Talk about a strong comeback.

On Tuesday, New York Times writer attacked Rep. Dan Crenshaw over his dubious support for the 9/11 Victims Compensation.

Word to the wise: It’s not really a good idea to attack Dan Crenshaw. He seems to be the quite the Comeback King.

Also, the dude’s an eye-patched former Navy Seal war hero. An assault on him will always make you look like a crappy person.

But Wajahat Ali doesn’t care what I think. Hence, the following tweet, in response to Jon Stewart’s recent condemnation (to Shepherd Smith) of congresspeople failing “to ensure that a victims’ compensation fund set up after the 9/11 attacks won’t run out of money — and for skipping a hearing devoted to that very crisis.”

So here’s what Wajahat had to say. I mean, chirp:

Reading Wajahat’s post, I’m wincing as if I’ve just heard a man reply with anything other than “Absolutely not” to “Does this dress make me look fat?”

My eyes are squinting. My nose is crinkling.

Here comes Dan, and it’s a rough one.

So what’s his response to a question of whether he wants to support victims of terrorism?

It’s this. Buckle up, Wajahat.

He wrote, “Hey ‘journalist,’ maybe you should check your facts. I am a co-sponsor. Nice try though.”

But here’s the powerful reveal:

Yikes.

That’s a scan of the injury Dan sustained from a bomb while fighting terrorism in the Middle East.

From the CrenshawForCongress site:

On Dan’s third deployment in 2012, his life changed forever. After six months of combat operations, Dan was hit by an IED blast during a mission in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was evacuated and awoke from his medically induced coma learning that his right eye had been destroyed in the blast and his left eye was still present, but badly damaged. Dan was completely blind and the doctors did not believe he would ever see again. Tara stood by him every day and night, keeping faith and praying he would see again. After several difficult surgeries, he eventually regained sight in his left eye, a miracle according to the head surgeon. Dan refused to quit and went on to deploy twice more, first back to the Middle East in 2014 and then South Korea in 2016.

Yeah. Don’t mess with Dan Crenshaw.

Citing “Moral Clarity”, Gillibrand Says Appointing Pro-Life Judges is Like Appointing Anti-Semitic Judges

Perhaps more so than any other Democratic presidential contender, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) has made it a point to try and establish herself as *the* pro-abortion candidate that pro-choice women can turn to.

In the aftermath of the fetal heartbeat bills signed into law in Georgia and Alabama last month, Gillibrand essentially called for a purge of pro-life Democrats from the party.

She told the Washington Post at the time that “As a party, we should be 100 percent pro-choice, and it should be nonnegotiable.” She also endorsed Democratic Rep. Dan Lipinski’s (IL-3) pro-choice primary challenger back in April.

Just recently, while on a campaign trip in Iowa, Gillibrand sat down with the Des Moines Register editorial board and gave an interview. During the interview, Gillibrand went on an extreme rant, equating appointing pro-life judges to appointing judges who were racist, homophobic, or anti-Semitic:

“I think there’s some issues that have such moral clarity that we have as a society decided that the other side is not acceptable,” Gillibrand said during an interview with the Des Moines Register on Tuesday

“Imagine saying that it’s OK to appoint a judge who’s racist, or anti-Semitic, or homophobic,” she continued. “Asking someone to appoint someone who takes away basic human rights of any group of people in America … I don’t think those are political issues anymore.”

She then went on to suggest that the reason pro-life Americans wanted like-minded judges on the bench was because they wanted to impose their religious beliefs on society:

“We believe in this country in the separation of church and state, and I respect the rights of every American to hold their religious beliefs true to themselves, but our country and our Constitution has always demanded that we have a separation of church and state,” she said.

[…]

“All these efforts by President Trump, and other ultra-radical conservative judges and justices to impose their faith on Americans is contrary to our Constitution, and that’s what this is,” Gillibrand said.

Watch the interview segment below:

Her comments were outright appalling, despicable, and, as Alexandra DeSanctis said, “malicious.” There is literally no one who could make a good-faith argument for appointing a “homophobic, racist, or anti-Semitic” judge. There are plenty of good arguments that could be made in good faith on appointing a pro-life judge.

