Pandering is a brutal thing to watch. And as 2020 looms, Democratic hopefuls are increasingly working to outwoke one another.

In the skirmish, we’re sure to see what will appear as goofballs making more and more absurd statements about illegal immigration, given the Dem platform going the way of no borders to the United States of America.

Buckle up for buffoonery.

“Illegal immigrants are good.” “What?! They’re GREAT!” “I think illegal immigrants are the best!” “They’re what America wants!” “Wants?! No, needs!” “They’re better than Oreos!” “No, they’re better than double-stuffed Oreos!” “How dare you?! They’re better than 500 double-stuffed Oreos!” “They’re better than a million-gajillion triple-stuffed Oreos!”

I can’t fully express my disappointment to have grown up only to find that adults’ behavior is far, far, far more stupid than I ever could’ve imagined.

And in politics, it’s especially difficult to take in.

The ether often seems nothing but hot air, a cosmic fart from all the disingenuous absurdity from people posing and postulating preposterous premises.

Right now, Joe Biden appears determined to transform himself from an old man born in 1942 with a history of saying triggering, “problematic” things to an AOC-style, dumber-but-hipper revolutionary.

At some point, is he going to have a moment of clarity not unlike the middle-aged man who suddenly realizes that — in an attempt to be stylish — he’s dressed like a 15-year-old and looks ridiculous?

We’ll see.

For now, he’s out on the trail sportin’ an H&M hoodie and some Adidas Yeezy’s.

And on Thursday, Obama’s former right-hand man argued that Congress must grant legal status to millions who sneaked into the country as minors. The reason: They’re “more American” — not even just as American — than many kids who are actually Americans.

In his own words:

“We have to find a pathway for DREAMers. You know DREAMers? I love people that say ‘Let’s send them back.’ Can you imagine you’re four years old, your mom says you’re crossing the Rio Grande, and you say, ‘No mom, I don’t want to go, we’re going to stay here’? Come on. Come on.”

Here’s the forced oddity:

“And these kids who come — and they end up doing well — they become Americans before a lot of Americans become Americans.”

Kind of an overreach, Joe. You strained so hard, you ceased to make sense. Maybe just loosen your grip a hair.

“No, I’m serious, they get in school, they do well, they contribute to the community, they contribute to the country.”

Joe laid out his plan:

“Number one: We legalize the DREAMers. Number two: I would send, immediately, an amendment to the desk of the United States Senate and the House of Representatives — a bill to the desk — that said the following: We have to find a pathway to citizenship, earned citizenship, for the 11 million undocumented. Thirdly, the idea that we are changing our nature as a people by not allowing the notion of people seeking asylum here — what’s that Statue of Liberty all about? It’s about asylum. And the idea that I would be surging asylum judges to the border to make sure these people had hearings.”

Biden also insisted border detention centers aren’t necessary:

“We don’t need them. We found that when we were in office, in fact, if you decided we finally got things under control, we finally said if you have to report back for a hearing on such-and-such a date, people show up.”

There is at least some evidence that isn’t true.

As reported by The Daily Wire:

[A]cting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kevin McAleenan recently rebuked that claim while testifying in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee in June. During the committee hearing, McAleenan revealed that 90% of recent asylum seekers have skipped their court hearings.

Biden’s focused, fired up, and he’s bustin’ into the saloon with both guns blazin’.

He’s a cowboy.

Will he snag the nomination?

Or will he be stopped by that American Indian, Elizabeth Warren?

It’s gonna be a heck of a showdown.

When severe weather events are fast approaching land and threatening hundreds of thousands of lives, the last thing on any decent person’s mind is rooting for property destruction as a way of political revenge.

Unfortunately, former Canadian Prime Minister Kim Campbell is not one of those decent people.

