A Major Democrat Figure Is About to Join the Race for 2020

Westlake Legal Group 120905_tom_steyer_ap_328 A Major Democrat Figure Is About to Join the Race for 2020 Tom Steyer Politics Money Man Major Figure Major Donor Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story democrats Democratic Party Democrat primary billionaire 2020 Race 2020 Primary

I’ve lost count of the number of people running for President on the Democrat side at this point. It’s well over 20 and we are about to see another name added to the list if new reports pan out.

Billionaire and liberal sugar daddy Tom Steyer is telling allies he’s going to jump into the 2020 Democrat primary and he will reportedly make his announcement tomorrow.

The billionaire investor Tom Steyer, who in the past decade has been both the top Democratic donor in the country and the prime engine for pushing for the impeachment of President Donald Trump, appears ready to become Democratic candidate No. 26. Last week in San Francisco, Steyer told staffers at two progressive organizations he funds, Need to Impeach and NextGen America, that he is launching a 2020 campaign, and that he plans to make the formal announcement this Tuesday.

Politico is reporting the same thing but with a bit more certainty.

Tom Steyer, the billionaire environmental activist who toyed with a 2020 presidential run before deciding against it, has told people he plans to announce that he’s entering the race for the Democratic nomination, according to three people familiar with his plans. Steyer had said in January that he was passing on a 2020 run.

Steyer held a private conference call last week to announce to people who work for Need to Impeach, NextGen America and Steyer’s Sacramento office that he was planning to run, according to one of the people.

Steyer is most famous for putting bags of cash into piles and setting them on fire. He’s been the money man behind a lot of the efforts to impeach Donald Trump and has shown himself to be your typical liberal conspiracy theorist. He was also the money behind Andrew Gillum, who would go on to lose a race he was favored to win in Florida last year. Republican Ron DeSantis proved victorious after a contentious campaign.

Back in January, Steyer had previously claimed that he wouldn’t run for President because he felt what he wanted was already being represented by other candidates, but ego is a funny a thing. He’s apparently reconsidered and wants a piece of the action. The risk for the other Democrats is that Steyer can drop tens of millions on his own campaign without blinking at eye. He can flood the airways and internet with ads, basically buying his way to a high profile in the race. Whether that’ll translate to actual voter support is up for debate.

Steyer’s political views are exactly what you’d expect. He’s a major, major booster of global warming hysteria. His economics are in line with the rest of the Democratic field. Oh, and he hates Donald Trump with the fire of a thousand suns, so that box is checked as well.

I don’t see Steyer doing anything but adding to the chaos. Still, like a demolition derby, there’s something satisfying about watching the carnage.

New Book About Kavanaugh Hearing Reveals Trump Team Had Dirt on Blasey Ford, Astute Observation From Melania

The Federalist’s Mollie Hemingway and policy director of the Judicial Crisis Network, Carrie Severino, have collaborated on a book entitled “Justice on Trial: The Kavanaugh Confirmation and the Future of the Supreme Court.”

One of the most fascinating revelations is that Team Trump had “dirt” on Christine Blasey Ford (CBF). However, they feared that if this material was presented during the hearings, it would be viewed negatively. The Trump team “understood that any criticism of Ford would be treated as a smear” and portrayed as “victim shaming.” In the era of #MeToo, they were unwilling to take that risk. If we want to find out knowledge they did have, we’ll have to read the book!

However, statements from some of CBF’s past friends and acquaintances may offer a clue as to the nature of the information. At the time, several came forward with stories about her of love of partying. The tweets below from conservative writer D. C. McAllister gives us a good idea.

Another interesting detail discussed in the book is that, after watching CBF’s testimony against then-Judge Brett Kavanaugh before the Senate Judiciary Committee last fall, First Lady Melania Trump said to the President, “You know that woman is lying, don’t you?”

Melania saw what many other Americans saw.

In “Justice on Trial,” Hemingway and Severino claim that  “millions of other women and men didn’t believe Blasey Ford” and for obvious reasons, this was “underreported by the media…Her credibility, if anything, was viewed as stronger because of her lapses in memory and because the odder parts to the story, such as her description of how she came to tell her husband about the assault. Despite the holes in her story, the media clung to these details.”

