Self-awareness is important. It allows us to stay grounded and react to different situations with some basis of consistency in relation to our own actions.

Of course, our mainstream media have no self-awareness so you get ridiculous freak outs like this, which my colleague streiff covered yesterday.

Now, I’ve been reliably told by many leftists on Twitter that if you don’t want controversial things you’ve said to be exposed, you should not say controversial things in the first place. Context, age, and time passed since said comments doesn’t matter. This was the standard applied to Kyle Kashuv, who you may recall was booted from Harvard after private racist comments he made when he was 15 were leaked. At no point did the media say “this is out of bounds” nor push back on the idea that such kinds of journalism are toxic to society and unfair.

In fact, the media reaction has been the complete opposite. They’ve perpetuated outrage journalism and weaponized it to attack their perceived political enemies. Whether it’s trying to destroy a high school kid for smirking at someone that was harassing him or doxxing a fork lift driver from New York because he made a joke video of Nancy Pelosi, there have been no boundaries at all from the liberal media. Worse, many press outlets have their own departments dedicated to this kind of nonsense, with CNN’s “KFile” being one of the more prominent.

Now that a conservative group headed by Arthur Schwartz is using their own tactics against them, they are suddenly crying foul though. On what basis? Well, they can’t really explain that given their own actions, so they just cast aside all self-awareness and pretend that what they are doing is somehow different.

Read this hilarious take from The New York Times and try not to spit your drink out.

Fearless and fair coverage? What planet do these people live on? They’ve run literally thousands of anonymously sourced, slanderous stories over the past three years. Despite this, the Times feels it gets to be the moral arbiter of what does and doesn’t qualify as “reporting.” That’s laughable.

Essentially, every average citizen just trying to live their lives is fair game for outrage journalism and mobbing, but not journalists themselves because reasons.

Townhall’s Guy Benson made another good point about this. Namely, that just weeks ago, the media were out in force defending Joaquin Castro for doxxing Trump donors, claiming it was fair game and shrugging at complaints about the tactics.

What the media want to do is sit in their bubble and destroy everyone else while asserting some kind of made up special right by which they can’t be similarly attacked. Meanwhile, conservative media figures have been dealing with bad faith attacks from the mainstream press for decades. Heck, Media Matters exists expressly for this purpose and they are fluffed by outlets like CNN and MSNBC all the time.

Now, Trump and his campaign are preparing to fight back and the media want to change the rules again. Actually, to be clearer, they want two different set of rules of to be applied.

Take this “report” released just today, which is targeting In and Out Burger’s founders for giving the paltry sum of $15,000 to political causes the past few years.

This “journalist” can target a family for simply giving political donations, but according to the liberal media, Emily Cohn herself is off limits. Nah, that’s not how this works. They came up with these new rules and they will be made to play by them.

I hope we can one day exist as a society free from woke mobs, outrage journalism, and targeting of private citizens but today is not that day. Until the media back off, not once, but enough to show they’ve gotten the message, they are fair game. I hope the Trump campaign drops the hammer on these people. Expose all their secrets and give them a taste of the hell they’ve been applying to other people’s lives for decades. Perhaps then they’ll come to a realization that what they’ve been doing is wrong.

What the media won’t be allowed to do any longer is act out their hypocrisy without consequences.

Alabama GOP Passes Resolution Asking DC Delegation To Seek Expulsion Of Ilhan Omar From Congress

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., listens as Office of Management and Budget Acting Director Russell Vought testifies before the House Budget Committee on Capitol Hill in Washington, Tuesday, March 12, 2019, during a hearing on the fiscal year 2020 budget. (AP Photo/Susan Walsh)

Earlier in August, after the Israeli government declined to allow Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) the opportunity to visit the country, it was revealed the trip itself was sponsored by a group that supported the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) effort against Israel and also had significant ties to terrorist sympathizers.

That group, Palestinian Initiative for the Promotion of Global Dialogue and Democracy, better known as MIFTAH, has for years “carried notable ties to terrorist sympathizers, has openly accused Israel of atrocities, and supports the boycott of Israeli products.”

