Jesse Watters: Debra Messing needs ‘Twitter vacation’ after retweeting claim Ivanka is a ‘national security threat’

“Will & Grace” co-star Debra Messing should take a hiatus from social media after taking a second jab at the Trump family in two weeks, according to Jesse Watters.

Messing retweeted a message from author Sarah Kendzior that alleged Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner are “national security threats,” Watters said Wednesday on “The Five.”

“I think Debra Messing should just stay off Twitter,” he said.

“Take the ‘L’ from last week, cool off, listen to your group — your entourage knows what’s best. I would go on a little hiatus — call it a Twitter vacation — then come back refreshed and then you can kind of dip your toes back in.”

COMEDIAN MICHAEL LOFTUS: ‘WILL & GRACE’ STARS WEREN’T MISUNDERSTOOD IN ANTI-TRUMP TWEETS

Initially, Russian-born world chess champion Garry Kasparov — a critic of both President Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin — tweeted about the departure of National Security Adviser John Bolton.

You may disagree with Ambassador John Bolton’s beliefs more than I do, but at least he believed in something other than the cult of Trump. Autocrats don’t trust anyone they don’t control 100 percent,” Kasparov tweeted.

Kendzior retweeted Kasparov, writing: “This is exactly right. It’s also why way more attention needs to be paid to Ivanka and Kushner, who are both national security threats.”

Messing retweeted Kenzior’s and Kasparov’s chain.

On “The Five,” host Juan Williams said celebrities of any political ideology get paid too much attention when they make controversial or politically charged remarks.

“I’m on their side of the aisle and I think these people have no relevance to a political conversation,” he said, adding the same is true for right-leaning celebrities Jon Voight, Clint Eastwood and Kid Rock.

Last week, Messing made headlines for appearing to seek the names of donors from a Beverly Hills, Calif. Trump campaign fundraiser.

9/11 outrage: ‘The View’ host Whoopi Goldberg slams members of Congress who skipped moment of silence

“The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg called out members of Congress who skipped an event honoring victims of the 9/11 terror attacks on Wednesday.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other members of Congress observed a moment of silence earlier in the day to mark the 18th anniversary of the tragic events, but the outspoken Goldberg wasn’t satisfied with the turnout.

“Not everyone is honoring moments of silence, apparently only 26 percent of House members showed up to the moment of silence on the steps on the Capitol this morning,” Goldberg said after a conversation about public school students honoring the victims.

Co-host Meghan McCain called the lack of attendance “shameful,” but Goldberg wasn’t finished explaining why remembering 9/11 victims is crucial for all Americans.

“We don’t know why they weren’t there, but this might not have been the right day to screw around with the optics. I’m just saying, this is a moment that affected everyone in this country. Not just New Yorkers. They came for America,” Goldberg said. “They hit us here first and then went other places to take us, try to take us down. That affected many more people than just us here, and this is an American issue.”

Goldberg told House members that every one of them should have attended the moment of silence.

“Every one of you should be out there, honoring what you didn’t have to do, that they did,” Goldberg said.

Morning ceremonies were also held Wednesday at Ground Zero, the Pentagon and at the Flight 93 National Memorial near Shanksville, Pa.

“For every American who lived through that day, the September 11 attack is seared into our soul,” President Trump said during a ceremony at the Pentagon. “It was a day filled with shock, horror, sorrow and righteous fury.”

Geraldo Rivera: NRA and San Francisco board ‘both in the distraction business’

Westlake Legal Group Geranldo-Hannity_FOX Geraldo Rivera: NRA and San Francisco board 'both in the distraction business' fox-news/us/crime fox-news/travel/vacation-destinations/san-francisco fox-news/shows/hannity fox-news/politics/state-and-local fox-news/media/fox-news-flash fox-news/media fox news fnc/media fnc Charles Creitz b3c133a4-16ed-5a8a-8b9f-a143fd571fda article

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors and the National Rifle Association are both in the “distraction business,” according to Geraldo Rivera.

The board recently declared the NRA a domestic terrorist organization in a move that Rivera asserted was an effort to draw attention away from the city’s problems with homelessness and drugs. The NRA responded by suing the governing body to distract from the gun violence epidemic, Rivera claimed Tuesday on “Hannity.

“The NRA and the San Francisco Board of Supervisors are tailor-made for each other,” he said.

NRA SUES SAN FRANCISCO OVER ‘DOMESTIC TERRORIST ORGANIZATION’ DESIGNATION

“They are both in the distraction business. The Board of Supervisors … declares them domestic terrorists to distract us from this awful epidemic of homelessness and urban anarchy.

“The NRA is suing San Francisco and the Board of Supervisors to distract from the undeniable epidemic of gun violence.”

In addition, Rivera pointed to the fact the suit will be heard by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, an often reliably liberal San Francisco-based bench, he said.

“How much of a chance do you think that lawsuit has in the liberals’ favorite federal circuit?” the Fox News correspondent-at-large asked. “It won’t even survive a motion for summary judgment.”