Who can forget the childlike, tearful and frumpy Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, whose emotional testimony riveted the nation last year? She claimed she had been sexually assaulted by Kavanaugh  in either the summer of 1981 or 1982 (she wasn’t sure) when they were teenagers. Nor was she sure about whose house it was or where it was.

There was not one shred of corroborative evidence. None of the four witnesses she named as having been at the party have any memory whatsoever of it. I won’t repeat the long list of questions she could not answer about the alleged assault.

Yet the experience left her traumatized for life. She was afraid of flying and of small spaces. For this reason, the Senate confirmation process had to be put on hold while CBF drove from her home in California to Washington, D.C.

A body language expert analyzed CBF’s testimony and believed she’d been acting. She said the only genuine emotion CBF displayed was “fear” and who wouldn’t be afraid to perjure themselves in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee on national television? Another interesting point made by the analyst was that CBF had no mucus or no tears. Here is a clip of the analysis:

“Justice on Trial” was written to provide a “behind-the-scenes look at the dramatic Kavanaugh hearings of September and October 2018.”

The New York Post published an excerpt from the book on Sunday which can be viewed here. This excerpt details the role of Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) whose pivotal swing vote was in demand by both sides. According to the book,” her husband was threatened with ricin in a letter addressed to their Maine home…In Washington, Collins’ neighbor said he was troubled that he was living next door to a “rape apologist,” as the Maine Republican tried to apologize for noisy protesters.”

It should be a fascinating read. It was certainly an extraordinary time.

“Justice on Trial”  is scheduled to be released on Tuesday.

Starbucks Apologizes to Police Officers It Disrespected, but Reveal They Don’t Consider It a Big Deal In the Process

Westlake Legal Group rsz_08fa0873-f266-477b-a28b-046a8ee2d76f-620x414 Starbucks Apologizes to Police Officers It Disrespected, but Reveal They Don’t Consider It a Big Deal In the Process tempe Starbucks protest Politics police Front Page Stories Featured Story Business & Economy Arizona Allow Media Exception

Starbucks finally apologized after messing up big on Saturday when it kicked a group of police officers out of its store in Tempe, Arizona.

As my colleague Elizabeth Vaughn wrote on Saturday, the officers routinely visited the starbucks and were getting a coffee before their Fourth of July shift began. Little did they know that they were committing the crime of standing within eyesight of another customer who “did not feel safe” in the midst of the “police presence.” The staff asked the officers to either move out of the customer’s line of site or leave the establishment.

Naturally, it did not go over well with the public, who proceeded to drag it across every coal it could find. This includes the Tempe Officers Association, who even came out with a neat little graphic.

On Sunday, the coffee chain has issued a formal apology as written from its VP of U.S. retail operations, Rossann Williams:

Dear Chief Moir and the entire Tempe Police Department,

Thank you, Chief Moir, for the conversation today. On behalf of Starbucks, I want to sincerely apologize to you all for the experience that six of your officers had in our store on July 4.

When those officers entered the store and a customer raised a concern over their presence, they should have been welcomed and treated with dignity and the utmost respect by our partners (employees). Instead, they were made to feel unwelcome and disrespected, which is completely unacceptable.

At Starbucks, we have deep appreciation for your department and the officers who serve the Tempe community. Our partners rely on your service and welcome your presence, which keeps our stores and the community a safe and welcoming place.

Our strong relationship with the Tempe Police Department has provided us the opportunity to host several “Coffee with a Cop” events in area stores, which bring residents and police together to discuss relevant issues and find common ground. We look forward to continuing to strengthen our relationship with you, and we agree that the experience of your officers requires an important dialogue – one that we are committed to being part of.

What occurred in our store on July 4 is never the experience your officers or any customer should have, and at Starbucks, we are already taking the necessary steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again in the future.

I will be in Tempe this evening and welcome the opportunity to meet with any of you in person to address concerns or questions.

Two things can be true at one time. I’m glad that Starbucks apologized for the behavior of one of its employees toward a group of men who wake up every day, put on a badge and a gun and stand between us and societal chaos. An apology was desperately needed in this situation, and Starbucks did the smart thing by ignoring the SJWs who celebrated the kicking out of the officers, and making it clear that they understand they goofed.

