Actor Tom Arnold is like the male version of Bette Midler (that’s not a compliment, Tom, in case you’re reading this). When he opens his mouth – or logs on to his Twitter account, what comes out of it often sounds like it came straight out of the deepist, nastiest pits of the Democratic fever swamps.

He’s accused President Trump of murder. He’s threatened to beat up Trump. He’s also told Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX), a war hero who lost his eye serving his country in combat, to man up.

What’s he up to this week? Trying to demean White House Sec. Stephanie Grisham and former White House Sec. Sarah Sanders.

This is the tweet from Grisham that Arnold took issue with:

Arnold, who apparently lurks on Twitter just to troll Trump administration officials, weighed in with the usual class you can expect from a guy like him:

Arnold responded to some of the Twitter users who took exception to what he said:

I’m not typically one to join in on disparaging someone’s looks, but Arnold really asked for it here. Sanders is a lovely, classy woman while Tom comes across as starved for attention and desperate.

Not to mention recent photos of him show he really has no room whatsoever to talk about someone else’s weight.

Like this one with another unhinged leftist:

And this one:

And this one:

I wonder if Tom knows what they say about people in glass houses?

Heartbreak: Bill de Blasio Fails to Qualify for Third Democratic Debate, But Struggling Campaign Presses On

It would appear that Democratic voters are not in a New York state of mind.

The day after Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (NY) officially dropped out of the presidential race, the participants in the third Democratic presidential debate were announced. One name that was not on the list, rather unsurprisingly, was NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio.

The NY Daily News reports reports:

It’s official: Mayor de Blasio won’t be on stage next month with the rest of the Democratic candidates hoping to become their party’s presidential nominee.

De Blasio, whose long-shot presidential bid has been marred by low poll numbers and slumping fundraising, did not make the cut, party leadership announced Thursday.

Hizzoner didn’t manage to meet the qualification requirement of garnering at least 2% support in four or more polls approved by the Democratic National Committee. He also failed to fulfill the second requirement of receiving at least 130,000 unique donations.

Here are the candidates who did qualify, according to the DNC’s criteria:

The Mayor has faced intense criticism from constituents back home who say he should be focusing more on the problems facing New York City than running for higher office. Some have even taken to distributing “missing person” posters with de Blasio’s name and face on them:

Campaign literature began to pop up on lampposts in Midtown Friday, with a tongue-in-cheek message declaring de Blasio “MISSING,” amid his longshot quest for the Oval Office.

“Last seen embarrassing himself in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina,” read the black-and-white posters. “If seen please tell him to immediately return to New York and do the job he was elected to do.”

The poster — printed with a photo of Hizzoner and his age, height and weight — asks anyone with “information about this man’s whereabouts” to contact “deblasioforresident@gmail.com.”

Here’s what they look like:

Ouch.

According to multiple media reports, though, de Blasio was in Nevada campaigning today and doesn’t appear to have any plans to drop out:

When contacted Thursday, de Blasio’s campaign remained focused on the campaign ahead of them.

“The Mayor very much looks forward to his return engagement on ‘Pod Save America,’” they said in a statement.

“He also looks forward to the Nevada State AFL-CIO convention on Thursday and the New Hampshire State Democratic Convention on September 7 as well as many appearances ahead.”

De Blasio’s campaign has been plagued with setbacks, including just last week when he appeared in front of an Iowa union crowd via video conference, and the audio feed made him sound like he had swallowed helium.

April Ryan: Trump Considered Nuking Hurricanes Because it Would Mean Nuking Parts of Africa

CNN political commentators April Ryan (l) and Angela Rye on “New Day” – 8/26/19. Screen grab via CNN (h/t Newsbusters).

As Kira Davis wrote earlier today, the reports from supposedly reputable media outlets that President Trump suggested “nuking” hurricanes to keep them from hitting the U.S. are clearly fake news to everyone outside of those who (like most of the liberals in CNN’s newsroom) suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome.

A perfect example of the latter comes in the form of CNN political commentator and First Amendment defender April Ryan, fresh off of being given a free pass by her media colleagues after she had a credentialed journalist thrown out of one of her speaking engagements because “When I speak, I don’t have news covering my speech.”

Ryan joined other liberal commentators including the supposedly objective (not really) “New Day” hosts Alisyn Camerota and John Berman in a wildly biased segment talking about Trump’s alleged remarks about nuking hurricanes.

Here’s how it went down (bolded emphasis added):

The unanimously anti-Trump panel on Monday’s New Day melted down at President Trump’s alleged far-fetched suggestion to use nuclear weapons to stop hurricanes headed towards the United States. While everyone on the panel laughed off at the idea, CNN political analyst April Ryan took it a step further by declaring that the desire to nuke hurricanes off the coast of Africa is motivated by racial animus.

