Joe Biden Won the Contest For the Most Ridiculous Statement At Last Night’s Debate

Last night, two bad teams got together to pillow fight on Thursday Night Football, yet if you decided to watch it instead of the Democratic Primary debate, congratulations. You made the right decision.

It was full cries of racism, lies about socialism, and Trump bashing, and as per usual, lots and lots of crazy policy proposals. On that front, a surprising candidate took home the award for the most ridiculous one. Yes, Beto O’Rourke wants to take your guns and Elizabeth Warren claims her bazillion dollar programs won’t raise taxes on the middle class, but Joe Biden said something last night that eclipses them all in terms of sheer insanity. Given he’s the supposed “moderate” in the race, that’s not a contest he’s supposed to be winning.

This is Joe Biden, so the first thing we have to ask is whether he even knew what he was saying. This is the same guy who can’t remember what day it is half the time and nearly had his eye explode on national TV. In other words, it’s possible he’ll walk this back.

For the time being though, let’s talk about how nonsensical this is.

Imagine world where “non-violent” criminals like drug dealers, financial scammers, and thieves carry no chance of incarceration. Heck, we don’t even have to imagine it. Just take a flight out to California and witness the chaos caused by the fact that shop-lifters aren’t arrested unless they steal over $900 (Prop 47). What’s that led to? People stealing $800 worth of stuff knowing they likely won’t be pursued and certainly won’t be jailed.

Now, take that outcome and multiply it’s effects by a million and you’d get what would happen if we stopped giving jail time to non-violent criminals. There would be zero deterrent to committing robbery, carrying out white collar crime, or bribing someone in power. The drug cartels would explode even more as nearly every part of their apparatus would no longer be subject to imprisonment.

I’m sure Biden will walk this back. Perhaps he already has. But what this shows though is just how bad he is at this. The guy’s teeth nearly fell out of his head last night as he garbled his words. He talked about record players in a bizarre answer at one point. Am I really supposed to believe this is the guy that’s going to out campaign Donald Trump? No doubt, he starts with major advantages which I’ve laid out before. He’s “ole Joe,” the comfortable, safe pick for a lot of moderates. But this campaign has barely started and if Biden somehow stumbles into the nomination, Trump is going to absolutely work him over. Whether that translates into winning in 2020, I don’t know because Trump has his own issues with voters. What I do know is that Democrats should probably be wishing for someone more capable to take on the incumbent.

Failed Texas Senate candidate and failing 2020 Democratic primary candidate Robert “Beto” O’Rourke is an odd duck and it shows. Between the weird videos of him doing random things like getting a dental appointment and his attempts at trying to be edgy — “trying” being the operative term here — he’s not coming off as a particularly stable candidate.

His stability issues aren’t helped by his apparent lack of consistency when it comes to the issues. For instance, his beliefs about people’s rights sat one way when he was trying to get elected in Texas, and another now that he’s running for President.

For instance, O’Rourke recently said that he wanted to institute a mandatory buyback program for your AR-15. It’s a move that will essentially force you to sell your gun back to the government and be paid for it with your own money. O’Rourke believes this will make us safer.

“Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47,” said O’Rourke during the debate on Thursday, and even tweeted that phrase out for emphasis.

Funny enough, that wasn’t O’Rourke’s stance when he was trying to get elected in Texas. As discovered by Daily Wire’s Ryan Saavedra, during an interview on the Chad Hasty program in Texas, Hasty asked O’Rourke why people shouldn’t own AR-15’s. O’Rourke corrected him, saying that they should own them.

“To be clear they should have them, if you purchased that AR-15, if you own it, keep it, continue to use it responsibly,” said O’Rourke.

Confused? Don’t be. The simple answer here is that O’Rourke has been trying to appeal to the radicals that have taken ownership of the Democratic party, and as such, his sudden turnaround on AR-15 ownership isn’t a surprise. He’s just saying what needs to be said in order to appeal to what he thinks is his base.

This is evidenced in a lot of things. O’Rourke was only too happy to use the shooting in El Paso to accuse Trump of all sorts of things when the spotlight was inevitably put on him since El Paso is his hometown. Where the world saw death and blood, O’Rourke saw a political opportunity and took it.

