Former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO). Screen grab via MSNBC.

Though Joe Biden has faced lots of criticism in Democratic party circles in recent days for speaking on being able to work with segregationist Senators to get things done, one Democrat is rushing to his defense – and making some bizarre comparisons in the process.

Former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) appeared on MSNBC Thursday morning to discuss the backlash the 2020 frontrunner has received, and she was specifically asked about Sen. Cory Booker’s (D-NJ) strong reaction to what Biden said.

Noting that Biden and Booker were “both good friends” of hers, McCaskill claimed that “context” was needed on this issue. She then went on a rambling explanation about how 60 votes are needed in the Senate to get things done, and that Biden’s overall point was correct – that you have to be able to work with people you don’t necessarily like in order to find common ground and pass legislation.

She then stated that “Biden is trying to convey that he can work with really creepy, stinky people.” Immediately after that is when she referenced Senators that Booker and other Democrats have had to work with.

“And by the way, Cory Booker worked with Jeff Sessions. And AOC is workin’ with Ted Cruz. I mean these are pretty stinky, creepy people themselves, right?”

After wrongly equating Republican Sens. Cruz and Sessions to segregationist Democratic Sens. Eastland and Talmadge, the former Missouri Senator – ironically – said it was a “big mistake” for Biden to use Eastland and Talmadge as examples.

Watch the segment below:

The problem with McCaskill’s argument isn’t just that she’s looney tunes when comparing Cruz and Sessions to Eastland and Talmadge, but also in the fact that in the early days of Biden’s career he actively sought help from Democratic segregationist Senators to help him argue against one of the left’s signature issues: Mandatory busing as a way to help desegregate public schools:

Biden himself wasn’t against desegregation, but opposed forced busing as a means to achieve that goal. But because he didn’t go all in on it means, in modern terms, that his nuanced position was no better than the “creepy, stinky” racist Democratic Senators who he sought to work with at the time.

That said, those are the left’s rules of engagement these days. And while it’s good to see them actually applying their (normally double) standards to one of their own, McCaskill really should just stick to Games of Thrones critiques.

Because when it comes to making political comparisons, she sounds a little too “creepy, stinky” to be taken seriously.

As Red State‘s Bonchie wrote yesterday, Joe Biden landed himself in hot water with fellow Democrats on Wednesday. The 2020 presidential contender spoke earlier this week on being able to work with segregationist Senators in the interest of “civility” long ago to get things done.

What Biden didn’t mention is the fact that the Senators in question were segregationists – and Democrats.

A brief recap, via CNN:

During a fundraising event in New York, the Democratic presidential candidate recounted being a member of the Senate in the 1970s with southern Democrats who opposed civil rights and desegregation. He specifically named Mississippi Sen. James Eastland and Georgia Sen. Herman Talmadge, who Biden called “one of the meanest guys I ever knew.”

“I was in a caucus with James O. Eastland. He never called me ‘boy,’ he always called me ‘son,’ ” Biden told donors.

“Well guess what? At least there was some civility. We got things done,” Biden said. “We didn’t agree on much of anything. We got things done. We got it finished.”

“But today, you look at the other side and you’re the enemy. Not the opposition, the enemy. We don’t talk to each other anymore,” he said.

The two Senators he mentioned were not exactly politicians you wanted to be bragging about getting along with, as Bonchie noted in his post. In response to Biden’s comments, a number of other presidential candidates, including Sens. Cory Booker (NJ), Kamala Harris (CA), and Elizabeth Warren (MA) blasted the Democratic front-runner.

During an MSNBC segment on the controversy, anchor Kasie Hunt mislabeled the two Senators as Republicans:

MSNBC Host Kasie Hunt called segregationist Democrats “Republicans” on Wednesday when referencing Joe Biden’s remarks about civility with segregationists in the Senate.

“Still to come, Joe Biden references his relationships with two former Republican colleagues at an event in New York City. The only problem? They were both segregationists,” Hunt said, referring to Herman Talmadge and James Eastland, who were both Democratic senators.

[…]

Hunt did not correct her comments when she returned from the break.