[…]

Ryan addressed the reporting on President Trump’s supposed plan by describing how hurricanes “start forming off the coast of Africa, as they’re moving across the Atlantic, we drop a bomb inside the eye of the hurricane and it disrupts it.”

The CNN carnival barker then proceeded to suggest President Trump had a more sinister motive for wanting to use nuclear weapons off the coast of Africa: “He brought in Africa…As we were talking during break, he’s called Africa a sh**hole nation…And what part of Africa are you talking about? Sub-Saharan Africa, where there are mostly black people?”

Watch video of the unhinged segment below:

Newsbusters and Real Clear Politics have the full transcripts.

This is not unlike what deranged leftists said about Bush before, during, and after Hurricane Katrina, suggesting Bush wanted black people to die, etc.

There is just no rationalizing with people who are this far gone, first believing there was even talk of nuking a hurricane, and second for insinuating it was being discussed because racism. Shame on CNN for not only amplifying this hateful nonsense, but for being active participants in it.

Boom: GOP Spokeswoman Drops a MOAB on Stacey Abrams’ Argument Against the Electoral College

It’s no big secret that Democrat Stacey Abrams refuses to concede last year’s Georgia gubernatorial race. She has spent the entirety of her time since telling anyone who will listen that the election was “stolen.”

Along the way, she’s continued to undermine the election process in Georgia by telling voters there that they “don’t have the right to vote.” She also launched an organization she feels will combat alleged “voter suppression” efforts in her home state and elsewhere.

As far as her plans for higher office go, she recently announced she has no plans to run for president and no plans to run for Senate in Georgia. But she did throw her hat in the ring for possible vice presidential consideration after telling reporters several months ago she didn’t want to play second fiddle.

But for Democrats with aspirations for the vice presidency come the questions about the electoral college, which leftists like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY) have come out in favor of abolishing on grounds that it’s “racist.”

Abrams took a similar position on MSNBC’s “All in with Chris Hayes” program Tuesday after being asked about it:

HAYES: Briefly. Final policy question. There have been some calls to abolish the electoral college. There`s been some controversy over this week of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez calling for it. The president emailing his supporters about how terrible an idea that was. Do you favor that?

ABRAMS: Absolutely. The electoral college was not designed to make sure people in small states weren’t subject to the tyranny of people in urban areas, that wasn’t the conversation at the time, it was because those in power did not believe that working people that the intellectual capacity to directly elect the leader of the free world. We have long passed that time and it’s time for direct election and popular vote.

GOP spokeswoman Liz Harrington got wind of Abrams’ argument and dropped a MOAB on it:

Seriously! I mean we all know at this point the only way Stacey Abrams will accept the results of any election in which she’s the Democratic nominee is if she wins it.

Just days after reports that former staffers were urging Kirsten Gillibrand to end her presidential campaign, the Senator officially dropped out of the race earlier today via a video posted to Twitter:

Her announcement came just over four hours after a tweet asking for enough donations to keep her in the running to qualify for the next round of Democratic presidential debates, which are scheduled for next month.

Evidently she didn’t make the cut.

Gillibrand told the New York Times she did plan on endorsing another candidate during the primary, but wouldn’t say who:

Gillibrand said in an exclusive interview with The New York Times that she plans to endorse another candidate in the primary but has yet to pick which one. She stopped short of saying she would pick another woman in the race.

“I think that women have a unique ability to bring people together and heal this country,” she said. “I think a woman nominee would be inspiring and exciting.”

President Trump wasted no time trolling the Democratic party and fellow New Yorker Gillibrand over the announcement not even an hour after she made it official:

In spite of her hard left turn on the Democratic party’s signature issues like abortion on demand, the most memorable moments from Gillibrand’s presidential campaign were those that painted her in a less than flattering light.

Frontrunner Joe Biden made Gillibrand look very small at the last Democratic debate when she tried to use a decades-old article written by him to suggest he didn’t want women to work outside of the home. Watch:

Then there was the woman who became Internet famous during a Gillibrand campaign stop in February after walking past the candidate, saying she just wanted to get some ranch dressing:

Gillibrand never broke out of the below-1% range in polling for the entirety of her candidacy, which she partially blamed on the stance she took in calling on Sen. Al Franken (D) to resign in the midst of a #MeToo scandal in December 2017.

Next up on the drop out list: NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio?

As it turns out, the New York Times isn’t the only national media outlet dealing with an icky bug problem in their newsroom.