If I had a dime for everytime someone told me that I was trying to turn America into racist theocracy because of my pro-life views and desire to see a like-minded judge on the bench, I could retire comfortably at an early age. In addition to being a disgusting argument, it’s also a lazy argument made by pro-abortion liberals designed to – you guessed it – shut down the debate.

While it’s true that religious arguments have been made in the past to justify pro-life positions, the more commonly used rationale is quite simple (and has nothing to do with racism): This is a a moral issue much like the debate over slavery was long ago. As I’ve written before:

The “right” to terminate unborn life is most definitely a moral issue much like slavery was when it was legal. The fact that it was legal did not make it “right” no more than abortion being legal makes it “right” to do.

Gillibrand supports the unrestricted right to terminate an unborn life up until the moment of birth, even if the unborn baby is viable and healthy. The next time she wants to brag about how “morally clear” her position is on the issue, someone needs to ask her which abortion option she believes causes the least amount of pain to an unborn baby: Vacuum aspiration or dilation and evacuation?

Joe Biden Has A New Campaign Slogan He Borrowed From Michael Avenatti

I’m Going To Borrow That Slogan From YOU, Creepy ( Former) Porn Lawyer

How can you not love Joe Biden and his fledgling campaign? From the issue of keeping his hands to himself or “borrowing” words and phrases from other people, he just can’t help himself and I can’t get enough of it.

Joe Biden and Donald Trump are both in Iowa today for a series of speeches and events that are the official, unofficial kick off to their 2020 faceoff against each other. Now I know that I might be counting my chickens too soon but you all know you want this to happen.

Joe kicked off his first event with the theme that he will be carrying throughout the primary season that is simply, “Donald Trump Sucks” and I’m the guy to beat him. Biden has already been skipping events where he knows he will have to fight other Dems and decided to play it safe by just going right after Trump.

However, good ole Uncle Joe who ran for his party’s nomination in 1988 and had to drop out for plagiarizing Neil Kinnock from Britan, has once again decided to borrow another slogan from someone who not only hated Donald Trump also but has endorsed the former Veep.

Still creepy but not a lawyer to a porn star anymore, Michael Avenatti.

According to Fox News

Former Vice President Joe Biden was applauded Tuesday by Democrats in Iowa when he slammed President Trump with his own twist on the president’s famous campaign slogan.

“He says, ‘let’s make America great again,’” Biden said of Trump in Ottumwa. “Let’s make America America again.”

Turns out, that’s not the first time voters have heard that line: Michael Avenatti, the anti-Trump lawyer who briefly promoted a possible Democratic presidential run of his own this year before being indicted on multiple charges, repeatedly used that same slogan in public remarks as he pushed back against Trump.

Avenatti most recently used the line – in endorsing Biden for president in April.

“I am extremely happy that @JoeBiden has decided to enter the race,” Avenatti tweeted at the time. “He offers Dems the very best chance in 2020, especially in key states. He has the fight, intelligence and fortitude to beat Trump and begin to make America, America again. He has my enthusiastic support.”

Isn’t he precious?

Biden has already been tagged this cycle for lifting some lines and now they decide to just go right to the guy who is in a helluva lot of trouble with Nike, Stormy and a bunch of others and just take his phrase. Who from the Hillary Clinton campaign did the Bernie Sanders camp plant in Joe’s? That person should win the campaign manager of the year.

Make America, America Again? How about making the last one of Joe Biden’s three campaigns run competently. You would think after 31 years of trying to do this you might have taken some notes on what NOT to do in the future but hey Joe, you gotta be you.

Really, who am I kidding? I’m going to root for this trainwreck of a campaign go all the way and then watch Trump taunt him about going behind a school to whoop his behind. Let’s do this ASAP.

We need to make America Laugh Again.

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX-2). Screen grab via C-SPAN.

Fresh off of getting failed Democratic Congressional candidate Brianna Wu (MA) to tweet a self-own acknowledging his point on Christian teachings, Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX-2) has moved on to the next Democrat who needs a reality check: Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI-13).