Now lawmakers in Alabama have decided they’ve had enough and passed a resolution calling on Alabama representatives serving in Congress to consider beginning the process to expel Omar from Congress for, among other things, what they say is her blatant anti-semitism.

That was the takeaway on Saturday at the ALGOP’s summer meeting hosted on the Plains in Lee County after the body passed a resolution introduced by State Rep. Tommy Hanes (R-Bryant) calling for Alabama’s congressional delegation to seek the expulsion of their Democratic colleague Omar.

“It’s just simply asking this body to ask the U.S. delegation, the Alabama delegation in Washington, D.C. to start proceedings to unseat Ilhan Omar, congresswoman from Minnesota,” Hanes said. “This woman is continuously spewing anti-American rhetoric, anti-Semitism. She is un-American. She came from a war-torn country in Somalia to seek protection under Lady Liberty’s hand.”

The resolution notes that Rep. Omar falsely accused American armed forces of committing war crimes, sympathized with a convicted terrorist, and “has a record of using anti-Semitic language.”

This is not the first time Alabama legislators have openly condemned some of Omar’s statements. Back in April, U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers shared a Facebook post that angered some constituents when he said that Omar is one of a group of “radical Democrats” that “devalue and degrade our great nation.”

GENIUS: Monopoly Socialism Boardgame TAKES Your Money For Passing Go.

Westlake Legal Group monopoly-man-300x200 GENIUS: Monopoly Socialism Boardgame TAKES Your Money For Passing Go. socialism Front Page Stories Featured Story Allow Media Exception 2019

CHRISTmas is just 124 days away and lucky for you I have found the PERFECT gift for you to give the person who thinks that Karl Marx was a righteous dude.

Hasbro has released this game and those who believe that the government taking the majority of what you earn for the “good” of the whole do no find this funny. Take for example Rafi Schwartz over at Splinter News as he opines…

Socialism! It’s not just a school of political thought predicated on the equitable division of labor, resources, and benefits. It’s also, for some inexplicable reason, the theme of a new spin-off of the classic board game Monopoly.

That “Monopoly: Socialism” (featuring the taglines “what’s yours is ours” and “winning is for capitalists”) exists at all is depressing in and of itself, given the constant right-wing scaremongering about the U.S. turning into Soviet Russia if, god forbid, people were given adequate healthcare. But, it also seems to be profoundly—if predictably—lame as hell.

Ahhhhh you can just hear the proletariat whining about once again being shown for having little or no sense of humor. Good thing we do have adequate healthcare in this country or these dear souls, (If they believe in that sort of thing) would surely perish if we did not. Just remember that more Canadians come here for “healthcare” than United States citizens go there. We don’t need to wonder why do we?

All political and economic systems are FLAWED so let’s get that clear. Those countries that are driven by capitalism though have done far more for the world than Socialism, Communism or a weak Monarchy. Why is it that the Republic of the United States with Capitalism as it’s economic underpinning in less than 150 years flourished like no country in the history of man? The reason why is that it allows those to earn and create and keep the majority of that. The forced redistribution is a motivation killer and has proved over and over again to not deliver.

Which is the second part of those systems involved pretty much a death toll unlike any in human history. Josef Stalin made Hitler look like he was moving in slow motion in comparisons to what he did to his own people in the ole Sovie Union.

That Monopoly has a game that helps give simple highlights to this, of course, drives out friend son the left nuts. Thye cant grasp why others don’t see the virtue in taking from those that can to those that maybe don’t want to today. Amateurs.

As Rafi points out very ironically in his last paragraph…

In the meantime, there are a million better ways to spend game night than getting beaten over the head with cheap shots aimed at marketing capitalism to a crowd of people who will forever believe the game when it says “lousy neighbors, vegan meatloaf, and bad plumbing” are the inescapable hallmarks of socialism. Try Clue. At least that one has murder, which is always fun for the whole family.

Always comes back to murder if you don’t do what the dear leaders want.

So rapscallion of those peace-seeking vegetarians.

The Left Is Celebrating David Koch’s Passing, Ignorant of How Much they Agree With Him

When a famous conservative person dies, the classless parts of the left come out of the woodwork. Today, we sadly saw the passing of David Koch, a billionaire philanthropist. Koch passed away at 79 years of age after over two decades of battling with cancer.

