Democrats Hope The Month Of June Will Break Pelosi On Accepting Impeachment

The Heat Is ON for the Speaker and her caucus buddies are bringing it.

As I wrote here last week Who Was The Biggest Loser In The Mueller Presser? Nancy Pelosi the Mueller presser was only going to put more heat on Madam Speaker to get moving on impeachment.

According to POLITICO that is just what is happening…

A month packed with subpoena fights, hearings on obstruction of justice and legal battles over Trump’s financial records is certain to provide fresh ammunition to grow the pro-impeachment ranks.

“The temperature’s rising, the plot is thickening. It’s hard for me to imagine Congress certainly leaving for the August recess without some closure on this,” said Rep. Jared Huffman (D-Calif.), who supports impeachment. “The Hamlet act is, I think, wearing thin, and it’s becoming untenable and intellectually strange.”

But Democrats eager to launch impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump fear they’re running out of time to persuade Pelosi to change course before presidential politics consumes Washington.

Democrats in the House are not interested in the overall strategy that Pelosi is looking at. They just want to pound anything with Trump into the ground and hope something sticks. Yet there is a reason that Nancy Pelosi has been in a position of power for so long.

She is not that idiot some want to portray her.

The Speaker comes from a political family and she has learned where there are potential traps and how to avoid them. There is no smoking gun yet and Pelosi has to balance that fact with the non-compliance of the Senate to hold a trial, plus, the danger of a backlash from the moderates they need to win back in 2020. Her committee chairs are increasingly not caring about that.

She has too.

As hard as this might be for some people to believe, Nancy is being the adult in the room here for the Democrats. The newbies think they will always be in the majority and Trump is dead in the water already for next years election. Nancy knows better.

As I said in the other article I wrote from last week on this subject.

Nancy likes the perks of being Speaker. Free plane rides home, bigger office with a cool balcony view of the Mall and she is 3rd in line for the Presidency. All good stuff. So when malcontents like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar or Rashida Tlaib start getting lippy about impeachment, Nancy has to walk a fine line. They are part of the reason she is Speaker today but if Impeachment blows up they will be the reason why she loses it.

Nancy doesn’t like to lose.

The ever-growing calls from people on her side of the aisle to fast forward on this will be a lot of fun to watch being Pelosi will have to cut a deal at some point and then the fireworks can really begin before the election next year.

Get a bag of popcorn and get ready. This will be a hoot to watch.

Kira Davis: Trump Is Right To Hit Back At London’s Mayor

We like to fuss about Trump’s fussiness on Twitter. Some people are like me and view it with a sense of bemused fascination. Others feel he is dangerous with his openness, and many people would describe his social media activity as childish and unbecoming of his office.

This week POTUS is in the U.K. on a state visit and true to form he made sure his reputation preceded him. Just before his visit, Trump took to Twitter to complain about London mayor Sadiq Khan.

“@SadiqKhan, who by all accounts has done a terrible job of Mayor of London, has been foolishly “nasty” to the visiting President of the United States, by far the most important ally of the United Kingdom. He is a stone cold loser who should focus on crime in London, not me…Kahn [sic] reminds me very much of our very dumb and incompetent Mayor of NYC, de Blasio, who has also done a terrible job – only half his height. In any event, I look forward to being a great friend to the United Kingdom, and am looking very much forward to my visit. Landing now!”

Of course, the main headline the press is pulling from this particular thread is that Trump called the Mayor of London a “loser”. We’re all supposed to be outraged by this lack of etiquette and his crude comments to a major political figure – as if Trump hasn’t been this same person since the day he announced he’d be running for president.

I can’t fault anyone for being annoyed with Trump’s social media presence, but the president’s critics are so obsessed with hating him that sometimes they miss the forest for the trees. There is a time for frustration, but other times it might behoove us to step back and really examine what he is saying, however crassly.

Trump wasn’t just pulling that ‘loser’ moniker out of thin hair…errr…air.

Mayor Khan fired the first shot, publishing a scathing and equally rude opinion piece in The Guardian about Trump’s visit. In it, Khan criticizes U.K. heads of state for even just welcoming Trump with the typical formal courtesy any foreign head of state receives, calling it “un-British to roll out the red carpet”. He trots out the tired and untrue “very fine people on both sides” trope and follows it up with a litany of insults prompted by a biased news narrative, including the “Muslim ban” fallacy.

