Bill de Blasio Learns Quoting Che Guevara in Miami is Even Less Popular than Killing Groundhogs

New York City’s groundhog-killing mayor and Democratic Presidential candidate Bill de Blasio was already unlikely to win his party’s nomination, but his trip to Florida this week was an especially epic disaster. Struggling to get attention in an insanely crowded primary, de Blasio made headlines for all the wrong reasons, as he followed an awkward debate performance with the use of a quote infamously associated with Che Guevara, drawing sharp rebukes from Florida politicians on both sides of the aisle.

The incident happened when de Blasio went to a protest of striking workers at the Miami International Airport. De Blasio gave remarks in support of the workers and ended his speech with “Hasta la victoria siempre!” which roughly translates to “Ever on to victory!”

The phrase was strongly associated with Che Guevara, the sociopathic Argentinian revolutionary who personally murdered countless Cuban civilians — including children — in his efforts to help dictator Fidel Castro rise to power, and became a mantra for Guevara and the Castro regime. In 2016, Raul Castro included it in his televised speech to announce that the elder Castro had died.

As the Miami Herald noted, Guevara is “one of the most hated historical figures in Miami,” with many Cuban exiles and their children and grandchildren living in the area.

Republicans and Democrats sharply condemned de Blasio’s Guevara quote as ignorant and offensive.

State Senators Jose Javier Rodriguez and Annette Taddeo, both Miami-area Democrats, slammed de Blasio for quoting a “murderous guerrilla,” calling his comments unacceptable and demanding he apologize, words echoed by the Miami-Dade Democratic Party.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), who was born in Miami to Cuban exile parents, denounced de Blasio’s use of the Guevara quote, and posted several tweets pointing out Guevara’s murderous history.

After a few hours of the bipartisan onslaught, De Blasio offered up a bizarre apology — claiming that he did not know it was a Guevara quote and he “did not mean to offend anyone who heard it that way.”

As the Herald noted in their coverage, de Blasio is not unfamiliar with Cuba or the history of the communist revolution there, having honeymooned in Cuba (against U.S. law at the time) and actually getting busted for the exact same faux pas during his mayor’s race in 2013, using the same quote and being called out by the local press for quoting the murderous Guevara.

Rubio was among those skeptical of de Blasio’s excuse, noting the mayor’s long history studying Latin American political issues and direct experiences with the communist Sandinista movement in Nicaragua and with Castro-controlled Cuba.

“But he had NO IDEA he was quoting Che Guevara today,” added Rubio sarcastically. “It was all just an incredible coincidence.”

Few oddsmakers expect de Blasio to win the Democratic presidential nomination, or even be picked as the winner’s vice presidential running mate, but his gaffe presents broader problems for Florida Democrats who must secure a majority of the state’s Hispanic vote in order to win in 2020.

Florida Democratic Party Chair Terrie Rizzo did what she could to distance her party from de Blasio, noting that he “does not speak for Floridians or the Florida Democratic Party,” but the story had already generated a swarm of headlines and social media posts.

Meanwhile, Florida Republicans have been working to associate Democratic candidates with socialism, such as this banner hung up near the debate location. “Miami: No socialismo, no comunismo, somos capitalista” (“Miami: No socialism, no communism, we are capitalists.”)

As I wrote yesterday, it’s been utterly appalling to watch House and Senate Democrats play political games on the border issue for the last several months, first denying there was a crisis at the border and then all of a sudden saying there was and that it was Trump’s fault when things got progressively worse.

It’s been even more maddening that the mainstream media has allowed them to get away with their duplicity, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) in particular.

On Thursday, however, one journalist stepped up to the plate and interviewed Ocasio-Cortez on the battle over the much-needed humanitarian aid that would help alleviate some of the issues the Congresswoman has complained about.

Jake Tapper from CNN had AOC on as a guest to talk about her steadfast refusal to vote in favor of a border funding bill in spite of the fact that she has been one of the more vocal critics of the deteriorating conditions on the ground. His line of questions on the House bill versus the Senate bill led to a pretty embarrassing self-own for Ocasio-Cortez.

The Daily Caller reports:

“We passed a House version of this bill which had far more humanitarian provisions and accountability for the facilities that are abusing our kids at our border and Mitch McConnell immediately smacked it down in order to pass a Senate bill that has an enormous amount of funding for [the] military” she continued.

CNN host Jake Tapper asked, “But congresswoman, didn’t you vote against the House bill as well?”

“I did, I did,” she responded.