It’s a disgusting moment, but it highlights that O’Rourke is an opportunist who will say what he thinks will get him approval points.

It also makes him a complete fraud whose true beliefs aren’t really clear to the people.

Following The DOJ’s Rejection of McCabe’s Appeal, CNN Colleagues Worry His Presence May Undermine Network’s ‘Journalistic Credibility’

Westlake Legal Group ap-andrew-mccabe-620x413 Following The DOJ’s Rejection of McCabe’s Appeal, CNN Colleagues Worry His Presence May Undermine Network’s ‘Journalistic Credibility’ Mueller Investigation Media Jeffrey Toobin Jeffrey McCall Front Page Stories Featured Story FBI and DOJ Corruption donald trump democrats crime Andrew McCabe Allow Media Exception Abuse of Power 2020

In the wake of Thursday’s bombshell news that the DOJ has rejected fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe’s appeal of the decision to recommend charges against him, his new employer, CNN, is in a bit of a quandary.

The looming charges stem from a 2018 DOJ Inspector General report that found McCabe had lied under oath on three occasions.

Although the network knew when they hired McCabe as a contributor last month that an indictment was a possibility, they likely felt the chances were remote. Now that the odds have increased significantly, some of his colleagues aren’t so happy.

A current CNN on-air personality, who spoke to Fox News on the condition of anonymity, said, “It’s hard to see the justification for hiring him initially since it was publicly documented he’s, best case, a liar. How will CNN handle it if he’s also soon indicted?”

This person also told Fox that “it erodes our journalistic credibility to have so many highly anti-Trump, former Obama DOJ/security officials without a semblance of balance.” This was a reference to the network’s hiring of Obama administration officials such as Samantha Vinograd, Jim Sciutto, Asha Rangappa, Juliette Kayyem, James Clapper and now McCabe.

Does CNN actually have any journalistic credibility or balance?

A second current CNN on-air personality who wishes to remain anonymous told Fox that “many liberal-leaning staffers feel McCabe is “somewhat of a freedom fighter” who was “unfairly targeted” by the Trump administration.” But this person feels that McCabe “made some colossal mistakes and the fact that he f—ing lied under oath, I have no sympathies for him. How will [CNN] have him on weigh in on anything related to integrity?”

Integrity? CNN?

This source added:

CNN would “stand by McCabe until they can’t” and said network producers have kept McCabe out of situations where he could be “undressed” on-air by pundits with opposing views.

McCabe’s colleague also pointed out that CNN doesn’t typically refer to him as a “law enforcement analyst,” instead opting for the simpler label “correspondent.”

Apparently, McCabe does have some supporters at the network, one of whom is their top legal analyst, Jeffrey Toobin, whom they trotted out yesterday after the news broke. Toobin said, “Andy McCabe is a CNN contributor. He’s a colleague and a friend to many of us who work here. This is an extremely unusual prosecution. Andy McCabe had the right to speak to reporters. That is beyond dispute. As deputy director of the FBI, he had the right to speak to reporters. He also has an impeccable record as one of the most honored and successful FBI agents of his generation.”

With all due respect to Jeffrey Toobin, McCabe did have the right to speak to reporters. However, he did not have the right to lie about it.

McCabe is entitled to due process under the law as all Americans are, except for President Trump or anyone associated with him. But the IG report seems pretty straightforward. And, as I see it, McCabe’s involvement in the FISA application process and his role in the FBI’s counter-intelligence investigation against Trump may bring further trouble his way.

And just maybe, it wasn’t such a wise move for McCabe to have sued the FBI and the DOJ in August over his firing. It’s never a good idea to bring a lawsuit against an organization which holds power over one’s future in their hands.

DePauw University professor and frequent CNN critic Jeffrey McCall spoke to Fox and said:

CNN made a questionable move by hiring McCabe in the first place and needs to keep him off TV while things play out.

With this latest development, the move looks even worse. McCabe has credibility issues, and that is a problem for a news channel that has had its professional practices challenged of late. At the least, it would behoove CNN to suspend McCabe from his contributor position until the legal process has worked its way out.”