The Washingtonian reports that the Washington Post is dealing with one of their own (h/t: Twitchy):

“We have a growing pest problem,” Post director of newsroom operations Jillian S. Jarrett wrote in memo to newsroom employees August 14. “We’ve gotten several reports of cockroaches in the newsroom.” Lest you think this is a building-wide issue, Jarrett writes, “Facilities says that this is a newsroom problem and not happening on other floors.”

The Post‘s building sprays the premises regularly, the memo reads, “but we have to do more to keep the bugs at bay.” Among the anti-pest measures Jarrett recommends newsroom employees take: Make sure all food and dirty dishes are put away—and leave nothing “on or inside your desk,” Jarrett writes. Clean up after “cakings”—the Post term for someone’s leaving party—which means disposing of crumbs and leftovers properly, as well as cleaning up utensils. “There are Clorox wipes in the copy aide station,” Jarrett says. “We have on-call cleaning services, if you need a vacuum or mop, please let me know.”

The problem is apparently so bad that some journalists at the paper are having to come up with creative ways to combat them:

The Washingtonian didn’t provide photo or video evidence but Washington Post reporter Tracy Jan sent out some tweets earlier this month that included photos and video of Telford’s skills at cockroach removal:

On Monday after the story about the New York Times’ bedbug problem started circulating on social media, journalists from the Washington Post tweeted out that they were thankful their problems were confined to roaches:

There are oh so many metaphors that can be explored here. I’ll leave you to them. Video Appears to Show Biden Forget Obama’s Name, Calls the G7 Summit “the G8”

Joe Biden has committed so many gaffes in just the month of August alone that most of us have lost track of them.

He’s added more to the list this week, with the two latest coming from a campaign stop he made in Richmond, Va. on Tuesday.

In the first video clip, Biden is talking about remarks President Trump made at the G7 Summit earlier this week where he said “President Putin outsmarted President Obama” on the Russia/Ukraine/Crimea issue. The Daily Caller’s Virginia Kruta sets the scene:

[Trump] claimed that Obama wanted Russia removed from the G7 — then the G8 — because Putin had “tricked” Obama when he invaded the Ukraine on his watch. Trump had then argued that Russia should be allowed to come back to the table, saying that he would rather have them “inside the tent” than outside it.

“They invaded another country and annexed a significant portion of it, called Crimea,” Biden said in response, adding, “He’s saying that it was President … my boss … it was his fault.”

Watch video of Biden’s flub below:

During that same speech, probably preceding it, Biden also mistakenly referred to the G7 Summit as “the G8”:

In fairness, it used to be called the G8 until Russia was effectively kicked out of it in 2014 over their annexation of Crimea. President Obama helped lead the effort to ban Putin from the summit as punishment for his actions.

That isolation is why the summit is now called the G7.

The rising number of gaffes Biden continues to make come at a time when as his aides are furiously trying to wave off any concerns that the former vice president is not up to the task of running for president:

“I think the press has to be more careful about applying an unfair standard to Joe Biden than they’re applying to other candidates,” Bedingfield responded. “If you listen to what the candidates say all day as they’re out campaigning, they’re out in front of cameras, they’re in front of people, they’re talking all day. Everybody’s going to slip up and misstate a name or a date or a location. It happens all the time.”

She continued: “People know who he is. They know this is a part of his charm. They understand that, you know, they’re getting it straight from him. It’s not overly packaged. He’s always speaking from his heart. And sure, that means sometimes he’s going to misstate a couple of things. But, frankly, so does every other candidate.”

It’s true that all candidates make gaffes of some sort. It sort of goes with territory of being on the road non-stop, talking to people, and being surrounded by campaign aides 24-7. But this is different. Very different.

I wrote last week about this issue and speculated that it’s quite possible the frequent mistakes Biden makes on the campaign trail can no longer be boiled down simply to tiredness, long days on the campaign trail, and “Joe being Joe.”

I hope I’m wrong and that this is not “something more” concerning, as some Democrats have hinted it might be.

It’s been a wild news week where bedbugs have featured prominently in national stories about poor working conditions at the New York Times, a minor-turned-major insult directed at Times columnist Bret Stephens, and allegations of a bedbug infestation at President Trump’s Doral golf resort.

The Stephens story is arguably the biggest among them, considering by his own hand he brought the harsh, glaring spotlight on himself by turning a harmless (in the scheme of things) Twitter insult from a George Washington University associate professor into a big f—in’ deal.

Naturally, President Trump was going to weigh in on this matter because Stephens, viewed in some circles as the NYT’s “token” conservative, is a frequent critic of Trump and has bragged about being a staunch part of the Never Trump movement.

