Laura Ingraham: Dems ‘self-sabotaging’ ahead of 2020, ‘obsessed with Trump’

In her “Ingraham Angle” commentary, Fox News’ Laura Ingraham said that Democrats are committing “self-sabotage” ahead of the 2020 elections by being “obsessed with” President Trump instead of “pushing policies that actually appeal to working-class Americans.”

“Far too many of our Democrat friends have kind of driven off the deep end,” she said. “They’re obsessed with Trump, they’re muttering about [Special Counsel Robert] Mueller, Don Jr., Russia and [Attorney General] Bill Barr.”

Ingraham played a montage of Democratic lawmakers on other networks voicing their opposition to the administration.

“I’m recommending that we impeach Attorney General Barr,” said Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., on CBS.

“I don’t want to throw him in jail, but I’m ready to do so,” Rep. Lloyd Doggett, D-Texas, said of Barr on CNN.

Reps. Adam Schiff, D-Calif. and Gerry Connolly, D-Va., were also featured in the clips.

“If only they spent as much time thinking about why the country elected Trump in the first place, or maybe — heaven forbid — pushing policies that actually appeal to working-class Americans,” Ingraham said of Democrats’ outcry.

Ingraham said that, in the face of a growing economy, it will be more difficult for Democrats to run against the Trump administration on that issue.

“The few policies that the Democrats have actually floated have flopped. The Green New Deal is a mean new tax and Medicare for All is just another fantasy freebie,” she said.

Ingraham said that the Democrats are “making a big mistake” in their political calculus, asking “What have they really achieved?”

Hemingway on Gillibrand’s ‘identity politics’ push: ‘Come up with a better gimmick than being young and a woman’

“Federalist” senior editor Mollie Hemingway said Tuesday on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” that 2020 Democratic hopeful Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., should “come up with a better gimmick” than her gender and age if she seeks to practice “identity politics.”

Host Tucker Carlson said that no candidate has “played this role” of “making excuses why you are the victim” more “precisely” than Gillibrand.

Gillibrand said in a clip from a CBS interview played by Carlson that she is running for president as “a young mom” who is going to “fight for other people’s kids as hard as I would fight for my own.”

“You are either going to run on identity politics or you’re not,” Hemingway said of the current 2020 Democratic presidential field.

BIDEN ‘ABSOLUTELY’ AGREES WITH WOMAN WHO BLASTS TRUMP PRESIDENCY BY CALLING IT ‘ILLEGITIMATE’

Hemingway said former Vice President Joe Biden is running his race without consideration of identity politics but that Gillibrand is embracing the idea.

“If you are doing the identity politics lane, she’s got a difficult one: She is not the only woman, not the only white woman – she is not the youngest person,” she said.

“If you’re going to do identity politics, [Gillibrand] needs to come up with a better gimmick than being young and a woman,” Hemingway added.

Hemingway suggested that to increase her popularity, Gillibrand should work to build a coalition and “not blame other people.”

She claimed the situation is evidence of the media being “in alliance with the Democratic Party.”

“Sometimes people aren’t told when they say things that make them seem ridiculous,” she said. “Someone needs to explain to Stacey Abrams, D-Ga., that she is not the governor of Georgia, and someone needs to explain to Kirsten Gillibrand that there is nothing wrong with being 52.”

Hemingway added that Hillary Clinton should also be formally advised that she lost the 2016 election “fair and square.”

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews: AG Barr is trying to ‘destroy’ the government, FBI to protect Trump

Westlake Legal Group chris-matthews-MSNBC MSNBC's Chris Matthews: AG Barr is trying to 'destroy' the government, FBI to protect Trump Joseph Wulfsohn fox-news/politics fox-news/person/donald-trump fox-news/news-events/russia-investigation fox-news/entertainment/media fox news fnc/entertainment fnc article 11b784a3-e9c8-5cd0-ba56-159550615234

MSNBC host Chris Matthews delivered a fiery tirade against Attorney General William Barr over his handling of Russia-related investigations and claimed that he was trying to “destroy the FBI” in order to protect President Donald Trump.

