Joe Biden Just Lost Any Claim to Being a Moderate With His Embrace of the Green New Deal

We hear a lot about former VP and 2020 candidate Joe Biden’s “electability.” This so-called electability stems from the idea that Biden is a return to a more moderate Democratic party, and away from the infection of radicalism that has seized it.

But anyone who was leaning on Biden for centrism is gravely mistaken, and it’s proven with his nod toward Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s “Green New Deal.” In fact, Biden not only thinks it doesn’t go too far, it doesn’t go far enough, according to the Daily Wire:

Biden made the remarks during a CNN town hall event on climate change that was set up in a way that sensationalized the issue with hysterical claims and featured numerous false claims from candidates.

“Do you think it goes too far?” CNN’s Anderson Cooper asked Biden about the Green New Deal. “Is it unrealistic promising too much?”

“No, no it’s not,” Biden responded.

Biden continued by suggesting that the plan actually did not go far enough in terms of laying out specifics for how it would be implemented.

The problem is that the “Green New Deal” is essentially a socialist takeover of the United States more than it is a climate bill. It calls for a massive restructuring of America’s infrastructure that is, frankly, so unrealistic that even Democrats were laughing at it. Even environmental groups are distancing themselves.

To this day, Ocasio-Cortez still hasn’t told us how we’re going to pay for it. What’s more, AOC herself has more or less admitted that it’s an avenue to a social justice driven society and the advancement of its agendas. What she’s not telling you is that her plan would also require a lot of materials we can only get from places like Russia and China, who would indebt us deeply that they’d essentially own us.

Embracing any of this isn’t a sign of centrism. This is radicalism, plain and simple. If Biden is embracing this kind of thing and even saying it doesn’t go far enough, then Democrats would do well to distance themselves from Biden as fast as they possibly can.

At this point, America has two options in 2020. It’s either Donald Trump or socialism. There doesn’t seem to be an option outside of these two.

The ladies of ABC’s “The View” were back from summer break on Tuesday and it didn’t take long for the fireworks to start as a discussion of mass shootings and gun rights got underway.

CBS News reports on what co-host Meghan McCain said in response to her colleagues’ suggestions that gun confiscation programs like the one 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke proposed were the way to go:

During the show, co-host Whoopi Goldberg pointed out the suspect in the shooting was able to purchase his assault-style rifle through a “loophole.” As co-host Sunny Hostin pinned blame on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s lack of action on any assault weapons legislation, McCain chimed in the debate as “the chick on the panel that spent most of her break shooting.”

“This is a ground-level issue for me,” she said, targeting 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke’s mandatory buyback plan. “If you’re going to be a gun-grabber, you don’t get my vote, period. We got to have a different conversation.”

Longtime host Joy Behar brought up the federal assault weapons ban in 1994 under former President Bill Clinton. “If you keeping rooting for Republicans, you’re going to get nothing done.”

“The AR-15 is by far the most popular gun in America, by far,” McCain said. “I was just in the middle of nowhere Wyoming, if you’re talking about taking people’s guns from them, there’s going to be a lot of violence.”

“But they lived without them for many years during the ban,” Behar replied.

“I’m not living without guns,” McCain responded. “It’s just that simple!”

Eric Swalwell (D-CA) who, fresh off of mocking “good guys with guns” after Saturday’s Odessa/Midland mass shooting, lied about McCain’s position in an attempt to score cool points on social media:

She didn’t “threaten violence.” She predicted there would be violence. Big difference. Even though Swalwell has proven to be a miserable failure when it comes to debating female Second Amendment supporters in the past, he should at least try to get the basic facts right in the future.

Disgraced attorney and fraud Michael Avenatti commented on McCain’s remarks as well in a desperate attempt to deflect from his serious shortcomings:

Some even called for McCain’s removal from the show over her remarks.