Worse than that, Khan describes the President of the United States as a fascist and a maniac saying, “Donald Trump is just one of the most egregious examples of a growing global threat.” He goes on to compare Trump to emerging European right-wing leaders like Nigel Farage and Marie Le Pen and suggesting they pose the same danger as the fascists of old.

As an American it is hard not to read his piece and feel some measure of outrage. Trump was right to call out Khan on his ridiculous and intolerant whining. His own city is overrun with Islamofascist terrorists and his justice department is prosecuting reporters for covering the terror. If anyone is “intentionally pitting their own citizens against one another” it is Khan. This is the mayor of one of the greatest cities in the world and he is spewing vitriol at and demanding the demonization of people who represent a huge swath of his electorate and his nation. Instead of taking time to sit and talk with any of them – including Trump – he’s chosen to “otherize” the people he accuses of “otherizing” those he claims to represent. It hasn’t even occurred to him that perhaps the headlines don’t reflect the hearts of those who don’t view the current state of London the way he does. Do they not deserve to be fairly heard without the media filters?

And let’s not leave out the very salient point that Trump shot back with. How dare this man point to us and accuse the United States of electing a fascist? While his city surpasses New York City in homicides and struggles to even control the insane rise in the ridiculous-sounding “knife-crime” category people are still streaming over our borders to partake in our particular brand of “fascism”. People are literally dying for the chance to be here. In the U.K. people are literally dying…either at the hands of the state healthcare failure, terrorist bombers or unemployed gangs of “youth” who didn’t get the memo about dropping their garden sheers in one of the myriad of street-corner knife boxes.

This is the country that saved the U.K.’s – and probably the world’s – ass. A bunch of times. We’re still saving it. We still maintain a military presence throughout Europe. That presence provides a safety net for people like Khan so he can spend money that would otherwise be for national defense on the myriad of social programs that continue to sink his city and have made it one of the most unaffordable and unfriendly cities for low-income families in the West. We’re not perfect, but our electoral system is so incredibly successful that we have transitioned the reigns of power over 46 times and never once have we turned to fascism. We beat back fascism so this man can enjoy the extraordinary luxuries of his office. His description of our President – whatever one thinks of his politics or antics – is insulting to the people who provide so much for his nation with their tax dollars. The American people are not drooling, toothless, unwashed Neanderthals who are too stupid to know what they need. We’ve been at this a long time. Trump didn’t stumble into office. He was freely and fairly elected because we were suffocating under the shiny exterior of the progressive policy disasters that have soaked our city centers. Talk to us about it…but don’t insult us. We’ve sacrificed a lot for our British brethren. For better or worse, Trump represents the American people and that is who is standing in front of Khan or Prince Charles or anyone else in London when he visits – the American people.

Please treat our representatives accordingly, Mr. Mayor. As you point out in your piece, we are not your enemies. We are the best friend your nation has. Like I always say, if you can’t say anything nice about someone then just just say it behind their back like a normal person would do.

Khan may be miffed at Trump’s lack of diplomacy but he is obviously not one to live by example.

London’s mayor is sadly ignorant of the ironies he professes. He compares the President to a “fascist” and says the U.K. will regret treating him with respect one day. He says this while his own city suffers from a rising global jihadi threat that he not only refuses to recognize but willfully bans media from openly and honestly discussing. Who’s the fascist here? Trump complains about CNN but as you can see CNN continues to say and do whatever they want in their reporting. They will, no matter who is the president. That is the glory and the gift of our constitutional republic. We have a free press, Khan has a controlled state media.

As someone who refused to vote for Trump I can’t believe I’m saying this, but his citizens will be lucky to have a leader like Trump once Khan is through diplomacy-ing the great city of London to death. At least he’s up front about what he thinks and what he’s seeing.

We’re not asking for Trump to be loved and adored unquestioningly, but a “thank you for visiting” and a simple handshake might be nice. We Americans don’t bite.

Unless a Nazi is threatening to overrun Europe, and then we bite hard. It’s obviously a thankless job but someone has to do it, Mayor Khan.