Koch’s legacy is a net positive one for America, as he was often on the front lines of fighting for freedoms from a libertarian standpoint. Be it same-sex marriage or gun rights, Koch supported personal freedoms first.

As such, he understood that it was the right that was more in line to protect personal freedoms and often found himself opposed to Democrats. Despite his support for stances that Democrats find holy, giving money to Republicans is an unforgivable sin. Given this fact, the left consistently demonized the Koch brothers as one of the evilest institutions in America.

Go figure.

So when Koch died, you can bet there was a celebration by those completely ignorant of what Koch really stood for. As Shapiro noted, the absolute glee from leftists shows just how horrible our political conversation has become.

A perfect example is Rob Sheridan, comic creator and art director for the band Nine Inch Nails.

Sheridan received his just deserts for such a post almost immediately but swept it off as an attack by Russian bots.

Others joined in the chorus according to Twitchy.

It gets worse, as Koch’s death has even inspired people to go after his brother Charles.

For all intents and purposes, the left should have at least been able to find common ground with Koch. He supported women’s causes, broke with the GOP when it came to gay marriage and the war in Iraq, and even supported delving deep into how much funding the military really needs.

He won’t be remembered for these things. In fact, the left probably doesn’t know about any of these stances at all thanks to the efforts of media outlets painting him as the boogie man of the century.

It’s sad that we’ve gotten so nasty in our political discourse that a man who was one of the best shots at bridging the political divide will never get a chance to do so thanks to the way those in charge of information dissemination demonized him. It’s even sadder when you see how hateful people have become, even toward a man they should respect.

Democratic California Rep. Adam Schiff’s got someone gunnin’ for his seat.

Earlier this year, in a hip area of LA, history was made: A drag queen was elected to local government.

And now that dandy dude — who snagged a place on the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council — is comin’ for Adam.

That’s right: In 2020, the entertainer known as Maebe A. Girl will be maybe a congressman.

According to Route Fifty, Maebe will go face-to-heavily-made-up-face with Adam in an open primary.

Maebe considers Adam an ally of homosexuals. But he believes the gay community needs an actual gay person in the House of Representatives defending their interests, not just some friend of theirs tryin’ to get the job done:

Right now, Washington’s all messed up — Congress is full of rich white guys. Maebe wants to fix that hogwash; it’s time for Capitol Hill to get some regular ol’ everyday-American folks:

“We need more everyday people in Congress—its overwhelmingly older, white, wealthy men, and that’s just not representative of America, or my district.”

So does Maebe wanna be a congressman or congresswoman? Well, as per People, he identifies as transgender, which means, of course, he fancies himself female. But he also considers himself gender fluid, which — I’m assuming — means he’s neither and both and other sexes, too.

He’s the real him, and he’s also Maebe:

“People will say ‘I can’t take her seriously with that name, but it’s really just a statement about gender norms. I don’t feel like there’s a difference between Maebe A. Girl and me.”

In 2018, Adam received over 75% of the vote.

But Maebe’s got a secret weapon:

“It’s…hard for people to ignore you in drag.”

Absolutely true.

Maybe we’ll see Adam rise to the occasion and fight fire with fire. Maybe he’ll become Adaline Schiff.

Maebe.

Pants on Fire! CBS Host Explains Why U.S. Doesn’t Have Universal Health Care

Westlake Legal Group new-york-times3 Pants on Fire! CBS Host Explains Why U.S. Doesn’t Have Universal Health Care NY Times - Everything is tied to slavery Nikole Hannah-Jones Mainstream Media Liberal Elitism healthcare Government Gayle King Front Page Stories Featured Story donald trump democrats dean baquet Culture Allow Media Exception 2020

Mainstream media outlets are falling in line with the decree issued by New York Times’ executive editor Dean Baquet last week which demanded that virtually everything be tied to slavery.

CBS host Gayle King did not disappoint during an interview with Nikole Hannah-Jones, a writer for the New York Times. It was Hannah-Jones who penned the essay which introduced the newspaper’s new initiative, the “1619 Project.” The exchange can be viewed in the video below.

