Rush Limbaugh: The ‘dangerous’ base created by Democrats is lashing out

Democrats have created a “dangerous” base, and now they are struggling to stop those very same supporters from lashing out, according to conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh.

Limbaugh made the explosive claim during his radio show on Monday, pointing to the tensions among members of the party at the California Democratic Convention over the weekend as proof.

“Everybody thinks that the Trump rally crowds are these brainless maniacs. Folks, it’s exact opposite. It is these people at Democrat conventions and Democrat rallies who are truly, truly dangerous,” Limbaugh said.

KARL ROVE: BOOING AT CONVENTION SHOWS SPLIT IN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY

“They are a powder keg waiting to explode. Do not doubt me on this,” Limbaugh added, referencing the current divide among members of the party.

During the event Saturday Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., was interrupted by a man wearing a “join the animal rights movement” T-shirt; he jumped up on the stage and snatched the microphone from her as she spoke during MoveOn’s Big Ideas Forum.

The forum over the weekend featured a number of headline-grabbing crowd interactions.

Harris then left the stage, and the man was carried off by security officers.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., was heckled with calls for impeachment as she spoke Saturday and Democratic presidential candidate John Hickenlooper was booed when he spoke out against socialism.

Limbaugh argued that Democrats created this group of followers who are frustrated that the party has not taken action.

“And the Democrat Party has created this group of people. And they have to keep feeding it ’cause they need their money, they need their votes,” the conservative host charged.

“These people want Trump frog-marched… and they’re getting frustrated out there.”

“They’re trying to talk around impeachment. ‘We’re gonna do it, but maybe but not now. We’re thinking about it.’ They don’t want any hesitation whatsoever. They want Trump and they want it now.”

NRA responds to Gillibrand put-down by posting her 2008 letter praising gun-rights group

Westlake Legal Group 694940094001_6043833132001_6043829490001-vs NRA responds to Gillibrand put-down by posting her 2008 letter praising gun-rights group Gregg Re fox-news/us/personal-freedoms/second-amendment fox-news/entertainment/media fox news fnc/politics fnc article 8d807fe0-aa02-5763-9ab6-57a9b73fdfdf

One day after Kirsten Gillibrand slammed the National Rifle Association (NRA) as the “worst organization in this country,” the group on Monday posted an effusive letter it received from Gillibrand in 2008 in which the then-congresswoman praised “the work that the NRA does to protect gun owners rights” and said she hoped to work with it “for many years in Congress.”

At a fiery Fox News town hall in Dubuque, Iowa Sunday. Gillibrand charged that the NRA cares “more about their profits than the American people” and “lies” for the sake of profit. But the NRA has countered that Gillibrand, whose campaign has attracted at most 1 percent support in national and early voting state polls, was a cynical political opportunist trying to gin up support for her candidacy.

“Gillibrand called us the worst org in the country, but when she represented NY20, she wrote us: ‘I appreciate the work that the NRA does to protect gun owners rights, and I look forward to working with you for many years,'” the NRA wrote on Twitter. “Now that she’s looking to crack 1%, she’ll say anything.”

Gillibrand, according to the NRA, sent the letter to NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris Cox on Sept. 19, 2018. The ILA, or Institute for Legislative Action, is the lobbying arm of the NRA.

“I want to be very clear that I always have and always will believe that the correct interpretation of the 2nd amendment is that it applies to an individual’s right to carry guns, and does not apply generally to the National Guard or a group of individuals in a State,” Gillibrand wrote to Cox, following what she described as a meeting with him the previous August

Gillibrand went on to reject a slew of gun control measures, saying she was “adamantly opposed” to the idea “outright banning firearms for cosmetic features, bullets of an [sic] random size, or banning magazines from holding an arbitrary number of cartridges.” Those limitations, she said, were “random” and intended solely to “limit[] gun ownership or usage.”

Gillibrand concluded: “I appreciate the work that the NRA does to protect gun owners rights, and I look forward to working with you for many years.”

The letter was not out of the ordinary for Gillibrand at the time. Gillibrand boasted in 2009 about receiving a 100 percent “A” rating from the NRA and said she kept two guns under her bed. She was also a member of the conservative Democratic Blue Dog coalition when she represented New York’s rural 20th congressional district in the House.