Justice Dept Wont Charge Julian Assange For CIA Leaks

Well, that came out of nowhere.

In a move that surprised a whole lot of people who expected that the United States would throw the book at Wikileaks founder Juliane Assange, they only threw half of a book.

According to POLITICO

It’s a move that has surprised national security experts and some former officials, given prosecutors’ recent decision to aggressively go after the WikiLeaks founder on more controversial Espionage Act charges that some legal experts said would not hold up in court. The decision also means that Assange will not face punishment for publishing one of the CIA’s most potent arsenals of digital code used to hack devices, dubbed Vault 7. The leak — one of the most devastating in CIA history — not only essentially rendered those tools useless for the CIA, it gave foreign spies and rogue hackers access to them.

Prosecutors were stymied by several factors.

First, the government is facing a ticking clock in its efforts to extradite Assange to the United States from the United Kingdom, where he is being held. Extradition laws require the U.S. to bring any additional charges against Assange within 60 days of the first indictment, which prosecutors filed in March, accusing Assange of helping former Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning hack into military computers.

There is a strategy here.

Assange and his pal Chelsea ( Don’t call me Bradley) Manning released some very damaging stuff to U.S. national security in relation to what is called “Vault 7” material. This type of material is highly classified and generally when it leaks the government will neither confirm or deny it is real. So if they were to prosecute base don those materials they would have to confirm it in court.

Classic catch 22. Damned if you do and damned if you don’t.

So the government will go after Assange for helping Bra errr Chelsea Manning with the release of the classified material that Manning was already convicted on. The U.S. is going through the process for Assange to be transferred here from England in what will be a circus for sure.

In the meantime, we can hope that the United States intelligence operations have tightened up their security nets a bit and hope that they don’t spy on Americans without a warrant.

What a world that would be.

MoveOn Chief Public Affairs Officer Karine Jean-Pierre confronts an aggressive protester. 6/1/19. Screen grab via CBS News.

On Saturday, MoveOn.org hosted what they called a “Big Ideas Forum” in San Francisco, where several of the Democratic candidates for president appeared to answer questions and stump for votes.

Sen. Kamala Harris’s segment was briefly interrupted by an animal rights protester who rushed the stage and physically confronted Harris:

In footage of the incident at the Big Ideas Forum hosted by MoveOn, the male protester can be seen entering the stage just as Harris took a question about the gender pay gap in the United States before being stopped by Karine Jean-Pierre, MoveOn’s chief public affairs officer.

The protester, named Aidan Cook, said he wanted ask for Harris’s attention on “a much bigger idea” before he was removed from the stage by security. Harris continued speaking after his removal.

Direct Action Everywhere, an animal rights organization based in California, said in a statement that the man was an activist who wanted to call on Harris “to support ordinary citizens rescuing animals rather than the factory farms that abuse animals.”

Watch as Jean-Pierre literally does not waste a moment of time before getting up and stepping between Cook and Harris in an attempt to grab the mic back:

Here’s a photo of Aidan Cook:

While some journalists and liberals – including Harris’s spokesman – absurdly boiled down Cook’s actions to “mansplaining” to a woman of color, this was a serious matter and it could have happened to any of the Democratic candidates, no matter their gender or color. And the outcome could have been a lot worse.

It should not have happened.

Harris, to her credit, calmly walked away from the protester as she’s probably been instructed to do in the past by her security staff. In spite of my issues with Harris (and there are MANY), I doubt very seriously if Cook scared her. She’s a former federal prosecutor who no doubt faced a number of threats in that role, and as she’s said in the past, she owns a gun for her personal safety. She’s probably taken self-defense classes, too.

In any event, thankfully no one was hurt but MoveOn should face some major heat from her campaign over what took place. It took too long for security to intervene. Just like the milkshake incident involving Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL-1) over the weekend, these incidents have no place in a civilized society.

Also, they aren’t just dangerous for political candidates – they’re dangerous for protesters, too. The Secret Service would not have been so forgiving with Cook.

In any event, hats off to Jean-Pierre for her quick actions. Some have suggested she put herself in danger in doing what she did, but it was clear from the video that Jean-Pierre knew how to handle herself – and the situation.