Watch the segment below:

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) got wind of the news of Hunt’s flub, and took to the Twitter machine to provide a quick but necessary history lesson:

Hunt later issued a correction, but it was long after the segment was over:

Sure. Like 24 hours after the damage has been done. But okay.

Rush Limbaugh Has a Nasty Reality Check for Joe Biden

Westlake Legal Group Rush-Limbaugh-Ditto-Cam-620x325 Rush Limbaugh Has a Nasty Reality Check for Joe Biden republicans rallies polls Politics Joe Biden Front Page Stories Featured Story elections donald trump democrats Campaigns Allow Media Exception 2020 Elections 2020

The size of the crowds President Donald Trump draws in can’t be ignored. The guy packs stadiums that result in overflow crowds that number in the thousands.

Rush Limbaugh couldn’t help but notice this as well as he watched the events unfold for Donald Trump’s campaign stop in Orlando, Florida. Thousands had come to see the President speak, and waited for hours beforehand to do so, making it look like the launch of a new iPhone back in Apple’s heyday.

According to the Daily Wire’s James Barrett, Limbaugh senses bad weather on the horizon for Democrat primary shoo-in Joe Biden, the man Democrats have likely decided to take on Trump:

“Imagine if you’re Joe Biden last night,” said Rush (transcript via RushLimbaugh.com). “You’re Joe Biden last night, and your advisers come in, and they say, ‘Joe, don’t sweat it, don’t sweat anything that happened last night. What happened last night doesn’t mean anything, Joe. The debates are the only thing that matter, Joe, and you’re gonna wipe the floor with this guy, Joe. You’re gonna wipe the floor about him in the debates, and you got the big money behind you, Joe. You got fundraisers, you’re setting records all over. Joe, don’t sweat this stuff last night.’”

But then came a tweet from Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel early Wednesday morning: “Donald Trump has raised a record-breaking $24.8 million in less than 24 hours for his reelection,” she announced. “The enthusiasm across the country for this president is unmatched, unlike anything we have ever seen.”

That’s no small amount of cash. Not to mention the fact that it puts to shame other fundraising efforts by Democrats. Bernie Sanders raised $18 million by comparison.

Poll after poll indicates that Biden does have the edge over Trump, but as I discussed on Wednesday, we’ve seen this before in 2016. Hillary Clinton was set to slam Trump in almost every poll, but his packed rallies were telling a different story.

The Daily Wire also notes that other polls are giving us a different view of the landscape, which Limbaugh cites:

The Firehouse-Optimus poll, conducted from June 11-13, shows Trump with a tremendous surge in Pennsylvania; Biden had an eight-point lead in March that has narrowed to a scant one-point lead. The Trump “base” in Pennsylvania has a huge lead over the Democratic “base.” Trump’s stands at 42%, dwarfing the Democrats’, which is at 24%. … Since March, Biden’s lead over Trump in Wisconsin has shrunk from 12 percentage points to six. The Trump “base” in Wisconsin, according to the poll, rests at 37%; the Democratic “base” stands at 32%. Trump’s approval rating has risen from 41% to 44% since March. In Michigan, where the Trump “base” is 39% and the Democratic base rests at 32%, Trump and Biden were tied in March; Biden now holds a slim three-point lead, leaving them in a statistical dead heat.

At this point, many of the polls touting the strength of Biden’s voting public coming into 2020 is, in a word, unreliable.

Even Chris Cuomo couldn’t help but note that Democrats aren’t packing stadiums like Trump is, and went so far as to ask Democratic presidential candidate Amy Klobuchar why that is. Klobuchar tried to say that Democrats were packing stadiums like Trump, however, this is a bold lie.

Limbaugh is correct in his assessment. All the roads point to failure for Biden at this juncture, and many had that forecast going in.

Top economists predicted Trump’s victory in 2020 back in March due to the fact that when an economy is strong, it’s hard to dislodge a sitting president from office.

“The economy is just so damn strong right now and by all historic precedent the incumbent should run away with it,” said Donald Luskin, chief investment officer of TrendMacrolytics.

