MoveOn Chief Public Affairs Officer Karine Jean-Pierre confronts an aggressive protester. 6/1/19. Screen grab via CBS News.

On Saturday, MoveOn.org hosted what they called a “Big Ideas Forum” in San Francisco, where several of the Democratic candidates for president appeared to answer questions and stump for votes.

Sen. Kamala Harris’s segment was briefly interrupted by an animal rights protester who rushed the stage and physically confronted Harris:

In footage of the incident at the Big Ideas Forum hosted by MoveOn, the male protester can be seen entering the stage just as Harris took a question about the gender pay gap in the United States before being stopped by Karine Jean-Pierre, MoveOn’s chief public affairs officer.

The protester, named Aidan Cook, said he wanted ask for Harris’s attention on “a much bigger idea” before he was removed from the stage by security. Harris continued speaking after his removal.

Direct Action Everywhere, an animal rights organization based in California, said in a statement that the man was an activist who wanted to call on Harris “to support ordinary citizens rescuing animals rather than the factory farms that abuse animals.”

Watch as Jean-Pierre literally does not waste a moment of time before getting up and stepping between Cook and Harris in an attempt to grab the mic back:

Here’s a photo of Aidan Cook:

While some journalists and liberals – including Harris’s spokesman – absurdly boiled down Cook’s actions to “mansplaining” to a woman of color, this was a serious matter and it could have happened to any of the Democratic candidates, no matter their gender or color. And the outcome could have been a lot worse.

It should not have happened.

Harris, to her credit, calmly walked away from the protester as she’s probably been instructed to do in the past by her security staff. In spite of my issues with Harris (and there are MANY), I doubt very seriously if Cook scared her. She’s a former federal prosecutor who no doubt faced a number of threats in that role, and as she’s said in the past, she owns a gun for her personal safety. She’s probably taken self-defense classes, too.

In any event, thankfully no one was hurt but MoveOn should face some major heat from her campaign over what took place. It took too long for security to intervene. Just like the milkshake incident involving Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL-1) over the weekend, these incidents have no place in a civilized society.

Also, they aren’t just dangerous for political candidates – they’re dangerous for protesters, too. The Secret Service would not have been so forgiving with Cook.

In any event, hats off to Jean-Pierre for her quick actions. Some have suggested she put herself in danger in doing what she did, but it was clear from the video that Jean-Pierre knew how to handle herself – and the situation.

#Journalism: Taking a Ghoulish Page out of the Pro-Abortion Handbook, the NYT Has a New Term for “Fetal Heartbeat”

A few weeks ago, Hollywood’s pro-abortion mouthpiece Alyssa Milano decried the use of the term “fetal heartbeat” to describe an unborn baby’s heartbeat in the first few weeks after conception.

The actress, upset over irrefutable biological facts about when fetal heartbeats begin, took to the Twitter machine in an attempt to correct the media, Republicans and pro-lifers on the matter:

Just a couple of weeks later, CNN “New Day” co-host Alisyn Camerota went from neutral anchor to pro-abortion activist in a flash with her line of questioning of Indiana AG Curtis Hill (R). The subject was the recent Supreme Court decision to sidestep the most controversial aspects of a 2016 pro-life bill Mike Pence signed into law when he was governor.

After aggressively grilling Hill with questions like “Why would you want a family to have to have a child with a severe disability?”, Camerota backtracked on the use of the term “children” to describe unborn babies:

While [Camerota] already had acknowledged at several points that the end result of a pregnancy is, indeed, a child, she catches herself referring to it as such in the womb.

“Yeah but lots of families make that decision based on — Hold on a second. Lots of families do have to make that decision based on the single characteristic of finding out their children, that their fetus, has a severe abnormality,” she said.

In the latest twist involving the mainstream media switching up the terminology they use to describe unborn children and their development in the womb, the New York Times wrote last week about Louisiana’s fetal heartbeat bill, which was signed into law Thursday by pro-life Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards.

Except they have a new term they’re using for “fetal heartbeat”, as Life News writes:

On Wednesday, the newspaper described the Louisiana heartbeat law with bizarre new language that dehumanizes unborn babies and ignores decades of scientific evidence.

