(AP Photo/Susan Walsh, File)

After months of demands that wavered between whining and desperate pleas, Democrats in the House of Representatives have finally gotten what they wanted with the announcement Tuesday of July 17th back-to-back hearings featuring special counsel Robert Mueller.

Democrats are convinced, it seems, they’ll be able to prove Attorney General William Barr mischaracterized the findings in Mueller’s report concluding no collusion between Trump’s 2016 campaign and Russian operatives.

Republicans, however, see the demand that Mueller testify — which they’ve been generally unopposed to — as a cynical political ploy meant to harm Donald Trump in the run-up to the 2020 election.

Democrats are furious at what they say was an effort by Attorney General William Barr to misrepresent Mueller’s findings, and they see the hearing as an opportunity to set the record straight and highlight details from a report that most voters have not read.

“I think that given the nature of what he has to say, given the nature of what’s in the report, he will be a very compelling witness,” House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) told reporters Wednesday.

Republicans, who have generally not been opposed to Mueller testifying, assert that the Russia report vindicates the president of allegations of “collusion” with Moscow. And they argue that Democrats are attempting to relitigate Mueller’s investigation in order to score political points against the president heading into 2020.

“The same committee that is trying to drag Mueller in is the committee that has jurisdiction over the border, and we have a crisis at the border and they’re focused on impeaching the president,” said House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), referring to the Judiciary panel. “That’s a dereliction of their duty.”

Former House Oversight Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-SC), now a Fox News contributor who was known as a brilliant questioner during his time on the Oversight Committee, says there are 5 categories of questions he thinks Mueller should be asked during his testimony. He delivered those to Sean Hannity Wednesday.

Speaking to both Hannity and fellow guest Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), who will be part of the hearing and will be held to a 5 minute question session, Gowdy offered the following advice:

“You have to be very strategic and have a pretty narrow goal,” Gowdy [said]. “I want you to think in terms of ‘buckets’.”

Gowdy said those categories were bias, legal issues, findings, things Mueller did not find, and things the former special counsel did not “bother to look for” during his two-year-long Russia investigation.

Regarding ‘bias,’ Gowdy claimed Mueller’s office hired, “people who wanted Clinton to win and Trump to lose” in the 2016 presidential election.

“I would encourage Devin…to think about this, what did [Mueller] not bother to look for?,” Gowdy asked. “Y’all just got through talking about Samantha Powers and other people in the American government that may have wanted to influence either an election or an administration. We spent two years focused on whether a foreign country was going to influence or interfere with our election. Mueller, did you look at our own government? Did you look at what our own people were doing to maybe put their own finger on the scale? Did you interview Christopher Steele? Do you know which Russians were feeding dirt to the American electorate via the DNC? Did you interview Jim Simpson? Did you interview Jim Comey about why he leaked those memos?”

Democrats in Florida Stand Outside the Homestead Immigrant Facility and Lie About What is Inside

Westlake Legal Group Warren Democrats in Florida Stand Outside the Homestead Immigrant Facility and Lie About What is Inside Politics immigration immigraant children Front Page Stories Front Page Florida Featured Story Featured Post Elizabeth Warren democrats Democrat Debates Campaigns Border Wall Funding border security Allow Media Exception 2020

The desire for a photo-op and debate traction shows a lack of desire for the facts.

Elizabeth Warren stood in the harsh Florida sun, with 90+% humidity, wearing her librarian sweater. She resembled the President of the local Ravelry Knitting Collective, as she held a megaphone and bleated about the harsh treatment of children on the property. Welcome to the madhouse; the Presidential campaign season has officially opened, and there is probably no better place to launch this psychosis than the mental ward known as South Florida.

As has been the case here for centuries, my home region is being overrun with an infestation — this one of the political nature. There were a number of locations suggested for the nearly two dozen candidates to swarm in order to glom some pre-debate media coverage.