Alex Parker wrote earlier this week about a tweet Campbell posted on Wednesday in response to another tweet that labeled Hurricane Dorian as a “#majorhurricane threat” to Florida’s east coast, and to President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort. Here’s what Campbell, an apparent Trump Derangement Sufferer, said:

Though it’s been a long time since Campbell was Canada’s PM (1993), she still plays a very active role in Canadian politics at the highest levels:

Ms. Campbell has chaired the Independent Advisory Board on Supreme Court appointments since 2016. The panel of legal scholars is tasked with recommending potential candidates for seats on the Supreme Court to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Campbell, who was the Prime Minister for only 132 days, later clarified on Thursday that she didn’t actually want anyone at the Palm Beach resort to get hurt (thank goodness). But she still took the opportunity to blame Trump for the hurricane itself because of course:

She also initially told her critics to “get a grip”:

Fortunately her original tweet was screencapped because Campbell deleted it Friday morning with this explanation:

“I …sincerely apologize to all it offended” = not an actual apology.

Actor Allen Covert was one of the more high-profile Twitter users to blast Campbell’s comments:

As of this writing, here’s the latest projected path for Dorian:

As the arrival of the infamous fall flavoring is here WaPo manages to find reasons why it is something to be shamed.

If you have frequented social media at all in the past week or so you have probably been alerted to the arrival of products on the market infused with the seasonal flavor matrix known as “Pumpkin Spice”. This becomes one of those pedantic arguments that flare up in threads, with ardent supporters of the flavoring battling people with little substance who are unreasonably angered by a new product that is not a compulsory purchase.

Personally, I see the new selections of pumpkin-flavored beers sprouting up in coolers this time of year, and I steer clear. Having sampled this style in the past I have never once felt gratitude for doing so, nor been inspired to open a second bottle. But when I now see them I do fly off in an enraged tirade of opposition; I simply choose a different label to imbibe.

But now, as if the imbalanced social conflict over flavored coffee potions is not infantile enough, the Washington Post has arrived to further cast this herbal conflict into a deepening rift. It turns out, as the paper is reading history, that your Halloween-themed latte is the product of intolerance and you are tacitly supporting genocide.

But underneath those fuzzy-sweater vibes, the spices in “the PSL” have a dark history. Particularly nutmeg. It’s a story of war, genocide and slavery.

Yes, we are now entering the realm where soccer moms and frenzied secretaries who are ordering these drinks from Starbucks can be declared hate-filled proponents of ethnic-cleansing or some such. Beginning circa the 1400s, in what is modern-day Indonesia, a series of islands produced nutmeg that fed the growing global spice trade. Then the Europeans showed up and screwed up the process. The Portuguese came and muscled in for about a century, then others wanted in on the action in a fashion not unlike contemporary drug lords.

The Dutch showed up in 1599, and everything got gruesome soon afterward. They seized the islands, built a fort and informed the Bandanese they were no longer allowed to trade with anyone else, according to historian Vincent C. Loth.

This led to a number of violent skirmishes between the Dutch and the Bandanese, Loth wrote. Then in 1621, Dutch Governor-General Jan Pieterszoon Coen led 2,000 troops on an assault on the Bandanese. Their leaders were beheaded, and the wealthy were enslaved and sent overseas. The remaining inhabitants fled into the mountains, where, over the following months, nearly all met one of three fates: They were murdered in Dutch attacks, starved to death, or jumped off cliffs in despair.

In the interest of full disclosure, this writer is of Dutch lineage. (All complaints of inherent hatred and crass appropriation should be sent to the editors.)

I believe now it is evident for all to see that anyone who dares purchase these seasonal caffeine delivery systems, or bastardized variations of zymurgy formulas, is actually supporting the very violent acts that we are trying to curtail. Look at the closing factoid provided by The Post.

In a bid to end a skirmish with English claimants to the nutmeg harvest the Dutch turned over another island as compensation. The English then redubbed New Amsterdam as Manhattan, and now nearly 250 Starbucks are located therein. So all of those pumpkin potables that are purchased are funneling money directly in support of that murderous trade.

You should be properly shamed for your genocidal frappes, as WaPo has positioned things.

Pharma Regulations Bite Worse Than Snakes

Overregulation is killing competition in the pharmaceutical industry. Rather than letting markets work, companies are essentially allowed monopolies that drive prices to astronomical heights. Take anti-venin for example. Chances are you’re not going to be bitten by a poisonous snake or scorpion but, if you are, that’s just the first bite. The next one is out of your wallet.

