We are apparently stuck in some layer of hell that requires us to constantly relive the 2016 election. Democrats are still trying to re-litigate with their various Trump investigations and not a month goes by without Hillary Clinton herself letting us know the election was stolen from her.

Former President Barack Obama is no exception as new revelations in an upcoming book reveal his reaction to Hillary Clinton’s loss.

Former President Barack Obama was unhappy with Hillary Clinton and her failed “soulless campaign” in 2016, saying he saw her loss as a “personal insult.”

The new details come from a recently released update to New York Times Chief White House Correspondent Peter Baker’s book Obama: The Call of History.

The new edition, which includes Obama’s reaction to the 2016 election, said Obama compared himself to Michael Corleone, the titular character of “The Godfather.” Obama thought he “almost got out” of office untouched, like a mob boss avoiding a hit job.

That’s pretty rough, although is he wrong? Her campaign was essentially rudderless, with no real purpose articulated and led by one of the most robotic, inauthentic people to ever run.

What’s just as funny in these comments is just how much of a narcissist Obama is. Why would he take it as a personal insult? His term was over. The comparing himself to the Godfather is also pretty comical. It is a window into his mind though. He really saw himself as some transcendent figure, floating above it all and never making any mistakes. Of course, those of us living in reality saw plenty of scandals and flubs by the former President but he clearly has no self-awareness of that.

The irony here is that Obama’s failures were a large factor in the environment that allowed Trump to win. Had he been less divisive and less dismissive of his opponents, perhaps Hillary would have garnered that last 75k votes she needed in MI, PA, and WI? Instead, he propagated constant division, leading to events such as the Ferguson riots. He also refused to compromise at all with the GOP when it came to legislation.

The book details that Obama could not believe Americans had “decided to replace him with a buffoonish showman whose calling cards had been repeated bankruptcies, serial marriages and racist dog whistles.”

Again, perhaps Obama should reflect on why he was replaced with Trump? Instead, he seems oblivious to the idea that anyone could do anything but love him. So while Obama’s shots at Clinton aren’t wrong, he should perhaps take a long look in the mirror if he wants someone to blame for the 2016 election.

Because in the end, no one had more to do with Trump becoming President than Barack Obama.

Ever wonder what explicitly left-wing media is telling its followers about conservative news coverage?

In February, MediaMatters.org ran a piece pitching to its readers various ways right-leaning sources misrepresent reality.

One of its targets was yours truly.

Sometime during the 2nd month of the year (the site doesn’t date its articles — something I find maddening), outspoken vegan Cory Booker gave an interview to VegNews.com.

During the conversation, he said the following:

“You see the planet earth moving towards what is the Standard American Diet. We’ve seen this massive increase in consumption of meat produced by the industrial animal agriculture industry. The tragic reality is this planet simply can’t sustain billions of people consuming industrially produced animal agriculture because of environmental impact. It’s just not possible.”

It seems to have become extremely trendy on the left side of the aisle to say the Earth can’t take this or that — there are too many people, there are too many farts, everything’s “unsustainable,” and we’ll all soon perish.

There is never, of course, proof of this, and environmentalists have been spelling out doom — and being embarrassingly wrong about it — for decades. Aside from the 70’s Ice Age threat, see Al Gore’s massive fireball fumble here.

Furthermore, the shouters of impending calamity introduce what seems to me the most immature of ideas: that a city, state, or even the U.S. will dictate the fate of the entire globe by changing a few things (please see here).

Talk about American arrogance — we’re not the only ones here. We are 328 million strong. The world is 7.6 billion.

The world wins.

Back to Cory and VegNews:

Booker says the “devastating impact” of greenhouse gases produced by the meat industry is “just not practical.”

And:

“The numbers just don’t add up,” he said. “We will destroy our planet unless we start figuring out a better way forward when it comes to our climate change and our environment.”

I wrote an article on the VegNews interview (seen here), asserting that Cory’s statements weren’t scientific, that America is a drop in the bucket, and also this:

[B]y the time the spinning globe dies (or, really, self-destructs) due to its own natural system of carnivorism, hopefully the Green New Deal will have eliminated that most sinister of AOC-targeted enemies: cow farts (here).

