As Red State‘s Elizabeth Vaughn wrote this morning, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY-14) was dismissive of former Rep. John Delaney’s (D-MD-6) anti-Medicare for All stance over the weekend. In a tweet, she told Delaney to “sashay away” since he was booed “for a full minute” at California’s Democratic convention:

First, his comments:

In response to the boos, he defended himself on Twitter later:

That wasn’t good enough for AOC:

The Delaney campaign fired back at the freshman Congresswoman in a statement and series of tweets Sunday and Monday, reports The Hill:

Delaney’s press secretary, Michael Starr Hopkins, released a statement on Monday saying that Ocasio-Cortez’s comments only help President Trump move toward reelection in 2020.

“The only person Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez helped with her tweet about Congressman Delaney was Donald Trump,” Hopkins’s statement reads. “If Democrats are serious about beating the President at the ballot box, we need less political grandstanding and more truth-telling from the Bernie wing of the party.

“2016 should have taught us that if we allow this primary to become a popularity contest on Twitter rather than a debate of ideas in the public square, the country will lose. We’ve seen this playbook before and it ends with a second term for Donald Trump.”

When it comes right down to it, a debate over universal healthcare vs. Medicare for All would really just amount to liberals trying to “out-liberal” each other. But the sound-bites from it could potentially be beneficial for Republicans on down the road.

On a related note, if showing sustained disapproval for comments made during a formal setting is grounds for disqualifying candidates for higher office – as AOC suggests, here’s a suggestion for what should happen with her seat this election cycle:

Make it happen, Democrats. Make it happen.

Mexico Starts Negotiating After Trump Slaps Them With Tariffs Over Illegal Immigration

Last week, President Trump set off a firestorm by saying he was going to apply tariffs of 5%, escalating to 25%, on Mexico for their failures on the border. Most reactions were negative, with countless media op-eds being churned out amid Republican and Democratic cries that it was taxation of Americans to punish Mexico.

I found some arguments persuasive, others not so much. If we are speaking about tariffs in a vacuum, they are indeed a negative impact on U.S. consumers. Sometimes absorbing a little pain can lead to long term betterment though. Using tariffs as a tool of leverage holds more value than trying to use them as a means unto themselves. Admittedly, Donald Trump has been an incredibly bad messenger on this point, constantly shifting between saying tariffs are to ensure betters deals and saying the tariffs themselves are great for America. It doesn’t work both ways. If the tariffs are great, you don’t need need a new deal, but if the purpose is to bring people to the table, then that’s more palatable.

It appears the latest threat was for the latter, as Mexico is now sending a delegation to Washington a week before the new tariffs hit their economy.

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Fighting to stave off punitive tariffs announced by U.S. President Donald Trump, a senior Mexican delegation was set to begin high level talks on Monday in Washington, where it will be pushed to do more to hold back Central American migrants.

Here’s a preview of what some of our demands will be.

The U.S.-Mexican talks begin on Monday with a meeting between Mexican Economy Secretary Graciela Marquez and U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross. On Wednesday, Ebrard meets U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

Trump on Sunday called Mexico an “abuser” of the United States and said he wanted action, not talk. Mexico has signaled it would retaliate to the tariffs, with targets likely to include farm products on Trump supporting states.

In a possible sign of U.S. priorities in the talks, which are due to run through at least Wednesday, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) acting Secretary Kevin McAleenan said on Sunday that Mexico should deploy more personnel to interdict illegal migrants along a 150 mile (241.4 km) stretch of border with Guatemala.

Mexico simply doesn’t have the leverage to retaliate on the needed scale. They are heavily reliant on U.S. exports and their economy has already retracted in the 1st quarter of this year.

I suspect some kind of deal will be reached and announced. Whether it’ll have much teeth, I don’t know. Mexico has the ability to police it’s 150 mile border with Guatemala in a much heavier fashion. By contract to the U.S. border, it’s a tiny fraction of the size. Currently, U.S. DHS agents are already down there in advisory roles. That border will be the key to stemming the flow. If hundreds of thousands of people continue to make it to the expansive U.S.-Mexico border, no amount of enforcement will be viable to stop what’s happening.

