Jesse Watters: Pelosi mishandling AOC and other ‘bomb throwers’ by having ‘public spats’

Is House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., mishandling Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and her fellow freshman cohorts?

Fox News’ Jesse Watters said Pelosi is approaching the situation in the wrong manner, comparing it to former House Speaker John Boehner’s handling of the Tea Party.

“She has four bomb throwers. He had dozens of Tea Party members starting in 2010. He had them for many, many years. It made his life hell over spending and the debt ceiling. And he did his best to keep the beef behind closed doors, right,” Watters said Monday on “The Five.”

“Nancy seems to keep having these public spats and she’s only got four little bomb throwers and it has only been four months. And she’s already had fights about anti-Semitism, impeachment, progressivism and now the border funding thing… the Green New Deal.”

AOC FIRES BACK AFTER PELOSI BLASTS FAR-LEFT DEMS’ ‘TWITTER WORLD’

In a New York Times piece published Saturday, Pelosi dismissed Ocasio-Cortez three other progressive congresswomen saying they are just “four people.”

“All these people have their public whatever and their Twitter world,” Pelosi said of Reps. Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., and Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., making light of their presence on social media.

Watters advised Pelosi to ignore the four congresswomen and to not to underestimate their social media influence.

“She would just be much better served if she would let her whip team handle the drama and ignore them and now she’s nicknamed them ‘the squad.’ She’s elevating them in the media and I think this is wrong,” Watters said.

“You shouldn’t diminish the power of social media. She doesn’t dial for dollars. [Ocasio-Cortez] can leverage that platform, very powerful and Nancy doesn’t understand that and I think she should soon.”

Nancy Pelosi accuses Trump admin of using citizenship census question to ‘Make America White Again’

Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif, slammed the Trump adminisration for its ongoing efforts to include a citizenship question in the 2020 U.S. Census, suggesting there’s a racial component by invoking President Trump‘s 2016 campaign motto.

During Monday’s press conference on election security, Pelosi called President Trump’s battle over the census “disgraceful,” pointing to his Supreme Court setback that rejected the administration’s argument for having a question about citizenship in the census.

“This is about keeping — –you know, ‘Make America’- his hat? Make America White Again,” she continued. “They want to make sure that people — –certain people are counted. It’s really disgraceful and it’s not what our Founders had in mind.”

She later continued, “What is America? America is our people, the beautiful diversity of America and they denigrate newcomers to our country. They dishonor the Constitution, they degrade the environment, the land, they denigrate the diversity that is the beauty of the mix of America, and they undermine our values as a country- who we are as a country.”

The Department of Justice announced on Sunday that it was seeking a new legal time to continue to fight the pushback against the citizenship question in the courts. Attorney General William Barr told reporters the DOJ will reveal “in the next day or two” how they will proceed.

Critics of the citizenship question say the Trump administration is using it to target illegal immigrants living in the United States.

Rush Limbaugh: ‘European elites’ threatened by ‘Make America Great Again’

Westlake Legal Group Trump-Limbaugh_AP-RL Rush Limbaugh: 'European elites' threatened by 'Make America Great Again' Victor Garcia fox-news/travel/regions/europe fox-news/person/donald-trump fox-news/entertainment/media fox news fnc/politics fnc def8fe2e-dacf-55cc-9311-e00895423015 article

The “European elites” are threatened by President Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ mantra because they view it as a threat to their “world order,” conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh said Monday on his radio show.

“They are threatened by the concept of America being great because to them it means nationalism. It means white supremacy, which is a big crock and hoax. And it means America as all alone and in it for itself and nobody else,” Limbaugh said.

“So you boil it all down, what it really means, when they hear Trump talk about Make America Great Again, it’s like their bank is shutting down. It’s always all about money. And these people are afraid the great American federal reserving is shutting down, the bank is shutting down, Trump’s gonna choke off payments, Trump is gonna start making ’em pay their dues to NATO and this kind of thing. It’s gonna cost them money.”

Limbaugh was addressing leaked memos by U.K. Ambassador Kim Darroch who described the Trump administration as “diplomatically clumsy and inept” and said he doubted it would become “substantially more normal.”

WATCH: TRUMP SAYS U.S. ‘NOT BIG FANS’ OF DARROCH

The memos were a part of several documents published by the Mail on Sunday in which Darroch apparently made many negative statements about the Trump administration.