I furthermore recommended a new nickname for Cory: Farticus.

Here’s Media Matter for America’s reporting on my write-up:

RedState: Booker “dropped some (non)science recently” in his pro-veganism interview. The RedState post mocked Booker’s interview, calling his comments “really idiotic” and “(non)science,” and bizarrely claimed that the relatively recent invention of industrial-scale animal farming is part of Earth’s “natural system of carnivorism.” The article ended with a reference to Booker’s conduct during Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings, suggesting the senator should now be called “Farticus” for “leading the brigade against those Nazi air biscuits” and for “eating so much fruit.”

I stand by the nickname.

They got some stuff right — my story was indeed titled “Cory Booker Continues His ‘Say Really Idiotic Things’ Series: You Must Go Vegan Or Destroy The Earth.” So “idiotic”? Check.

But I did not, in any way, “[bizarrely claim] that the relatively recent invention of industrial-scale animal farming is part of Earth’s ‘natural system of carnivorism.’”

That was a flat-out lie.

In fact, I made literally no mention at all of “the relatively recent invention of industrial-scale animal farming.”

None.

Whatsoever.

They think I believe the industrial revolution came from the dirt? That human inventions are part of Mother Nature?

I only said that people are going to continue eating meat. And yes — eating meat is the natural way for much of the planet’s animals. Including humans.

But for people who only know what they read on MediaMatters, RedState is a place where people make “bizarre claims.” ‘Cause, ya know, we’re crazy.

For more on the MM’s big report — which also addressed coverage by Fox, National Review, The Federalist and others, enjoy, my fellow loons.

Yesterday the New York Times ran a rather astonishing story. The FBI, working through their mouthpiece, New York Times reporter Michael Schmidt, revealed that it had employed an agent of an intelligence organization (they want us to believe this woman named “Azra Truk” is an FBI counterintelligence agent but they never say so and that, as they say, is a “tell”) to try to build a personal relationship with then-Trump adviser George Papadopoulos.

The story is extraordinary from a couple of angles. First, it shows that even though the FBI elected to not give a defensive briefing to Candidate Trump on their concerns about some members of his campaign, they did elect to try to spy on some members of that campaign. Papadopoulos believes that Turk was one of at least two women dangled in front of him hinting they would trade sex for information (let me pause here for a second and remind everyone that men often mistake mere attention for sexual interest). Of course, if they went to this extent on Papadopoulos, you know a “high value target” like Carter Page probably had FBI folks crawling up his butt. Second, we learn the operation was run by a counterintelligence agent from the New York field office of the FBI who just happened to have a long history of working with NeverTrump fanatic, former US Attorney for the Southern District of New York Preet Bharara. What makes it really interesting is that the FBI prophylactically revealed the story ahead of the upcoming report by DOJ IG Michael Horowitz and are the spin they put on it was that they did this to protect the Trump campaign.

Anyway you cut it, this would be significant story to a news organization. But if you were invested in the collusion hoax and anything that made the backstory to that hoax look untoward would not be helpful. Of all the pretend-unbiased media, two outlets fall squarely into the latter category. CNN and MSNBC have pushed every half-baked story on the collusion hoax for at least two years. And, lo and behold, MSNBC has no stories since yesterday mentioning either Azra Turk or Papadopoulos.

CNN is only a little better. Papadopoulos is mentioned in this 48-word story that effectively sanitizes the events to sound like a business meeting. Azra Turk is not mentioned at all.

I don’t know what they mentioned on air, but it is pretty clear that this story didn’t rate a mention anywhere near the hysteria that numerous and demonstrably fake stories about Papadopoulos did rate.

This is not mere editorial judgment. When the FBI admits it ran a counterintelligence operation against a member of a political campaign, that is news because that is just not the way our political system is supposed to work. When they made this admission to the New York Times, it is significant. When a network has devoted the level of resources to the collusion hoax that have CNN and MSNBC, you can’t say that you don’t see a reason to cover the story. There is exactly one reason. The collusion narrative is in tatters. Everyday it is looking more and more like a soft coup attempt in which the major media were knowingly or inadvertently complicit. They want the story to go away because the can see how this ends if the story doesn’t die.