On Monday night, Ocasio-Cortez was insisting she could never support the Pelosi-supported emergency assistance bill.

John Sexton at Hot Air also noticed:

Jake Tapper asked AOC about not voting for the House bill she is outraged didn’t pass in the Senate. She admits her no vote was about abolishing ice. To his credit, Tapper points out that opposing the Senate bill and the House bill makes it seem like she’s more concerned about sending signals on her progressive issues than getting help to CBP and the kids who need it. AOC says she wanted a clean bill with no riders and poison pills. So why did she demand that Pelosi add stuff to the House bill that made it less palatable to the Senate? She literally did the opposite of what she says she wanted to see here, i.e. a clean bill where people are thinking about kids instead of politics.

Bingo.

Watch the video clips below to see how she tries and fails to use pretzel logic to explain her position:

Unfortunately for AOC, the “message” that she’s sent with her duplicitous behavior on the border crisis is that she’s more interested in virtue signaling and playing politics with people’s lives than actually trying to help suffering kids and families at the border. She exposed herself when she endorsed the campaign to get Wayfair to stop selling beds to the government to use for kids at the border to sleep on, and she exposed herself again in her interview with Tapper.

It’s about d*mned time a journalist called her out.

Here’s Why Joe Biden Was Last Night’s Biggest Loser

Westlake Legal Group 07369433-7271-4d0b-9801-c6981d40fe57 Here’s Why Joe Biden Was Last Night’s Biggest Loser Primary Campaign Politics loser kamala harris Joe Biden Illegal Immigration Guns General Election Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story Elizabeth Warren donald trump democrats debate Bernie Sanders Barack Obama Abortion 2020 election

Mercifully, the first Democrat primary debate is in the books.

As Joe Cunningham wrote up, there were some pretty distinct winners and losers on night two. No doubt, Kamala Harris helped herself theoretically last night. She managed to interrupt at the right time throughout the event and did a decent job of presenting herself as above the fray. Of course, her actual remarks were just a rehash of every unhinged far-left talking point, but if these debates are more about style than substance (and they are), she did what she needed to do.

Of course, the most talked about moment of the night was Harris hitting Joe Biden over the issue of race. From his comments about segregationists to bringing up his opposition to forced busing in the 1970s, she went down a list of what were obviously pre-planned attacked. They were unfair attacks, but effective nonetheless. Biden looked dazed and was unable to come up with a salient response, especially as he struggled to tow the line between rebutting Harris and not appearing to bully her back.

These hits left Biden’s team scrambling after the debate. Biden did a few pre-scheduled interviews but he didn’t even appear in the spin room to talk to reporters. His staff cited before the debate that he’d be too tired to answer questions in that format and all that does is reinforce the idea that he’s too old and low-energy for the job.

Despite all that, I’m not sure I buy that Harris is suddenly ascendant while Biden is mortally wounded. These debates are rarely so decisive that they bring someone from 7% into competition with a guy at 38%. Harris also has her own issues with connecting with voters and yelling at Biden at a debate most voters didn’t watch is not going to dynamically change this race.

Now, with that said, I still believe Joe Biden was the biggest loser but it’s not for the reasons most are talking about.

Biden’s appeal has always been his elect-ability. That’s why he’s currently blowing out the rest of the field. It’s not because he’s an incredibly attractive candidate or that his ideas line up perfectly with the left-wing of his party. If it were about the latter, Bernie Sanders would be dominating. But the great myth of the Democrat party is that all their voters are hardcore Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez fans pining for Medicare-for-All and gun confiscation. Polling not only says they aren’t, but that a majority of the party are more moderate than they are radical. They’d rather have Barack Obama’s third term, deportation of illegal immigrants and all, than Elizabeth Warren.

To this point, Biden has represented a continuation of that. He’s been the safe pick. The guy who isn’t embracing every insane left-wing idea to the point where he’ll diminish his chance in a general but will do what it takes to beat Donald Trump.

That changed last night.

When asked if he’d support healthcare for illegal aliens, a distinctly fringe idea in this country, Biden raised his hand. When asked if they’d decriminalize border crossings, an insane policy that would serve as a magnet for migrants, Biden raised his hand. Even more extreme, he then said that he would not deport anyone who arrived in the United States illegally as long as they didn’t commit any other crimes.

On the question of guns, Biden endorsed the idea of mandatory bio-metric guns, a position that will not play in the moderate, mid-west states that value 2nd amendment rights. In regards to healthcare, the former Vice President painted it as a right and called for a public option, something that Obama shunned a decade ago.

