Ted Cruz Busts Bernie’s Bizarre Population Control Position, Suggests He’s Picked Thanos as Running Mate

As Bonchie wrote Thursday, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) “reached a new level of depravity” at the CNN climate change town hall Wednesday with his endorsement of third-world population control as a method to save the environment.

A quick recap:

The questioner, identified by CNN as a teacher named Martha Readyoff, said that she realized linking population control to climate was a topic “poisonous for politicians, but it’s crucial to face.”

“Empowering women and educating everyone on the need to curb population growth seems a reasonable campaign to enact. Would you be courageous enough to discuss this issue and make it a key feature of a plan to address climate catastrophe?”

“Well, Martha, the answer is yes,” Sanders said.

“The answer has everything to do with the fact that women in the United States of America, by the way, have a right to control their own bodies, and make reproductive decisions,” the senator said to applause from the crowd.

“The Mexico City agreement which denies American aide to those organizations around the world that allow women to have abortions or even get involved in birth control to me is totally absurd,” Sanders continued. “So I think, especially in poor countries around the world where women do not necessarily want to have large numbers of babies, and where they can have the opportunity through birth control to control the number of kids they have, is something I very, very strongly support.”

Watch:

Though some have laughed about Sanders’ response, in reality it’s deeply disturbing and should be condemned by everyone – including the other candidates and including any journalist who interviews him and asks him questions about his stance at a later time.

Unfortunately, that won’t happen because the mainstream media is not in the business of calling Democrats to the carpet for their more bizarre and inhumane positions on the issues. And his fellow Democratic candidates won’t do it because they’d rather appear “climate woke” than right.

Fortunately, Republican politicians suffer from no such restraints, and Sen. Ted Cruz led the way in tweeting out a fitting response, quipping that Sanders had secretly picked a certain Marvel villain for his VP running mate whose plans for the world are not that far off from Bernie’s abortion-as-population-control position.

Here’s what Cruz wrote:

… and later he expanded beyond Bernie and compared the entire Democratic presidential field to Thanos:

Perfect.

Joe Walsh and Other Grifters Whine As Several States Cancel Their GOP Primary

As we’ve noted time an again, one of the amazing things about having Donald Trump in office is watching people take an action that would not be controversial at all and raise it to the level of a constitutional crisis. A new one has emerged as several states GOP party organizations are in the process of cancelling their primary election.

Four states are poised to cancel their 2020 GOP presidential primaries and caucuses, a move that would cut off oxygen to Donald Trump’s long-shot primary challengers.

Republican parties in South Carolina, Nevada, Arizona and Kansas are expected to finalize the cancellations in meetings this weekend, according to three GOP officials who are familiar with the plans.

The moves are the latest illustration of Trump’s takeover of the entire Republican Party apparatus. They underscore the extent to which his allies are determined to snuff out any potential nuisance en route to his renomination — or even to deny Republican critics a platform to embarrass him.

Elections are expensive. State parties must underwrite the cost of primary elections. There is no challenger for Trump (no I don’t consider either Weld or Bill Kristol’s sock puppet as challengers). But, the people running a grift off of allegedly opposing Trump’s renomination are incensed:

“Trump and his allies and the Republican National Committee are doing whatever they can do to eliminate primaries in certain states and make it very difficult for primary challengers to get on the ballot in a number of states,” said former Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.), who recently launched his primary campaign against the president. “It’s wrong, the RNC should be ashamed of itself, and I think it does show that Trump is afraid of a serious primary challenge because he knows his support is very soft.”

“Primary elections are important, competition within parties is good, and we intend to be on the ballot in every single state no matter what the RNC and Trump allies try to do,” Walsh added. “We also intend to loudly call out this undemocratic bull on a regular basis.”

But is this a big deal to anyone who isn’t trying to scab free meals from campaign donations? Apparently, not.

The shutdowns aren’t without precedent. Some of the states forgoing Republican nomination contests have done so during the reelection bids of previous presidents. Arizona, GOP officials there recalled, did not hold a Democratic presidential primary in 2012 [note: 15 states, including New York and Florida, did not hold a Democrat primary in 2012], when Barack Obama was seeking a second term, or in 1996, when Bill Clinton was running for reelection. Kansas did not have a Democratic primary in 1996, and Republican officials in the state pointed out that they have long chosen to forgo primaries during a sitting incumbent’s reelection year.