But as 2nd Amendment activist Stephen Gutowski notes, liberals have a serious problem with the truth – because McCain wasn’t wrong:

Tucker Carlson made a similar argument to McCain’s on his program Tuesday night, noting that there was no such thing as a “gun buyback”:

“Now you will hear propagandists, and you often do hear propagandists, describe that as a ‘gun buyback.’ But that’s nonsense, of course,” Mr. Carlson said. “Americans didn’t buy their guns from the government in the first place. They’re not buying them back. This is gun confiscation. It’s nothing but that.”

“So, this is — what you’re calling for is civil war. What you’re calling for is an incitement to violence. It’s something – I wouldn’t want to live here when that happened, would you?” Mr. Carlson said later in the segment.

[…]

“He’s going to confiscate firearms from tens of millions of law-abiding Americans whether it works or not, and he doesn’t care what you think about it,” Mr. Carlson said.

In response to all of this, here was the garbage take from the far left moonbats at Media Matters, an organization that exists purely to destroy Fox News and conservative media so only liberal viewpoints are allowed:

Conservative pundits floating violent reprisals as a response to gun safety legislation are echoing far-right extremist and militia rhetoric

It’s always fascinating to me watching unhinged liberals who have called for “revolutions” when they lose elections, who threaten to violently “take to the streets” in response to legislation they don’t like, who urge supporters to “get in the faces” of Republicans because Orange Man Bad, defend violent Antifa thugs, and who were perfectly content with the militant tactics of Occupy Wall Street as a way of forcing comformity complain when conservatives talk about what might happen in response if the government starts forcibly taking away guns that they legally own.

Do they even listen to themselves?

Media Cancel James Mattis After They Learn His Book Criticizes the Wrong President

Westlake Legal Group ap-james-mattis-steely-gaze-620x411 Media Cancel James Mattis After They Learn His Book Criticizes the Wrong President the washington post The Atlantic resistance Politics media bias Mad Dog James Mattis Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story Eric Holder donald trump democrats Barack Obama

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis listens to a question about Russia from the media at the Pentagon, Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, in Washington. Senior American and Russian military leaders met for an unprecedented, face-to-face session somewhere in the Middle East this week to discuss the growing tensions in the competing battles to retake one of the remaining Islamic State strongholds in Syria. (AP Photo/Alex Brandon)

When it comes to foreign policy, the President has the final say, no matter how strongly his advisors feel. The media didn’t seem to understand this and constantly portrayed any decision Trump made as dangerous and illegitimate. Somehow, the world hasn’t gone into a nuclear meltdown though. It’s almost like they have no idea what they are talking about?

One such decision was Trump wanting to pull out of Syria. It was enough that James “Mad Dog” Mattis resigned over it. That’s fair. If he couldn’t do the job anymore, I’m not going to criticize him for deciding to move on. The irony of the entire situation is that Democrats, who cheered Obama’s disastrous pull-out from Iraq, suddenly become the hawkiest of war hawks, but I digress.

The current story is that Mattis is writing his memoir and that got the media press corp really excited. You see, because Mattis left on rocky terms from the Trump adminiatration, including a fairly forward resignation letter, the expectation was that he was going to blast Trump.

So you got headlines like The Man Who Couldn’t Take It Anymore from The Atlantic and The Man Trump Wishes He Were from The New York Times. You could almost see the foam forming around their collective mouths. They were about to get another tell all they could fluff for weeks, and if that meant rehabilitating a person they used to hate in James Mattis, then that was a price they were willing to pay.

Then something happened. While Mattis’ book laid into a President, it just so happened to be the wrong President in the media’s eyes. That would be Barack Obama.

The National Review provides some excerpts.

When the Arab Spring came to Egypt in 2011, “I thought we should use quiet diplomacy to urge inclusive government.” Obama instead called for Hosni Mubarak to resign. Mattis writes:

President Obama came out vocally against Mubarak, insisting that in Egypt, “we were on the right side of history.” Having read a bit of history and found that events, good and bad, had been “written” by both good and evil characters, I put little stock in the idea that history books yet to be written would somehow give yearning Arabs what they fervently desired today.