It was confirmed yesterday that Barr appointed U.S. Attorney John Durham to review the origins of the Russia probe that was launched during the 2016 election to determine if there was improper surveillance of the Trump campaign and that Durham has already been looking into the inquiry “for weeks.”

During an interview with Rep. Joaquin Castro, D-Texas, on Monday evening, Matthews slammed Barr, referring to him as the president’s “hitman” who is “out to destroy the government.”

“It’s an embarrassment to have an attorney general who looks like a Roy Cohn, a guy who will do anything to defend the president and now has become his hitman,” Matthews said.

US ATTORNEY JOHN DURHAM HAS BEEN REVIEWING ORIGINS OF RUSSIA PROBE ‘FOR WEEKS:’ SOURCE

“Not only will he play defense, he’s out to destroy the government, the FBI, everything in order to cover the tracks of the president. What do you make of this guy and how can you stop Barr from doing what he’s out to do now, destroy the FBI?”

Castro agreed, calling Barr the president’s “fixer” and “protector.” He also claimed that Barr was launching the probe on the origins of the Russia investigation to “chill” anyone who looks into alleged wrongdoing by Trump and refuted Barr’s claim that “spying” took place during the 2016 election and that it was simply an “investigation.”

The segment came after Fox News reported Durham, known as a “hard-charging, bulldog” prosecutor, according to a source, will focus on the period before Nov. 7, 2016—including the use and assignments of FBI informants, as well as alleged improper issuance of Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants. Durham was asked to help Barr to “ensure that intelligence collection activities by the U.S. Government related to the Trump 2016 Presidential Campaign were lawful and appropriate.”

A source also told Fox News that Barr is working “collaboratively” on the investigation with FBI Director Chris Wray, CIA Director Gina Haspel, and Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, and that Durham is also working directly with Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz, who is currently reviewing allegations of misconduct in issuance of FISA warrants, and the role of FBI informants during the early stages of the investigation.

Meanwhile, President Trump on Tuesday praised Barr for appointing Durham and maintained that he did not request that the attorney general do so.

“I think it’s a great thing that he did it,” Trump told reporters from the White House lawn Tuesday. “I am so proud of our attorney general that he’s looking into it.”

Durham has led numerous public corruption probes, including organized crime, government misconduct and financial  fraud matters. In 1999 AG Janet Reno appointed Durham to investigate law enforcement corruption in Boston, and under AG Eric Holder Durham was selected to investigate matters relating to the destruction of videotapes by the CIA and treatment of detainees by the CIA.

Hawaii congresswoman and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard had some laughs at the expense of the Clintons for their revived speaking tour and blasted former DNI director James Clapper during her Monday appearance on the podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience.”

Host Joe Rogan pondered on “who is paying to listen to Hillary Clinton talk,” which prompted Gabbard to ask “What are they getting out of it?”

Rogan then turned his attention to closed-door speeches Clinton has given previously, saying: “I would love to pretend to be a banker, put a lizard skin face mask on, go sit with those bankers and listen to one of those conversations that Hillary Clinton got paid a quarter of a million dollars for.”.

“Yeah, never released the transcripts,” Gabbard added.

Rogan told Gabbard that he is “baffled” by the people who would pay and to see former President Bill Clinton and the former First Lady and Secretary of State “bulls— them.”

“That’s right,” Gabbard agreed.

She also slammed Clapper for misleading Congress about the NSA’s surveillance of American citizens and took a swipe at CNN for hiring him as an “expert.”

“I think you had the director of the Department of National Intelligence at that time, James Clapper, who sat before the United States Senate and blatantly lied,” Gabbard charged.

“He was asked very directly, ‘Are you collecting this information,’ and he said ‘no.’ ‘Are you collecting this information on American citizens’ and he said, ‘no.’ And yet, he is somebody you see on TV almost every day as an expert in this country without any consequence lying to the American people.”