King, who has adopted the new narrative eagerly and completely, said, “The thing that’s so amazing about this that makes me so proud, you can look at just about anything happening in the world today and tie it to slavery…You look at the naming of Wall Street. You look at sugar that we eat. But the thing that stuck out to me was health care, you can tie health care to slavery.”

And Hannah-Jones responded:

We’re the only western industrialized country that doesn’t have universal health care. It starts with opposition to universal health care that occurs right after slavery when the Freedsmen’s Bureau was trying to offer free health care to the formerly enslaved and there was opposition to that. And so even today, you see with polling white Americans will reject social programs if they think large numbers of black people will benefit from them. So, the harms from slavery have not been contained because there are millions of white Americans, there are millions of Latinos and Asians and black Americans who don’t have health care, who can’t get insurance because of slavery.

That’s some profound analysis from Hannah-Jones. It’s so ridiculous, it’s difficult to take seriously. Universal health care was not even a thought in 1865 when the U.S. was reeling from a long and bloody war that had nearly torn apart the country.

Approximately 625,000 white American men had just died in a fight to eliminate slavery. According to Ancestry.com, this number is greater than the number of American deaths in “both World Wars, Korea, and Vietnam combined. This amounted to 2 percent of the population at the time, which would be equivalent to about 6 million Americans dying today.”

Hannah-Jones would like us to believe the U.S. doesn’t have universal health care in 2019 because white Americans were opposed to providing free health care to former slaves 154 years ago.

On the contrary, it might surprise these ladies to hear that following the Civil War, from 1865 to 1870, the U.S. government provided free health care to over one million sick and dying slaves. The government established the “Freedmen’s Bureau” which built 40 hospitals and employed over 120 physicians.

Perhaps most important is that prior to the early 1900s, no governments were in the business of providing healthcare to their citizens. Blacks weren’t excluded from federal healthcare. There was no federal healthcare.

There were two exceptions. In 1798, President John Adams signed a public health law called “An act for the relief of sick and disabled Seamen.” Every seaman paid 20 cents per month which paid for marine hospitals to be built and for the care of sick and disabled marines. It covered no other segments of the population, not even the spouses of covered marines.

Additionally in 1854, the “Bill for the Benefit of the Indigent Insane passed both houses of Congress, but was vetoed by President Franklin Pierce.” His reason? “The federal government should not commit itself to social welfare, which should be the responsibility of the states.”

The next time the issue of federal government involvement in healthcare was raised was by then-former President Theodore Roosevelt (he was out of office at that time) who ran for president in 1912 and campaigned on “sickness insurance.” He was defeated and that ended that.

European countries were the first to pass any form of social welfare. In 1911, the United Kingdom passed the National Insurance Act of 1911 that provided medical care and replacement of some lost wages if a worker became ill. It did not, however, cover spouses or dependents.

It wasn’t until the Great Depression until the government became involved in social welfare.

This brief history indicates that, outside of the seaman’s monthly premium system, the federal government did not provide healthcare for any of its citizens, white, black, Native-American or otherwise until President Roosevelt’s New Deal in the 1930’s. It simply was not even on the government’s radar until then.

The fact that the U.S. government has not passed universal healthcare is because the majority of American voters oppose it. This has zero, zip, nada to do with race or slavery and everything to do with defeating Trump. To suggest otherwise is to be disingenuous. This is BS and I think both Hannah-Jones and King  know it is.

Maybe we shouldn’t be so hard on them. After all, they’re just following orders.

NBC News Proclaims That Heterosexuality Is “Just Not Working”

Westlake Legal Group 2zr8u6-1-620x416 NBC News Proclaims That Heterosexuality Is “Just Not Working” Uncategorized stupid Society relationships NBC News miley cyrus marriage LGBTQ insane heterosexuality Harmful Front Page Stories Featured Story editorial dangerous Crazy

Someone in NBC’s newsroom apparently thought it would be a good idea to publish an editorial praising the destruction of marriages as a triumph over the patriarchy because everything is stupid.