In the spring of 2011, Attorney General Eric Holder revealed an Iranian plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador on U.S. soil. Mattis urged the White House to make the public case for reprisals against Tehran. He was rebuffed. “We treated an act of war as a law enforcement violation, jailing the low level courier.”

Obama was essentially willing to let Iran get away with anything to preserve his doomed nuclear deal. Mattis also points out his incredible naivete when it came to the Arab Spring, which turned out to be one of the worst things to happen to happen to the Middle East in regards to stability, as fundamentalist Muslims were further empowered.

Mattis was informed he would be relieved of command in December 2012. He writes:

I was leaving a region aflame and in disarray. The lack of an integrated regional strategy had left us adrift, and our friends confused. We were offering no leadership or direction. I left my post deeply disturbed that we had shaken our friends’ confidence and created vacuums that our adversaries would exploit.

The following year, Barack Obama failed to enforce his “red line” against Syrian dictator Bashar Assad’s use of chemical weapons against civilians. “This was a shot not heard around the world,” Mattis writes. He continues:

Old friends in NATO and in the Pacific registered dismay and incredulity that America’s reputation had been seriously weakened as a credible security partner. Within thirty-six hours, I received a phone call from a friendly Pacific-nation diplomat. “Well, Jim,” he said, “I guess we’re on our own with China.”

What is so ironic about all this is that the left, including their media mouthpieces, now constantly attack Trump for supposedly not supporting our allies or causing “confusion.” Yet, when Obama was President, you never heard a peep about that despite the fact that he was consistently selling our partner nations down the river for his own personal delusions and showing absolutely no salient strategy at all.

The Washington Examiner provides another piece from the book.

“While I fully endorse civilian control of the military, I would not surrender my independent judgment. In 2010, I argued strongly against pulling all our troops out of Iraq,” Mattis writes. (Earlier in the book, he recounts a discussion he had on the subject in Baghdad with Vice President Joe Biden, who was in charge of Iraq policy but “ignoring reality” and uninterested in the considered opinion of the general in charge of operations there.) “In 2011, I urged retaliation against Iran for plotting to blow up a restaurant in our nation’s capital. In 2012, I argued for retaining a small but capable contingent of troops in Afghanistan. Each step along the way, I argued for political clarity and offered options that gave the Commander in Chief a rheostat he could dial up or down to protect our nation.”

The commander in chief chose another option: fire the CENTCOM leader.

“In December 2012, I received an unauthorized phone call telling me that in an hour, the Pentagon would be announcing my relief,” Mattis writes. “I was leaving a region aflame and in disarray.”

Isn’t it odd that the media found no fault with how Mattis was dumped, only being given an hour before the Pentagon would relieve him, yet they lost their minds of Comey’s unceremonious firing? It’s almost like there’s bias there, and because Mattis didn’t end up hitting the “right” target, the excitement for his book vanished overnight. Worse, they are now attacking him.

USA Today ran with a story titled James Mattis Promotes a Book that Is Silent About Donald Trump. It’s a Disservice.

Mattis, who left the Pentagon last December after clashing with President Donald Trump over Syria policy, used the phrase in addressing U.S. troops in the field, reminding them of their duty as guardians of the nation’s nearly 250-year-old democracy.

It remains Mattis’ duty as well…

…But Mattis won’t tell us, though his book doesn’t shrink from criticizing past presidents such as George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

Because if there’s anyone who knows about service and duty, it’s some “journalist” desperate for another dose of Trump bashing.

And just like that, Mattis is cancelled.

No doubt, one day Mattis will choose to talk about his time in the Trump White House. Until that time though, he can look forward to many more chastising editorials accusing him of letting his country down because he refuses to kneecap a current President. Whether you agreed with Mattis’ take on Syria or not, he did the right thing in stepping down and he’s doing the right thing now. None of this is a game. There are real stakes in the world and burning that down simply to give Joe Scarborough, Rachel Maddow, or whoever another hit to keep their TDS high going isn’t the priority.