“Even if you have a mediocre but not great economy — and that’s more or less consensus for between now and the election — that has a Trump victory and by a not-trivial margin,” said Yale economist Ray Fair.

“If the election were held today, Trump would win according to the models and pretty handily,” said Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics and regular Trump critic. “In three or four of them it would be pretty close. He’s got low gas prices, low unemployment and a lot of other political variables at his back. The only exception is his popularity, which matters a lot. If that falls off a cliff it would make a big difference.”

Biden actually winning would take nothing short of a miracle at this point. While it’s not smart to discount the GOP’s talent for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, Trump’s popularity mixed with his dominance of the economy is essentially his golden ticket to four more years.

Joe Biden Just Committed His First Major Gaffe of the 2020 Race and It’s Pretty Bad

Joe Biden has historically been known as a walking gaffe machine. There’s a reason his prior presidential runs went absolutely nowhere. Even as Vice President, he was basically kept in the background, only popping out every now to prove he was still alive. 2020 was supposed to be different, or so we’ve been told. Biden was supposed to have cleaned up his act, gotten more disciplined, and learned from his mistakes.

That was always a pipe dream though. Men in their late 70s don’t usually change and I’m not even sure they have the capacity to change. The remedy to that so far has to been to keep Biden tucked away, hidden from sight and keeping him out of any situations where he might say something stupid and offensive.

Well, that strategy failed last night because the moment they let Biden off his leash, he did this.

The general notion here isn’t terrible. It should be expected that members have to work together to get things done, even when they vehemently disagree about certain issues.

If you know your history though, Biden’s examples in this case are way out there and highly problematic for several reasons.

James O. Eastland was a particularly nasty racist. He’s on record calling black people everything from slimy, to the n-word, to “African flesh eaters” (for the record, he was also a Democrat). If Biden wanted to give an example of working with people he disagrees with in a civil manner, that’s a pretty crazy and offensive example to give. He couldn’t just talk about his work with Republicans on the crime bill or something?

Biden’s description of never being called “boy” is also tone deaf. Of course the white racist didn’t call the other white guy “boy.” That was language Eastland saved for black Americans throughout much of his life. What this does is make Biden look horrifically out of touch and stupid. It’s akin to saying “well, no one ever denied to serve me in the 1960s” while ignoring that there’s a pretty obvious reason why that is.

But even if you want to give Biden the benefit of the doubt here, the left-wing base of the Democrat party doesn’t. Their entire mantra is ostracizing and punishing. You don’t get to come back from what Eastland said and did. In his case, that might actually be fair. Regardless, Biden citing him as an example of civility is a huge gaffe that sets racial landmines all around his candidacy going forward.

Take this response, for example.

Jentleson may be a former staffer for Harry Reid, but is he wrong? Biden’s campaign trail shtick has been to present himself as having some kind of other worldly ability to get Republicans to do what he wants. So what’s that say about Obama? What aspect about Biden makes him more capable? In reality, it’s just political bluster. Republicans are not going to listen to Biden anymore than they listened to the ridiculous policy proposals of Obama. Overall, it doesn’t come across well though, especially to those who still see Obama as a transcendent, almost messianic figure, i.e. much of the Democrat primary voter base.

I should also note that what Biden did here, tacitly praising segregationists, is almost identical to what Trent Lott did many years back. Lott was run out of Washington for his sins. Biden remains at the top of the Democratic Primary. You do the math on that one.

The final reason this is really bad for Biden goes past his comments and into what he was doing, namely that he was directly attacking the left wing of his party.

“I know the new Left tells me that I’m — this is old-fashioned,” he said. “Well guess what? If we can’t reach a consensus in our system, what happens? It encourages and demands the abuse of power by a president. That’s what it does. You have to be able to reach consensus under our system — our Constitutional system of separation of powers.”

All these comments took place at a swanky fundraiser in New York. He’s obviously playing the the crowd of establishment types who seek a more status quo operation in Washington. But the Democratic primary base wants no such thing and the more Biden snipes at them, the more he alienates a large portion of voters in his party.