But…

It can also be true that the response seems light compared to apologies it made in the past. It was just last year that two black men were kicked out of a Starbucks for what was perceived as loitering. In response to the outrage, Starbucks said that it would close down its locations in order to train its employees on racial sensitivity and eliminate their “unconscious bias.” As I wrote last April, when this decision was made, “unconscious bias” usually implies that the person being accused of it is racist without his or her knowledge.

Not only was it a useless waste of resources in the name of optics, it was insulting to Starbucks employees who were essentially called racist. Regardless, Starbucks was trying to look good to the SJW community who are never pleased by anything anyway.

Starbucks, so far as has been revealed, has no plans to shut its stores down for a day in order to train its employees to better respect police. Even the big-wig it’s sending to Tempe to speak to the PD is a lower level than the very CEO who flew down to Pennsylvania when the two black men were kicked out. Unlike that incident, kicking out officers doesn’t seem to warrant that level of response.

Starbucks showed its hand here, and I’m not entirely sure the people are going to consider the apology good enough.

Jeffrey Epstein’s Arrest Will Still Not Get Trump Or Clinton Arrested

FILE- In this July 30, 2008 file photo, Jeffrey Epstein is shown in custody in West Palm Beach, Fla. Labor Secretary nominee Alexander Acosta is expected to face questions at his Senate confirmation hearing about an unusual plea deal he oversaw for Epstein, a Florida billionaire and sex offender, as U.S. attorney in Miami. (AP Photo/Palm Beach Post, Uma Sanghvi, File)/Palm Beach Post via AP)

Upon news that Jeffrey Epstein is, once again, headed to court over child sex trafficking charges, social media was all abuzz over what this meant for their preferred political boogeyman.

Both Donald Trump and Bill Clinton, among others, have ties to Epstein – a billionaire with a thing for massages from underage girls – and more than once each side of the political aisle has pointed accusingly at the other, saying “Your guy is really gonna get it now!”, though with way more exclamation points than I feel is appropriate.

Epstein’s last court fight ended in little more than a slap on the wrist, and it appears as though the new charges, which are set to be unsealed Monday, will look a lot like the old charges. Of course, innocent until proven guilty and all that, but the guy does have tons of similar accusations being leveled against him. Far more accusations than could be called a coincidence or a coordinated attack.

It is likely Epstein was up to his coin purse in illicit sexual encounters with young women, and it is likely that, him being a billionaire with some big name contacts, palled aroud with a lot of big names – including Trump and Clinton. You can make the case that either of those two men must be brought down for their friendship with Epstein. However, don’t expect the legal system to take part in the hunt.

The big deal right now is that a scumbag pedophile is going back before the court to try and defend himself. Hopefully, the legal system has its act together this time and will get the scumbag removed from polite society for good. Epstein’s trial, however, is not the place for partisan point-making. Anyone who was party to Epstein’s crimes is fair game. If either Trump or Clinton was indeed involved, they should also be brought before a jury. If they prosecutors feel there is a case, they should make it.

But it is not about politics. It is about what is universally right and universally wrong. Trump and Clinton, both men with personal faults when it comes to women, are likely not going to be brought up in this trial. While we don’t know what evidence the prosecutors have, public knowledge – the tidbits made available via news outlets and public records – does not have enough to truly implicate either.

Most of you reading this will likely try to direct me to any number of stories mentioning Clinton being flown on Epstein’s private jet. Coincidence? Your mileage may vary. Actionable intelligence? Doubtful.

It’s highly unlikely that this trial is going to go beyond the scope of the charges here: Epstein trafficked young – too young – women for sexual purposes. He is a sleazy guy and he has been in some sleazy social circles. But the idea that this is going to become exactly what many of Robert Mueller’s critics said his investigation was – a much-too-broad political witch hunt that went well beyond the scope of the initial concerns of the FBI – seems pretty ridiculous.

Let us set politics aside here and pray that justice for these young women will be found and that a scumbag will finally receive the punishment he so richly deserves. You won’t find political satisfaction here, but not everything needs that. Just hope that justice is done.

World Cup Fans In Lyon, France Bar Chant ‘F*** Trump’ During Fox News Broadcast

Fox News’ Greg Palkot was broadcasting from a sports bar in Lyon, France following the USWNT’s victory over the Netherlands on Sunday afternoon when boisterous patrons began chanting “F*** Trump.” Despite the shouting going on behind him, Palkot soldiered on with his report.