Here’s how it works. You get bitten, you go to the hospital because you don’t want to die. You are injected with 4-6 vials of  CroFab (the recommended starting dose), and it saves your life with few of the side effects that used to plague anti-venins. Then you get the bill. It turns out that the wholesale price for that medicine is more than $3,000 per vial. Once they get enough in you to save your life and you pay the consumer price? Let’s hope you aren’t stuck with a price tag of nearly $68,000. It’s happened before.

It should be good news for bite victims, then that there’s something new on the market- Anavip.However, pharmaceutical regulations are such that competition isn’t likely to bring the prices down significantly. Anavip seems less expensive at $1,220 per vial but, with a recommended initial dose of 10 vials, the price is pretty equal.

Robin Feldman, a professor at University of California, Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco, who specializes in pharmacy law told NPR “When we allow a system of perverse incentives to flourish, this is the result we get.” It’s the generic drugs which really bring down drug prices, and bureaucracy is making it just about impossible for anti-venins to enter that market.

NPR reports:

In the U.S., even when the FDA approves another drug, the maker can manipulate the patent process to keep competitors out. A patent allows a drug manufacturer to claim ownership of certain product information and bar others from making, using or selling a drug based on the protected content for 20 years. This gives manufacturers a powerful edge – they can sue potential competitors for patent infringement.

“The most creative activity in the drug company should be in the lab, not in the legal department” says Hastings law professor Feldman, paraphrasing a former FDA commissioner.

One solution? The 340B medical drug pricing plan which provides life-saving medications cheaper for lower-income Americans at no cost to taxpayers. At Banner Health in Arizona, scorpion bites are more common than in other parts of the country, and their 340B pricing program saves lives without breaking the bank.

Page Smith, director of Banner’s 340B program, explains:

MSNBC’s Chris Hayes Shockingly Makes the Case For the Census Counting Citizens

Westlake Legal Group chris-hayes-620x317 MSNBC’s Chris Hayes Shockingly Makes the Case For the Census Counting Citizens reapportionment Politics MSNBC Media immigration Front Page Stories Featured Story electoral college democrats Citizenship Question Chris Hayes census Allow Media Exception

To the best of my knowledge and belief, no one has ever accused MSNBC’s Chris Hayes of being smart. I’m not saying that it hasn’t happened at sometime in the past but it certainly hasn’t happened recently. Yesterday, his own show released this clip of Hayes lecturing an audience on the constitutionality of the Electoral College. Here he is assuming his past persona as an adjunct professor (which is basically like being an Uber driver for unemployed pseudo-academics0.

I think there’s actually a deeper philosophical thing happening of what is American democracy is for. And the weirdest thing about the Electoral College is the fact if it wasn’t specifically in the Constitution [dramatic splayed finger gesture pointing towards the heavens] for the presidency, it would be unconstitutional.

Huh? Do you know what, if the 13th Amendment wasn’t in the Constitution, it would be unconstitutional as was the case before it was passed. What kind of faux insight is this. The sad thing is that Hayes is thinking he’s making a deep point and one must presume anyone stupid enough to want to be in Hayes’s studio audience was suitably impressed and went away muttering this nugget to themselves. I’ll probably see it on twitter a few hundred times today.

What he misses is the obvious: people don’t elect the president, states elect the president. The Electoral College was how small states, like Delaware and Connecticut, were convinced to join the union. Without it, the nation as it has existed since 1787 ceases to exist and becomes something entirely different.

Let’s move away from his jihad against the Electoral College and focus on the second part.

Here’s what I mean by that. Starting in the 1960s, 1961, specifically, the Supreme Court started developing a jurisprudence of [dramatic index finger gesture] “one person, one vote.” The idea is that each individual vote has to carry roughly the same amount of weight as each other individual vote. Which was a pretty intuitive concept but it was not a reality. There were all sorts of crazy representational systems that were created that would not give one person one vote and would disenfranchise certain minorities…you can guess which one [knowing titter from the studio audience…you are just so clever Chris].