Over the past week, an assortment of trending stories — from Jeffrey Epstein to the Dayton and El Paso mass shooters, to Miley Cyrus’s separation and Julianne Hough’s declaration that she’s “not straight” — together have laid bare the strictures of an American patriarchy on the edge of a nervous breakdown. As the status quo, heterosexuality is just not working.

What does the El Paso shooting have to do with the patriarchy? I’m pretty sure that was about a crazy person and white supremacy. But when your currency is victimhood, one can essentially tie everything to supposed inequalities among identity groups and that’s what this author is doing.

She proclaims that “heterosexuality is just not working,” you know, except for it populating the earth for the entirety of human existence and forming the basis of the family unit that has given us the innovations and societal advancements we enjoy today.

Who is the model of proper sexuality and relationship this author wants us to learn from? Why, Miley Cyrus of course.

Shortly after it was announced that Cyrus and her husband, Liam Hemsworth, were splitting up, photos of the singer kissing a woman in Italy made the tabloid rounds. But even before the break-up, Cyrus embraced her nonheterosexual identity in Elle’s August cover story. In language that echoed Hough’s ownership of, and responsibility for, her sexuality and marriage choices, Cyrus noted that she “made a partner decision” by choosing to marry Hemsworth in late 2018 because he was, she explained, “the person I feel has my back the most.”

Cyrus thoughtfully explains how her sexuality is both distinct from and influences her definition of what a relationship looks like. “Being someone who takes such pride in individuality and freedom, and being a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community,” she writes in a personal memo in Vanity Fair in February, “I’ve been inspired by redefining again what a relationship in this generation looks like. Sexuality and gender identity are completely separate from partnership.”

Or, and hear me out, maybe Cyrus’ perverse view of marriage was just really stupid and that’s why it led to her recent divorce. Perhaps marrying someone just because you feel like they “have your back” while giving nothing back in the relationship is not enough to sustain marital bliss? Perhaps her “redefining” of what a relationship looks like just sucks?

Sometimes I wonder what freakish timeline I’ve accidentally found myself in. What’s written in this woman’s piece isn’t just a recipe for relational disaster, it’s a blueprint for the downfall of civilization. Marriage is not a compact centered around selfish desires. It’s a compact centered on loving, caring for, and prioritizing your spouse over yourself.

I also shouldn’t have to point out that heterosexuality, contrary to the assertions made, is actually working and is the basis for the continuation of humanity. Maybe lay off bashing it too much.

What this article really shows is just how dangerously narcissistic left-wing thought has become. Everything is about self gratification in the here and now, those around us be damned. Self-sacrifice in relationships is being actively discouraged and that leads to a very dangerous place.

During a “Coffee with Your Congressman” event in a wealthy New Jersey suburb Tuesday, Democratic Rep. Tom Malinowski reminded voters why they need illegal immigrants: to “[mow their] beautiful lawns.”

He explained:

“We have to think about the jobs, because the reason this happens is because there are a lot of jobs in our community that — like it or not, for better or worse — Americans are not willing to take.”

This is a notion offered up by politicians for several years now; it’s also an idea — it should be noted — that’s a big hunk o’ baloney.

If the pay is fair for the work, whatever the job, there are Americans ready to do it.

Just ask Mike Rowe (here); not everyone’s in training to be a software applications developer.

But Tom doesn’t believe that:

“I mean, who do you think is taking care of our seniors? Fifty percent of the eldercare workers in the state of New Jersey are immigrants, most of them legal – most of them documented – but certainly some of them are not. Who do you think is mowing our beautiful lawns in Somerset County? We don’t usually ask, but a lot of those workers are undocumented.”

There are also American teenagers mowing lawns, and American adults with lawncare businesses — in areas or situations where they haven’t been priced out of the opportunity.

Tom wanted all of y’all to know that teenagers now are too consumed with robots to push a mower:

“There just aren’t a lot of kids who – sorry – are from Montgomery High [School], who are going to be doing that full time. You guys are going into robotics, for goodness sake.”

Amid the crowd, a young person interjected that they work at a place teaching kids to code their own video games.

Tom replied, “You work at Code Ninjas — exactly. You’re a bunch of elitists. You’re not going to mow lawns.”

