the federal prosecutors never responded.

What a surprise that the SDNY failed to act on the Ukrainian information.

Solomon interviewed the retired attorney, whom he described as reputable, and he confirmed the story.

The allegations that Ukrainian officials wanted to pass on involved both efforts by the Democratic National Committee to pressure Ukraine to meddle in the 2016 U.S. election as well as Joe Biden’s son’s effort to make money in Ukraine while the former vice president managed U.S.-Ukraine relations, the U.S. attorney told me.

Giuliani learned of this in November 2018 and began to investigate. And why wouldn’t he? In November, the special counsel investigation was still ongoing and it was possible this new information could help in Trump’s defense. In addition, if the Bidens had been involved in questionable activities, the administration had every right to know about it.

So, although Giuliani did not travel to Ukraine, he began making inquiries. He had planned to visit the country in the summer, but Ukrainian officials leaked word of his plans, likely those from the pro-Hillary Clinton faction. Following the uproar in the press, Giuliani canceled his plans. And he stopped talking to the Ukrainian officials.

Solomon writes that his American and foreign sources told him:

Ukrainian officials worried that the slight of Giuliani might hurt their relations with his most famous client, Trump.

And Trump himself added to the dynamic by encouraging Ukraine’s leaders to work with Giuliani to surface the evidence of alleged wrongdoing that has been floating around for more than two years, my sources said.

It is likely that the State Department’s overture to Giuliani in July was designed to allay fears of a diplomatic slight and to assure the nascent Ukrainian administration that everything would be okay between the two allies.

The belief was that if Zelensky’s top lawyer could talk to Trump’s top lawyer, everything could be patched up, officials explained to me.

Ukrainian officials told Solomon they are privately considering sending their information directly to Congress.

Democrats and the mainstream media have a strong interest in preventing this information from seeing the light of day because it likely involves corruption by pro-Hillary officials and staffers inside the Embassy in Kiev prior to the 2016 election. This activity has been chronicled in Dan Bongino’s book, “Spygate.” It may even include information about the origin and authenticity/inauthenticity of the infamous “black ledger” which “randomly” turned up in August 2016 and forced Paul Manafort to resign from his position as manager of the Trump campaign and marked the beginning of his legal problems.

If it includes evidence of serious or illegal actions by Hunter Biden while his father served as the Obama administration’s “point man” on Ukraine, it could force Joe Biden out of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination. That may happen anyway.

The mainstream media, as always, is practicing selective reporting. They are trying to present last week’s developments as a new reason to impeach Trump. And they will be proven wrong. Again.

“She’s Hollywood”: AOC’s Primary Challenger Is Fired Up, Says ‘Squad’ Leader Is Absentee Congresswoman

The Squad progressives Politics North Carolina New York Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story Featured Post elections democrats Culture Congress Campaigns Badrun Khan AOC Allow Media Exception Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez 2020 Primary 2020 Elections 2020

Queens activist Badrun Khan, a Democratic primary challenger to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14), speaks on Fox News – 9/19/19. Screen grab via Fox News.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez stunned political observers in June 2018 when she defeated longtime Congressional Rep. Joe Crowley in the NY-14 Democratic primary. Since that time, she’s been given non-stop fawning media coverage, is treated like a queen by radical progressive activists, and her endorsement has become a must-have for any staunchly liberal/socialist Democrat running for election or reelection.

But while several Republicans announced their intentions earlier this year to run for the opportunity to battle her in the 2020 general election, you only heard murmurings and anonymous reports about potential Democratic primary challengers.

Until now.

Queens activist and Democrat Badrun Khan has thrown her hat into the ring, and appeared on Fox News Thursday to talk about her candidacy. She also explained why she thought Ocasio-Cortez should be a one-term Congresswoman. Here’s what Khan said:

Activist Badrun Khan, who is challenging Ocasio-Cortez for the Democratic nomination to represent New York’s 14th Congressional District, said the media darling is not doing enough to represent her constituents.