Here’s an example. Let’s say you’ve got a city, it’s 60% black and it’s 40% white, okay. Here’s how you ensure white people stay in charge. Divide the city into four voting districts, right? But you put the entire black population in one district. Sixty percent of the people. And then each district elects one city council member. Voila. And now a city council for a majority black city is run by a majority white government.

Let’s take a look at that statement about the weight of votes. He’s right. And where, right now, do you find Americans being disenfranchised in much the same way that he uses in his city council example? Anywhere there are large numbers of illegals. Because if you live in a district that is 100% citizen your vote is literally worth half as much as a vote of someone living in a district where half the voters are illegals. That is how an illegal-heavy metropolis like Los Angeles or Dallas or Chicago or Miami can dominate state politics because their electoral power is exaggerated by having congressional districts formed based on total people, not total voters.

In other words, by counting bodies and not citizens what happens is that citizens become the black voters in Hayes’s example. They are all packed into one district. Three other districts, composed of mostly non-citizens have representatives elected with only about 13% of the total voting population. To get an idea of what that looks like nationwide, take a look at this map.

Inadvertently, Chris Hayes made the case for why the US government should count citizens and why congressional seats should be apportioned based on them.

In a one-on-one war of words between conservative talk show host/political commentator/author Dana Loesch and disgraced attorney Michael Avenatti, my money would be on Loesch every time.

Loesch was on the Twitter machine Thursday reading CNN the riot act over media firefighters Brian Stelter and Oliver Darcy suggesting that Trump criticizing NY Times columnist Bret Stephens over his bedbug insult overreaction was part of a broader Trump “war” on the press:

Loesch then noted that CNN had been waging a war of its own – against Trump and his supporters over non-issues and by way of inviting on unhinged guests:

After continuing on in a few more tweets with examples, Loesch concluded by shaming CNN for elevating Avenatti for months as a heroic ResistanceWestlake Legal Group 2122 Dana Loesch Levels Michael Avenatti in Back and Forth Over His Porn Star Lawyer Status, Mounting Legal Troubles Social Media republicans Politics North Carolina Michael Avenatti Media journalism Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story Featured Post democrats Dana Loesch Culture CNN Allow Media Exception leader when it was obvious that he was a fraudster who was exploiting Daniels to score political points with the Woke Mafia in advance of a rumored presidential bid:

Avenatti got his feelings hurt and lashed out:

Loesch clapped back that he had to have used the search terms “porn lawyer” to find her tweet, which he denied while throwing another weak jab about the NRA:

Loesch then absolutely torched Avenatti with a finishing move for the ages:

“You can go shave your back now.” SICK BURN. #Boom

His response was pathetic, but by that point Loesch was done with him and had moved on:

Poor Michael Avenatti just can’t get any respect. The world’s smallest violin is playing for you, buddy. Bless your heart.

Here’s the Best Example Yet of Why Red Flag Laws Are a Terrible Idea

Westlake Legal Group street-car-night-driving-city-urban-569308-pxhere.com_-620x414 Here’s the Best Example Yet of Why Red Flag Laws Are a Terrible Idea Rights Infringed red flag laws Politics Pennsylvania NBC News media bias Guns Grenades Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story Confiscated 2nd Amendment

If you want the best example yet of why conservatives pushing red flag laws are wrong, here you go.

A man’s son called the police on him, citing he thought his father might be suicidal. Without any due process at all, the police showed up, confiscated his entire firearms collection, and hospitalized him (likely for evaluation). NBC News ran with the story, painting with their headlines the idea that he was a mass shooter in waiting. There’s absolutely no evidence of that nor does their appear to even be any evidence he was actually suicidal.

Police who were responding to a report of a suicidal man Wednesday discovered a cache of weapons which included firearms, grenades and ammunition inside the man’s home.

The 72-year-old man, who was not identified, was reported to police by his son who feared for his father’s wellbeing and told officers that there were firearms inside the home, Lieutenant Dennis Rosenbaum of the Philadelphia Police Department said Thursday.