This gaffe hits all the major pressure points, from his denigration of the left-wing to the racial overtones of the entire thing. I’ve seen some on Twitter opine that this won’t hurt him. In a vacuum, maybe that’s correct, but why would anyone expect Biden stop here? He’s got many, many more gaffes yet to come and it’s all going to compound.

This is why it’s too early to proclaim him the nominee. The knives will be out as the debates start next week and he’s no longer going to be able to hide at fundraisers or in front of pre-staged union halls. Things are about to get serious and this was just the first of many major missteps that Biden will have.

President Donald Trump officially launched his 2020 reelection campaign last night at a rally in Orlando, Florida. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) was at the rally and posted several pictures on social media of the crowd as well as a videos of VP Mike Pence and Trump speaking.

This did not sit will with New York Times journalist Michael Barbaro, who took to the Twitter machine to sneer at the Senator’s attendance. Here’s what he tweeted:

Barbaro, you may recall, was the journalist who helped “expose” Rubio’s wife’s traffic tickets in 2015 and the Senator’s “luxury speedboat” that was actually a fishing boat, and pondered Rubio’s “fashionable” black boots with a higher heel in 2016.

Rubio noticed Barbaro’s tweet and clapped back at him in a series of tweets:

As Fox News correctly notes, Rubio and Trump were constantly at odds and sniping at each other as competitors for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination. But now that Trump is president, both have settled into a mostly collegial working relationship.

The Media Keeps Parading Trump’s Bad Poll Numbers but Trump’s Packed Rallies Tell a Different Story

Westlake Legal Group trump-at-rally-crowd-SCREENSHOT-620x334 The Media Keeps Parading Trump’s Bad Poll Numbers but Trump’s Packed Rallies Tell a Different Story republicans rally polls Politics Joe Biden Front Page Stories Featured Story elections donald trump democrats Allow Media Exception 2020

Trump isn’t doing as well in the polls as any politician would like and the mainstream media is only too happy to report it. Every morning, clicking on sites like The Hill will give you headlines that tell you how horrible Trump is doing with voters.

GOP frets about poll numbers” trumpets The Hill on Wednesday, who then went into talking about how anonymous Republican pollsters found Trump’s approval ratings “problematic.”

On Tuesday of last week, The Hill also ran a headline titled “Biden leads Trump by ‘landslide proportions’ in new national poll,” which, as the title implies, discusses Joe Biden’s 13 point lead over Trump in a Quinnipiac University survey.

Other outlets such as CBS News, release articles touting the fact that Biden is ahead in key battleground states.

From the media’s telling, you’d think that Trump’s days as President are numbered.

However, the rallies tell a different story.

If a photo can say 1,000 words then all of those words say Trump is going to trounce Biden in 2020. The size differences between the two rallies is stark.

The photo above of Biden’s rally was taken at his initial campaign launch. It’s a decent size to be sure, but interestingly, the reported size of the rally is muddled by various accounts. According to Heavy, one reporter estimated the crowd size at 2,000 while another estimated it at 6,000.

One can assume from the range of numbers that one person is trying to fudge the crowd size. Regardless, Trump’s is clearly larger with an estimated crowd size approaching 5,000. That was back in June.

Fast forward to Tuesday and you have Trump filling out the stadium in Orlando with some 20,000 attendees.

Even back in April, the rally comparisons were pretty different, with Trump packing stadiums and Biden gathering people into a room.

Unless Trump does something that severely upsets the populace — and I’m not exactly sure what that would have to be at this point — I imagine this packed rally trend will continue.

I only bring this up because I’m getting some serious 2016 vibes.

During the last presidential election, I watched as poll after poll told me that Clinton was a shoo-in for President. Yet Clinton could hardly pack a room full of people. In one very telling story, Clinton’s staff had made room for an entire warehouse to be filled for a speech. The problem was that so few people turned out that they had to literally place walls near the back of the crowd and shut off the lights to the rest of the building to make it look as if Clinton’s meager crowd was larger than it actually was.

While there have been no stories about Biden having to play with optics in that large of a way yet, I wouldn’t be surprised to see and hear stories come out as the campaign kicks into high gear. All Trump has to do is announce he’s showing up somewhere and thousands will show up there too. It becomes a major event.