“She is Hollywood and Washington,” said Khan, the daughter of Bengali immigrants.

What’s more, she said the worldview of Ocasio-Cortez is not indicative of their Queens constituency, claiming: “They aren’t looking for socialism.”

Khan also blasted AOC for an issue we’ve read about in the New York media before: allegations that she’s an absentee representative.

“She’s never in the district. She’s not sure what’s happening in the district. She opened her [district] office pretty late after she was elected,” said Khan.

The “Government Reform” section of her website contains this not-so-veiled swipe at Ocasio-Cortez:

“Congressional Representatives fall in love with media and Washington DC and fail to represent the District they promised to serve. Badrun will never lose sight of who sent her to Washington and who she is responsible to.

In addition to criticizing the freshman Congresswoman on Fox News for her role in Amazon canceling major expansion plans in New York City that would have brought in 25,000 jobs, Khan also questioned the Green New Deal and some of AOC’s other pet issues due to their high cost:

Khan said she wants to enhance Medicare and Social Security but appeared to take a shot at “Medicare-for-all” — a plan championed by progressives like Ocasio-Cortez.

“I am not a politician, I am a mother,” Khan said. “Everything is easier said — how is it going to be done?”

Watch her interview below:

Though AOC was a bartender before she was elected, she did have some political background. She was a volunteer for Sen. Bernie Sanders’ 2016 primary campaign against Hillary Clinton, and she also interned for the late Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA).

From what I’ve read about her, Khan has no political background outside of being an activist in her community (which is not a bad thing).

She definitely will have an uphill battle to win the primary, considering AOC’s connections and money machine, but stranger things have happened.

It would be nice for a Republican to win the district but it’s heavily Democratic, so whoever wins the primary will win the general election. While I’m not a Democrat and don’t support Democrats, one who Republicans could work with and who seems to have a decent degree of understanding about fiscal responsibility would be much more preferable than the politically opportunistic drama queen who represents NY-14 now.

CNN Speaks To Voters In What’s Always Been A Democratic Stronghold In MN; He Hears The Unexpected

Westlake Legal Group minnesota-620x408 CNN Speaks To Voters In What’s Always Been A Democratic Stronghold In MN; He Hears The Unexpected Ilhan Omar Front Page Stories Featured Story Eveleth Mayor Robert Vlaisavljevich elections donald trump democrats CNN's Martin Savidge Allow Media Exception 2020

The Iron Range in northern Minnesota has been deep blue forever. CNN’s Martin Savidge traveled to this rural area to speak to voters and found that many of them plan to cast their vote for President Trump. Savidge tells viewers:

Once a Democratic stronghold, many of the voters we talk to here say more and more, they align with the President. This is mining country. Not coal mining, but taconite, a mineral used in making steel. Forty or fifty years ago, the Iron Range, as it’s called, was booming bringing big city prosperity to small towns like Eveleth.

Savidge asked the town’s mayor, Robert Vlaisavljevich, “Are we talking thousands of people sort of shifting and changing their politics?”

“Yes,” answered the mayor. “Oh, yeah…Things were just going gangbusters, businesses all over. Then when it crashed, everybody was caught by surprise. It crashed hard.”

Savidge narrates: The number of mining jobs in the region went from over 14,000 in the 1980s to just about 4,500 today, leaving families and main streets to suffer.

Vlaisavljevich has been the mayor of Eveleth for eighteen years on and off. He votes Democratic in state races. But he’s got a Trump sticker on his desk, a Christmas card from the President on his bulletin board and the deer on his office wall sports a MAGA hat.

Savidge asks, “The political support for the President, part of that is just survival?”

The mayor replies, “Economics…He’s our guy. He supports mining. He’s our guy.”

Savidge spoke with a couple, perhaps in their fifties. The man said, “Her brothers were staunch union Democrats for years and they’re not anymore.”

Savidge tells viewers that “Trump’s tariffs on imported steel are popular. So is his easing of environmental regulations. They also like his crackdown on immigration.”