Crenshaw appeared on Fox News Monday to discuss a variety of topics, but the one that got the most attention was Tlaib’s trillion dollar plan to combat was she calls income inequality. The Washington Post describes the plan:

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) has released a plan to spend trillions of federal dollars on direct cash subsidies to working class and poor Americans, including the unemployed and those with no earnings.

Tlaib’s bill would give direct cash help to those at the bottom of the income distribution — annually offering $3,000 to individuals and $6,000 to families — in an attempt to reduce poverty in the United States and bolster the wages of the poor.

[…]

By contrast, Tlaib’s plan offers the full $3,000 or $6,000 credit to those with no income — a significant break from orthodoxy among more centrist Democrats, who have traditionally argued giving federal cash to the unemployed will discourage them from finding jobs.

Speaking with Fox News‘s Martha MacCallum Monday, Crenshaw called Tlaib’s plan “deeply immoral”, and said it was crafted out of a “misunderstanding of economics”:

“It’s a misunderstanding of economics because one, we always have to ask the question ‘how are we going to pay for it?’,” he claimed.

“Are we going to put our children in even more debt? Are we going to raise taxes on somebody else?

“It also doesn’t make sense because it basically entices people not to work. If you are making $49,000 a year, then you’re going to have an incentive not to take that extra job or extra promotion because you’re going to lose your benefits.”

Tlaib’s plan, the Livable Income for Families (LIFT) Plus Act, would offer direct payments of $3,000 to people making less than $50,000 per year.

Watch video of the interview segment below:

Tlaib’s plan is (surprise!) an even more expansive version of the one Democratic presidential candidate and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) proposed back in January, which Townhall‘s Ian Snively dissected earlier this year.

Dallas Set to Have Highest Murder Rate In a Decade and Its Police Chief Has a Lot to Answer For

Westlake Legal Group AP_18036719252018-620x370 Dallas Set to Have Highest Murder Rate In a Decade and Its Police Chief Has a Lot to Answer For Texas Renee Hall police Nick Novello murder law Front Page Stories Featured Story dallas crime Adam McGough

Dallas Police Department Chief U. Renee Hall found herself in the hot seat before the Dallas city council as it was reported that the city is approaching it’s highest homicide rate in a decade.

According to police officials on Monday, Dallas is set to finish out the year with 228 homicides, which is double the amount seen since 2014. Hall was sat before the city council to answer some tough questions.

Committee chairman Adam McGough noted that criminals believe they can get away with crime in the city because of the departments woefully understaffed force and the fact that the district attorney has decided that low-level crimes aren’t worth pressing charges over. McGough pointed directly at the Chief for it all.

“The issues that we face to change that perception does come back to the chief,” McGough said. “We have got to hear messages from you and the Police Department that we will not tolerate crime in the city of Dallas.”

“Since the day I walked through the door, there has been a focus to reduce violent crime,” Hall responded defensively. “There’s nothing to assume that the Dallas Police Department under my leadership or any other leadership is soft on crime.”

Hall has attempted to say that crime statistics have fallen 22 percent under her watch, but according to DPD Officer Nick Novello, this is just a manipulation of numbers.

Novello, a DPD whistleblower, told RedState back in August of last year that high crimes such as homicide, rape, and assault go unanswered for hours due to a shortage of officers necessary to respond to such calls. However, dispatch will push the call into the supervising officer’s inbox in order to make it seem like the crime is getting dealt with:

Novello told RedState that certain calls such as threats with a deadly weapon or threats of suicide must be answered by no less than five officers according to Dallas PD policy. To avoid making it seem like the DPD has slow response times, Novello has said that dispatch will immediately put the call into a supervising officer’s inbox within his police unit’s computer. This way it seems like the call is being handled, despite the fact that the supervising officer may be waiting anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour for enough officers to be available.

According to Novello, this happens very regularly.

Furthermore, Novello notes that the DPD’s computer systems are cumbersome and unreliable. Filing reports that should only take 20 to 30 minutes will sometimes take several hours, and the system will sometimes not file the report at all. This doesn’t help to reveal the full extent of the crime happening in Dallas.

That’s not all. According to retired Dallas police officer Roy Messick, officers have been instructed to under-report crimes as well and gave an example.

