Disabled Woman Tweets Epic Thread Demonstrating the Absurdity of Plastic Straw Bans – and Her Rant Goes Viral

Do you know anyone – or have you ever met anyone – who is in favor of plastic straw bans?

My experiences are anecdotal, to be sure, but I don’t know nor have I ever met a single person who is okay with them. Though some seem resigned to the inevitability of it happening in their city and/or state on down the road, they’re still not crazy about the idea. Seems invasive. Unnecessary.

Yesterday on Twitter, a user by the name of “moe” tweeted a lengthy rant on trying to obtain a plastic straw at a restaurant she was at with her dad Thursday morning, and how humiliating the experience was for her. Here’s what she said happened:

She also tweeted a graphic demonstrating why single-use plastic straws are the best option for many disabled individuals. Apparently environmentalists came after her, because in the next couple of tweets she clapped back regarding her green habits:

Read the full thread, unrolled, here. As of this writing, the first tweet in the thread has gotten nearly 18,000 retweets and close to 70,000 likes.

I assume the restaurant in question was either following some city or state law about plastic straw use in restaurants, or had their own individual policy on the matter.

Either way, there are a number of things wrong here.

1) No one should have to beg for a plastic straw in a dining establishment. No one.

2) A disabled person should not have to “prove” their disability in order to obtain a plastic straw. Period.

3) People should not have to carry their own personal “straw stash” with them to restaurants. It’s ridiculous.

4) Assuming someone doesn’t care about the environment simply because they prefer to use plastic straws is absurd.

There are many reasons why plastic straw bans are unnecessary. “Moe” tweeted a big one. Another big reason why is the fact that plastic straws only make up a super, duper tiny percentage of the plastic that is actually out there in the environment:

The concern most often cited is the problem of pollution. But plastic pollution represents only a small fraction of all litter, and plastic straws comprise only a small fraction of plastic. A Bloomberg estimate suggests that if every single plastic straw discarded on a beach were swept into the sea all at once, those straws would represent 0.3 percent of all ocean plastic pollution in a year. If cities want to attack pollution, there are far more meaningful efforts that could be undertaken. Of plastic waste that moves from land to ocean, the United States accounts for only 0.9 percent worldwide, according to the International Solid Waste Association. The top five offenders are China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Sri Lanka, which together account for 54.5 percent of mismanaged plastic waste globally. The problem is not in Seattle.

Ultimately, the environmentalist left’s straw bans are little more than virtue signaling on steroids. The government-mandated bans are an unnecessary inconvenience, especially for the disabled.

Free the plastic straws!

Ben Rhodes, CNN and Others Purposely Fuel Pro-Iranian “False Flag” Conspiracy Theories After Tanker Attacks

Screengrab from https://www.washingtonpost.com/video/c/embed/fd11b6ef-1b58-41f2-87b2-875b602f09fa

Yesterday, I covered a tweet sent out by The Washington Post’s Beirut Bureau Chief in which she seemingly blamed President Trump for Iran’s recent aggression.

This comes in the wake of Iran attacking two tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.

There’s a lot wrong with that description, starting with the idea that we should “heed” warnings from a rogue state. You can read the full story is here.

Today, more media outlets decided to shame their profession with their coverage of the incident.

One of the things we’ve seen in response to what happened is liberals pushing “false flag” conspiracy theories, i.e. the suggestion that the U.S. and/or Saudi Arabia set this attack up to falsely blame the innocent Mullahs in Iran. You know, because famously isolationist Donald Trump wants to go to war with Iran or something. Makes sense, right?

Here’s Obama Bro Ben Rhodes doing that song and dance.

Wait just a second.

I thought we must always trust our intelligence agencies? I remember a time when any question of an intel assessment was tantamount to an “attack on our institutions,” yet here’s Rhodes saying we need an “international investigation” to determine what really happened. Does he not trust the honorable rank and file at the CIA? I’m getting whiplash from all the rule changes lately. Funny how things seem to shift depending on what partisan narrative is being pushed.