He shifts gears. “In a state that’s 80% white, the influx of Somali refugees has been a contentious issue. Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar is a controversial figure here.”

The mayor said, “She offends a lot of people.”

“Savidge says, “she’s not popular here.”

“No, not at all,” responds the mayor.

“Folks here say they didn’t leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left them.”

Minnesota has voted Democratic in most presidential elections since 1932. Nixon won the state in 1972. Since then, no Republican has prevailed in the state. Not even Reagan in 1984.

In 2016, Trump came close, but lost the state by 1.5%, or 44,765 votes out of nearly 2,700,000 cast. It’s possible, with even a small shift away from the Democratic Party in the rural areas, that Trump could carry the state in 2020. And I’m sure he will try.

Watch the video.

As Predicted, that Trump-Ukraine “Whistle-Blower” Story Just Blew Up In Epic Fashion

Westlake Legal Group AS As Predicted, that Trump-Ukraine “Whistle-Blower” Story Just Blew Up In Epic Fashion quid pro quo Politics No Corruption Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story fake news Election donald trump democrats Blown Up biden 2020

What do I win?

Earlier this morning, I wrote a piece predicting that this story about Trump and Ukraine, supposedly involving a quid pro quo and an investigation request into Joe Biden, would blow up. The centerpiece of this was Biden being on tape bragging that he threatened to withhold $1 billion in loan guarantees if Ukraine didn’t fire a prosecutor. That prosecutor just happened to be going after his son’s company. Just a coincidence, I’m assured.

Here’s the tape of Biden.

Somehow though, this became a Trump scandal because a supposed “whistle-blower” claimed that the President had pressured Ukraine to investigate Biden’s very apparent corruption. I know, it makes no sense, but that’s how it works in the age of orange man bad. Somehow being on tape extorting a country wasn’t a big deal, but Trump wanting an investigation into it by our ally was impeachable. The media immediately went into leak and supposition mode, claiming that Trump had threatened the new Ukrainian President by withholding of $250 million in military aid they desperately needed.

This was it we were told. It was the scandal that would finally bring Trump down. And then, like always happens, more information started to trickle out that countered the hysteria.

Per The Wall Street Journal.

President Trump in a July phone call repeatedly pressured the president of Ukraine to investigate Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden ’s son, urging Volodymyr Zelensky about eight times to work with Rudy Giuliani, his personal lawyer, on a probe, according to people familiar with the matter.

“He told him that he should work with [Mr. Giuliani] on Biden, and that people in Washington wanted to know” whether allegations were true or not, one of the people said. Mr. Trump didn’t mention a provision of foreign aid to Ukraine on the call, said this person, who didn’t believe Mr. Trump offered the Ukrainian president any quid-pro-quo for his cooperation on an investigation…

And there it is. There was no quid-pro-quo. He did not threaten to withhold military aid. He simply asked several times on a single phone call for them to look into it. He never even called back to press the issue further. None of the nonsensical gnashing of teeth we heard all day about this supposedly being an impeachment bombshell is true. A President asked an ally to investigate corruption that Biden himself admitted to on tape.

Some still can’t let this go though. We have certain conservatives of the anti-Trump bent asserting that the President didn’t actually have to say the words to be asking for a quid-pro-quo. Actually, yes, yes he does have to say the words. Especially when we know the military aid went through anyway despite no investigation being opened by Ukraine. The idea that we are now going to go after Trump based on suppositions of what Ukraine should have deemed from a perfectly legal request is asinine.

Look, I realize some had a lot invested in this, but how many times must they learn this lesson? How hard is it to wait 24 hours and see what else comes out? If a story fits a partisan narrative too perfectly, it’s probably not true or lacking context.

The other thing I’m hearing is that even if this wasn’t illegal or impeachable, it was still wrong because he asked a foreign leader to help him in a way that would benefit him politically. Frankly, I could not care less. These are the new rules. In 2016, the Obama administration went after the Trump campaign based on what they claimed were legitimate suspicions. We have Biden on tape. I’d say that’s a legitimate suspicion. Further, the DNC used Ukraine to get dirt on Paul Manafort. The Hillary campaign hired a foreign spy to build a dossier of opposition research on Trump. So spare me the moral lectures on using foreign sources.