Gillibrand first began changing her views on guns upon her appointment by then-New York Gov. David Paterson to fill the Senate seat vacated by Hillary Clinton in 2009. As a senator, Gillibrand represented a far larger and more liberal constituency.

“I came from a district that was really rural — Second Amendment was important, hunting was important,” Gillibrand said at Sunday’s town hall, when asked why she changed her views on gun rights. “I recognize people have different communities. … The truth is, it wasn’t good enough to care only about your backyard — you’ve got to care about communities across this country.”

Pressed by moderator and Fox News host Chris Wallace on what exactly changed once she arrived in the Senate and quickly received an “F” rating from the NRA, Gillibrand continued: “Just realizing that not every part of this country is like my rural, upstate district.”

At the town hall, Gillibrand went on to call for universal background checks, a bump stock ban, and a federal anti-weapons trafficking law. She also accused the NRA of having a “chokehold” on members of Congress. (The Trump administration has already banned bump stocks, over the objections of some conservatives who raised concerns about the constitutionality of the sweeping executive order.)

Wallace pointed out that Friday’s shooting at the Virginia Beach municipal complex would not have been stopped by any of Gillibrand’s proposed initiatives, and inquired whether she could provide more specific ideas that could have prevented the murders.

“Stop being beholden to the NRA like President Trump is,” Gillibrand offered. “The NRA is lying to the American people. It is not about the Second Amendment. It is about gun sales. … It is literally about greed and corruption, and making sure the status quo remains the same.”

Democrats, including key donors, have accused Gillibrand of opportunism in other instances. Notably, Gillibrand said in 2017 — after Hillary Clinton lost her presidential bid the previous year — that Bill Clinton should have resigned during the Monica Lewinsky scandal. She made no mention of it, however, before then, including when Bill Clinton campaigned and fundraised for Gillibrand in 2006 and 2009.

And last October, whenb asked during a debate whether she would serve out her full term in the Senate or seek the presidency, Gillibrand responded: “I will serve my six-year term.”

Gillibrand won re-election the next month, to a six-year Senate term, and announced her presidential candidacy in January.

Billionaire left-wing megadonor George Soros, in an interview with The Washington Post, said Gillibrand was the only Democrat he hoped would not win the presidency, because of what he termed her political opportunism.

Gillibrand’s office did not respond to Fox News’ request for comment. But by Gillibrand’s own admission, time is running out to generate momentum.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., isn’t ready to let Robert Mueller return to private life just yet.

Schiff said the former special counsel should testify before Congress about his investigation into the 2016 election.

“I think he has one last service to perform,” the California Democrat told ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday.

FORMER ASSISTANT US ATTORNEY: MUELLER BASICALLY TOLD DEMS, ‘I’M NOT GOING TO BE YOUR SAVIOR’

More from Media

“It’s not enough merely to speak for 10 minutes and say, ‘I’m not going to answer questions for Congress and the American people.’ There are a great many things that are not in the report.

“We want to find out what happened to those counterintelligence findings that were sent back to headquarters. And in terms of if the president is vulnerable of influence from Russia.”

Schiff added he was “disappointed” Mueller has — in his mind — displayed a “profound reluctance to testify.”

ROBERT MUELLER DOESN’T WANT TO TESTIFY, BUT WILL HE SUCCEED IN HEADING OFF A SUBPOENA?

He also told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos he would want the chance to question Mueller about topics not covered in the report.

The comments came after Mueller said he does not want to testify, during a rare public statement last week.

“The report is my testimony,” Mueller said Wednesday, saying that if he were to be called to speak under oath, he would not say anything other than what is already in his report.

But Schiff is not the only Democrat to say Mueller’s report does not give all the information required.

House Democratic Caucus Chairman Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., also said that Mueller’s report was not enough. Jeffries told the New York Times that “there is a difference between reading the book and seeing the movie on the big screen.”

Meanwhile, the president has maintained the Russia investigation was politically motivated. “How do you impeach a Republican President for a crime that was committed by the Democrats? WITCH-HUNT!” he tweeted last week.

Trump attacks CNN moments after arriving in London for state visit

It seems as though President Trump isn’t happy with his television options in the United Kingdom.

Trump, who arrived in London on Monday for the start of a weeklong visit, launched another attack on CNN on Twitter.

