Media outlets mum on Bloomberg News policy to investigate Trump, not Democrats, study shows

Bloomberg News’ controversial decision to investigate President Trump, but not his political opponents, has been largely ignored by the mainstream media, according to a new study.

Bloomberg News announced last week that it wouldn’t investigate its namesake owner, Mike Bloomberg, while he runs for president, or any other Democratic presidential candidate for that matter, but would continue to investigate President Trump.

Media Research Center director of media analysis Tim Graham monitored ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS since Bloomberg officially announced his candidacy on Nov. 24 through Tuesday afternoon and reported they had “failed to utter a single word – positive or negative or neutral – on their major morning or evening or Sunday interview shows” regarding Bloomberg’s policy.

The decision to avoid investigating 2020 Democratic presidential candidates sparked backlash and confusion, including former Bloomberg Washington, D.C. bureau chief Megan Murphy, who slammed the initiative in a series of scathing tweets.

Bloomberg News’ new policy prompted Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign manager Brad Parscale to announce on Monday that Bloomberg reporters would no longer receive credentials to rallies or campaign events because ‘they have declared their bias openly.”

Graham wrote that ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS didn’t even find time to mention Trump’s campaign decision, either.

ABC’s “World News Tonight,” Good Morning America,” “This Week,” NBC’s “Nightly News,” “Today,” “Meet the Press,” CBS’ “Evening News,” “CBS This Morning,” “Face the Nation” and “PBS NewsHour” all failed to mention Bloomberg News’ decision or the Trump campaign’s reaction, according to Graham.

Bloomberg’s entrance to the race came only 10 weeks before primary voting begins and was considered an unorthodox move that reflects anxiety within the Democratic Party about the strength of its current candidates. As a centrist with deep ties to Wall Street, Bloomberg is expected to struggle among the party’s energized progressive base.

Bloomberg returned to the Democratic party last year after switching his affiliation to Republican in 2001 to run for mayor of New York City, where he served three terms.

Trudeau, Johnson, Macron appear to be mocking Trump in surfaced video from NATO summit

The world’s top leaders at the NATO summit in London appear to be laughing at the expense of President Trump in a video that surfaced on Tuesday night.

In a video shared by the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC), Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and French President Emmanuel Macron are seen with others, including Princess Anne, having a conversation at a reception at the Buckingham Palace about a press conference earlier in the day.

Trump had made an impromptu conference and weighed in on the ongoing impeachment inquiry as well as the fiery exchange he had with Macron over France not taking back any ISIS fighters.

“Is that why you were late?” Boris smirked to Macron.

“He was late because he takes a 40 minute press conference off the top- ‘Oh, ya, ya ya,'” Trudeau said, later adding, “You just watched his team’s jaws drop to the floor.”

TRUMP TALKS UP ‘SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP’ WITH MACRON, HOURS AFTER THREAT TO SLAP TARIFFS ON FRENCH WINE

The video went viral on social media, many assuming the world leaders were talking about Trump.

“Can’t get over this video, both for the fact that POTUS hates the thought of anyone laughing at him and for the fact that he long used “other countries are laughing at us” as an attack against his predecessors,” New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman reacted.

“This happens at every NATO summit with Trump. Every G7. Every G20. The US President is mocked by US allies behind his back,” political commentator Ian Bremmer wrote.

Earlier, Macron and Trump clashed over ISIS fighters.

“I have not spoken to the president about that — would you like some nice ISIS fighters?” he asked Macron, when asked about ISIS fighters from Europe captured in Syria. “I can give them to you, you can take every one you want.”

After Macron’s answer, in which he urged Trump to “be serious” and called for a broader push against ISIS overall, Trump took another swipe.

“This is why he’s a great politician, because that’s one of the greatest non-answers I’ve ever heard,” Trump joked.

Laura Ingraham calls out Dem’s impeachment ‘cooking show’

Laura Ingraham dismissed the House Intelligence Committee impeachment inquiry report Tuesday, comparing the Democrats pursuit to impeach the president to a cooking show gone bad.