Limbaugh criticized Darroch’s comments arguing that European skeptics of Trump who feel he will hurt them on issues such as trade are wrong.

“So this guy starts writing his memos on the basis that Trump poses a threat to this established order, this America first administration could damage world trade. No. It’s gonna fix it,” Limbaugh said.

The radio host believes that Trump’s European critics have reversed the point of ‘Make America Great Again.’

“The idea of an American which is the solution to the world’s problems, getting better, getting stronger, the idea that that threatens supposed small D democrats, how in the world can that possibly be? We do not conquer. We do not take. We do not steal. We do not move in on other countries and conquer them. We liberate people. It’s the exact opposite of this paranoia,” Limbaugh said.

White House defends ‘lawful’ citizenship question on census: ‘Have a right to know who’s in this country’

Westlake Legal Group Hogan-Gidley_Fox-AP White House defends 'lawful' citizenship question on census: 'Have a right to know who's in this country' Nick Givas fox-news/topic/fox-news-flash fox-news/person/donald-trump fox-news/entertainment/media fox news fnc/politics fnc article 7ae32e36-2ef3-5ef9-a73c-19226a61acf7

Deputy White House Press Secretary Hogan Gidley defended the Trump administration’s desire to add a citizenship question to this year’s national census, saying Americans have a right to know who’s in the country illegally.

“I think the president understands what most Americans want. They have a right to know who’s in this country,” Gidley said on “Outnumbered Overtime” Monday.

“It’s kind of fascinating to me, were at a weird place in America when President Donald Trump is being asked why he wants this question included in the census, and Democrats aren’t being asked why they don’t. Everyone should want to know who’s in this country, and this is nothing new.”

Gidley claimed there has been a citizenship question on the census since the 1800s and said Trump will defend its lawful implementation with all the power at his disposal.

TRUMP FLOATS EXECUTIVE ORDER TO GET CITIZENSHIP QUESTION ON 2020 CENSUS

“A version of this question has been on the census since the 1800s. The Supreme Court, as Ken Cuccinelli just pointed out, said this question is completely lawful. We just didn’t like the way it was argued,” he said. “So the president’s going back and taking a look and saying, ‘I’m going to use everything in my legal authority to make sure this question is added to the census because the American people have a right to know just who’s in this country.'”

He then said the administration is currently fighting for the question’s inclusion and feels it is a logical step to help maintain and order accountability.

DOJ ANNOUNCES LEGAL TEAM SHIFT OVER CITIZENSHIP QUESTION ON 2020 CENSUS

“We are still fighting to get it on the census itself. But the fact is, he wants to know who’s in this country and this is a good way to do that,” he said. “There are all types of questions, as you know if you’ve ever filled out a census form… whether you have running water, how many people are in your domicile, all those types of things. So this is just a logical question to ask.”

Gidley claimed there are over one million illegal immigrants who’ve received deportation orders but are still living in the United States, and said it’s unfair of Democrats to treat them as if they were above the law.

“We have over a million people in this country who have received final deportation orders from a judge, meaning they’ve already had their day in court and they’re supposed to go home,” he said.

“That’s a set of rules and laws that should apply to everyone in this country. But American citizens get put in jail if they ignore a court order. But if you’re here illegally, I guess the law doesn’t apply to you. And Democrats are there saying, ‘We want to make illegal immigrants’ illegal behavior, legal.’ Now that makes no sense whatsoever. We’ve got to change the asylum laws and the credible fear claim that illegal aliens use when they come into this country has gone up 1700 percent. And that’s when they come up here and claim that they are fleeing their government oppression to get into our country.”

Rev. Al Sharpton said the current field of Democratic presidential candidates shouldn’t take the black vote for granted on “Morning Joe” Monday, claiming their allegiance is anything but assured.

Host Joe Scarborough asked Sharpton for his impression of the latest round of Democratic debates, and Sharpton said the candidates must work harder to win over the African-American community.

CNN’S DAVID GREGORY: RUSSIA MEDDLING HAPPENED ON BIDEN’S WATCH

“I think the novelty of just a black president is gone with the election and re-election of President Obama. You’re going to have to prove that you represent people’s interests, that you really understand their life and that you have a clear track record that makes people believe that you’ll do it,” Sharpton said.