Rather than say the word “heartbeat,” the New York Times used the words “the pulsing of what becomes the fetus’s heart.” It also described the legislation as a “so-called fetal heartbeat bill” – as if it is questionable whether the unborn baby actually has a heart or a heartbeat.

The anti-scientific language did not end there. In its description of the Louisiana law, the New York Times wrote:

“The measure would require an ultrasound test for any woman seeking to terminate a pregnancy, and forbid abortion if the test detects embryonic pulsing – which can occur before many women know they are pregnant.”

This new terminology is not based on facts or scientific evidence. It’s based on an agenda that supports abortion on demand. “Embryonic pulsing,” for example, is such a vague description that it is hard to understand precisely what it means. And it appears to have been used that way on purpose.

You better believe it was on purpose:

Why is this change in terminology so notable and important? Allie Beth Stuckey gets to the heart of the matter (no pun intended):

Indeed. The pro-abortion left, including their mainstream media allies, realizes that the most surefire way to keeping people believing in the “right to choose” is by dehumanizing unborn life by way of using vague or clinical terms. Like in their use of “fetus” instead of “child” or “baby.” Like in the way they’ve (falsely) asserted that there is no such thing as a “late term” or “partial birth” abortion.

Democrats and their feminist supporters have been very effective over the years at shifting the debate over abortion from being about the unborn baby and instead to being about the “woman’s right to choose.” They’ve been successful in this endeavor because liberal mainstream media news outlets like the New York Times and CNN willingly and eagerly go along with them.

Color Us Confused: Budweiser Proposes Additions to Gay Pride Flags and Crayola May Get Jealous

Westlake Legal Group Bud-Flag Color Us Confused: Budweiser Proposes Additions to Gay Pride Flags and Crayola May Get Jealous virtue signaling transgender pride month Popular Culture political correctness LGBTQ Gender Issues gay rights Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story Featured Post Corporate signaling corporate activism Capitalism Business & Economy Budweiser beer Allow Media Exception

In an attempt at corporate signaling Budweiser really should just wave the white flag.

In the latest bout of corporate virtue signaling Budweiser UK has come out with ads showing its support for Pride Month. While the effort itself is not, a surprise, as numerous companies are showing their support in June, the manner in which the beer maker goes about it is…curious.

It almost seems that Bud attempted to make the proper stance with the Pride demographic, but then it ran into a familiar challenge within that community: the Inclusion Paradox. There are tripwires when signaling properly here, because you may actually end up offending sub groups by not acknowledging them in a fashion they deem appropriate.

Just look at what happened as the brewer attempted to go above and beyond in recognizing those prideful sectors.

As one who is unclear on all of the machinations behind these movements, I believe this to be a nod to the intersectionalists in the pride community? But then Budweiser found itself in a quandary; what if they did not go far enough in recognizing the vital groups in the movement? After all, it seems like every week they add another sector to the LGBTQIA-califragilistic-expialidocious community.

Just as you can imagine the young marketing executive looking smug after drawing up that newly inclusive flag panic may have set in. What if they had forgotten to include another facet?! Then the beer producer could appear insensitive! Quick, fire off another addition to the flag!

There, that should cover things nicely! But wait, there are numerous other genders out there to consider! What if we forget to note those who identify otherly?! Back to the graphics design board…

As Budweiser fell into the vortex of signaling-propriety you have suddenly gotten to a point where this flag will either have stripes that are a millimeter wide, or the flag itself will need to be six feet in length.

And then it just continued, as the brewer’s marketing team clearly was foundering, their attempt to look propper now spiraling out of control.

and…

By now there are blatant problems. We have used black for three different identifiers, and we are up to at least four shades of blue. By now the Pride Flag is beginning to resemble the paint chip display board at the Home Depot.

But we are not yet finished.

And then we get so far down this rabbit hole that we have to dispense with stripes entirely. The groups have become so fractured as to require colored shapes.

By this point I just want to fly the amber-colored flag — to signify my choice…of bourbon.

I have no idea what Budweiser is even acknowledging anymore, but I hope they are proud of their attempt at pandering.

Someone get the crying towel out for Jim Acosta and Don Lemon.