In Shocking Essay, ‘Black Lives Matter’ Activist Deray Mckesson Accuses Shaun King of Fraud, Deception

In this undated photo, Shaun King poses where he was the lead pastor of Courageous Church in Midtown Atlanta. King, a blogger who rose to prominence in the aftermath of a police shooting last summer in Ferguson, Mo., pushed back against claims by conservative bloggers that his parents were both white and that he exaggerated an assault he endured two decades ago while attending high school in Versailles, Ky. (Vino Wong/Atlanta Journal-Constitution via AP)

A shocking fracture in the Black Lives Matter movement came Thursday when popular activist DeRay Mckesson penned an article in Medium accusing fellow movement figurehead Shaun King of fraud and deception.

Mckesson, better known by just his first name and his signature puffy blue vest, said King had developed a disturbing pattern that was becoming more and more noticeable.

Mckesson claimed he had tried to take the high road and work through back channels but King’s continued misbehavior warranted public exposure.

The New York Daily News columnist didn’t do much to engender trust after his meteoric rise to fame within the activist culture, with rumors beginning to fly of his mistreatment of women – Black women in particular – and his mismanagement of funds. Not only that, King more recently made several grave errors in judgment, outing two men he believed to be involved in two separate hate crimes, only to discover he had exposed the wrong people.

Mckesson laid out a thorough and tight timeline of King’s disturbing behavior, beginning with the founding of King’s organization “Justice Together” and detailing the problems in the operation. Some of his points included:

1. When people disagreed, they were removed from the group or it was stated that they were white supremacists or trolls.

Mckesson expounded on each point with impressive detail. The entire essay is lengthy, but includes a strong and thorough thread all the way through King’s most recent transgressions. He also questioned King’s claims of raising over $35 million in funds for various charities. Apparently King was simply claiming the fundraising efforts of organizations he had shared information about on social media.

Then there is Clarissa Brooks.

Mckesson goes to painstaking lengths to expose the depth of King’s financial scams and mistreatment of employees. It is an impressive collection of information, witness reports and records.

What is even more impressive is his willingness to call out the bad eggs at the risk of humiliating a movement he believes in.

Bloodshed in Houston: The Winners and Losers of the Democratic Debate

The Thursday night showdown between the top candidates in the Democratic Primary provided very few surprises, but a lot of in-fighting and a little bloodshed was still visible on the stage.

A debate featuring Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, and Elizabeth Warren front and center, surrounded by Andrew Yang, Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar, Corey Booker, Kamala Harris, Julian Castro, and Beto O’Rourke, the ABC News event was well-run and did a good job of clearly setting the candidates at one another without goading them into fistfights. The result was a lot of civil disagreement and a little bit of bitterness, all tied together with discussions of policy and the direction of the election cycle.

Here are the winners and losers of the debate. As always, this is from a neutral/objective viewpoint and not through the lens of a conservative perspective.

The Winners: Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders

It should come as little surprise that the highest-polling candidates are such because they are the most talented politicians, but what makes this top three so appealing is that Warren and Sanders tag-teamed Biden and couldn’t break him. Essentially, Warren and Sanders are the same, and they showed it in the way they responded to questions. This also became the early hurdle for Biden, who actually weathered the storm very well. He did not get frustrated, and maintained his talking points without sounding robotic. Sanders, clearly thinking to rekindle the hot moment from the last debate, used the “I wrote the damn bill” line again, but to substantially less effect than last time. Biden side-stepped the line, and Klobuchar would actually later say that while Sanders did write the bill, she actually read it, and used that to score a point over Biden.

As things stand right now, Sanders is likely going to go down in history as always the bridesmaid and never the bride. He will end up endorsing Warren, who was the stronger of the two socialists on stage.

Runner-up: Corey Booker

I will say this about Booker: He was the most human person on the stage tonight. His sense of comedic timing and his East-Coast-But-Still-Somewhat-Folksy mentality played very well on a stage beset by in-fighting. Booker just naturally seems like a nice person, and one you might want to have a drink with. He doesn’t stand a chance, of course, but he is working all the right angles and in a different world, his views on charter schools (as described tonight as opposed to previous nights), the black community, and the need to work with Republicans to get things solved makes him the best candidate the Democrats have.

The Losers: Julian Castro, Kamala Harris, Beto O’Rourke

These three are so much alike it’s scary. Both Castro and O’Rourke try to claim some sort of deep emotional tie to the Hispanic community, and Harris continues to try to be black as opposed to a cop. It isn’t working for any of them.