Even before the debate, Biden had flip-flopped on the Hyde amendment, a popular, long time compromise among Americans that we aren’t going to spend taxpayer money on abortion. Once holding almost pro-life positions on the subject, Biden has went as far left as possible, now supporting no restrictions on the barbaric practice.

Lastly, Biden also reinforced his support for raising taxes on the middle class last night. While he may describe it as “tax cuts for the rich,” the truth is that repealing Trump’s tax cuts would raise taxes on around 80% of the country.

What all this means is that Biden hasn’t just hurt himself in the primary, he’s hurt himself in a possible general election match-up. The ads are already writing themselves for Donald Trump, who will do everything he can to paint Biden as out of touch and too liberal in states like Wisconsin and Ohio. How is a blue collar worker going to respond to a candidate who endorses open borders and paying for illegal immigrant healthcare? The answer is not well.

All Joe Biden had to do was not be crazy. If he had stayed in the moderate lane, he’d have not only had an easier time in the primary, he’d have been in good position to compete with Donald Trump in 2020. That’s gone now though. He blew it all up to try to appease the clapping seals in the audience of that debate. Trump is positioned to ravage him on all manner of left-wing positions Biden has suddenly endorsed. Meanwhile, he didn’t actually do anything to help himself with the far left of his own party, who still won’t support him.

Joe Biden bludgeoned his chances from all angles last night and he walked away making no one happy, instead undermining his appeal in both the primary and the general election. For that reason, he was the biggest loser.

All 2020 Dem Candidates Support Medical Coverage For Illegal Immigrants; The Majority Of Americans Do Not

Westlake Legal Group Dem-Debate-620x317 All 2020 Dem Candidates Support Medical Coverage For Illegal Immigrants; The Majority Of Americans Do Not Health care for illegals Health Care Front Page Stories Featured Story 2020 Democratic Debate (second) 2020

On Thursday night, 2020 Democratic Debate moderator Savannah Guthrie asked those candidates whose healthcare plans would provide coverage for illegal immigrants to raise their hands. Ten hands went up.

President Trump, who is currently in Japan attending the G-20 Summit, tweeted, “All Democrats just raised their hands for giving millions of illegal aliens unlimited healthcare. How about taking care of American Citizens first!? That’s the end of that race!”

Pew Research and the Department of Homeland Security estimate the number of undocumented immigrants to be just north of 11 million. A Yale/MIT researcher puts that figure at 22 million. Either way, the price tag of medical care for this group would be staggering. But, I know, priorities.

Polls have shown that the majority of Americans are not on board with this. A Rasmussen poll conducted June 11-12 found that “31% of likely voters support making health care benefits available to low-income illegal immigrants under the age of 26 in their state. Fifty-five percent (55%) are opposed, while 13% are not sure.”

On Thursday, California became the first state to offer health care to illegals. Governor Gavin Newsom signed a budget which includes $98 million to provide full health benefits to 90,000 undocumented immigrants under the age of 26. Although the $98 million price tag is a small portion of the state’s $213 billion budget, these initiatives have a way of “expanding” rapidly.

The new provision, called MediCal, includes the “individual mandate” which imposes a fine on people who choose not to purchase health insurance. This feature was part of Obama’s Affordable Care Act until it was repealed in 2017.

Many Americans who were forced to pay this fine did not purchase health care because they could not afford it, which I assume will be true of many Californians who will be affected by it. Yet they will now be required to subsidize the health care of illegals.

The tax burden on California’s “wealthy” continues to increase. According to Forbes Magazine, the average combined state and local income tax burden ranges from 11%  to 13.30%, making California the 45th worst state for taxpayers in their 2016 survey. At a certain point, upper middle-class and wealthy residents will simply leave the state. Between 2006 and 2017, over 1.2 million California residents did just that.

Currently, the state’s employee pension is underfunded (estimated at 65% of future liabilities), their homeless population is now over 130,000 and there is filth on the streets in their largest cities. Rather than addressing their own serious problems, lawmakers have taken on a new obligation.

If you look at California as a microcosm of America, it’s clear that the same arguments apply.

But, for this field of 2020 candidates, socialism is the flavor of the day. If one declares support for a new entitlement, the others quickly follow suit to the point where it’s hard to differentiate between them.

This will be a problem for them.

During the debate, South Bend, IN Mayor Pete Buttigieg said, “This is not about a handout. This is about an insurance program.” No, Mr. Buttigieg, this is most definitely about a handout and it’s one that the country should not take on.