“Just arrived in the United Kingdom. The only problem is that @CNN is the primary source of news available from the U.S. After watching it for a short while, I turned it off. All negative & so much Fake News, very bad for U.S. Big ratings drop. Why doesn’t owner @ATT do something?” he tweeted.

“I believe that if people stoped using or subscribing to @ATT, they would be forced to make big changes at @CNN, which is dying in the ratings anyway. It is so unfair with such bad, Fake News! Why wouldn’t they act. When the World watches @CNN, it gets a false picture of USA. Sad!”

TRUMP BEGINS UK VISIT MEETING QUEEN, SPARRING WITH LONDON MAYOR

The anti-CNN tweets capped off a busy social media morning for the president, who had earlier taken aim at London Mayor Sadiq Khan.

“.@SadiqKhan, who by all accounts has done a terrible job as Mayor of London, has been foolishly “nasty” to the visiting President of the United States, by far the most important ally of the United Kingdom. He is a stone cold loser who should focus on crime in London, not me……,” Trump tweeted.

TRUMP CALLS LONDON’S MAYOR ‘THE TWIN OF DE BLASIO, EXCEPT SHORTER’

“….Kahn reminds me very much of our very dumb and incompetent Mayor of NYC, de Blasio, who has also done a terrible job – only half his height. In any event, I look forward to being a great friend to the United Kingdom, and am looking very much forward to my visit. Landing now!”

Bill de Blasio is 6’5. Khan is 5’6.

Khan recently said Trump was not in the “same class” as his predecessors. Prior to Trump’s visit, Khan wrote a column titled, “It’s un-British to roll out the red carpet for Donald Trump.”

Khan pointed out Trump’s most controversial policy initiatives and likened them to the actions of European dictators of the 1930s and 40s.

“Donald Trump is just one of the most egregious examples of a growing global threat,” Khan wrote. “The far right is on the rise around the world, threatening our hard-won rights and freedoms and the values that have defined our liberal, democratic societies for more than seventy years.”

Daily Beast accused of ‘doxxing’ alleged creator of ‘Drunk Pelosi’ video

The Daily Beast faced a heavy backlash on social media Sunday after one of its reporters was accused of doxxing a private citizen who allegedly created a manipulated video that falsely portrays House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. as if she were intoxicated and posted it on Facebook.

Daily Beast reporter Kevin Poulsen tweeted Saturday night that he had been “looking for the Russian troll behind the ‘Drunk Pelosi’ viral video hoax. Turns out he’s an itinerant forklift operator from the Bronx who’s been secretly running hard-right ‘news’ outlets across social media for years. Also, not Russian.” The tweet included a link to a story that identified the man by name and detailed his employment history, past relationships and social media footprint. The subheadline of the story described the man as “a sports blogger from the Bronx [who is] currently on probation for domestic battery.”

The article initially included a picture of the man, but that had been removed from the story as of Sunday night.

The three-minute clip of a May 22 Pelosi speaking event at the Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank, was uploaded on Facebook by a group called “Politics WatchDog.” The video shows her frequently slurring her words and her voice sounding garbled. Copies of the clip had also been found on Twitter and YouTube, which the latter had removed.

FACEBOOK IGNORES HILLARY CLINTON, NANCY PELOSI AMID BACKLASH OVER DOCTORED VIDEO

The man admitted to the Daily Beast that he was an administrator of the “Politics WatchDog” group, but denied posting the Pelosi video, blaming a “female admin.”

The Daily Beast report was met with strong criticism from reporters for outlets with varying editorial slants. Huffington Post and New York magazine contributor Yashar Ali tweeted: “[I]t sets a really bad precedent when a private citizen, particularly someone who is working a blue collar job, has their identity publicly revealed simply because they made a video of a politician appearing to be drunk. His identity offers nothing to this story.”

PELOSI FACES SHOUTS FOR IMPEACHMENT AT CALIFORNIA DEMOCRATIC PARTY CONVENTION

The Wrap media editor Jon Levine described the story as “[a] hit job on a completely private citizen … over a joke video of Pelosi that happened to go viral.”

Fox Business Network’s Charlie Gasparino tweeted: “The @thedailybeast spends a lot of time telling us everything we don’t need to know about the guy behind the dopey Pelosi video, which is so far from the real story of our shoot-first, facts later social media culture (see covington boys and a lot more).”