Just a couple days ago before President Trump’s visit to Great Britain and London in particular, comes the word that “The Worldwide Leader in News” is shrinking its reach in England’s capital city.

You don’t say!!!

According to  The Guardian

CNN is preparing to make substantial cuts to its London-based television news operation in a move that is likely to result in at least a dozen employees losing their jobs.

The announcement was made by Jeff Zucker, the CNN boss, at a “town hall” meeting on Tuesday in the company’s office in central London.

Staff, including some managers whose shows were affected, were given no advance warning of the announcement, according to some of those present. Zucker told them that the international channel was losing $10m (£8m) a year, according to those present.

The cuts come shortly after the longstanding CNN International boss Tony Maddox unexpectedly announced he was leaving the station earlier this month.

People losing their jobs is never a good thing but if you watch CNN you know why these and other cuts are happening. The ratings continue to shrink because they are pretending to be a news organization while being advocates for certain points of views. No one can honestly watch Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon and say they are news guys. They are really bad at trying to frame stories from a certain point of view. The people who are on other networks like Fox and MSNBC at these same times freely admit they are partisans.

Thus, therein lies the rub.

CNN gave up the objectivity ghost long ago under the leadership of Jeff Zucker and no amount of railing against that point will make it any less true. Saying you are just a “news” organization but you have the programming of the editorial staff of the New York Times damn near 24/7 undercuts that talking point.

CNN should send Jake Tapper out and just admit that most of the hosts on the network don’t like Trump, conservatives in general or pro-life people and freely admit it. That would be intellectually honest instead of this hodgepodge mess they have right now. Side note to Tapper, please STOP defending your colleagues just because they are your colleagues. Just because you work at the same place does not by some magical virtue dust make them right.

AT&T recently bought out Time Warner, which owns CNN, and speculation is they are the ones pushing for these and more cuts from the flailing network. If that is true we may see even more cuts for CNN and some personnel changes coming in the very near future.

Which means Jim and Don will have to share those cry towels.

As Red State‘s Elizabeth Vaughn wrote this morning, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY-14) was dismissive of former Rep. John Delaney’s (D-MD-6) anti-Medicare for All stance over the weekend. In a tweet, she told Delaney to “sashay away” since he was booed “for a full minute” at California’s Democratic convention:

First, his comments:

In response to the boos, he defended himself on Twitter later:

That wasn’t good enough for AOC:

The Delaney campaign fired back at the freshman Congresswoman in a statement and series of tweets Sunday and Monday, reports The Hill:

Delaney’s press secretary, Michael Starr Hopkins, released a statement on Monday saying that Ocasio-Cortez’s comments only help President Trump move toward reelection in 2020.

“The only person Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez helped with her tweet about Congressman Delaney was Donald Trump,” Hopkins’s statement reads. “If Democrats are serious about beating the President at the ballot box, we need less political grandstanding and more truth-telling from the Bernie wing of the party.

“2016 should have taught us that if we allow this primary to become a popularity contest on Twitter rather than a debate of ideas in the public square, the country will lose. We’ve seen this playbook before and it ends with a second term for Donald Trump.”

When it comes right down to it, a debate over universal healthcare vs. Medicare for All would really just amount to liberals trying to “out-liberal” each other. But the sound-bites from it could potentially be beneficial for Republicans on down the road.

On a related note, if showing sustained disapproval for comments made during a formal setting is grounds for disqualifying candidates for higher office – as AOC suggests, here’s a suggestion for what should happen with her seat this election cycle:

Make it happen, Democrats. Make it happen.

Man Doxxed by Daily Beast Replies – on Facebook (the Company Complicit in the Doxxing)

As Elizabeth covered previously, an ex-con-turned-Daily-Beast-Reporter published an extremely detailed expose on the man who (supposedly) first published the “doctored” video of Nancy Pelosi over the weekend, expressing shock that the man was an African-American man from New York City and not some Russian plant.

Shortly after the Daily Beast piece was published Shawn Brooks, the man who was doxxed posted a public reply on his personal Facebook account.

