‘Not looking good’ for Comey, Rosenstein ‘absolutely right to slam’ ex-FBI director, Hannity says

Westlake Legal Group James-Comey-Reuters 'Not looking good' for Comey, Rosenstein 'absolutely right to slam' ex-FBI director, Hannity says fox-news/topic/fox-news-flash fox-news/tech/topics/fbi fox-news/politics/justice-department fox-news/politics/house-of-representatives fox-news/person/james-comey fox-news/entertainment/media fox news fnc/politics fnc d82b0921-851a-5d09-bfa0-92110d01148b Charles Creitz article

Sean Hannity said in his “Hannity” Opening Monologue on Monday that former FBI Director James Comey “abused his power” and that there has been “mounting” evidence to that effect.

Hannity said Comey signed off on one of four Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant applications that sought authorization to conduct surveillance on President Trump’s then-campaign adviser Carter Page.

The decision was detailed in a memo released by the House Intelligence Committee in February 2018, an act that Comey subsequently criticized as “dishonest and misleading.”

The memo stated that on October 21, 2016, the Justice Department and the FBI “sought and received” a FISA probable cause order authorizing “electronic surveillance” on Carter Page from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.

Hannity said that the circumstances surrounding the FISA warrant applications were suspicious.

“Comey abused his power. The evidence against him is mounting,” Hannity said.

He said anti-Trump dossier source Christopher Steele, a former MI6 agent, reportedly “hated then-candidate Trump and was willing to do anything to take him down.”

Hannity criticized Comey for using Steele’s dossier as part of the “predicate” for the FISA warrant.

Hannity added that, in a speech in Baltimore, former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein responded to Comey’s critiques of his own personal character.

Rosenstein told the audience that he didn’t blame Comey for being “angry,” but that the ex-lawman “seems to be acting as a partisan pundit – selling books, earning speaking fees while speculating about the strength of my character and the fate of my immortal soul.”

“Rod Rosenstein is absolutely right to slam the former disgraced FBI director,” Hannity said.

“It’s not looking good for Mr. Super-Patriot Jim Comey,” he added. “He was a terrible FBI director.”

Hannity said that a “damning shadow” was being cast over him.

Steyn on Alyssa Milano’s ‘sex strike’: Attempts at ‘woke-ness’ taking us back to ‘dank slumbers of 60 years ago’

Author Mark Steyn reacted Monday to actress Alyssa Milano’s “sex strike” – launched in opposition to a new Georgia law that bans abortion after a baby’s heartbeat is detected.

Steyn said on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” that until this point, many pro-choice advocates made claims to the effect of “abstinence education doesn’t work, so we have to have abortion [rights].”

ALYSSA MILANO OPENS UP ABOUT HER FRIENDSHIP WITH JOE BIDEN AMID BACKLASH FOR DEFENDING MISCONDUCT ALLEGATIONS

“But abstinence apparently does work when Alyssa Milano is commanding it,” he remarked.

“We just cannot risk pregnancy. Join me by not having sex,” he said, paraphrasing a recent tweet by Milano.

“So, on the day that Doris Day dies, we are basically back to the sexual morality of Doris Day. “Young at Heart,” circa 1954, in which Hollywood actresses now are promoting chasteness because the risk of pregnancy from having sex is too high. ‘Woke-ness’ eventually brings you back to the same dank slumbers of 60 years ago. It’s amazing,” Steyn continued.

Day died early Monday at the age of 97.

Steyn said that the response from pro-choice activists to the new law in the Peach State was a “very weird reaction to public policy” that is “a lot more draconian than just trying to win a few elections in Georgia.”

Georgia is one of several states in recent weeks that have passed legislation forbidding doctors from ending pregnancies when a heartbeat can be detected, which is roughly at six weeks.

KERRY MADE ‘TERRIBLE MISTAKE’ TALKING WITH IRANIANS, BUT LOGAN ACT PROBE ‘PROBABLY OVERKILL’, JOE LIEBERMAN SAYS

Critics of such legislation have argued that many women don’t discover that they’re pregnant in six weeks.