In light of a new report from the New York Times earlier this week detailing an FBI “honey trap” of sorts that was allegedly set for Trump campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos, Vice President Mike Pence appeared on Fox News this morning to discuss allegations the campaign was spied on in 2016, including during the presidential transition process.

The Hill reports:

Pence is doubling down on President Trump’s calls for a probe into the origins of special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election, saying that the public “has a right to know” how the investigation began. Trump has suggested bias was involved.

“We’ve got to get to the bottom of how all this started,” Pence said in an interview with Fox News’s Sandra Smith. “The American people have a right to know how this investigation even began.”

“And as the attorney general said when he testified before Congress, there was spying. We need to understand why there was [and] whether there was a sufficient predicate,” he continued.

When asked by Smith whether he believed he had also been spied on, Pence replied: “Well, I think we need to find out.”

Watch the interview segment below:

Last month, Attorney General William Barr stunned Democrats when he said that he believed the Trump campaign was indeed spied on and vowed to conduct a thorough review of all available information in order to make a more conclusive determination:

“I think spying did occur,” Barr said during a Senate Appropriations subcommittee hearing. “But the question is whether it was adequately predicated and I’m not suggesting it wasn’t adequately predicated, but I need to explore that.”

“I am going to be reviewing both the genesis and the conduct of intelligence activities directed at the Trump campaign during 2016,” Barr told lawmakers. “A lot of this has already been investigated and a substantial portion that’s being investigated is being investigated by the Office of the Inspector General of the department.”

As to that upcoming Inspector General’s report, President Trump talked about it last week on a segment of Sean Hannity’s program:

President Donald Trump used the word “blockbuster” to describe the Inspector General’s forthcoming report on the FBI’s use of Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrants to surveil Trump’s 2016 campaign amid concerns of Russian interference.

Inspector General Michael Horowitz has been investigating whether the FBI abused FISA procedures in its targeted Russian-related surveillance operations, including on at least one former member of Trump’s campaign, foreign policy adviser Carter Page.

The FBI applied under FISA to conduct surveillance on Page—who has denied any wrongdoing—because it believed he had conspired with the Russian government, according to its application in October 2016. It also filed sought renewal warrants after Trump took office.

Horowitz is expected to report his findings in either May or June. Trump and his allies accused former senior members of the FBI, including ex-director James Comey, of obtaining FISA warrants by deceiving the court about the intelligence on which its applications relied.

House Oversight Committee member Mark Meadows (R-NC) said in April “it’s highly likely” we’ll see more criminal referrals once the report is released:

“We’re fully anticipating that the [DOJ inspector general’s] report will come out as Attorney General Barr said in the next four to six weeks, and I think it’s highly likely that we’ll see criminal referrals coming from them that will correspond with what Chairman [Devin] Nunes has already put forth,” Meadows said.

Horowitz, by the way, is an Obama appointee from back in 2012 so it’s going to be interesting to see how Democrats spin the results of his investigation once the details are made available.

As I wrote last week in response to Joe Biden’s absurd claim that the Obama-Biden administration was scandal-free, it was actually plagued with scandals, and the biggest one – “Spygate” – may soon be revealed depending on what we learn from the IG’s report and Barr’s review.

Stay tuned.

CNN Viewers are So Few, They’re Outnumbered by Witches and Other Fringe Groups

The fine folks at the Media Research Center took the latest abysmal numbers discussing CNN’s viewership and compared them to groups in the United States that many would consider fringe. The results actually make CNN look even worse, to say the least.

As I previously covered, CNN’s April ratings have been an unmitigated disaster, having lost over a quarter of its total audience compared to this same time last year. That’s a loss of 237,000 viewers since April of 2018. The network is failing to achieve a million viewers during its primetime hours, peaking at 767,000.

So what groups outnumber CNN viewers?

