Former Bill Clinton Spox Says Voting for Trump Makes You a Racist. Let’s Turn His Logic Around on Him.

Joe Lockhart, who was the press secretary for President Bill Clinton during his last two years in office, is boiling mad at President Trump in the aftermath of his feud with Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD). And if you are one of Trump’s supporters, he’s got a message for you:

Lockhart appeared on CNN‘s “New Day” on Sunday where he was interviewed by anchor Victor Blackwell, who on Saturday had launched into a viral short rant defending Baltimore against Trump’s attack. Here’s how how Lockhart responded when Blackwell asked him a surprisingly fair question about his tweet:

Blackwell: “Joe, you took it one step further. You actually — and I’m going to read your tweet. ‘Anyone who supports a racist or a racist strategy is a racist themselves. 2020 is a moment of reckoning for America. Vote for Donald Trump, and you are a racist. Don’t hide it like a coward. Wear that racist badge proudly and see how it feels.’

I’m going to read that sentence again: ‘Vote for Donald Trump, and you’re a racist.’ Americans who vote for the President because, let’s say, they’re firmly pro-life, they are racist because they believe that he is right on that issue no matter who the eventual Democratic nominee is, is pro-choice, that pro-life voter is a racist because they vote for Donald Trump?”

The former Bill Clinton White House press secretary doubled down as he responded: “I think so. I think racism only exists because it’s supported. If people didn’t support racism, you wouldn’t have racists.”

After recalling that there were “hints” of Trump’s racism in 2016, [Lockhart] continued:

“They’re making this an explicit strategy. They’re saying — and it’s a logical extension of his immigration strategy — they’re saying they want to divide America into two groups — whites and nonwhites — and that is a racist strategy. So my point is, if you go into the polls and when you say you support Donald Trump, then you’re supporting his racism, and that’s the foundation of being racist.”

Watch video of Lockhart’s remarks below:

After facing a wave of criticism for his tweet and appearance on CNN, he doubled down later:

Let’s just start off with the obvious point first here:

Right? Getting a lecture from a Clinton diehard about morals and ethics is like getting a lecture from Clinton himself on the the virtues of staying faithful in your marriage.

As I wrote earlier today, Trump’s criticisms about Cummings and his district are not about racism. Cummings is just one more in a long line of Democrats who have attacked both Trump and his policies, and Trump is doing what he always does when he is attacked: He attacks back.

But for purposes of discussion, let’s say Trump was a racist as Lockhart emphatically asserts. If that made everyone who supported him a “racist”, what does Lockhart’s standard say about about his own support for Bill Clinton?

Lockhart wasn’t just his spokesman from 1998-2000. Lockhart worked for the Clinton 1996 reelection campaign, too, enthusiastically supporting a second term. He was also the deputy press secretary for Clinton before he was promoted to the press secretary role in late 1998.

Clinton’s wandering eye, overly handsy nature, and propensity to sleep around on Hillary Clinton all were well-known by that time. Clinton had also by that time been accused of multiple instances of sexual assault and harassment.

So by Lockhart’s standards, he was endorsing adultery, sexual harassment, sexism, and possibly sexual assault in working for both the Clinton campaign and administration.

See how this works, Joe? Two can play at this game.

Bonus take from Brit Hume:

Ah, memories.

In a recent op-ed, Newsweek’s Domenica Ghanem claims that Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) is fighting for the white working class, even as they chant “Send Her Back.” Ghanem adds that “over the last month I have watched in awe as Rep. Ilhan Omar has responded to hate with not just grace, but policy.”

Grace? Ilhan Omar? Grace would mean she might express a little gratitude to the country which took her in as a refuge so many years ago, paid for her food, shelter and education and made it possible for her to enjoy the full, rich and free life she has today. Instead, she feels nothing but contempt for America.

Policy? Ghanem refers to Omar’s introduction of the Frank Adelmann Manufactured Housing Community Sustainability Act, a bill to stop people from being evicted from their mobile homes and the No Shame at School Act, which would make school lunches more affordable and stop efforts to shame kids whose families can’t afford their food.”

Both of these initiatives are directed toward lower income Americans who are already covered by existing government safety nets.