Westlake Legal Group Shawn-Brooks-Facebook Man Doxxed by Daily Beast Replies – on Facebook (the Company Complicit in the Doxxing) Shawn Brooks Nancy Pelosi Kevin Poulsen Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story Featured Post facebook Doctored Video Daily Beast Allow Media Exception

Credit: Facebook/Shawn Brooks

He wrote (spelling and punctuation unchanged, emphasis added):

So as many will see that an article of me has been posted online by a left leaning site called the daily beast. I’m being accused of creating the Pelosi video that went viral. I am one of the admins of the page but i DID NOT CREATE THE VIDEO NOR DID I POST IT to the Politics WATCHDOG page. They need a fall guy and they choose me because of my background. Yes i made some mistakes in my life but the details in that article about my past does not explain the full picture and it can appear to look like i’m just some bad guy. Anyone who has had any interactions with me either online or in person must understand that i am not the person they are painting me out to be in this article. Facebook was taking heat for not taking down the video so they made me the scapegoat of this pelosi video which was the final piece for The daily beast to throw me under the bus with their article. P.S Details in that article are not 100% accurate

Considering that Kevin Poulsen, the Daily Beast “reporter,” generously cited an unnamed Facebook official as authority for his contentions, Brooks’ assertion holds water.

This clip from “The View” shows both videos, and includes Whoopi Goldberg giving Facebook some heat for not taking down the video.

Poulsen’s article depicts a back-and-forth between himself and an unnamed Facebook official. Apparently Poulsen first spoke to a contact at Facebook, then spoke to Brooks, then took Brooks’ answers back to Facebook, giving Facebook the opportunity to rebut Brooks.

Brooks first shared an “unaltered” video on his personal Facebook page, and claims that the “edited” video was not posted by him. Poulsen took that back to the Daily Beast.

“Thirteen minutes later, a Facebook official told The Daily Beast, Brooks posted a very different Pelosi video to a Facebook page called Politics WatchDog…this clip had been altered to slow Pelosi down without lowering the pitch of her voice…to make it sound as though the Speaker of the House was slurring her words drunkenly while criticizing Donald Trump.

“It’s conceivable that someone else actually edited the clip. But a Facebook official, confirming a Daily Beast investigation, said the video was first posted on Politics WatchDog directly from Brooks’ personal Facebook account.”

Brooks told Poulsen the video was posted on Politics WatchDog by another page admin, not by him, and refused to name the other admin (understandably). Who knows whether that’s true or not, but the Facebook Official had an answer for that, too.

“And a Facebook official told The Daily Beast that they simply don’t exist. According to the official, there were indeed six other accounts registered alongside Brooks as page administrators, but the company determined last week that all six of them were controlled by Brooks. Facebook deleted those accounts under its real-name policy, the Facebook official said.”

After the publication of the Daily Beast piece, Brooks posted what he says is a screenshot showing the “current admins” of Politics Watchdog on his business page.

Taylor Swift Criticizes Trump, Lobbies Senate to Support LGBTQ Equality Act

For years, pop star Taylor Swift made headlines for the most unique of political stances: refusing to take one. In a crowd of actors and musicians who have protested wars and engaged in stream-of-consciousness rants on their social media accounts, Swift’s silence earned cheers from many who don’t always want a lecture with their entertainment selections, and sneers from the “woke” crowd who expect (with good reason) most celebrities to lean left, and to help carry the torch of their various causes. Swift shared photos from the voting line at her precinct during the 2016 elections, encouraging her supporters to go vote, but was enigmatic about for whom she was casting her ballot.

Lately, however, she has started speaking out occasionally on political issues, first breaking her political neutrality to endorse Democrat Paul Bresden, who was challenging Republican Marsha Blackburn for Tennessee’s Senate seat. Her latest round of activism targets President Donald Trump and Sen. Lamar Alexander, who represents her state of Tennessee, for their opposition to the Equality Act, an LGBTQ anti-discrimination bill that passed the Democrat-controlled House recently.

The bill faces an uphill battle in the Republican-controlled Senate, over concerns that the anti-discrimination provisions do not provide adequate consideration of religious liberties, and parental rights.

Swift takes issue with these objections, and posted an open letter to Alexander that she posted on Twitter yesterday, along with a Change.org petition in support of the Equality Act.

