Mike Huckabee: Pelosi a ‘capable’ leader but not used to ‘mutiny’ in her ranks

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is an experienced Democratic lawmaker but is not accustomed to stark disagreements within her caucus, according to former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

The 17-term legislator’s caucus has many moderate and center-left Democrats, but the progressive wing has become more vocal in recent months, Huckabee said Friday on “Hannity.”

“I’ve got a lot of respect for Nancy Pelosi — may not agree with her, hope she is not the speaker next time — but she is a very capable, experienced, and very able legislator. … But this is something she’s not used to, which is mutiny within her own ranks,” he said

FLASHBACK: HOUSE VOTES TO KILL REP. AL GREEN’S RESOLUTION TO IMPEACH TRUMP

In regard to calls for impeaching President Trump, Huckabee said Pelosi is effectively, “trying to ride both sides of the see-saw, which is impossible.”

While the more moderate wing of the party is reticent to begin impeachment proceedings, House Democrats such as Al Green of Texas, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan have made statements in support of the move.

Green, of Houston, has taken the additional step of introducing articles of impeachment multiple times.

A total of 137 Democrats voted in favor of tabling Green’s latest impeachment resolution — compared to just 95 who voted against shelving it. Only one lawmaker, Rep. Peter DeFazio, D-Ore., voted present.

“She’s got all of these very radical leftist loons in her party that are taking the party away from her,” Huckabee told guest host Jason Chaffetz on Friday. “But, she’s also got reasonable Democrats across the country who will never go that far.

“If the party nominates somebody as far left as most of the people on that stage — if they continue to let people like Ocasio-Cortez be the voice of the party … I think then the Democrats have got a real problem on her hands.”

Fox News’ Andrew O’Reilly contributed to this report.

Lara Trump lashes out after CNN host accuses her of ‘lying’ about rally crowd’s ‘Send her back!’ chant

Lara Trump fired back Saturday against critics who’ve asserted that the “Send her back!” chant at President Trump’s recent rally in North Carolina was planned, instead of a spontaneous crowd response.

“Anyone insinuating that there was some premeditated plan to orchestrate the ‘send her back’ chant is obviously desperate to continue pushing a biased, racially-charged narrative,” the president’s daughter-in-law wrote on Twitter on Saturday.

“Anyone insinuating that there was some premeditated plan to orchestrate the ‘send her back’ chant is obviously desperate to continue pushing a biased, racially-charged narrative.”

— Lara Trump

She added the hashtag, #FakeNews.

Lara Trump’s message was in response to a Saturday article in the Washington Examiner that reported CNN’s Anderson Cooper had criticized her on Friday’s edition of his nightly program, “Anderson Cooper 360.”

TRUMP SLAMS PROGRESSIVE CONGRESSWOMEN AT FIERY ‘MAGA’ RALLY IN NORTH CAROLINA

“She’s just friggin’ lying,” Cooper said at one point, accusing the wife of Eric Trump of misrepresenting the North Carolina situation during her interview earlier Friday on Fox Business, the Examiner reported.

“She’s just friggin’ lying.”

— CNN’s Anderson Cooper

Lara Trump had said that the “send her back” chant – which the crowd directed at Somali-born U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn. – was not prompted and that President Trump did not join in.

Lara Trump took issue with some remarks that CNN’s Anderson Cooper made Friday, according to a report.

“It wasn’t the whole crowd,” she added. “It was just a couple of people right there in the front, but [the president] didn’t say it.”

But Cooper argued that Lara Trump had “primed” the crowd during her warm-up speech prior to the president’s appearance Wednesday in Greenville, N.C., the Examiner reported.

“If you don’t love our country, the president said it, ‘You can leave,’ right?” Lara Trump is heard saying in a video clip before the president took the stage.

But Lara Trump was not shown coaching the crowd to chant, “Send her back!” — contrary to what Cooper appeared to be suggesting.

Following Wednesday’s rally, critics of President Trump latched onto the chant to advance their argument that some Twitter messages from the president earlier in the week – targeting Omar and other far-left House Democrats known as “The Squad” – were racist.

But the president pushed back against the racism argument, saying he was merely opposing what he viewed as the Democrats’ negative attitudes toward America – and that his tweets had nothing to do with race.

“I was not happy with it, I disagree with it,” President Trump said Thursday, referring to the rally crowd’s “Send her back!” chant. “But again, I didn’t say that, they did.”