Alyssa Milano Challenged Ted Cruz to a Debate, and I Don’t Think She Knows What She’s In For

Westlake Legal Group ted-cruz3-620x317 Alyssa Milano Challenged Ted Cruz to a Debate, and I Don’t Think She Knows What She’s In For Ted Cruz Politics Hollywood Guns gun control Front Page Stories Featured Story debate Bible Alyssa Milano Allow Media Exception 2nd Amendment

Say what you will about Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas but we know a few things for sure. The guy is funny and witty, he’s a bit of a nerd, and he’s one of the best damn debators currently walking the halls of Washington. If you’re stepping into a debate with Cruz, then you better know your stuff backward and forward, because he does, and he may even show you that he knows more about your own argument than you do.

I’m not sure former actress turned activist Alyssa Milano knows this about Cruz. Like most people on the left, they just see an evangelical politician with ideas they consider backward and outdated. This is probably why Milano told Cruz that she’d love to debate him in person, and Cruz naturally accepted.

It all started when Milano asked someone to quote the passage of the Bible where it said we have a right to a gun. Cruz responded by saying that while the Bible doesn’t mention guns specifically, the Bible does mention a right to life and liberty, and this includes the right to defend your life and family.

Cruz continued by citing Exodus 22:2, and laying down how it relates to the Constitution and then proceeded to give examples of how American citizens used their firearms to protect themselves and others in something. It was, to say the least, a good educational opportunity for Milano.

You can read the entire story of this back and forth by my colleague Sister Toldjah.

Milano, however, didn’t take it well. She challenged Cruz to a public debate so that the “American people can hear your bulls**t 1st hand.” She said that after throwing 1 Peter 4:8 at him, which tells us to love each other deeply above all.

Cruz graciously accepted under the condition that the conversation is “civil and positive.”

“I’d be happy to sit down & visit next week about uniting to stop gun violence & about the Constitution. If we can have a civil & positive conversation—in the spirit of 1 Peter 4:8 as you suggest—despite our political differences, that might help resolve the discord in our Nation,” tweeted Cruz.

Milano needs to understand going in that she’s probably not as equipped as she thinks she is for this debate. She’s only demonstrated that she debates on raw emotion and any facts she presents seem to be altered to fit a worldview. Her use of 1 Peter 4:8 is a perfect example of this, but she’s demonstrated other times when she’s tried to utilize Biblical passage to push left-leaning agendas.

In April, Milano attempted to use Christs’s words in John 3:12 to justify abortion. The passage refers to Christ talking about how the path to Heaven is to be born again, and Milano essentially used the passage to justify killing a child before they can even be born a first time.

Meanwhile, Cruz’s knowledge runs deep and he’s shown he’s capable of critical thought. As Brandon Rottinghaus, a political science professor at the University of Houston said after watching him against Beto O’Rourke, “Cruz thrives on this kind of political combat and is hard to put on the canvas.”

Cruz has been doing this for a long time too. He’s been a debate champion since he was in college. If it’s any testament to how good he is, he was the last man standing in the 2016 Republican primaries against Donald Trump.

Milano is going to come out swinging with accusations and mistruths, and Cruz will shrug it off by calmly stating facts. Milano, given her past, will likely appeal to emotional arguments that won’t phase Cruz in the least, but he will show sympathy towards them, further making her look someone who brought a rubber knife to a gunfight.

Milano’s newfound relevance has gone to her head. She believes that retweets are proof that her arguments are good. She’s about to find out how wrong she is.

Poll: Over 70 Percent of Republican Students Stay Silent About Their Views Out of Fear for Their Grades

Westlake Legal Group AP_83464665887_resize-620x413 Poll: Over 70 Percent of Republican Students Stay Silent About Their Views Out of Fear for Their Grades university republicans professors Politics leftist Front Page Stories Featured Story fail college bias Allow Media Exception Academia

We know that academia is filthy with hard-left leaning professors and students, and it seems like college-aged Republicans are few and far between in academia. As it turns out, they’re not uncommon, they’re just incredibly quiet due to fears that if they’ll speak out, their professors will harm their grades.

