Huckabee on Iran tanker attacks: ‘Ridiculous’ to believe Iran ‘had nothing to do with it’

It was absurd for the Iranian government to deny involvement in attacks on oil tankers in the Middle East, according to Mike Huckabee.

Videotape appearing to show people removing a mine from one of the damaged tankers is a clear example of that, Huckabee said Friday on “The Story.”

“It’s ridiculous for them to claim they had nothing to do with it. It’s like who are you going to believe – Iran or your lying eyes? There is the tape. It’s clear what they’re doing,” the former Arkansas governor claimed.

IRAN RESPONSIBLE FOR ‘BLATANT ASSAULT’ ON OIL TANKERS IN GULF OF OMAN, MIKE POMPEO SAYS

“This is a region and country and regime that has been so dishonest and so brutal, not only to their enemies like Israel and the rest of the world, but also to their own people.”

Huckabee considered possible reasons for Iran’s alleged actions.

“I cannot even begin to imagine,” he said, “unless they are poking at the bear just to see what the United States and other countries will do.”

The onetime 2016 presidential candidate praised President Trump for exercising restraint in reaction to the attacks in the Gulf of Oman.

“I think the president is playing this right. He is not rushing into military action, which would be a huge mistake. He’s being very careful and calculating. But I think he is also being very clear that this kind of behavior is not something that the rest of the world – not just the U.S. – is going to sit back and tolerate.”

In a news conference Thursday afternoon, Secretary of State Pompeo blamed Iran for the attacks as well.

“This assessment is based on intelligence, the weapons used, the level of expertise needed to execute the operation, recent similar Iranian attacks on shipping, and the fact that no proxy group operating in the area has the resources and proficiency to act with such a high degree of sophistication.,” he said.

Iran has denied it played any role in the attacks. The Iranian mission to the United Nations accused the United States and its Gulf allies of warmongering in a statement Thursday evening: Iran “categorically rejects the U.S. unfounded claim with regard to 13 June oil tanker incidents and condemns it in the strongest possible terms.”

Rep. Will Hurd disinvited to cybersecurity conference after voting record on women’s issues sparks outrage

Rep. Will Hurd, R-Tex, will no longer be speaking at cyber security conference after critics expressed outrage over his voting record on women’s issues.

Hurd, a former undercover CIA officer and an advocate for cybersecurity on Capitol Hill, was invited to speak at Black Hat, one of biggest cyber security conferences in the country, being held in Las Vegas in August. But Tech Crunch security editor Zach Whittaker highlighted on Thursday what he described was Hurd’s “terrible voting record on women’s rights.” It includes voting against funding for Planned Parenthood, programs supporting women in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) fields, and his support on restricting late-term abortions.

Black Hat initially defended its decision to invite Hurd, saying in a statement “Hurd has a strong background in computer science and information security and has served as an advocate for specific cybersecurity initiatives in Congress,” adding that he will offer a “unique perspective” at the conference.

That did not, however, halt the uproar from the cybersecurity community, with some threatening to pull their involvement in the conference.

On Friday, Black Hat reversed its decision, saying they “misjudged the separation of technology and politics.”

“Black Hat has chosen to remove U.S. Representative Will Hurd as our 2019 Black Hat USA Keynote. We misjudged the separation of technology and politics,” Black Hat told Tech Crunch. “We will continue to focus on technology and research, however we recognize that Black Hat USA is not the appropriate platform for the polarizing political debate resulting from our choice of speaker,”

Black Hat vowed that the conference is “still fully dedicated to providing an inclusive environment and apologize that this decision did not reflect that sentiment.”

Rep. Hurd’s office did not immediately respond to Fox News for comment.

Some in media sound alarm on Trump not yet endorsing Pence in 2024

Several members of the media believe there’s “trouble in paradise” between President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence after Trump refrained from endorsing his running mate in 2024 during an appearance on Fox.

At the same time, former President Obama has so far failed to endorse his Vice President, Joe Biden, who is currently running for president.

During an interview on “Fox & Friends” Friday morning, Trump was asked if Pence would receive an “automatic endorsement” if he ran in 2024.

“Look, I love Mike, we’re running again, but you’re talking about a long time, so you can’t put me in that position,” Trump chuckled. “But I certainly would give it very strong consideration. He’s a very, very outstanding person.”