Rhodes is probably going to tell us fire can’t melt steel next. Of course, he’ll no doubt be given his usual space in The Washington Post over the coming days to bloviate instead of being called out for pushing conspiratorial nonsense.

It wasn’t just Rhodes though. Supposed “hard news” outlets also tacitly pushed the false flag narrative with headlines like these.

This is a game that the media only play with the Trump administration. Never in a million years would they have questioned an intelligence briefing from Hillary Clinton by describing her as “offering no evidence” for a claim. CNN does it here though for obvious reasons and you can read the comments to see just how whipped up they’ve got the crazies.

Notably, the U.S. government did release pictures and video showing Iranian boats removing a mine from the ship after CNN sent that tweet. So they did in fact provide evidence.

Not to be outdone, The New York Times got in on the act too.

Notice the language here. They say it “differed from the explanation of American officials who blamed Iran.” The clear insinuation there is that the U.S. government is lying and trying to falsely blame the Mullahs.

The problem is that nothing the ship’s operator says really “differs” as much as it simply provides a different context from a different vantage point. The operator, for example, says that the damage was above the waterline and that things were flying through the air. That’s not inconsistent with what Pompeo said. We have pictures of the mines placed above the waterline. It’s also likely that what was “flying through the air” was shrapnel from the explosion. Nothing else really makes sense as gunshots would have been heard if they were bullets.

The entire description that we are “blaming Iran” is typical pro-Mullah propaganda. We aren’t “blaming” them. We are saying they did it because they did it. That’s just reality. The video shows an Iranian gunboat along side the ship. The pictures show the mines on the boat in the exact position we see the Iranian gunboat removing an object from the side.

Here’s an idea. Instead of shilling for Iran non-stop, maybe these outlets could just accept the fact that Iran is a terrorist state? This is the kind of stuff they do regularly. They’ve been attacking boats in the gulf for a while now with little fanfare, never mind their escapades throughout the rest of the Middle East. This time, the flames got a little too big and it caught our attention.

We know what Iran is and it’s completely irresponsible for supposed journalistic outfits to purposely fuel “false flag” conspiracy theories just because they want to slap at Trump. Whoever wrote those tweets for CNN and the Times knew exactly what they were doing.

Another Pinhole In The Dike

Previously (here and here) I’ve opined that a move away from China by U.S. businesses might be in the offing. It looks like more pieces might be coming together for such a move. In a recent article over at American Thinker, Chriss Street writes

Just hours after Simon Rabinovitch, Asia editor for the Economist, claimed damage to global supply chains from the Sino-U.S. Trade War may be “irreversible” and push the world into recession, Bloomberg reported that an executive of Foxconn, Apple’s Taiwan-based primary assembly partner, has enough non-China capacity for all iPhone production.

This is huge. Although an interruption in avocados from Mexico is tolerable, stopping the flow of the latest iPhones to market would be seen as horrific in some quarters. Although Apple has not publicly indicated that a move away from China is in the works, the very idea that Apple has enough capacity elsewhere, puts paid to the cacophony of voices predicting catastrophic and irreversible damage to the markets.

Once again, a single data point isn’t indicative of any trend. However, it looks like the data points are starting to accumulate. How long before this pinhole is joined by others sufficient to collapse the dam? Stay tuned.

Dan Crenshaw Attacks Media Driven Myth That Trump Is Sending Kids to Interment Camps

Westlake Legal Group dan-crenshaw-capitol-SCREENSHOT-620x333 Dan Crenshaw Attacks Media Driven Myth That Trump Is Sending Kids to Interment Camps World war 2 republicans Politics military base Media Japanese immigrant children Front Page Stories Featured Story False Narrative donald trump democrats Dan Crenshaw concentration camps Allow Media Exception

I covered on Wednesday a headline from The Hill that featured news that President Donald Trump was sending kids to the same place Japanese people were sent for internment during World War 2.

