It’s almost like they are overlooking relevant facts on purpose to push a narrative. Nah, couldn’t be.

If you got on political social media today, you probably witnessed about eight hours of freakout centered on Bill Barr hosting a party at the Trump Hotel in DC. Here’s a sampling of some of the flailing about that took place.

From the headlines and the responses, you’d think Barr was evil incarnate, reaching a level of corruption never before seen in modern American politics. Taking DOJ money and using it to pay $30,000 to Donald Trump’s hotel? Beyond the pale.

Well, it would be if that was what actually happened.

So what’s really going on here? This wasn’t government money. It wasn’t funneling DOJ funds to Donald Trump or mixing business with pleasure. Rather, Bill Barr took his own money and booked a 4 hour party at Trump’s hotel for his friends and family, totaling about 200 attendees. Real scandalous stuff.

This entire outrage is stupid. Barr is free to spend his money as he wants. If he wants to burn a ridiculous sum on a Christmas party, more power to him. It wouldn’t be my choice, but it’s his money. The idea that this is corruption or a conflict of interest simply doesn’t add up. I saw one person suggest this was a “bribe.” Why would Barr need to bribe Trump? Wouldn’t it be the other way around if you buy into the conspiracy theories about them being in league together?

And does anyone think Trump cares about the few thousand dollars his business will clear after all the staff, food, and facility expenses are paid? Of course he doesn’t. The guy may not be as rich as he claims, but he’s still filthy rich.

I do like the fact that Barr seems to enjoy triggering these people. It’s refreshing to see a political appointee throw some shades on and ignore the woke mob for a change.

Professor’s Employer Responds To Bret Stephens (A.K.A. ‘Bedbug’) In The Most Delightful Way

Following New York Times columnist Bret Stephens’ freakout over being called a “bedbug” on Twitter by a George Washington University professor — and Stephens’ subsequent attempt to inform the professor’s employer of the enormity of that transgression — GWU did something we’ve been sorely missing in this present darkness known as the cancel culture:

They reacted rationally and stood up for their guy.

The nod toward the First Amendment is a particularly nice touch in this age of campus thought and speech police turning people in like they’re the Stasi in East Germany before The Wall came down. And the offer to Stephens to engage in a speech about civil discourse is, I believe, a serious one.

Stephens might also, now that he’s left Twitter, find the time to reflect on the fact that many conservatives are defending him from the mob online that trashed him for what is undoubtedly a huge mistake for a man who has devoted so many column inches to the scourge of the cancel culture.

And perhaps also — but this is likely a selfish ask because I’m just highly curious — he might spend some time trying to identify why being called a “bedbug” set him off so. I know he believes bedbugs — or, more specifically, calling people bedbugs — might be linked to fascism (he really said that), but he’s probably almost completely alone in that assessment.

However he chooses to use it, it’s good Mr. Stephens has this time to reflect. And he should take GW up on their offer.

The Music Industry Comes Together to Fight the Injustice of Abortion Laws – See if Your Favorite Singers Made the Cut

Westlake Legal Group prairie-dog-1470659_1280-620x413 The Music Industry Comes Together to Fight the Injustice of Abortion Laws – See if Your Favorite Singers Made the Cut Uncategorized Front Page Stories Featured Story

Previously, Hollywood’s rallied against states’ restrictive abortion laws (here).

Now the music industry is speaking out.

Via a full-page ad in Billboard, over 130 recording artists are taking a stand against pro-life legislation.

The campaign — “Band Together, Bans Off” — is a studded alliance with Planned Parenthood’s #BansOffMyBody.

A few of the notables on board: former Nickelodean star (and absolutely phenomenal singer) Ariana Grande, hitmaker Carole King, Alanis Morissette, Fiona Apple, Foo Fighters, HAIM, Heart, Frozen’s Idina Menzel, anti-Trumper John Legend, Katy Perry (here), Lady Gaga, Macklemore, “All About That Bass” singer Meghan Trainor, Miley Cyrus, Nine Inch Nails, Norah Jones, Queens of the Stone Age, Sia, and 90’s breakthrough Third Eye Blind.

The ad explains:

Freedom is at the foundation of music. Through music we have the power to create, to be as we are as individuals, to speak and live our truth. Access to sexual and reproductive health care is about that same freedom. Because no one is free unless they control their own body. Right now our bodies are under attack in this country. Sweeping bans on access to safe, legal abortions are stripping away our freedoms. Now is the time to band together and say keep your bans off our bodies.