According to The College Fix, an online poll from last month showed that Republican students kept their mouths shut about their beliefs by a whopping 73 percent:

The online poll was conducted in late August exclusively for The College Fix by College Pulse, an online survey and analytics company focused on college students. Only students who self-identify as Republican or Republican-leaning were polled.

The question asked: “Have you ever withheld your political views in class for fear that your grades would suffer?” Seventy-three percent of students who identity as “strong Republican” reported that they had, while 71 percent of students who identify as “weak Republican” said yes.

Even students who identify as Republican-leaning independents indicated they’ve kept quiet: 70 percent reported they have withheld their political views to protect their grades.

This is a sad ordeal. Higher education is supposed to be where your beliefs and understanding of things are tested, that is true, but not being able to express any beliefs out of fear is horrible.

Students were asked to make comments, and some of them are stories of being singled out by their professors who acted angrily toward them or witnessed a professor fail a student for having a right-leaning paper.

“I wrote a 19 page research paper on a Christian pro-life movement. I was the only one in the class that, when presenting my paper, had a “surprise visitor” (who was the teacher’s very liberal friend) argue [with] me about their views,” wrote a student from Western Kentucky University.

“I actually got yelled at by a professor for my views on gun control. It wasn’t an argument or anything, just plain one-sided insulting,” wrote another student from Notre Dame.

“When writing papers for gen ed classes? Absolutely. I know a guy who chose to write a pro-border wall argumentative essay for our super liberal professor and the prof just wrote “this whole paper is one big fallacy” and bombed him. Me? I wrote about the evils of horse racing. Perfectly safe topic,” wrote a student from Clemson.

“In my sociology class, my professor asked us if we would give our child hormone blockers if they believed they were transgender (that was the day’s lesson). One guy said he would rather teach his daughter to love her body the way it is than change it. She [sat] straight up said “so you would be a bad parent then? What was your name again?” Then she went to type something on her computer. Not a good day for him, I’m sure,” said a student from Arizona State.

College Republican groups are catching on and becoming more popular, but would likely be much larger in size if it weren’t for the fact that many students feel it better to keep their heads down and get the necessary grades to graduate.

Students pay a lot of money to attend Universities and would rather not sacrifice the time, funds, and their future by vocalizing their “wrong-think” in front of their professors. While it’s easy to say that these students should be braver and stand up for themselves, the real attention should be focused on the professors.

Something needs to be done about this infection, and stripping government grants and funding if even one student is failed due to his or her political opinion should be just the start.

Legal Fight Brewing As Judge In Epstein Case Considers Release Of Documents Containing ‘Hundreds’ Of New Names

FILE – This July 27, 2006 arrest file photo made available by the Palm Beach, Fla., Sheriff’s Office shows Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein, a wealthy financier and convicted sex offender, has been arrested in New York on sex trafficking charges. Two law enforcement officials said Epstein was taken into federal custody Saturday, July 6, 2019, on charges involving sex-trafficking allegations that date to the 2000s. (AP Photo/Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, File)

Bloomberg reports that District Court Judge Loretta Preska “is considering how to carry out a ruling by the federal appeals court in New York that she must consider unsealing some of the documents.” It is the opinion of the appeals court that “such filings should be made public.” These documents contain hundreds of additional names in a 2015 defamation case against Jeffrey Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell.

The case was filed by one of Epstein’s alleged victims, Virginia Giuffre. Giuffre claimed she’d been recruited by Maxwell and that Maxwell had “defamed her by calling her a liar.”

At Wednesday’s hearing in Manhattan, Maxwell’s attorney, Jeffrey Pagliuca, told Judge Preska that amongst the sealed records is an address book with about 1,000 names. Pagliuca said these documents  were not among the 2,000 pages of material released on August 9th, the day before Epstein’s death. He argued that these records “should remain sealed because they weren’t entered into evidence before the case settled.” The 2015 case was settled in 2017 just before it was set to go to trial.

The attorney representing the alleged victims, Sigrid McCrawly, said that, with the exception of social security numbers, medical information and the names of minors, all of the records associated with the defamation case should be unsealed. She noted that, “Anybody whose information is in the documents would be notified so they could object.”