Officers discovered what appeared to be a grenade after the man’s son asked police to remove his father’s weapons from the home, Rosenbaum said. Bomb squad experts who were called to the scene found that the grenade was inactive.

Here were some of the tweets NBC sent out.

In reality, the man was simply a collector. Many of his guns were historical pieces from world wars. The “grenades” NBC News touts in their headline were all inactive, except for one smoke grenade which is legal to own.

There’s a lot of parts to object to regarding how this went down.

The first is the media angle. Why are they even reporting this when he’s been charged with no crime? How is it newsworthy and how does it accomplish anything but smearing gun owners? If the only point is to paint a negative perception of those who have gun collections, mission accomplished I guess.

The law enforcement aspect of this is far more important though.

A single phone call and a man’s entire collection is confiscated? There was no hearing, no judge, no due process at all. The police got one call and took it upon themselves to seize everything. Now the police have the right to “deem” weapons unsafe and not return them. This seems like a pretty big violation of the 4th amendment.

Police also don’t seem very keen to give the weapons back, requiring a petition, which the man’s family don’t seem to want to do. But why is it their decision? They say they don’t want them to “wind up in the wrong hands but how would that happen? I’m trying to avoid making assumptions about their politics but the language being used here is a dead giveaway.

His family has the right to petition for the weapons, which have been put into storage. If not, or if the police deem the weapons unsafe, they will be destroyed and melted down after a certain period of time.

“I don’t think they’re going to be trying to get the weapons back,” Rosenbaum said. “I’ve talked to the family today as of an hour ago and they just don’t want them to wind up in the wrong hands. They seem to be very nice people.”

It should also be noted that Philadelphia’s police chief is an outspoken Democrat and proponent for gun control. It’s no coincidence that this happened in his jurisdiction.

There’s a not insignificant number of conservatives, led by National Review’s David French, that think red flag laws on a national level are a great idea and have been pushing them in the wake of the most recent mass shootings. They are an awful idea and no one that respect constitutional governance should be promoting them.

I get the temptation. Conservatives want to imagine police as non-political entities who will always do the right thing but they aren’t. In many parts of the country, the leadership of police departments are just as liberal as the local mayors and city councils. They can not be trusted to not allow politics to encroach on decisions of confiscation.

Even if this man was truly suicidal (again, there’s no evidence of that yet), the police had no right to go in and take his weapons out of his house. At best, they should have detained the man, got him an evaluation, and allowed him a chance to plead his case. Now that they’ve taken the weapons into their possession, he’ll never see them again. This is not how things are supposed to work in this country and shame on some conservatives for pushing this garbage.

What in the world kind of chaotic insanity is going on in California?

On Thursday, at least 100 young people got into a gigantic fight near Stockton’s Stagg High School.

It was madness the likes of which you may never have seen before.

Police and paramedics rushed to the scene.

What the heck happened??

CBS Sacramento described the “wild scene,” which occurred around 12:30 and “spilled off-campus.”

Both guys and girls appeared to be running around like hooligans, with some of the fights nearing moving cars.

A woman named Theresa Saunders caught video of the wacko battle royal.

She said of the blowup:

“This one went from boom, boom, boom, boom, all these different fights. It’s like, what happened in school? Was it a day to get revenge for each other?”

Stagg High parent Marquita Miles was flabbergasted:

“I just don’t understand the kids nowadays, it’s like they just fighting. They should all get along. I’m hearing too much violence out here.”

On Thursday evening, Stockton Unified School District sent an email to parents informing them of the brawl and its related “ongoing investigation.”

“As with all matters of student safety,” district spokesperson Shelly Spessard assured in a statement, “we have taken this very seriously and have and will act accordingly. Safety and security is a top priority in Stockton Unified.”

At least one person was arrested.

Check out the video for a showcase of total lunacy.

Just a few days ago, I wrote about an absurd “fact check” done by the geniuses at Politifact on Joe Biden and his repeated claim that President Trump had never denounced white supremacists David Duke and Robert Spencer.

As I noted at the time, Biden’s claim should have been rated “pants on fire” false because Trump had done both, but it was only given a “mostly false” by Politifact because Trump had never mentioned Spencer by name and because of Trump’s comments about the Charlottesville riots (which they wrongly mischaracterized).