‘The View’ co-host awkwardly confuses John Hickenlooper with Jay Inslee during interview

Things took an awkward turn on the “The View” Friday when a host confused former Gov. John Hickenlooper, D-Colo, with fellow 2020 presidential candidate, Gov. Jay Inslee, D-Wash.

Guest co-host Ana Navarro made the embarrassing blunder when she quizzed Hickenlooper on a memorable moment from the first round of debates that the candidate himself did not recall — for good reason.

“I remember from the first debate Amy Klobuchar slapped you down pretty hard when you said that line, that you were the only one that had done something on — on, you know, abortion rights and she said there are three women on the stage,” Navarro said to Hickenlooper.

“What are you going to do to distinguish yourself? How do you distinguish yourself in such a field?”

MEGHAN MCCAIN, JOY BEHAR CLASH OVER DEMS’ 2020 PROSPECTS

The 2020 hopeful then corrected Navarro, telling her “that wasn’t to me” and later saying he was on the other debate night. The hosts then determined that it was Inslee who boasted his record on abortion rights.

“All white people look alike, apparently,” Joy Behar quipped.

Navarro, who is also a CNN commentator, blasted Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla, for calling out “self-righteous hypocrites” amid the uproar of President Trump’s attacks on the Democratic “Squad.”

Michelle Obama seemingly swipes at Trump amid ‘send her back’ controversy

Former First Lady Michelle Obama has seemingly taken a shot at President Trump amid his ongoing feud with four progressive congresswomen, saying “there’s a place” for natural-born citizens and refugees alike.

Tensions escalated this week when the president blasted the Democratic “squad,” Reps Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., and Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., suggesting on Twitter that they “go back” to the countries they came. All four women are U.S. citizens, with Omar being the only one who was born outside of the U.S.

After exchanging several barbs during the week, Trump continued his attacks during Wednesday’s rally, during which a “send her back” chant aimed at Omar broke out from his supporters.

On Friday, the former first lady tweeted what seemed to be a rebuke of the remarks — while stopping short of mentioning the president directly.

MICHELLE OBAMA: THE NIGHT BEFORE TRUMP’S INAUGURATION WAS ‘VERY EMOTIONAL’

“What truly makes our country great is its diversity,” Mrs. Obama tweeted. “I’ve seen that beauty in so many ways over the years. Whether we are born here or seek refuge here, there’s a place for us all. We must remember it’s not my America or your America. It’s our America.”

Her husband, former President Barack Obama, has not commented in on the feud.

While the Obamas have largely avoided weighing in on political matters since leaving the White House, Friday’s comments are not the first time the former first lady has seemingly tweaked Trump.

“The leader of the free world with a tweet can start a war, can crush an economy, can change the future of our children,” she told Gayle King of CBS News at the Essence Festival in New Orleans earlier this month.

She added the next president needs to have “deep seriousness and focus” and operate “with a clear base of facts and ideas.” She also said she thinks her husband sometimes made the presidency look easy.

“I guess it’s kind of like if the black guy can do it, anybody can do it — and that’s not true. It’s a hard job.”

Al Roker apologizes for Hurricane Michael comment: ‘I misspoke’

Al Roker is apologizing for a recent comment he made about Hurricane Michael, which devastated the Florida Panhandle last fall.

The “Today” weather anchor was on-air speaking about Tropical Storm Barry‘s estimated rainfall and wind gusts in Lousianna, Mississippi and other nearby states on Friday when he compared it to Hurricane Michael — a Category 5 storm that caused a number of fatalities. Roker referred to Michael as a “Category 3 or 4 storm.”

He described Barry as “a massive storm in size, 800 miles across, almost across the entire Gulf Coast.”

“In comparison, Hurricane Michael .. was a Category 3 or 4 storm, even almost reaching a 5, and that caused all that damage.”

AUTHORITIES: HURRICANE MICHAEL KILLED AT LEAST 43 IN FLORIDA

Roker then shared his coverage on Facebook, where people immediately demanded an apology over his comment, which they felt diminished the impacts of Michael.

Wrote one person: “‘Do not pay attention to category’… those words proceeding you saying Michael was a 3 or 4… maybe 5. Michael was a 5. Not a maybe 5. While we in the Panhandle are definitely all feeling and praying for the area to be impacted by TS Barry, we don’t appreciate the brush off of just how bad Hurricane Michael was. You owe this area a public apology for the slap in the face you just gave us.”