South Carolina GOP Chairman Drew McKissick noted that his state decided not to hold Republican presidential primaries in 1984, when Ronald Reagan was running for reelection, or in 2004, when George W. Bush was seeking a second term. South Carolina, he added, also skipped its 1996 and 2012 Democratic contests.

“As a general rule, when either party has an incumbent president in the White House, there’s no rationale to hold a primary,” McKissick said.

Perhaps the closest comparison to the present day is 1992, when George H.W. Bush was facing a primary challenge from conservative commentator Pat Buchanan. Several states that year [note: by my count 11] effectively ditched their Republican contests, including Iowa, which has long cast the first votes of the presidential nomination battles.

So this isn’t actually an unprecedented take over of the party apparatus by a sitting president who is actually the head of his party? It is something that happens every time a president runs for reelection? A skeptic would wonder why this is even a story.

The reason the GOP exists is not to provide fodder for 24-hour news channels and political blogs. They exist to elect candidates. State parties are under no legal, moral, or ethical obligation to give attention to self-promoters who have little to no interest in advancing party goals and are in it for self-aggrandizement.

If Walsh 2020 catches fire rather than self-immolates, these few states don’t make a difference. If he ends up, as I suspect, a Wikipedia footnote, they don’t make a difference. The only reason Politico or anyone else is even paying any attention to the is OrangeManBad.

The New Joker Film Is Apparently Offending The Sensibilities Of Woke Ladies

Westlake Legal Group Joaquin-Phoenix-Joker-620x349 The New Joker Film Is Apparently Offending The Sensibilities Of Woke Ladies woke Joker Front Page Stories Featured Story Culture cinema cancel culture

Art, when it’s done well, can serve the same useful function as comedy: it can force society to address its absurdities head on, with prejudice and without apology. Arguably (and admittedly I haven’t seen it yet) that’s the goal of the new Joker film starring Joaquin Phoenix as the titular character. At least that’s what the trailer would have one believe, as the viewer is given the backstory of — and maybe asked to empathize with — one of the most evil villains in the comic book universe.

This kind of film comes at a good time, as the nation continues to wrestle with its disaffected young white men who find themselves so overwhelmed by God only knows what that they take up guns and randomly kill innocents while in the throes of their psychotic fugues.

Perhaps in a film like this we can collectively see a little of the societal ills that fail to stop a Joker — or, God forbid, help create him — and reflect and be moved to act a little more kindly to our fellow man once we leave the theater. That’s often the real benefit of cinema and where it acts as a force for good in the world.

Arguably, of course, it can act in the opposite direction and that’s apparently what one young lady says is why she already has a problem with the new Joker film (it’s unclear if she’s actually seen it). Because she has no patience for the story of these disaffected men and how they become what they become (otherwise known as an “origin story.”)

She’s sick of the joker.

Westlake Legal Group Joker-Facebook-post-620x670 The New Joker Film Is Apparently Offending The Sensibilities Of Woke Ladies woke Joker Front Page Stories Featured Story Culture cinema cancel culture

She isn’t sure there’s ever a good time for cinema to explore what makes men (and women) behave the way they do. She’s certainly entitled to her preference.

But exploring the human condition is literally why cinema — and pretty much every other form of high art — exists.

It would seem this young lady just doesn’t want to know what’s bad in the world. But that’s the fools’ paradise of an entitled mind.

No, she, like the character of the Joker and all the disaffected young men she likens to the character, must take the world as it is — ethereally beautiful at times and brutally dark at others — and make decisions about how they want to live, just like the rest of us.

The irony, of course, is that refusing to see both sides of life is what the Joker does, in fact. He sees only the dark after awhile. Ms. Miller, it would seem, wants to only see the light and forget the dark exists. And that, in its way, is equally disturbing.

In any event, the film has an R rating for a reason, and Ms. Miller can exercise the choice of not seeing it if it offends her so. This is not, after all, the society of “A Clockwork Orange” where her eyes will be forcibly held open to indoctrinate her into kindness.