FLASHBACK: #CNNBLACKMAIL: OUTRAGE AFTER NETWORK APPEARS TO THREATEN REDDIT USER

Former FoxNews.com opinion contributor Stephen Miller mocked Poulsen’s tweet about “looking for the Russian troll” behind the Pelosi video.

“[L]iterally no one thought that [Russians created the Pelosi video],” Miller tweeted. “Media using their bylines to go after and intimidate private citizens for internet videos they don’t like is literally enemy of the people s–t.”

The Washington Examiner reported the man is now considering a lawsuit.

“I’m looking at my options for possible legal action against anyone who was associated in publishing that inaccurate trash article about me, misquoting me and accusing me of being the creator of the Speaker Pelosi video that went viral,” the man said in a description of a “legal action fund” he set up on GoFundMe.

Facebook’s refusal to take down the video sparked an outcry among prominent Democrats, with Hillary Clinton describing it as “sexist trash” during a commencement address at Hunter College in New York City last week. Pelosi said in San Francisco that she is no longer giving Facebook the benefit of doubt that it is “unwittingly” spreading false information. She said Facebook is serving an accomplice and enabler of false information and Russian elections interference.

Facebook’s Head of Product Policy and Counterterrorism Monika Bickert said that users are being told that the video is false when they view or share it.

Facebook does not prohibit false information from being shared on its service. Instead, the company says it “downranks” such material to make it less prominent in people’s news feeds and more difficult to find. It also employs outside fact-checkers to determine the veracity of questionable material. It includes such fact checks around the disputed articles and videos but does not directly label them as false.

Televangelist Kenneth Copeland defends use of private jets in TV interview, denies calling people ‘demons’

A Texas-based televangelist is facing scrutiny following a recent TV interview in which he defended his use of three private jets and referred to the public as “a bunch of demons” that he needed to avoid while preparing his sermons.

Kenneth Copeland, head of Kenneth Copeland Ministries, was confronted by reporter Lisa Guerrero of “Inside Edition” in May while in his car outside an event in Branson, Mo.

Asked why he needs the private jets, Copeland responds: “If I flew commercial, I’d have to stop 65 percent of what I’m doing.”

Guerrero then asks Copeland about a past statement attributed to him, in which he allegedly said he doesn’t use commercial airlines because he doesn’t “want to get into a tube with a bunch of demons.”

Copeland appears to become angered by the question and denies comparing people to demons.

“Don’t you ever say I did!,” the preacher snarls at the reporter.

Copeland normally declines to address questions about his purchases, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported. The preacher’s organization operates 22 churches in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and runs a 1,500-acre campus that includes an airstrip and a hangar for its planes, the report said.

According to the newspaper, Copeland’s third jet, a Gulfstream V, was purchased in January 2018 from Hollywood star Tyler Perry. But the preacher tells Guerrero in the interview that he got a good price on the aircraft and didn’t overspend.

When asked to disclose a specific price, Copeland declines.

“That’s really none of your business,” he tells Guerrero.

Neither Copeland nor his ministry responded when the Star-Telegram sought their reaction to the Inside Edition interview, the newspaper reported.

Copeland is far from the only religious leader linked to expensive purchases.

In December, a South Carolina pastor spent $200,000 on a Lamborghini as an anniversary gift for his wife.

Pastor John Gray, leader of the Relentless Church in Greenville, was widely criticized on social media but still defended the purchase.

“Pastor buys his wife this expensive car,” Gray said. “First of all it wasn’t a pastor who bought the car, it was a husband that bought the car. Get that in your spirit.”

He also addressed the speculation that he used some money from the church to pay for the Lamborghini.

“Did this man use any money from the church to do this?” Gray asked. “And the answer is no. Absolutely not. And God, take my life on this live feed if I did.”

Last May, Louisiana-based preacher Jesse Duplantis announced he was seeking donations so he could purchase a $54 million private jet.

“I really believe that if Jesus was physically on the Earth today, he wouldn’t be riding a donkey,” Duplantis said at the time. “He’d be in an airplane preaching the gospel all over the world.”

Fox News’ Kathleen Joyce and Bradford Betz contributed to this report.