He specifically highlighted former Vice President Joe Biden‘s comments about working with segregationist senators in the past and said the black community is still unsure of his sincerity when it comes to issues that are important to them.

Arizona Border Patrol chief on Democrats’ ‘misinformation’: The system is broken, we’ve been asking for help

An Arizona Border Patrol official said Monday he is trying his best to dispel the “absurd” claims from Democratic Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who have called U.S. detention facilities “concentration camps.”

Tlaib, D-Mich., was asked on ABC’s “This Week” whether she agrees with the original controversial claim of Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., about the facilities being used to house migrant families.

“Absolutely. It’s traumatic. … They are in a facility that is dehumanizing,” she responded, insisting the “concentration camp” label is accurate.

Roy Villareal, the Chief Border Patrol agent in the Tucson sector, reacted on “Fox & Friends” by saying that the system is “broken” and was not designed to handle families and unaccompanied children.

CNN’s FAREED ZAKARIA SAYS TRUMP WAS RIGHT ABOUT ASYLUM SYSTEM, ‘PAINS ME TO SAY’

“We’ve been asking for help. … We do our best but we have simply been overwhelmed. And to assert that there are concentration camps along the southwest border is absolutely absurd,” he said, adding that the men and women of the Border Patrol are doing the best they can to take care of people.

Villareal also explained why he felt compelled to make a video tour of a holding center and post it on the agency’s Twitter account.

He specifically pushed back on claims that migrants are being forced to drink toilet water and are not being given basic supplies like toothbrushes.

“It’s just to dispel a lot of misinformation out there,” he said, adding that new funding approved by Congress last week will help, but “more needs to be done.”

Country music star Lee Greenwood was especially proud to be an American over the holiday weekend, after working with a nonprofit to provide a specialized home for an Afghanistan war veteran who lost his legs overseas.

Greenwood teamed up with Helping a Hero to provide wounded warrior Matt Deatherage with a home equipped for him to live independently, and the two men appeared on “Fox & Friends” on Monday to talk about the new house and the organization that made it happen.

Deatherage said he was “amazed” at his new home, and the hard work done by Helping a Hero to aid dozens of veterans like himself with special needs.

“Each of these veterans have their own issues to deal with,” Deatherage said. “Not everyone fits into a specific mold.” The Army veteran was deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan in 2010, and stepped on a land mine in March 2011 which resulted in the loss of both of his legs. Although he wears state-of-the-art prosthetics, he developed diabetes after his injury and now uses a wheelchair the majority of the time.

His new home is equipped with ramps and wide doors to accommodate his chair, as well as an exterior pathway so that he can get around outdoors.

Greenwood, best known for his iconic song “God Bless the U.S.A.,” said he felt particularly called to get involved with Helping a Hero. The organization has provided over 100 homes to veterans in 22 states, the singer said.

CNN does ‘disservice to voters’ by naming Don Lemon debate moderator, critic says

CNN announced on Monday that Don Lemon will follow in the footsteps of MSNBC’s far-left opinion host Rachel Maddow as a Democratic presidential primary debate moderator — and one critic called the decision a “disservice to voters all across the political spectrum.”

Lemon will join Dana Bash and Jake Tapper for the two-night event on July 30-31 from Detroit. Debate moderators are historically straight-news journalists, as opposed to partisan pundits, but CNN’s decision mirrors NBC’s strategy to allow Maddow to moderate last month’s Democratic Debate.

THIS IS CNN? PRIMETIME SHOWS FILLED WITH LIBERAL OPINION, NOT STRAIGHT NEWS AS NETWORK CLAIMS

The New York Times reportedly forbids its reporters from appearing on both Maddow and Lemon’s programs, because they are considered too partisan even for the Times – which is often criticized for leaning left itself.

Accuracy in Media national editor Carrie Sheffield thinks the Times’ reportedly pulling back its journalists from appearing on Lemon’s show because of concerns of bias “should be a wakeup call to” everyone involved and the CNN anchor “should be striving for greater balance to give voice to a wider swath” of the American electorate.

“This debate could well illustrate how Democrats’ constant embrace of divisive identity politics has created a deep fissure within our national culture that can only be solved by coming together and unifying around shared values,” Sheffield told Fox News. “We hope Mr. Lemon can use this occasion to embrace true diversity, which includes ideological diversity.”