There is something to be said about the different schools of thought here. When I first saw these new tariffs announced, my first thought was that some kind of deal would be reached before they even become a factor. If that happens, Trump comes out looking like a winner. If it doesn’t, the economic impact could ultimately harm his re-election. He’s in a game of chicken right now and Mexico looks like it’s willing to blink first.

AOC’s power trip continues. Yes, the order came from on high over the weekend that 2020 Democratic presidential candidate John Delaney must exit the race.

The former congressman from Maryland spoke before the California Democratic Convention and said, “Medicare for all may sound good but it’s actually not good policy nor is it good politics.” He added that it would “kick 150 million Americans off their health care.”

His remarks were not well received by the audience who responded with a long and strong boo. Please watch the videos in the tweets below.

Many were actually laughing at Delaney. He tried to explain further. “We should have universal health care. We should have universal health care. We should have universal health care, but it shouldn’t be a kind of health care that kicks 150 million Americans off their health care. That’s not smart policy.”

Regardless of the fact that Medicare for all is estimated to cost approximately $32 trillion over the first ten years, and we simply can’t afford it, the crowd wasn’t having it and their disapproval continued.

AOC, who now boasts over four million followers on Twitter, sent out the following tweet on Sunday evening.

Since there’s so many people running for President, instead of obsessing over who‘s a “frontrunner,” maybe we can start w some general eliminations. This awful, untrue line got boo’ed for a full minute. Why Are We Throwing Milkshakes At Politicians? I Blame Keto

Westlake Legal Group NigelFarageMilkshake-1-620x336 Why Are We Throwing Milkshakes At Politicians? I Blame Keto protest Milkshakes keto Front Page Stories Featured Story

British politician Nigel Farage, in the aftermath of a milkshake attack in Newcastle. Screen grab via The AP.

I have a theory I’ve been working on for a while now, ever since this “milkshaking” fad began in Britain.

I have gone through a few fad diets in recent years (as an aside, the most success I’ve had dieting is through intermittent fasting because, as a teacher, not eating during the day is really easy when you’ve locked yourself in your classroom, hiding from paperwork, administrators, and students wanting to know if there is any work they can do to make up for a bad grade they earned by not doing work in the first place), and some of the ones that focus on lifestyle change do so through the stigmatization of certain macronutrients in order to convince you that if you just cut them out, you’ll melt the fat away.

Of the popular ones today, keto is at the top of the list.

Keto works by limiting your intake of carbohydrates and focusing on essentially training your body to burn fat as its primary source of fuel. See, the body burns carbs first, so if you cut off its access to carbs, it will start burning the stored fat for energy. However, we as a society love carbs. Especially when it comes to sugar.

So, we have to tell ourselves that carbs are bad. Most variations of keto want you to consume 20 or less net carbs (some carbohydrates, like fiber, don’t get broken down by the body, so you subtract those carbs from your total carbs), but just one small vanilla shake can often run you upwards of 50 net carbs.

So clearly milkshakes are bad.

Apparently, people who hold conservative values aren’t fit for public office or society in general. Much like carbs, conservatives are seen as something that should be completely cut out of society. They don’t have a place in our nation.

We used to throw over-ripened fruits and vegetables at people we didn’t like. Now, it’s milkshakes. Kind of feels like a step backward, right?

More importantly than that, though, is that instead of  debating ideas, we’re gonna douse people we don’t like with milkshakes and laugh at them. That’s the mature way to handle disagreement, right?

This isn’t just something happening in Britain. Matt Gaetz was hit with one in the U.S. recently. We’re seeing people who don’t want to debate ideas, but instead decide to fling milkshakes at their opponents. Like a lot of political discourse in recently years, it’s all about dehumanizing your opponents rather than winning based on the strength of your argument.

I blame keto.

Man Doxxed by Daily Beast Replies – on Facebook (the Company Complicit in the Doxxing)

As Elizabeth covered previously, an ex-con-turned-Daily-Beast-Reporter published an extremely detailed expose on the man who (supposedly) first published the “doctored” video of Nancy Pelosi over the weekend, expressing shock that the man was an African-American man from New York City and not some Russian plant.

Shortly after the Daily Beast piece was published Shawn Brooks, the man who was doxxed posted a public reply on his personal Facebook account.