Apparently, the potential release of additional names has some people worried. On Tuesday, one of the individuals named in the records, identified only as “John Doe,” has requested that the records remain sealed or that his name be redacted.

At the hearing, Judge Preska said she would “consider the documents in batches.” This process could take weeks or months.

Following Epstein’s apparent suicide last month, the case against him was dismissed. It’s unknown if his alleged victims will take legal action against Maxwell or any of the men involved in the case. My guess is they will at the very least go after Maxwell.

In a way, Maxwell’s crimes were even worse than Epstein’s, for it was her responsibility to procure the girls who would service him. Several of Maxwell’s acquaintances spoke to Vanity Fair’s Vanessa Grigoriadis in August. From their comments, a picture begins to emerge of a soulless woman willing to do almost anything to hold onto her man, the late, depraved and ruthless Jeffrey Epstein.

According to a source, Maxwell would visit spas and speak to the shower room attendants and show up at trailer parks searching for young, beautiful girls. She would claim she had a phone job to offer, telling them “you’ll make lots of money, meet everyone, and I’ll change your life.” The reality of the situation was that she was conning them into lives of degradation and desperation. But Maxwell could not have cared less.

The source said, “When I asked what she thought of the underage girls, she looked at me and said, ‘they’re nothing, these girls. They are trash.’”

What Will The Democratic Primaries Produce?

Westlake Legal Group democrat-debate1-620x317 What Will The Democratic Primaries Produce? Trump primary President Front Page Stories Featured Story Election Dems democrats democratic Allow Media Exception 2020

From left, Sen. Michael Bennet, D-Colo., Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro, Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., former Vice President Joe Biden, Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., Andrew Yang, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio are introduced before the second of two Democratic presidential primary debates hosted by CNN Wednesday, July 31, 2019, in the Fox Theatre in Detroit. (AP Photo/Carlos Osorio)

A two-dozen participant primary is probably not what the Democratic Party actually wanted, but it’s what they got.

An intra-party fight ahead of a big election is probably not what most people would consider “ideal” if the goal is to go into an election with a united front against whatever the incumbent party has ready for you. Many people would see it as merely a means of dividing your party at a pivotal moment, however, I would tend to disagree with that assumption in most cases.

For example, I think the intense primary of 2016 was hugely beneficial to the Republican Party (which may surprise many of you). It was vital to see where the Republican Party was, and a smarter party would have learned the lessons of the election cycle (one of those lessons would be “listen to your base” but, alas, I don’t think most Republicans in power learned that lesson at all and would rather choose to just wait out Trump). It also had the nice little bonus effect of rooting out the not-so-Republican Republicans, who now openly espouse liberal beliefs and lament what happened to their “party.”

The primary process is a good one. It forces candidates to fine-tune the messaging. It makes them work to get supporters they might other not reach, all in an effort to beat the other guys. By the end of the process, they have a working, proven platform and a coalition to ride into the general election.

A smarter Democratic Party should be aware of this, and should be openly embracing letting the bloodshed continue. But the DNC’s debate rules have been restrictive thus far, and have forced candidates off the stage. It was one of my complaints during 2016’s “kid’s table” debates, as there were plenty of Republicans who had the ideas necessary to shape policy coming into the general election, but they never had the chance.

Objectively speaking, with as many voices having access to the voters as the Democratic candidates have had, should make 2016 a tough year for Trump’s re-election. Assuming recession fears can hold off and not become realized for another 15 months (I suspect they will, but the tariffs remain a big part of that equation), then Trump could ride the success of his economy back into the White House in 2020. However, if he stubbornly hold on to the tariff policy and actually continues implementing war, the highs the economy has been riding will disappear and we will probably see the beginnings of a recession – a situation the Democrats could easily take advantage of.

That would assume, of course, that the primary process has allowed a single Democrat to build a large coalition between the fringe and the moderate Democrats alike and there is a unified plan to push the country back toward the middle with promise of erasing the tariffs, normalizing the American economy, and focusing on bringing civility and equality back to the American political process.