Sorry Ms. Ghanem. I’m not convinced.

When I think of Ilhan Omar, I think of her anti-Semitic remarks, her introduction of a House resolution to support the anti-Israel BDS movement, and the evil smile which crossed her face as she asked U.S. Special Envoy to Venezuela Elliott Abrams, “Do you think that massacre [a bloody conflict in San Salvador] was a fabulous achievement that happened under our watch?”

I remember the same evil smile when she told an audience that “ignorance was pervasive in this country” and her refusal to condemn Antifa and other terrorist groups. I also recall her reference to 9/11 as “some people did something,” the letter she wrote to a U.S. District Court judge asking for his compassion when “sentencing nine Minnesota Somali-American men convicted of joining the terror group ISIS.”

Grace? Fighting for white working class Americans? Not so much.

Apparently, I’m not alone. Many readers found Ms. Ghanem’s article to be completely divorced from reality. Here’s how others responded:

“How?”

“She’s done literally nothing. LMAO”

“Newsweek gives cover to blatant anti-semite. Who has sponsored zero bills to help anyone but BDS.”

“When you want to be the new ThinkProgress soooooo bad.”

“Oh Newsweek, we know you are a Dem cheerleader! @IlhanMN just said white men are the problem.”

“This is a farce. She is not and I repeat not working for the “white” anything. She wants this country “fundamentally” changed. Anti-American is the best description of this woman”

“Narrator: This is a joke.”

“I thought this magazine was on its last legs, but this is ridiculous.”

“Yes increasing the taxes of the middle class by 20-30% is a clear indicator of how much she cares about their “rights”

“And the facts to back up that statement would be?”

“Replying to @Newsweek @IlhanMN
$1”

“It’s amazing to me how much the media tries to help these people out.”

“We saw this same kind of fawning over Obama. Disgusting.”

“Name one thing she has done for anyone?”

“Hard pass.”

“Carry that water, Newsweek!”

“Y’all can not possibly believe this crap.”

“$15 an hour minimum wage is too much, it’s already causing people to cut back hours. Supporting abortion, the Green New Deal and open borders in no way helps the middle class. Newsweek has their socialist agenda right beside hers.”

“This lip-flapping is how
you got Trump elected,
and how you will do it again.”

“just because you say it doesn’t make it true. She’s a straight up extremist, and her disdain for America is palpable in the streets of her district”

“HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA”

Red Delicious: According to a Company Insider, Apple is Listening to You Have Sex

Ever get tired of just lolligaggin’ around with your boo and wanna get down to some skin-on-skin Barry White bizzzzzness?

Ever say, “Baby we gotta shut the world out right now and get down to US. MmmmMMM!”

Ever wanna stop the nonsense and get nekkid and Siri-US?

You probably have.

According to The Guardian, a whistleblower who works for Apple spilled the beans on the big fruit’s aural voyeurism: As it turns out, your Steve Jobs-approved device “regularly” records people having sex. Additionally, it captures “countless” other invasive moments and sends them to Apple contractors for review. As per the article, the intrusion allows them to grade Siri’s performance.

How about your performance? They’re listening.

From the report:

Although Apple does not explicitly disclose it in its consumer-facing privacy documentation, a small proportion of Siri recordings are passed on to contractors working for the company around the world. They are tasked with grading the responses on a variety of factors, including whether the activation of the voice assistant was deliberate or accidental, whether the query was something Siri could be expected to help with and whether Siri’s response was appropriate.

Apple says the data “is used to help Siri and dictation…understand you better and recognise what you say”.

So what are they listening to? This:

The whistleblower said: “There have been countless instances of recordings featuring private discussions between doctors and patients, business deals, seemingly criminal dealings, sexual encounters and so on. These recordings are accompanied by user data showing location, contact details, and app data.”

And more:

“The regularity of accidental triggers on the watch is incredibly high. … [Y]ou’d hear, like, people engaging in sexual acts that are accidentally recorded on the pod or the watch.”

Don’t worry — your romantic encounters are only recorded for less than a minute:

“The watch can record some snippets that will be 30 seconds – not that long but you can gather a good idea of what’s going on.”

Yeah, but what if that’s entirely how long the whole production lasts?

