Beto O’Rourke Assigns Blame for the El Paso Shooting

There have been two mass shootings in the past 24 hours, one in El Paso, TX and the other in Dayton, OH. We are still waiting on a lot of details to be made clear. There’s currently a manifesto floating around that hasn’t been confirmed to belong to the first shooter, but regardless, it’s fairly certain what his ideology was.

As always happens after shootings like these, politicians rush to play politics. For many, that takes the form of renewed calls for gun control. What those measures are or how they’d prevent said shootings is almost never made clear. There won’t be any rational conversations taking place over the next few days on possible solutions. Just a lot of painting one’s political opponents as evil.

Beto O’Rourke decided to enter that fray yesterday.

Currently sitting near the bottom of the Democratic field, I suppose Beto felt the need to make headlines. Blaming the President for a mass shooting will do the trick.

I’m in no mood to talk politics this morning, but I’ll just say this. We still don’t even know the full scale of this maniac shooter’s ideology and people are already rushing to blame Trump and all Republicans because that’s what they always do.

This is a one way street of course. When a Bernie supporter shoots up a baseball field, we are quickly assured that accusing Trump of killing people via Obamacare repeal had nothing to do with it. When an Islamic jihadist kills 49 people at a nightclub, he’s described as a “lone wolf” and we are told it’s insensitive and insulting to expect condemnations from Muslims. When an Antifa member tries to firebomb an ICE facility, the media doesn’t even report on it, much less point out he was using the exact rhetoric Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was spreading.

Yet, when a white supremacist perpetuates an act of evil we can never just blame the shooter and the radical ideology being propagated on garbage sites like 8chan. Instead, everything suddenly broadens into every Republican being responsible, including the President. No Republican, including Trump, has ever called people to shoot up Wal-Marts or bars. Period. The person to blame here is the shooter and a gross ideology.

Beto O’Rourke is not a serious person. To come out and try to make this about himself by ranting for the cameras that the President is a racist who is responsible for this shooting is simply disgusting. It’s standing on the bodies of the dead to try to try to help yourself politically and deserves condemnation.

Everyone needs to take a step back right now.

The details on this are still sketchy. According to news report, last night a gunman armed with a semi-automatic rifle of some type and wearing body armor opening fire in the Oregon District of Dayton, OH. Police were on the scene and killed the shooter within a very short period of time. Before dying, the shooter managed to kill at least 9 people and wound at least 16. Right now we know nothing about the gunman. That, unsurprisingly, has not kept the antigun nutters from affixing labels and motives to him.

We’ll have more updates as news becomes available.

Multiple Reports Say El Paso Shooter Wrote Hate-Filled Manifesto

The primary suspect behind the mass shooting at an El Paso, Texas, Walmart may have written a manifesto, multiple news outlets are reporting.

Reporters are basing this on statements from elected officials speaking to the press about what they know so far. Authorities, however, have not confirmed the alleged manifesto belongs to 21-year-old Patrick Crusius of Dallas.

At a late afternoon news conference, officials said the suspect, identified as a 21-year-old white man from the Dallas suburb of Allen, Texas, had posted a hate-filled manifesto before undertaking the shootings, in which at least 26 others were wounded.

A law enforcement official told the Associated Press that the suspect taken into custody was a Dallas-area man named Patrick Crusius.

The official was not authorized to discuss an ongoing investigation publicly and spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity.

So far, there is no public confirmation that the manifesto referenced was indeed written by the Crusius. However, the reports on the document say that it was a far-right manifesto raging against immigration, among other issues. It was posted on an alt-right message board that is well-known for its trolling as it is its extreme views.

Despite there being no official confirmation that Crusius authored any such document, several politicians are speaking out about it.

At the news conference, U.S. Rep. Veronica Escobar, a Democrat who represents the El Paso area, said more needs to be done to address hate.

“The manifesto narrative is fueled by hate, and it’s fueled by racism, bigotry and division,” Escobar said.

The FBI is investigating the claim, though there has so far been no word on when a determination will be made.

