Stop the Madness: Joy Reid Panel Explains How Dems Can Make Pelosi President

Democrats have been desperate to get rid of President Donald Trump ever since he was elected.

First they tried getting him through the Mueller investigation, now they’re trying the Ukraine call.

But the problem they face in any event is that even if they were somehow able to impeach and convict Trump, they still would be left with Pence, who they also hate. And they still wouldn’t get the control they so deeply crave.

So as we noted yesterday, Democrats seem to be trying to construct an impeachment case against Pence as well, even thought that’s even sillier and more implausible a road to success than that against Trump.

They don’t seem to understand that you can’t impeach someone just because you don’t like him and want power.

But if you wonder how much Democrats are descending into madness, this “AM Joy” panel that Twitchy caught is the perfect example.

All of these adult people and yet nothing they say is based in reality or sense.

You ready? Here goes:

“You could impeach Pence first. The problem is that Donald Trump then has to name his replacement. But I think that maybe a deal could be struck where he was told, if you don’t make a replacement, then Nancy Pelosi does become president.”

Please, folks, Constitution and sanity. That’s not happening, so why even say it? Of course, that woman was preceded by another woman who was equally unhinged talking about how Pence was so “deeply” involved in the corruption he had to go. What?

They are completely out in conspiracy land. Of course, most of these folks were pushing the Russia collusion hoax as a fact, despite it not being true. And Joy Reid has her own issues, given the person who hacked her blog and put all those bigoted things there that she herself certainly didn’t say. Reid told us that she had called the FBI, how’s that case going?

But yes, every time you think that they can’t hit a bottom, they keep going lower. Train off the rails crazy.

Please people, you lost. Get over it. Get a grip.

If all you’re going to do going into 2020 is push impeachment and you include Mike Pence too, prepare to lose again.

There Are Now Multiple “Whistleblowers” Willing to Talk About the Ukraine Phone Call Because More Makes It Illegal or Something

If you were alive and sober during the Brett Kavanaugh hearing, you could already predict how the Ukraine story was going to play out. We start with one “whistleblower.” Early today, George Stephanopoulos broke the story that there was a second “whistleblower.”

Zaid tells ABC News’ Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos that the second person — also described as an intelligence official — has first-hand knowledge of some of the allegations outlined in the original complaint and has been interviewed by the head of the intelligence community’s internal watchdog office, Michael Atkinson.

The existence of a second whistleblower — particularly one who can speak directly about events involving the president related to conversations involving Ukraine — could undercut Trump’s repeated insistence that the original complaint, released on Sept. 26, was “totally inaccurate.”

And now Zaid’s partner, Andrew Bakaj, says there are multiple “whistleblowers.”

BZZZZZT.

From what we’ve seen so far, from the transcript, from the testimony of a participant, Kurt Volker, and from the “whistleblower complaint” the basic allegation is that there is a law that says Democrats cannot be investigated for corruption and President Trump violated that law. People, like Mitt Romney, might not like it but demanding action of foreign nations is done all the time. The fact that it is Joe Biden’s coke addled whelp at the center of this is immaterial. Quite honestly, it really doesn’t matter how many “whistleblowers” climb forth out of Adam Schiff’s rectum, more people testifying on the same event does not make that event wrong or criminal.

All you can say is that President Trump was dead on the money on this one:

Greta Thunberg in Iowa Speech: ‘World leaders keep acting like children, somebody needs to be the adult in the room’.

Since her arrival to the U.S. in August, Greta Thunberg has taken the American left by storm. Perhaps it’s because of the constant sour look upon her face which resembles the Grinch before his heart grew, or what I consider to be the undeserved glory she receives, I’ve developed an aversion to all things Greta Thunberg.

A recent headline in The Daily Mail tells us that Thunberg is “tipped to win” the Nobel Peace Prize next week. I’ve wondered what this 16-year-old girl, who has quickly become the face of climate change worldwide, has accomplished that might qualify her for such an honor.

On Friday, Thunberg made headlines for a speech she delivered at the Iowa City Climate Strikers. She drove there in a Tesla. That’s about as virtuous as her trip across the ocean in a £15 million sailing yacht.