This was an obviously false narrative to anyone remotely paying attention. The location is actually a military base where people live. You learn that’s happening because the migrant crisis that hte media likes to pretend doesn’t exist has seen an overflow of children who need a place to stay.

You also learn that Obama used this location for the same exact thing during his time a President.

Sadly, The Hill wasn’t the only one to use this narrative. The Daily Beast, Washington Post, and Time all jumped on the bandwagon to make it seem like Trump was the heartless migrant child-hating racist they’ve been telling us he was.

When Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw appeared on Fox News, he was asked about this ridiculously blatant attempt to drive a narrative and Crenshaw appropriately collapsed it on their heads.

Crenshaw was asked to respond to a Democrat lawmaker Judy Chu who carried the media’s narrative to Twitter and making it seem as if Trump was doing what was done to the Japanese decades ago. Crenshaw didn’t hold back.

“This might be one one of the dumbest comments we’ve ever seen,” said Crenshaw.

Crenshaw noted all the mainstream media outlets who jumped on the opportunity to sell a lie, including The Hill.

“The implication, of course, that they’re going for is that we’re putting people in concentration camps,” said Crenshaw. “Of course, nothing could be further from the truth. This is a military base.”

Crenshaw compared it to people saying that we can no longer have kids at Alcatraz because it used to be a place we put hardened criminals. It’s now a popular tourist attraction.

“It’s nonsense,” continued Crenshaw. “It’s used for something different now. It is not a concentration camp. It’s not even close to that.”

Crenshaw took aim directly at the media.

“Ya know, you can make your arguemnts without being so unbelievably dishonest, but they just can’t help themselves,” added Crenshaw. “How are we supposed to trust members of the media when they put out stories like this?”

Hong Kong Protests: China’s Kobayashi Maru

On it’s face, the protests currently disrupting government operations in Hong Kong would seem to be a single issue event—extradition of “Hong Kongers,” to Mainland China for trials. There’s a lot more to it than that. The BBC has produced a nicely done explainer for those of us unfamiliar or not up to date on Hong Kong and its relationship with the People’s Republic of China. I highly recommend a quick scan before proceeding further.

By many accounts, it appears the local government in Hong Kong is losing or has outright lost control. Several days of protests, some violent have forced the legislature to temporarily stay proposed legislation that would allow the PRC government on the mainland to extradite. An online acquaintance and Red State plank owner gives some interesting perspective

Undergirding it all is real citizen and civil-society resistance.

The array of Hong Kong institutions giving ordinary citizens time and inspiration to take to the streets are the small businesses, the local bureaucracies, and the unions. The teachers union is supporting a strike. The transit union is supporting bus drivers who deliberately slow service in protest. The municipal subway is operating for free, allowing protesting citizens to shuttle away from arrest and toward confrontation with power as needed. Shopkeepers are giving out free water and aid to protestors and the injured. Local entrepreneurs are turning out with their employees and staff to defend their rights.

The Communist Mandarins in Beijing can’t allow this to go on for long.

It will give the tottering authority of Carrie Lam and her government a short while longer to act. Then, when they fail, it will be time for the People’s Liberation Army garrison in Hong Kong to execute the core mission of the PLA since its founding: attacking its fellow Chinese.

Like aspiring the aspiring Star Fleet Officers undergoing “the Kobayashi Maru—no win simulation, the PRC leadership really has no good options. Hong Kong is a huge economic driver for them. The island is supposed to by treaty, have limited autonomy. Treaties are nice, but the real reason Beijing allows any autonomy at all, is to keep that revenue flowing.
Allowing too much autonomy abdicates government control.

If tanks show up in the streets, there will be an unintended consequence for the PRC government. Americans who are currently on the fence about tariffs will likely now come down on the President’s side. Even staunch opponents will likely stand mute on the issue to avoid the appearance of siding with a Government busily engaged in running its citizens over with tanks.