Westlake Legal Group Shawn-Brooks-Facebook Man Doxxed by Daily Beast Replies – on Facebook (the Company Complicit in the Doxxing) Shawn Brooks Nancy Pelosi Kevin Poulsen Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story Featured Post facebook Doctored Video Daily Beast Allow Media Exception

Credit: Facebook/Shawn Brooks

He wrote (spelling and punctuation unchanged, emphasis added):

So as many will see that an article of me has been posted online by a left leaning site called the daily beast. I’m being accused of creating the Pelosi video that went viral. I am one of the admins of the page but i DID NOT CREATE THE VIDEO NOR DID I POST IT to the Politics WATCHDOG page. They need a fall guy and they choose me because of my background. Yes i made some mistakes in my life but the details in that article about my past does not explain the full picture and it can appear to look like i’m just some bad guy. Anyone who has had any interactions with me either online or in person must understand that i am not the person they are painting me out to be in this article. Facebook was taking heat for not taking down the video so they made me the scapegoat of this pelosi video which was the final piece for The daily beast to throw me under the bus with their article. P.S Details in that article are not 100% accurate

Considering that Kevin Poulsen, the Daily Beast “reporter,” generously cited an unnamed Facebook official as authority for his contentions, Brooks’ assertion holds water.

This clip from “The View” shows both videos, and includes Whoopi Goldberg giving Facebook some heat for not taking down the video.

Poulsen’s article depicts a back-and-forth between himself and an unnamed Facebook official. Apparently Poulsen first spoke to a contact at Facebook, then spoke to Brooks, then took Brooks’ answers back to Facebook, giving Facebook the opportunity to rebut Brooks.

Brooks first shared an “unaltered” video on his personal Facebook page, and claims that the “edited” video was not posted by him. Poulsen took that back to the Daily Beast.

“Thirteen minutes later, a Facebook official told The Daily Beast, Brooks posted a very different Pelosi video to a Facebook page called Politics WatchDog…this clip had been altered to slow Pelosi down without lowering the pitch of her voice…to make it sound as though the Speaker of the House was slurring her words drunkenly while criticizing Donald Trump.

“It’s conceivable that someone else actually edited the clip. But a Facebook official, confirming a Daily Beast investigation, said the video was first posted on Politics WatchDog directly from Brooks’ personal Facebook account.”

Brooks told Poulsen the video was posted on Politics WatchDog by another page admin, not by him, and refused to name the other admin (understandably). Who knows whether that’s true or not, but the Facebook Official had an answer for that, too.

“And a Facebook official told The Daily Beast that they simply don’t exist. According to the official, there were indeed six other accounts registered alongside Brooks as page administrators, but the company determined last week that all six of them were controlled by Brooks. Facebook deleted those accounts under its real-name policy, the Facebook official said.”

After the publication of the Daily Beast piece, Brooks posted what he says is a screenshot showing the “current admins” of Politics Watchdog on his business page.

Brooks started a GoFundMe Sunday, saying that he is exploring his legal options.

‘Odd’ Susan Rice Email To Herself Describes Final Russia Collusion Meeting, Biden Was A Participant

Westlake Legal Group joe-biden-tiny-fingers-620x412 ‘Odd’ Susan Rice Email To Herself Describes Final Russia Collusion Meeting, Biden Was A Participant william barr Susan Rice Russia Obama Administration Joe Biden Front Page Stories Featured Story Barack Obama Allow Media Exception 2020

On January 5, 2017, a meeting of senior Obama administration officials was held in the Oval Office. The topic – the Russia collusion investigation. Among the participants were President Obama, Vice President Biden, FBI Director James Comey, Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, National Security Advisor Susan Rice and several others.

In the final moments of the final day of the Obama administration, two weeks after the meeting took place, Susan Rice wrote an email to herself to document it. The email said:

On January 5, following a briefing by IC leadership on Russian hacking during the 2016 Presidential election, President Obama had a brief follow-on conversation with FBI Director Jim Comey and Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates in the Oval Office. Vice President Biden and I were also present.

President Obama began the conversation by stressing his continued commitment to ensuring that every aspect of this issue is handled by the Intelligence and law enforcement communities “by the book”. The President stressed that he is not asking about, initiating or instructing anything from a law enforcement perspective. He reiterated that our law enforcement team needs to proceed as it normally would by the book.