After being introduced, Thunberg appeared humbled by the turnout of young, like-minded students who gathered on short notice to attend her speech, which surprised me. I hadn’t thought her capable of humility. “Wow. It’s just so many people I don’t think any of us expected this many people. This is real hope, so many people gathering on a weekday at such short notice. This is real hope to me.”

Then, as if a switch was flipped, she turned into the Greta we’ve come to know. She told the crowd, “And we realize we are on indigenous Iowa land, the land of Sioux and Meskwaki.” I guess she thinks that’s our fault.

She continued:

We told world leaders to act on the science and we demanded a safe future for us and for everyone. But they didn’t listen. As we all know, the human climate action summit was a faliure. That was, unfortunately, what we had expected. To stand behind and speak the science is still too uncomfortable for them. That needs to change.

We teenagers and children shouldn’t have to take the responsibility, but right now the world leaders keep acting like children and somebody needs to be the adult in the room.

We promise we will go on every Friday for as long as it takes and the next Global Climate Strike is on November 29. But of course, we strike every week. And we have to prepare ourselves to go on for a very long time. For years. But that will not stop us. We have reached a tipping point where enough people have had enough. Together we are unstoppable.

And we will not beg world leaders to care and to act. They have ignored us in the past and they will ignore us again. We will instead tell them that if they won’t do it, then we will.

Because the world is waking up and we are the change and change is coming whether they like it or not.

This generation believes all they need to do is demand something and they will receive it.

Action to Thunberg and her followers is holding a strike or delivering a speech. She reminds the crowd of the date of the next Global Climate Strike and tells them, “of course, we strike every week.”

They can strike all they’d like, but striking is not action. Action is organizing a team of 200 volunteers and spending the day cleaning up a filthy homeless camp in Los Angeles as activist Scott Presler did last month. He and his group donned hazmat suits and removed over 50 tons of garbage. Prior to that, they spent a weekend cleaning up a sliver of Baltimore. And he has a second clean up scheduled this month in Baltimore. Presler knows that participating in a strike every Friday for the rest of his life won’t clean up American cities. That’s how it’s done Greta.

Action is not standing on a stage and being applauded for talking the talk. Real action involves rolling up your sleeves and walking the walk like Presler.

After listening to her remarks in Iowa and at several other venues, I realize my first impression of this young woman was correct. She is disrespectful, disdainful and ungrateful. Why so many Americans have become so captivated by this hypocrite baffles me.

In her closing remarks, Thunberg channeled a speech delivered by then-candidate Barack Obama. She tells the crowd, “we are the change.” On the campaign trail, Obama told his supporters, “We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”

And the two share another distinction. They were both nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize based on their speeches alone. The deadline to submit nominations for the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize was February 1, 2009. Obama took office on January 20, 2009. As we all know, he won the award.

Recently, Sky News Australia’s Alan Jones delivered a scathing monolog in which he referred to Thunberg and her supporters as “selfish, badly educated, virtue-signaling little turds.” He concluded by telling them to “wake up, grow up and shut up until you’re sure of the facts before protesting.”

My colleague, Brandon Morse, wrote a post which has since gone viral about Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson’s response to Thunberg’s speech at the United Nations. It’s very amusing. If you haven’t read it, here is the link.

Here’s an idea, Greta. Go home. Go back to school and learn something about how to combat climate change. Then you can take real action to make it happen.

Watch the video.

Full transcript of Thunberg’s speech (via Iowa City Press-Citizen):

I’m incredibly proud and honored to be here in Iowa City and in beautiful Iowa with all of you — and it’s just so many people. I don’t think any one of us expected this many people.

Special thank you to the organizers and the strikers who have been striking Friday after Friday not giving up: Shoshie (Hemley), Esti (Brady), Yardley (Whaylen), Diego (Biggers), Alex (Howe), Massimo (Biggers) and everyone else. Thank you. I think every one of us owe you a great–we owe you so much. You have really done so much for everyone of us. And we realize we are on indigenous Iowa land, the land of Sioux and Meskwaki. We thank Dawson Davenport and all the Meskwaki people here with us today.

This is the real hope. So many people gathering here on a weekday with such a short notice.