Everybody ain’t a long-distance runner; we’ve got some sprinters in the crowd.

Maybe the world should’ve seen this perverse sexual interest from the start, and this bedroom violation coming a mile away. Perhaps they were trying to tell us all along. Samples of Apple’s marketing campaigns over the years:

  • 1986 — “The Power To Be Your Best”
  • 1987 — “Hard Sell”
  • 1988 — “Pencil Test”
  • 2002 — “Big and Small Ideas”
  • 2003 Jet – “Are You Gonna Be My Girl?”
  • 1994 – “Before After”
  • 1995 — “Power Is”

As the company’s always claimed, it was indeed ahead of its time:

1992 — “John and Greg”

For those among us who have to face some sad reality, there was this:

1996 — “Mission Impossible”

And, worst of all, respectfully:

2005 — “Impossibly Small”

Given their interest in coitus, I fear most of all the April 2015 release that may have been their most disturbing omen of all: Apple Watch.

As I wrote earlier today, Democrats and the mainstream media are, as usual, in agreement and have declared tweets posted by President Trump this weekend critical of Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD-7) and his district as “racist.”

To recap, Trump had the audacity to echo what some of the same Democrats and media outlets ripping him now have said in so many words in the past about Baltimore (minus the criticisms of Cummings). Here’s some of what Trump wrote about Cummings and Baltimore that started the latest round of outrage:

“Rep. Elijah Cummings has been a brutal bully, shouting and screaming at the great men & women of Border Patrol about conditions at the Southern Border, when actually his Baltimore district is FAR WORSE and more dangerous. His district is considered the Worst in the USA. As proven last week during a Congressional tour, the Border is clean, efficient & well run, just very crowded. Cumming[s’] District is a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess. If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place.”

Fox News‘s Greg Gutfeld made a good point on Twitter Saturday on the issue of the President criticizing Cummings, noting Trump’s actions on race-related issues are at odds with the portrait Democrats and the media often paint of him:

The man has a point. A racist white President, after all, would not do things to help the black community.

I noted in my post this morning that it was a mistake for people to assume that Trump was racist simply because he criticized a black Congressman and a district that is predominantly black.

He’s an equal opportunity critic. He claps back at people who take off after him. No matter their race, no matter if they are a man or woman. And no matter the party. It doesn’t matter.

I made related points in a Twitter thread Sunday, also noting that The Usual Suspects are weakening definition of the word “racism” to mean only what liberals decide it means at any given time:

Simply put, the word “racist” (like the words “sexist” and “homophobe”) has been watered down to mean “anyone who disagrees with Democrats on race-related issues” and “any white person who criticizes a black Democrat.” We heard it non-stop during President Obama’s two terms in office, and Democrats have only escalated the use of the dishonest tactic during Trump’s term.

It’s insulting to actual victims of racism, and Democrats and media types who use the race card as a substitute for substantive arguments against Trump’s words and polices ought to be ashamed of themselves – assuming they have any shame left.

Tough Call For Liberals: Veiled Muslim Woman Shouts ‘God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve,’ At LGBT Activist

Westlake Legal Group 8900dda0-09bd-4fd8-986e-7457791bd72f-620x317 Tough Call For Liberals: Veiled Muslim Woman Shouts ‘God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve,’ At LGBT Activist religion progressives political correctness Muslim homophobia Gender Issues Front Page Stories Featured Story democrats Culture Allow Media Exception

An LGBT+ pride parade took place in the Walthamstow district of London on Saturday. At some point, a Muslim woman clad in a full burka was recorded shrieking at a male LGBT activist, who wore a rainbow flag as a cape.

The woman yelled, “Shame on you! God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.” She continued to repeat “Shame on you, shame on all of you. You despicable people, you shameless people.”

As a policeman tried to come between the two, she continued shouting.

Over the weekend, Yusuf Patel, a counter extremism practitioner, posted the video on twitter. It can be viewed below.

Patel appears to assign blame to the Muslim woman and he is probably right. All signs point to it and the majority of Muslims oppose LGBT+ groups. He tweeted, “Disgusting homophobic abuse at those on Waltham Forest Pride today…No matter what form hate comes in, we must stamp it out and say no to all forms of hate! Also, very importantly we cannot call out one form of hate but be silent/complicit on others.”