Two United Pilots Are Arrested for Drunkenness Before an International Flight, & it Brings to Mind Some Archaic Comedy

Westlake Legal Group passenger-plane-19469_1280-620x413 Two United Pilots Are Arrested for Drunkenness Before an International Flight, & it Brings to Mind Some Archaic Comedy Uncategorized Front Page Stories Featured Story

In the 60’s and 70’s, comedian Foster Brooks was a big hit with his “drunk pilot” routine. It was funny to people, thanks to the foundational fact that it wasn’t true.

But a drunk behind the control wheel in real life?

Not a knee-slapper.

Two commercial airline pilots were arrested in Scotland Saturday for failing a breathalyzer test before boarding their Newark, NJ-bound plane.

Good grief.

According to police, the United Airline employees were being held in custody under violation of an aviation law prohibiting intoxication on the job.

Officials said the men — ages 45 and 61 — were called to the airport at 7:35 a.m. and arrested before they could board UA flight 162.

Unfortunately for the passengers, their 9:00 a.m. flight was canceled.

Fortunately for the passengers, their potential under-the-influence demise was prevented.

United posted news of the cancellation — and offered to help those affected — via Twitter:

So what’s the Scottish maximum for liquor-lovin’ drivers of large hollow tubes above the clouds? Well, it’s less than half the blood-alcohol amount granted to wheels-to-the-ground motorists.

As reported by the BBC, the two would-be addled airmen are set to appear in court Tuesday. They’ve yet to be charged.

If you’ve never seen Foster Brooks’s drunk character, check it out below as part of the great Dean Martin Show. It’s dated, to say the least — the attitude toward alcoholism has profoundly changed. But even with that aside, Foster’s first line alone is a killer — in today’s woke climate, it would never…fly.

Andrew Cuomo Gives a Go at Being a Big Nitwit…And the Kick is Good!

Westlake Legal Group martin-luther-3958806_1280-620x413 Andrew Cuomo Gives a Go at Being a Big Nitwit…And the Kick is Good! Uncategorized Front Page Stories Featured Story

Here’s something you don’t much hear.

On Friday, Chris Cuomo called on his “white brothers and sisters” to do as he does.

I thought Trump was supposed to be all into being white, but it sounds as if Chris is.

The host previously, according to CNN, “[called] out members of the GOP for defending President Donald Trump’s racist remarks” (let’s talk about the meaning of the word — here).

That would be billionaire Donald John Trump, a video from whom was played at Chris’s brother Andrew’s bachelor party.

But Chris, apparently, has millions of brothers. And they’re all white.

So he told his bros in whiteness:

“Don’t be a sucker, my white brothers and sisters.”

He also threw out an endorsement of the segregation-era view that, ultimately, there are only two races — white and non-white (currently “people of color).

Perplexingly, he did all this to assert that some other guy views people solely according to the color of their skin.

Here we go:

“We’re missing the point of what the problem is with the President’s pattern of pounding people of color and the places they live. Here it is, his best defense: ‘I’m the least racist person there is in the world, as far as I’m concerned.’ First, this really matters: The ‘least racist’ doesn’t mean not racist.”

Thanks for the clarity, C-man. So everyone’s racist? Including Chris Cuomo?

More racial categorization:

“Last night…the only African-American Republican member of the House — think about that when you’re wondering why the party’s so quiet, think about that — he said, ‘I’m not seeking re-election.’ So now what about all the non-white members of the Congress on the Republican side? How long do they believe they can stay quiet…or pretend that this is not about politics of division?”

Do Chris understand the meaning of “division?”

It seems to me that a whole lot of TV pundits have caught a contagion — one from which they believe they can inadvertently condemn their own actions and still be taken seriously. Or just plain say things that make no sense and groove on down the road.

I think someone may have carried that bug to Capitol Hill, too.

You’ve gotta watch him say this, but I’ll transcribe it here, as well. What a goob:

“What you ignore, you empower. And what you condone, you own. But too many…stop the damage at those who are being maligned, and those who should stand up against it — like I just did.”

Gyah, the Goofball level is threatening to break the meter.

Ya gotta watch it.

All this follows the President’s tweets about Baltimore and its terrible conditions, which — in fact — have been echoed by both parties (here, here, and here).

But Goobers gotta goob.

So much of the news is heavy.

Sometimes it’s nice to lay back, have some sweet tea, and enjoy the lighter things in life — like a viral sensation puppyin’ it up all over the webisphere.