This is real hope to me. Last week and the week before that well over 7 million people joined the climate strikes. Over 7 million people in more than 180 countries. That is not something you can continue to ignore. We told world leaders to act on the science and we demanded a safe future for us and for everyone. But they didn’t listen. As we all know the human climate action summit was a faliure. That was unfortunately what we had expected. To stand behind and speak the science is still too uncomfortable for them. That needs to change.

No matter what, we need to continue. No matter how hopeless this situation may seem like, we must always carry on. We must never allow ourselves to give up. That is simply not an option.

Thank you once again and have a great day. Continue and never give up.

Elizabeth Warren 2007 Calls Out Elizabeth Warren 2019: Is Warren Telling Another Story That Doesn’t Add Up?

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) likes to tell stories about her life.

We all were treated to the stories about her Native American heritage that then became such a boondoggle for her after DNA tests proved she wasn’t much more Native American than the average white American. People then trolled her with the hashtag “1/1024,” the number the test indicated that could possibly be how much Native American ancestry she has.

Now, apparently another one of her stories about her past is taking a hit. And the hit is coming from Elizabeth Warren herself.

The Democratic presidential candidate has a story that she regularly tells now about how she was let go for being “visibly pregnant” when she taught as a special needs teacher.

According to Tommy Christopher at Mediaite, Elizabeth Warren told the story again this week.

“By the end of the first year, I was quite visibly pregnant and the principal didn’t invite me back for the next school year, ” she says on the video at Mediaite. “So I found myself at home with a baby. Yup, those were the days,” seemingly referencing discrimination against pregnant women in careers at the time.

Except Elizabeth Warren 2007 appears to tell a different tale than does Elizabeth Warren 2019, says Christopher and doesn’t mention any discrimination because she was pregnant but indicated the reason she didn’t continue was because she didn’t have the education courses needed. Mediaite has that video as well.

But in a March 8, 2007 interview with Harvard Law Professor Leo Gottlieb, Warren made it clear that such discrimination had nothing to do with the loss of that teaching job.

Warren told Gottlieb how she had earned a full scholarship to George Washington University at 16, and graduated with a degree in speech pathology and audiology, and didn’t mention the commuter college that has become another pillar in her bio. She then explained that she left her public school job after one school year because she lacked the educational credentials to qualify for a permanent position, and that she decided on her own to abandon the calling.

I was married at nineteen and graduated from college after I’d married, and my first year post-graduation I worked in a public school system with the children with disabilities. I did that for a year, and then that summer I didn’t have the education courses, so I was on an “emergency certificate,” it was called. I went back to graduate school and took a couple of courses in education and said, “I don’t think this is going to work out for me.”

So will anyone in MSM be asking Warren about this apparent discrepancy in her stories?

Death Threat: ISIS Arrests Have Surged in the U.S.

Westlake Legal Group isis-group-with-flag-620x310 Death Threat: ISIS Arrests Have Surged in the U.S. Uncategorized Front Page Stories Featured Story

In this June 16, 2014 photo, demonstrators chant pro-Islamic State group slogans as they carry the group’s flags in front of the provincial government headquarters in Mosul, 225 miles (360 kilometers) northwest of Baghdad. Flush with cash the the Islamic State fix roads, police traffic, administer courts, and have even set up an export system of smuggled crude from oil fields they control. (AP Photo, File)

Whoa.

Not good news: Domestic terror arrests are on the rise.

According to a report by George Washington University’s Program of Extremis (POE), since September 3rd, police departments and the FBI have taken into custody 24 people for ISIS-related offenses.

What’s more, in the first eight months of the year, such arrests doubled those comprising the entirety of 2018.

Researcher Andrew Mines explained to The Washington Free Beacon that one possible explanation for the increase is a migration of the organization from its previous focus on Iraq and Syria (hence its name). Presently, ISIS is widening its wings:

“ISIS’s messaging received a revamp with the end of the physical caliphate. They were taking a lot of hard hits throughout 2018 but with this kind of steady decline and now this resurgence through different affiliates through the globe, the messaging now is both remaining but also expanding, spreading throughout the globe.”

In 2019, the terrorist group suffered at the hands of a U.S.-led coalition. Home bases in Syria and Iraq were destroyed, and President Trump declared victory.

However, the collective has launhed attacks in Russia, Sri Lanka, and the Philippines.