Moveon.org’s senior video producer, Sara Pearl, caught the chant which can be viewed in the tweet below.

Megan Rapinoe, co-captain of the team and outspoken Trump critic, made headlines last month when she was asked, if her team wins the World Cup and receives an invitation to the White House, would she be “excited” to go.

She responded, “I’m not going to the f*****g White House.”No. I’m not going to the White House. We’re not gonna be invited. I doubt it…[Trump] tries to avoid inviting a team that might decline. Or, like he did when the Warriors turned him down, he’ll claim they hadn’t been invited in the first place.”

The Washington Post reported Rapinoe recently said that “just the fact that someone like her can play her way onto the team amounts to “kind of a good ‘F you’ to … the administration.”

President Trump had the grace to put their differences aside and congratulate the team on their victory. “Congratulations to the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team on winning the World Cup! Great and exciting play. America is proud of you all!,” Trump tweeted.

The left found the impromptu chant to be quite amusing and Sara Pearl’s video went viral. She was very excited about that. In the tweet below, she wrote “I feel like this is actually a big f*** you to Trump’s military tank parade hijacking our Fourth of July. Laura Ingraham had a question for those who found this to be so entertaining. She asked, in a tweet: “What would the media/Left’s reaction have been had such a chant ever been directed at Obama in any bar?”

Journalists Jim Stinson and Joel Pollack answered below.

1776 (the Musical) Reminds Us Why We Must Resist the Push to Erase Our Imperfect Past

Timing is everything — or so they say. This past Sunday, I had the opportunity to see “1776” (the musical) at the Muny (St. Louis’ outdoor musical theater.) We have season tickets and I usually enjoy the shows they bring each summer. This year, the only title which really caught my eye was “1776.”  I didn’t know much of anything about the show. I’d read David McCullough’s like-titled masterpiece but recognized the musical didn’t derive from that despite the obvious subject matter overlap. A quick scan of the songs failed to reveal any which rang a bell with me. Still, as a history buff and someone who’s always thought the founding of our nation both inspiring and fascinating, this one was a must-see for me.

I wasn’t quite certain what to expect. I’ll confess, I was pleasantly surprised. The story and dialogue were intriguing, engaging, often humorous, sometimes even bawdy. The musical numbers left a little to be desired — none of them were particularly catchy, though having followed up Sunday evening’s theater visit with a viewing of the movie Thursday night, I now have this earworm, thank you very much:

Recognizing that this was a dramatization of the events surrounding the signing of the Declaration, not a documentary, I thought the show still provided an informative and entertaining peek into a momentous event. One that seemingly rankles many Americans on an increasingly virulent basis.

If you’d asked me 10 — perhaps even 5 — years ago whether I thought the founding of our nation and signing of our Declaration of Independence controversial (other than, perhaps, to a few assorted grudge-holding Brits), I’d have thought it quite odd. The notion that fellow Americans might take issue with it would have been unfathomable. What’s to dislike about the freakin’ Declaration of Independence?! Please note: I say this as a former liberal/diehard Democrat. I didn’t become a conservative — or right-leaning moderate depending on whose ire I’m incurring — until my mid-thirties. A child of the ’60s, ’70s, and early ’80s, I nevertheless was raised loving my country, the ideals upon which it was founded, and the story of its founding. I was proud to be an American. And that wasn’t a political statement/sentiment — or, at least, not a partisan one. I never was under the illusion that we were perfect or immune to criticism. But even at my most leftward leaning, I absolutely adored and appreciated “the land of the free and the home of the brave.”  (Side note to AOC: “Home of the free” will suffice, as well, particularly if you’re singing this song:)

So imagine my surprise (I should really get over being surprised, I suppose), when the day following the enjoyable “1776” performance, I caught wind of #BetsyRossGate. As several of my colleagues have covered (here, here, and here), apparently, the flag adopted by the Second Continental Congress on June 14, 1777, (a/k/a “The Betsy Ross Flag”), offends the sensibilities of one Colin Kaepernick and thus mustn’t adorn Nike shoes.  Sarah Rumpf reported on the flag kerfuffle here first:

Sneaker giant Nike is apparently willing to flush a significant amount of money down the drain, pulling back already manufactured shoes from retailers, all because Colin Kaepernick, the professional football player turned activist and Nike spokesman, complained the design was offensive.