In response, former NYPD officer and ex-Secret Service Agent Dan Bongino rebuffed Rivera’s claim.

“San Francisco just declared a group of law-abiding gun owners and an organization that defends the Second Amendment in our Bill of Rights [a terrorist organization] and you’re saying this is a distraction for them defending themselves?” he asked.

Rivera added President Trump is right to criticize the issues that are prevalent in cities like San Francisco, and the “failure of the local Democratic regimes,” but added the federal government and local boards are working together.

CNN’s Don Lemon says he has a ‘No Trump’ policy with his fiancé outside of work

CNN anchor Don Lemon said on Tuesday night that he has a “No Trump” policy with his fiancé whenever he’s not working because he gets overwhelmed by President Trump.

During his appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Lemon was asked about the president’s recent Twitter attack against him where he called him the “dumbest man on television” following CNN’s Democratic debates in July, which he was one of the moderators. He responded by brushing off his shoulder.

“I don’t even follow him anymore,” Lemon told Jimmy Kimmel. “Because it’s too much. You can be informed without being inundated.”

Lemon later talked about his close relationship with his primetime colleague Chris Cuomo and jokingly suggested that he takes “steroids” after Kimmel asked what Cuomo likes to eat.

Alyssa Milano praises meeting with Ted Cruz, says she’s ‘cautiously optimistic’ for gun reform

Actress/activist Alyssa Milano said she was “cautiously optimistic” after her sitdown with Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Tex., on Tuesday to discuss gun violence.

Milano met Cruz in his D.C. office along with Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter was killed in the 2018 Parkland shooting, and gun control activist Ben Jackson and live-streamed the conversation on Facebook, which lasted over an hour.

Appearing on CNN, the “Charmed” star admitted that she didn’t think the meeting would happen after she and Cruz traded barbs on social media last week.

“I felt like this meeting was important, obviously, to reach across the aisle, to have a civil discussion on this matter, to look at him in the eye and say you’re on the wrong side of this,” Milano explained.

Milano told CNN’s Chris Cuomo that she believed that Cruz “understands the magnitude” of the current gun debate amid the mass shootings and noted how they clashed on the subject of background checks.

“I’m cautiously optimistic that he knows the issue and hopeful, I guess, that he’s willing to do something about it?” Milano elaborated. “And the most important thing, I think, on this issue is that this is not even a bipartisan issue, it’s a non-partisan issue.”

Milano later added that the Republican lawmaker didn’t make any promises but agreed that there is a “serious problem,” which she considered to be a “good first step.”

“Look, we need to talk to each other. We need to have these conversations,” she continued. “They’re awkward, they’re uncomfortable, we fumble, we can’t find the right words, but if we all speak from the heart and lead through service- service not to our political party but to our country and to each other, then maybe we can get something done here. Then maybe we can fix the problems we are having right now.”

Watters on CNN spy report: Media, not Trump, is putting national security at risk

CNN attempted to show that President Trump has endangered national security but actually showed that the media is doing just that.

That was the claim of co-host Jesse Watters as “The Five” discussed a disputed CNN report on the CIA allegedly removing a spy from Russia because President Trump had mishandled classified information.

Both the CIA and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo pushed back on the reporting, with Pompeo, who previously led the CIA, specifically saying it was “factually wrong.” CIA Director of Public Affairs Brittany Bramell similarly called the network’s narrative “simply false.”

“Again, it’s not Trump putting national security at risk. … It’s the media,” Watters said on Tuesday.

CNN’S JIM SCIUTTO UNDER FIRE FOR ‘SIMPLY FALSE,’ ‘INCREDIBLY PREMATURE’ ANTI-TRUMP REPORT CONDEMNED BY CIA

After Watters claimed that CNN potentially put lives in danger, “Five” co-host Dana Perino said people’s lives could still be at risk because of the network’s reporting.

More from Media

“Let’s be clear: Lives could still be in danger, maybe even more so now,” Perino said. “This is supposed to be a news story, not an episode of ‘The Americans,’” Perino said, referring to a dramatic FX series about Russian spies living in the United States in the 1980s.

Co-host Kennedy said the botched story exhibited a bigger problem with CNN’s reporting, in that it was too eager to find damning information about the president.

“Right now, for places like CNN, it’s really ‘choose-your-own-adventure,'” she said. “And if you get some facts that are not correlated or really directly tied to the ultimate conclusion, you just go ahead and make it up.

“You just go ahead and craft a bridge out of your own intentions regardless of their truth or falsehood and that’s what’s most dangerous. And I think part of it is this desire to bring the president down and really pin something on him because your intuition is telling you that something is not right — could be your hurt feelings — however, going ahead and just throwing anything at him, regardless of facts, it’s dangerous.”

Debra Messing retweets post calling Ivanka, Jared ‘national security threats’

Outspoken actress Debra Messing retweeted a post on Tuesday describing President Trump’s daughter Ivanka and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, as “national security threats.”