Pence has yet to weigh in on a potential presidential bid, but Trump’s remarks sparked quite a reaction from the media. The Daily Beast asked “Trouble in paradise?” in its headline. Politico accused the president of “sidestepping” the question. The Hill’s report invoked a story from The Atlantic that the president has “ditched” one-on-one meetings with Pence, casting some doubt on their relationship.

Washington Post White House reporter Ashley Parker tweeted her reaction with a “yikes.”

NBC reporter Jonthan Allen declared that Trump not endorsing Pence in a hypothetical race five years from now is “a big deal.”

“He’s telling the country that Pence is the next best person to be president as his running mate, but not really?” Allen tweeted.

Several folks on social media dismissed what some considered to be a controversy, insisting it’s “not newsworthy.”

‘Morning Joe’ analyzes whether Trump is ‘truly evil,’ Deutsch says comments on political dirt ‘demented’

MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Friday moved past merely bashing President Trump and started analyzing just how bad he has been.

Host Joe Scarborough introduced a discussion about whether Trump was evil or just destructive. He asked guest Donny Deutsch whether a “truly evil” president would be as open with the media as Trump has been.

His comments came after the president told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that he would be willing to listen if a foreign government possessed dirt on a political opponent, potentially without reporting it to the FBI.

“Wouldn’t a truly evil guy have said to George Stephanopoulos, ‘of course I would report it. I would report it instantly, in fact, do you know what, I’ve hired three lawyers and they’re going to be scanning throughout the entire government. We’re going to have the toughest task force on foreign interference ever’ while he’s actually calling China and calling Russia?” Scarborough asked.

Deutsch chimed in, calling Trump “demented” since he didn’t see anything wrong with obtaining foreign opposition research. “You could almost say is he evil or is there just no moral compass?” Deutsch asked.

TRUMP PRESSED BY STEPHANOPOULOS ON MCGAHN’S TESTIMONY TO MUELLER: ‘GEORGE, YOU’RE BEING A LITTLE WISE GUY’

Co-host Mika Brzezinski pushed back on the idea that she saw Trump as “evil.”

“My reaction to what happened the other night when he said that to George Stephanopoulos was this is horrendous, horrendous for our democracy. He is a national security threat and what he does is not stupidity, what he does is not evil … what he does is he manipulates the truth,” she said.

“He desensitizes the American public and the world to what is right and wrong and does things in plain sight and the results are evil.” She added that Trump was engaging in the type of slow degradation of values that often preceded dictatorships.

Brzezinski, on Thursday, shamed Republicans for not standing up to Trump after his comments to Stephanopoulos. “Republicans are being #cowards and #enablers. This president is a national security threat. Get a backbone,” she tweeted.

In an interview on “Fox & Friends” Friday, the president sought to clarify the controversial comments, while arguing the heat should really be on Democrats for the alleged spying on his 2016 campaign. He seemed to say he’d report it to the FBI, at least if he sensed something was wrong.

“If I thought anything was incorrect or badly stated, I’d report it to the attorney general, the FBI, I’d report it to law enforcement absolutely,” he said.

President Trump provided liberal news outlets with a new reason to go after him when he answered a hypothetical question during an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos that went public Wednesday.

Trump said he would be willing to listen to foreign governments if they approached him with information on a political rival. CNN and MSNBC went all in, condemning Trump’s comment for much of the news cycle following video of his remark being released.

CNN HOST SAYS TRUMP ACTING LIKE ‘TODDLER’ AFTER ‘UN-AMERICAN’ COMMENTS ABOUT OPPOSITION RESEARCH

During CNN and MSNBC’s primetime lineups from 8-11 p.m. ET, the liberal networks spent 72 percent of their time discussing Trump’s comment on Wednesday, according to a study by the Media Research Center.

The study indicated that a massive 148 minutes and 33 seconds combined was spent condemning the president’s comment while Hillary Clinton’s campaign use of the notorious Russian dossier was largely ignored despite obvious comparisons.

“During their almost two hours and 30 minutes of prime time coverage, or hair-on-fire panic, neither CNN nor MSNBC cared to mention that that’s exactly what the Clinton campaign did in 2016 with the now-infamous dossier,” NewsBusters’ Nicholas Fondacaro and Curtis Houck wrote in their analysis of the study.