When Dallas, Texas’s Hearts and Bones Rescue took in a momma and her eleven babies from Dallas Animal Services — a shelter which harbors the third largest number of animals in the country — they got a big surprise: One of the 5-week-old pups had, hilariously, a mustache.

The crew got posted in photo form to Instagram last week, and the black and white mustachioed mutt got all the attention.

The facial-haired phenomenon and her entire family were welcomed home by a local foster, and the video of their exit from Hearts and Bones is hilarious.

Check it out:

The litter will travel to the Big Apple in late August or early September to be adopted into their foreverhomes.

In the meantime, the sweet pooch has been named Salvador Dolly, after the famed Surrealist painter:

You’re welcome.

Earlier today a gunman walked into a WalMart in Cielo Vista Mall in El Paso, TX, and opened fire. At this writing it is reported that 19 people were murdered and another 40 wounded in one way or another. The gunman, 21-year old Patrick Crusius from the Dallas area of Texas was apprehended at the scene and is in police custody.

At this point we really don’t know much more than that and we can be certain that much of what is circulating now will probably be false. Here are some quick hits.

Real Life: Michael Avenatti Says He’s 50/50 On Jumping Into the Presidential Race

Westlake Legal Group 5fb382c4-ea08-419d-b403-be9e085aa8f6-620x317 Real Life: Michael Avenatti Says He’s 50/50 On Jumping Into the Presidential Race primary Politics Michael Avenatti media bias julie swetnick jail indictments Front Page Stories Front Page feds Featured Story FBI donald trump democrats CNN Brian Stelter Brett Kavanaugh Anderson Cooper 2020 election

Just in case you didn’t think the 2020 race was crazy enough, Michael Avenatti told CNBC that he is considering running for President and that there is a 50/50 shot he’ll do so. This would be the same Michael Avenatti that’s currently under multiple federal indictments, including stealing money for a paraplegic.

The report comes per The Daily Caller.

Embattled celebrity lawyer Michael Avenatti is revisiting a potential 2020 presidential bid and told CNBC he is “one of the few effective fighters” in the Democratic Party.

“Never say never,” he told CNBC Friday when asked if he might still run in 2020. “The Dems need a non-traditional fighter. They have a lot of talent but not a lot of fighters.”

Avenatti said he puts the odds of running at 50-50, and he will make a final decision in the next few months, CNBC reported Saturday.

“I don’t think I need to make a final decision for a number of months. I have the name ID and everyone knows I’m one of the few effective fighters that the Dems have,” said Avenatti, who adopted the catch phrase “basta,” or “enough,” during his frequent attacks on President Donald Trump.

I’m trying to recall exactly what Avenatti has been so effective at. Yes, he got the better of Michael Cohen, but that case was closed without touching anyone else. Even on the civil side, Trump won the defamation lawsuit and forced Stormy Daniels to pay his legal fees.

On the topic of Brett Kavanaugh, no man was more responsible for seeing to his confirmation than Michael Avenatti. He trotted out an accuser named Jule Swetnick, who not only had no credibility, but whose tales were so unbelievable than even the media had to eventually back off them.

Of course, we’d be remiss to talk about Avenatti without giving credit to those in the media who propelled him to fame. The worst actor in this regard was CNN, who put him on the air over 100 times in just the span of a few months. There was a period where he had a nearly nightly hit on Anderson Cooper’s show. Brian Stelter praised him on his weekend show as a serious Presidential candidate.

Do I think Avenatti will run? I wouldn’t put it past him at this point. He’s obviously a egomaniac with a weighty addiction to the spotlight. There’s also a possibility that he may believe the feds will back off if he’s a candidate for President. I highly doubt that given the indictments have already dropped, but when you are facing decades in prison, rationality doesn’t have to be part of a play.

It’d certainly add a bit more spice to the Democratic field at least.