It was suggested that Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School be a destination for the gun-nabbing candidates. Sure, school is out, but the scene of a massive tragedy would make for a swell backdrop. Politicize those deaths for poll numbers!

The environmentally-focused runners would be setting up in the Everglades, of course, and a current brush fire would make for the PERFECT backdrop! What better way to underscore the need for environmental reform than a natural calamity?! What these out-of-towners would miss however is that the fires in the Everglades are part of the natural cycle of replenishment and growth. It is not a man-made disaster in need of government intervention.

This particular fire was set off by a storm that I drove through on Sunday, set off by lightning strikes. There is no legislation that can be offered to remedy a natural event. Drought cannot be blamed either, as this area has been inundated with heavy rain for over two weeks. Maybe there will be a new Democrat policy to limit lightning activity; this is a tall order, as our state is one of the most active areas in the world for lightning.

But no surprise to learn that the Homestead immigrant facility would be a favored media stop. Liz Warren did her posing and sounded rightfully outraged. She may prefer you not pay too close attention to her words, however. The first thing she did was refer to the facility as “A stain on our country,” and then she made the call for emergency border funding. Yes, Elizabeth — about that.

Let us first recall, for the better part of 2018, and months into this current year, most Democrats spent their time excoriating President Trump by saying there was no border crisis. Curious what has changed in the past few months, beyond a campaign being ramped up? Also, if this need for funding at the border was so crucial, why were you not in Washington D.C. the day prior? I ask because a crucial vote took place — regarding emergency border funding. (And also for the record, it was your party that voted against such funding, Ms. Warren.)

There is something else taking place when politicians like Elizabeth Warren and Super-PAC funded celebrity activist Alyssa Milano arrive and demand they be allowed inside this facility to disrupt the activities of the children. When they are complaining about conditions, and comparing the place to a concentration camp, know this — they are lying.

Having covered prior political chicanery concerning this particular location, I, at least, have something these bleating self-interested figures lack — insight. It was almost one year ago exactly, in the run-up for the mid-term election when politicians attempted to politicize this facility. Then Senator Bill Nelson and Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz stormed the location with a “surprise” visit, to see the horrors contained therein. Conveniently this was not a surprise for the dozens of electronic media who happened to arrive as well that morning.

After being rebuffed by the management, and told they could come back a few days later with a scheduled visit, the politicos feigned outrage. But eventually, they and select members of the press were allowed in. It seems they were disappointed in what they discovered inside — things were quite pleasant. Imagine being in a position where you are let down to find out children are being treated with care and kindness.

This location had previously been a Department Of Labor building, used for Job Corps activities. It was recommissioned to become a holding location for immigrant minors. This conversion began in 2015. That means this facility became a “stain on this nation” at the order of the Obama administration. Ms. Warren’s handlers may want to rework their language accordingly.

There are a number of hysterical Democrat-fed myths about this facility that get blasted to confetti with the facts. This is not a holding center where everyone is caged and sleeps on concrete floors. It is dormitory housing. Every child is provided with their own bed. They are fed three meals daily in the cafeteria. For protection, they are segregated by ages to avoid conflicts and abuses.

In defiance of Democrat declarations of withheld supplies, upon arrival, each child is assigned their bed, given at least five days worth of clothing, and is issued a hygiene kit. Their days involve a variety of activities. They receive schooling in select subjects and engage in art projects. They have ample time to play outside, and watching sports and movies is offered.

One New York Times reporter who toured the place noted that about the harshest condition she saw was a number of the children had sweaters. It turned out many were unaccustomed to the central air conditioning, inside this climate-controlled “concentration camp.

One other major talking point of the Dems was dispelled by the Miami Herald, which also had been at the location — that being these children have been wrested away from doting parents. At the time of the visit, there were 1,175 children being housed on location. Of that total, over 1,100 of them had come to the United States as unaccompanied minors. As you hear calls from the debate podium that these kids need to be released immediately, note that no moderators asked this follow-up question: Where would you release these children with no families?! The streets? Allow them to remain with the coyotes who brought them into our country?