Newsbusters highlighted that there are more prostitutes in America than CNN viewers, with an estimated total of 1 million hookers in the United States.

It gets worse.

According to Newsbusters, there are more witches and pagans, more real estate agents, and more households likely to keep chickens than flip on CNN:

There are more real-estate agents in the United States (1.3 million) than there are CNN viewers. And many more people work at Walmart (1.5 million) than watch CNN.

One survey suggests there could be twice as many witches and pagans in the United States (1 to 1.5 million) than there are CNN viewers.

Americans are more likely to ride a bicycle to work than to watch CNN. According to a new report from the Census Bureau, 836,569 Americans over the age of 16 say they ride a bike to work.

More households keep chickens and other poultry birds as pets (1,020,000) than tune in to CNN’s primetime shows, according to a survey from the American Veterinary Medical Association.

So you’re more likely to run into a witch than you are a CNN viewer in the wild. That’s gotta sting.

The drop in ratings — or at least its biggest drop — happened after the Mueller report was released and it was discovered that President Donald Trump hadn’t done any colluding with the Russian government, nor was he guilty of obstruction of justice.

This news was taken so hard by the left that some news outlets denied it for a time, instead choosing to believe that this was somehow damaging to Trump. CNN was one of those networks, and while everyone in the cable news sector has taken a bit of a hit, CNN has definitely taken the most damage.

A new study has discovered that of all the religions in the world, Christians are the group facing the most persecution, with levels so bad they’re nearly qualifying as genocide.

According to the BBC, a recently released report found that Christians faced more persecution than the other group and indicated that the reason this isn’t more widely known is due to the fact that it’s politically incorrect to talk about it.

The report warned that Christianity is in danger of disappearing from some parts of the world, with the frequency and severity only getting worse as time goes on, and quickly approaching genocidal levels:

The interim report said the main impact of “genocidal acts against Christians is exodus” and that Christianity faced being “wiped out” from parts of the Middle East.

It warned the religion “is at risk of disappearing” in some parts of the world, pointing to figures which claimed Christians in Palestine represent less than 1.5% of the population, while in Iraq they had fallen from 1.5 million before 2003 to less than 120,000.

“Evidence shows not only the geographic spread of anti-Christian persecution, but also its increasing severity,” the Bishop wrote.

“In some regions, the level and nature of persecution is arguably coming close to meeting the international definition of genocide, according to that adopted by the UN.”

The issue is rarely talked about, even on the governmental level, due to many believing that showing sympathy for religion often associated with colonizers would be unpopular with the people. British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said that it’s rarely considered that Christians weren’t just spreading their religion during colonialization, but even during times when they were being forced into regions as well.

“That has perhaps created an awkwardness in talking about this issue – the role of missionaries was always a controversial one and that has, I think, also led some people to shy away from this topic,” said Hunt.

“What we have forgotten in that atmosphere of political correctness is actually the Christians that are being persecuted are some of the poorest people on the planet,” he added.

Hard for the hosts to deny while they are providing the evidence to support the claims.

Anyone who watches the MSNBC early news program Morning Joe (a job requirement for us, at times) is aware that hosts Joe Scarborough, and especially Mika Brzezinski, are particular animated when it comes to cases of sexual harassment. Well — slight correction. Cases of harassment alleged upon those on the right. When it is a member of the liberal herd who is accused suddenly their firm stances shift to something more interpretational.

Joe and Mika have no qualms mentioning how President Trump is a serial abuser, and they were in full throat last fall when Brett Kavanaugh was accused with laughably spurious accusations of harassment in high school. As recently as last week however Mika did a complete 180 on her stance that we should “believe all women”, when it came to the issue of Joe Biden possibly being a serial harasser. Suddenly the women were exaggerating and not worthy of discussion, as she and Joe rose to the VP’s defense.

The Daily Beast has come out with a report that declared when it came to another proven male predator the two hosts were sympathetic to his plight and attempted to aid in resuscitating his career. It was in the Fall of 2017 when Mark Halperin, a frequent member of the Morning Joe panel, was revealed by numerous women to have engaged in inappropriate sexual advances and creating a hostile work environment. This resulted in his being removed from the program, fired from another job on a cable news program, and losing a book deal.