Patel told a reporter from The Independent he was “extremely disheartened to see such intolerance in my local area. We know there are growing hate incidents of antisemitism, anti-Muslim hatred and LGBT+ hate.”

What’s a liberal to do in a case like this, where both parties involved belong to protected identity groups?

Although it appears that the Muslim woman initiated the dispute, the video begins as the woman is already yelling at the activist. There is no definitive indication of who may have initiated the conflict or what caused it. Would the mere sight of a homosexual or a transgender trigger such anger? Possibly.

The local newspaper, The Metro, reported that as the activist walked away from the woman and the policeman, he said, “We still love you, you will not shame me.”

Stella Creasy, a member of the liberal Labour Party, represents the district in Parliament. She tweeted that she was “Gutted to see this and clear such hatred isn’t acceptable anywhere let alone in our home town – proud that many from all faiths and none today including Islam joined the Waltham Forest Pride march to show Walthamstow really does mean welcome.”

Although this confrontation did not include violence, police are investigating it as a potential hate crime.

A spokesperson from the Metropolitan Police said:

We are aware of footage circulating on social media of abuse directed at those taking part in the Waltham Forest Pride event and enquiries are taking place. Abusing someone because of their sexual orientation or gender identity is a hate crime and we would encourage victims and those who were there when this took place to come forward.

If you have been verbally or physically abused, harassed or attacked in any way by someone because you are or they think you are LGBT+ please report these crimes to the police.

I don’t know how they would ever be able to identify the woman because women do look rather alike in their burkas. In fact, I wrote a post last summer about the uproar following a comment by Boris Johnson, the newly minted British Prime Minister, that women dressed in burkas look like letter boxes. They do actually.

Hate crimes are on the rise in the UK. According to PJ Media:

Reported hate crimes on the basis of sexual orientation rose by 27 percent to 11,638 between 2017 and 2018, while hate crimes against transgender people rose by a third to 1,651 in the same period, The Independent reported. Religiously-motivated bias incidents — which the paper said were mostly directed at Muslims — rose by 40 percent to 8,336. Evidence is not required to report a hate crime.

The increase in the hate crime rate may have something to do with the UK’s enthusiastic embrace of political correctness in recent years, which seems to dwarf even that of the US Democratic Party.

Yes, Baltimore Is that Bad: PBS Specials and News Reports Show Just How Serious the Rat Infestation Is

As the media and Democrat politicians try to make President Donald Trump’s comments about the failures of Baltimore out to be the most racist thing ever uttered by a sitting President, people keep looking back into the past to see what the media and Democrats have said about Baltimore themselves.

Sure enough, it was discovered that the left has confessed to these problems multiple times in the past. One time, in particular, was the left-leaning “PBS,” which aired a documentary about the rat infestation that plagued the city. What’s more, it wasn’t released but two years ago.

The film was even covered by The Baltimore Sun, which has been on the front lines of making Trump out to a racist know-nothing despite the fact that the rag itself admitted to its trash and rat problem in various articles.

Short memories, or politically driven nonsense?

According to the Sun, the documentary “Rat Film” covered Baltimore’s urban war with rats, even highlighting how insurance companies have “redlined” various parts of the city that have been taken over by rats, and even paid actors to do “rat fishing,” where they cast a line down an alley with some bait and see if they can’t reel in a rodent:

“Rat Film,” which had its local premiere at May’s Maryland Film Festival, is alternately amusing and troubling. A parade of rat-centric characters troops through it, including one man who loves them so much he happily lets them climb on his head while he plays a flute; an exterminator who turns out to be a closet philosopher; a guy who hunts them down with a blowgun and almost religious fervor; and a homeless trio with a surprising, and decidedly gritty, musical bent.

Mayor Catherine Pugh said she could actually smell the rats in a news segment that aired in 2018.

And if the media can’t be believed, then how about Orkin, the company that makes its living off of pest control? According to them, Baltimore ranks 9th in terms of being the most infested city in America.

According to the pest control corporation, Baltimore ranks 9th.