In 2018, a White House paper noted the killer cabal’s resiliency:

Despite many setbacks, ISIS maintains a sophisticated and durable media and online presence that allows it to encourage and enable sympathizers worldwide to conduct dozens of attacks within target countries, including the United States. The increase in attacks by persons mobilized to violence in the United States underscores the ability of ISIS to inspire terrorist attacks.

Due to the U.S.’s success in the Middle East combating the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, Andrew suggested we could be looking at more carnage in our states:

“When that [ISIS] territory is shrinking and the international community is closing down the gateways and becoming a lot more savvy with how individuals are able to use different travel routes and entry points into countries [with ISIS presence,]…the messaging from the top is going to be that domestic attacks are a more viable option.”

So what kind of threat are we facing? As an example of the arrests this year, a green-card-carrying Bangladeshi planned to arm himself with a Glock and suicide vest and “die fighting like a man” in an attack on Times Square.

Additionally, U.S. Army infantryman Mark Domingo plotted to make murderous mayhem at a rally in Long Beach, California using an IED (see my coverage of that story here).

Perhaps mercifully, the uptick in sinister intent is spiced with the involvement of smaller-time — and, hopefully, easier to stop — amateurs, as observed by James Caragano, a national security expert for the Heritage Foundation:

“We’re not seeing anything like 9/11-style planning, which would be a real red flag. We’re not seeing sleeper cells or guys being shipped over here to organize activities.”

But growth isn’t exclusive to the U.S. — since Trump pulled troops from the region, the Defense Department indicates ISIS is slowly swelling in the Middle East, as well.

So what’s the future of terrorism? Whtever it may be, Jams Caragano says it’s a must to take partisanship out of the fight:

“You see this huge movement on the Left that wants to say ‘oh we are seeing much more domestic terrorist attacks from white supremacists.’ Part of the reason we are seeing that is we are very good at targeting transnational threats. We have to keep doing that, not take the focus off that important national security threat.”

Trump Hits Back At Mitt Romney and Pearls Are Clutched

FILE – In this Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012 file photo, Donald Trump greets Republican presidential candidate, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, after announcing his endorsement of Romney during a news conference in Las Vegas. Trump is endorsing Romney in Utah’s Senate race, another sign that the two Republicans are burying the hatchet after a fraught relationship. (AP Photo/Julie Jacobson, File)

If you get on GOP Twitter right now, you’ll witness a distinct division among most Republicans who simply do not like Mitt Romney and those who consistently act like it’s an affront to human decency if you criticize him.

Here’s what Romney had to say yesterday regarding Trump and Ukraine.

And here’s Trump’s response.

The rules are as follows. Romney is always allowed to go after Trump, even before all the facts are in. He can virtue signal his pants off, use words like “appalling,” and make bold proclamations with immunity. But the moment someone goes back at him, it’s automatically responses like this.

I’m seriously starting to think a certain segment of Republicans have a bot that runs in the background of their accounts and anytime Romney is criticized, a post calling him a “good man” is immediately put up.

And that’s the divide illustrated. Some are obsessed with decorum and the idea that Romney is above reproach. Other’s see him as the opportunistic, flip-flopping politician that he is. Let’s not forget that Romney was once unabashedly pro-choice and still supports Roe v. Wade. This is the guy who invented the Obamacare scheme and then opposed it when he ran for President. But he’s “good” because he generally carries himself in a way that makes Bill Kristol happy.

At some point, the Republican establishment class are going to have to accept the fact that Mitt Romney is never going to be a thing again. No matter how many times they tell themselves that Romney would have won in 2016 and Trump only won because Hillary, we aren’t going back. People simply do not like the pompous nature with which he carries himself.

Perhaps the worst part about Romney is how much of a coward he is when it comes to going after anyone but Donald Trump. That’s the easy thing to do. Bashing Trump gets you back slaps on CNN and praise from Morning Joe. There’s nothing brave about mouthing off about the President. What would be brave is Romney putting out a tweet going after Schiff for lying last week and telling Wolf Blitzer that he’s a sucker for having Schiff do it to his face. But did he do that? Of course he didn’t, just like he never put out a tweet criticizing the Obama administration’s behavior in 2016.

But if Trump does something, he’s always there to give his two cents. Most Republicans tired of this game a very long time ago. We notice when the virtue signaling only goes in one direction and it should surprise no one when we don’t respond well to it.