“After weeks of hearings and zero conclusive evidence, [Rep. Adam] Schiff unveiled his big report today. Well, his impeachment stew is not exactly flying off the menus, but that’s OK,” Ingraham said on “The Ingraham Angle.” “This recipe just keeps going and going and going. It’s been simmering for two years and it’s still not ready for consumption, but that’s never stopped them before.”

IN FIERY LETTER, WHITE HOUSE DECLARES IT WON’T PARTICIPATE IN NADLER’S HEARING

The House Judiciary Committee will move to the forefront of President Trump’s impeachment inquiry Wednesday morning with a hearing featuring four legal scholars, but no witnesses. Ingraham accused Democrats of “cooking” up the Ukraine controversy in reaction to the failure of the Russia investigation.

“The Democrats needed a new recipe, something that they could whip up quickly before the end of the year. They found just the thing. Ukrainian borsch,” Ingraham said.

The host made the case that Democrats continue to distract and have been unable the prove anything against Trump.

“They know this thing is a dud and it has been all along that despite the rabid charges and hearsay, nothing and I mean, nothing has been proven,” Ingraham said.

Ingraham said that the American people refuse to believe Democrats when it comes to impeachment.

“But as the Democrats will learn shortly, no matter what they throw into their impeachment bouillabaisse, lacking any evidence or bipartisan support,” Ingraham said. “This is a dish the American people will not swallow.”

Charles Hurt: Pundits who said Kamala Harris was the ‘one to beat’ also doubted Trump in 2016

Westlake Legal Group ENC3_132199050823260000 Charles Hurt: Pundits who said Kamala Harris was the 'one to beat' also doubted Trump in 2016 fox-news/us/us-regions/west/california fox-news/shows/ingraham-angle fox-news/politics/elections/presidential-primaries fox-news/politics/elections/democrats fox-news/person/kamala-harris fox-news/media/fox-news-flash fox-news/media fox news fnc/media fnc Charles Creitz c0d32c54-9067-5c95-a85a-a29b81db5b7b article

Fox News contributor Charles Hurt reflected on Sen. Kamala Harris’ 2020 presidential campaign, saying that those in the media who lauded her campaign launch were the same pundits who promised President Trump would lose in the 2016 election.

Hurt, the Washington Times opinion editor, told Laura Ingraham on Tuesday that Harris entered the race to much fanfare.

“Everbody around here for two weeks after she announced — we had to listen to them talk about her: ‘She’s the one to beat,'” he said while being interviewed in “The Ingraham Angle”‘s Washington, D.C. studio.

“They’re the same ones who said Donald Trump would never win in 2016.”

KAMALA HARRIS ZINGS TRUMP AFTER HE MOCKS HER 2020 RACE EXIT: ‘I’LL SEE YOU AT YOUR TRIAL’

Hurt said the true reason the junior senator from California had to bow out of the Democratic primary sweeps is that she is a “faker.”

“The real problem for her is she’s a faker, and she ran against her record,” Hurt said. “When she runs away from all of that, she exposes herself as a faker and a fraud.”

Prior to her Senate tenure, Harris was a prosecutor in California who had handled numerous criminal cases.

To that extent, Fox News contributor and former George W. Bush White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer claimed Harris’ campaign “fell apart” because of the revisiting of “things that she said” in the past on that front.

Later in the interview, Ingraham aired clips of pointed reaction to Harris’ departure from the race by MSNBC host and Harlem, N.Y. civil rights activist Al Sharpton.

Sharpton claimed women like Harris are “held to a different standard — and black women especially.”

“The real problem the Democrats are going to have — the next debate, you have no black [candidate] on that stage,” Sharpton also remarked.

Hurt said he somewhat agreed with Sharpton’s sentiment.

“After years and years of being lectured to by the Democrats about this sort of thing — the optics of it are absolutely terrible,” he said.

Sean Hannity slammed the House Intelligence Committee impeachment inquiry report released Tuesday, calling it “nothing but an insane, convoluted 14,000-word diatribe concocted by their fearless, compromised, corrupt, coward, congenital liar” House Intelligence Committee chairman Adam Schiff.