The tweet came just after Trump announced that he had asked for former National Security Adviser John Bolton’s resignation amid strong disagreements he’s had with the administration.

Garry Kasparov, chairman of the Human Rights Foundation, claimed on Twitter that Trump would “fire and drive people away until at last he is surrounded only by people who care only for him and what he can do for them and not about the country at all.”

Writer Sarah Kendzior responded by claiming that Ivanka Trump and Kushner would likely stay by Trump’s side.

Messing, a vociferous critic of the president, has received attention for recently calling on The Hollywood Reporter to publish the names of people attending a fundraiser for Trump.

She also received criticism for praising a sign that called black Trump voters mentally ill — something for which she later apologized.

Messing, on Tuesday, also retweeted conservative writer David Frum, who blasted national security officials for refusing to call out the president’s alleged incompetence.

Fox News senior strategic analyst Gen. Jack Keane said he was “disappointed” by CNN’s report that the CIA had pulled a high-level spy out of Russia due to President Trump’s “mishandling” of classified intelligence

“Sometimes when national security is at risk, I think we can draw a line there, and maybe we can draw a line here,” Keane told Dana Perino on “The Daily Briefing.”

Keane said that to have an “asset” buried “so deep inside the Kremlin” reporting to the CIA is “great intelligence work,” though when it gets compromised, it’s very “unfortunate.”

“It’s unfortunate that we’re having to deal with this issue, in my judgment,” Keane said.

CIA SLAMS CNN’S ‘MISGUIDED’ AND ‘SIMPLY FALSE’ REPORTING ON ALLEGED CIA SPY’S EXTRACTION FROM KREMLIN

The White House on Tuesday rebuked CNN for the disputed report, saying it was wrong and could put lives at risk.

“CNN’s reporting is not only incorrect, it has the potential to put lives in danger,” Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham said in a statement.

CNN is standing by its reporting that the U.S. pulled its source from Russia in 2017, in part out of concern that the Trump administration had “repeatedly mishandled classified intelligence and could contribute to exposing the covert source as a spy.”

However, both the White House and the CIA slammed the reporting, with the latter calling the reporting “misguided” and “simply false.”

The New York Times published a piece largely contradicting CNN’s story. According to The Times, CIA officials “made the arduous decision in late 2016 to offer to extract the source from Russia” — weeks before Trump took office.

Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew McCarthy said Tuesday that ex-Trump administration National Security Adviser Michael Flynn should never have been prosecuted or investigated.

Appearing on “America’s Newsroom,” McCarthy told host Bill Hemmer that he really thought “President Trump should have pardoned him” and “maybe the politics of 2020 makes [it] difficult to do at this point.”

“This is something, Bill, that’s really — it ought to be — straightforward and it’s gotten very complicated in this case,” McCarthy said.

On Tuesday Flynn’s legal team indicated in federal court that they are seeking to have the case against him thrown out. The team is accusing the prosecution of “egregious conduct and suppression” of potentially exculpatory evidence.

FLYNN LAWYER ACCUSES PROSECUTORS OF ‘EGREGIOUS CONDUCT,’ HIDING EXCULPATORY EVIDENCE

In a status conference in federal court in Washington, Flynn’s lead defense attorney, Sidney Powell, said: “There never would have been a plea to begin with if the government had disclosed Brady information about what it knew before the plea agreement.”

The “Brady material” complaint is in reference to the Supreme Court case Brady v. Maryland, which established the government’s obligation to turn over all exculpatory evidence. The accusation came as both sides have squabbled over a sentencing date. After months of delays, prosecutors have said they are ready to proceed to sentencing. On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan indicated he would like to set a tentative sentencing date of Dec. 18.

“There is far more at stake here than sentencing,” Powell said. “There were stunning failures to produce Brady material, going back to July of 2017.”

Prosecutors, though, have strongly rejected that assertion, saying “the government has exceeded its discovery and disclosure obligations in this matter,” including providing Flynn with more than 22,000 pages of documents.

FLYNN LAWYER AT WAR WITH MUELLER TEAM

Flynn in 2017 pleaded guilty to providing false statements to the FBI during an interview about his contacts with the former Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, as part of former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.

Powell, who has accused the Justice Department of withholding documents critical to Flynn’s defense, is demanding access to classified materials she claims the government has blocked them from viewing.

Those materials include FBI documents surrounding the actions of Bruce Ohr, a former high-ranking official at the Department of Justice who had multiple contacts with the author of the infamous Trump dossier.

On “America’s Newsroom,” McCarthy explained: “The bottom line is, in every criminal case the government has an obligation to disclose to the defense any material exculpatory information that’s in the government’s files.”

“So, what you had here was a switch of judges and when the new judge came in even though the plea had already happened, he issued a discovery order demanding that the government turn over any exculpatory information that it hadn’t turned over,” he said.