TRUMP SAYS HE WOULD ‘WANT TO HEAR’ DIRT ON 2020 RIVALS FROM FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS, SUGGESTS HE WOULDN’T CONTACT FBI

CNN spent 72 percent of its primetime coverage on Wednesday discussing Trump’s comment and the ratings-challenged network “basically [repeated] the same thing over and over,” Fondacaro and Houck wrote.

When CNN wasn’t busy hyperventilating over Trump’s comment, it spent significant time allowing 2020 Democratic hopeful Bernie Sanders to cheerlead the benefits of democratic socialism, according to the study.

“CNN’s coverage of Trump’s interview grew more encompassing as the night dragged on. ‘AC360’ had 24 minutes and 11 seconds, ‘Cuomo Prime Time’ went with 27 minutes and 38 seconds, and ‘CNN Tonight’ topped off at 31 minutes and 58 seconds,” Fondacaro and Houck wrote.

MSNBC’s anti-Trump programming mirrored CNN’s with the network also spending 72 percent of its primetime coverage on the president’s comment.

“The worst offender in this three-hour block was ‘The Last Word,’ which spent a whopping 45 minutes and 38 seconds melting down over the President’s comments versus a mere two minutes and 45 seconds on other matters,” Fondacaro and Houck wrote.

Using dirt from foreign governments is obviously a sensitive subject in political circles, and the role of Donald Trump Jr. in organizing a 2016 meeting with a Russian lawyer offering negative information on Hillary Clinton was a focus of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe of Russian meddling in the last presidential campaign.

CNN has seen its ratings suffer amid its anti-Trump programming strategy, while MSNBC spent much of the past two years hyping the possibility that Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia. Mueller documented Russian efforts to boost Trump’s campaign and undermine Clinton’s but it did not establish a criminal conspiracy or find collusion. Many industry insiders feel that CNN and MSNBC were too focused on the collusion theory.

“There’s a whole wide world of news to share with the viewers, but these two cable networks decided to dedicate a vast majority of their prime time programming venting about one story. Talk about falling down on their jobs to inform the public,” Fondacaro and Houck added.

Teen Vogue instructs minors how to get abortion without parental consent: ‘It can be tricky’

Parents are blasting Teen Vogue for a recent “sexual health and identity” column that instructs a pregnant minor on how to end a pregnancy without telling her parents because “having access to abortion should be your right, regardless of your parents’ beliefs.”

“It can be tricky,” Nona Willis Aronowitz writes in a “How to Get an Abortion If You’re a Teen” article advising a 16-year-old reader with “anti-choice” parents how to skirt the legal system if parental consent laws are in that state to terminate a pregnancy.

TEXAS BORDER TOWN DECLARES ITSELF SANCTUARY CITY FOR THE UNBORN: ‘HERE WE WILL NO LONGER MURDER OUR BABIES’

Elizabeth Johnston, the conservative “Activist Mommy” who made headlines for a campaign targeting the teen magazine that is no longer in print for an “anal sex how-to column,” is once again going after the company for being a “disgusting child sex guide.”

“Unborn children have no rights, but teenage children should have all rights to bodily autonomy, including consent to dangerous, irreversible procedures like abortion without their parents’ involvement?” Johnston wrote on her blog. “It is truly tragic that she believes some columnist for a children’s sex manual could provide her better counsel and support than her own parents.”

Aronowitz, who has participated in the “Shout your abortion” campaign, shared about an experience she had with her boyfriend at 15 when a condom had ripped and her mom helped her get Plan B.

“But if teenage me had a hard time broaching the subject of a hypothetical pregnancy with my pro-choice parents, I can only imagine how overwhelming it might feel to announce an actual pregnancy, much less a desire to get an abortion — in any circumstance, really, but especially to parents who are against it, and especially during a time in American history when the bodily autonomy of people with uteruses is under serious threat,” she wrote, adding “it’s only logical that if teens are mature enough to become parents, they are mature enough to decide whether or not they want to give birth.”

Teen Vogue says if you’re in a state that doesn’t require parental consent “you’re all set,” but in cases where it might, “there are ways to sidestep those rules depending on what state you’re in.”

She adds “supposedly anti-abortion Americans often get abortions. They often help their children procure abortions. You know those activists who stand outside clinics holding signs adorned with Bible verses and pictures of fetuses? Even they sometimes get abortions.”