Nor can she force anyone else to shut their eyes because she doesn’t like what they might see.

In 2017, then-ESPN commentator Jemele Hill made the news when she claimed President Trump was a white supremacist.

Well, the sports writer has a new declaration, courtesy of her inaugural piece in The Atlantic: All black athletes should leave “white colleges.”

See for yourself:

It’s strange that we seem to be going back to the 1940’s — many are deciding there are only two races: white and non-white (now “people of color”). And now Jemele wants a return to segregated schooling:

Black athletes have attracted money and attention to the predominantly white universities that showcase them. Meanwhile, black colleges are struggling. Alabama’s athletic department generated $174 million in the 2016–17 school year, whereas the HBCU that generated the most money from athletics that year, Prairie View A&M, brought in less than $18 million. Beyond sports, the average HBCU endowment is only one-eighth that of the average predominantly white school; taken together, all of the HBCU endowments combined make up less than a tenth of Harvard’s.

As for black students attending mostly-Caucasian universities, does it count for anything that America is predominantly pale?

Maybe not to Jemele.

She believes the “black professional class” needs schools that aren’t white:

Why should this matter to anyone beyond the administrators and alumni of the HBCUs themselves? Because black colleges play an important role in the creation and propagation of a black professional class. Despite constituting only 3 percent of four-year colleges in the country, HBCUs have produced 80 percent of the black judges, 50 percent of the black lawyers, 50 percent of the black doctors, 40 percent of the black engineers, 40 percent of the black members of Congress, and 13 percent of the black CEOs in America today.

It sounds as if, if a black person wants to attain success, they’ve got to avoid the mainstream.

As for the athletes, don’t the best among them land hefty NFL contracts due to their notoriety on the Big College circuit?

Either way, Jemele believes light-shaded institutions of higher learning don’t feel safe to a portion:

Some black students feel safer, both physically and emotionally, on an HBCU campus — all the more so as racial tensions have risen in recent years. Navigating a predominantly white campus as a black student can feel isolating, even for athletes.

As conveyed in her piece, basketball player Davon Dillard confided to Jemel that, at a black university, he was even able to slightly let down his guard. Here he is:

“Going to a school where most of the people are the same color as you, it’s almost like you can let your guard down a little bit. You don’t have to pretend to be somebody else. You don’t have to dress this way, or do things this way. It’s like, ‘I know you. We have the same kind of struggles. We can relate. It’s almost like you’re back at home in your neighborhood.”

What’s the bottom line? Here’s Jemele’s last paragraph:

If promising black student athletes chose to attend HBCUs in greater numbers, they would, at a minimum, bring some welcome attention and money to beleaguered black colleges, which invested in black people when there was no athletic profit to reap. More revolutionarily, perhaps they could disrupt the reign of an “amateur” sports system that uses the labor of black folks to make white folks rich.

It seems to me that we’d do better to eschew a return to the days of separate water fountains.

How about instead we move it up ’til at least the 60’s, when a man championed people being judged not by the color of their skin, but the content of their character?

Maybe one day.

As for now, some seem intent upon killing that dream.

Future President Bill DeBlasio Promises to Confiscate All Your Semi-Auto Rifles. Good News: His Bodyguards’ll Keep Theirs

Good News: His Bodyguards’ll Keep Theirs Uncategorized Tucker Carlson Politics New York City mass shootings Guns gun control Government Front Page Stories Featured Story democrats crime confiscation Bill DeBlasio Beto O'Rourke Allow Media Exception

Bill deBlasio is better than you.

Or at least, that’s the way it seems.

It’s a fairly natural conclusion, given he believes he should be the one to take wealth from the wrong people and give it to the right ones.

The free market, hard work, acumen, and luck are out. Bill’s in. He’ll decide who’s successful. He could’ve appointed you, but he’s clearly surmised he oughta lord over the country’s — or at least New York’s — financial distribution (read all about it here).

Here’s another example of his Chosen One status: On Thursday, the mayor of the Big Apple announced that, if he becomes President of the U.S., he’ll enact a federal confiscation of semi-automatic rifles.