As reported by Broadway World, Planned Parenthood Acting President and CEO Alexis McGill Johnson praised the partnership:

“Abortion access and reproductive health and rights are under attack like never before, and we need everyone to fight back. These bans do not represent the will of the American people, which is why so many powerful, diverse voices are speaking out against them. Planned Parenthood is grateful to these artists for using their incredible platforms to declare that our bodies are our own – if they are not, we can never be truly free or equal. With their help, Planned Parenthood and our supporters will keep fighting to ensure that our patients – and people across the country – can still access reproductive and sexual health care, no matter what.”

The team-up follows 180+ CEOs of companies such as Bloomberg, H&M, Postmates, and Yelp uniting for the pro-choice cause in a June New York Times ad.

What do these groups hope to accomplish? A roll-back of the country’s laws?

Whatever their specific plan, many in business and entertainment are making no bones about it — they want abortion on demand, and they want it now.

Personally, I miss the simpler days when you had no idea what the maker of your favorite tennis shoes or the singer of your favorite song thought about any given issue of politics. Now, it’s almost hard to imagine such a time. For those of you who missed it, I feel bad for you.

It was truly glorious.

Leaders Failing the Masses: Lindsey Graham Bottom-Lines the Obstacle to Immigration Reform, and it’s Downright Pathetic

Westlake Legal Group posters-2590766_1280-620x413 Leaders Failing the Masses: Lindsey Graham Bottom-Lines the Obstacle to Immigration Reform, and it’s Downright Pathetic Uncategorized Front Page Stories Featured Story

On Tuesday, Lindsey Graham laid out the greatest obstacle to any kind of meaningful fix on the issue of illegal immigration: Democrats are filled with completely overwhelming enmity toward Donald J. Trump.

Fox & Friends host Steve Doocy asked the senator:

“Why has such an important issue become so political?”

He was to the point:

“They hate Trump.”

He also offered a plan for success:

“Send people to Washington who don’t hate Trump.”

Well, they do say the simplest answer is usually the best one.

Linsdey claimed he’s been working to broker a deal to get things done. However, he explained, he can’t seem to fit in with either side of the aisle: He’s too wall-crazy for the Left and too much a hocker of “Grahamnesty” for the Right.

The congressman has, in fact, supported protection for Dreamers.

Furthermore, he’s been willing to endorse an extension for over 250,000 with Temporary Protected Status in exchange for funds to bolster the border’s barrier.

“I’ve done everything I know to do,” he insisted. “I’ve talked. I’ve turned blue in the face. I can’t get one Democrat to agree with me that you should apply for asylum in Central America or Mexico, not the United States because we don’t have the capability to deal with asylum claims. And most of them are fraudulent.”

He’s also sick of the fast release that allows the system to lose those initially held as a family unit:

“I can’t get one Democrat to agree to allow children to be held with their families humanely for 40, 50, or 100 days so we can process their claims. They literally want them to be released in the United States. They continue a practice of asylum being applied for in the United States that has a never-ending trail, and the trail to get here is terrible for women and children.”

To Lindsey, despite the complexity, it’s all one singular paradigm at work:

“They will not work with me, they will not work with President Trump.”

It’s easy to imagine he’s correct. We seemingly can’t go a day without a Democratic politician or media figure lobbing the most absolutely absurd ideas about the President.

The most absurd idea of all, though, is legislators that are too partisan — or too ridiculous — to get anything done.

Update: In Twitter Post, Beto O’Rourke Doubles Down on Ghoulish Third Trimester Abortion Position

This morning I wrote about a campaign appearance 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke made in Charleston, SC on Monday where he was asked by a pro-life voter about his stance on abortions late into the third trimester of pregnancy when the unborn baby is viable.

O’Rourke’s answer was not surprising but was very disturbing nevertheless, and spoke volumes about the left’s ghoulish position on abortion. To quickly recap, here’s an abbreviated version of the transcript:

Voter: And someone asked you specifically, specifically about third trimester abortions, and you said that’s a decision left up to the mother. So, my question is this: I was born September 8th, 1989, and I want to know if you think on September 7th, 1989, my life had no value.