Robby Starbuck put a thread out expressing a common sentiment.

Anyone that thinks Romney is sincere in his one-sided, select criticism of Trump is kidding themselves. This, like everything throughout Romney’s career, is simply about politics and power. He believes he can ride this storm out and keep his hands clean, somehow regaining prominence after 2020. It’s not going to happen and voters will make sure of it.

I’ll end by pointing out the hypocrisy here as well. The same people defending Romney for attacking Trump have repeatedly cited Reagan’s “11th commandment” to assert that Trump shouldn’t  criticize other Republicans. Why doesn’t Romney have to abide by that one? I think we know the answer.

While some are clutching their pearls, I’ve not no problem with Trump hitting back at Romney. The Utah Senator is welcome to not tweet if he doesn’t want to be responded to.

NBC Throws Another Half-Baked Allegation Against President Trump

Westlake Legal Group central-intelligence-agency-620x428 NBC Throws Another Half-Baked Allegation Against President Trump whistleblower complaint Politics nbc Media ken dilanian Front Page Stories Featured Story donald trump democrats Courtney Simmons Elwood cia Allow Media Exception

Just when you thought Robert Mueller’s report had put the fabulists, con artists, and outright liars in the mainstream media out of the limelight, along comes another contrived bullsh** conspiracy theory to bring them back to center stage.

This one is from NBC’s Ken Dilanian. Back in 2014, he was revealed to basically be an unpaid asset of the CIA. During the Russia Hoax, he acquired the nickname “Fusion Ken” because it was obvious that he was Fusion GPS’s go-to guy to plan conspiracy theories. So with the close ties to the CIA and Fusion GPS it is hardly a shock that he was the lead writer on CIA’s top lawyer made ‘criminal referral’ on whistleblower’s complaint about Trump conduct.

Weeks before the whistleblower’s complaint became public, the CIA’s top lawyer made what she considered to be a criminal referral to the Justice Department about the whistleblower’s allegations that President Donald Trump abused his office in pressuring the Ukrainian president, U.S. officials familiar with the matter tell NBC News.

The move by the CIA’s general counsel, Trump appointee Courtney Simmons Elwood, meant she and other senior officials had concluded a potential crime had been committed, raising more questions about why the Justice Department later declined to open an investigation.

The phone call that Elwood considered to be a criminal referral is in addition to the referral later received as a letter from the Inspector General for the Intelligence Community regarding the whistleblower complaint.

Justice Department officials said they were unclear whether Elwood was making a criminal referral and followed up with her later to seek clarification but she remained vague.

Elwood, the CIA’s general counsel, first learned about the matter because the complainant, a CIA officer, passed his concerns about the president on to her through a colleague. On Aug. 14, she participated in a conference call with the top national security lawyer at the White House and the chief of the Justice Department’s National Security Division.

On that call, Elwood and John Eisenberg, the top legal adviser to the White House National Security Council, told the top Justice Department national security lawyer, John Demers, that the allegations merited examination by the DOJ, officials said.

According to the officials, Elwood was acting under rules that a report must occur if there is a reasonable basis to the allegations, defined as “facts and circumstances…that would cause a person of reasonable caution to believe that a crime has been, is being, or will be committed.”

A DOJ official said Attorney General William Barr was made aware of the conversation with Elwood and Eisenberg, and their concerns about the president’s behavior, in the days that followed.

The CIA general counsel either made a criminal referral or she did not. There is no universe in which she made something which she “considered to be” a criminal referral because there are actual laws and regulations that define that. The IC IG did make a referral of possible criminal conduct which involved tying campaign finance laws to the rack and stretching them until they were broad enough to cover most anything. Surely, the CIA general counsel is bright enough to know what a criminal referral looks like.

(Let me digress here for a second. The claim that asking the Ukrainian president to investigate probable felonious acts by US citizens, not matter how politically connected they are within the Democrat party, is not a crime. It is a duty. Saying that this qualifies as “something of value” for campaign finance purposes also criminalizes signing trade deals in a campaign year, or signing a treaty, or visiting a foreign capital, or basically any act a president undertakes to create positive news for his administration.)