The facts reported are that the average length of stay for the children inside Homestead is less than one month. In that time, either relatives in the states are located to take them in, or foster families are secured. In the meantime they are properly housed, cared for, and tended to. We are, in fact, doing the benevolent thing.

The attempt of the Democrats to offset responsibility onto Donald Trump and use falsified condition reports is both cynical and cravenly political. Trump did not sneak these facilities into existence to the surprise of the conveniently outraged. Conversion of government buildings into immigration centers began over ten years ago, and with the approval of Congress. Another attempted offset of blame concern what have been dubbed “baby jails”.

Westlake Legal Group Baby-Jail Democrats in Florida Stand Outside the Homestead Immigrant Facility and Lie About What is Inside Politics immigration immigraant children Front Page Stories Front Page Florida Featured Story Featured Post Elizabeth Warren democrats Democrat Debates Campaigns Border Wall Funding border security Allow Media Exception 2020

It has been asserted that Trump has created buildings to house immigrant infants and toddlers. There have even been media reporting that the administration used the term “tender age facilities” to cloak what are these supposed jails for babies. Except, there are the recorded requests from the Health and Human Services Department requisitioning the construction — from 2010. They even employed the term “tender age” in the wording of the request.

These are details that the media is largely disinterested in correcting. The story of the government caring for children who arrive here without familial support is just not as good copy as a media-starved politician from the Bronx pretending to be wailing outside of a “concentration camp”. It is left to us to correct the record, it seems.

In Convoluted Ruling, SCOTUS Blocks Citizenship Question on Census

Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross appears before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform to discuss preparing for the 2020 Census, on Capitol Hill in Washington, Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017. The Trump administration acknowledged on Thursday that billions more dollars are “urgently needed” to ensure a fair and accurate count during the 2020 Census. (AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite)

Two big decisions were handed down this morning. One of them entailed whether the administration could add the citizenship question back to the census, where it had resided for some 175 years.

SCOTUS decided not.

This is very complicated and I’m not going to try to describe in detail every aspect of the decision. There were multiple parts to this and multiple votes on those parts. The short of it is that SCOTUS ruled that the question itself is constitutional and does not violate the Census Act, but they also ruled that the Commerce Department did not give a sufficient explanation during judicial review, therefore, they can’t use the question.

The partial dissent pointed out the obvious problem with ruling something constitutional and then arbitrarily deciding it can’t be done anyway.

Justice Alito also hit back.

While theoretically, Commerce could just come up with a more fleshed out explanation and probably win the case, the timing of all this makes it unlikely. Printing has to start this month and it’s unlikely a lower court would rush a decision.

As best as I can tell, John Roberts was a defector once again.

Presidential candidate Julian Castro speaks at the Democratic debate – 6/26/19. Screen grab via MSNBC.

When it comes to so-called “abortion rights”, Democratic presidential candidate Julián Castro believes no one should be excluded from the right to choose – including men who identify as women.

At last night’s Democratic debate, Castro was asked about his position on abortion rights and if his healthcare plan would cover abortion costs. Here’s what the former housing secretary had to say:

“I don’t believe only in reproductive freedom, I believe in reproductive justice. And, you know, what that means is just because a woman, or let’s also not forget someone in the trans community, a trans female, is poor doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have the right to exercise that right to choose.”

Watch Castro’s remarks below:

There’s just one slight problem with this answer: Men cannot get pregnant.

Twitter users noticed, and responded:

Greg at Twitchy documented many more reactions here.

Castro was clearly proud of his answer, as he tweeted out video of it later in the evening:

It’s quite possible Castro was referring to transgender MEN, as they are women who identify as men and can still have a baby, depending on where they are in the transition process.

But that’s not what he said so, you know, we have lots of questions on this matter.