Beto: Of course I don’t think that. And of course I’m glad that you’re here. But you referenced my answer in Ohio, and it remains the same. This is a decision that neither you, nor I, nor the United States government should be making. That’s a decision for the woman to make.

(The College of Charleston crowd uproariously applauds)

We want her to have the best possible access to care and to a medical provider, and I’ll tell you the consequence of this, this attack on a woman’s right to choose …

Voter interjects: But what about my right to life?

Beto:I listened to you and I heard your question. I’m answering it. And the attack on Roe v. Wade, which we thought was the settled law of the land, and lest we had any illusion that the achievements that we’ve made are protected forever, or that progress is inevitable, that has been shattered right now.

As I noted in my post, it was mostly a stock answer he gave on the issue, designed to win applause. But reading between the lines, here’s what Beto was really telling that pro-life voter even though he didn’t actually say the words:

“Yes, I’m glad you’re here but I’m also glad your mother had the right to abort you up to the moment of birth and it would have been ok if she did because it’s legal and we should respect a woman’s decision no matter what it is.”

Unfortunately, O’Rourke doubled down on that position in a tweet posted this afternoon, which includes video of the voter’s question and Beto’s answer:

Several conservative websites have written about this story, but the only mainstream media outlet I’ve seen report on it is Fox News. Don’t look for many – if any – journalists from other major news outlets to write about it, or press him for more specifics on his answer, or ask him if there should be any exceptions for third trimester abortions.

Because when it comes to the so-called “right” to terminate an unborn life up until the moment of birth – and beyond, the mainstream media have made it very clear where they stand: with Democrats.

Sad.

Democratic presidential candidate and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) at the Ali Center in Louisville, KY – 8/25/19. Screen grab via Reddit user cmplxgal.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) held a rally in Louisville, KY on Sunday at the Muhammad Ali Center where his main focus was to attack Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) in his own backyard.

The Louisville Courier-Journal reported on the rally and what Sanders said to fire up the crowd of around 2,000:

Sanders, fighting to be the Democratic nominee in 2020, accused McConnell of blocking important legislation in the U.S. Senate at the behest of corporate interests and detriment of the working class.

“I say to Mitch McConnell: Please stand with the working people in Kentucky and America, not your wealthy campaign contributors,” Sanders said.

Sanders told the crowd that McConnell was obstructing legislation recently passed by the U.S. House that would raise the federal minimum wage to $15, expand background checks on gun purchases and strengthen the country’s election security from foreign attacks.

McConnell has the right to vote against those bills and explain such opposition to his constituents, but he lacks the right to “stop democracy in the United States Senate,” the Vermont senator said.

As it turns out, McConnell wasn’t Sanders’s only target. Since the 2020 presidential candidate was at the Ali Center, sometime before or after his speech, he took a few swings at a speed bag, according to video posted by Reddit user cmplxgal on Monday.

I couldn’t embed the video, but multiple Twitter users posted an abbreviated, soundless clip of Sanders punching – and then the bag punching him back:

The video appears to be authentic, and was filmed sometime during the course of an interview with Vice News:

Needless to say, the jokes have already started:

I’m anxiously awaiting reactions to this video from Sen. Ted Cruz, Rep. Dan Crenshaw and/or President Trump. Should be epic.

The Washington Post Smears Pro-Lifers As White Supremacists Because No One Is Safe

Westlake Legal Group planned-parenthood-tx2-620x432 The Washington Post Smears Pro-Lifers As White Supremacists Because No One Is Safe the washington post Steve King sanger Pro-Life pro-abortion Politics political planned parenthood media bias J.D. Vance Gross Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story Disgusting democrats Brostoff

The Washington Post is just awful.

If you’d like more evidence of that, here’s a piece they put out today tying pro-lifers to white supremacy and suggesting that J.D. Vance subscribes to the white nationalist replacement theory. The author of the article is someone names Marissa Brostoff, who epitomizes the know nothing nature of so many current journalists.

Her proof of such a stupid, ahistorical claim? That Steve King is pro-life. Really, that’s pretty much what here argument boils down to. I hear Steve King also drives a car, thereby cars are clearly white nationalist garbage.