“The report is chock full of nothing but conspiracy theories, left-wing opinions, conjecture, hearsay, witnesses, complaints about Donald Trump’s foreign policy by people that think they’re more important than a duly elected president and a whole lot of outright lies,” Hannity said on his television program Tuesday.

The host criticized Schiff for the timing of the report’s release.

“And let’s not lose sight of something very important. Schiff’s rambling report was released just hours before the first official proceeding,” Hannity said. “There’s no time to mount any legal defense, President Trump isn’t even in the country, and they knew that, too.”

Hannity continued to criticize Schiff’s credibility and his role in the report.

“A congenital liar compromised. Adam Schiff, who conducted the investigation, wrote the report,” Hannity said. “He is a known repeated congenital liar. He lied repeatedly about Trump Russia collusion.”

The Democratic-controlled House Judiciary Committee will move to the forefront of President Trump’s impeachment inquiry Wednesday morning with a hearing featuring four legal scholars, but no fact witnesses.

Hannity moved his focus to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler.

“[Nadler is] going to attempt to rush the impeachment sham across the finish line and get it done before Christmas. Like it or not, Nadler’s planning on, well, jamming impeachment down all of our throats,” Hannity said. “They don’t care about the country. They’ve done nothing for us for three years except hate on Donald Trump.”

Devin Nunes on his lawsuit against CNN: Report is the ‘absolute definition of fake news’

Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., discussed his $435 million defamation lawsuit against CNN in an interview Tuesday on “Hannity.

Nunes, the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, told host Sean Hannity a story the network recently published reporting that he met with Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin last year in Vienna in order to dig up “dirt” on former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden was “demonstrably false”

Shokin was the prosecutor Biden mentioned in a now-famous clip, in which he recalled threatening to withhold $1 billion in loan guarantees if then-Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko did not fire him:

DEVIN NUNES SUES CNN FOR $435M OVER ‘FALSE AND DEFAMATORY’ UKRAINE STORY

“‘I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money.’ Well, son of a b-tch, he got fired,” Biden said on the tape.

On “Hannity,” Nunes said he has been to Vienna but that he was not there in 2018, contrary to the story by CNN reporter Vicky Ward.

The congressman showed pictures of himself visiting Benghazi, Libya, and the island nation of Malta during that time.

“When they said I was in Vienna, I was in Benghazi,” he said, adding he was meeting with Libyan military officer General Khalifa Belqasim Haftar, leader of the Libyan National Army.

The visit to Malta, Nunes claimed, was for a “repatriation ceremony” after the remains of a soldier were found in the Mediterranean Sea.

“I was not meeting with Ukrainians in Vienna in December 2018 … They shouldn’t be listening to somebody who’s been indicted. It’s really really bad on their part. It’s reckless,” he added, referring to CNN’s source for the story, Lev Parnas, a man recently indicted by the U.S. government and charged with multiple federal crimes.

DEVIN NUNES DOUBLES DOWN ON PROMISE TO TAKE CNN AND DAILY BEAST TO COURT: ‘IT SHOULD BE FUN’

The CNN story said Parnas’ attorney told them his client was willing to tell Congress about Nunes’ travels. The lawsuit includes a tweet sent by MSNBC justice and security analyst Matthew Miller, who publicly questioned Parnas’ credibility.

“This is [the] absolute definition of fake news,” Nunes said. “We need to go to a jury trial and let a jury decide whether or not what’s been done here is appropriate.”

He accused the Atlanta-based news network of having an “ax to grind” with him over his politics, claiming its reporters have been “chasing [him] around in the Capitol … always with smears, always with lies, always with fake news.”

Nunes added he has held to a personal “rule” governing CNN reporters: “Until you retract [the story], I’m not acknowledging any question that you give me in this lifetime or the next lifetime.”

The 47-page lawsuit, filed in Alexandria, Va. federal court accuses the network of publishing “numerous egregiously false and defamatory” statements about Nunes on Nov. 22, 2019, when Ward reported the claims about Shokin and the meeting in Austria.