Here’s perhaps a shock for Tom: For many Americans of all walks of life, it isn’t about whether the American teenager down the street or the American-owned company in town or an illegal immigrant is going to mow their lawns.

For many, many Americans…

…brace yourself, Tom…and Beto…and Nancy…

…many Americans…

mow their OWN lawns.

They actually own mowers and use ’em.

Without any help at all from illegal immigrants.

Or anyone else.

Tom needs help himself: This is only his first term in Congress, and he’s in a swing district. The promise of a second term is tenuous.

But this ain’t his first political rodeo: he was Obama’s Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor.

Recently, Mr.Malinowski became the first swing-representing Dem to endorse the impeachment of Donald Trump.

That seems risky, but I don’t have time to think about it — I’ve got other articles to write.

And yardwork to do.

Texas Has a Growing Homeless Problem, and California May Shoulder a Good Deal of Blame

The issue of homelessness in Texas has been on the rise, specifically in its capital of Austin.

According to the Washington Post, staunch Democrats in Austin have expressed a desire to switch parties purely out of the way the city has handled homelessness, which lately, includes allowing them to sleep anywhere they’d like:

But as Paul, 50, sprawled out shirtless on the sidewalk on a 100-degree day, shop owner Craig Staley stood a few feet away on Congress Avenue reconsidering his party affiliation.

“I got two emails last month from customers who said, ‘I can’t go to your store anymore because it smells like urine,’” said Staley, who operates Royal Blue Grocery. “I am a Democrat at heart; I have been in Austin, Texas, for over 30 years. But I am telling you, I am feeling a lot more red these days when it comes to my business.”

Over the past couple of months, Governor Greg Abbott has been giving the issue his personal attention and considering actions to take against the Democratic leadership of Austin for its allowance of homeless people to take over the streets. As he does this, Austin Mayor Steve Adler is going to California to talk to leaders who specialize in creating the problem for advice.

In fact, the policies surrounding the homeless in Austin look a lot like the kind seen in San Francisco and Los Angeles, both of which have a level of homeless so extreme that medieval diseases are making a comeback. This is on top of the mounting drug problem and excess of trash that litters the streets. In San Francisco, the homeless problem also comes with seeing an inordinate amount of used needles littering the sidewalk and a feces problem.

Austin seems to be heading in the same direction.

“They thought it would be compassionate and not a big deal, but it has been an absolute disaster for this city,” said Matt Mackowiak, chairman of the GOP party of Travis county according to WaPo. “This is our best example of [liberal] overreach, so we have been very strategic focusing on this issue.”

According to Austin’s homeless, California may be partly to blame for the rising tide.

“They said there is a waiting list of at least six months,” Curtis Underwood, a homeless man said. “I guess I need to get a job, but the rent is so expensive because all the people from California are moving here.”

As businesses move to Texas, it brings with them their coastal employees. The rent skyrockets, driving people into the streets. However, it may not just the economy doing so either. The rate at which the homeless are growing is monumental, and it may be that the homeless in California are hearing about the opportunities in Texas and are heading there themselves.

They’re heading there with the help of the state of California, no less.

According to a 2017 article from The Guardian, California has been bussing out its homeless problem for some time, essentially paying for bus tickets out of the state and sending them elsewhere, using America’s national bussing companies as a valve to release pressure on itself. Texas is likely one of them, especially with its business boom giving out of state officials the idea that warmer climes and better business opportunities may give them a good chance of getting back on their feet.

There has yet to be a hard count on the number of homeless people California has bussed to Texas, but we do know that California’s impoverished do like to migrate to the Lone Star State. A 2017 article from the Sacramento Bee shows that when it comes to those in California who live below the poverty line, most choose Texas:

The leading destination for those leaving California is Texas, with about 293,000 economically disadvantaged residents leaving and about 137,000 coming for a net loss of 156,000 from 2005 through 2015. Next up are states surrounding California; in order, Arizona, Nevada and Oregon.

All told, California lost about 260,000 economically disadvantaged residents to the 10 states with the lowest cost of living during that time period, compared to a net gain of about 40,000 from the 10 states (other than California) with the highest cost of living.