Last fall, speaking to a far-right Austrian magazine, the Iowa Republican congressman Steve King succinctly laid out his theory of Western decline. The problem, he suggested, was a demographic born at the nexus of reproduction and immigration. “If we continue to abort our babies and import a replacement for them in the form of young violent men, we are supplanting our culture, our civilization,” King said.

King’s views are certainly problematic, especially if you take the worst interpretation of them (to be fair, he doesn’t actually say “white” anywhere in his comments). But King is hardly dispositive that the greater pro-life movement is somehow tied to white supremacy. History tells quite the opposite story.

In fact, Brostoff’s article is an exercise in contradiction. Abortion is a form of eugenics, one she supports. 36% of all babies aborted are black. Planned Parenthood exists today because a founder who sought to use abortion to eradicate minorities founded it. What does any of this have to do with the largely religiously based pro-life movement?

Take this word salad for example.

This juxtaposition has been particularly cruel over the past year, as revelations about the imprisonment of migrant children in concentration camps have coincided with a wave of draconian antiabortion legislation. (Just last week, a federal appeals court approved Trump administration rules cutting off federal funds from health-care providers that offer abortions or even discuss the procedure with patients, effectively slashing the budget of organizations like Planned Parenthood.) But understanding this confluence as ironic can actually mislead us. In fact, as King and his white nationalist allies have become increasingly comfortable admitting, state crackdowns on reproductive and immigrant rights are inextricably linked.

In other words, she’s essentially asserting that Republicans are evil and want to kill everyone, but also they are pro-life and that’s super evil as well. If you are struggling to square that circle logically, don’t be too hard on yourself. It makes absolutely no sense.

Here’s the reality. Being pro-life means eliminating abortion for all races. It means more black and Hispanic babies being born, not less. There is absolutely nothing even resembling white supremacy is such a viewpoint. It’s actually the complete opposite. Pro-abortion advocates, on the other hand, are an ally of the white nationalist movement because they largely target minority women and their unborn children.

To assert that being against abortion is actually helping white supremacists is ludicrous on its face. In short, this writer is attempting to link two diametrically opposed ideas simply to cram the circle of her politics into the square of what abortion actually does and who it affects the most.

As you read Brostoff’s piece, it’s lack of any actual citation for her claims is notable. What she’s attempting to do is claim that because white supremacists are concerned with falling birthrates (of white people), that this means all people encouraging more births (of all races) are white supremacists. This is nonsense. It’s like saying that because the Christchurch shooter was concerned about the environment that environmentalism is therefore white supremacy. An idea can be adopted by bad actors. It does not make the idea defined by those bad actors.

Falling birthrates are actually an issue for economies and we’ve seen countries of all different racial makeups encouraging parenthood. That movement has exactly nothing to do with white nationalism and everything to do with nations acting in their own self-interests. If someone wants to argue for abortion and be against governments encouraging more births, fine. But trying to connect that to white supremacy and then claim pro-lifers are white supremacists is disgusting garbage.

To end her piece, Brostoff then smeared J.D. Vance by claiming he was touting white nationalist replacement theory. This despite him clearly spelling out what he was talking about.

J.D. Vance’s wife is a minority and his children are half Asian. The modern woke movement has no room for critical thinking or facts though, so Brostoff ran with her gross insinuation anyway. The Washington Post has since scrubbed that paragraph and offered a correction, no doubt to avoid being sued. What she had originally written was likely actionable defamation.

I’ll end by reiterating that the modern white supremacist movement, however tiny it actually is, is largely pro-abortion. Richard Spencer, for example, supports abortion. Brostoff, whether she wants to accept it or not, is finding far more common cause with racists than pro-lifers are. Her entire piece smacks of looking in the mirror and not liking what she sees. Instead of reflecting on the immorality of her own views though, she sought to project evil on others via illogical nonsense lacking any and all evidence.

While many conservatives on social media acted shocked that the Post would even publish this, I’m not surprised at all. This is who these people are. This is their agenda. We either push back against it vehemently or we collapse under its weight.

Just a month ago, Minnesota Islamist and member of The Squad Ilhan Omar abruptly abandoned her current husband (that would be number two) and moved into a luxury penthouse in Minneapolis. In fairness to Omar, her husband, Ahmed Hirsi, was dumped by her back in 2008. She went on to marry her brother–hopefully this was just garden variety immigration fraud and not some obscure Somali custom–before dumping her brother and remarrying Hirsi. They have three children.