As posed by Fox News host Tucker Carlson, courtesy of The Daily Wire:

“You have said that you’re for mandatory buybacks of semi-automatic rifles. There are tens of millions of these rifles in circulation now, and presumably some large number of people won’t feel like selling them to the government. What do you do with those people?”

Bill thinks most of you are “smart” — so you geniuses’ll give him those guns:

“We’ve got to end the availability of assault weapons in this country, so I think if there was a ban on assault weapons and there was a buyback program, the vast majority of people, I think, would do the smart thing and they would sell them back. I don’t have a specific answer for you, but I think it’s a good question.”

It should be noted that this whole idea of “assault weapons” is of the Oscar Mayer variety. Semi-automatic and/or spooky-looking rifles are long hollow tubes out of which one bullet comes with each pull of the trigger. They’re prominently used for hunting and — statistically, compared to much smaller and less ominous-looking handguns — they’re rarely employed in violent crime.

Tucker thought Bill’s idea was crazy and a great way to ignite a whooole lot of violence.

Mayor Goofy’s response:

“I’m being honest with you, I think anyone in public life should say, you know, when we think we have an answer or whether it’s something we still have to work out. What I know is this: We cannot have assault weapons in our society – we’ve seen the devastating impact, they need to be banned. And that means by definition you don’t leave millions and millions of them out there. The buyback’s the obvious approach. How we deal with someone who doesn’t want to participate in the buyback, that’s something we’ll have to resolve going forward.”

Someone he won’t have to deal with: himself.

“His” rifles’ll stay — his protective detail’s provided by officers.

He’ll have that defense; you won’t.

Therein lies the “better than you.”

More from Commandant Confiscator:

“[Government bodyguards are] sworn law enforcement officers. Sworn law enforcement officers who are here to protect all of us. Someone who serves in public office for a limited period of time, and in the society that we’re living in, and I hate to say it but public servants are vulnerable to violence in a different way. Our law enforcement officers are there to protect all of us.”

He hates to say it.

They protect “all of us.”

Or, him.

And if he becomes president, he’ll have them all his life.

You won’t.

But he may have just ensured he’ll never get the chance.

In more than one way, a far Left revolution seems to be making a break for it. Beto just championed confiscation, too.

Viewing things from the cheap seats, I’d say this is why the NRA sticks to its…guns: They know the Left will never, ever stop. So the National Rifle Association…aims…to never budge an inch.

But the mayor of New York is determined.

DeBlasio wants to be POTUS.

But it sounds more like the title of “King” fits the Bill.

This Court Ruling On Terrorism Watch List Should Spell Doom For Red Flag Laws

A federal judge ruled on Wednesday that the so-called “terror watch list,” a list of persons both citizen and non-citizen that now encompasses some 1.9 million names, is unconstitutional. The case involved 23 Muslims who happened to be American citizens. They had been placed on the watch list and their presence their greatly curtailed their ability to travel or to even open a banking account.

“There is no evidence, or contention, that any of these plaintiffs satisfy the definition of a ‘known terrorist,’ ” wrote Trenga, adding that even harmless conduct could result in someone being labeled as a “suspected terrorist” on the watch list.

“An individual’s placement into the [watch list] does not require any evidence that the person engaged in criminal activity, committed a crime, or will commit a crime in the future,” the judge wrote, “and individuals who have been acquitted of a terrorism-related crime may still be listed.”

Now, in fairness to the government, the very fact that CAIR filed the lawsuit indicates that one or more of the 23 might very well be a terrorist sympathizer as CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in two US terrorism trials, it has close ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas, and has been declared a terrorist organization by at least one nation. That unpleasantness aside, the idea that a US citizen can be, without and real due process, placed on this list and not notified and have limited ways of appealing their inclusion on the list is something that is much more akin to what the left wants to do with Trump supporters than anything common to our form of government.

If this ruling stands, however, it should spell doom for the bizarre concept of “red flag laws” that sprang, Athena-like, from the butt of some gun-grabber. Where the terrorism watch list is based on actual activities that have been validated by law enforcement and intelligence agencies and merely result in inconvenience at border crossings and in a few other instances, the red flag laws permit warnings by relatives, family members, or even random strangers based on a layman’s opinion that a US citizen might, conceivably, possibly, at some point in the future do something bad with a firearm. The result of being placed on a red flag list will result in your property being confiscated, your constitutional right to own a firearm being abridged, and there is no guarantee you will ever again be considered “normal” enough to ever be removed from the list.