The entertainment industry, in particular, is wrestling over the Georgia law because many films and TV shows are made in the state due to its widely popular tax incentives.

Finding the Bright Side: Shannon Bream interviews ‘personal hero’ husband ahead of new book release

To celebrate the release of her new book, “Finding the Bright Side: The Art of Chasing What Matters,” Fox News anchor Shannon Bream interviewed the “personal heroes” who have played a big role in her life – the first of whom is her husband, Sheldon.

Shannon Bream, host of “Fox News @ Night,” asked Sheldon about the time their relationship began.

“After our first date, I went back and told my roommates I was going to marry you,” said Sheldon. “Did they think you were crazy?” Shannon asked.

“No, because they knew you,” he said.

Shannon asked Sheldon about some of the tougher times in their lives, such as the period just before their wedding.

Sheldon said that time was “doubly tough” for him because his father had recently passed away, and he had undergone brain surgery after being diagnosed with a tumor.

He credited his “great support system” – Shannon, his mother, and his extended family – for getting him through that tough time.

“The Breams are pretty amazing,” Shannon remarked.

In her book, “Finding the Bright Side: The Art of Chasing What Matters,” Bream shares a deeply personal examination on finding purpose and growth amid life’s unpredictability.

Bream also opens up about her strict childhood, her years in law school, her experience participating in pageants like Miss America, her former Marine and police officer father and her mother, whom she affectionately refers to as the “Meanest Mom in the World.”

She also spoke about the book on “Fox & Friends” Monday, saying that her faith is similarly paramount in her life.

In that interview, she recalled the “winding path” she took to make it to the anchor chair at Fox News, and how her faith and her family helped support her along the way.

Kerry made ‘terrible mistake’ talking with Iranians, but Logan Act probe ‘probably overkill’, Joe Lieberman says

Westlake Legal Group Joe-Lieberman-FoxNews Kerry made 'terrible mistake' talking with Iranians, but Logan Act probe 'probably overkill', Joe Lieberman says fox-news/world/conflicts/iran fox-news/topic/fox-news-flash fox-news/politics/elections/democrats fox-news/person/donald-trump fox-news/entertainment/media fox news fnc/politics fnc Charles Creitz article 3f3c8382-c13e-5d9b-b46b-acb4dc8e8cd1

Former Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Lieberman said Monday on “Your World” that former Secretary of State John Kerry made a “terrible mistake” when he spoke last year with Iranian officials.

Lieberman, who also served Connecticut in the U.S. Senate as both a Democrat and later an Independent, added that calls for Kerry to be prosecuted under the Logan Act are “probably overkill.”

“I thought that John Kerry made a terrible mistake in talking to the foreign minister of Iran – almost giving him advice about how to deal with the Trump administration, which is at odds with Iran,” Lieberman told host Neil Cavuto.

“It’s the wrong thing to do. We have one secretary of state at a time.”

Lieberman said President Trump “did the right thing” in removing the United States from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, commonly nicknamed the “Iran Deal.”

Lieberman said that investigating or prosecuting Kerry may be ill-advised because the former Massachusetts senator still has his “freedom of speech.”

“He can say whatever he wants publicly about what the president did with the Iran nuclear agreement,” Lieberman said, maintaining that Kerry’s contact with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif was still a “bad move.”

Lieberman said that going after Kerry on a Logan Act violation would “probably [be] overkill” but that the debate “establishes a principle.”

TRUMP SAYS JOHN KERRY ‘SHOULD BE PROSECUTED’ FOR IRAN CONTACTS

“It’s an important principle for the conduct of our foreign policy and, respectfully, John Kerry violated that principle, which makes a lot of sense,” he said.

“To think about prosecuting him, we ought to just let it go,” he said.

Lieberman said Kerry should consider how he would feel if former Secretaries of State Condoleezza Rice and Colin Powell acted in a similar manner to his overtures.

Last week, President Trump accused  Kerry of breaking the law by meeting with Iranian officials last year — and went so far as to say he should be prosecuted under the Logan Act.