Late last night and first thing this morning, Trump cut loose on the stories about alleged bedbug infestations at Doral, and Stephens himself:

Though Stephens has indeed deleted his Twitter account in the aftermath of the backlash against him, no doubt he’ll hear about Trump’s rant against him, since he seems to be super-sensitive to and monitors that sort of thing.

In a rather ironic update to Slate’s Monday story about the NYT bedbug infestation issue that was announced via an email to employees at the beginning of the week, exactly one bedbug was found “on a 3rd floor couch” after the affected areas were treated. There was no word, however, of whether or not Bret Stephens’ office is on the 3rd floor in the vicinity of that couch.

Stay tuned.

Update: In Twitter Post, Beto O’Rourke Doubles Down on Ghoulish Third Trimester Abortion Position

This morning I wrote about a campaign appearance 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke made in Charleston, SC on Monday where he was asked by a pro-life voter about his stance on abortions late into the third trimester of pregnancy when the unborn baby is viable.

O’Rourke’s answer was not surprising but was very disturbing nevertheless, and spoke volumes about the left’s ghoulish position on abortion. To quickly recap, here’s an abbreviated version of the transcript:

Voter: And someone asked you specifically, specifically about third trimester abortions, and you said that’s a decision left up to the mother. So, my question is this: I was born September 8th, 1989, and I want to know if you think on September 7th, 1989, my life had no value.

Beto: Of course I don’t think that. And of course I’m glad that you’re here. But you referenced my answer in Ohio, and it remains the same. This is a decision that neither you, nor I, nor the United States government should be making. That’s a decision for the woman to make.

(The College of Charleston crowd uproariously applauds)

We want her to have the best possible access to care and to a medical provider, and I’ll tell you the consequence of this, this attack on a woman’s right to choose …

Voter interjects: But what about my right to life?

Beto:I listened to you and I heard your question. I’m answering it. And the attack on Roe v. Wade, which we thought was the settled law of the land, and lest we had any illusion that the achievements that we’ve made are protected forever, or that progress is inevitable, that has been shattered right now.

As I noted in my post, it was mostly a stock answer he gave on the issue, designed to win applause. But reading between the lines, here’s what Beto was really telling that pro-life voter even though he didn’t actually say the words:

“Yes, I’m glad you’re here but I’m also glad your mother had the right to abort you up to the moment of birth and it would have been ok if she did because it’s legal and we should respect a woman’s decision no matter what it is.”

Unfortunately, O’Rourke doubled down on that position in a tweet posted this afternoon, which includes video of the voter’s question and Beto’s answer:

Several conservative websites have written about this story, but the only mainstream media outlet I’ve seen report on it is Fox News. Don’t look for many – if any – journalists from other major news outlets to write about it, or press him for more specifics on his answer, or ask him if there should be any exceptions for third trimester abortions.

Because when it comes to the so-called “right” to terminate an unborn life up until the moment of birth – and beyond, the mainstream media have made it very clear where they stand: with Democrats.

Sad.

Democratic presidential candidate and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) at the Ali Center in Louisville, KY – 8/25/19. Screen grab via Reddit user cmplxgal.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) held a rally in Louisville, KY on Sunday at the Muhammad Ali Center where his main focus was to attack Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) in his own backyard.

The Louisville Courier-Journal reported on the rally and what Sanders said to fire up the crowd of around 2,000:

Sanders, fighting to be the Democratic nominee in 2020, accused McConnell of blocking important legislation in the U.S. Senate at the behest of corporate interests and detriment of the working class.

“I say to Mitch McConnell: Please stand with the working people in Kentucky and America, not your wealthy campaign contributors,” Sanders said.

Sanders told the crowd that McConnell was obstructing legislation recently passed by the U.S. House that would raise the federal minimum wage to $15, expand background checks on gun purchases and strengthen the country’s election security from foreign attacks.

McConnell has the right to vote against those bills and explain such opposition to his constituents, but he lacks the right to “stop democracy in the United States Senate,” the Vermont senator said.

As it turns out, McConnell wasn’t Sanders’s only target. Since the 2020 presidential candidate was at the Ali Center, sometime before or after his speech, he took a few swings at a speed bag, according to video posted by Reddit user cmplxgal on Monday.

I couldn’t embed the video, but multiple Twitter users posted an abbreviated, soundless clip of Sanders punching – and then the bag punching him back:

I’m anxiously awaiting reactions to this video from Sen. Ted Cruz, Rep. Dan Crenshaw and/or President Trump. Should be epic.