O’Rourke is still pushing gun-grabbing and talking about the problems with Donald Trump’s racism… and he does all this while being a rich, white male. If he was trying to be a walking contradiction, this is perhaps a little too-on-the-nose of him. He could very easily step aside and offer his support to a woman or person of color, but instead he chooses to run a race he has no shot at winning (which he knows, but he’s too committed to the role now).

Castro speaks very little Spanish, has been a career politician rather than a well-in-tune member of the Hispanic community and went after Biden in a very fierce and very unappealing way. I can’t say that this debate hurt Castro, considering he is only polling at about two percent, but it sure didn’t help him.

Harris is trying to hard to tell African-Americans that she’s just like them, and it’s just not working. Ever since Tusli Gabbard took some well-aimed shots at her, Harris has been very quiet and somber since then, and she isn’t looking to try all that hard to win these voting groups.

The Also-Rans: Amy Klobuchar, Andrew Yang, Pete Buttigieg

Kudos to Yang for offering Americans $1000 per month if people just signed up online and got selected. It was a bold move, but it happened at the beginning of the three-hour debate, and everyone had forgotten about it by the end of the debate. He didn’t really stand out, save for a quick exchange about the nastiness of all the in-fighting, which Castro rudely responded to.

Klobuchar had some good points, but she is just not a very exciting candidate and it still shows. Buttigieg, meanwhile, doesn’t seem to know what he wants to be when he grows up.

Overall, the debate wasn’t terrible, though at three hours long, it was a bit much.

Rep. Jim Jordan Blasts Red Flag Laws – They Attack a ‘Fundamental and Sacred Principle’ of America

Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., during a news conference with House members, where they called for a second prosecutor to investigate the Dept. of Justice and FBI, Tuesday, May 22, 2018, on Capitol Hill in Washington. (AP Photo/Jacquelyn Martin)

On Tuesday, during a hearing on a “red flag” law, Republican Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan sounded off.

The House was debating multiple gun control bills, including H.R. 1236 — the Extreme Risk Protection Order Act of 2019.

Under the law, certain people would be able to petition a court to impede an American’s 2nd Amendment rights:

[In response to the petition, a court may prohibit] a named individual from having under the custody or control of the individual, owning, purchasing, possessing, or receiving a firearm…[or] having a firearm removed or requiring the surrender of firearms from a named individual.

Despite support from some Republicans, the concept of red flag laws is, of course, a serious potential threat to constitutional liberty and due process.

Subsequently, Jim blasted the legislation, which he insisted would put the kibosh on “innocent until proven guilty.”

The congressman also pointed out the bill’s alarming designation of those granted the ability to petition a court.

Here’s part of what he had to say:

If the House Judiciary passes this bill today, we will have changed a fundamental and sacred principle in this country. In America, you are innocent until proven guilty until today. If we pass this bill today, we are going to invert the standard and say, “you are guilty until proven innocent, and you will be guilty without doing anything wrong.” Under this bill, you are guilty without doing anything wrong simply because someone thinks you might do something wrong – and who is this someone under this bill who can petition the court to take away your Second Amendment liberties? Who is this someone defined under this bill? Page 13, amendment … it says “family or household member.” Go down to subsection D. Who’s a household member? “An individual who resides or who has resided with the respondent during the past year.” A roommate who hung out with you for one month last year can go petition a court to take away your Second Amendment liberties. Some roommate maybe didn’t like you, thought you were a slob, whatever, can go petition the court to take away your fundamental right without you doing anything wrong – and oh, guess what? When they go in the court to take away your fundamental liberty even though you haven’t done anything, committed no crime, guess what? You don’t even get to be there; you don’t even get to defend yourself.

We all want to stop gun violence. We all know these terrible evil things that happen are just that, terrible and evil, but trying to do something that this bill seeks to do in this manner is so fundamentally wrong, and again, for the Judiciary Committee in the United States House of Representatives, who is charged more than any other committee in this body with defending the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, to pass this, it’s just wrong.

Solid points.