Unfortunately, it’s not the first time they’ve gone to bat for the Democratic presidential frontrunner this month. They also wrote about a photo that has been circulating on Facebook of Biden and the late Sen. Robert Byrd. Here’s the photo:

Thoughts?

After noting that the photo, taken in October 2008, was authentic, here’s what they ruled (bolded emphasis added):

The Facebook post claims that Joe Biden was photographed with Robert Byrd, Grand Wizard of the KKK. That exaggerates Byrd’s role in the KKK.

In the 1940s, Byrd organized and led a local Klan chapter as its Exalted Cyclops, but he wasn’t a Grand Wizard. And he ultimately renounced his views from that period of his life though his past and former ties to the KKK were raised throughout the rest of his life.

By the time this photo of Byrd and Biden was taken, Byrd’s public expressions of regret and shame over his earlier involvement in the KKK was well-documented and often-repeated.

We rate this Facebook post Mostly False.

What they didn’t note was that as of 2001, though Byrd was no longer a member of the KKK he was still using the “n” word.

What is true is that Democrats started the KKK. What is true is that Democrats opposed civil rights legislation for black people up until the late 1960s. What is true is that Biden considered Byrd a friend.

It doesn’t make Biden a racist, of course, but what they fact checked is whether or not Byrd was as high up in the KKK as a Grand Wizard, which is an irrelevant distinction in the scheme of things as it relates to his involvement and praise of the racist group.

It’s almost as if they were insinuating that even if Byrd were still a member of the KKK, he didn’t rise to the level of Grand Wizard, which would mean Biden’s relationship wit him was not as shocking as it might have seemed or something.

Crazy.

The Leftist media is full of dire warnings about another potential four years of a Trump presidency.  It was a surprise (of sorts) when Trump won the presidency in 2016.  This writer had no intention of following the returns assuming a Clinton victory.  It was about 1:00 am when a liberal friend texted me: “What the hell is happening?”  I then checked the returns and thought, “Holy s@!%!!! Trump is going to win.”

Part of the surprise was that 2016 was unlike any campaign I had experienced and watched.  From the first of several Republican debates which were amusing and strange on many levels (people comparing hand size?) to the debates between Trump and Clinton, it was a surreal political experience.  After he won, there were dire predictions all around.  The mood of the non-Trump supporter was clearly one of grief.

However, unlike the dopes on the Left and the bigger dopes in the NeverTrump movement, this writer did not experience any grief over Trump’s election victory.  Instead, it was  “give him a chance and wait and see.”  Unlike others, there was no grief or anger.  But within three days of his election, the grief had turned into anger.  While the Democrat Party institution did the soul-searching aspect of the five stages of grief- “bargaining-” it was superficial.  The “what if” and “if only” scenarios boiled down to one distinct truism (which many still deny): Hillary Clinton was an unlikeable candidate who ran a horrible campaign by neglecting key Upper Midwestern states (Michigan and Wisconsin) and Pennsylvania.

To read the Leftist media (and mainstream, but they are very often the same), they appear to be in the depression stage of grief.  A recent article in the New Republic stated that surveys by the American Psychiatric Society “…have found a marked increase in stress and anxiety among respondents with regard to the future in recent years…”  That article cited another poll indicating that respondents said 2017 was the lowest point in living American history.  They even linked to an article arguing that Trump’s election led to an increase of stress-related premature births.  Good grief!

Since a day after Trump’s election in 2016, we have been bombarded with nothing but negativity regarding the duly elected President.  The better half of his term was a plethora of smoking gun accusations about Russian collusion that turned out to be duds.  They were such duds that even their anointed saint, Robert Mueller, said there was no collusion, conspiracy, or coordination with Russians.  Of course, that has not stopped Jerrold Nadler and House Democrats from engaging in what amounts to harassment in the name of “oversight.”