Nike had designed a special patriotic version of their Air Max sneaker, the Air Max 1 USA, to go on sale this week for the Fourth of July. The shoe featured a bright red, white, and blue color scheme, and the original design of the American flag, as first designed during the Revolutionary War, on the heels.

That original flag design, with thirteen white stars in a circle representing the thirteen original colonies, is often referred to as the “Betsy Ross” flag, after the Pennsylvania woman who has been credited with sewing the very first one (the historical accuracy of this claim is in doubt, but that’s a separate issue — the flag design was indeed the first one America used).

Offensive? Say what now? The Wall Street Journal explained:

Okay, well, pretty much the entire founding of our nation is “connect(ed) to an era of slavery.” Because, yes, slavery was, unfortunately, still a lawful practice — in much of the world — at that time. No, that doesn’t justify it morally and that fact isn’t something to be at all celebrated. But condemning the initial flag adopted by the country for that reason is peak wokeness-overkill.

Again, the U.S. isn’t perfect — far from it. Neither were its founders. (Neither was Betsy Ross, I’m sure.) In fact, that’s directly addressed in “1776”, as John Adams (an ardent opponent of slavery) lobbies to keep language Thomas Jefferson — yes, Jefferson — initially penned in the Declaration:

He has waged cruel war against human nature itself, violating its most sacred rights of life and liberty in the persons of a distant people who never offended him, captivating & carrying them into slavery in another hemisphere or to incur miserable death in their transportation thither.  This piratical warfare, the opprobrium of infidel powers, is the warfare of the Christian King of Great Britain.  Determined to keep open a market where Men should be bought & sold, he has prostituted his negative for suppressing every legislative attempt to prohibit or restrain this execrable commerce.  And that this assemblage of horrors might want no fact of distinguished die, he is now exciting those very people to rise in arms among us, and to purchase that liberty of which he has deprived them, by murdering the people on whom he has obtruded them: thus paying off former crimes committed again the Liberties of one people, with crimes which he urges them to commit against the lives of another.

In the show, South Carolina delegate Edward Rutledge objects to the inclusion of the passage and warns he will vote against independence (spelling doom for the Declaration, given the agreed-upon unanimity requirement) if it is left in the document. Adams, distraught, then debates the matter with Benjamin Franklin:

Dr. Benjamin Franklin John? I beg you consider what you’re doing.

John Adams Mark me, Franklin… if we give in on this issue, posterity will never forgive us.

Dr. Benjamin Franklin That’s probably true, but we won’t hear a thing, we’ll be long gone. Besides, what would posterity think we were? Demi-gods? We’re men, no more no less, trying to get a nation started against greater odds than a more generous God would have allowed. First things first, John. Independence; America. If we don’t secure that, what difference will the rest make?

Again, I realize this is dialogue from a dramatization of the events — not a documentary or reenactment from the Congressional Record. But it struck me at the time (even before the Betsy Ross Flag controversy became a thing), that the stain of slavery was addressed so frankly in the play. Keep in mind, “1776” isn’t a recent work. It premiered on Broadway in 1969. It wasn’t glossed over. It was prominent — and painful to watch. As it should be.

History isn’t utopian and historical figures, including our founding fathers, aren’t demi-gods. They were “men, no more no less.” The current trend to willfully erase them and their deeds — both good and bad — by removing markers and symbols referencing them is probably well-intentioned in most instances, but so very ill-conceived. It lets the perfect be not just the enemy of the good but swallow it whole.

We should remember them. We should honor their accomplishments and learn from their mistakes.

America Has Gravely Disappointed Ilhan Omar

Westlake Legal Group Ilhan-Omar-620x465 America Has Gravely Disappointed Ilhan Omar Ungrateful the washington post Radical puff piece Politics Israel Ilhan Omar Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story democrats democrat Congress Campaign Finance Violations anti-semite

Omar’s short time on the public scene has been filled with one controversy after another. Whether it’s her consistent habit of delving into antisemitism, the evidence she committed marriage fraud, or just the general way she conducts herself as a lawmaker, Omar has managed to find herself in the news over and over and rarely for positive reasons.