Pete Buttigieg Has Completely Original Idea, Calls for Supreme Court to Be Packed

No one has ever thought of this.

Pete Buttigieg has went from the moderate who likes Chick-Fil-A to one of the most far-left candidates in the 2020 Democrat party seemingly overnight. He continues his march toward crazy by adopting a favorite fetish of liberals everywhere, namely packing the Supreme Court.

Because if you don’t like the results, just change the system right?

WASHINGTON — As Democrats agonize over a spate of state laws restricting abortion rights and even a potential reversal of Roe v. Wade, one 2020 presidential candidate is putting an ambitious, long-shot plan to reform the Supreme Court front-and-center of his campaign.

Pete Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, has talked about his plan to overhaul the high court since his first days as a candidate. In short, it calls for expanding the number of justices from nine to 15, with five affiliated with Democrats, five affiliated with Republicans, and five apolitical justices chosen by the first 10.

Anyone think a court packing plan put forth by Donald Trump would be met with descriptors like “ambitious?” Of course not. Ambitious is what the media call insanely stupid ideas that come from Democrats. Elizabeth Warren’s student loan plan isn’t incredibly unworkable and dumb. No, it’s “ambitious.” You get the idea.

While Buttigieg’s plan isn’t actually ambitious, it’s completely unconstitutional.

Let’s start with the fact that idea that two political parties, which do not exist within our constitutional framework, would somehow be in charge of appointing people to the court. That makes absolutely no sense and would disenfranchise those who don’t belong to either group. It’s akin to the communist system in China, where the communists have a party who then “appoint” whoever they want to positions of power without voters having a say.

Secondly, the power to appoint justices is written into the Constitution as solely the purview of the executive, with confirmation coming from the Senate. It would take a constitutional amendment to enact Buttigieg’s plan and that’s so unrealistic as to not even be worth discussing.

In an NBC News interview in front of the Supreme Court, Buttigieg said he would support “whatever Supreme Court reform will depoliticize this body” and stop the court from being viewed as “an almost nakedly political institution.”

Oh I see. We’ll depoliticize the Supreme Court by having the two major political parties pick the justices….wait what?

Here’s Buttigieg talking about his plan

“The reform of not just expanding the number of members but doing it in a way where some of them are selected on a consensus, nonpartisan basis, it’s a very promising way to do it,” Buttigieg said. “There may be others. But the point is, we’ve got to get out of where we are now, where any time there is an opening, there is an apocalyptic, ideological firefight. It harms the court, it harms the country and it leads to outcomes like we have right now.”

Anyone see the problem with what he’s saying?

It is Democrats who have turned the court’s appointment process into the circus it is today. When Obama had two openings early in his Presidency, they got broad support from Republicans despite the fact that they were left-wing ideologues. It wasn’t until an election year opening of Scalia’s seat that Republicans said they weren’t going to just rubber stamp a replacement. Regardless, Republicans didn’t accuse Merrick Garland of rape, slander him in the media nonstop, and proclaim people would die if he got confirmed. They simply chose not to give their consent, which is their legal right.

The Democrat party is 100% responsible for the partisan rancor present in Supreme Court appointments. They started it back in the 80s with Bork and Thomas. They continued it with Gorsuch and Kavanaugh under Trump. For a Democrat to now assert he can fix the situation when it’s his party that broke is a little rich. It’s akin to Democrats now trying to “fix” healthcare after they just enacted Obamacare a little over five years ago.

Maybe people who constantly fail at things shouldn’t keep being the ones to try to fix it? Just a thought.

As to Buttigieg, good luck to him with his new plan. It’s simply a rehash of the many other court packing plans we’ve seen. There is nothing wrong with the Supreme Court. If Democrats want to stop Republican influence over it, they should try winning elections. Trying to completely change the system because they didn’t get their way smacks of the kind of third world garbage we see in places like Turkey and Venezuala. You’d think such radical ideas would have the “muh political norms” crowd up in the arms, but I guess not. That only seems to apply to Trump.

Just When Did The Investigation Into The Trump Campaign Begin?