My gut feeling is that as we move away from the recent spate of mass shootings that the demand that we “do something” will die down. But if it doesn’t then there is now a basis for a legal challenge to the thoroughly un-American concept of “red flag laws.”

Yesterday, I wrote about “View” co-host Meghan McCain’s comments on 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke’s gun confiscation plan.

To recap, McCain told her fellow co-hosts Tuesday during a discussion of O’Rourke’s plan that she was not going to give up her guns, and that his call to forcibly confiscate weapons would lead to violence:

“This is a ground-level issue for me,” she said, targeting 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke’s mandatory buyback plan. “If you’re going to be a gun-grabber, you don’t get my vote, period. We got to have a different conversation.”

Longtime host Joy Behar brought up the federal assault weapons ban in 1994 under former President Bill Clinton. “If you keeping rooting for Republicans, you’re going to get nothing done.”

“The AR-15 is by far the most popular gun in America, by far,” McCain said. “I was just in the middle of nowhere Wyoming, if you’re talking about taking people’s guns from them, there’s going to be a lot of violence.”

“But they lived without them for many years during the ban,” Behar replied.

“I’m not living without guns,” McCain responded. “It’s just that simple!”

McCain’s reality-based comments upset a lot of The Usual SuspectsWestlake Legal Group 2122 Beto Falsely Accuses Meghan McCain of Encouraging Gun Violence After She Criticized His Gun Confiscation Plan The View Social Media republicans Politics North Carolina Meghan McCain Media mass shootings Guns gun rights gun control Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story Featured Post elections democrats Culture crime Campaigns Beto O'Rourke beto Allow Media Exception 2A 2020 Elections 2020 , including failed presidential candidate and Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), who lied about McCain’s position by saying she “threatened violence.”

Failing presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke responded to McCain’s remarks about his plan by doing what liberals like he, Swalwell and others typically do when they have no legitimate response to fight back with: Accuse their critics of incitement. Here’s what he told the Daily Beast:

“I just I think that kind of language and rhetoric is not helpful,” the former congressman told The Daily Beast prior to joining a Wednesday marathon climate town hall on CNN. “It becomes self-fulfilling; you have people on TV who are almost giving you permission to be violent and saying, ‘You know this is this is going to happen.’”

O’Rourke brought up McCain’s name unprompted after “The View” host had said, earlier this week, that an attempt by the government to compel AR-15 owners to sell back their weapons would prompt “a lot of violence.”

“When someone says, “If you do this, then this will happen,” O’Rourke said, “almost as though that’s a natural response or maybe even something that should happen or deserves to happen.

Twitter users were not having his nonsense and gave him a much-needed reality check:

McCain herself responded to Beto’s false accusations:

Charles C.W. Cooke spells it out for O’Rourke and the anti-Meghan McCain social media mobs

There are just two types of people engaging in this debate: People who know that Meghan McCain is correct, and people who are pretending that they do not know that Meghan McCain is correct. It doesn’t not especially matter what your politics are, or what you think of private gun ownership in the United States. It does not matter, either, whether you want Meghan McCain to be right or you want her to be wrong. If you have read any American history at all, you know that, as a matter of dull, neutral fact, McCain is correct.

Second Amendment activist Stephen Gutowski made the same point in the immediate aftermath of her comments as the condemnations from leftists were rolling in Tuesday:

Beto O’Rourke and other demagoguing leftists are entitled to their own opinions, but they are most certainly not entitled to their own facts.

Messing said “the public has a right to know” and McCormack seemingly suggested a sort of blacklist, saying the attendee list should be released so “we know who we want to work with.” Debra and Erick, I have some advice for you.

Widen your circles.

You see, your level of outrage directly correlates to the level of your social isolation. People who have a diverse group of friends may feel disdain or even hatred for the man in the White House, but they don’t feel like everyone who doesn’t think like them is an enemy. That’s because they can look at the people they’ve cultivated relationships with and see that despite their differences those people are neighbors, not adversaries.