There’s definitely a rat problem. It exists in Baltimore, and frankly, the infestation can also be found within the entirety of the Democratic complex, which includes its media. What Trump said isn’t at all inaccurate, and trying to paint him as a racist for having said the same things the Democrats have said in the past is a lazy attempt at lowering Trump’s poll numbers just in time for the 2020 elections.

Author of Seminal Christian Dating Guide Makes a Massive Announcement. His Old Church Responds

Westlake Legal Group moon-2106892_1280-620x414 Author of Seminal Christian Dating Guide Makes a Massive Announcement. His Old Church Responds Uncategorized The Sexes Sex religion marriage joshua harris i kissed dating goodbye Front Page Stories Featured Story dating Culture & Faith Culture covenant life church Christianity Allow Media Exception

In 1997, Josh Harris’s book, I Kissed Dating Goodbye, made a splash in some Christian circles.

It sold over a million copies.

He’d prayed, “God, let me write a book that would change the world.”

The how-to made an unusual claim. There were certainly some conventional ideas — No to homosexuality and sex before marriage — but the twenty-something’s plan for the best forever-love possible was a revolutionary act of faith: Don’t date.

He referred to conventional dating as “a training ground for divorce.”

Over the years, he’s heard horror stories from people who followed his book’s advice.

Sounds about right.

One person told him, “Your book was used against me like a weapon.”

In 2015, he stepped down as lead pastor of Maryland’s Covenant Life Church to attend graduate school in British Columbia. A year later, he began to question the relationship manual’s message.

He eventually provided an apologetic statement via his website.

In part, here’s what he had to say:

I no longer agree with its central idea that dating should be avoided. I now think dating can be a healthy part of a person developing relationally and learning the qualities that matter most in a partner…

In light of the flaws I now see in I Kissed Dating Goodbye, I think it’s best to discontinue its publication, as well other supplemental resources tied to it (this includes the two books I wrote after it whose content is similar). My publisher, whose encouragement in this process has been deeply meaningful to me, supports this decision and will not reprint the books after the current copies in their inventory are sold.

Josh gave a Tedx Talk in 2017, in which he outlined his wrong thinking:

“I was young, I was religiously zealous, I was certain, and I was restlessly ambitious. Youth, zeal, certainty, ambition…they have the tendency to set the world on fire. … I didn’t leave room for the idea that dating could be a healthy way of learning what you’re looking for in a long-term relationship, that it could be a part of growing personally. I gave the impression that there was one formula that you could follow, and if you followed that, you’d be happily married, God would bless you, and you’d have a great sex life and marriage. Obviously, the real world doesn’t work that way. … There was a lot of fear inside of me that I transferred into my writing. And fear’s never a good motive.”

In 2018, he released I Survived I Kissed Dating Goodbye, a documentary re-examining his freshman attempt at authorship.

Well, now there’s somethin’ else that’s fresh:

The father of three has bailed on his marriage.

And he’s no longer a Christian.

He posted the announcement on Instagram over the weekend, which included an apology to gay people:

My heart is full of gratitude. I wish you could see all the messages people sent me after the announcement of my divorce. They are expressions of love though they are saddened or even strongly disapprove of the decision.

I am learning that no group has the market cornered on grace. This week I’ve received grace from Christians, atheists, evangelicals, exvangelicals, straight people, LGBTQ people, and everyone in-between. Of course there have also been strong words of rebuke from religious people. While not always pleasant, I know they are seeking to love me. (There have also been spiteful, hateful comments that angered and hurt me.)

The information that was left out of our announcement is that I have undergone a massive shift in regard to my faith in Jesus. The popular phrase for this is “deconstruction,” the biblical phrase is “falling away.” By all the measurements that I have for defining a Christian, I am not a Christian. Many people tell me that there is a different way to practice faith and I want to remain open to this, but I’m not there now.

Martin Luther said that the entire life of believers should be repentance. There’s beauty in that sentiment regardless of your view of God. I have lived in repentance for the past several years—repenting of my self-righteousness, my fear-based approach to life, the teaching of my books, my views of women in the church, and my approach to parenting to name a few. But I specifically want to add to this list now: to the LGBTQ+ community, I want to say that I am sorry for the views that I taught in my books and as a pastor regarding sexuality. I regret standing against marriage equality, for not affirming you and your place in the church, and for any ways that my writing and speaking contributed to a culture of exclusion and bigotry. I hope you can forgive me.