Westlake Legal Group Redacted-Mueller-report-620x413 Just When Did The Investigation Into The Trump Campaign Begin? Russia collusion mukasey Mueller report Front Page Stories Featured Story Abuse of Power

JON ELSWICK/ASSOCIATED PRESS

The origins of the investigation into the Trump campaign and its relationship with Russia will be on everyone’s lips within the beltway, likely for the remainder of the summer. Some are already calling the investigations into how the Russia Collusion hoax started a scam — and those investigations now include separate inquiries led by Attorney General William Barr, DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz, Attorney John Durham (picking up where Utah Special Prosecutor John Huber leaves off), and a called-for investigation by Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.)).

However, former Attorney General Michael Mukasey, who served under President George W. Bush, appeared on Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo and questioned the veracity of Mueller’s report where it deals with when the investigation started.

Transcript below:

BARTIROMO: Do you think we’re going to see accountability?

I mean, when you look at, like, the informants and the wiretapping and the abuse for the FISA court, it just seems so bad. Do you think we’re actually going to see accountability?

MUKASEY: Absolutely.

BARTIROMO: You do?

MUKASEY: Yes, because of who’s been appointed and who is ultimately responsible, which is William Barr, an attorney general who has fidelity to only one thing, and that is finding out what happened and finding it out under the law.

BARTIROMO: But they’re trying to take him down.

I don’t understand why both sides of the aisle would not agree that you don’t want a person in power putting their finger on the scale, like Peter Strzok did in 2016.

MUKASEY: Because there are a lot of nervous people in Washington.

When he decided that he was going to investigate how this all got started, I think a lot of people got very nervous. I will tell you that the Mueller report, the first line…

BARTIROMO: Yes.

MUKASEY: … says that they opened the file in — I forget — in 2016, after Papadopoulos had this conversation in the bar.

BARTIROMO: Right.

MUKASEY: That’s not what started the investigation.

BARTIROMO: No.

MUKASEY: So, the first line of the Mueller report.

What’s interesting about this exchange is that the music had begun playing and Mukasey was cut off. But he clearly seems to be implying that the investigation into the Trump campaign started before 2016, which runs counter to the accepted narrative. And, more importantly, that the Mueller report might not be accurate, at least as it relates to that part of the timeline.

Russians, Democrats and David Webb

Russians, Democrats and David Webb.

I had the opportunity a short while ago to have a nice little conversation on the air with David Webb. Webb, a conservative pundit has a regular call in show on Sirius XM. We got to speaking about the Russian attempt to meddle in our elections. I like listening to Webb because he is a great analyst. He gets right to the fundamentals, often before many other folks.

The thing that caused me to call into the show that particular day, was Webb’s comment regarding the Democrat Party and Russian meddling in our election. As usual, Mr. Webb brought into focus something that has been long ignored, actual Democrat culpability in the Russian Interference issue. I’m not talking about Clinton, the “dossier” or any of that media chum.

I’m talking about the ultimate Russian objective, which wasn’t to elect a preferred candidate in the U.S. Presidential election, but rather to sow chaos and undermine the public’s faith in our system. Webb as far as I know, is the only major pundit to clearly call out the Democrats—and the press too, for actually helping to achieve the Russian objective of sowing discord—discord meant to undermine the public faith in our electoral systems and institutions.

And what a result the Russians achieved! With the help of the Democrats, the press and of course their RINO enablers, the Russians were able to keep the first two years of the Trump Presidency focused on a 35 Million Dollar investigation that proved—nothing. While busily proving nothing, the investigation sucked attention from the President’s many accomplishments and kept the entire nation focussed on a crime that never happened.

Mr. Webb asked me, based on my undergraduate work in Soviet Foreign Area Studies and Russian Language, what was my take on Putin’s objectives, especially given that Russia really has only one asset—oil, so it’s difficult for him to have a large impact on the U.S. without expending scarce resources.

What was really happened, I responded, was that Putin used the old Soviet technique of disinformatsiya (disinformation, PSYOP or Public Dipolomacy) as an Economy Of Force” operation. EOF ops are used when military forces are extended across multiple fronts or geographic locales. Because we cannot be everywhere at all times, commanders must set priorities.

The examples I used were Afghanistan, Iraq and Africa. The U.S. Military was deeply engaged in both Afghanistan and Iraq, burning through resources at an unsustainable clip and giving units little down time to rest, rearm and refit, before being sent back into the fight. At that same time, we has serious problems in Africa, where Al Qaida was making significant inroads.