The suit also named Ward and primetime host Chris Cuomo, the brother of New York’s governor. Cuomo, the suit alleges, helped promote the article.

An interview on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” grew contentious Tuesday as the host discussed Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., dropping out of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination and the idea that race was responsible for her campaign’s failure.

Carlson opened his show Tuesday with a monologue covering the hype surrounding Harris, her downfall, media cheerleading and their reaction to her announcement Tuesday.  He also addressed recent comments in which she questioned whether or not America is ready for an African-American woman to be president.

GREG GUTFELD UNLOADS ON KAMALA HARRIS: ‘YOU ARE A BIG JERK’

“You know, essentially, is America ready for a woman and a woman of color to be president of the United States?” Harris told “Axios on HBO” in late October in speaking about her electability.

Carlson then asked his guest Quentin James, the founder of The Collective PAC, to explain, “How Kamala Harris losing to Joe Biden among black voters is evidence that America is racist?”

James who called Carlson’s monologue “extremely disrespectful” clashed with the host immediately, blamed institutional racism on Harris’ exit and accused Carlson of hosting “white supremacy” on his show.

“It is the fact that black voters would rather put the question mark of ‘What will white voters do? Will white voters be OK with the black candidate? Maybe not. Maybe it’s only safe to vote for the white guy.’ And that is the country we live in,” James said. “And that is why Kamala Harris was forced out of this campaign, because of institutional racism, the white supremacy we hear on your show just about every week, Tucker.”

“You’re going to have to at least make points that logical people can understand,” Carlson responded. “And I’m going to ask you to explain them.”

The host and guest continued to go back and forth, with Carlson asking James to address the issue and provide examples to back up his analysis and James arguing that he was.

“I don’t want to have a conversation about your super shallow racial views, I want to ask real questions about politics,” Carlson said, ending the interview.

Tucker Carlson: Kamala Harris’ ‘synthetic’ campaign was proof the media can ‘sell almost anything’

Westlake Legal Group 694940094001_6112176108001_6112174956001-vs Tucker Carlson: Kamala Harris' 'synthetic' campaign was proof the media can 'sell almost anything' fox-news/us/us-regions/west/california fox-news/shows/tucker-carlson-tonight fox-news/politics/elections/democrats fox-news/person/kamala-harris fox-news/media/fox-news-flash fox-news/media fox-news/entertainment/media fox news fnc/media fnc f5a6ae81-484b-55a3-9d2f-6c7d89aa5316 Charles Creitz article

Tucker Carlson looked back on Sen. Kamala Harris’, D-Calif., 2020 presidential campaign Tuesday, calling it proof that the mainstream media can sell the public almost anything, at least for a little while.

During his opening monologue on “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” the host posited that Harris’ bid to unseat President Trump was, “for a brief, but electric moment, the single most profound and transformative — if entirely scripted and corporate — political movement in the history of this country.”

He pointed to numerous political pundits and cable news hosts who heralded Harris’ campaign, which kicked off in January with a large rally in Oakland.

Washington Post columnist E.J. Dionne said at the time that Harris sounded like former President Barack Obama, while CNN’s Kyung Lah claimed Harris “wants to speak truth and to defend the America she says she knows and believes in.”

KAMALA HARRIS DROPS OUT OF PRESIDENTIAL RACE

MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell had called Harris “one of the top-tier candidates” and his colleague Chris Matthews claimed Trump “must be envious as hell” of her rally crowds.

To those and other commentators, Carlson said their comments are “a measure of the media’s ability — at least in the short term — to sell almost anything, even something as synthetic … as the Kamala Harris For President campaign.

Carlson noted that, early in the race, Harris appeared to dominate a debate via a viral exchange with former Vice President Joe Biden. The former Delaware senator had recently discussed his work with segregationist former Sens. James Eastland, D-Miss., and Herman Talmadge, D-Ga. In 1975, Biden had worked with the late Sen. Jesse Helms, R-N.C., on an anti-busing measure.