From a national security perspective, however, President Obama said he wants to be sure that, as we engage with the incoming team, we are mindful to ascertain if there is any reason that we cannot share information fully as it relates to Russia.

(Long Redacted Paragraph)

The President asked Comey to inform him if anything changes in the next few weeks that should affect how we share classified information with the incoming team. Comey said he would.

Declassification Date: 1/20/27

In February 2018, then-Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) came across the email and found it rather unusual. First, it was written 15 days after the meeting had taken place. Second, she used the phrase “by the book” twice. They characterized her email as “odd.” They wrote a letter to Rice which can be viewed here.

It strikes us as odd that, among your activities in the final moments on the final day of the Obama administration, you would feel the need to send yourself such an unusual email purporting to document a conversation involving President Obama and his interactions with the FBI regarding the Trump/Russia investigation.

If the timestamp is correct, you sent this email to yourself at 12:15 pm, presumably a very short time before you departed the White House for the last time.

Despite your claim that President Obama repeatedly told Mr. Comey to proceed ‘by the book,’ substantial questions have arisen about whether officials at the FBI, as well as at the Justice Department and the State Department, actually did proceed ‘by the book.’

The letter contained twelve questions which they gave Rice two weeks to answer.

Rice’s attorney answered the letter. He wrote, “Rice wrote the email to herself with the goal of “memorializ[ing] an important national security discussion,” since “President Obama and his national security team were justifiably concerned about potential risks to the Nation’s security from sharing highly classified information about Russia with certain members of the Trump transition team, particularly Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn.”

He wrote that the Steele Dossier was not discussed in the meeting. It was written on January 20th, he wrote, “because that was the first opportunity she had to do so, given the particularly intense responsibilities of the National Security Advisor during the remaining days of the Administration and transition.”

Recently, Attorney General William Barr discussed the early days of the Russia investigation with Fox News’ Bill Hemmer. He indicated that the early handling of the probe “may contain some red flags.” He said:

The thing that’s interesting about this is that this was handled at a very senior level of these departments. It wasn’t handled in the ordinary way that investigations or counterintelligence activities are conducted. It was sort of an ad hoc, small group — and most of these people are no longer with the FBI or the CIA or the other agencies involved. I think there’s a misconception out there that we know a lot about what happened. The fact of the matter is, Bob Mueller did not look at the government’s activities.”

Several weeks ago, I wrote about a Washington Post article that discussed the early days of the investigation in detail, entitled “To Maintain Secrecy During Trump/Russia Meetings, Obama Officials Cut Video Feed In Situation Room.

Initially, only four senior officials were allowed access to the Russia investigation intelligence. This group included Brennan, then-Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch and then-FBI Director James Comey. (Not even their aides were allowed in the beginning.)

According to the Washington Post:

Gradually, the circle widened to include Vice President Biden and others. Agendas sent to Cabinet secretaries — including John F. Kerry at the State Department and Ashton B. Carter at the Pentagon — arrived in envelopes that subordinates were not supposed to open. Sometimes the agendas were withheld until participants had taken their seats in the Situation Room.

These meetings began in August 2016 and officials would cut the video feed. (There is no audio feed.) Breitbart’s Aaron Klein notes that the video feed allows aides to know when a meeting is in progress.

So, aides saw only “blacked-out” screens which was highly unusual. This was “seen as an ominous sign among lower-level White House officials who were largely kept in the dark about the Russia deliberations even as they were tasked with generating options for retaliation against Moscow.”

No one knows what what discussed during these meetings, but Biden was part of the small group of officials who attended them.

In January 2018, Biden gave a speech to the Council on Foreign Relations. He said:

The bottom line was it was tricky as hell. It’s easy to say now, well maybe we should have said more. But I’ll ask you a rhetorical question — can you imagine if the President of the United States called a press conference in October … and said, ‘Tell you what, the Russians are trying to interfere with our elections and we have to do something about it.’ What do you think would have happened?

All we know is that this was not business as usual for top level Obama administration officials and they went to great lengths to maintain secrecy. And we know that Joe Biden was involved.