‘Morning Joe’ Crew Compares Trump to Mussolini [WATCH]

Westlake Legal Group MSNBC-620x423 ‘Morning Joe’ Crew Compares Trump to Mussolini [WATCH] Trump Derangement Syndrome Trump mussolini Morning Joe Media Joe Scarborough Front Page Stories Featured Story Donny Deutsch

‘Morning Joe’ convened a giant panel on Thursday to break down the Democrat debates. Unsurprisingly, the conversation devolved into “orange bad man” quite quickly. Host and struggling musician Joe Scarborough compared Trump to “Fat Bastard” from the Austin Powers movies. He was so tickled by his own “genius” that he could not stop droning on about it until he was sure every person understood the brilliance of his comparison, and when it seemed there were some people on the panel who didn’t get it or didn’t think it was funny he didn’t let that stop him. Scarborough continued to beat a dead movie character until Donnie Deutsch screamed “Uncle!” and acknowledged the reference.

Although the topic was the debate stage, Deutsch could not resist the urge to compare Trump to a totalitarian despot. It’s become a fetish at this point.

You used the ‘Austin Powers’ rather light metaphor. I with all seriousness, the Mussolini, when Mussolini is standing up on the terrace like this, with a face like that, to me, the parallels with Trump in terms of that self-satisfaction at the chaos he’s creating, the parallels are stunning there. You know what’s so ironic? Coming off of, to me, pretty poor debates both nights for the Democrats, if Trump stood up and basically talked about the economy, talked about, ‘Hey, by the way, two benchmark Democratic strongholds, criminal reform and immigration, by the way, they brought up that Obama deported more people than I ever did. By the way, they were arguing about critical reform. I passed the most comprehensive Criminal Prison Reform Act.’ Stronghold Democratic benchmarks that he could own, of course he doesn’t go there.

Hysterical LITERALLY HITLERWestlake Legal Group 2122 ‘Morning Joe’ Crew Compares Trump to Mussolini [WATCH] Trump Derangement Syndrome Trump mussolini Morning Joe Media Joe Scarborough Front Page Stories Featured Story Donny Deutsch ing aside, Deutsch’s statement is tragically indicative of the current state of the mainstream press. Although their job is to report on the mechanics of government (among other things) they are so feverish with Trump Derangement Syndrome that they can only report on what they think he said instead of what he is saying. If they actually ever listened to Trump instead of just reading their own headlines in one never-ending circle jerk they would know that he is constantly tweeting and talking about all those things. Every chance he gets he talks about how great his economy is, how he’s worked to pass criminal reform and done so successfully and how Obama was worse on all those policies than he is. Trump loves to talk about his own accomplishments…why Deutsch and company don’t know that is perplexing since they’re always complaining about how egotistical he is.

Do you know who else ignored facts in order to form their own narratives, Donnie?

Mussolini.

TRANSCRIPT (video below):