I have no doubt that this will accelerate the current trickle of business moves away from China. If it goes too far, President Trump will in all likelihood, direct punitive sanctions. If China’s Most Favored Nation trade status goes away, it’s game over for them.

Earlier this week, Red State‘s Brandon Morse wrote about an odd incident that happened this past Sunday involving Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY-14) and a potential Republican challenger for her Congressional seat.

A quick recap, via the NY Post:

US Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez turned tail on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue to avoid a potential Republican challenger as they both marched in the National Puerto Rican Day Parade on Sunday, her political opponent said.

Talk-radio producer Rich Valdes told The Post that he tried to challenge the freshman Democratic congresswoman to a debate on the merits of capitalism versus socialism when he spotted her near West 47th Street.

But Ocasio-Cortez “cut her handshaking short, jerked her hand back and jetted to the other side of the street,” Valdes said.

“She literally ran!” he said.

“I thought this was a good time to try and get a response but I honestly only saw the back of her head as she trotted across the street.”

Valdes is an associate producer for Mark Levin’s show.

As it turns out, AOC’s spoxdude slammed Valdes for having the nerve to ask his boss a question. In a tweet he ended up deleting, Corbin Trent wrote:

The nerve! The “stalking” bit was a nice touch, too, and is right out of the AOC “sexissssm!” playbook. Remember this gem from 2018 (h/t: Brandon)?

AOC’s Justice Dems comrade Waleed Shahid tweeted out a show of support for Trent after reports surfaced of his meltdown:

For what it’s worth, Trent explained to the NY Post on Thursday why he deleted the tweet:

“I did indeed send that,” Trent admitted to The Post in a telephone interview Thursday.

“I did indeed delete it. It didn’t seem that helpful,” he said.

Trent said he didn’t regret the move, but rather “regrets that people chase people around.”

“I regret that so many people right from presidential candidates to right-wing commentators to random people that start organizations think that they’re entitled to people’s time. I think she’s spending a ton of time in the district talking about what she’s doing, talking about why she’s doing it and making a case for her policies,” Trent said.

Watch the video below, where Valdes crosses the street to get in line to talk to AOC. She runs almost immediately after to the other side.

Mark Levin DESTROYS Democrats and the Media Over Reaction To Trump’s Remarks

Westlake Legal Group mark-levin-620x349 Mark Levin DESTROYS Democrats and the Media Over Reaction To Trump’s Remarks President Trump Mark Levin Mainstream Media Hillary Clinton Front Page Stories Featured Story donald trump democrats Congress Bill Clinton's reelection Bernie Sanders Allow Media Exception 2020

Yesterday, I posted about the hypocrisy and faux outrage from the mainstream media after Trump told George Stephanopoulos that he would listen to a foreigner who called with information about an opponent here.

Trump replied, “I think maybe you do both. I think you might want to listen. There’s nothing wrong with listening. If somebody called from a country, Norway, ‘Oh, we have information on your opponent,’ I think I’d want to hear it.”

His remarks ignited a firestorm. The media, and amazingly, even some Republicans, went after his remarks like sharks after chum while, of course, ignoring the irony of the situation.

Mark Levin joined Hannity on Thursday night to discuss the media’s hysterical, but completely predictable, response in only the way he can.

“Have you ever seen a dumber media in your life? I mean truly, a dumber media?” he began. “How would the president even know to turn something over to the FBI unless he accepted it and then read it? Accepted it and listened to it … and that is basically what he said.” He continued in his trademark fashion.

I would take a look at it. If it should go to the FBI, it should go to the FBI.

But you’ve made the point, let me underscore it. But look how upset they are. Hillary Clinton and the DNC paid for information. They paid for Russian information. It didn’t come to them. They had to manufacture it and pay for it.

And then contact the FBI? Would that be the FBI that sent spies into the Trump campaign and was leaking to the media?