“Let’s say a car slams into five other cars,” Messick told RedState, “the officer making the report is told to treat that as one crime instead of the five different counts it should be.”

Hall crippled the PD upon her entry by reassigning officers from the Vice Unit, effectively dissolving it. Now sex trafficking and prostitution are also another crime that only looks like it’s getting dealt with according to Messick.

“When Renee Hall was made chief of the Dallas PD, one of the first things she did was get rid of the Vice unit,” Messick told RedState. “Now instead of making arrests for prostitution, the prostitutes are just given citations. It makes it look like the crimes have been dealt with, but really nothing is happening.”

Novello reported to RedState that some have even some fall ill from stress due to the high volume they have to shoulder. All of this and more has made Dallas a playground for crime, and due to the lack of officers is only getting worse.

Novello spoke to the city council last year in February and reported that there is not a viable policing function in Dallas.

Alec Baldwin Loses His Temper…Again, Then Calls Sarah Huckabee Sanders A ‘Mouthpiece for Fascism’

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee responded to Alec Baldwin’s announcement that he’s “so done” with playing President Trump on “Saturday Night Live,” a show that used to be funny. Huckabee tweeted, “Good news for viewers who are “so done” with “SNL” & unfunny vicious Trump bashing instead of comedy. For refreshing variety, try my show instead tonight! huckabee.tv”

Baldwin shot back, “Who knows what the future holds? I tell what it should hold. That you, who have sucked a govt paycheck out of the economy while you were a dreadful Lt gov and then gov and that daughter of yours, a mouthpiece for fascism, that you go away. Just…go away.”

Only a couple of months ago, Baldwin told Vanity Fair Magazine that he went to a court-mandated Anger Management class and learned that he’s “not that angry.”

He could have fooled us.

When I did a google search of “alec baldwin anger,” 8,480,000 results appeared. I think he’s angry.

The VF article says that Baldwin is known for two things, his portrayal of President Trump on SNL and “getting so angry he gets arrested.”

In early November, the angry actor got into an argument over a parking space in Greenwich Village. “Then, an alleged punch—that was maybe more of a push—ensued, as did a possible “F**k off”. Baldwin was arrested and charged with assault and harassment, and he was sent to [the above mentioned] anger management.” Afterward, he tweeted, “Normally, I would not comment on something as egregiously misstated as today’s story. However, the assertion that I punched anyone over a parking spot is false. I wanted to go on the record stating as such.”

In late January, Baldwin plead guilty to a harassment charge stemming from that incident.

In April, Baldwin spoke to Newsweek magazine and told them he “recognized the role the late-night sketch series has played in shaping American politics.” He added:

Trump is someone who you’d have to be clinically insane to think that he was a qualified leader in this country. What they do is they hate Trump’s opposition. They hate liberal Hollywood.

I’ll apply all of their labels: they hate liberal Hollywood, they hate East Coast elites, they hate the over-educated, whatever, however, you want to identify people that believe [they] are controlling the faith of the country,” continued Baldwin. “It’s more what they stand against than what they stand for. You can never change their minds and satisfy them.

Tell you what I think. Not only is Baldwin angry, but he is egotistical, condescending, narrow-minded and delusional.

Nearly Two Hundred Corporate CEOs Declare That Killing Babies Is What Makes Their Business Thrive

Abortion is shaping up to be a surprise issue in the 2020 election. We’ve seen the Democrat party move from the Clintonian formulation of “safe, legal, and rare,” to a more aggressive stance on the issue. The center of the current Democrat field supports laws that allow abortion to be performed up until the baby is delivered, and, if we’re to take Virginia Governor Ralph “Blackface” Northam at his word, even a baby that has survived the birthing process is not all that safe. Simultaneously, several states are acting to restrict abortion. Some, like Alabama, are apparently doing it to force a Supreme Court reconsideration of Roe v. Wade, and others are focused on ensuring that abortion clinics have to obey the same regulations as an immediate care facility where you can get a hangnail trimmed knowing that the abortuary corporations involved will never spend money to make women safer.