Swift’s letter asks Alexander to consider giving his support to the Equality Act, and mentions several dozen companies that have sent open letters to Tennessee lawmakers regarding this same issue. Near the end of the letter, Swift publicly criticizes Trump for the first time:

I personally reject the President’s stance that his administration “supports equal treatment of all,” but that the Equality Act, “in its current form is filled with poison pills that threaten to determine parental and conscience rights.” No, one cannot take the position that one supports a community, while condemning it in the next breath as going against “conscience” or “parental rights.” That statement implies that there is something morally wrong with you being anything other than heterosexual or cisgender, which is an incredibly harmful letter to send to a nation full of healthy and loving families with same-sex, non-binary or transgender parents, sons or daughters.

Swift cites a recent study that she does not identify as showing that over 64% of Tennesseans support laws protecting LGBTQ people from discrimination, and that nationally, this support crosses party lines, with 81% of liberals, 78% of moderates, and 55% of conservatives in favor.

“To vote against this bill would be to vote against the wishes of most Tennesseans and Americans,” wrote Swift.

Swift changed her Twitter bio to say “Support the Equality Act” and a link to her Change.org petition, which as of Sunday morning had over 80,000 signatures. She is also encouraging her 83 million Twitter followers to write and post their own letters to their Senators, using her hashtag #lettertomysenator.

Children, Behave: Liberal Protestor ‘Milkshakes’ Florida Congressman Outside Town Hall Meeting

Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) had spent his afternoon doing what we want Members of Congress to be doing — holding a town hall meeting with his constituents — when he was assaulted by a liberal protestor who was caught on video dumping a drink on him. Media Matters campaign director Jordan Uhl gleefully tweeted the video, commenting, “Matt Gaetz got milkshaked in Pensacola.”

The video, posted by WKRG, Pensacola’s CBS affiliate, shows Gaetz leaving the town hall meeting in Pensacola, one of several he scheduled around his congressional district this weekend. Protestors can be heard yelling various chants, taunting Gaetz as he walks out, when a drink is lobbed at him, appearing to strike him in the back and shoulder.

WKRG reported that police “quickly detained and arrested” Amanda Leigh Kondrat’yev for the alleged assault. Kondrat’yev said she was there to protest the town hall.

According to WEAR, the local ABC affiliate, Kondrat’yev was one of the candidates who unsuccessfully ran against Gaetz in 2016 for the congressional seat. She has been charged with battery.

Gaetz has often attracted a higher degree of media attention than one might otherwise expect for a freshman Congressman, partly due to his enthusiastic and vocal support for President Donald Trump, and partly due to his penchant for controversial comments and social media posts.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) takes a selfie with President Donald Trump. Photo via Representative Matt Gaetz on Facebook.

In other words, while Gaetz has his ardent supporters, he also attracts a large number of critics.

Fine. Hooray for the First Amendment. That’s part of what being an elected official entails. Kondrat’yev and her fellow protestors had every right to protest outside Gaetz’s town hall and speak their mind.

But when Kondrat’yev decided to physically attack Gaetz, she wasn’t exercising her free speech rights. She was committing a crime. [Allegedly, allegedly, allegedly, etc. — this incident was caught on video and Kondrat’yev was identified and arrested immediately at the scene. She is, of course, presumed innocent in our criminal justice system.]

I’ve certainly had my criticisms of Gaetz over the years, and I’ve made no secret of my skepticism of Trump. But how pathetic and childish are these protestors when they can’t figure out how to express themselves in words and resort to throwing drinks and food like toddlers?

Uhl, the Media Matters campaign director, and the other liberals who cheered Kondrat’yev’s [alleged] attack, drawing the parallel to the milkshakes thrown on pro-Brexit politicians in the UK, are perhaps even worse. They are openly cheering for physical assaults on other people, just because they don’t agree with them on a political issue.

The Pensacola Congressman seemed unharmed, fortunately, other than some minor laundry issues for his shirt, but this idea that “milkshaking” is a harmless prank and an acceptable form of protest is absolutely wrong. Any time someone throws a physical object at someone, especially where a lot of people are gathered closely together, there’s a potential for injury or sparking an incitement in the crowd. There’s a long standing tradition for treating all unwanted physical contact as criminal behavior, for good reason.