I’m not getting that same vibe from Biden rallies.

Just like 2016, I’m seeing polls that favor Democrats but seeing crowds that favor Trump. I can only confirm with my own eyes and ears that at least one of them is more truthful and telling.

President Donald J. Trump discusses current military operations with Marine Gen. Joseph F. Dunford Jr., chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Army Gen. Joseph Votel, commander of U.S. Central Command (U.S. Central Command photo by Marine Corps Sgt. Alan Belser)

Is Information Deliberately Being Withheld From President Trump?

This past weekend, the New York Times put out a piece about U.S escalation in the cyber ware with Russia. The Times not only relied on leaks of what has to be highly classified information, but appeared to also take a shot at President Trump, claiming that long time professionals in the military were reluctant to keep the President informed about matters he has every right and need to know. You can read the whole thing here.

My colleague Elizabeth Vaughn wrote an excellent piece regarding the Times poor excuse for journalism, calling out the leaks of classified information, but more importantly, anonymous claims that critical information was being withheld from President Trump. In her words

Even though USCC acted legally and the move certainly boosts U.S. national security, if the article is correct, it’s disturbing that Trump was not briefed.

The most important reason, and also the most obvious, is that he is the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces of the United States.  He is responsible for making all of the decisions in the event of a nuclear escalation and he must be kept aware of exactly what our capabilities are.

Secondly, if it is known that a President’s underlings feel free to make consequential decisions without consulting him, he appears weak. And as much as that fills liberal hearts with glee, it hurts America.

I agree with my colleague, especially the part about the New York Times spinning this story. However, there is likely another reason that President Trump wasn’t briefed on each operation. He didn’t want to be. The New York Times writers and for sure most leftists would be unfamiliar with—how Senior Commanders and successful CEO’s operate. Such people surround themselves with competent people and give them guidance and boundaries to work within.

Such leaders don’t require subordinates to come running to them for permission to handle routine tasks already delineated in their mission orders. In fact, if a subordinate needs too much additional guidance, he is replaced fairly quickly. Once an operation is put in place, the only reason to directly inform the President, would be if some contemplated action was outside the scope already authorized or a particular action had generated a result (good or bad) that might require Presidential intervention, decision and/or rethinking the entire project.

I can’t speak for the Senior Executive Service (SES) civilians in the Pentagon. However, the folks in uniform tend to believe the old adage, “Bad news doesn’t get better with age.” I find it highly unlikely that the Green Suiters are deliberately hiding operations from the President. I find it far more credible that President Trump’s CEO management style fits right in with the way a Military General Staff and subordinate commands work.

The New York Times likely cannot understand this. Like most on the left (and more than a few on the right) they look at everything through a political lens. Before a decision is made, it must be polled and focus grouped. Often, even very minor decisions are withheld to the highest level.

On the other hand, CEO’s and Military Officers don’t have time for that. These high-functioning leaders recruit and train capable subordinates, give them mission-type orders and then get the hell out of the way. My take is that the New York Times can’t recognize a well organized operation, because it has likely never experienced one and so, is spinning by means of unsubstantiated rumor and innuendo.

Pelosi Won’t Pull the Trigger on Impeaching Trump, But She’s Happy to Fundraise on Removing Him

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) incurred the wrath of liberal Twitter today with a tweet from her campaign account soliciting donations for her 2020 re-election, shedding some light on a growing division among Democrats on how best to oppose President Donald Trump. The tweet said it was “sad” that Trump “doesn’t know right from wrong,” and then, “It’s time for Trump to go.”

Along with the tweet was a link to Pelosi’s fundraising page on the ActBlue platform, along with a graphic asking “WANT TO REPLACE TRUMP IN 2020?”

Visitors to Pelosi’s ActBlue page saw the following message, along with a contribution form and the standard required campaign finance disclaimers:

Replace Trump in 2020

Trump is indifferent to any sense of ethics and to the very core of who we are as a country. It’s time for him to go.

Chip in now to help replace Trump and expand the Democratic House Majority.