Despite plenty of issues at play, because she’s a Democrat, that means she gets puff pieces in The Washington Post. This latest one caught my eye.

We’ve all disappointed her, guys.

There’s a certain arrogance to Omar’s time in the United States that tends to rub people the wrong way and that’s on full display as The Washington Post dives into one of the fluffier pieces you’ll read about a D.C. politician. Take this anecdote for example.

Five years earlier, Omar told the students, she was working for a Minneapolis city councilman who asked her to report back on problems with the courts. There, she recalled encountering a “sweet, old . . . African American lady” who had been arrested for stealing a $2 loaf of bread to feed her “starving 5-year-old granddaughter.”

After spending the weekend in jail, the woman was led into the courtroom and fined $80 — a penalty she couldn’t pay. “I couldn’t control my emotions,” Omar continued, “because I couldn’t understand how a roomful of educated adults could do something so unjust.”

“Bulls—!” she recalled yelling in the courtroom.

Omar, perhaps because of her lack of background with American ideals, seems to not understand that prosecution for criminal activity, even supposed “crimes of desperation,” are what help hold society together. It’s a short walk from arbitrary decriminalization to the anarchy of her home country of Somalia. There’s also the fact that the story she told, much like her entire career, is likely complete nonsense.

Omar’s story echoed the plot of “Les Miserables.” If true, it is also probably embellished. City officials said that police aren’t allowed to arrest people for shoplifting unless there’s a likelihood of violence or further crime. Typically, shoplifters are sentenced to attend a three-hour class.

In an interview, Omar said she may have flubbed some facts. “She might have had a prior [arrest],” Omar said. “I’m not sure. . . . The details might not have all matched, but that’s what I remember.”

Much like we witnessed with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s slanderous claims about Border Patrol last week, this new generation of leftist politicians rely on exaggeration and falsehood to push their narratives. It doesn’t matter if what they say is actually true, only that it paints a moralistic picture they feel can advance their goals.

Omar goes on to call America a “broken promise.”

In Omar’s immigrant story, America wasn’t a “city on a hill,” a haven for grateful masses fleeing war and oppression. Rather, it was a broken promise. “I arrived at the age of 12 and learned that I was the extreme other,” she often said. “I was black. I was Muslim. I also learned I was extremely poor and that the classless America that my father talked about didn’t exist.”

While I can sympathize with the idea that her expectations may have been unrealistic, perhaps not being in a war-torn country, being offered government assistance, and being part of a society that allows a refugee to become a Congressional member should count for something. No one actually promised Omar utopia. What America has always been is a promise of opportunity and she, even though she’ll never admit it, proved the inclusiveness of that promise by attaining her current position.

One particularly jarring passage from the piece involved Omar giving this description of U.S. military combat veterans.

At times, she struggled to see the humanity in her opponents, dismissing a paralyzed Gulf War veteran’s suggestion that the presence in Congress of more combat veterans, who have experienced the costs of war, might produce a more cautious foreign policy and improve veteran care.

“I’ve been in rooms with people who have served who say the most horrendous things, who have complete disregard for life,” she said. “I would love for that statement to be true, but it isn’t in most cases.”

The article keeps going from there, but the essential point is that America has failed to live up to Omar’s demands throughout her time here.

In Omar’s version, America wasn’t the bighearted country that saved her from a brutal war and a bleak refugee camp. It wasn’t a meritocracy that helped her attend college or vaulted her into Congress. Instead, it was the country that had failed to live up to its founding ideals, a place that had disappointed her and so many immigrants, refugees and minorities like her.

I’ll give the author credit for tacitly countering some of her claims, i.e. him pointing out above that this country helped pay for her to go to college and gave her the pathway to attain almost anything, including becoming a U.S. House member. Still, if the United States has been such a grave disappointment to refugees and immigrants, there’s always the option to not come here. The truth is, the United States, while not perfect, is still the greatest country on earth. Some semblance of gratitude from Omar would go a long way, yet she chooses to show absolutely none.

Of course, the writer stops short of any real push back, instead choosing to tell “her story” mostly uncritically. Nowhere in the article is there mention of the evidence that has mounted that she committed marriage fraud. There’s no mention of the proven campaign finance violations she committed. Most egregiously, The Washington Post doesn’t bring up her bouts of antisemitism while in Congress at all. You’d think that would be relevant. Would the Post write an article about a Republican without laying bare every questionable aspect of his or her past? We all know the answer to that.