“You know John Kerry speaks to them a lot, and John Kerry tells them not to call. That’s a violation of the Logan Act, and frankly he should be prosecuted on that,” Trump told reporters at the White House.

“But my people don’t want to do anything, only the Democrats do that kind of stuff. If it were the opposite way, they’d prosecute him under the Logan Act,” he said.

CNN’s Chris Cillizza mocked for ‘analysis’ pairing 2020 Dems to ‘Game of Thrones’ characters

CNN editor-at-large Chris Cillizza was the subject of ridicule over his “analysis” that paired the Democratic candidates running for president in 2020 to characters from the HBO hit series “Game of Thrones.”

“What else… has lots of characters and drama with an uncertain ending? (Amazing segue, right???) Why, the 2020 Democratic presidential primary campaign, of course!” Cillizza wrote, later adding a disclaimer that many of the “Game of Thrones” characters are “murderers” and “horrible people,” uring readers that they “shouldn’t take this literally.”

Cillizza matched former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke with Jaime Lannister (played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), arguing that both were “born to do this” and struggled with “deeper internal conflict about who they are and whether they are doing the right thing.” He then matched former Vice President Joe Biden with “Game of Thrones” villainess Cersei Lannister (played by Lena Headey), insisting they were both “de facto incumbents” and that they “know their enemies are coming for them.”

He paired California Sen. Kamala Harris with the Mother of Dragons Daenerys Targaryen (played by Emilia Clarke) because they both “have lived up to the hype” but pointed to the potential fear that they “represent too much change for a staid world.” South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg was paired with Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) since they were previously “unheralded and ignored” but are now “the axis on which the story spins.”

FANS SAY ‘GAME OF THRONES’ HAS ANOTHER EDITING BLUNDER BUT HBO EXPLAINS ERROR NEVER MADE IT TO AIR

Other notable matchups include Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Arya Stark (played by Maisie Williams), California Rep. Eric Swalwell and Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish (played by Aidan Gillen), Massachsetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Brienne of Tarth (played by Gwendoline Christie), and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and Maester Aemon Targaryen (played by Peter Vaughan, who passed away in 2016).

The analysis, which was published Sunday hours before the penultimate episode of “Game of Thrones” aired that night, was ratio’d on Twitter, meaning it received more replies than likes and retweets.

Many ripped Cillizza’s piece, suggesting it is proof that journalism is “dying.”

Former Rep. Issa: Schiff knows he’s been ‘disingenuous’ about Trump-Russia claims

Former Rep. Darrell Issa said Monday on “Outnumbered Overtime” that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff knows he was “disingenuous” when he claimed he had evidence that President Trump colluded with Russia.

Issa claimed that rather than admit the fact, his fellow Californian is instead pivoting and working toward the “destruction of the president.”

“The Trump administration has decided to say a blanket ‘no’ to any kind of oversight whatsoever. No witnesses, no documents, no nothing,” Schiff, a Democrat, said in an ABC News interview on Sunday.

Schiff claimed Trump is asserting executive privilege power over things “he knows there is no basis for.”

“We are going to fight it. We are fighting it,” he said.

TRUMP WARNS IRAN, SAYS COUNTRY WILL ‘SUFFER GREATLY’ IF IT DOES ‘ANYTHING’ AMID TENSIONS

Issa said that Schiff failed to produce evidence the president colluded with Russian actors in regard to his 2016 election victory and is now badgering the administration.

“Instead, he has shifted to the destruction of the president,” Issa said, adding that it is important for the public to understand that Congress’ oversight ability does not come from the Constitution.

“We have it because of the necessity to know that’s in order to legislate. As a result, the courts have always held that there has to be a legislative purpose,” Issa said, adding that House Ways & Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal’s, D-Mass., ongoing attempts to acquire Trump’s tax returns do not meet that standard.

Host Harris Faulkner noted that Neal recently subpoenaed Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig for the documents.

Issa said some of the Democrats’ actions echo the “Bills of Attainder” used by leaders like English King Henry VIII in the 1500s.