You know, a little bit of history here. I seem to remember in the 1990s, the Red Chinese military poured millions into Bill Clinton’s reelection. Remember that, the Riady group and Johnny Chung and the rest? They were bringing bags of money into the DNC. Does anybody remember the media getting all worked up other than the L.A. Times? I don’t remember Nancy Pelosi getting worked up. They didn’t even appoint a special counsel to investigate.

Now that’s real interference. and we American people, we’re so stupid, we’re such plebes. We’re really supposed to believe that China wants Trump to win. So they’re going to give Trump information on Bernie Sanders. They would love Bernie Sanders to win. He’s a kindred spirit.

Or that Russia is really happy with the way Trump is treating them, so they’re going to give him information to defeat Kamala Harris or the Iranians or the North Koreans?

How stupid is that?

Or how about the Great Lion of the Senate, Ted Kennedy, who used surrogates to contact the KGB to try to defeat Ronald Reagan in his reelection in 1984.

And Nancy Pelosi. Who can forget Nancy Pelosi in 2007 undermining the Bush administration, running off to meet with the genocidal dictator, the father of the current genocidal dictator in Syria, undermining our national security? Who can remember the Democrat Speaker before that, Jim Wright, running off to Nicaragua to meet Ortega, another genocidal communist?

But for the praetorian guard media that protects the left, that protects big government, big centralized government, the American people can’t stand you and I’m going to tell you why. You are destroying freedom of the press. You make a mockery of yourselves.

Every time Donald Trump says something, you say it’s the end of the world. We’ve never seen anything like it.

You operate in a bubble in Washington, you operate in a bubble in New York. You have no comprehension of what is going on in the country.

The Iranians are taking out oil tankers. Not ours, but others. The Iranians are looking for war and what do we hear from the Code Pink left in the media?

That it’s John Bolton’s fault!

And that it’s the Secretary of State’s fault!

That it is the President of the United States’ fault! You’re pathetic, it’s a joke.

I can’t add to that, except to say I completely understand why Sean Hannity calls him “The Great One.”

It didn’t take long for Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R) to become one of the most beloved representatives in Congress, and it’s not hard to figure out why. He’s young, he’s a veteran, he’s smart, and he’s not afraid to stick it to his fellow lawmakers when they absolutely need it.

(WATCH: Dan Crenshaw Sends 2020 Democrat Candidate To The Burn Ward During Budget Hearing)

But outside of being an awesome addition to an otherwise horrific assortment of “leaders,” Crenshaw has a hilarious sense of humor, and the internet flat-out loves him for it. As Twitchy recently reported, Crenshaw is perfectly capable of making fun of himself to great effect.

Apparently, someone misspelled his name on a road sign. Instead of becoming irate about it as some of the more self-important lawmakers would, Crenshaw took the opportunity to laugh about it.

As a result, the internet laughed along with him.

Crenshaw has proven that he’s willing to laugh at himself, and even give back just as hard. However, it’s very rarely dark or ugly. Even his reaction to SNL’s Pete Davidson was pure class, even to the point where Davidson developed a respect for Crenshaw and the two became friends.

He’s one of the few politicians I can actually say I’d love to see continue to advance in his career. Maybe in the future, we’d be lucky enough to see him as President.

Best-Selling Author Nicholas Sparks’s Private Christian School Comes Under Legal Fire for Banning an LGBT Club

[Screenshot from YouTube, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGIGG6QLjLg]

Did you know mega-author Nicholas Sparks founded a Christian school? I didn’t.

Apparently, the joint promotes views on morality that are — brace for impact — biblical.

The North Carolina prep venture’s called the Epiphany School of Global Studies — a (as per The Daily Beast) “faith-based academy focused on world issues with an emphasis on language-learning, regular visits to other nations, and a shared understanding that ‘learning about the world’ [is] an integral part of 21st-century life.”

The school’s mission statement notes that it’s “anchored in the Judeo-Christian commandment to Love God and Your Neighbor as Yourself.”

Another anchor, however, has caused waves of oppressed sexuality in the mind of one disgruntled ex-employee.