In the ensuing years Halperin had initially disappeared, but of late he has been gradually cultivating a return to relevance. According to the TDB report, Halperin has been making overtures to various individuals who may assist in bringing him back to a level of public exposure. Among those looking to lend him support — Joe & Mika, those moral authorities with little tolerance for sexual predators.

Last year, ahead of the midterm elections, the hosts had planned on creating an online program to cover the various races, with Halperin contributing. They did so without first being granted approval to include the deposed pundit.

According to multiple sources at MSNBC—which, along with NBC News, dismissed Halperin as an on-air political analyst when the allegations surfaced—the network scrapped a plan for the Morning Joe anchors last fall to collaborate with Halperin on an online-only program analyzing the 2018 midterms. According to these sources, Scarborough and Brzezinski didn’t seek prior approval to involve their friend and former regular panelist in the show, and colleagues reacted with surprise and concern when they got wind of the scheme. “Everybody was going ‘WTF!,’” said one MSNBC insider.

It was early last month when Mika included a segment on their morning program about an appearance Halperin made on Sirius XM Radio. He sat in with Michael Smerconish, and Mika warmly detailed Halperin’s efforts at rebuilding his reputation. Then just this morning Mika’s paramour Joe Scarborough — possibly oblivious to the Daily Beast report that had been filed Thursday in the evening — hilariously substantiated the article.

Joe all but confirmed the article when he tweeted out a link to an article that Halperin wrote, on Halperin’s own blog, Wide World Of News.

Overall, you have to think things could improve significantly for Mark Halperin. If you recall, Mika and Joe were very energetic in their promoting of sexual abuser Donald Trump during the 2016 primaries. That turned out to be a rather positive conclusion for him.

Trump Tells Democrats to Pound Sand Over Requests for Testimony

Westlake Legal Group nadler-e1355597245299 Trump Tells Democrats to Pound Sand Over Requests for Testimony Robert Mueller Pound Sand Jerry Nadler investigation Interview House Democrats Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story executive privilege donald trump Don McGahn democrats

This isn’t going to make Jerry Nadler happy.

President Trump is done cooperating with a Democratic House that’s done everything they can to weaponize that cooperation against him. In the past, Trump has allowed many people to testify despite having the right to claim executive privilege. This was a stark departure from how Obama handled things, who routinely bucked testimony by his officials.

Instead of acting in good faith given Trump’s previous openness, Democrats are continuing to make ridiculous demands as they desperately search for some legal issue to press.

In response, Trump is now telling House Democrats to pound sand over their request to reinterview former White House Counsel Don McGahn.

President Trump told Fox News in an exclusive wide-ranging interview Thursday evening that the White House has lost patience with congressional Democrats, and forcefully dismissed their efforts to subpoena former White House counsel Don McGahn and other administration officials to testify.

“They’ve testified for many hours, all of them. I would say, it’s done,” Trump told Fox News’ Chief Intelligence Correspondent Catherine Herridge. “Nobody has ever done what I’ve done. I’ve given total transparency. It’s never happened before like this. They shouldn’t be looking anymore. It’s done.”

In the case of McGahn, Trump clearly has the right to claim executive privilege over their interactions given that essentially everything the Democrats are interested in is covered under that umbrella. Some partisans suggest that because Trump allowed McGahn to testify to Mueller that he’s waived that right. That doesn’t add up. Executive privilege is specifically meant to protect testimony before Congress and Trump still has the right to do that.

Regardless, there’s no doubt that Jerry Nadler will go to court to try to show otherwise. In the end, none of this will matter because the 2020 election will take place before it’s all adjudicated.

I actually think this nonsense helps Donald Trump. The longer Democrats play games while not actually impeaching, the more petty and partisan they look. He should continue to focus on the economy and stonewall their investigations with every legal mechanism at his disposal. The clowns in the Democratic House do not deserve any voluntarily cooperation at this point.