Issa said that the king passed laws targeting an individual or a group rather than the public at-large.

“That is exactly what’s happening,” he said. “This [effort] to demand ten years of the president’s tax records, it’s not about the next president, it’s about this president.”

Howard Stern on his infamous Trump interviews: ‘There was no filter’

Radio legend Howard Stern opened up about his infamous interviews with Donald Trump in a revealing sit-down with “Good Morning America” co-anchor George Stephanopoulos.

Stern is making the media rounds to promote his new book, “Howard Stern Comes Again,” which frequently delves into his interviews and relationship with the president.

AARON RODGERS’ ‘GAME OF THRONES’ CAMEO IN PENULTIMATE EPISODE CAUSES SOCIAL MEDIA FRENZY

Stern interviewed Trump dozens of times on his radio program over the years, telling Stephanopoulos Trump “was a big character on my show.”

“Donald Trump, hands down, whenever you put him on the air, now, this is before he was running for president, he was an open book,” Stern said. “He would say anything. And you know, oddly enough — during the campaign and even now, people quote these interviews that I did with him.”

Stern said he believes it is “unfair” that some in the media have taken Trump’s quotes from The Howard Stern Show out of context.

He pointed to the outrage over Trump’s remark in a 1997 interview about dating in the 1980s being “his personal Vietnam.”

“It was in a very joking scenario. He was not comparing his life to a Vietnam vet. It was ‘Ha-ha-ha and this and that,'” Stern said. “When journalists took it and made it serious, I thought it was a little bit unfair.”

He added that when Trump appeared on this show, “there was no filter.”

Stephanopoulos asked Stern if he believes he helped get Trump elected, to which the self-described king of all media replied, “Absolutely.”

“The way I helped Donald was I let him come on and be a personality. Whether you liked him or not, people related to him as a human being,” Stern said, adding that he wishes he had been able to do the same for his 2016 presidential pick, Hillary Clinton.

“I thought that perhaps if she came on my show, we could’ve stripped away some of the pomp and circumstance or the tightness that comes with running for president and, like Donald, she could’ve been seen in a different light.”

BBC’s Danny Baker on comparing royal baby Archie to a chimp: ‘I f–ked up. Badly’

Shamed British broadcaster Danny Baker whined Friday about having “the worst days of my life” after getting fired for comparing new royal baby Archie to a chimp.

The 61-year-old’s tweet of the ape in smart clothes with the caption “Royal baby leaves hospital” sparked outrage because of the clear racist undertones, with Duchess of Sussex Meghan, 37, being mixed-race.

The celebrity radio and TV host was swiftly booted by the BBC on Thursday — then griped at length about his misfortune on Friday.

In a tweetstorm supposedly offering apologies — admitting, “I f–ked up. Badly.” — the radio star’s tone suggested he still felt wronged, complaining of how he was “paying the price” for an innocent but “regrettable blunder.”

“Following one of the worst days of my life I just want to formally apologize for the outrage I caused and explain how I got myself into this mess,” Baker started his tweets. “I chose the wrong photo to illustrate a joke. Disastrously so.”

Insisting he just wanted to “lampoon privilege,” he claims he only realized the racial connotations when followers almost instantly pointed out that newborn royal Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was mixed-race.

“Waves of panic and revulsion washed over me. F–k, what had I done?” he wrote, admitting that “the centuries slurs equating simians and people of color” was “racism at it’s basest.”

“I am aware black people do not need a white man to tell them this. Deleting it immediately and apologizing for the awful gaffe I even foolishly tried to make light of it,” he wrote, clarifying, “My situation that is, not the racism involved.”

“Too late and here I am,” he complained.

He insisted he understands “all of the clamor and opprobrium” he received, claiming, “I am not feeling sorry for myself. I f–ked up. Badly.”

Still, he ended the tweets by saying, “I am now paying the price for this crass & regrettable blunder and rightly so. Probably even this final word from me will extend the mania. (‘Dog whistle’ anyone?)”