Bill de Blasio Gets Absolutely Raked By New York City Police Officers After Debate

Westlake Legal Group de-blasio-presser-620x352 Bill de Blasio Gets Absolutely Raked By New York City Police Officers After Debate Talking Points Raked Politics Policing police NYPD NYC PBA New York mayor Inter-sectionaism Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story democrats democrat debate Bill de Blasio 2020 election

Bill de Blasio has no business running for President but he’s going to try anyway and last night’s performance at the debate was awkward to say the least. He spent most of the night yelling and trying to interrupt everyone, including the moderators who quickly cut to commercial at one point after one of his outbursts.

On substance, de Blasio wasn’t any better. He gave some answers in a discussion about guns that didn’t sit well with New York Police Officers.

That’s the NYC Police Benevolence Association, which represents over 50,000 current and former officers. They help advocate and take care of the needs of those serving in the nation’s largest city.

De Blasio’s answers were typical fare from him. He basically blamed police for everything, hence the “we need to have a conversation about policing” nonsense. He made claims that simply aren’t true about New York’s crime rates. He tried to claim that he “runs the largest police force in the country.” While that may be true technically in a hierarchical sense, he doesn’t actually “run” anything. He lords over them to the point where most of the NYPD hate his guts.

The only way to combat crime is more policing, not this feel good rhetoric about building relationships. We saw that in the 90’s when increased policing led to the greatest drop in violent crime in modern history, of which we are still seeing the benefits of today. But because inter-sectionalism has overtaken everything on the left, common sense no longer applies. The less policing in these poor neighborhoods, the higher crime rates go and the more minority individuals are harmed or killed. Yet, it’s seen as compassionate and woke to just blame police.

De Blasio is a joke at this point. He knows it and everyone else knows it. The only thing more ironic than him running for President is that he’d no doubt get re-elected if the law allowed him to run for Mayor of New York again.

Bank of America Gets Woke, Nonsensically Injects Itself Into Border Debate

Westlake Legal Group MigrantFamilyBorder-620x317 Bank of America Gets Woke, Nonsensically Injects Itself Into Border Debate woke prison Politics Nonsensical migrant children Illegal Immigration Get Woke Go Broke Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story dumb Detention Facilities bank of america

Migrant families cross the Rio Grande to get illegally across the border into the United States, to turn themselves in to authorities and ask for asylum, next to the Paso del Norte international bridge, near El Paso, Texas, Friday, May 31, 2019. The Border Patrol said it has encountered more than 180 groups of over 100 people since October, compared with 13 in the previous 12-month period and two the year before. (AP Photo/Christian Torrez)

Bank of America has decided that the best way to help minors who are detained at the border is to…not lend to facilities that need the money to improve conditions where those children are housed? Makes sense.

The Twitter account sharing the story is Sleep Giants, which is a leftist astroturf project that tries to pressure private companies into bowing before their political will. They’ve literally got hundreds of people who just call up random companies they’d otherwise never patronize and pretend to be very upset customers.

Unfortunately, the tact works and it’s leading to a complete division within our society. Here’s some of the write up at Bloomberg.

“We have decided to exit the relationship’’ with companies that provide prison and immigration-detention services, Vice Chairman Anne Finucane said Wednesday in an interview. “We’ve done our due diligence that we said we would do at the annual meeting, and this is the decision we’ve made.”

The move followed a review by the bank’s environmental, social and governance, or ESG, committee, which included site visits and consultation with clients, civil rights leaders, criminal justice experts and academics. The Charlotte, North Carolina-based lender also met with its internal Hispanic and black leaders.

This is incredibly stupid for a lot of reasons, not the least of which being that not lending to those who manage detention faclities doesn’t actually change the laws on detention. That means this will lead to worse conditions, not better. It’s akin to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez calling for Wayfair to boycott selling beds to HHS. How does making it worse for the kids who have to be legally detained (you can’t just release minors onto the street) help them?