All of that is certainly possible, should Joe Biden remain THE guy the Democratic voters go with, and provided Biden can stop himself from making gaffes that cause his own aides to shudder with regret. However, Elizabeth Warren is on the rise, Bernie Sanders remains at the top, and the loudest voices are trying to out-progressive each other.

The end result is that the candidates will continue pushing each other further and further to the left – Obama will be lamented as not tough enough in his policies, and the candidate and their team will focus on pushing the country back to the left, not the middle.

That scenario, the one that seems most likely to play out, will actually make it easier on Trump, no matter the tariff/economic situation in America. Trump won in 2016 on the strength of the “I’m Not Hillary Clinton” trait he happens to have. Likewise, his “I’m Not Elizabeth Warren/Bernie Sanders” trait will keep him afloat against one of those two superprogressives. A race against Joe Biden will be tougher, but if Biden is pushed too far left, he’ll fall victim to the same fate.

Objectively, the Democrats are falling victim to themselves. Data does suggest Trump has weaknesses, and the Democrats can exploit those weaknesses if they attack from the moderate angle (as well as the civil/respectable angle). But, they seem more likely to take the “We have to be a Socialist Trump” route and will try to ride a manufactured populism into the general election and be crushed because of it.

The primary process should make them recognize the need for a coalition across the board. However, they’ll just see the moderate voters as those who need to be converted or run off – and it’s the latter scenario that will hand them a loss next November.

Hollywood Star Isaiah Washington Guests on Fox Nation to Explain Why He #WalkedAway

Actor Isaiah Washington was once a Democrat. But like the great Dave Rubin, he walked away (here).

The Grey’s Anatomy star appeared on Fox Nation streaming service’s Nuff Said Wednesday to explain his migration away from the Donkey.

Isaiah said staying with the party no longer felt right:

“There’s a risk and there’s a penalty for it, but you have to walk away when it matters…and the reason I chose to walk away from the Democratic party…is that something doesn’t feel right.”

Isaiah brought up an interesting idea: The Democratic Party’s reportedly been the choice of black voters for half a century; how’s that gone?

“I don’t know where I’m going, but I know where I come from, and if I look at the political image of the Democratic party over the last 50 years of my life since I was five…and very little has changed for my community, then I have some questions, more than questions.”

And it’s time to skeedaddle:

“Now I have empirical evidence that something is wrong and there is room for this walk away movement.”

Baffingly, Isaiah’s political involvement began with a White House invitation by that widely-known and most powerful of all Klan members(?): Donald J. Trump — to celebrate the First Step Act.

From the initiative’s official website:

The FIRST STEP Act (S. 2795), introduced by Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D- RI) and Sen. John Cornyn (R – TX),will ensure people are prepared to come home from prison job-ready and have major incentives to pursue the life-changing classes that will help them succeed on the outside.

Currently, the federal prison system is failing to achieve its purpose – rehabilitation- and instead rips people away from their families, leaves them with fewer opportunities than when they entered into the system, and ultimately decreases public safety.

The FIRST STEP Act is an important piece of legislation that begins to address this. This bill will put the focus back on rehabilitation and finding ways to give people an opportunity to come home and succeed.

“No one asked me about my personal opinions politically or intellectually. They didn’t care. I was a commodity and I was happy to be one. I’ve only become political since I left the White House recently.”

So what’s it like to split from the Dems and still try to move in Hollywood circles?

Jon Voight makes it look easy (here).

But Seinfeld’s J. Peterman, John O’Hurley, recently confirmed conservatives aren’t much appreciated:

“It’s very difficult to be a conservative in Hollywood. Even though there are many of us, you do feel you are an island fighting the storm… all viewpoints must be observed and respected. At the same time we are supporting free thinking, we also have to support free receptors – people that will allow other ideas to infect them. Some of the best convos I’ve ever had on Seinfeld…were with Michael Richards, who thinks totally different than I do. I couldn’t wait to present him with an issue because I was always interested in his perspective. Brian Cranston…is the complete opposite of me. We can sit for hours and discuss an idea…not with the premise of trying to convince each other.”