The DOJ shot down Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee Jerry Nadler’s subpoena for the full, unredacted Mueller Report and underlying documents on Wednesday.

A letter from Assistant Attorney General Stephen Boyd to Nadler said, “Allowing your committee to use Justice Department investigative files to re-investigate the same matters that the department has investigated and to second-guess decisions that have been made by the department would not only set a dangerous precedent, but would also have immediate negative consequences.” The letter also said Nadler’s subpoena was “not legitimate oversight” and an “overbroad and extraordinarily burdensome” request.

On Friday, Nadler sent a new offer to Barr (which can be viewed here) in his mission to obtain the full report. He has also threatened to hold Barr in contempt if he fails to comply by Monday at 9 am.

Nadler’s letter begins by asking why the DOJ “is willing to allow only a small number of Members to view a less-redacted version of the report, subject to the condition that they cannot discuss what they have seen with anyone else.” He asks Barr to reconsider this.

Nadler notes that the DOJ is also “unwilling to work with the Committee to seek a court order permitting disclosure of materials in the report that are subject to Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 6(e).” (Note: Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 6(e) indicates grand jury material.) He reiterates his request that the DOJ work together with his staff to obtain a court order that would permit Congress to obtain this material. Nadler said Congress has obtained Rule 6(e) material in the past under the “judicial proceeding” exception.

Next, Nadler writes:

The Committee is willing to prioritize a specific, defined set of underlying investigative and evidentiary materials for immediate production. As indicated in item two of the Committee’s subpoena, the Committee has a heightened interest in obtaining access to the investigative and evidentiary materials specifically cited in the report. This discrete and readily identifiable set of documents includes reports from witness interviews (commonly known as “302s”) and items such as contemporaneous notes taken by witnesses of relevant events. Since these materials are publicly cited and described in the Mueller report, there can be no question about the Committee’s need for and right to this underlying evidence.

He claims that because current DOJ policy does not allow a sitting president to be indicted, it is especially urgent that Congress be able to review the underlying evidence. In a reference to impeachment, Nadler added, “Congress must be allowed to “evaluate whether constitutional remedies are appropriate.”

Nadler wrote that the DOJ’s insistence that “Congress’s requests do not serve “legitimate purposes” is not the Department’s judgment to make.”

Big, bad Jerry Nadler. I’m sure Barr is shaking in his boots.

Romney’s Hilarious Tweet On Biden And China

Who says you can’t teach old dog new tricks?

Not that I’m calling Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) old in the strictest sense, just that for someone who’s lived most of his life without social media, he’s (or someone on his staff) has picked up on the right way to use it.

For example, following Biden’s weird and ill-advised comments on what he believes is a decided lack of threat posed by China to the U.S., Romney’s official Twitter account — pulling straight from the list of best, most effective, most succinct Twitter memes —  gives us this:

Apart from using a great, and well recognized, Twitter meme to make a compact and targeted point, Romney’s tweet hearkens back to his warning about Russia while running against Barack Obama in 2012, for which he was lambasted as some kind of out-of-touch simpleton that needs to live in the now. If you need a reminder of that (and how the press covered for Obama’s cozy relationship with Russia back then), The Washington Post has you covered.

The [hot-mic] back-and-forth between Obama and Medvedev quickly became fodder for Republicans. Romney jumped on it, asking what Obama meant by “more flexibility.”

Romney went on CNN and said: “This is without question our No. 1 geopolitical foe. They fight for every cause for the world’s worst actors. The idea that he has more flexibility in mind for Russia is very, very troubling indeed.”

Obama offered a jab that spawned approving headlines: “The 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back because the Cold War’s been over for 20 years….When it comes to our foreign policy, you seem to want to import the foreign policies of the 1980s, just like the social policies of the 1950s, and the economic policies of the 1920s.”

Romney’s tweet regarding Biden’s comments on China killed twin birds — both the Obama administration’s strange foreign policy approach as well as the idea that Romney was out of touch to point it out — at the same time. And all with a single, recognizable Twitter meme.

Welcome to the now, Sen. Romney. And well-played, as the kids say.
