Chicago Bears’ Cordarrelle Patterson has interesting thoughts on being a Super Bowl champion

Chicago Bears wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson is coming into the new season about five months removed from winning his first Super Bowl ring with the New England Patriots.

The aura of winning the big game has apparently run its course as Patterson gave a curious answer to a question from Redline Media about what it feels like to be a Super Bowl champion.

“Honestly, that Super Bowl don’t mean s–t to me, because I’m in a new role right now,” Patterson said. “I’m on a new team, so it’s a new opportunity for me to bring my legacy and live on to another team. So, whatever happened last year in the past, that’s in the past. I’m trying to just move forward.”

In his only season with the Patriots, Patterson caught 21 passes for 247 yards and three touchdowns. In the playoffs, he had four receptions for 32 yards and zero touchdowns.

NFL stars Keenan Allen and DeMarcus Lawrence were among those who expressed their outrage Monday over their “Madden” rating in the newest edition of the popular video game series.

Allen, who is the top wide receiver for the Los Angeles Chargers, was certainly not pleased. In “Madden 20,” Allen is rated as an 89 – the third highest-rated Chargers player in the game behind quarterback Philip Rivers and running back Melvin Gordon III.

“I will not be playing ‘Madden 20’ period.” Allen said in a video posted on social media. “Number one, my overall is an 89. My short route running is a 91. My medium route running is an 88. What? Like … My deep route running is a 75. Bro, who’s making this s—t dog? Who did this?”

Lawrence, who recorded 10.5 sacks with the Dallas Cowboys a season ago, also tweeted his displeasure with the video game’s rating system.

He tweeted that “Cowboys nation is on ‘Madden’ strike.”

New York Giants safety Kamrin Moore arrested for punching woman, stepping on her neck: police

New York Giants player Kamrin Moore cold-cocked a paramour and stepped on her neck so hard it left bruises during a love-triangle brawl outside his home on Thursday that led to his arrest and suspension, according to the team and law-enforcement authorities.

“New York Giants safety Kamrin Moore was arrested over the weekend in Linden, New Jersey, for an alleged domestic violence-related incident. Moore has been suspended by the team pending further investigation,” the Giants tweeted Monday.

The victim, identified in a criminal complaint as “H.P.,” had been seeing the grid-ironer since January and decided to drop by his New Jersey house Thursday after he did not respond to her text messages.

But when she got there, another woman — identified by Moore’s lawyers as his “girlfriend” — came out to confront her and the pair began scrapping, according to the criminal complaint filed in Linden City municipal court.

Moore, 22, first “watched while they assaulted each other” but then, when gal-pal H.P. fell to the ground, the 200-lb. safety “placed his foot on her neck and applied pressure,” the court papers charge.

She managed to free herself and then shoved Moore for choking her — and that’s when he cold-cocked her on the left side of her face, the papers allege.

A friend took H.P. to Rahway Hospital, where she was treated for bruises and abrasions on her face and neck, according to the complaint.

Moore was charged with aggravated assault and aggravated assault as a domestic-violence incident, court papers say.

A San Francisco 49ers defensive back released a song Friday dedicated to former quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Antone Exum revealed in June he would be releasing the track to address police brutality and perceived injustices in the police force. The song “Officer Kaepernick” was released on the website HipHopDX.

CHIEFS STAR TYREEK HILL DENIES CHILD ABUSE, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CLAIMS IN NEW RECORDING: ‘I DIDN’T DO NOTHING’

“I think it was one or two years ago,” Exum explained to the website about the track’s origins. “I would say probably one or one and a half years ago when I wrote this record, but it wasn’t recent at all. It was, actually, going to be a throwaway, but for some reason, I didn’t throw it away because it just meant…it goes.”

Exum said his song isn’t about all police officers.

“Kaepernick did not take a knee for our good serving soldiers like yourself or even the good cops out there that we have,” he said. “Good cops, the government officials, good judges, good… prison workers like all of that stuff. That’s not why he took a knee he simply was taking a knee for the catastrophic instances that went down.”

Exum, who is going into his third season with the Niners, told TMZ Sports in June he wasn’t concerned about any potential backlash from the song.

Kaepernick hasn’t played a down of football since the 2016 season. He created a firestorm when he took a knee during the national anthem in order to protest perceived racial injustices in the U.S.

Former Super Bowl MVP Mark Rypien told officer he struck his wife after incident in car: report

Former Super Bowl MVP Mark Rypien acknowledged to a Washington state officer late last month that he had struck his wife during a domestic dispute, according to a police report.

Rypien pleaded not guilty on July 1 to a charge of domestic violence against his wife, Danielle. He was charged with four-degree assault and was released without bail. The former Washington Redskins quarterback allegedly struck his wife in his car while in Spokane on June 30, a witness told police.

Rypien acknowledged hitting his wife and told officers that his wife covered his eyes as he drove and she got the “wind knocked out of her” after he pushed her hands away, The Spokesman-Review reported, citing a police report.

Later when his wife laid in the grass holding her stomach and struggling to breathe, Rypien reportedly demanded that she told the truth.

“Did you hit her?” Spokane officer Todd Brownlee asked Rypien, according to the report.

“Yes, I did,” Rypien replied.

Chris Bugbee, Rypien’s attorney, told the Associated Press in an email Thursday that his client struck his wife in self-defense.

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS’ ELANDON ROBERTS ACCUSES TEXAS AUTHORITIES OF HARASSMENT AFTER TRAFFIC STOP: REPORT

“He shoved Danielle back into the passenger seat with his right arm and elbow hard enough to ensure that he would move her out of the way,” Bugbee said in a statement. “So when the officer informed Mark that a witness had seen a man strike Danielle in the car, he told the officer that he was the person. There is no doubt that he struck her when he moved her.”

Mark and Danielle Rypien both said they were cooperating with authorities.

Rypien, who played for five different teams over 11 NFL seasons, said last year that he believes he has Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) caused by repeated concussions he suffered during his years playing football.

“I suffer from a complex stew of mental health conditions – dark places, depression, anxiety, addictions,” he said in an interview with KHQ6 last year, “brought about from dozens of concussions and thousands of subconcussive injuries.”

OAKLAND RAIDERS’ JALEN RICHARD VOWS TO KEEP CHILDREN UNVACCINATED, CITES HIS OWN ‘RESEARCH’

Rypien said that in the past he has attempted suicide and hired prostitutes as a result of his condition. He was a lead plaintiff in a successful lawsuit brought against the NFL by thousands of former players for its handling of head injuries in 2013.

Last year, Rypien told the Spokesman-Review that he was also involved in a domestic violence incident with his wife in 2017, saying he “got angry and I threw her on the bed a couple of times.” He and his wife blamed a medication change for his behavior.

Rypien played six seasons with Washington and was named the most valuable player of Super Bowl XXVI when he threw for 292 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Redskins over the Buffalo Bills, 37-24. It was the franchise’s third Super Bowl under then-head coach Joe Gibbs and their most recent title.

CTE can only be diagnosed by examining a person’s brain after their death. Individuals who play football or other contact sports, as well as some military members, are thought to be at the highest risk for the condition due to repeated blows to the head, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Numerous NFL players have reported a wide variety of problems related to CTE, including homelessness, erratic behavior, suicide and other early deaths.

Then he made the strange argument that, after 20 years of marriage, he didn’t need the appendage anymore.