Let’s take care of Americans first.

The Winners And Losers Of The Second Democratic Debate

Westlake Legal Group joe-biden-620x349 The Winners And Losers Of The Second Democratic Debate Pete Buttigieg michael bennett marianne williamson Kirsten Gillibrand kamala harris John Hickenlooper Joe Biden Front Page Stories Featured Story eric swalwell democrats Democratic Debate Bernie Sanders Andrew Yang Allow Media Exception 2020

It’s over, folks. We made it.

The second night is complete, and we are now able to relax and enjoy the weekend while trying to forget what happened on stage tonight.

With the second set of ten candidates, you did not have the same level of animosity and interruptions that you have Wednesday night. While things seemed more civil, it made it tougher for candidates to stand out. So, it’s harder this time to pick who won and who lost. That said, I once again subjected myself to this for you all so you don’t have to think too much about this.

Again, a couple points on how this is judged. First of all, saying someone “won” is not saying they are right or that I agree with them. It means that, objectively, they had a good night. Secondly, this is about their forcefulness, composure, and passion more than it is about the strength of their ideas. And lastly, this is a ranking of who did the best on television. It is an important look, but it is not about their ability to run a campaign, but more a reflection of how their campaigns run them.

The Winners: Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Michael Bennett

These three – Bennett, Harris, and Sanders did something the other candidates did not do well: They drew blood from the top candidate. I mentioned earlier it was Biden’s to lose (and I think he did – see below), and these three knocked him down to the loser’s table.

Starting with Sanders, he was obviously the guy at Biden’s heels. Posing a stark contrast between himself and Biden on the issue of the Iraq War, he focused a lot on Biden’s time as a Senator, not as a Vice President. It destroyed Biden’s attempts to tie himself to Barack Obama, which is the only way he could really get any applause tonight.

Harris was able to go after Biden in a way no one else on stage could: She hit him on the segregationist comments, and did so way more aggressively than Corey Booker did this past week when asked by the media about it. She can come in both from Biden’s left and as a member of the black community, which voted for Obama and not Biden.

Then there is Bennett, who I did not expect to come out swinging at all, much less at Biden. But he is the one who most clearly got under Biden’s skin with his comments on Bush Tax Cuts. Biden talked about his ability to work with Repbulicans, and Bennett tore him down on it.

Sanders and Harris needed to win and knock Biden down a peg. Bennett needed to show some personality and something beyond just platform talking points, and he did.

The Losers: Joe Biden, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Andrew Yang

Like I said, Joe Biden did lose. He was the only one who had a job of not losing to be able to win, and he couldn’t even do that. His talking points were easily torn apart by both moderators and other candidates, he relied far too much on Obama’s legacy to help him out, and he could not make himself his own man.

Gillibrand had very little time to say really anything and stand out, and when she did, she was not memorable at all other than being frankly annoying (as a note, the most annoying people both nights were New York politicians so I think we see a pattern forming). I can’t really think of anything that was really noteworthy other than the fact that she answered her first question and it felt like it was twenty or thirty minutes into the debate.

Then there was Yang. I think. Couldn’t really tell because he was addressed like twice the whole night, and one of those times was his closing statement. Here’s an eclectic (read: very out there) guy in terms of personality and policy, and it was totally toned down. This was his chance to make an impression, and I don’t think he did.

The Also-Rans: Marianne Williamson, Eric Swalwell, John Hickenlooper, Pete Buttigieg

Let’s get this out of the way: Mayor Pete was not bad, and could have gotten into the winner’s circle, but he played it very safe. Too safe, in fact. I think he is probably a close fourth place, but he did not go the extra mile to make it into the top three. The same goes for Swalwell, who actually had a really good night, but his statements were so riddled with cliches that it was more corny than serious.

Hickenlooper was okay, made some points that I think were smarter than some of the others, and generally wasn’t terrible – a low bar, to be sure – but he too didn’t stand out nearly enough. Williamson, meanwhile, had very little time but did make use of it (unlike Yang). However, I don’t think she is taking herself seriously as a candidate and was just able to bring her activism to the stage. That’s actually not bad for her, but I don’t think she’s trying to win so much as get her voice heard.

The problem with this whole debate, though, is that it was boring. It lacked the passion of last night’s. In fact, the most passionate part of the night was Chuck Todd asking questions (Note to Chuck: I appreciate the effort, but not even Jazz Hands could make this debate more interesting. Good on you for trying, though.). The whole thing was just… tired, I guess? It was a strangely quiet night, and it really didn’t do any of the candidates any favors.