About the same time, a video became public showing Omar and an unnamed man in a secluded LA restaurant. Staff said the love birds hand been holding hands. This video dates from March.

Now the story gets better. Omar has officially been named as “the other woman” in what could end up being a pretty messy divorce.

A Washington, DC, mom says her political-consultant husband left her for Rep. Ilhan Omar, according to a bombshell divorce filing obtained by The Post.

Dr. Beth Jordan Mynett says her cheating spouse, Tim Mynett, told her in April that he was having an affair with the Somali-born US representative and that he even made a “shocking declaration of love” for the Minnesota congresswoman before he ditched his wife, alleges the filing, submitted in DC Superior Court on Tuesday.

The physician, 55, and her 38-year-old husband — who has worked for lefty Democrats such as Omar and her Minnesota predecessor, Keith Ellison — have a 13-year-old son together.

Beth Mynett is seeking primary physical custody of her and her husband’s son in part because of Tim Mynett’s “extensive travel” with Omar, the document says.

“Defendant’s more recent travel and long work hours now appear to be more related to his affair with Rep. Omar than with his actual work commitments,” the court papers state.

(Here’s the background on Mynett.)

And the coup de grace, divorced guys will know what this means:

The physician is also seeking full control of the couple’s DC home, child support and legal fees to be paid by Tim Mynett, according to the filing.

“I’m not getting married again, I’m just going to find some woman I hate and buy her a house.”

What impact does this have on Omar? I suspect very little. The people who admire her do so despite her Islamism and pro-terrorist sympathies, a little adultery isn’t going to make any difference to them. It is hard to see the party of Ted Kennedy having much to say about it either.

New NBC/WSJ Poll Has Some Good News For Trump, But You’d Never Know It

Westlake Legal Group trump-2020 New NBC/WSJ Poll Has Some Good News For Trump, But You’d Never Know It polls Mainstream Media Liberal Elitism Front Page Stories Featured Story Allow Media Exception 2020

When I was in college many moons ago, we were required to read a book entitled “How To Lie With Statistics.” The book discussed the many ways that information can be misrepresented to mislead an audience. We learned how a single set of data can be manipulated to tell two different stories – or multiple stories.

A textbook example of this phenomenon comes to us from an NBC/WSJ poll published over the weekend. This poll actually contained some positive results – that is, if you happen to be a Trump supporter. But, considering it’s an NBC poll, they do their best to cover up or at least to understate those numbers.

NBC’s article was entitled “‘A deep and boiling anger’: NBC/WSJ poll finds a pessimistic America despite current economic satisfaction.”

The first item that jumps out is when the writer makes her first comparison to October 2015 data, she dutifully adds “when the presidential election was being upended by the anti-establishment message of then-candidate Donald Trump.” Trump was far from the presumptive nominee in October 2015. Although he had the edge, the lead was bouncing back and forth between Trump and Ben Carson all month long. That data can be viewed here. In addition, it was believed that no matter who won the Republican primary, Hillary Clinton would win the presidency.

The writer tells us, “The latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds that — despite Americans’ overall satisfaction with the state of the U.S. economy and their own personal finances — a majority say they are angry at the nation’s political and financial establishment, anxious about its economic future, and pessimistic about the country they’re leaving for the next generation.

She immediately discounts the good news (for Trump) with the word “despite,” and gives us the bad news.

We are told that 69% of respondents are “satisfied with their overall financial situation today” but they do not tell us what the result was in 2015. I assume it was lower or they would have included it. Then, they quickly write that “a majority — 56 percent — also say they feel “anxious and uncertain because the economy still feels rocky and unpredictable. That’s down slightly from 61 percent in 2015.” I’m surprised that was included.

The writer reports that “70% of Americans say they’re angry at the political establishment.”

This number has not changed since October 2015 when Obama was the President. Instead of reporting that this “deep and boiling anger” at the political establishment began during Obama’s presidency and has remained at the same level, they present it in the title as if Trump is responsible for it. They want readers to believe that these numbers began to head south when Trump took office and have continued to drop ever since because he is so racist and divisive.

Issues & Insights’ John Merline compared this poll’s numerical results to the conclusions the writer drew from them. He wrote:

Sure, you can say that the anger has continued under Trump. But the story we’ve been told repeatedly for two years is that Trump is responsible for the current climate of hatred and discord. The fact that the poll debunks this narrative is newsworthy.