As the momentum in the argument seems to be swinging in favor of life, Planned Parenthood, NARAL Pro-Choice America, the American Civil Liberties Union and the Center for Reproductive Rights, have enlisted the aid of some 180 corporations to claim that abortion is all that makes them financially viable.

More than 180 CEOs signed an open letter opposing state efforts to restrict reproductive rights, as business leaders weigh how to most effectively exert pressure against abortion bans.

Square chief executive and Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey as well as fashion icon Diane von Furstenberg and others wrote that restrictions on abortion access threaten the economic stability of their employees and customers and make it harder to build a diverse workforce and recruit talent.

What goes along with it is a list of companies that really don’t matter. Here is a partial list of companies who think they can’t survive unless babies are slaughtered.

Westlake Legal Group companies-that-like-to-kill-babies-620x771 Nearly Two Hundred Corporate CEOs Declare That Killing Babies Is What Makes Their Business Thrive yelp twitter pro-abortion Politics planned parenthood Naral Pro-Choice America Front Page Stories Featured Story democrats Center for Reproductive Rights American Civil Liberties Union Allow Media Exception Abortion

Screengrab fromhttps://dontbanequality.com/

This is how the astroturf entity “Don’t Ban Equality” fluffs the argument.

When everyone is empowered to succeed, our companies, our communities and our economy are better for it.

Restricting access to comprehensive reproductive care, including abortion, threatens the health, independence and economic stability of our employees and customers. Simply put, it goes against our values and is bad for business. It impairs our ability to build diverse and inclusive workforce pipelines, recruit top talent across the states, and protect the well-being of all the people who keep our businesses thriving day in and out.

The future of gender equality hangs in the balance, putting our families, communities, businesses and the economy at risk.

Note the neat jujitsu here? The use of “equality” as a synonym for abortion. This is the same strategy used when licensing sexual deviance was sold as “marriage equality.”

Pro Tip: if your business model is improved by killing people then maybe you should rethink what you’re doing. I’m sure that a lot of the employees here would be “empowered to succeed” (wtfingf does that even mean?) if they were able to off elderly parents or sickly family members or spouses they’d grown tired of, that doesn’t mean we should condone it and campaign on behalf of doing so.

The entire argument that the absences of a readily available abortion is either a health issue (it isn’t, there is literally no health condition that requires abortion to cure it) or one that disadvantages women in or out of the workforce is just nonsense. The idea that any company, in the long run, is better off with fewer customers or fewer potential employees is simply economic illiteracy. The overwhelming majority of women do not have an abortion…don’t believe that 1-in-3 bullsh**, that math only works in gender studies classes.

Unfortunately, the real takeaway here is that these companies don’t like families. They see a spouse and children as something that distracts the nice little drones in the their cubes from putting in yet more hours. Why would any woman want to go to work for a company that puts more of a premium on killing babies than on nurturing them? Why would any person really care what the priesthood of Moloch thinks is best? Why does anyone think that someone who believes in killing babies has the moral authority to lecture anyone on anything?

We can only hope that the 2020 election is fought on the battleground of abortion, if for no other reason that to watch Vichy Republicans pull themselves through their own sphincters making the case why abortion doesn’t count as an issue because Trump is on the ballot. I think a national debate about abortion…including educating the nation on what actually happens during an abortion…is long overdue. This whole idea that inconvenience is reason for murder must be treated the same way as chattel slavery. It must be eradicated.

After being roundly ridiculed for the notion, Congress has shelved a plan to give themselves a nearly $5000 pay raise. With current salary and benefits most Congressional members already earn around $286,000 annually.

There’s a possibility the move could have flown under the radar but America’s Socialist Next Door couldn’t keep her mouth shut. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez – who talks like every spoiled rich kid you’ve ever known and tweets like Donald Trump – railed against critics of the pay raise, scolding average Americans for daring to suggest our congressional reps should prove they deserve a raise just like in any other job.