While the article mostly focuses on her past, Omar’s graceless treatment of the country that saved her continues apace. We see it in her political rantings, defending terrorist regimes like Iran and the Palestinian Authority while outright lying about the actions of Israel. The presence of Muslim fundamentalism in her worldview, even though we aren’t supposed to talk about those things, clearly influences her to defend the indefensible while attacking those who have outstretched their hand to her.

Omar manages to find time to defend ISIS terrorists and ask for radical members of the Muslim Brotherhood to be released, but she trashes American veterans of the Battle of Mogadishu as “Satan.” We’ve seen her laugh about Al Qaeda with anti-Semitic figures, defend tyrants like Nicolas Maduro, and laud literal terrorists like Angela Davis. But one thing always eludes Omar’s lips, that being any praise for the country that took her in and gave her everything.

It’s all completely bizarre and I don’t believe just how bizarre is lost on most of the American voters who are watching this from afar. The reason Omar remains relatively unscathed is simply because of the culture of that inter-sectionalism has propagated in the country. People are afraid to speak the obvious about her actions and worldview for fear of retribution.

At some point though, the truth has to outweigh fear of the mob. Omar has no business being in Congress. While the Congresswoman may constantly focus on her disappointment in America, we all have far more reason to be disappointed in her.

Amazon Bans Books on Conversion Therapy for Homosexuals Who Want to Change Their Lives

Amazon’s banning books!

But first, in case you missed my articles yesterday, please ’em check out:

Now back to the ban.

If you’re wanting to shake a pesky same-sex attraction, don’t look to Amazon: They’ve decided they’re smarter than you and’ll have to look out for your best interests. Subsequently, they’ve banned several books on conversion therapy.

Why are we reverting to things we were supposed to have long learned better than? It’s also happening with race — just see here.

LifeSite News rings the bell on Amazon’s new move:

Amazon has removed the books of Dr. Joseph Nicolosi, the psychologist whom critics have dubbed ‘the father of conversion therapy. In other words, for claiming that change is possible for those who experience unwanted same-sex attraction, Dr. Nicolosi’s books must be banned.

Joseph — who passed away in 2017 — co-founded the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality.

Reportedly, the books were banned due to the complaints of one man, Rojo Alan.

As relayed by Pink News:

Rojo Alan wrote to Amazon several times asking it to remove Nicolosi’s books. After receiving no response, Alan made a Facebook post on May 31 calling for Amazon and Wordery to take down “a number of homophobic books.” Wordery, according to Alan, responded within 24 hours and removed the books from its listings.

I miss the days when, seemingly, people were allowed to think whatever they wanted. And say whatever they thought — those times gone by when the First Amendment was looked upon with reverence and America was much more of an open forum — that was nice.

Rojo told PN:

“I contacted Amazon regularly to speak to them about the books, about how unethical they are. … Once I gathered everything, I went back to Amazon and I threw all the information I had at them in several conversations. Yet I was given the same ‘we will refer this to the relevant team.’”

As of July 2nd, Rojo’s dream had been realized:

“I’m currently in Starbucks, I’m so close to crying that all my efforts seem to have paid off.”

Why would he be elated that free expression was squashed?

It wasn’t Amazon’s first time to take a position and eradicate opposed ideas. The ubiquitous retailer recently 86’d several anti-vaccine documentaries.

That particular revamp came after Rep. Adam Schiff reached out to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.

His message in a letter:

“As the largest online marketplace in the world, Amazon is in a unique position to shape consumption,” Schiff wrote in the letter to Amazon. “The algorithms which power social media platforms and Amazon’s recommendations are not designed to distinguish quality information from misinformation or misleading information and, as a result, harmful anti-vaccine messages have been able to thrive and spread. The consequences are particularly troubling for public health issues.

“I am concerned by the report that Amazon accepts paid advertising that contains deliberate misinformation about vaccines; promoting these advertisements as suggested content ahead of intended search results. Every online platform, including Amazon, must act responsibly and ensure that they do not contribute to this growing public health catastrophe.”