The RedState Box Office Report – The Lizard Thunders Quietly in Theaters

Godzilla: KOM character banner courtesy of Warner Brothers pictures

Nothing says “summer” like a big visceral action movie. The blockbuster season is all about delivering what I have called “Big Gulp Movies”: Oversized, content-light, bloated, and delivering more than is needed while becoming ultimately forgetful. (For future examples look to “Hobbs & Shaw”, and “Rambo: Last Blood” coming later.)

To go along with the CGI blast on screens was a flurry of other new arrivals hoping for counter-programming gold and finding a decent amount of business. As schools are letting out and temperatures are rising up more are going to be flocking to the air-conditioned environs of the multiplexes.

1. GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS – $49.02 Million
While a decent stake and a #1 ranking this is a disappointment for Warner Brothers. Original projections had this monster mash-up drawing in the $60-65 million range, and even that was below the much more impressive 2014 release, which drew just under $100 million its opening weekend. Things started out great for the title on Thursday. Those preview screenings brought in a healthy 6.3 million, but then Friday softened. The film was both a fanboy turnout at the start, and it suffered at the hands of the kid-friendly competition. Critics also did not help the cause, because even while exit scores were strong from audiences the experts were giving this only a 40% level of support on Rotten Tomatoes. That may have kept some at bay, since the last film drew 75% approval.

2. ALADDIN – $42.33m
A strong hold for this title that had a massive open. It dips only -53% in week two, and the interest was evident. This was the biggest challenge to the monster-verse, as on Saturday the Will Smith vehicle actually earned more than “Godzilla”. Already it has taken in a massive $185 million in two weeks.

3. ROCKETMAN – $25.0m
The Elton John biopic fared well if it did not pack the arenas. This is regarded as a strong return to the extent it should end up turning a profit with a trim $40 million budget. The obvious comparison here will be to “Bohemian Rhapsody”, which opened to double the business last November. That film earned triple the domestic box office overseas, and another British singer with a global name could do similar things in the coming weeks.

4. MA – $18.26m
With little in the way of similar content to be found this horror/thriller with Octavia Spencer managed to lure in a respectable audience. This is another trademark Blumhouse production, made on the cheap for $5 million, so this will be a money-maker.

5. JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3 – PARABELLUM – $11.1m
At $125 million earned so far it not only is easily the biggest of the three films of the franchise, it will soon outgross the combined totals of the first two films.

6. AVENGERS: ENDGAME – $7.81m
Sitting at $815 million domestically, but it now stands at $65 million shy of reaching “Avatar” for the all-time global box office total.

7. POKEMON DETECTIVE PIKACHU – $6.66m
In the coming days this one will be crossing over $400 million in global returns.

8. BOOKSMART – $3.32m
A touted female comedy for United Artists it has very modest returns, having earned $115 million total, while on a smaller release platform of 2,500 screens.

9. BRIGHTBURN – $2.31m
After a softer-than hoped-for opening this plunges a stark -70% in week two. It should have a massive drop in screens next week as a result of this dismal performance.

10. THE HUSTLE – $1.3m
Managing to linger around due to softer competition at the bottom of things. The ladies never managed to turn much attention their way.

Devin Nunes Demands All Underlying Documentation From Mueller’s Investigation; Says ‘It’s All A Fraud’

Westlake Legal Group Redacted-Mueller-report-620x413 Devin Nunes Demands All Underlying Documentation From Mueller’s Investigation; Says ‘It’s All A Fraud’ Robert Mueller President Trump Mueller Investigation John Dowd Front Page Stories Featured Story FBI and DOJ Corruption Devin Nunes Allow Media Exception Abuse of Power

JON ELSWICK/ASSOCIATED PRESS

Prosecutor Robert Mueller disgraced himself thoroughly last week.

On Friday, we learned that the Mueller team had “selectively edited” the transcript of a voicemail from President Trump’s lawyer, John Dowd, to make it appear as if Trump had obstructed justice. This was discovered because federal prosecutors released the transcript in a court filing. My colleague Bonchie reported that story here.

Such a discovery raises the very legitimate question, what else did the Mueller team misrepresent in their report?

Two days prior, Mueller called a surprise press conference. He read a deliberately dishonest statement to a gathering of reporters at the DOJ after which he took no questions and said his report speaks for itself. He even introduced us to a new legal standard, the presumption of guilt, until proven innocent. He disingenuously told his audience that making a decision on whether or not the President had obstructed justice was “not an option” for he and his team, when that was precisely what they’d been tasked with. If that were so, why were they able to come to a conclusion on Russian collusion.