This is politics, not religion and the only way you gather information on corruption by opponents in foreign countries is by using foreign sources. Democrats, the media, and some anti-Trump Republicans do not get to change the rules all the sudden when they don’t benefit them anymore. The precedent was set in 2016 and they will be made to live by it.

Meanwhile, the scramble is on to try to salvage what little is left of this story exploding in their faces. We’ll get all the usual excuses and claims that even though Trump didn’t do it, he’s still bad. The Washington Post will push out a dozen editorials all saying the same thing. The song and dance never changes. For all practical purposes though, this story is dead and done as far as Trump goes.

Biden’s involvement on the other hand? That story will only grow.

If you live in either a red or purple state, chances are it’s been subjected to state-funded travel bans from solidly blue states like New York or California.

Oftentimes these bans are in response to actions taken by state legislatures who are trying to ensure religious freedoms and/or the rights of women and children (including the unborn) are not infringed upon by militant left wing groups who are paid big bucks to sue businesses and states into oblivion for failure to comply with their radical agendas.

Such is the case for Iowa, which was added to California’s travel ban list earlier this month by state Attorney General Xavier Becerra:

California announced last week that it has added Iowa to the list of states on its ever-expanding “travel ban” list because of that state’s new prohibition against funding gender-transition surgeries under Medicaid.

The announcement by state Attorney General Xavier Becerra means that as of Oct. 4, California will no longer offer taxpayer-funded trips to Iowa for any public employee or student at a state-run university.

Becerra’s authority came from a 2016 California law signed by then-Gov. Jerry Brown that bars state-funded travel to other states that undercut LGBT rights. The blacklist already included Alabama, Kentucky, North Carolina, Texas, Oklahoma and Mississippi.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds responded appropriately to the news:

Gov. Kim Reynolds on Wednesday countered California’s announced ban on taxpayer-funded trips to Iowa by touting the state’s “nice” image as a welcoming place and urging disenchanted California businesses and residents to consider relocating to the Midwest.
[…]
Asked Wednesday about California’s planned travel ban, Reynolds said: “I think the Iowa story is my response. We are knocking it out of the park when it comes to a pro-growth, pro-business environment with opportunities.”

By contrast, she said, California is “heading in the wrong direction” with businesses “fleeing” a climate of rising taxes, “skyrocketing” costs to live and do business, and the “highest homeless population” in the nation.

“They’ve got a lot of issues going on in California,” Reynolds said.

Iowa is the 11th state to be added to California’s travel ban.

Perhaps the best take on the ban outside of Sen. Ted Cruz’s comes from the Babylon Bee, which quipped that other states were “begging” to be added to California’s travel ban list:

While just eleven states are currently on the list, dozens more are applying. Soon, almost every state except Oregon and New York will be on the list, and peace and utopia will break out across the nation as CA politicians will no longer be able to go there and say weird things and do even dumber things.

The states were disappointed to learn that the ban didn’t include all Californians, but they said banning just the politicians was a good start, since they’re the ones who ruined the state to begin with.

*Chef’s kiss.*

NBA Legend Charles Barkley Slams Democrats for Only Talking to Black People ‘Every Four Years’

I like NBA legend Charles Barkley. He’s a guy who says what he thinks and doesn’t really care how anyone feels about it.

Not so long ago, that was called “strong.” These days, I believe it’s called being an insensitive jerk. For a significant other, that’s probably accurate, but when it comes to national personalities, to a point, I prefer the previous interpretation.

And on Wednesday, Charles had strong words for Democrats.

Speaking to Michael Smerconish on SiriusXM, the sports icon recalled his efforts for Doug Jones during the 2017 race against Republican Roy Moore.