To my Christians friends, I am grateful for your prayers. Don’t take it personally if I don’t immediately return calls. I can’t join in your mourning. I don’t view this moment negatively. I feel very much alive, and awake, and surprisingly hopeful. I believe with my sister Julian that, “All shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well.”

In a letter to the congregation (posted online by a author Julie Roys), Covenant Life Interim Senior Pastor Kevin Rogers addressed Josh’s abandonment of his family and faith. Here are a few excepts:

These updates are hard to hear. We love Josh and Shannon. For most of us, Josh isn’t just some distant public figure. He’s a beloved former pastor and friend. So this news isn’t just a lot to process theoretically. It hits home personally.

Several times Paul mentions former Christian leaders ‘swerving from,’ ‘wandering from,’ or ‘making shipwreck’ of their faith. So while this is sad and confusing, it isn’t new. … Paul says some had gone off course theologically. Others behaved in ways that violated Christian conscience. For others, it was greed. In every case, Paul’s hope was for redemption and restoration. That these leaders would develop ‘love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.’ (1 Tim 1:5) That should be our hope and prayer for Josh as well.

Personally, it’s hard for me to imagine how anyone could take seriously the marital wisdom of not dating. Then again, they didn’t date in the Old Testament, either.

Still, if contemporary culture allows you to take as many years as you wish to get ice cream and go on hayrides in order to decide whether you’d like to made a go of it, why waste the opportunity?

As for Josh’s faith and family, hopefully he’ll get things figured out. If not, it looks like he’s on course to experience a whole lot of the things he once dismissed.

-ALEX

-ALEX

All the Right People Are Sweating After John Ratcliffe Is Nominated for DNI

As I wrote on yesterday, Dan Coats is done as Director of National Intelligence. He leaves behind him a wake of questionable actions and stonewalling in the face of legitimate investigative requests. While I’m sure Coats himself is a perfectly nice guy, he wasn’t the right person for that job. The intel agencies did not need a protector to sweep corruption under the rug via strained claims of classification.

Now that Coats is moving on, his replacement has been announced as Rep. John Ratcliffe and that has all the right people gnashing their teeth.

That’s “Fusion Ken,” who’s made a living shilling for the CIA, including helping push stories to cover for their misdeeds. He gained his nickname by relentlessly parroting Fusion GPS talking points (which were obviously being fed to him) for the last three years. Under Obama, he was exposed for working with CIA officials in order to help spin the former President’s drone program, which was famous for it’s collateral damage.

We are just getting started though. There are plenty more of the expected reactions making the rounds.

Rep. Ratcliffe is on the House Intelligence committee, but he’s a “television character” according to Sen. Murphy. For reference, Dan Coats had the same level of experience, serving one term on the Senate Intelligence committee. Why the change in standard?

Here’s Joe Scarborough doing his typical routine, i.e. calling Ratcliffe a “fascist.”

These are our moral and mental betters I’m told. A TV host who cheated on his wife, married his co-host, and now rants about fascism constantly while having no actual idea what fascism is. Joe was also in Congress at one point. I can’t imagine why the country has had the issues it’s had given these people make up most of our “elite.”

But the best one was no doubt John Brennan, who was DNI himself at one point.

Brennan has shown himself to be a rabid partisan. He’s also at the center of the scandal involving the origins and continuation of the Russia investigation, even as the evidence waned. Putting “the nation first” in Brennan’s eyes means running your own unelected fourth branch of government, free from oversight and pesky legalities. Brennan is no doubt sweating at what could be exposed now that Bill Barr is looking into all this. With Ratcliffe as DNI, he can also use his authority to cooperate with Barr in ways Coats refused to do.

Arthur Schwartz chronicled a few more examples of the talking points going out regarding Ratcliffe.

Absolutely amazing how all those politicians and media members suddenly started using the exact same phrase to describe Coats. Just a coincidence, I’m sure of it.