The ZSL London Zoo is letting everyone know that animals are gay.

In celebration of the notion that two penguins are gay, the zoo is giving the whole joint a “Pride makeover.”

On July 5th, in addition to its normal (18+ only) Zoo Night festivities, the London Zoo will teach attendees about gender, mating, and same-sex animal pairings.

From a press release:

On top of Zoo Nights’ packed schedule of activities, visitors will be able to learn about gender and mating in the animal kingdom at a Pride-themed talk, where they’ll discover just how common same-sex pairings are – from penguins and pandas to goats and giraffes. Visitors can check out the Zoo’s pride of lions, enjoy delicious street food from around the world, and score a hole-in-one at the Zoo’s new mini-golf course.

And if that ain’t enough, they’ve designed a special banner for Penguin Beach — home of the touted tuxedoed two:

“Get Over It,” in case you didn’t know, is the slogan for a gay anti-bullying campaign.

The zoo says Ronnie and Reggie — the fabulously homosexual penguin pair — got together in 2014.

They adopted an abandoned egg a year later, sharing parenting duties until the little chick left the nest.

According to the zoo’s website, the two birds “remain as strong as ever and are often found snuggled up in their nest box together.”

Of the 93 penguins living at the facility, the London Zoo claims Ronnie and Reggie aren’t the only ones who are gay:

The duo share their home with 91 other penguins, including fellow same sex couples Nadja and Zimmer and Dev and Martin, as well as one-year-old Rainbow who hatched during Pride celebrations last year and will celebrate her first birthday this weekend.

Who knew nature was so gay, right there in front of everybody, this whole time?

The Zoo may have a bone to pick with some people in France.

As reported by The Telegraph:

Penguins are not gay, despite new evidence of homosexual behaviour in the wild, they are just “same sex flirting” until they find a mate, according to a new study.

The homosexual behaviour of male king penguins has already been noted in zoos.

Now in a new study, scientists have found the evidence of male pairs in the wild. The research found that more than a quarter of the colony in Antarctica were in same sex partners, mostly two males.

In the past, it was claimed that penguins could not discern between the sexes because they looked alike. Male pairs in zoos in the US and Germany have hatched and reared ‘adopted’ chicks.

However, the new study by the Centre for Functional and Evolutionary Ecology in Montpellier, France found that the penguins are only pairing up with other males because they are “lonely.”

There are not enough females in the colony and the males have high levels of testosterone, which drives them to engage in mating displays – even if it is with other males.

Professor F Stephen Dobson, one of the authors of the study published in the journal Ethology, said the number of same sex pairs was actually lower than expected. When the colony was studied over time he found all the ‘gay’ penguins chose a heterosexual partner. A female pair also ‘split up’ to raise an egg with male partner.

What are your thoughts? Please let us all know in the Comments section.

And enjoy information about an all-gay zoo, the superiority of gay dads, furry gay parents having furry gay kids, and hatching rocks in the video below, “Gay Penguins Make the Best Parents.”

After six months of fighting, the demagoguery, the lies, and the obscene amount of virtue signaling from Democrats like AOC and several presidential candidates over the border crisis, Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) took to the Twitter machine Thursday morning to drop a MOAB on funding deniers and their obtuse apologists in a series of tweets.

Crenshaw started out on his official House Twitter account by using a video clip to note that President Obama had a very similar position on the illegal immigration issue that the Trump administration has now. “What’s changed?” he asked, rhetorically:

He then pointed out that what little Congress has done over the last several years hasn’t been enough, that “people are dying”, and that things must change now:

Later, he retweeted a series of comments from GOP House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy on how House Dems kept blocking attempts at border funding. McCarthy concluded by saying there was no other conclusion to draw other than that House Democrats were just playing politics on the border crisis rather than genuinely trying to resolve the issue.

Here are McCarthy’s tweets for context – Crenshaw’s response is below them:

He’s right. It’s been utterly appalling to watch House and Senate Democrats play political games on the border issue for the last several months, first denying there was a crisis at the border and then all of a sudden saying there was and that it was Trump’s fault when things got progressively worse. It’s been even more maddening that the mainstream media has allowed them to get away with their duplicity.

Later in the day, after the news broke that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had caved on the funding bill, Never Trumper Jennifer Rubin tweeted out this absurd hot take on Pelosi’s actions:

The freshman Congressman was. not. having it:

“Misleading”? Crenshaw was being a gentleman, of course. What Rubin was doing is what many of us would call “lying”.