Eric Trump clashes with Bill De Blasio on Twitter over New York City, Green New Deal

Eric Trump and Democratic New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio had a nasty spat on Twitter following the mayor’s Green New Deal rally he held in the lobby of Trump Tower.

The president‘s son began Monday blasting de Blasio for attacking the Trump Organization, calling it an unethical “abuse of power” while boasting the “thousands” of New Yorkers his family business employs.

“Most Mayors do all they can to support great businesses – here in NYC, businesses are attacked for headlines and ‘political points’ and is this very mentality that is causing people to leave our great city in droves,” Trump wrote in the thread before directing his message to the NYC mayor. “If you ever think there is an initiative that would be great for New York, I would be happy to come to city hall and visit you anytime. But forcing a pop-up press conference in our lobby is simply childish.”

Trump also extended an inviation to de Blasio to work together. De Blasio, however, accused the Trump Organization of “evading taxes” and “stifflings” workers.

“Spare me. You and your dad have spent decades evading taxes and stiffing your workers,” the potential 2020 candidate tweeted. “NYC’s Green New Deal is one law the Trumps won’t get away with breaking. Fix your buildings or pay the price.”

Eric Trump fired back, declaring that New York City has “gone to s—” under de Blasio’s leadership.

“Spare me? First you have never created a job in your life. Second, our great city has gone to shit under your leadership,” Trump tweeted. “Crime is up, the men & women of the NYPD detest you, homelessness is rampant, our streets are dirty and people are leaving our city in record numbers.”

‘Morning Joe’ guest blasts AG Barr as DOJ reverses on ObamaCare: ‘Unmitigated disaster’

Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson had some harsh words for Attorney General William Barr as his Justice Department faced criticism for changing its position on the Affordable Care Act (ACA) — arguing that the entire law, rather than just parts, was unconstitutional.

“William Barr’s tenure as attorney general is going to be — so far it has been, I would say — a pretty unmitigated disaster,”  Robinson told “Morning Joe” on Tuesday.

Robinson went on to question whether Barr even believed his the DOJ’s decision, saying that it was “destabilizing.”

“Is this something that Barr actually believes? Is he again nullifying the president who wants to get rid of anything with President Obama’s name on it?” he asked. “It’s unclear. But it’s deeply disturbing, even if this ultimately fails, even if ultimately, you know, the ACA is upheld, it’s destabilizing.”

TUCKER CARLSON: DEMS PROVE JOE WILSON RIGHT – OBAMA LIED ABOUT ILLEGALS GETTING HEALTH CARE

His comments came after letters, in which congressional Democratic leaders demanded the DOJ provide details as to how the White House might have influenced its decision.

“If we do not receive a response by this date, we will have no choice but to consider alternative means of obtaining compliance,” the letters read.

Mike Barnicle, journalist and frequent “Morning Joe” guest, criticized Democrats for giving the Justice Department two weeks to respond.

“If you have a preexisting condition, and you have to go to an emergency room, with yourself or with one of your children, you don’t get two weeks to respond!” he said.

MCCONNELL ON 2020: ‘I CAN’T WAIT’ TO DEBATE DEMS ON ‘MEDICARE FOR NONE’

“Your entire income, your entire family’s future, could be gone in one moment in an emergency room. And we give these clowns two weeks to respond to the potential destruction of an act that has saved hundreds of lives!”

Barr is no stranger to criticism on MSNBC or the media in general. After he released a controversial summary of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report, he experienced weeks of media criticism for allegedly shielding President Donald Trump from scrutiny.

“The rule of law had a deficit because Donald Trump had been kicking it in the teeth for 22 months, and what the country’s Attorney General did was walk in there and back up the guy doing the kicking,” MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace said after Barr held a press conference on the Mueller report.