The results also state that 36% of respondents believe that race relations are currently either very good or fairly good. That’s up from 24% in July 2016, the waning days of the Obama administration.

Currently, “36% of Hispanics rate race relations as good, which is up from 23% in July 2016.”

Although 36% is not stellar, today’s data is up 12% and 13%, repectively from the 2015 data.

Because this result flies in the face of the what the mainstream media would have us believe, that Trump is sowing racial hatred, NBC ignores it. Instead, they focus on the finding that 56% think race relations have gotten worse under Trump.” And once again, they don’t tell you that number is precisely the same as it was in 2015. So, it was worse under Obama.

NBC’s analysis ignores the results of another question which asked if respondents were “satisfied that our political system is being shaken up and those who have been ignored for too long are now being heard and put first.” 52% were satisfied. This is surprisingly high because the media would have us believe that Trump only cares about the wealthy when, in reality, Trump connects very well with working Americans.

Finally, the poll offers a choice of two answers. Either a statement describes you very well or somewhat well. I realize that simply leaving it blank is an option, but that provides no distinction between those who feel a statement doesn’t describe them at all and those who don’t know.

In some cases, we see actual numbers, and in other cases, we just have to take the writer’s word for it. And still other answers are left out.

This is a BS poll and it’s conclusions are presented haphazardly. It’s smoke and mirrors and it is meant to mislead. Be prepared for a lot more like this in the next 15 months.

My colleague Brad Slager asked earlier today – who exactly is Joe Walsh running for?

Walsh’s main selling point seems to be that he’s not Trump, but Hillary also ran on that selling point and spectacularly failed.

Walsh wants a border wall, tighter immigration laws and tougher foreign policy. All things Trump ran on. So truly all there is left is “I’m not Trump”, which Walsh should probably just go ahead and make his campaign slogan.

“80-90% of my audience supports this President,” says Walsh. This tracks with current polling, which places GOP support of Donald Trump near 90%. He even gives anecdotal evidence in a prior interview that extends this challenging position. “The people I talk to privately tell me, ‘I can’t stand him but the Democrats are Socialists.’ Or, ‘I can’t stand him, Joe, but I like my tax cuts.’”

This means that even that small percentage sitting in opposition are not so eager to be swayed away, based on conditions that still favor Trump. So where exactly then is Walsh’s mandate to run coming from? It would have to be rooted in a personal animus because he is not entering to correct unfavorable conditions seen by voters. The only reason then is for him to serve as a poison pill in the primary, and negatively impact a popular GOP candidate.

Brad Slager is right. Walsh is a poison pill. Anthony Scaramucci isn’t directly connected to Walsh’s campaign as far as I can tell, but he was seen at a Biden fundraiser in the Hamptons over the weekend and he’s made no bones about opposing Trump in 2020. Could Scaramucci be “consulting” for the Walsh campaign, trying to drum up some financial support for a guy who could bump Trump off the ticket?

And as for minority Trump voters on the right and left? What will Walsh bring to the table for them? So far his most thoughtful message on race was telling CNN that he does not consider himself a racist but has “tweeted racist things” in the past.

Sorry, Joe. We are not buying it. Trump does shockingly well with minority voters (relatively speaking, for a Republican) and it’s not because he’s running around weeping about how he’s a racist but like…not really a racist. Trump is a baller. He’s flashy, he’s braggadocious and unapologetic. He waded in to the most hostile of political arenas in 2016 and told Black voters to give him a shot, to try something different and give him a chance to turn things around. Not everyone was convinced, but many were impressed.

Joe’s “inspiring” racial message is, yet again, “I’m not Trump”.

Sorry Joe, but a lot of Black voters love Trump and they love he doesn’t infantilize them by patronizing and droning on about his “privilege”. We don’t want that. We want a guy we can look at and say, “I wanna be that guy. I wanna be rich. I want to be powerful”. We don’t want a sugar daddy. We want a seat at the same table. With Trump, that’s what is happening.

What is Walsh offering us in place of that?

This.

Is this really who Never Trump is going to pin their hopes on?

I’m standing with the Black Conservatives Fund on this one. You’re canceled, Joe. Go home.