The alleged misconduct is exactly the same act that DOJ’s Criminal Division investigated. So no matter what she “considered” to have happened, the allegation she allegedly (and keep in mind that we are dealing with Dilanian here) “considered” to have been reported was investigated.

Of course, there is a very good reason why she used a phone call rather than a written referral. She didn’t want to beclown herself. Remember this: “the complainant, a CIA officer, passed his concerns about the president on to her through a colleague.” The complaint she received was gossip delivered by a messenger. Knowing what we currently know about the complainant–he’s a liar who did not tell the IC IG that he was coordinating directly with Adam Schiff’s goons and he apparently worked in direct support of Joe Biden when he served on the NSC–he seems to have been trying to shotgun this allegation. Not only did he go the “whistleblower” route himself, but he scattered the allegations to at least the CIA General Counsel. It is a safe bet that the same meat puppet who delivered the allegations to her also delivered them to the CIA IG. We can probably bet the General Counsel at the ODNI got them, too. Also by cut out.

What is abundantly clear is that there are a non-trivial number of CIA officers who have never accepted Donald Trump’s election and who are still actively involved in sedition even after the Russia Hoax cratered. The quicker that President Trump forces a movement against these people and publicly names and shames (I say shame metaphorically because there is zero evidence these people are capable of shame) them, they are going to continue with this conspiracy to try to bring him down.

Democrats have been trying to find some reason to impeach President Donald Trump since the moment he was elected.

They thought they might have something with the Mueller investigation. That, of course, didn’t pan out.

Now, they’ve moved on to the Ukraine whistleblower story. But that’s not doing too well either.

However, not only are they trying to get Trump on that one, they’re also seem to be hoping to take down Vice President Mike Pence as well.

Among the people sent requests for information from the House investigating committees was Vice President Mike Pence.

From Fox News:

A letter sent from House Democrats to Vice President Mike Pence requesting documents as part of the impeachment inquiry was based on “fake news,” the vice president’s Chief of Staff Marc Short said Saturday.

Chairman Elijah Cummings, D-Md., Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Eliot Engel, D-N.Y., gave Pence until October 15 to produce pertinent documents.

Now is this getting more than a little silly or what?

What do they think that Pence is supposed to know?

According to Fox, the chairmen of the Committees wrote, “…public reports have raised questions about any role [Pence] may have played in conveying or reinforcing the President’s stark message to the Ukrainian President.”

No, no rational person thinks that Pence had anything to do with anything.

The only thing he’s done wrong apparently is to be the Vice President and the one standing in line between the presidency and the next in line, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). And if Democrats think they can go there, they really have had their train go off the trolley.

Short said House Democrats only wanted to focus on impeachment and that Americans were tired of it. “President Zelensky himself said he felt no pressure. From the President or the Vice President. That should have ended a lot of these inquiries at that point,” Short declared.

“And, as opposed to working on things that we could actually be working on together — like lowering drug prices or continuing to create new jobs with new trade deals — Democrats want to focus on these continued investigations,” Short lamented.

“I think this administration’s continued to deliver for the American people in rebuilding the military, in securing the border and confirming a record number of judges. And, just yesterday, more evidence of this booming economy with 3.5 percent unemployment rate,” he touted. “The economy is booming. Democrats don’t want to talk about that, and so they’ve been focused on impeachment.”

Short pointed out that there were 21 Democrats in districts Trump won in 2016. He said those folks needed to be pressed, ‘Are you actually going to help your constituents to do things that are beneficial for the American people or are you siding with Nancy Pelosi and these endless investigations?”

The White House has indicated that they will refuse to comply with requests, calling it an illegitimate inquiry because there hasn’t been a formal vote for the inquiry by the full House as has occurred in past cases with Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton. House Republicans have registered their displeasure this past week with Pelosi’s handling of the matter on that point as well as on the lack of bipartisan questioning allegedly in some of the committee hearings so far.

Democrats are likely hoping that they can then use the refusal of the White House to call that obstruction and add that as a potential charge.

Is Mitt Romney Eyeing a Primary Challenge Of President Trump

Westlake Legal Group Trump-Romney-3 Is Mitt Romney Eyeing a Primary Challenge Of President Trump utah republicans Politics Mitt Romney Front Page Stories Featured Story elections donald trump Allow Media Exception 2020 republican primary

Last week, in the aftermath of the release of the so-called whistleblower complaint alleging wadded panties in conjunction with a call between President Trump and Ukraine President Zelensky, one senator broke ranks with his colleagues and led the charge condemning President Trump. Mitt freakin Romney.