Pelosi, who has led her caucus for years through Democratic majorities and minorities, and under presidents of both parties, has often been viewed as a savvy political strategist. This fundraising tweet, however, met with a loud and swift backlash as a message that missed its mark.

As Speaker of the House, she has broad powers to call for Congressional hearings and investigations, both directly and through the various Democrat-controlled House committees, the chairs of which were all appointed by her. But as month after month of Trump’s presidency has gone by, Pelosi has made headlines for her steadfast refusal to initiate impeachment hearings, despite the exhortations of many Democratic presidential candidates, members of Congress, and other liberal activists.

Several political commentators from both sides of the aisle have observed that Pelosi could very well call for aggressive investigations into various Trump campaign and administration matters, but not call them “impeachment” hearings at the outset, as a sort of “impeachment lite” strategy. Thus far, she has declined to pursue even that route.

Pelosi is undoubtedly aware of the risk unsuccessful impeachment proceedings pose for the party opposing the president, and with the Senate still under Republican control and no realistic chance of enough GOP defectors to remove Trump from office, any steps in this direction are likely to galvanize Trump’s base as the 2020 elections approach.

Still, political reality is little consolation for a Democratic base that demands increasingly extremist action. The clown car of Democratic presidential candidates have spent more time cheering on radical ideas like slavery reparations, abolishing the entire Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agency, or packing the Supreme Court, than they have proposing tax reforms or other basic policies that realistically stand a chance of becoming law.

So we have the left demanding impeachment like Veruca Salt stomping her feet and demanding one of Willy Wonka’s squirrels. Never mind that the backlash to a failed impeachment attempt threatens to drag down Democratic candidates like those squirrels dispatched a certain spoiled little girl.

At the time this article was written, the @TeamPelosi tweet had nearly two thousand replies. Scrolling through them shows the overwhelming majority asking her to consider impeachment hearings, or just flat out demanding that she start them.

One of the top-liked responses was posted by Mckayla Wilkes, a Maryland congressional candidate whose bio states that she is a “Progressive primary challenger of Steny Hoyer to represent MD-05.” Wilkes slammed Pelosi’s donation request as “making no sense,” considering Pelosi’s refusal to bring impeachment hearings.

Like all House members, Pelosi has to have her name on the ballot every two years, and will need to fundraise to support her 2020 re-election efforts. But unless and until she’s willing to give Democrats their impeachment squirrel, she might be better advised to avoid this type of messaging.

Joe Biden Suggests a “Physical Revolution” to Deal With Senate Republicans

Joe Biden is a gaffe factory. He churns them out on an assembly line where they slip right past quality control and hit the market where they are eagerly gobbled up by people like me. Personally, I consider his gaffes one of his most entertaining qualities.

On Monday, Biden decided to model a gaffe of his after Maxine Waters by suggesting people get physical if they don’t like the way Republicans are doing things.

While at the Moral Action Congress of the Poor People’s Campaign in Washington, D.C., Biden was being asked by MSNBC’s Joy Reid how Biden would get past a majority Republican Senate set to kill anything Biden wants.

“How would you get past either a majority Republican Senate in which Mitch McConnell was determined to kill all of these ideas or even a Mitch McConnell in the minority who repeated the consistent filibustering when you were vice president and anything that came from the Obama-Biden administration Mitch McConnell considered dead on arrival?” asked Reid.

At first, Biden’s response was pretty reasonable.

“Joy, I know you’re one of the ones who thinks it’s naive to think we have to work together,” Biden said while looking Ried directly in the eye. “The fact of the matter is if we can’t get a consensus, nothing happens except the abuse of power by the executive.”

Biden noted that the second option was a “brass knuckle fight.”

“If you start off with the notion that there’s nothing you can do, then why don’t you go home then, man?” said Biden. “Or let’s start a real physical revolution if you’re talking about it. Because we have to be able to change what we’re doing in our system.”

I’m under the impression that Biden was trying to emphasize bipartisan cooperation from Democrats and essentially telling them that if they aren’t willing to do that then stop complaining and do something about it, thinking they probably wouldn’t take it that far.