I’m going to crib this thought from my friend Kristy Swanson and tell you that if you two didn’t live in such a bubble you wouldn’t even a need a list because you’d already know who they were.

It is hysterical that you seem to think you don’t already work with Republicans, don’t already interact daily with Trump supporters. The walls of your bubble are so thick you don’t even question for one moment that your politics aren’t shared by everyone. You feel free to talk to everyone around you as if they already agree with you. If you’d ever stopped to really get to know a wider range of people you might have discovered there are quite a few who don’t.

Not only that, those people aren’t the monsters and bigots you’ve imagined them to be but most likely hard-working, caring people. You probably already think some of them are hardworking, caring people…you just don’t know they’re Republicans.

You may be saying right about now, “I’m standing for justice and righteousness so if that’s a bubble, I’m all for it!”, but let me posit this to you. People who deliberately and self-righteously close their ranks in the name of justice typically end up being bigots. It’s what marks white supremacists. It’s what marks you, too.

But this isn’t just advice for you, Debra and Erick.  This is advice for every adult out there. We should all be at least willing to expand our circles. There is a comfort in intimately knowing people who challenge your ideas and make you angry. It conditions you to understand that differences can be overcome. It prepares you for the myriad of trying relationships you will have in your life, be it work, family or otherwise. It softens you.

You don’t have to change your mind about your ideas. You just have to be willing to change your mind about your neighbors. You just have to decide that everyone has something interesting and positive to offer you, until they prove otherwise.

Don’t live the rest of your lives so narrowly focused on this one man in this one time that you miss all the good people around you. Open your mind a bit, and maybe even your heart. Lead with curiosity rather than rage and see how it changes your view of those you think you could never love.

Debra, Erick…get out of that bubble. You guys must be smothering to death in there

Media Try to Cancel Drew Brees Over Religious Beliefs

One of the most upstanding people to ever play in the NFL is currently under assault.

His grave sin? Appearing in a video connected to Focus on the Family, that supposed horrible hate group that (gasp!) promotes family values and church going. They also support traditional marriage, so they must be ostracized and put on lists by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

In the video, Brees (a Christian) simply encouraged students to take their bibles to school and live their faith. Contrary to popular liberal belief, that is in fact completely legal.

This led to heads exploding.

Deadspin, which is owned by Ted Cruz, went with a ridiculous story called Drew Brees Appears In Video for Gay Conversion Therapy Sickos, Doesn’t Understand What the Big Deal Is.

Last week, New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees appeared in a brief video promoting “Bring Your Bible To School Day,” which, whatever. In itself, it’s probably a 3 on the scale of odd things an athlete can do with his free time. What’s actually frustrating—though frankly not too surprising—is Brees did the promo for Focus On The Family, which puts on the Bible Day and publishes the website that Brees’s video directed viewers to.

The horror.

Here’s a local New Orleans reporter asserting Brees is “problematic.” That’ll go over like a lead balloon in a city that loves him.

Then you had people just absolutely losing their minds, such as this blue check mark “journalist.”

I’m going to go out on a limb here and suggest Brees has a job in the NFL because he’s one of the five best QBs to ever play the game and will own nearly every major record by the time he retires. The reflexive bringing up of Kaepernick by political activists who obviously haven’t the slightest idea about football is always amusing.

Former teammate Reggie Bush came to Brees’ defense.

This is all so stupid.

Whether one believes in traditional marriage or not (and as far as I know, Brees himself is pro-LGBT on that issue), the idea that you can never be connected to a group as mundane as Focus on the Family now is ludicrous. It shows just how badly conservatives have lost the culture war on this issue. It’s one thing to argue people can have different beliefs. It’s another to assert that certain people can’t hold their beliefs at all, and in the case of Christians who believe in traditional marriage, that’s simply not allowed anymore in the public sphere.

Brees will be fine, but this does show the brazenness with which cancel culture is operating. No one is off limits, not even for the smallest perceived “offense,” and you will be made to kneel or suffer the consequences. It didn’t matter that Brees is beloved in his city, is a philanthropist, and has always treated everyone with respect. A single video and they were after him.

I don’t know what the the solution to this is. I do know we can’t exist as a society in perpetuity operating this way.