“We hope Mr. Lemon can use this occasion to embrace true diversity, which includes ideological diversity.”

— Carrie Sheffield

The far-left Maddow was front and center during NBC’s technical-issue-plagued debate and conservatives critics condemned her performance. BlazeTV White House correspondent Jon Miller told Fox News that Maddow “served up questions about her favorite conspiracy theories” that were “unbefitting of a news organization.”

Now Lemon — who Trump once called “the dumbest man on television” — will apparently be prominent when CNN has a chance to grill 2020 hopefuls. While MSNBC admits that Maddow is an opinion host, CNN has continued to label Lemon an “anchor” despite spouting anti-Trump opinions on a regular basis.

HANNITY TO CNN BOSS: ‘YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF’ FOR LETTING DON LEMON MAKE HITLER COMPARISON

Media Research Center vice president Dan Gainor told Fox News that “if you didn’t know better, you’d figure Don Lemon was added to the debates for comedy relief,” before offering another theory.

“He says so many things that even liberals are embarrassed by him,” Gainor said. “But in reality, we know why he was chosen. He was picked so CNN can remind its audience of liberals that it is part of the resistance.”

“He was picked so CNN can remind its audience of liberals that it is part of the resistance.”

— Dan Gainor

CNN did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

In recent memory, Lemon has compared Trump to Adolf Hitler, then claimed he “didn’t mean” to compare the president and Hitler. He has also called Trump a “racist,” a “fraud,” “con man,” questioned whether or not the State of the Union should air on a delay to avoid “propaganda,” declared that he wouldn’t shake the president’s hand and questioned Trump’s mental fitness.

Conservative strategist Chris Barron told Fox News that CNN’s decision is “a disservice to voters all across the political spectrum” because Lemon is so open about his own views.

“They are more interested in the political version of a church revival than an actual debate,” Barron said.

Lemon has also suggested Trump doesn’t do enough work, speculated on whether or not the president lies about his weight, tied Trump to the college admissions cheating scheme and took a shot at Trump as he was giving his colleague Chris Cuomo a brief tour of his new studio, suggesting that the president can’t afford such a lavish space since he isn’t a “real billionaire.”

Lemon initially gained broadcasting prominence as a news anchor, covering breaking news and reporting from the scene of major stories, but DePauw University professor and media critic Jeffrey McCall recently told Fox News that Lemon is no longer a news anchor in the traditional sense because of his partisan rhetoric.

CNN’S DON LEMON DOESN’T LET ‘ANCHOR’ TITLE GET IN THE WAY OF HIS ON-AIR OPINIONS

“He is a host of an opinion-driven show in which his opinions are front and center. Thus, he is a host rather than a news anchor,” McCall said. “His show does discuss news topics, but it is not designed as an objective news show.”

Lemon also has a history with some of the candidates expected to be on the debate stage, as he famously lobbed a softball by asking Cory Booker what it’s like being a vegan during a CNN town hall event. He was also criticized for pondering aloud whether or not Kamala Harris is African-American.

One certainty is that Lemon wasn’t selected to lift the debate’s viewership totals. Lemon’s “CNN Tonight” finished the second quarter of 2019 as the No. 35 most-watched show on cable news, averaging only 705,000 viewers.

“We have a leadership crisis in Virginia. Washington is broken. We need a fresh start in the Senate,” he said, calling out Warner, D-Va., for falsely claiming President Trump was guilty of “traitorous activity” with Russia.

The Iraq War veteran touted his ability to work across the aisle while he was in the House, saying each bill he introduced had a Democrat co-sponsor.

Republicans were soundly defeated in Virginia in 2018, with Democrats flipping three House seats — including Taylor’s — and Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine winning re-election by 16 points over Republican challenger Corey Stewart.

Taylor was clear-eyed about the challenge he faces to unseat Warner in 2020.

“We are underdogs, there’s no question. As you know, we the people have been taking left hooks for years and years and years and we might hit the canvas, but we’re gonna get back up, dust our knees off and move forward,” he said.

He said he is looking forward to the day he becomes an American, “if you’ll have me, that is.”

Hilton added that it’s fitting how he made the announcement just days after the U.S. celebrated Independence Day.