Here’s how I know Ratcliffe is the right man for the job. Because all of the people cited above think he’s not. These are the same people who spent years pushing the Russian collusion hoax and have done everything in their power to cover up for malfeasance within our intelligence community. No one is above the law and that includes bureaucrats hiding behind faux claims of secrecy. DNI needs an outsider. Someone who will come in and stop the games and self-preservation. Ratcliffe looks like a good choice to do just that.

Violence In Elijah Cummings’s District Is So Bad His Constituents Can Qualify For Political Asylum At the Mexican Border

The White House office responsible for fighting illegal drug use has focused for nearly a decade on youths smoking marijuana instead of a broader strategy that would sufficiently target adult drug users, according to a study commissioned by a Senate committee. (AP Photo/Susan Walsh)

Every once in a while a couple of great stories come together to prove one or more important points. This is one of those occasions.

A significant portion of the illegal immigration problem on our southern border is Central American in origin. For the first time ever, the number of illegals from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and Nicargua, collectively, have surpassed those originating in Mexico. Many of them are drawn by the lure of political asylum. In the past, political asylum was restricted to people who had a well founded fear of persecution based on something like race or religion or political beliefs. And the persecution had to be on the part of the government. Now political asylum is on the table if you’re the victim of domestic violence or drug cartels are operating in your country. And so you get stories like this:

In a small town tucked in the hills outside Tegucigalpa, there is a stuffed gray bunny rabbit that knows a little girl’s secrets. “I tell him all my things,” she says. “About how I’m doing, and when I feel sad.” She feels sad a lot lately. “I start thinking about things that I shouldn’t be thinking,” she says.

There are a lot of things she shouldn’t be thinking. She is 12 years old and just weeks away from giving birth to a baby.

Sofia and her mom told me her story when we met at a women’s shelter in mid-April. Sofia (like others interviewed for this story, she asked me not to use her real name) was raped by a family member of her mom’s boyfriend. She still doesn’t totally understand what pregnancy means or what childbirth entails, but she knows the delivery is looming, and that scares her. “At first, she said that she did not want to have the baby,” Sofia’s mom told me. “She said that she wanted to commit suicide.” When doctors told Sofia she was pregnant and explained that pregnancy meant she was going to have a baby, Sofia, in her soft, small voice, asked whether she could have a doll instead.

When Sofia’s mom found out about the rape, she reported it to the police, and now the man who did it is in jail. But his family kept threatening them, and Sofia and her mom have good reason to worry about what happens once he’s out. Most crimes like this—more than 90 percent—aren’t even prosecuted in Honduras. The few women who do see their attackers go to jail are offered little protection when those sentences end. “If he comes out,” Sofia’s mom says, “I am afraid for my life and her life, too.”

The story goes on to list a handful of anecdotes, because the plural of anecdote in political reporting is “data,” showing how women from Central America aren’t safe there and because the aren’t safe they should be granted asylum in the US.

The second story is this past weekend’s dustup between President Trump and Democrat Representative and race-pimp, Elijah Cummings. Trump, rightfully, in my opinion, called out Cummings over the fact that that one of the most significant areas of Cummings’s madly gerrymandered district

Westlake Legal Group Maryland-7-congressional-district-620x550 Violence In Elijah Cummings’s District Is So Bad His Constituents Can Qualify For Political Asylum At the Mexican Border Politics Honduras Front Page Stories Featured Story elijah cummings donald trump democrats crime baltimore Allow Media Exception

is overwhelmingly black West Baltimore. If you’ve ever watch The Wire you’ve seen a pretty faithful representation of West Baltimore in the allegorical “Hamsterdam” area.

Here are a couple of vignettes on the level of violence in Elijah Cummings’s district.

How do these stories come together? I saw this tweet by Intercept writer Lee Fang.

To be clear, I have no bromance with Fang, quite the opposite. Back in his days of writing for ThinkProgress, he had a tiny little hard-on of Erick. Here are links to old RedState posts about Fang. But, I was intrigued and found that not only was he correct, but Baltimore looks positively safe alongside East St. Louis, IL.

So, if Baltimore has a higher murder rate than Honduras and people from Honduras are getting political asylum in the US because of the endemic violence, what the hell should we be doing for residents of Baltimore?