Even in the case of adult prisons, those people aren’t going to just be let out of jail now. A lack of capital only hurts the prisoners more.

But common sense never need apply when it comes to leftism and the emotional tripe that it traffics in.

By most accounts, former Texas Congressman Beto O’Rourke was the loser of last night’s Democratic primary debate. However, he did provide us with one hilarious moment.

O’Rourke was asked by NBC’s Savannah Guthrie if he would support an individual tax rate of 70% on earners making more than $10 million a year. He uttered a few platitudes and then…began speaking in Spanish. The quizzical look on New Jersey Sen. Corey Booker’s face was priceless!

It was a combination of disbelief and amusement. If Booker hadn’t been on national television, he would have rolled his eyes and said “FFS.”

It’s possible that Booker’s humorous expression was due to the fact that he is also fluent in the language and had planned to answer a question in Spanish later in the debate – which he eventually did.

Elizabeth Warren looked on expressionless. Maybe she was wishing she could speak fluent Cherokee.

The Daily Show’s Trevor Noah had the best response by far. Noah tweeted: “When Dad says “Hola, como estas?” to the waiter at the Mexican restaurant @DemDebate

Here are some other reactions from Twitter:

Gif showing comedian Seth Meyers: “Is this motherf**cker for real right now?”

“Think people reading too much into Booker’s expressions. He always looks like that!”

“Next thing will be Elizabeth Warren sending smoke signals.”

“In What country is Beto O’Rourke making a run for office?”

“I’m sorry, if they want to ask & answer the questions in Spanish. BROADCAST THE DEBATE ON TELEMUNDO!!!!”

“Ohh the memes that will come out from this”

“The moment when the other Democratic candidates realized that the threat is real.”

“Booker was salty when Beto beat him with the Spanish bit.”

Beto never did answer Guthrie’s question. He refused to be pinned down to a 70% tax rate, even on the wealthy.

Debating Democrats Were Silent On Trump, Vocal About McConnell

Westlake Legal Group mcconnell-trump-620x268 Debating Democrats Were Silent On Trump, Vocal About McConnell Uncategorized tulsi gabbard Mitch McConnell Front Page Stories Featured Story Elizabeth Warren Election donald trump democrats Democratic Debate Corey Booker 2020

One of the more interesting questions during last night’s debate between ten Democratic presidential hopefuls was a question not about Trump, but about Mitch McConnell.

Several of the candidates were asked how they would deal in a scenario where they had the White House and Republicans still held the Senate. One by one, they all – very poorly – managed to dodge the question. Even Elizabeth Warren, who answered “Oh yes” when asked if she had a plan for dealing with McConnell, didn’t explain how she would deal with him. She just sputtered on and on about making sure the “will of the people” was recognized, as though the will of the people isn’t in play if they decide on keeping the Senate Republican.

The direct mention of McConnell did prove to pique the interest of the American public, it seems.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump – the man all these Democrats are trying to take on in 2020 – barely got a mention. There was a bit here and there, including a memorable moment when Jay Inslee called him the biggest geopolitical threat to the United States, but overall Trump was a nonentity in this debate.

That might be why he made this comment on Twitter.

The reference to McConnell and the lack of reference to Trump means a few things. First, they are once again all but giving up on trying to win back the Senate. I think they are writing it off for this cycle, based on the question and their response to it. McConnell and the Republican Senate are here to stay until at least 2022, and they will work the best they can with that (or just refuse to work with it, which is actually the more likely case).

The second thing this tells us is that they are struggling to come up with an identity for themselves as candidates. They purposefully avoided mentioning him when it was so easy to throw his name in there and get the audience reaction they needed. Instead, they focused on policies and emotions entirely unrelated to him. In fact, it’s one of the reasons I think Julian Castro won the night – he tied his passion directly into Trump’s policies and how deeply they affected him on an emotional level. It worked.