For now, Crenshaw and his fellow Republicans have won the battle on humanitarian aid but the long war over how to tackle the illegal immigration crisis will still continue. Hopefully not for too much longer, because Crenshaw is 100% correct in saying things can’t stay the way they are on the southern border. They just can’t.

Democratic Debate, Round 2: What To Expect When You’re Lamenting

Well, it’s time for the second round of the first Democratic debate. After last night’s glitch- and interruption-riddled debacle, one can only hope that tonight’s is even more of a trainwreck. The same rules for viewing will apply as last night: NBC-exclusive, so catch it at 9/8c on NBC, MSNBC, and Telemundo.

Tonight’s cast features the Democratic front-runner, Joe Biden, along with Bernie Sanders, Pete Buttigieg, Kamala Harris, Michael Bennett, Marianne Williamson, Kirsten Gillibrand, Andrew Yang, John Hickenlooper, and Eric Swalwell.

As last night’s was Elizabeth Warren’s to lose (and I maintain she almost did by not winning it outright), so too is tonight’s Biden’s to lose. Despite a full assault from major media outlets, Biden has stayed on top in polling, but he has to deal with Bernie Sanders, who leads the far-left progressives, and Kamala Harris, who will try to take up the middle ground between the two.

Buttigieg could also make a stand here after taking a beating over his handling of Black Lives Matter protestors, but the rest of the slate is just there as a recognition of their fundraising and name-recognition efforts thus far. It’s very difficult to see any of them making a good impression – though one could have argued the same about John Delaney before last night’s debate.

Here at RedState, we will also be covering the debate on our front page with live commentary. If you check out RedState’s contributor list on Twitter, you’ll get live updates from many of us there as well.

Prepare your drinks now, friends. It’s going to be a long night.

Why the Democratic Debate Bored You to Tears

Wednesday’s Democratic debates brought in a decent amount of viewers but paled in comparison to the viewership during the debates of the 2016 elections.

According to The Hill, NBC brought in some 10 million viewers. A good crowd to be sure, but if the Democrats were looking for a blockbuster night, they didn’t get it:

The 10 million viewership number only pertains to NBC. MSNBC and Telemundo also simulcasted the debate. Those numbers are also expected Thursday afternoon from Nielsen.

For context, the first Republican debate of the 2016 presidential primary season on Fox News, which featured then-real estate mogul Donald Trumpas a front-runner in his first political debate, drew more than 24 million viewers in August 2015.

On the Democratic side in 2015, CNN drew 15.3 million viewers for a debate headlined by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and three other candidates.

There’s a good reason for this, too.

One of the things you try to avoid in comedy is going as blue as you can as quickly as you can. Shock laughs can be funny, but they don’t have a long shelf life, and it leaves you very few places to go afterward.

Looking at the Democratic debate last night made me think of this rule, only the Democrats didn’t start by leading off with the most shocking thing they could say, they came into the debate right after the shocking parts of the Democrat party had had their say. The “eat the rich” and “orange man bad” positions they took is something we’ve been listening to now for a long time. You can only clutch your pearls over hearing leftist politicians talk about their exorbitant tax plans and radical plans to solve climate change so much.

In short, we didn’t hear anything different, just the same bad jokes that lost their edge. We didn’t listen to anything that would have enlightened us as to why we should seriously consider any of these Democrats as a viable candidate. The radical positions the Democrats now feel they should take are positions most Americans have already ruled out.

But aside from the fact that the debates were about as substantial as a ghost party, the real reason people couldn’t bring themselves to care was that the elections are likely already decided. Just last March, the election was being called for Trump by economists who were telling us that the economy is too strong under the current president, and history tells us that a strong economy is almost a guaranteed reelection for the guy running it.

Trump isn’t going anywhere. You know that, I know that, and the Democrats know that, too. They may try, or at least give the impression that they’re trying, but at the end of the day, Trump has the economy and his incumbency working in his favor. Not to mention the fact that people like the guy despite a media throwing Trump’s bad poll numbers around like confetti. He’s filling stadiums with overflow in the thousands. Most Democrats would be lucky to fill a room at the Y.

There are no stakes. The die was cast and it already came up Trump. Save for a miracle for the Democrats, a second term is inevitable.

At this time we’re watching to see which panderer will lose to Donald Trump.

It’s time better spent doing anything else at all.