Instead of landing yet another Heavy Corps with tanks and mechanized/motorized troops, CENTCOM (US Central Command) used Special Operations forces to conduct an Economy Of Force operation across the top of Africa; Special Forces used to train indigenous forces while Civil Affairs units helped out with such things as digging wells for the locals, which along with our own information ops, helped gain and maintain public support for the local government’s fight against Al Qaida.

How does that tie into Russia? Putin did essentially the same thing. Using very few resources, he turned the entire United States Government on its head. The Russians likely spent less than a million bucks for some Facebook ads and a “bot” farm to put out false or misleading information…against both Trump and Clinton.

Think about this. If you are the President of these United States, what are your two most precious commodities? The answer of course, is time and personal energy. For a pittance, the Russians were able to execute an operation with very effort, that took a goodly chunk of our President’s time and energy and diverted it away from supporting and defending the Constitution of these United States…each and every day since he was elected.

As I told Mr. Webb, the FSB (successor to KGB) Lieutenant Colonel who developed and ran this op, likely passed up full Colonel and is now a General. The constant cacophony of the Democrats, the press and more than a few RINO enablers helped secure that promotion.

David Webb can be found M-F, 0900-1200 on Sirius XM 125.

The actress, upset over irrefutable biological facts about when fetal heartbeats begin, took to the Twitter machine in an attempt to correct the media, Republicans and pro-lifers on the matter:

Just a couple of weeks later, CNN “New Day” co-host Alisyn Camerota went from neutral anchor to pro-abortion activist in a flash with her line of questioning of Indiana AG Curtis Hill (R). The subject was the recent Supreme Court decision to sidestep the most controversial aspects of a 2016 pro-life bill Mike Pence signed into law when he was governor.

After aggressively grilling Hill with questions like “Why would you want a family to have to have a child with a severe disability?”, Camerota backtracked on the use of the term “children” to describe unborn babies:

While [Camerota] already had acknowledged at several points that the end result of a pregnancy is, indeed, a child, she catches herself referring to it as such in the womb.

“Yeah but lots of families make that decision based on — Hold on a second. Lots of families do have to make that decision based on the single characteristic of finding out their children, that their fetus, has a severe abnormality,” she said.

In the latest twist involving the mainstream media switching up the terminology they use to describe unborn children and their development in the womb, the New York Times wrote last week about Louisiana’s fetal heartbeat bill, which was signed into law Thursday by pro-life Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards.

Except they have a new term they’re using for “fetal heartbeat”, as Life News writes:

On Wednesday, the newspaper described the Louisiana heartbeat law with bizarre new language that dehumanizes unborn babies and ignores decades of scientific evidence.

Rather than say the word “heartbeat,” the New York Times used the words “the pulsing of what becomes the fetus’s heart.” It also described the legislation as a “so-called fetal heartbeat bill” – as if it is questionable whether the unborn baby actually has a heart or a heartbeat.

The anti-scientific language did not end there. In its description of the Louisiana law, the New York Times wrote:

“The measure would require an ultrasound test for any woman seeking to terminate a pregnancy, and forbid abortion if the test detects embryonic pulsing – which can occur before many women know they are pregnant.”

This new terminology is not based on facts or scientific evidence. It’s based on an agenda that supports abortion on demand. “Embryonic pulsing,” for example, is such a vague description that it is hard to understand precisely what it means. And it appears to have been used that way on purpose.

You better believe it was on purpose:

Why is this change in terminology so notable and important? Allie Beth Stuckey gets to the heart of the matter (no pun intended):

Indeed. The pro-abortion left, including their mainstream media allies, realizes that the most surefire way to keeping people believing in the “right to choose” is by dehumanizing unborn life by way of using vague or clinical terms. Like in their use of “fetus” instead of “child” or “baby.” Like in the way they’ve (falsely) asserted that there is no such thing as a “late term” or “partial birth” abortion.

Democrats and their feminist supporters have been very effective over the years at shifting the debate over abortion from being about the unborn baby and instead to being about the “woman’s right to choose.” They’ve been successful in this endeavor because liberal mainstream media news outlets like the New York Times and CNN willingly and eagerly go along with them.