But the other candidates didn’t do that, or at least they didn’t try. Yeah, during their closing statements, they talked about beating him and how they’d do better (and even then the references to Trump were weak). But they avoided the guy because they recognize they can’t just be the anti-Trump candidate. They have to actually be for something.

And yet, they struggled with that. Elizabeth Warren was a non-confrontational series of pre-recorded talking points. Corey Booker relied on his identity as a black man. Tulsi Gabbard tried to tie together her progressive views with her military background. Inslee relied on the specter of climate change. So on and so forth they went, relying on weak gimmicks to prop up their identity as candidates. That’s partially why many of last night’s candidates took to attacking each other. They were avoiding taking on Trump and tried to assert their dominance as a fighter without breaking character. It just didn’t work.

Tonight’s debate should prove to be different. There are strong identities there, and a lack of fear of taking on Trump directly. As a result, you’ll see that confrontation with the idea of Trump more than you’ll see confrontation with each other.

The last thing this means is that the Democrats are trying to run on ideas, but have no idea how to address those ideas. They are all-in for abortion, but even Warren straight-up refused to answer a question on how she’d deal with guns already sold to owners. You could tell she wanted to talk about confiscation/”buying back” of guns, but couldn’t. They were all in for open borders, but they couldn’t even agree on the U.S. involvement in the Middle East.

They don’t know what direction to go in, so they want to go in all the directions at once. It was confusing messaging, and I don’t think it’s translating well into the general public.

The Winners And Losers Of The First Democratic Debate

Westlake Legal Group n-ELIZABETH-WARREN-large570-620x259 The Winners And Losers Of The First Democratic Debate Uncategorized tulsi gabbard tim ryan john delaney Jay Inslee Front Page Stories Featured Story Elizabeth Warren democrats Democratic Debate Corey Booker Bill de Blasio Beto O'Rourke Amy Klobuchar 2020

The first debate (part one) is over. Two hours of tedious remarks, pandering, and Bill de Blasio shouting have come and gone.

Our first official glimpse of the Democratic primary field in action had some expected points but way more surprises than I’d anticipated – particularly from the unknowns in the field. As I mentioned earlier this evening, it was Elizabeth Warren’s and Corey Booker’s debate to lose, and I am not entirely sure they didn’t. We also had to suffer through technical issues – signal loss and hot mics from people not on stage – and interruptions in the form of candidates who didn’t get much time to say anything wanting more time to say things.

First, we need to establish a couple of rules in deciding who the winners and losers are. Obviously, those who did the best in terms of arguing are near the top. But another determining factor is how they came across. The final factor, although a minuscule one, is the strength of their ideas. Granted, as a conservative site, RedState does not officially endorse the ideas of the Democratic Party. However, the strength of these ideas can come in the form of presentation and passion – more rhetorical strength than actual policy strength.

With all that said, here are the winners and losers of the first debate (part one).

The Winners: Julian Castro, Tulsi Gabbard, Elizabeth Warren

Far and away, the best, most spirited, and the most surprising performance of the night came from Julian Castro. He played to his strengths – Latin American interests and the immigration crisis – very well and it worked more effectively than perhaps it should have, but with the crisis at the border being in the spotlight all week, it was only natural that he would have a great night.

More than that, though, Castro was deeply passionate on any subject he spoke about, and he was not afraid to beat up the other candidates in an effort to prove his passion was the best passion.

Tulsi Gabbard, I think, had a better night than she’ll be given credit for – particularly in her use of past military experience, her time spent in the Middle East serving our country, and the way she beat Tim Ryan like a rented mule over his comments on the Middle East. Her strength is obviously going to be in foreign policy as it pertains to the Middle East, the single-most troublesome region America has to deal with. By combining her military experience with her progressive ideology, she did very well in proving her worth on that stage.