James Gagliano, a CNN law enforcement analyst, tweeted that he was “no Matt Gaetz fan” but condemned the “utterly shameful and disgusting” assault and those who were celebrating it, expressing his worries that this was an escalation that could lead to violence.

As Kondrat’yev contemplates spending thousands of dollars on legal fees and court costs, plus whatever sentence the criminal justice system may impose, she should ask herself what she actually achieved today.

Matt Gaetz is not going to stop supporting Trump, resign from office, change his vote on any bill, or switch his position on any issue whatsoever. Her little stunt accomplished absolutely nothing, except to create potential challenges for her own future. “Assaulted a Congressman” isn’t the kind of resume line most employers crave.

Gaetz seemed in good spirits about the whole kerfuffle, tweeting his thanks to local law enforcement who “keep everyone safe at our events,” and quipping that “[c]learly it takes more than a drink to slow down our great team.”

UPDATE: The Pensacola News Journal confirmed that Kondrat’yev was one of Gaetz’s congressional opponents in the 2016 race, and further reports that she has been released from jail on a $1,000 bond. Kondrat’yev is also one of four plaintiffs suing the city of Pensacola to force the removal of a cross from Bayview Park.

Legacy Time: Hillary Clinton Selfishly Uses College Commencement Speech to Talk Mueller and Bash Trump, Facebook

Hillary Clinton speaks at the Hunter College graduation ceremony in NYC. 5/29/19. Screen grab via NBC News.

Students ready to put years of hard work behind them, celebrate their graduation, and get started on their respective career paths were treated to a blatantly political and self-centered commencement speech given by twice failed candidate for president Hillary Clinton on Wednesday.

The Associated Press reports:

Clinton’s bluntly political speech to members of the class of 2019 at Hunter College was delivered at Madison Square Garden hours after Mueller made his first public comments about his probe into election meddling.

Referencing Mueller’s remarks, Clinton said the allegation that Russians had attempted to sway U.S. voters “deserves the attention of every American,” and she condemned Trump for largely dismissing Mueller’s work as a witch hunt.

“What we’ve seen from the administration is a complete refusal to condemn a foreign power who attacked our democracy,” she said. “We’ve got to deal with what has been investigated and reported.”

[…]

“What do we do when people in positions of authority are not held accountable? When they defy requests from Congress? When they spread misinformation online?” the Democrat said, suggesting it was up to the graduates to find solutions to such problems.

Clinton also took a jab at Facebook:

“When Facebook refused to take down a fake video of Nancy Pelosi, it wasn’t even a close call,” Clinton told the graduates. “The video is sexist trash. And YouTube took it down but Facebook kept it up.”

The former presidential candidate then suggested that a message be sent to Facebook to show opposition to the tech giant’s decision, and she warned that the site would be “flooded” with “false and doctored videos” if nothing happens.

Her full speech can be viewed below:

Twitter users called Clinton out for using the speech to air her personal and political grievances instead of making it about the students:

Some Twitter users pointed out something I noticed, too: Some of the graduates sitting behind Clinton looked visibly bored and agitated:

As I’ve written before when she’s made similar remarks, it’s just really rich to see her of all people complaining about people in positions of authority not being held accountable, especially when you consider how Clinton herself managed to avoid indictment in 2016 in spite of all the evidence against her as it related to her email server scandal.

Clinton’s rationale for continuing to bang the Mueller drum is not just political, it’s personal – very personal. Her loss to Trump in 2016 had to be devastating to her. Very embarrassing, too, considering she was a “sure thing” if you listened to so-called political experts and polling gurus.

Some have called the investigation into Russian interference a “coup attempt” against Trump, but for Hillary, the investigation has been a way for her to soothe her bruised ego over the fact she was defeated. She’s convinced herself that without the interference she would have won the election.

The students at Hunter College deserved a speech that was centered around them, their accomplishments, and their futures, not a political bashfest with insinuations about what could have been for her in 2016. Clinton’s defenders will call this her greatest speech ever, but in reality this was not a good look for her. Not good a good look at all.