It’s not unreasonable to assume many of the homeless would choose a bus ticket out of town for the greener, job-filled pastures of Texas.

So we have Californians moving here to drive up the rent, Texas Democrats getting advice on how to handle it, and California likely bussing its homeless to Texas.

Unsolicited Advice: Don’t Let Your Son Be a Moron

Welcome to Unsolicited Advice – the weekly column where I offer advice to people who don’t know me about things they never asked about.

Last week I told David to go learn a trade. This week we grab our flip flops and head to Florida, where a young teenager is being arrested for posting threats online about shooting up his school.  Unsurprisingly, the police in Florida don’t take such things lightly and showed up a junior’s house, where they explained to mom that junior can’t just go around tell people he’s planning on committing mass murder. It is simply frowned upon.

But my advice today is not for junior. Junior is 15 years-old and while I do want the police to be better safe than sorry, I also empathize with him because I’ve met many 15-year-old boys in my life – even raised one – and I can say very truthfully that most of them are idiots, if only briefly. So, junior may well be dangerous but most likely he’s just a dumbass. Like I said, it is better for the police to be safe than sorry. I’m sure their ratio of dumbasses to genuine threats is pretty lopsided.

No, today my advice is for you, junior’s mom. You have given us a great example of just how boys like junior become the types dumbass teenagers who brag about shooting human beings in a video game chatroom. Today I advise you, Mama Junior on where to go from here if you don’t want junior the video game idiot to become junior the felon.

Mama junior, my first moment of concern watching this video was how stunned you were at the police. You weren’t stunned that junior had actually told dozens, hundreds or maybe thousands of people that he wanted to kill his schoolmates. You say repeatedly that you know your son and he would never do such a thing. Let’s assume that is true…after all, I’m a mother too. I can’t even entertain the thought of my own son behaving so badly. So I understand your refusal to believe that he meant it. What I don’t understand is your seeming acceptance that he said it at all.

You didn’t even seem to bat an eye in his direction. Your first reaction was shock that anyone would consider dragging your baby off to a jail cell. That tells me a lot about why junior even felt justified to use the threat at all. I am 95% (I’ll leave that last 5% to “boys are dumb” odds) certain that my teenage son would stop himself from doing that not out of any good sense but at the very least because he knows that his behind would be toast. Daddy don’t play…but mama don’t even acknowledge the game in the first place. He is too scared of us to try to scare other people like that.

And speaking of Daddy…where is Daddy Junior? I’m willing to concede that perhaps the police showed up unexpectedly and dad was at work or at the store or just busy ignoring his annoying teenage son for a while. Junior did mention his dad’s guns, so there is a dad somewhere at least. However, once again the fact that junior thinks he can talk about his dad’s firearms to boost his tough guy cred is a red flag.

I know you think you know your son, Mama. I know you think you understand what he would and wouldn’t do. We all do. But the tough truth is that our kids keep all kinds of things from us. Think of all the things you hid from your parents growing up. You tried to tell the officers you and your son are extremely close…all I saw was another red flag. Mamas who are so close to their teenage sons that they think those sons can do no wrong are typically doing one of two things – smothering or making their son a de facto, platonic husband. Both things are dysfunctional, both things lead to dysfunctional young men.

Stop.

Mama, Junior may very well have been joking but there are all kinds of things we don’t say out loud in public places. Your chances of boarding an airplane that is carrying a bomb are slim to none but we still don’t scream about bombs when we’re in the airport. That will get you kicked off your flight and arrested.

You should have been helping the officers load him into the car and happily waved to him as he headed off to a serious wake up call. You can make sure your descriptions of him as a “good boy” stay true by making sure he gets to experience the consequences of his idiocy. Yeah, it will scare you and him.

Good.

Thank those officers for taking every threat seriously. Their diligence may very well save your son’s life one day. Don’t punish them because you’re raising a moron.

Take away Junior’s video game privileges for a few weeks, put him on hard labor and for heaven’s sake…stop treating him like he hung the moon. You’re going to turn him into the person you keep promising us he is not.

What’s your unsolicited advice for Mama Junior?