There are two parts that play into this.

We know that Bill Kristol is intelligent enough to realize that the low wattage, low energy, low appeal troika of Bill Weld, Mark Sanford, and Joe Walsh are much more of a laugh track than they are a challenge to Trump. Not only does no one know or care who Bill Weld is, his snooty, elitist New England version of the GOP took is last gasp some years ago. Mark Sanford, at one time, could have been a viable candidate but getting your butt kicked in a primary in a state where you have been governor and then not helping the GOP candidate simply underscores that fact that, at best, he’s a cynical opportunist who has been rejected by his own state. Joe Walsh probably needs some way to pay child support payments.

The second part is that Romney has made this statement:

The former GOP presidential nominee and current U.S. senator from Utah said Thursday ahead of the third Democratic debate that he does not intend to endorse anyone in 2020.

On Friday, this began circulating:

If you put the Kristol piece, the attack on Trump, and the declaration he won’t endorse in 2020 together with the rumor that Romney is touching base with his donor network you can see a possible Romney challenge to Trump in the nascent stages. I don’t consider this to be far fetched. No one thinks Romney and Trump exchange Christmas cards. Romney has never made any secret of his disdain for Trump and for Trump voters. With the Omidyar funded primary challenges looking more and more like the Three Stooges than an existential threat to Trump, it isn’t hard to see where at guy with Romney’s massive ego could convince himself that the he’s so beloved in the GOP that he’d be an instant front runner.

My theory would be that it was the Posobiec tweet rather than the Romney criticism that set off President Trump today:

Factually, most of what’s in the tweets are true, if inartfully worded. I mean, who can forget with the improbably named Candy Crowley pushed Barack Obama out of the way so she, as the debate moderator, could boatrace a hapless, befuddled Mitt Romney.

And the Vichy-cons are bewildered:

In 2012, I opposed him in the primary and focused on attacking Obama in the general because I was (an am) convinced that he’d leave the national GOP in the same shambles that he left the MA GOP. As John Nolte wrote at Bradbard (and this is the first time I’ve ever quoted him) says: “When he does run for president again, the same media that relentlessly tarred him as a sexist, racist, plutocrat, job-killing corporate raider who tortures dogs, bullies gays, and gives women cancer, will appreciate him this time.”

No. We’ve had our fill of Romney. I’ve never believed that he believed in anything much more substantial than his own self-aggrandizement. His actions over the past week only make that belief much more firm.

Trump Trolls Hillary on Infamous Magazine Cover at Young Black Leadership Summit

President Donald Trump hosted folks over the weekend at the Young Black Leadership Summit at the White House.

The conference, organized by Turning Point USA, is an annual event for the Trump administration.

Many people lined up excitedly to get into the White House.

Once there, President Donald Trump invigorated the crowd when he came out to speak, sparking lots of cheers and chant of “USA, USA.”

You can see more of the event here.

Here’s the full speech, released by the White House.

Trump spoke on how we are all connected “in the sacred bonds of love and loyalty that unite all Americans” and how the young leaders visiting at the White House were standing up for America, speaking up for the values and principles that make us great.

He also praised them for standing up against censorship and control, saying, “You stand right up to those forces in our country that demand conformity and control. You refuse to be censored, you refuse to be silenced, and you will never back down.”

“Don’t ever back down,” he encouraged the young leaders.

While there were a lot of policy discussions and serious talk at the event, there also were fun moments.

There was this moment when one of the participants – who tweets indicate is Mike Luso, CEO and cofounder of Scriberr News – asked the president to sign the infamous erroneous Newsweek magazine cover that declared Hillary Clinton “Madam President.” Trump, ever the one to have sense of humor, signed it right on Hillary’s face.

But then it got even better.

Nicely done, folks!

Newsweek was anticipating, based on the polls, that Hillary Clinton would be the winner. But of course she was defeated because Trump was able to reach out to folks with a positive message that Clinton did not have.

It’s likely they’re going to be caught off-guard again in 2020, if the enthusiasm of the folks at the summit is any indication.