MICHIGAN HOTEL OFFERS FREE LODGING TO THOSE SEEKING ABORTIONS

Online, users pointed out the article failed to mention the women who regret abortion from their teenage years and struggle with post-abortive trauma, including suicidal thoughts.

“Teen Vogue seems very intent on teaching girls to be used and abused by men,” one girl wrote.

A mom added: “This is terrible. It’s hard enough to be a parent in our current society. Now we have magazines encouraging teens to lie and break their parent’s trust?”

In May, Aronowitz advised teens on when it’s “safe” to send nude photos, and previously, Johnston and Rev. Franklin Graham have called upon parents not to let this “kind of trash be pawned off on our children.”

Graham added: “Teen Vogue is now in the category of a porn magazine and should be regulated as such.”

President Trump dismissed Joe Biden’s chances of becoming president in 2020, knocking the former vice president’s “mental capacity” and claiming Biden “doesn’t have what it takes.”

Speaking in a live “Fox & Friends” phone interview Friday, Trump claimed not to be concerned about taking on Biden next year.

Steve Doocy asked the president what he meant when he said Biden “doesn’t have what it takes.”

“It means mental capacity, it means a lot of different things. He never did have what it takes,” said Trump, joking that he used to refer to Biden as “one percent Joe” for his prior failed presidential runs.

Life, Liberty & Levin” host Mark Levin unloaded on the media Thursday while addressing the outrage over President Trump’s comments Wednesday that he would listen to information from a foreign government on a political rival.

“Have you ever seen a dumber media in your life? I mean truly, a dumber media,” Levin said on “Hannity.”

TRUMP SAYS HE WOULD ‘WANT TO HEAR’ DIRT ON 2020 RIVALS FROM FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS

“How would the president even know to turn something over to the FBI unless he accepted it and then read it? Accepted it and listened to it … and that is basically what he said.”

Democrats have been outraged by the president’s comments made in an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos.

“I think I’d want to hear it. … I think you might want to listen. There isn’t anything wrong with listening,” Trump said.

Levin then blasted the media, saying they have “destroyed freedom of the press” and accused them of protecting the left.

“But for the praetorian guard media that protects the left, that protects big government, big centralized government, the American people can’t stand you and I’m going to tell you why. You are destroying freedom of the press. You make a mockery of yourselves. Every time Donald Trump says something, you say it’s the end of the world. We’ve never seen anything like it,” Levin said.

Levin called the media out touch with the country.

“You operate in a bubble in Washington, you operate in a bubble in New York. You have no comprehension of what is going on in the country,” Levin said.

The Fox News host also blasted the media’s coverage of Iran and its alleged attacks on two oil tankers that were damaged in the Gulf of Oman early Thursday.

“The Iranians are taking out oil tankers. Not ours, but others. The Iranians are looking for war and what do we hear from the Code Pink left in the media? That it’s John Bolton’s fault! And that it’s the secretary of state’s fault! That it is the president of the United States’ fault! You’re pathetic, it’s a joke,” Levin railed.

Hannity: Trump playing Democrats and the media ‘like a flute’

Fox News host Sean Hannity on Thursday reiterated his belief that President Trump purposely “played” the media by saying he would listen to a foreign government who has intelligence on a political rival.

“Of course, listening to foreign research or any ‘opp’ research, or any reporting, anything elicit and saying you would take it to the FBI, that would not be a crime,” the host said on “Hannity.”

“I wonder if he knew exactly what he was doing, the exact way he was asked that question and the answer he gave because time after time, he knows the media bubble and fizz like Alka-Seltzer in water and he is playing them like a flute.”

Hannity was referring to comments that Trump made during an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos in the Oval Office. The host also shared his theory on why the president’s critics are so easily manipulated.

“Here’s the point, and the people you just saw, as we predicted, so blinded in their hatred for President Trump, they don’t even realize they were set up like bowling pins, showing their ridiculous hypocrisy. Because they’re the very same people smearing the president hour after hour,” Hannity said.

Hannity continued to press critics who believe Hillary Clinton’s alleged actions were fine but Trump’s are supposedly illegal.

“The same ones that ignored, let’s see, foreign election interference that was bought and paid for by Hillary Clinton and the DNC,” Hannity said.

“It’s like I’m the only person who cares about Bernie Sanders. No outrage by any of these people. She bought it, she sought it, she paid for it, they spread it, they tried to use it to impact the election.”