Of course, Amazon is a private business and — just like Christian bakers — can run its business as it sees fit. The web giant has no obligation to carry any particular products.

Still, as the world becomes more dependent upon the erstwhile internet bookseller and the planetary community as shared via social media platforms, those decisions which narrow the universe are, in my view, a great way to make things less interesting. And a slippery slope toward more — and worse — of the same.

As LifeSite pointed out, the Bible speaks against homosexuality; is it next?

Trump Compares AOC to a Famous Nazi Sympathizer. She Ignorantly Takes It as a Compliment

In a book set for mid-July release, President Trump refers to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as Evita — Eva Perón.

According to HuffPost contributor Yashar Ali, American Carnage asserts the labeling was Trump’s response to seeing AOC on a cable news show:

“I called her Eva Perón. I said, ‘That’s Eva Perón. That’s Evita.’”

Purportedly, The Donald told his crew to contact Alexandria’s opponent in the primary at the time — Rep. Joe Crowley — and tell him to “get off his fat a** and start campaigning.”

The 29-year-old congressional freshman’s evidently taken the comparison as a compliment:

Subsumed by the brand Alexandria has built over the last year or so is a penchant for having no idea about the subjects upon which she authoritatively waxes philosophic. She appears to treat knowledge as an improv comedy troupe treats a script — she ain’t into it. Just wing it — the first rule of improv is to commit.

But she may have wanted to find out who Evita was before she started soaking in the Perón sun.

From The Telegraph:

The Politically Incorrect Guide to Latin America’ aims to highlight a series of little known controversies about leading leftist figures in the history of the continent.

Eva Peron, known as Evita, was the second wife of President Juan Peron, and remains a national heroine almost 60 years after she died from cancer.

However, Mr Peron helped many Nazis fleeing Europe after the Second World War to find a safe haven in Argentina, including Adolf Eichmann and Josef Mengele.

According to the new book: “It is still suspected that among her [Eva Peron’s] possessions, there were pieces of Nazi treasure, that came from rich Jewish families killed in concentration camps.”

Not a good look for the former bartender, particularly considering her recent “concentration camp” blowup (here, here, and here).

Twitter noted such.

The Nazis were, of course, socialists.

It seems to me that it wouldn’t be a bad idea for Alexandria to take a new approach: Know stuff. Then talk.

But that’s only how it seems to me, and it clearly isn’t how it seems to her.

Still, don’t cry for her, Argentina.

British Ambassador Who Called White House ‘Uniquely Dysfunctional’ Will Keep Job Amid Leaks Probe

The British Ambassador to the U.S. — whose leaked cables back to London called the Trump White House “uniquely dysfunctional” and “divided” while characterizing President Trump as “radiat[ing] insecurity” — will keep his position as ambassador while an investigation is conducted to determine how his communiques were leaked.

There were calls last night for Sir Kim [Darroche] to be recalled to London, as the Foreign Office called in senior civil servants to carry out a leak inquiry.

Police will be called in if any evidence of criminality emerges.

But Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt stood by popular Sir Kim, 65, who previously worked as the PM’s National Security Adviser.

Mr Hunt said he was “doing his job” as “frank opinions” from ambassadors are vital.

But in a bid to smooth over the Transatlantic rift, Mr Hunt added: “It’s also important to say this was a personal view. It’s not the view of the British government. It’s not my view.

“We continue to think that under President Trump the US administration is not just highly effective but the best possible friend of the United Kingdom on the international stage.”

There is already gossip and innuendo about who could have leaked Kim’s “diptels” with those seeking to fill his position named as likely culprits.

One senior Tory MP told The Sun: “Who would have gone to the trouble of saving up two years of diptels? I’m guessing an ambitious minister or their spad [special adviser]”.

Cabinet Secretary Sir Mark Sedwill is rumoured to be lined up to succeed Sir Kim, but the embarrassing leak could jeopardise that as Mr Trump may now prefer to deal with a visibly pro-US politician.

The leaks come on the heels of Trump’s visit to the UK, which many in the American press described as a trip to reestablish a healthy relationship with the UK as it had, of late, been on “shaky ground”.

If the British Ambassador was reflective of how others in the British government viewed the Trump administration, it’s not hard to figure out why the relationship needed repairing; but it does complicate an easy assessment of who could have wanted the information leaked.