A woman gets killed in Charlottesville by a whack job who deserves the death penalty: Trump’s fault.  A mass shooting in El Paso: Trump’s fault.  The stock market declines 800 points: Trump’s fault.  Never before have so many unrelated events that any president has absolutely no control over been attributed to Trump.  NOAA recently announced that the current summer (which is not over yet) has been the hottest on record.  One supposes that it all Trump’s fault.

Today we have candidates on the Democrat campaign trail talking about 2020 being an election of extreme importance.  It is, they claim, an election for the soul of the country.  Take all those dire warnings and predictions the talking head pundits claimed would happen to start back in December 2016, put them in a blender, add some steroids and you will understand what they are talking about when it comes to 2020.

Meanwhile, many Americans living in the real world, it is life as usual- political and otherwise.  Trump has not ordered the military to surround the Capitol Building and dissolve Congress.  Crazies like The Squad will likely be voted back into Congress come 2020.  Despite depictions to the contrary, roving bands of brown-shirted white supremacists are not systematically taking out “people of color” and being egged on by Trump.  The earth is not going to implode in 11 years and counting if Trump is reelected.  NATO is no nearer to dissolution than it was ten years ago.

It would be an understatement to state that the Democrats are wary of Trump’s reelection.  They will ramp up the rhetoric and trot out every anecdotal sob story to prove a point.  The one thing they will also do is resort to one of two things as “policy suggestions.”  The first is that they will be radical in their approaches best exemplified by “free” everything from birth to death.  Eventually, they will run into the reality that nothing is truly free without great sacrifice.  When people realize they are losing more of their net pay in exchange for substandard health care, reality will set in.  When people realize they are paying more to heat their homes in the winter, their utility bill will be a new reality.  And the list goes on.  This is the attitude of hardcore socialists like Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and Kamala Harris.

Then we have the second option: return to failed policies with suggested tweaks.  These are the candidates often described as “moderates” and exemplified by people like Joe Biden.  The mere fact that he is the front runner should be a warning to Democrats that the hard-core socialists have no chance against Trump in 2020 when it gets down to brass tacks.  That is why despite his gaffes and memory lapses on the campaign trail, he still leads in polls among Democrats.  For them, it is another “hold your nose vote for Biden” scenario.

The election of 2020 is not existential.  One NBC pundit claimed that a recession is necessary to save the Constitution from another four years of Trump.  But what exactly has Trump done to offend the Constitution?  Which of the many court decrees did the Trump administration defy (which frustrates many of us on the Right)?  Are they referring to ICE agents actually doing their jobs?  What they really complain about is Trump not adopting their agenda and thankfully so.

From day 1, Trump was never given the benefit of the doubt.  The first few months were greeted by weekly marches and protests in the streets of Washington.  Every utterance has been parsed, taken out of context and distorted to fit a preferred narrative.  When Trump, for example, speaks out against racism, it is either not good enough or fluffed off as “too little too late,” or “he really doesn’t mean it.”

To the extent that this is an existential election as the Democrats claim, they may just be projecting their own feelings onto America at large.  They- not the country- are fearful of another four years of Trump because he is not your typical run-of-the-mill politician.  He has a job to return to.  Harris, Warren, and Sanders have the Senate, but what does Biden have to return to other than the lecture circuit?  If Trump wins in 2020, he does not have to worry about 2024 (although Democrats will tell you Trump will rewrite the Constitution all by himself allowing a third term).  Everything they feared in 2016 will be amplified in 2021.

Making America great (again) is not a 4-year task, especially after eight years of Obama who managed to bow before Saudi kings, sell-out Israel with the Iran nuclear accords, kick the “China problem” down the road with rhetoric, and disrupt the healthcare market with Obamacare.  That is the America even the so-called “moderate Democrats”  wish for.  Without the worry of a reelection campaign, perhaps then Trump will tell liberal courts to pound sand.  Perhaps then he will push even further on a conservative agenda, although he has done a fairly good job thus far regarding the pro-life movement, deregulation and immigration enforcement despite the legal warfare being waged on the Left.  Another four years of Trump neutering the Left in rhetoric and in the courts is what they most fear.  All the fears, worries and existential angst lies in the small minds of Democrats and the Left at large.