Trump administration most ‘directly hostile’ to Russia’s interests since fall of communism: Ian Bremmer

Westlake Legal Group AP19129027008698 Trump administration most 'directly hostile' to Russia's interests since fall of communism: Ian Bremmer Lukas Mikelionis fox-news/politics/executive fox-news/person/donald-trump fox-news/entertainment/media fox news fnc/politics fnc cfe4bc8a-2d8e-5ac1-8cc9-559d5e7753d6 article

No U.S. administration since the collapse of the communism in Eastern Europe has ever been so directly hostile to Russian interests than the Trump administration, says Ian Bremmer, president and founder of Eurasia Group.

The foreign policy expert went to Twitter on Tuesday to dispel the accusation often voiced by Democrats who say the current administration has been soft on Russian efforts to spread its influence around the globe.

“Under Trump Admin, US is arming Ukraine, formally recognizing opposition to Venezuelan regime, and pushing for regime change in Iran,” he tweeted. “FACT: There’s been no US Administration so directly hostile to Russian interests since Soviet collapse.”

IRANIAN PRESIDENTIAL AIDE SAYS TRUMP WILL ‘GET A WAR’ FOR LISTENING TO ‘THE MUSTACHE’ JOHN BOLTON

This means that although Russia is expected to interfere in the 2020 presidential election, it “might be worth reconsidering who they’ll want to win” given that Trump’s foreign policy “is not turning out to be good for the Kremlin.”

“There’s the more structural question of whether Putin supports anyone that makes the US (and by extension the West) more divided,” he added. “Answer: Yes, but it matters less when the US economy is robust, defense spending is picking up, and the US is the world’s largest energy producer.”

The Trump administration has taken steps to support the Ukrainian military and announced last year the sale of 210 Javelin anti-tank missiles and 37 launchers, worth about $47 million. Ukraine has been embroiled in a years-long war against Russian-backed groups in Eastern Ukraine.

In Venezuela, Trump and his administration supported Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó from the onset of his declaration that he’s the interim leader of the country.

POMPEO WARNS RUSSIA AGAINST ‘MESSING AROUND WITH VENEZUELA’

Russia has been supporting the socialist regime of Venezuela for years, including supplying weapons and aircraft. The country continues to play a key role in sustaining authoritarian president Nicholas Maduro’s reign and sent Russian military advisers.

Earlier this month, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo directly rebuked Russia interference in the country.

“I’m going to tell him the same thing the president told the world: that every country must get out, including the Russians,” Pompeo said during an interview on “Fox News Sunday.” “That’s what I’ll tell him. We don’t want anyone messing around with Venezuela.”

The U.S. has also been engaged in a showdown against the Iranian regime, an ally of Russia, which has threatened the U.S. with war after American military experts found that Iran or its proxies were responsible for damaging four commercial ships off the coast of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sunday.

CNN anchor Don Lemon took a shot at President Trump as he was giving his colleague Chris Cuomo a brief tour of the new studio, suggesting that the president can’t afford such a large space since he isn’t a “real billionaire.”

The liberal news network is currently in the middle of a major transition from its New York City headquarters on Columbus Circle to the newly-built studio in Hudson Yards and over the past several weeks CNN’s NYC-based programming has been slowly migrating to the new location.

And during their nightly handoff on Monday, the “CNN Tonight” host offered Cuomo a glimpse of the new digs.

“I’ve got to tell you something,” Lemon said to Cuomo. “I moved.”

Lemon joked that he “actually lives here” before walking up an on-set staircase, where he said a kitchen and a bathroom were located on the upper level.

“Isn’t it beautiful?” Lemon asked.

“Do you know how much an apartment of that size would cost in this city?” Cuomo asked.

“No! Who could afford it?” Lemon responded. “The only person who could afford an apartment like this, maybe, well, it wouldn’t be Trump. It would be someone who’s actually a real billionaire.”