Isaiah seemed to confirm the notion:

“You got a lot of conservative or centric libertarian-minded people that really care about other people but they are terrified to come out of the closet and say anything that’s not in line with the Democratic party. I’m going to support the policy over the person.”

David Hogg Makes a Stunningly Ignorant Claim About Buying a Gun vs Voting, and Twitter Eats Him Alive

We’re living in an age of participation trophies and selfie stickS.

And for some reason, people are being encouraged to speak on things about which they’re completely unaware.

Black-masked fascists are fascistically fighting for fascism while calling themselves the opposite as some applaud and agree.

Revolutionaries are hocking socialism without ever having stopped to find out what it means.

Black people are being called white supremacists (here).

People are raging with bigotry while condemning the word.

Why know things? Why make sense? Just assume you already know all that is in the world, with no reason to think so. It can get you elected to Congress.

It can also land you a position as noted activist — just witness David Hogg’s recent point-making tweet:

You might think he’d wanna find out if that’s true first. But nope!

So here we go:

People offered a variety of angles:

So there ya go, folks.

But I’ve saved the best for last.

It doesn’t get better than this:

Department of Labor Reinstates Leif Olson After Bloomberg’s Libelous Attack on Him Blows up in Their Faces

Yesterday, a vicious and dishonest reporter working for Bloomberg named Ben Penn ran a vicious and dishonest story smearing labor attorney Leif Olson, a recent hire by the Trump Department of Labor, as an anti-Semite based on some Facebook commentary on Paul Ryan’s electoral curb-stomping of what appeared to be an actual anti-Semite (though, in fairness, not sufficiently so as to stand out at a meeting of the House Democrat caucus), Paul Nehlen. Any sane reading of the commentary would have identified it a facetious and making Nehlen the butt of a joke. But Penn and his editors pushed out the story branding Olson as an anti-Semite. (See the coverage by Sister Toldjah. Instead of doing the right thing, a gutless Department of Labor asked for Olson’s resignation.

In short order, especially after he began to receive heat even from the left, Penn was crowing about how he’d taken out a Trump appointee who was assisting in the rewriting of wage and hour regulations.

Late this afternoon, the Department of Labor reconsidered.

The Department of Labor reinstated a political appointee Wednesday night who resigned under pressure after a Bloomberg Law reporter accused him of anti-Semitism for a Facebook post in which he was actually condemning anti-Semites in the alt-right, the Daily Caller News Foundation exclusively learned.

Acting Secretary Patrick Pizzella “personally made this decision after carefully reviewing all the facts and circumstances,” a senior Labor Department official told the DCNF. “He concluded that a correction is much better than an injustice.”

The outcome is just but it points to several related issues.

First, the response by Department of Labor was inexcusable. While it is conceivable that Olson tendered his resignation at the first hint of trouble, it is more likely that someone within the Labor Department’s management structure demanded Olson resign. If the latter is the case you have one of two things going on. Either that person is trying to sabotage the Administration’s agenda or they are a flaming gutless pus-bag. Either way, they need to be booted.

Second, it is very, very obvious that the media are acting as a journalistic hit squad and working on behalf of the Democrat Party and progressive activists to try to stymie the ability of the Administration to govern. This can only work if the Administration doesn’t treat them as what the obviously are, that is, the Biblical nest of vipers. If you thought the behavior of the media during the Russia hoax was limited to coverage of President Trump, now you know that is just how they roll.

Third, the fact that nothing ever happens to the people in the media who generate these bogus, politically motivated hits on Administration figures (how many fake scoops did CNN manufacture on the Russia hoax?) clearly shows that this is a pattern of behavior that is accepted if not actually encouraged and rewarded by major media outlets. At a minimum, Bloomberg should have apologized. They haven’t. They really should have disciplined Penn and his editor. They won’t.

This behavior is going to get worse as we get closer to November 2020 and when Trump gets reelected it is going hit stratospheric levels.