The problem is that I’m not sure if Biden knows his own party if that’s the case. He’s from an age where bipartisanship was a bit easier to come by and the internet wasn’t around making it easier to organize mobs. He may not realize that the left takes it that far all the time in the form of Antifa riots, physical confrontations at restaurants, and campus violence.

Regardless, that Biden would even suggest a physical revolution in a physical way in a universe without a violent left is irresponsible.

I’d like to give gaffe-master B the benefit of the doubt and say he’s calling out Democrats for being expert complainers who do nothing about it, and that they have no choice but to try to work together with Republicans for the benefit of our nation, but I can’t say for sure. He’s not making that an easy argument to stand by, and in this day and age where Antifa may just show up at your door, no matter how you slice it, Biden’s words come off as threatening.

Here’s What Joe Biden Promises Will Be the First Act of His Presidency

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden speaks on ABC’s The View – 4/26/19.

Joe Biden is currently sitting fairly high in the Democrat primary. The next two months will be key. If he takes a lead into August, he’s going to be really difficult to overtake.

While trying to keep his position, Biden has begun to make promises to his left-wing base that may not be so useful when a general election starts. Saying he no longer supports the Hyde Amendment, for example, is a position in stark contrast to most of the rest of the country. Radicalism on abortion has become a litmus test for Democrats though and the former Vice President is playing along.

Now, Biden has made another promise that may make Democrat voters squee but might not bring much enthusiasm from the broader voter base.

Credit to Ryan and The Daily Wire for this clip because you won’t see this reported at any of the “mainstream” outlets. You’d think a Presidential candidate promising to raise taxes on the vast majority of the middle class might be news, but nah, we’ve got Trump not liking coughing to cover.

Here’s the full quote via The Daily Caller.

“Number one, we have the greatest income inequity in the history of the United States of America since 1902, and the fact of the matter is, there is plenty, plenty of money to go around,” Biden replied. “The first thing I would do as president is eliminate the president’s tax cut.”

I’m sure when pressed, Biden will now try to massage this statement and say he only meant the “tax cuts for the rich” or some nonsense. The truth is, a lot of the “rich” are paying more under the Trump tax reform, namely because of the changes to SALT deductions. Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro has shared his experience multiple times and said that while he supports the tax cuts, he is personally paying more now.

Because the tax reform bill doubled the standard deduction, along with other tweaks, about 65% of the country got a cut, with only 6% paying more. The ones most likely to have no gotten nothing out of it are those who weren’t paying income taxes anyway because they don’t make enough (i.e. those making under $25,000 mostly saw no change). You can’t cut taxes for the poor when they were already zeroing out on their returns anyway. That fact should be common sense but Democrats have purposely weaponized it to claim that the tax cuts were only “for the rich.”

Biden has lied about this before. Just last week he made this wild claim about Trump’s tax reform, asking the Teamsters union these questions.

Did you feel it? Did you get anything from it? Of course not, all of it went to folks at the top.

In typical partisan group think, the crowd (including those you can see behind him) all said no and shook their heads. It’s just mind-blowing to see given that almost everyone in that building was middle class and they factually got a tax cut. But hate for the other side of the aisle can make people do weird things, including begging for the government to tax them more without even realizing it.

It’s ironic that Biden is seen in the original video promising to raise taxes to an audience supposedly focused on helping the poor. Hitting the middle class and yes, even the rich with tax increases will only hurt the lowest income levels in this country. It will cost jobs and harm consumer spending, which means less opportunity is made for those seeking to make it out of poverty.

The Democrat rhetoric on taxes focuses on “fairness” even when that fairness would objectively hurt those they are seeking to help. No one gets richer because their neighbors taxes get raised. It’s illogical and ignores the realities of the economy. Biden doesn’t care though. He’s got a primary to win and he’s going to say whatever he feels like the rabid, socialist base of his party wants to hear.

In the end though, even if Biden were to be elected President, he’d never be able to garner support to repeal the tax cuts. Much like Obamacare, the moment people realize they are about to be affected, they’ll change their minds on the issue very quickly.