Another individual said: “You owe everyone here in the Florida Panhandle an apology for downplaying Hurricane Michael! Nine months later and there’s still devastation!”

Then there was this: “Al Roker spend about 1 hour of your day today to educate yourself on Hurricane Michael (Cat 5). View the videos and stories of devastation. For you to come across as to downplay Michael as a Cat 3 maybe a 4 was truly shocking. Our hearts understand and aches for Louisiana. Prayers.”

HURRICANE MICHAEL GETS AN UPGRADE TO RARE CATEGORY 5 STATUS

In response, Roker tweeted an apology one day later on Twitter, admitting that he “misspoke.”

“Yes. Michael was Cat. 5 and I misspoke during yesterday’s broadcast during live TV. I covered it and came down to help bring aid to folks and first responders after. So I apologize for the mistake,” he wrote.

Michael, a rare Category 5 hurricane, was the first to strike the contiguous U.S. since Andrew in 1992.

Broadway legend accused of homophobia for comment directed at Lindsey Graham

Broadway legend Patti LuPone is under fire for a shocking personal attack on Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-SC.

Graham has defended the president in recent days amid the ongoing controversy around his inflammatory comments toward four freshman Democratic congresswomen, as well as a controversial chant at one of his rallies on Wednesday night.

LuPone started her attacking by criticizing Graham for supporting the president before things took an ugly turn and she went after the Republican “on a personal note.”

TRUMP DISTANCES HIMSELF FROM ‘SEND HER BACK’ CHANT: ‘I DISAGREE WITH IT’

“Lindsey Graham you are a disgrace,” LuPone tweeted. “On a personal note, why don’t you just bite the bullet and come out. You might just come to your senses.”

That sparked plenty of criticism on social media of the Tony-winning actress.

“Ahhh a good old fashioned homophobic joke from an icon in the gay community,” journalist Yashar Ali reacted.

This isn’t the first time an entertainer attacked Graham in such a fashion. Liberal comedian Chelsea Handler wrote a sexually-explicit tweet suggesting that Graham was being blackmailed by the Trump administration over his sexuality.

LuPone also blasted Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., for blocking a vote on the 9/11 victim compensation reauthorization bill.

“Don’t set foot in NYC. You too are a National disgrace. Maybe your neighbor had a point?” LuPone wrote, eluding to the 2017 assault Paul suffered by his neighbor.

A spokesperson for Paul earlier released a statement that read: “Senator Paul is not blocking anything,” it read. “He is simply seeking to pay for it. As with any bill, Senator Paul always believes it needs to be paid for. Senator Paul is simply offering an amendment, which other senators support, to pay for this legislation.”

Joy Behar asks why Trump can’t be charged with ‘hate speech’ after rally

“The View” host Joy Behar took her anti-Trump talk to another level on Thursday, posing the possibility of the president being charged with hate speech in the wake of Wednesday’s controversial rally.

Behar kicked off the comments by saying she does not understand how President Trump could “get away with” attacking freshmen congresswomen the way he had, before launching into the next part of her diatribe.

“Why can’t he be brought up on charges of hate speech?” Behar asked. She then wondered why the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which has repeatedly sued Trump’s administration, hadn’t sued the president over hate speech.

Her comments came after co-host Whoopi Goldberg indicated Trump’s remarks had the potential to create violence against women in the country.

AOC, ILHAN OMAR ACCUSE TRUMP OF ‘SPEWING FASCIST IDEOLOGY’ AFTER RALLY

“He doesn’t acknowledge the fact that what he’s doing is possibly inciting violence towards these women” as well as those who express dissent, Goldberg asserted. “This involves every female in this country.”

Goldberg acknowledged, however, that Trump had the right to make his comments but she and other “View’ hosts would likely face different treatment if they made similar statements.

Their discussion came after a controversial rally in which Trump denounced Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., in front of an audience in North Carolina. “The View” particularly appeared to take issue with Trump’s response to an audience chant, as well as the chant itself, calling for him to send the Minnesota congresswoman back to her native country of Somalia.

Trump later distanced himself from the chant, saying that he disagreed with it. During Thursday’s “View,” co-host Meghan McCain targeted Trump’s familyIvanka Trump and Jared Kushner — for their apparent reluctance to criticize the rally.

“The Trump administration — all of you — Ivanka, Jared, because you’re around my age range, where are you in this?” she asked.