In an attempt at corporate signaling Budweiser really should just wave the white flag.

In the latest bout of corporate virtue signaling Budweiser UK has come out with ads showing its support for Pride Month. While the effort itself is not, a surprise, as numerous companies are showing their support in June, the manner in which the beer maker goes about it is…curious.

It almost seems that Bud attempted to make the proper stance with the Pride demographic, but then it ran into a familiar challenge within that community: the Inclusion Paradox. There are tripwires when signaling properly here, because you may actually end up offending sub groups by not acknowledging them in a fashion they deem appropriate.

Just look at what happened as the brewer attempted to go above and beyond in recognizing those prideful sectors.

As one who is unclear on all of the machinations behind these movements, I believe this to be a nod to the intersectionalists in the pride community? But then Budweiser found itself in a quandary; what if they did not go far enough in recognizing the vital groups in the movement? After all, it seems like every week they add another sector to the LGBTQIA-califragilistic-expialidocious community.

Just as you can imagine the young marketing executive looking smug after drawing up that newly inclusive flag panic may have set in. What if they had forgotten to include another facet?! Then the beer producer could appear insensitive! Quick, fire off another addition to the flag!

There, that should cover things nicely! But wait, there are numerous other genders out there to consider! What if we forget to note those who identify otherly?! Back to the graphics design board…

As Budweiser fell into the vortex of signaling-propriety you have suddenly gotten to a point where this flag will either have stripes that are a millimeter wide, or the flag itself will need to be six feet in length.

And then it just continued, as the brewer’s marketing team clearly was foundering, their attempt to look propper now spiraling out of control.

and…

By now there are blatant problems. We have used black for three different identifiers, and we are up to at least four shades of blue. By now the Pride Flag is beginning to resemble the paint chip display board at the Home Depot.

But we are not yet finished.

And then we get so far down this rabbit hole that we have to dispense with stripes entirely. The groups have become so fractured as to require colored shapes.

By this point I just want to fly the amber-colored flag — to signify my choice…of bourbon.

I have no idea what Budweiser is even acknowledging anymore, but I hope they are proud of their attempt at pandering.

Someone get the crying towel out for Jim Acosta and Don Lemon.

Just a couple days ago before President Trump’s visit to Great Britain and London in particular, comes the word that “The Worldwide Leader in News” is shrinking its reach in England’s capital city.

You don’t say!!!

According to  The Guardian

CNN is preparing to make substantial cuts to its London-based television news operation in a move that is likely to result in at least a dozen employees losing their jobs.

The announcement was made by Jeff Zucker, the CNN boss, at a “town hall” meeting on Tuesday in the company’s office in central London.

Staff, including some managers whose shows were affected, were given no advance warning of the announcement, according to some of those present. Zucker told them that the international channel was losing $10m (£8m) a year, according to those present.

The cuts come shortly after the longstanding CNN International boss Tony Maddox unexpectedly announced he was leaving the station earlier this month.

People losing their jobs is never a good thing but if you watch CNN you know why these and other cuts are happening. The ratings continue to shrink because they are pretending to be a news organization while being advocates for certain points of views. No one can honestly watch Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon and say they are news guys. They are really bad at trying to frame stories from a certain point of view. The people who are on other networks like Fox and MSNBC at these same times freely admit they are partisans.

Thus, therein lies the rub.

CNN gave up the objectivity ghost long ago under the leadership of Jeff Zucker and no amount of railing against that point will make it any less true. Saying you are just a “news” organization but you have the programming of the editorial staff of the New York Times damn near 24/7 undercuts that talking point.

CNN should send Jake Tapper out and just admit that most of the hosts on the network don’t like Trump, conservatives in general or pro-life people and freely admit it. That would be intellectually honest instead of this hodgepodge mess they have right now. Side note to Tapper, please STOP defending your colleagues just because they are your colleagues. Just because you work at the same place does not by some magical virtue dust make them right.

AT&T recently bought out Time Warner, which owns CNN, and speculation is they are the ones pushing for these and more cuts from the flailing network. If that is true we may see even more cuts for CNN and some personnel changes coming in the very near future.

Which means Jim and Don will have to share those cry towels.