Westlake Legal Group aoc-raise1-620x497 AOC is Right to Complain About Congressional Wages…and Wrong About the Solution raises mocking inflation Government Front Page Stories Featured Story DC Cost of Living Congress AOC Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Westlake Legal Group aoc-raise2-620x428 AOC is Right to Complain About Congressional Wages…and Wrong About the Solution raises mocking inflation Government Front Page Stories Featured Story DC Cost of Living Congress AOC Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

AOC is right on this point. It isn’t unreasonable to ask for a raise considering that these people serve in one of the most expensive cities in the union. It seems crazy that this woman from New York City would be so taken aback by the cost of living in D.C. but for whatever reasons she’s having trouble adjusting. That is not odd. Washington D.C. is a terribly expensive place to live and many reps can’t afford comfortable housing that is close to work.

But this is precisely the reason voters are so disgusted every time congress asks for a raise. It’s hard to get behind AOC’s legitimate complaints about Capitol Hill costs when the whole reason it costs so much to live there is because the government practices of both the district and Congress artificially inflate the cost of living to unbearable levels. AOC and company say they need/deserve bigger salaries but taxpayer dollars are flying around D.C. in disturbing amounts. Our government subsidizes housing, buys up valuable land, grossly overpays contractors, grossly overpays employees which leads to the ability to grossly overpay for items, etc. etc. etc. To coin an unseemly phrase, it’s a big circle jerk – a self-fulfilling problem. Living is expensive because government keeps growing which makes living more expensive which…you get the idea.

AOC has been mocked for suggesting that the only way to keep our loyal and honest, humble public servants from becoming corrupt is to pay them more. Once again, she isn’t wrong. The harder life gets the more incentive people have to act dishonestly. This is only one of the reasons socialism/communism can never work. When people are struggling to provide the basics they can easily justify turning to illegal activities to provide some level of comfort. That is a fair (if not embarrassing) assessment of human nature.  However, once again it should be pointed out that part of why government is so corrupt is that there is so much of it, and so much of our money flowing through it.

It is rightfully laughable to hear AOC talk about corruption when it is corruption that is the very reason it costs her so much to live where she does. Of course, she and the rest of the political class can’t be taken seriously on issues of pay raises because of their daily and yearly contributions to the corruption that is making life unaffordable. Americans look at the cushy lives of their representatives and the gridlock, say-lots- do-nothing culture of Congress and they find it untenable and wholly unreasonable to be asked to fork over more of their own cash in order to help their politicians avoid corruptly taking more of their cash.

Give us more of your money so we don’t have to steal more of your money!

AOC unwittingly makes a great case for term limits and a shortened congressional calendar. The cost of living in the D.C. metro area and the tax structure in general would look very different if our representatives only lived and worked in D.C. for a few weeks a year and then returned home to real jobs to live under the laws they’ve affected and enacted.

And who wants to offer a raise to an employee who hasn’t earned it? Imagine the fry-flipper at McDonald’s asking her boss for a significant raise so she isn’t tempted to spit in the fries and raid the cash drawers every day. Then on top of that she hasn’t been flipping the fries properly since she started. They’re always frozen in the middle and burned on the outside.

Congress is asking us to reward their crappy fry-flipping skills and the response was fully heartening. It is good to know that as a divided America we can still come together to mock our politicians for suggesting they’ve earned more perks.

The American people might be more game to talk about raises if Congress seemed game to fix the system that makes their lives so expensive in the first place.

I’m sure life in the D.C. metro area is not easy even for the likes of AOC, but instead of asking for more money from the people Congress should try making their own lives (and by extension, ours) less expensive by shrinking the thing that is crushing us all – government.

Pelosi Is Giving Mark Zuckerberg the Silent Treatment Over a Video On Facebook

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is really trying to get a hold of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for a video that popped up on his social media platform, but she’s reportedly not calling him back due to her anger over it.

According to the Washington Post, Zuck has reached out to Pelosi in recent weeks but hasn’t received a reply of any kind over her frustration of a video released by a political group that showed Pelosi looking drunk and slow during her speech at the Center for American Progress last month. Facebook had refused to take the video down as it did not violate any of its rules.

According to WaPo, sources familiar say she doesn’t want to hear an explanation from Facebook as to why they didn’t take it down:

According to the people familiar the matter, Pelosi has not been eager to hear Zuckerberg’s explanation for the company’s actions.