As reported by The Daily Wire, H.R. 1236 has only two Republican sponsors — Christopher Smith of New Jersey and Pennsylvania’s Brian Fitzpatrick and

No matter, Trump hasn’t said he’ll sign any of the current gun control legislation.

Speaking to CBS News, Mitch McConnell called all the current batch of anti-gun proposals sheer “theatrics”:

“We are working on coming up with a proposal that the president will sign. Until that happens, all of this is theatrics.”

Joy Behar Hopes Elizabeth Warren Puts Bernie in a Headlock During the Debate, and We May All Be Deported

Joy Behar’s jonesin’ for some solid gold entertainment during Thursday night’s Democratic debate in Houston.

Amid discussion on The View, the outspoken lady made quite a statement involving everyone’s favorite rich uncle, Bernie Sanders, who Joy’s previously complimented as “cute.”

The host’s also apparently a bit of a WWE fan; who knew?

As reported by Fox, Behar’s ready to rumble:

“It’s getting a little boring to me. I would like to see Elizabeth Warren put Bernie [Sanders] in a headlock. I really would enjoy that.”

Thursday will be the first face-off between the two, so anything goes.

My personal prediction: Everyone will make fools of themselves trying to one-up each with increasingly absurd positions.

I believe I gave an example of this previously… Oh, yeah — yeah, I did. Here we go:

In the skirmish, we’re sure to see what will appear as goofballs making more and more absurd statements about illegal immigration, given the Dem platform going the way of no borders to the United States of America.

Buckle up for buffoonery.

“Illegal immigrants are good.” “What?! They’re GREAT!” “I think illegal immigrants are the best!” “They’re what America wants!” “Wants?! No, needs!” “They’re better than Oreos!” “No, they’re better than double-stuffed Oreos!” “How dare you?! They’re better than 500 double-stuffed Oreos!” “They’re better than a million-gajillion triple-stuffed Oreos!”

I can’t fully express my disappointment to have grown up only to find that adults’ behavior is far, far, far more stupid than I could’ve ever imagined.

But Joy doesn’t want that. She made it surprisingly clear:

“I love Elizabeth Warren very much and I think she would make a really good president, but I don’t believe…this country would vote for her because of two things. Number one: She believes in Medicare-for-all without private insurance and — I’ve said before — American’s don’t like you to take anything away from them. We like having that. … She needs to take that out and say, ‘Well, you can have it if you want.’

“Democrats want legal immigration. They want people to come in legally — the way we’ve done since this country began. … And I think that those things need to be clear. Otherwise, Elizabeth is not going to capture the heart of the heartland.”

Wow. I believe she’s right.

Pocahontas has been catching up with frontrunner Joe Biden. She’s got a shot tonight to take the lead.

But she may be tempted to give in to my Oreo scenario above — Joe’s comin’ out with his woke guns blazin’: Just a couple weeks ago, he claimed illegal immigrants are even more American than many Americans (here).

Therefore, what we may hear tonight:

“Illegal immigrants are more American than all Americans.”

“Illegal immigrants are more American than George Washington.”

“Only citizens of Mexico should be declared American.”

Fasten that seatbelt, my fellow non-countrymen.

There’s been some rapid fire developments involving President Trump’s new asylum rules, which require seekers to apply in the first safe country they come to. This is to prevent economic migrants from country shopping and abusing the already overwhelmed asylum process. Seems like common sense, right?

Well, if you are a judge on the 9th Circuit, not so much. Judge Tigar originally put a nationwide injunction in place. Then the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals overruled him. Then he simply put the injunction back in place. The Supreme Court had seen enough though and finally made a ruling vacating the entirety of the injunction and slapping Judge Tigar back down to earth.

While the decision was 7-2, this didn’t sit too well with Justice Sotomayor, an Obama appointee to the highest court. She ranted against her colleagues for the decision they made.

“Once again the Executive Branch has issued a rule that seeks to upend longstanding practices regarding refugees who seek shelter from persecution,” Sotomayor wrote in her dissenting opinion. “Although this Nation has long kept its doors open to refugees — and although the stakes for asylum seekers could not be higher — the Government implemented its rule without first providing the public notice and inviting the public input generally required by law.”