Barkley explained that he pledged Doug his assistance but ripped Dems in general:

“I said ‘Doug, I’m going to support you. I’m going to try to get every black person in Alabama to vote for you.’ And it worked out. We won for the first time in 40 years. But I said, ‘We need to start holding you Democrats accountable’ because they’ve been taking black people’s votes – and they only talk to black people every four years. All of these politicians only talk to black people every four years because they want their vote.”

And they offer nothing:

“Oh, actually, the Republicans don’t, the Democrats do. But when they get elected, they do nothing in the four years in between.”

The Alabama man also asserted Trump supporters are being wrongfully characterized as racist:

“I don’t think everybody who voted for Trump is racist … I think some of them are, but I don’t think everybody who voted for Trump is racist. But this thing started way, way back. When we started shipping all our jobs overseas many, many years ago, it was really going to have a negative effect in the long run; you notice now that all these malls and places are closing because people are doing all their shopping online, that’s going to have a negative effect … that’s not the President’s fault.”

The power forward doesn’t like talk of race being inserted where it doesn’t belong. He made that clear in January of 2016, when he accused ESPN of extreme goofiness in its framing of the Broncos/Panthers game, featuring white quarterback Peyton Manning and black QB Cam Newton:

“ESPN has already started their crap about black versus white, good versus evil—and I know a lot of those fools over there got radio talk shows. … It really annoys the hell out of me. We really just can’t appreciate the greatness of Peyton. And, clearly, Cam is on the track to become one of the greatest players ever. You can already see them framing this narrative ‘black versus white, good versus evil.’”

He said race sells:

“The best way to make talk radio good is to make it racial. … I hate bringing up the race card because there’s more important race stuff, but race does have something to do with it. There is a racial component, but I hate talking about that because we, as black people, we got way more important things where race is a factor than something silly like sports.”

As for “more important things,” when Doug Jones toppled Roy during the special election two years ago, Charles told CNN he was proud of Alabama, but he also grilled Democrats then as well, saying they needed to “get off their a**”:

“I’m so proud of my state. I love my state. We got some amazing people here. Yeah, we got a bunch of rednecks and a bunch of ignorant people, but we got some amazing people here and they rose up today. … It’s time for [Democrats] to get off their a** and start making life better for black folks and people who are poor.”

The Left Decide They Are Against Environmentalism Because Orange Man Bad

A city worker uses a power washer to clean the sidewalk by a tent city along Division Street Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, in San Francisco. Homeless people have until the end of Friday to vacate a rambling tent city along a busy San Francisco street declared a health hazard by city officials earlier this week. The mayor’s office says about 40 tents remain, down from a high of 140 tents this winter. The tents have lined both sides of a street under a freeway overpass for months, drawing complaints from residents and businesses. (AP Photo/Eric Risberg)

I’m starting to think Trump could defecate gold bars for every American citizen and the left would still find a way to oppose him.

Case in point, San Francisco is a dumpster of feces and used drug needles. Literally, hundreds of thousands of used needles a month get thrown onto the streets and they are overwhelming those tasked with picking them up. California’s ordinances on the homeless are only making matters worse, as the police can not move people off public sidewalks, leading to shanty towns popping up in business and residential areas. There’s even a law which says shop-lifting under $900 of merchandise is only a misdeamenor, which means thieves are able to walk into stores and take whatever they want up to that point with little chance of arrest or pursuit.

It’s just a mess. You know what else it is? Bad for the environment. Used needles, trash cities, and human feces are things you’d think the left would join with Republicans on in agreeing they are bad and have to go. But nah, they are complaining that the EPA is going to cite the violations and start fining cities for not doing their jobs.

Naturally, because Trump must be opposed, this has drawn gnashing of teeth from the left, who’ve suddenly decided they don’t like the EPA anymore after treating it as a sacrosanct, quazi-religious organization throughout the Obama years.

London Breed, the mayor of San Francisco, hit back at Trump over his remarks, arguing the city was doing its part to try and address its homeless population by investing in shelter beds and mental health services.