SCARBOROUGH: “Did you see the Austin Powers movies? He reminded me at times of the Fat Bastard, it’s a character. It’s a character in ‘Austin Powers’. And he’s sniffing and looking around, he’s saying, ‘Thank you, thank you.’ I thought he was going to say ‘Get into my stomach’ at one point. He’s just really starting to take on this role of Dear Leader. And you can see it last night more than usual. He’s amping it up. He’s amping his audiences up, amping up his racial attacks and the demagoguery. This is a guy — he is, as David Brooks said this morning in ‘The New York Times,’ he’s a force, and the only way the Democrats are going to beat him is with an equal force.”
GEIST: “Well, I mean, we have become so numb to the way that Donald Trump behaves. And when you watch a rally like that, it’s worth pausing to recognize that the President of all the United States and all of these cities is trashing the cities over which he presides, whether it’s Los Angeles or San Francisco or Baltimore. But he knows politically he’s not going to win those places, so he’s made a calculation he can go after that to stoke up the people in that crowd and stoke up the people who voted for him last time. I think it’s also worth mentioning, Yamiche, how far the bar has been lowered for Donald Trump. When everyone was crossing their fingers and saying, ‘Let’s see if he asks the public, the group in front of him, or encourages the group in front of him to chant ‘Send them back’ about the United States citizens, about United States congresswomen. And when he does don’t that, everyone says, ‘Oh, good, okay, at least he didn’t do that.’ That’s the president of the United States and people are acting grateful that he didn’t let the crowd chant ‘Send them back.’”
BRZEZINSKI: “Good point.”
ALCINDOR: “In some ways this is what has made Trump to be able to survive scandals and controversies, because right when you think he’ll hit the lowest, President Trump pulls back just a little and says, ‘You know what? I won’t go for the racist chant of send her back. Instead, what I’ll do is make light for several minutes of the suffering of families and of American citizens all across this country in places like Baltimore and Chicago, which happened to have majority black cities and centers. But then not make — not talk about the suffering that’s going on in the state that he’s in, which is Ohio. I just came back from Ohio. There’s a place called Masonry, Ohio, and it’s nicknamed Misery, Ohio because people there are suffering so much between economic devastation and drug overdoses. And the President didn’t say anything about that. Abby Phillip of CNN had a really smart tweet, she said, ‘Can you imagine a president going on an extended riff about the opioid crisis and overdoses in rural areas across this country?’ And you probably can’t. And it’s true, you probably can’t imagine the President focusing on the counties that I visited, which are 95% white, 91% white in a lot of areas that went for him overwhelmingly in Ohio. He doesn’t want to talk about the struggles those places are facing because a lot of them are run by Republicans.”
SCARBOROUGH: “Yeah. When he’s walking around like that, Donny Deutsch, if I’m a little kid, I’m worried, I’m just worried. ‘Get in my stomach.’ It’s an ‘Austin Powers’ joke, we’ll show you the clips later. So, Donny, Jonathan Lemire and the Associated Press wrote an article this past week about how Donald Trump keeps lowering the bar. That every time you think he has gone as low as he can possibly go, which is of course over three years, has been a great deal. Even the most cynical White House observers before he started attacking Elijah and started attacking these women of color in Congress thought that Trump had gone as low as he could go. As Jonathan reports, a lot of reporters and people inside the White House were shocked that actually the frantic sort of management lifestyle has become even more detached and even more dangerous.”
BRZEZINSKI: “Yes.”
SCARBOROUGH: “We don’t know where the bottom is. We do know that he continues to shock by the day.”
DEUTSCH: “You used the ‘Austin Powers’ rather light metaphor. The scary thing for me, and Joe, you and I talked about this last week, as him being a transactional ideologue, is he’s going to keep lowering it, keep digging, digging into the base, and then some time around April or May of next year pivot and start acting somewhat normal. And to your whole premise of the segment, that because —“
BRZEZINSKI: “This is normal.”
DEUTSCH: “So, so low. That when he starts just giving a Normandy speech and talks about why don’t we relook at health care a little bit, people are go wow. A mad irony that worries me. He’s going to keep going there. I think I should’s the — I think it’s top it is, I think he’s going to dig and dig and then Pivot and then be tough to beat.”
SCARBOROUGH: “He’s not proven himself capable of being disciplined for more than a day or two. He can give the Normandy speech and then give an interview on Fox News with the crosses of the dead from D-Day behind him and launch the most inflammatory, terrible political attacks against people in the United States. So he can’t — he’s incapable of doing that. I will say the thing that last night’s rally showed — it was a great — I think it was a great comparison with what the Democrats were doing. It showed here is a guy that strutted across the stage. He was — he was being a demagogue. Picking at racial resentments and then you go like the previous two nights you have Democrats going, you know, I have looked at subsection three of page 487 of your Medicare for all plan and I fear that after the third deductible that the coverage may not be as satisfactory if you are in Medicare zone three instead of Medicare zone one. Of course you have to weigh that with a Brookings — I could go because the Democrats went on all night.”
BRZEZINSKI: “They did.”
SCARBOROUGH: “They never — there’s not a Democrat on the stage that understands how to take it to a higher level, that understands the bigger things. I think most importantly, something that Trump understood from the very beginning they need to get you don’t have to play by the rules. If CNN or MSNBC sets up a question to say, senator Harris, Joe Biden is a jerk and he thinks you’re a jerk. How do you respond? You know what? They don’t have to play by the rules. They can go I think Joe Biden has served this country well. Very proud of everything he’s done and I stand with Joe Biden. He stands with me. Now let’s talk about the man who is changing America for the worst. Donald Trump. They don’t have to take the bait, but they always do. And there doesn’t seem to be a Democrat that understands where we are right now in history against this man.”
KAY: “Yeah. I was laughing, so I’m glad — I got lost in the whole health care debate too. At one point I was thinking do I not know my health care policy enough, if I don’t understand this, I’m covering this every day, what are the voters making of this? You’re right. Look, if they’re going to try to go high as a party in a sense these debates are certainly not the best opportunity to take on Barack Obama as you have been saying, Joe, over the last couple of days the most popular living Democrat at the moment and they don’t need to do that game of taking on each other. That’s why that second night in particular of the debates was so dissatisfying and why it makes the field look so weak. I struggled by the end of that three hour long second debate to see Joe Biden up against Donald Trump on a debate stage. I mean, Donald Trump will change the facts, ignore the facts, reverse himself. But he’ll do it with the phenomenal bluster and confidence the whole time through. And against that if Joe Biden with the nominee were to put in the performance he was looking tired and not in control. The only reason that Biden is ahead in the pack is because people think he can win that belief can disappear pretty fast. Once it does what are the Democrats left with?”