Since 2014, epiphany’s been engaged in a fight (and not the romantic kind like in The Notebook) with former headmaster and CEO, Saul Benjamin. He claims the school enacted bigotry in various forms.

Here’s Saul’s attorney:

“Sparks and members of the Board unapologetically marginalized, bullied, and harassed members of the School community whose religious views and/or identities did not conform to their religiously driven, bigoted preconceptions.”

Saul’s alleged the school is racist, as illustrated by its small number of black students. He also asserts a board member once told him she avoids a particular black-staffed Wal-Mart. When he hired the first full-time black employee, he says, he was met with “unwelcome comments and increased scrutiny.”

And then there’s the issue of the LGBT club, as laid out by TDB:

Rumor spread that Benjamin had formed what Sparks called a “gay club,” and the Board of Trustees insisted the club be banned. Two bisexual teachers approached administrators about the group, and were allegedly threatened with termination if they continued to discuss the issue, according to Benjamin’s complaint. It further alleges that at a board meeting on Oct. 30, 2013, a Board of Trustees member claimed Benjamin was “promoting a homosexual culture and agenda.” Sparks allegedly warned Benjamin against pushing the subject, suggesting it would be “wasting time on a side issue,” according to the complaint.

That sounds like a bit of strife, but would it be illegal, given that the school is private and can therefore dictate its own values?

According to the Beast, there was a lot of resentment brewing:

By November, resentments were running high. That month, Benjamin states in his complaint that two LGBT students approached Benjamin and informed him of their plan to stage a protest during chapel. They planned to remove their clothes and announce their orientation in body paint. Benjamin says he asked the girls not to protest, claiming it “was a time for healing, not heroics.” Instead, in the Friday morning Chapel Talk, a weekly tradition at the school, Benjamin spoke about bullying, and the school’s commitment to “loving their neighbors.”

According to emails involved in the legal dispute, on November 17th, 2013, Nicholas expressed to Saul disappointment over his pressing of the gay issue:

“I told you this would happen…if you didn’t follow our advice, which was simply ‘don’t rock the boat on this particular issue.’”

Additionally, he said it was important to “make sure all Christian traditions feel especially Christian, especially as we move into the Christmas season.”

The romance writer also defended the school against Saul’s contention of racism:

“Regarding diversity, I’ve now told you half a dozen times that our lack of diversity has NOTHING to do with the school or anyone at the school. It’s not because of what we as a school has or hasn’t done. It has nothing to do with racism or vestiges of Jim Crow. It comes down to 1) Money and 2) Culture.”

A half a dozen’s a lot.

The next day, regarding the LGBT contingent, Nicholas wrote that “not allowing them to have a club is NOT discrimination.”

Furthermore:

“Remember, we’ve had gay students before, many of them. [The former headmaster] handled it quietly and wonderfully… I expect you to do the same.”

Now things get really goofy: Three days after the email, Nicholas, Saul, and the Board of Trustees met. Saul was asked to resign. He insists the A Walk to Remember author acted in a “loud, ranting and physically intimidating manner.” In the legal complaint, he also charges he was made victim of “false imprisonment,” as he wasn’t allowed to use the bathroom or speak to a lawyer.

He resigned, ending his 98-day term.

So what’s Nicholas think about all of this?

As described by The Daily Wire:

In a declaration, Nicholas Sparks denied all the allegations brought against the school, asserting that Benjamin lost his job as headmaster of the Christian school for being “aloof, even rude, elitist and dismissive of their beliefs or backgrounds.” He also claims that Benjamin intentionally tried to start an LGBT club on campus in violation of the school’s policy.

It’ll be interesting to see how all this plays out in court. If private organizations can’t defend their religious views against internal engineering, American liberty is lost. And American liberty — it seems to me — is the whole point of America.

Right now, there’s a manhunt on for those who practice free thought and free speech when it comes to the mainstream social media platforms. If you haven’t been banned or suspended for something, then don’t worry, because eventually, you will be if you speak out against the accepted belief system of the left.