During that debate, Harris told Biden she had been a student at a then-recently-integrated school and had depended on busing.

In the wake of the exchange, Carlson said, Harris enjoyed a fleeting spike in support.

“But soon, it evaporated. Voters realized that making Joe Biden look bad isn’t actually much of an accomplishment — it’s not that hard,” he said.

During his monologue, Carlson added that Harris had blamed her campaign woes on the “elephant in the room” — in that American may not be ready for “a woman, and a woman of color, to be president of the United States.”

“Joe Biden, who is white, is getting far more support from black voters than Kamala Harris ever did — so that means that America is racist? How exactly does that work?” the host asked.

“Logic is bigotry.”

Brit Hume says Democrats’ pursuit of impeachment is ‘slightly unserious’

Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume assessed the impeachment inquiry Tuesday, calling Democrats’ quest to impeach President Trump “slightly unserious.”

“The failure to subpoena [national security adviser] John Bolton, who is widely believed to be potentially the most important witness they could call, the fact that they did not even subpoena him,” Hume said on “The Story with Martha MacCallum. “Why didn’t they? They didn’t because they thought it would take too much time to prevail to get him to testify because they’d have to go to court to enforce their subpoena. Well, that’s what you would do if you were very serious.”

The Democrat-led House Intelligence Committee voted late Tuesday to adopt and issue its scathing report on the findings from the panel’s impeachment inquiry, accusing President Trump of misusing his office to seek foreign help in the 2020 presidential race.

The 13-9 party-line vote on the 300-page report was a necessary step before the document could be transferred to the House Judiciary Committee, which is scheduled to begin taking up the case with its first formal impeachment hearing Wednesday morning.

Hume questioned the message that Democrats were pushing, noting that if the president’s actions were dire, they’d pursue every opportunity to impeach him.

“But if you’re up against a timetable and the timetable clearly is the upcoming election season, which as you know, if you’re dealing with something this grave, you think, you know, you’d take whatever steps you had to to get the best evidence available,” Hume said. “And that’s not happening here.”

“So, I mean, this is something slightly unserious about the way this has been pursued,” Hume added.

Al Green on impeachment support: Martin Luther King ‘didn’t march on Washington because of polls’

Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, an early proponent of impeaching President Trump, said he hoped more Republican lawmakers would be on board with the current inquiry but added that past leaders didn’t check public polling before acting on their beliefs.

Green told Neil Cavuto on “Your World” the impeachment inquiry could go beyond the allegations involving Ukraine, with congressional leaders looking at possible charges of abuse of power and “obstruction” of the House probe.

Cavuto asked Green for his thoughts on continuing with impeachment despite no House Republican support. The host also referenced votes by Reps. Collin Peterson, D-Minn, and Jeff Van Drew, D-N.J., against the initial impeachment proceeding.

“I would like for it to be bipartisan,” Green responded before adding that he believes the situation shows that “moral imperative trumps political expediency.”

“You do this because Dr. King was right. He said: ‘The time is always right to do that which is right’.”

Green said King did not “wait on polls” to decide whether or not to march on Washington, D.C. in support of civil rights.

“Rosa Parks didn’t take her seat on a bus because of polls,” Green continued, going on to reference Rep. John Lewis’, D-Ga., participation in the 1965 “Bloody Sunday” march in Alabama in favor of African-American voting rights.

“John Lewis didn’t cross the Edmund Pettus Bridge because of polls,” Green said. “We have to do things because it is right, even if it is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular.”

Green also compared Trump to former President Andrew Johnson, a Tennessee Democrat who was impeached in 1868.

“This president is quite similar to that president,” he said. “Andrew Johnson was impeached for his… incitive behavior.”

During the interview, Cavuto asked Green if Trump should be considered to be engaging in obstructive behavior if he deems the House proceedings to be unfair and that of a “kangaroo court.”

“The president is entitled to characterize things as he chooses,” Green responded. “He often mischaracterizes things, and that would be a mischaracterization. I think the House has a duty to do this.”