Interestingly, I think Elizabeth Warren managed to keep a top spot, but that wasn’t for lack of trying. Or, rather, it was despite her lack of trying. While other candidates argued and interrupted each other, she was quiet and said virtually nothing during the segment on immigration and the border crisis. She pretty obviously seems to think that keeping the powder dry for Trump is the way to go, but it made her forgettable amidst the chaos.

That’s not the route to the presidency she thinks it is. She is sharing the stage not only with nine other candidates but competing against another ten who will be on stage twenty four hours later and have an opportunity to outshine her.

If I had to pick a winner out of those three, I’d pick Julian Castro.

The Losers: Beto O’Rourke, Bill de Blasio, Tim Ryan

The biggest loser of the night has got to be Beto O’Rourke. Bill de Blasio, Julian Castro, Corey Booker, and probably one or two others went after O’Rourke hard and frequently. He’s seen as the one of the biggest middle-tier threats (if not THE biggest), and for many guys on the middle and bottom tiers, he has to be removed from the board.

O’Rourke also didn’t help himself by going right into Spanish with no warning, introduction, or explanation in his first question of the night. Likewise, he simply could not defend himself on all the fronts he needed to in order to survive the attacks he was getting. He tried to play it off, but if anything was a surprise last night, it was that he wasn’t sweating profusely after the first barrage from the other candidates.

Bill de Blasio knew he was a loser from the get-go and did everything in his power to appear strong where he was weak. He constantly interrupted the other candidates, and even tried to interrupt a moderator, who then cut to commercial (I was very happy to see that capitalism would silence de Blasio in ways that no other Republican or Democrat has been able to). He came off as annoying, or as Claire McCaskill put it during NBC’s post-show “irritating.” You could tell he was pissed about not getting a lot of air time.

However, I will say that his strength – if he has any – was being able to look into the camera. He was addressing the viewing audience, not the moderators, the people on the stage, or the people in that crowd. He was addressing “working class people” across America. He might have resonated with a few, but not enough to climb out of the hole he kept digging himself.

Tim Ryan, who I could not identify the first three times he was asked to give a response, also lost big when he tried to take on Gabbard over Middle Eastern conflicts. Particularly by foolishly saying that the Taliban committed the acts of terror on September 11, which Gabbard schooled him over. Other than that, his performance was lackluster, filled with borrowed words and phrases from other candidates, and cobbled together to sound more coherent than he actually was.

The Also-Rans: John Delaney, Corey Booker, Amy Klobuchar, Jay Inslee

I’ll keep this bit short.

John Delaney, of all the candidates, displayed the best knowledge of what I think Americans are looking for most: Moderate tendencies and a desire to bridge the gap between the parties. He also seemed most likely to understand the difference between platform policy and real-world solutions. This, of course, means he doesn’t stand a chance.

Corey Booker needed to shine and didn’t. He spoke passionately enough but did not differentiate himself from the other candidates in any meaningful way. In fact, he was very obviously trying to pander when he busted out his own response to some question in Spanish. It was forced, felt unnatural, and really only served to shine a light on the hardest working member of his staff, the Rosetta Stone software for speaking Spanish.

Amy Klobuchar had one moment I really thought went underappreciated. She commented on the “Establishment Candidate,” an obvious (to me) reference to Elizabeth Warren. It was slipped in there once and flew completely below the radar, but the message seemed clear: “I know they are paving the way for you, Liz, and I won’t stand for it.” Now, will she actually not stand for it? Probably not.

Last, we have Jay Inslee, who very clearly doesn’t understand how much of a joke he is given the goofy-and-almost-creepy grin he got when Rachel Maddow told him the next question – one on climate change – was right up his alley. See, Inslee sees climate change in the same way your child sees the bogeyman. It’s everywhere and causes all the problems. If I were to produce a document saying climate change is how we got Trump, Inslee would probably hire me on the spot.

The Conclusion

The fact of the matter is that this was just one in a two-part debate, with ten more candidates appearing on stage Thursday night. Many of these performances will be forgotten, especially with figures like Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders, and Joe Biden on stage this evening. Still, the stronger performances tonight may yet shine through. Time will tell.