Over the past year, this went from being a problem that could hopefully be solved through communication and reason and shifted to ideological war between those who believe in leftist stances and everybody else. Exacerbated by Vox’s war on YouTube, we now see social media platforms openly punishing people who don’t even break their rules but skirt them.

This has created an unsteady ground for many, and only prove that platforms are ready to ban anyone who even remotely upsets members of the left.

This is why people have begun migrating to various other platforms who do not limit their speech at all, and can speak openly without fear of suspensions, bans, or even shadow-banning. These platforms are still young and developing to be better by the day, but they’re wild west when it comes to what you might see and hear. While some might find it shocking, it’s a breath of free air for everyone else.

Here are the platforms that many have begun moving to.

Parler

This is arguably the most popular alternative social media platform on the block right now. Parler has a look and feels that are similar to Twitter, so you won’t experience much of a learning curve upon joining. This has caused thousands to sign on to the app and begin using it almost immediately, including big names such as Dana Loesch, Candance Owens, Paul Joseph Watson, and more. Publications have already created accounts to spread their news around as well, including the Daily Caller and Breitbart.

I myself have an account as well, which you can find by going here.

The app is still perfecting itself and the experience may be a tad rougher than using Twitter, but one thing you can do is decide for yourself what you do and don’t want to see on Parler instead of the network deciding that for you. It treats you like an adult, which is more than can be said for Twitter.

Bitchute

As many people find themselves being silenced, demonetized, or completely removed from YouTube, many have been making their way over to its increasingly popular competition, Bitchute. If you’re right-leaning, then expect to find your favorite video creator there. Even I have an account and post my latest videos to the platform, and so does Steven Crowder, and Tim Pool.

The great thing about Bitchute is that it directly allows you to contribute money via the channel. Bitchute does not rely on advertisers to pay video makers for their content, it relies on you, keeping it free from having to cave to corporations for money.

I advise, however, that you prepare yourself to see things you’ll find horrible. This is a free speech platform, and as such you’re going to see people support things you’re vehemently going to disagree with such as white supremacy and pro-Russia propaganda. Of course, if you’re heading somewhere to enjoy free speech, then it should go without saying that you’re going to run into this kind of thing.

Minds

Minds is an alternative to Facebook that many have gone to in the last year. The platform definitely doesn’t have the interconnectivity that Facebook does, the user interface can be a bit wonky, and troubleshooting is still something they’re working on. Getting a hold of them to solve problems can be a difficult thing to do.

Despite that, many have moved there simply due to the fact that they can post whatever they want and not be removed, suspended, or silenced for it. Like Bitchute, Minds also relies on user donations and allows payments to other users to take place in order to keep away from corporate interference.

Gab

Gab is another platform that many have found a home on. I can only describe it as something of a Twitter/Facebook mashup that is strikingly easy to use. You’ll typically find people who have been banned from Twitter on this platform such as Nick Monroe and Sargon of Akkad.

Gab has been around for some time and as a result, members of the alt-right have found their way there to set up shop. Don’t be surprised to come across their opinions while they’re there, but again, this is a quest to find free speech.

Like Parler, if you don’t want to see their posts you can mute them. Gab allows you to define what kind of experience you want to have while on their platform.

MeWe

If you’re looking for a Facebook alternative, then MeWe is a budding platform that many have found easy to use and fun to be on. It focuses primarily on chat rooms and forum posts, but otherwise operates as a normal social media platform would. In terms of audience, you may not find a whole lot of people there, at least right now. It’s definitely the underdog in the exodus, but it’s an otherwise solid platform.

There are others that people have been using freely, but it would be exhausting to make this list exhaustive. The ones I listed above seem to be the most popular at this time, but as mainstream platforms crackdown on speech and thought, expect alternatives to pop up like meerkats left and right.

At least for now, you have a solid direction to go.