Lemon and Cuomo both chuckled

Lemon blasted Trump last week shortly after The New York Times published its story about the real estate mogul’s major losses in the 1980s and early 90s, calling him the “conman-in-chief” and a “fraud.”

‘Trump, the clean-up man’: Ingraham says president ‘wisely using tariffs’ to ‘punish China’

Westlake Legal Group laura-Ingraham-FOX- 'Trump, the clean-up man': Ingraham says president 'wisely using tariffs' to 'punish China' fox-news/world/world-regions/china fox-news/topic/fox-news-flash fox-news/entertainment/media fox news fnc/politics fnc Charles Creitz article aed529c4-198f-5e90-92dc-c9d985c9c629 /FOX NEWS/WORLD/GLOBAL ECONOMY/Trade

In her “Ingraham Angle” monologue on Monday, Laura Ingraham said President Trump is effectively the “clean-up man” for past presidents who may have been too wary to take a hard line against China on trade policy.

Ingraham noted that the Chinese government “retaliated” against Trump’s 25 percent increase on tariffs on some Chinese goods by threatening to hike tariffs on 5,000 U.S. products.

She dismissed criticisms from some Democrats and members of the media who panned Trump’s decision.

“Presidents since George Washington have recognized the power and importance of tariffs to protect American interests,” she said. “Facing China’s gross trade abuses… Trump is wisely using tariffs to punish China for bad behavior.”

US-CHINA TRADE TALKS END WITH NO DEAL, BUT TRUMP PUTS FAITH IN ‘STRONG’ RELATIONSHIP WITH XI

She continued, “With Trump in the White House, China knows that the days of exploiting the American market with impunity are over.”

Ingraham played video from January 2000, when then-President Bill Clinton urged China’s entry into the World Trade Organization.

US TRADE GAP JUMPED TO 10-YEAR-HIGH; RECORD GAP WITH CHINA

“This agreement is a good deal for America,” Clinton said at the time.

“Well, Trump is basically now the clean-up man for presidents and politicians who did nothing about China, virtually nothing, for decades,” Ingraham said, adding that the goods-and-services deficit with China in 2018 was several hundred billion dollars – and a hefty increase from the time before China entered the WTO.

“With all we know now about how China operates… there is a legitimate question to ask. Why are we trading with them at all? They are a geopolitical adversary who intends to destroy… freedom. They want to dominate,” Ingraham said.

Sean Hannity said in his “Hannity” Opening Monologue on Monday that former FBI Director James Comey “abused his power” and that there has been “mounting” evidence to that effect.

Hannity said Comey signed off on one of four Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant applications that sought authorization to conduct surveillance on President Trump’s then-campaign adviser Carter Page.

The decision was detailed in a memo released by the House Intelligence Committee in February 2018, an act that Comey subsequently criticized as “dishonest and misleading.”

The memo stated that on October 21, 2016, the Justice Department and the FBI “sought and received” a FISA probable cause order authorizing “electronic surveillance” on Carter Page from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.

Hannity said that the circumstances surrounding the FISA warrant applications were suspicious.

“Comey abused his power. The evidence against him is mounting,” Hannity said.

He said anti-Trump dossier source Christopher Steele, a former MI6 agent, reportedly “hated then-candidate Trump and was willing to do anything to take him down.”

Hannity criticized Comey for using Steele’s dossier as part of the “predicate” for the FISA warrant.

Hannity added that, in a speech in Baltimore, former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein responded to Comey’s critiques of his own personal character.

Rosenstein told the audience that he didn’t blame Comey for being “angry,” but that the ex-lawman “seems to be acting as a partisan pundit – selling books, earning speaking fees while speculating about the strength of my character and the fate of my immortal soul.”

“Rod Rosenstein is absolutely right to slam the former disgraced FBI director,” Hannity said.

“It’s not looking good for Mr. Super-Patriot Jim Comey,” he added. “He was a terrible FBI director.”

Hannity said that a “damning shadow” was being cast over him.