Why Silicon Valley Tech Giants May Truly Believe They’re Not Being Biased When They Clearly Are

We know that Silicon Valley is filthy with politically biased people who’ve been brought to radical forms of their leftist ideological positions thanks to a well-maintained bubble. Any position, thought, or fact-based reasoning that runs against the hard left hive mind is immediately punished and/or cast out.

You can ask James Damore about that.

Major companies like Google, Twitter, and Facebook have been demonstrating their bias left and right. To anyone paying attention, it’s not a mystery that if you lean to the right, or have a right-leaning opinion on a specific subject if you say it loud enough you might find yourself on the business end of Silicon Valley’s ire.

Live Action simply expressed pro-life views and Pinterest labeled them as “porn” so that they wouldn’t show up in feeds. It was unearthed recently that Google employees were trying to find ways to restrict sitings of figures like Dennis Prager and Ben Shapiro because they were Nazis guiding others on the path to Nazism, both of whom, mind you, are orthodox Jews.

To be sure, these are radical positions and radical actions to take on Silicon Valley’s part, but the frightening thing is that I’m not entirely sure they understand that. In fact, based on what I’ve seen and heard from them, they truly believe that their positions aren’t at all extreme and that their actions do reflect neutral stances.

In fact, YouTube just released a tweet essentially claiming that they are politically neutral right after James O’Keefe exposed Google for taking ideological stances within their business.

The ratio they are currently receiving for this tweet is nothing short of brutal.

We see this attitude being struck by industry heads and employees constantly, even in front of Congress where they deny taking any stances when it comes to how they conduct business, despite the deluge of evidence that they are.

You’re probably stunned that they could lie this blatantly to the people, and are feeling pretty insulted that they think you’re that stupid. Maybe some of them truly do think that, but I have to wonder if they actually don’t understand the extreme positions they have found themselves in ideologically.

I’m perfectly willing to believe this may be the case due to an interview I watched on the Joe Rogan Experience, where Tim Pool and Joe Rogan are essentially confronting Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Twitter “Trust and Safety” Lead Vijaya Gadde.

I can’t give you a specific quote within this back and forth because this is a 20-minute debate where every sentence said holds weight, but the summary is that despite Rogan and Pool trying to show Gadde how the rules they’ve created — this conversation specifically revolves around Twitter’s rules around interactions with transgendered people — were ideologically bent, neither Gadde or Dorsey seemed to be able to wrap their heads around their own bias.

As far as Gadde was concerned, they truly were doing the right thing by silencing and punishing people for taking a position that is ideologically different from the left’s.

I advise you to take a moment to watch this exchange, as it’s incredibly eye-opening.

Again, I don’t want to make this interaction a blanket statement on all of Silicon Valley’s movers and shakers. I think, however, it is a solid look at the lens through which they view the world.

For instance, Gadde can be ridiculed for a lot of things that she said during her interaction with Pool and Rogan, but there were times when it looked like she was being introduced to a completely foreign concept that she couldn’t quite wrap her head around in the moment.

We should consider the idea that the ideological bubble in which these tech giants live is so thick that they don’t understand or even see what’s right in front of their faces.

Their false sense of morality, fostered by their immediate peers and social structure, is a result of truly not knowing any better due to the fact that any other kind of ideological standpoint is being diligently kept out. It’s kept out because the culture demands to look at ideological stances outside of the body politic as something dangerous. This fuels a perpetual cycle and creates something akin to self-induced brainwashing.

This theory would explain why YouTube can make statements that are blatantly false with all seriousness.

I could be wrong and the people silencing, deplatforming, and punishing others for their viewpoints are truly that horrible. They may be that childish and married to their ignorance purely out of spite for those who tell them they’re wrong. However, based on what I’ve seen and heard, I’m not 100 percent certain of that.