Speaking to Fox News’ Bill Hemmer, Nunes said, “The Department of Justice is not supposed to be telegraphing whether or not somebody is possibly guilty or not. Either you are or aren’t. Either they’re going to prosecute you or they’re not.”

Finally, in what he and his pit bull Andrew Weissmann might have thought of as very clever, he delivered the unmistakable message to House Democrats that it was time to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Trump. It’s little wonder he was such a nervous wreck as he stood before the podium.

Much of the information we’ve learned about the Deep State has come from the efforts of Rep. Devin Nunes’ (R-CA) who served as the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee throughout 2017 and 2018. Although he no longer chairs the committee, he has continued working to uncover the truth.

Given Mueller’s deceptive performance last Wednesday and the discovery of the team’s attempt to edit Dowd’s voicemail, no one can pretend this man is impartial. Nunes is now demanding that his committee gain access to all the underlying documents, as he should. The congressman tweeted, “This is why we need all backup and source documentation for the #muellerdossier released publicly. It’s all a fraud…”

Nunes said, “Robert Mueller knew there was no evidence of Trump-Russia collusion the moment he walked into the door as special counsel.”

Mueller may hope that Wednesday was the end of his involvement in this national melodrama, but it seems to have only increased the calls from both sides of the aisle for him to testify before the House. I don’t see how he could get away with not testifying. He doesn’t seem to understand the gravity of his remarks. He just thought he could hit and run. But this man has much to answer for.

Kiev, Ukraine – May 20, 2013 – Hand pointing on keyboard with social media logotype collection of well-known social network brand’s placed on keyboard buttons. Include Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Google Plus, Instagram and more other logos.

Editor-in-chief of The Daily Beast, Noah Shachtman, breathlessly tweeted about an “exclusive” story which was about to go up on their site. One of his cracker-jack reporters, Kevin Poulsen, had “found the guy behind the viral “drunk Pelosi” video.” Pelosi’s voice had been slowed and her “vocal pitch lowered to make her seem even less articulate than usual.”

The article, entitled “We Found The Guy Behind the Viral ‘Drunk Pelosi’ Video,” identifies the man by name and even tells us about his employment and criminal histories.

Poulsen begins, “The video that racked up millions of views and sparked a national conversation was uploaded by a sports blogger from the Bronx, currently on probation for domestic battery.”

Big League Politics’ Tom Pappert reports that this man is a manual laborer and African American who runs a series of Facebook pages and websites promoting President Donald Trump and conservative policies. His name and identity were not public information prior to Poulsen’s post.

First, why did Poulsen dox this individual? He was a private person. Politicians are public figures. Everyone knows the clip of Pelosi was doctored. But she is fair game.

The Daily Beast presents Poulsen’s report as if it’s important journalism. Why would they do this? Are they trying to use their platform to intimidate people from discrediting Democrats?

Here are some responses to Schachtman’s tweet:

“Brooks, a 34-year-old day laborer currently on probation after pleading guilty to domestic battery…Not surprising.”

“Court records show that In February 2018 he was written up for a probation violation, and a California judge issued a warrant for his arrest. A spokesperson for the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the warrant is still outstanding.”

“A review of Brook’s personal fan page reveals him as an avowed conservative and a proud member of Trump’s razor-thin African American support base. A couple of Brooks’ Instagram posts feature misogyny.”

“This ought to be a criminal offense. He’s so typical of the usual suspect-a knuckle-dragging trump lover. Worst of all, every bit of subsequent reporting can’t undo what’s been done. There really ought to be a law.”

“Wow. A Trump-loving black conservative New England Patriots fan. I’d say he was a unicorn. But unicorns conjure beautiful fantasies with rainbows and pastels and sweetness. And this girlfriend-beating misogynistic rage-filled troll is a nightmare supported by @facebook

@SpeakerPelosi should sue him.”

There were a quite a few who disapproved:

“Why the f**k are you squawking like a schoolkid about a faked video and calling it what it isn’t? #MediaBozo

“You guys still wonder why people hate you more than Trump?”

“This is how you guys spend your time? Lol. Layoffs by August?!”