Chick-Fil-A Does not Bow to Social Pressure and Becomes Most Favored Restaurant Chain

The Chick-fil-A at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA. Screen grab via CFA.

One company that does not pay heed to the outrage mob benefits as a result.

It has been a constant item in the news that the fast-food chain Chick-Fil-A is targeted as a hate-filled and intolerant business entity. Activist groups have attempted to stage boycotts on the regular, and their childish bleating has even led to politically liberal municipalities to work against allowing the company to perform basic commercial practice in their areas. It is all part of our new social reality of permissive intolerance made in the name of tolerance.

To its credit the company has been mostly muted in these social skirmishes — and also to its benefit. While the chicken purveyor has been routinely demonized in the press it has remained calmly steadfast in its mission statement, and as a result it has only grown in response. The past few years has seen the chain rise among the most successful franchises in the country, and now it has achieved a new accomplishment — Chick-Fil-A has been voted the country’s favorite fast-food restaurant.

As measured by Market Force, which conducts surveys of diners on a variety of metrics, the chicken chain came in ahead of the 2018 most-favored chain, In-And-Out Burger. This has to be a blow to the various leftist activist groups and other social cranks who have taken up the mantle in recent years of making products political, and food racist. (Judd Legum has made this his career’s sole intent.)

It is difficult to remember back to an era when our commercial buying interests were not fraught with all manner of social implication. These days we accept the infinitely fatiguing reality that we are in a state of perpetual hectoring about our marketplaces. On the one hand there is a nobility to voting with your wallet. We have that freedom in the free market, to elect which products we prefer to purchase with our private funds. But the social scolds have taken it to all new levels of outlandish outrage.

These days we are badgered as to which products support nefarious politicians, who the CEOs are who donate to improper organizations, or what brands advertise on the wrong news channel. “If you buy your son a Louisville Slugger you support those who club baby harp seals!!!” It gets so bad that you have to be aware of not only which product you buy, but that the approved item is sold by the approved store. Sure, that soda may have proceeds that go to Planned Parenthood, but if it was bought at a Wal-Mart you are still an evil conservative hate-monger!

This spending dictate recently reached an asinine level when there was a call for people to start boycotting Home Depot because one of its founders donates to Donald Trump. The claim was buying a hammer puts money in Trump’s pocket, so we should shop at Lowes instead. Three problems with this effort:
1) The founder had retired from Home Depot over 15 years ago.
2) Another founder was a frequent donor to the Democrats
3) Lowes is a primary donor to GOP candidates.

While Chick-Fil-A has been featured frequently in news cycles it differs from many other companies that have been connected to social activist prolix. Unlike examples such as Target Stores (gendered bathrooms), Dick’s Sporting Goods (gun control), or Gillette Razors (toxic males), the chicken chain has not inserted itself into the social discourse; it has always been dragged into the debate. Each of those above companies boldly made an announced virtue stance, and each ended up suffering commercially as a result.

Meanwhile Chick-Fil-A quietly conducted its business, and look at the rewards it is reaping. Market data shows that the chain is taking in more than double the revenue than McDonald’s restaurants — and that is while famously operating with one fewer business day per week. (Some estimates have shown that by closing on Sundays the company is losing out on roughly $1 billion in additional sales annually.)

It seems the outrage culture that draws so much attention actually carries little influence. Not only do their calls for incensed boycotts mostly fail to have an impact, but companies which cater to the crank-set also suffer. Turns out the blowhards do not easily part with cash. Soon enough the corporate suits may start to realize the impotence these activists actually possess.