The impasse between the nation’s most powerful Democratic lawmaker and the social media titan highlights broader tensions within the Democratic Party about Facebook and the company’s efforts to counter both foreign interference in elections and the spread of viral lies and blatant falsehoods.

A spokesperson for Pelosi declined to comment. Facebook declined to comment on Zuckerberg’s private communications.

While this may seem like a case of hurt feelings, knowing Pelosi and her subliminal way of communicating her intent, this looks to me like Pelosi looking to gin up hard feelings against Facebook, which may grease the wheels for better manipulation of social networks like his.

Calls have increased to break Facebook apart and turn the social network in a government utility, and Pelosi is likely only too happy to do it. The fake video would work well to become one more example of how platforms like Facebook disseminate false information and one more bullet in the Democrat’s gun in its quest to censor the internet.

Facebook itself has a long-standing “policy that stipulates that the information you post on Facebook must be true” according to WaPo. Censoring things like the video would increase accusations of censorship and bias, which is what Zuckerberg reportedly fears.

He rightly should, too.

Whether the video is doctored or not is irrelevant. People can release footage disproving the video’s claims. Pelosi is angry because Zuck didn’t censor the attack against her right off the bat, which says a lot of about Pelosi and how she thinks the private sector should cater to her and her whims.

It also works in Pelosi’s favor that she not know the reason Facebook didn’t censor it so that when the question is asked in a more public atmosphere, say a committee hearing, the question itself can elicit more distrust from the public.

That distrust turns into more calls for a government takeover.

Mitt Romney Is Thinking of Co-Sponsoring a Carbon Tax for Some Reason

Westlake Legal Group Mitt-Romney-Real-MR-Please-Stand-Up Mitt Romney Is Thinking of Co-Sponsoring a Carbon Tax for Some Reason Typical republicans Politics Oil and Gas Industry Mitt Romney Jeff Flake Global Warming Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story Expected Establishment Republican donald trump Climate Change carbon tax Barack Obama 2020

This is the issue with idolizing certain politicians simply over their supposed superior decorum.

While Mitt Romney may be a good, decent person, he’s a pretty bad Republican and has been his entire career. That’s continued with his ascent (descent?) to Senate, where he’s fancied himself Jeff Flake’s long lost twin brother. His reaction to the Mueller report was pretty much what you’d expect but he’s always up for trying to scuttle a GOP nominee to virtue signal for Barack Obama.

While he doesn’t know if he’ll support Trump in 2020, he knows that something must be done about climate change and a carbon tax might just be the ticket.

Romney recently told E&E News (an energy focused outlet) that he’s thinking about co-sponsoring a carbon tax bill.

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) said today he’s considering co-sponsoring a carbon tax bill amid shifting attitudes in the GOP and increasingly strong advocacy for carbon pricing programs in corporate America.

That last line may seem counter intuitive, but it’s actually a real shift going on within the oil and gas industry. They are scared to death of coming legal action regarding carbon emissions and “climate change.” Their response is to ask the government to start taxing them, along with giving them legal protections if they comply.

The logic goes something like this. Because the entire industry would be hit with the same taxes, they could all raise prices at uniform rates, passing the costs onto consumers. It then becomes a win-win for them. They get new legal protections and any increase in costs from the taxes aren’t paid by them anyway. It’s really a testament to just how incidious crony capitalism is among the U.S. government and large corporations.

Romney, being your typical establishment Republican, is willing to entertain the idea.

“Taxes have never been my intent, but we’ll see what he has to say,” Romney said. “I would very much like to see us reduce our carbon emissions globally, and we’ll see if this might help.”

The right answer is that higher taxes are never the right answer. Especially when they are obviously part of a scheme meant to protect big business while raising prices for consumers. This also stands in contrast to 2012, where Romney spent plenty of time rallying against a carbon tax and hitting Obama for his “war on coal.”

While such a bill would go nowhere, this episode is a reminder of why politicians like Romney can’t be counted on for anything. They may say the right stuff and do so in a way that gives certain portions of the right the warm and fuzzies, but he’s still your typical, squish Republican who’d just as well go along to get along than actually stand for anything.

His possible support for a carbon tax is so on brand, it’s scary.