“Really? Wow, you guys do some SERIOUS journalism!”

“Wow heros.”

“Some truly important journalism happening here. If you ever wonder why the media polls worse than the Ebola virus, it because of nonsense like this.”

“Reported. Doxing is NOT cool.”

“how do they not yet have a pulitzer for doxxing members of the public for posting content that doesn’t support the MSM’s preferred agenda?”

“all details about the guy aside, you think it’s ok for the media to doxx people? you aren’t the authority you think you are. it is not your job to “find facts” just report them. the media is not powerful, you arent the gatekeepers of truth”

“I’m going to savor the next round of layoffs. I truly am.”

“Wow, you finally found him. Now we can relax.”

And this, from Twitchy:

But, a funny thing often happens when one does wrong. Karma:

Pappert writes that Kevin Poulsen has had a little trouble with the law himself. “He is a former black hat hacker who was banned from using the Internet from the 1990s until the early 2000s.” The following is an excerpt from a theta.com archive:

In November 1989, Poulsen was indicted on 19 counts of conspiracy, fraud, wiretapping and money laundering. If convicted, the charges could have brought him up to 37 years in jail. But Poulsen did not go quietly. He fled, and was beyond the reach of law enforcement for 17 months.

Poulsen had burrowed deep into the giant switching networks of Pacific Bell, exploring and exploiting nearly every element of its computers. His forays led to a now-infamous incident with KIIS-FM in Los Angeles. Each week, the station ran the “Win a Porsche by Friday” contest, with a $50,000 Porsche given to the 102nd caller after a particular sequence of songs announced earlier in the day was played.

On the morning of June 1, 1990, the trio of songs was played on the air. Businessmen, students, housewives and contest fanatics jammed the lines with auto-dialers and car phones. But Poulsen had a different method. He and his associates, stationed at their computers, seized control of the station’s 25 telephone lines, blocking out all calls but their own. Then he dialed the 102nd call — and later collected his Porsche 944.

But that wasn’t all. He allegedly wiretapped the intimate phone calls of a Hollywood actress, conspired to steal classified military orders, cracked an Army computer and snooped into an FBI investigation of former Philippine president Ferdinand Marcos — all while working on national security matters.

This same information can be found on Poulsen’s Wikipedia biography.

What is it they say about those who live in glass houses?

CNN Purposely Takes Trump Out of Context and Misrepresents His Comments About Meghan Markle

I’m shocked, shocked I tell you. On the plus side, I’m getting a lot of use out of the above fake news t-shirt picture.

When I first saw the headline for this story, I knew there had to be more to it. Trump is a bull in a china shop, but randomly noting that Meghan Markle “is nasty” seemed a bit much.

Here’s how CNN reported it.

Describing his comments, CNN reported in its headline: “Trump tells The Sun: Meghan Markle is ‘nasty’”.

The chyron on CNN’s television segment on the matter read: “Trump Calls Meghan Markle ‘nasty’ Ahead of UK Trip”.

Conservative establishment favorite and supposed straight shooter, Jake Tapper, got in on the action as well.

Seems bad doesn’t it?

I also think I’d be remiss not to note the obvious racial insinuations being made by these headlines. They might as well have written “Trump calls bi-racial woman nasty for no reason.”

As usual, the real story turns out to be much more different than CNN makes it out to be. Here’s the full transcript.

What Trump was actually saying was that he didn’t realize that Meghan Markle had been nasty about his possible election with her pledge to leave the country for Canada. He was not calling her “nasty” as a person and he was answering within the context of a question asked of him.

This isn’t even one of those times where you have to sort of interpret what Trump meant. The transcript is clear. Anybody that speaks English can read it and see exactly what he was saying. Framing it as Trump asserting that Markle “is nasty,” as CNN did, is simply false.

Furthermore, instead of engaging with the reporter, who’s obviously trying to get a rise out of him, he goes on to praise Markle in an attempt to clear the air and move on. In its full context, this story resembles absolutely none of the impressions the headlines CNN put out are giving.

Remember this the next time Jake Tapper, Jim Acosta, or whoever at CNN gets their feelings hurt at being called fake news. These people have earned the moniker and continue to justify its use every single day. No one is making them bare their biases so regularly. It’s an active decision.

Want more credibility? Act more credibly.