“The president is cutting clean air and clean water standards, restricting our ability to regulate car emissions, and denying climate change even exists,” Breed tweeted. “He’s cut funding for homelessness and affordable housing. In SF, we’re meeting the challenges on our streets.”

No you aren’t. You’ve failed miserably and instead of blaming everyone else and complaining that Trump is looking to act, maybe you could try governing your city better?

Yes, I’d say living on the streets, dumping uses needles, and defecating in public is in fact an environmental violation. Is their some statute that says the homeless can’t be the cause of violations of EPA regulations? I don’t remember this kind of sympathy from the left when poor land owners were having their property seized under the Obama administration by deeming standing water as protected bodies of water.

Other’s, like Gov. Gavin Newsom, are complaining that Trump won’t give him federal money to clean the mess up. The President is right to not do so. California is a dumpster fire of mismanagement. The last thing that needs to happen is for money from more responsible states to be shifted into the coffers of the Democrat led joke that is the California state and local governments.

The left loves environmentalism, or so I’m told. They should be lauding Trump for enforcing regulations here and pressing their representatives to act. No matter how hard they try, there’s noway to pin this mess on Trump. This is all a result of Democrat policies. Perhaps the residents in California will finally wake up one day and try something different.

The #NewRules Say Justin Trudeau Must Resign and Conservatives Should Be the Last To Defend Him

The fluffy, girly-man prime minister of the Great White North is embroiled in the woke type of scandal possible. Several images have surfaced of Justin Trudeau in blackface as late as 2001.

Now Trudeau finds himself in hot water

A few observations on this. First, if Trudeau felt sufficiently comfortable to appear in public in blackface in 2001 then he did it pretty regularly. Second, I don’t think Trudeau is a racist–he’s just a very strange dude who has been one of the cool kids so long that he thinks whatever he does is cool. Third, Trudeau has been a driving force in the growth of the whole “cancel culture” thing where an offense against woke sensibilities at any time in your life will result in a SJW lynch mob descending upon you to attempt to deprive you of livelihood and reputation.

And now, we’re being asked to forgive him because we’re f***ing idiots conservatives:

I’ve really run out of patience with this bullsh**. The issue is not whether Trudeau is a racist or even if he should resign in shame (a leftist with shame…I made myself laugh at the thought). The issue is what are the current rules (yes, blackface is a fireable offense under those rules) and why should the beneficiary of a change to those rules be a guy who has used them as a weapon at every stage of his political career?

Earlier in the month, Breitbart managed to get Dr. Jamie R. Riley, University of Alabama’s assistant vice president and dean of students fired for a series of blatantly racist tweets which called into question his ability to deal with white students in a manner that was not calculated to demean or penalize them. Reason, naturally, went to bat for him claiming that we can’t be against the cancel culture and not oppose Riley’s firing. It was the kind of specious bullsh** that has made Reason the stinking vortex of fail that it is. I posted on it here.

My view is that it isn’t terribly difficult to hold these two competing ideas in one’s mind. On the one hand we can all acknowledge that the “cancel culture” should end. It is corrosive of civility and it is just stupid. Having said that we can also say that we’re not going to engage in unilateral disarmament. Why should conservatives, of all people, go to bat for a guy like Justin Trudeau who, quite honestly, is probably not in any real danger and who will treat any assistance we give him as weakness. No matter how many of these leftists we go to bat for, it is never going to change the calculus if our people get punished and we let their’s go scot-free. It won’t. The only way this changes is if we go after theirs with the same vengeance that they go after ours. Either they’ll get tired or they won’t. Whatever path they choose is on them.

The reason they want conservatives to lead the charge on this is simple. If we support him, then they have a reason to ignore their own rules and let him survive. On the other hand, if we go with the #NewRules, they either play by them and destroy Trudeau (highly unlikely) or they reveal, as they did in the case of Virginia Governor Ralph Northam and Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring, that the #NewRules are only a pathetic sham that are strictly used as a club with which to belabor political opponents.