You know what this sounds like? A baseless emotional appeal. The vast majority of asylum seekers are not escaping persecution. For those that are, Mexico provides a safe haven for them to evade immediate danger. The point of asylum is not to go find a better life and opportunity. It’s to prevent bodily harm. Trump’s new policy, partnering with the Mexican authorities, does just that.

We simply do not have the resources to accept every single person who wants to claim asylum. Especially not when well over 80% of cases are fraudulent.

Sotomayor also slammed the Trump administration for requesting the Supreme Court to allow the rule when lower courts ruled against the move. “Unfortunately, it appears the Government has treated this exceptional mechanism as a new normal,” she wrote. “Historically, the Government has made this kind of request rarely; now it does so reflexively.”

“This is an extraordinary request,” Sotomayor continued. “Unfortunately, the Court acquiesces. Because I do not believe the Government has met its weighty burden for such relief, I would deny the stay.”

When you’ve got a judge going completely rogue in the 9th Circuit, flaunting even the decision of the appeals court, how exactly does that not meet the burden for the Supreme Court to step in? Heck, that’s part of the reason the Supreme Court exists. To be the final arbitrator of such issues.

Past that though, you know what you don’t see in Sotomayor’s angry dissent? An appeal to the law. Nowhere does she list out why Judge Tigar’s decision was proper in the first place. She doesn’t explain why the DOJ is wrong to seek relief in the face of an activist judge that won’t obey higher rulings. Instead, all you get are emotional ravings.

That may be fine for political punditry. It’s not fine for the Supreme Court. Sotomayor is a partisan actor. Nothing more. Every single decision she makes is based on whether it follows liberal orthodoxy. While the left complains about “right wing” judges simply following the constitution, the left wing judges on the court continue to scoff at the plain text of the law in order to bend the country to their preferred outcome.

So while Sotomayor may be taking aim at her colleagues, her statement says far more about herself than it does them.

Alyssa Milano’s trajectory is certainly an unusual one.

The television actress appears to have, for some reason, elected herself as a governmental leader.

Beyond that, she’s my personal heartbreak: What began with polite expressions of political views has evolved into rude shouts from someone who appears to have a punishingly extreme messiah complex.

And her method’s a surprise as well: I’d assume an actress wanting to transform into a very loud voice telling the world how it’s supposed be would first learn things — research the issues tirelessly, which is to say, research all sides and talk to all different people and understand them.

Rather, she appears to have taken the approach of, “What do Democrats say? Okay, I’ll just go around saying that.”

Instead of broadening her horizons, she comes across as a Hollywood Democrat who’s confined herself to that box, with no concept of the rest of the world, of those who think differently, of other ideas or the reasons for them. Or, to a degree, even the existence of those people and things.

Apropos, here are a few moves by my long lost Samantha Micelli, who appears to believe the feds have banned immigrants:

On Tuesday, the Who’s the Boss star got together with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz following a tweeted challenge between the two. The purpose: to discuss gun control.

At the meet-up, Alyssa explained herself to Ted:

“I’m a mom, I have two children. You’re a dad…I look at my children and want to give them everything, all the greatest possibilities. I look at my children and I’m terrified. I don’t know how to keep my children safe, and it’s terrifying. And I think parents across the country feel this way.”

Of course, a way that won’t keep her children safe is to prevent innocent people (including her) from defending themselves.

Here’s what Milano had to say right after their conversation:

She followed with this:

So did the meeting change anything? Well, no — a congressman meeting with an actress doesn’t change anything, ’cause it’s a congressman meeting with an actress.

But for Alyssa, perhaps the meeting was monumental. Given many of the things she’s said — in interviews, in public, and on social media — she may have never met anyone outside a Dentyne-sized bubble.

For more on that, consider this actual quote from her during the Ted talk:

“Your stance has made you almost like this caricature of a villain, and that’s why this meeting was so important for me, because I wanted to look at you in the eye and know that you’re really a human with a heartbeat.”

Ted won election to the Senate. Twice. And he was next in line — behind Trump — to snag the Republican nomination last time around. Yet, in Alyssa’s mind, she’s the regular one, and he’s this mystical creature people imagine as unreal.

So there’s that.

Want something more? Here’s a Tweet from Wednesday. If you can make this make sense with all the other things she’s said and done, I look forward to hearing from you in the Comments.
