Hall of Fame running back Floyd Little, who starred for the Denver Broncos in the 1970s, has been diagnosed with cancer, according to a fundraiser set up by a former teammate last week.

Pat Killorin, who played with Floyd at Syracuse in the 1960s, set up the fundraiser to help pay for the treatment costs.

VIKINGS’ KIRK COUSINS TO THE PEOPLE OF MINNEAPOLIS AFTER GEORGE FLOYD’S DEATH: ‘MY HEART BREAKS FOR OUR CITY’

“Floyd was recently diagnosed with a treatable but aggressive form of cancer. No doubt it will be the toughest fight of his life,” Killorin wrote on the page.

Little, 77, was a three-time All-American at Syracuse from 1964-66. The Broncos selected him No. 6 overall in the 1967 NFL-AFL Draft and he spent his entire career with the team.

Little played for the Broncos from 1967 to 1975. He led the league in rushing in 1971 with 1,133 yards on 284 carries. He led the league in rushing touchdowns with 12 in 1973.

He finished his NFL career with 6,323 rushing yards and 43 rushing touchdowns. He was a five-time Pro Bowler and was named First-Team All-Pro in 1969. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010.

“Floyd’s determination and fortitude has guided him throughout his life,” Syracuse University athletic director John Wildhack said in a statement. “We know he will battle this challenge with the same focus. In this battle, he will have all of Orange Nation by his side.”

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson had an idea to give fans a treat at home if they cannot get to the stadium this season because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Jackson said Friday on his teammate Lane Johnson’s “Outside the Lane” YouTube show the NFL should consider putting a mic on players on the field as opposed to broadcasts pumping in artificial crowd noise.

TEXANS’ KENNY STILLS, FREE AGENT ERIC REID RESPOND TO NFL’S STATEMENT ON PROTESTS: ‘SAVE THE BULLS–T’

“It’s going to get crazy, I think they should, though,” the veteran wide receiver said. “They should give the fans the inside to really see what goes on between the white lines. It gets crazy, bro. I know in the trenches it gets crazy, and I know out there on the outside it gets crazy too with the conversations we going back and forth on.”

The NFL plans to start the season on time but has not addressed whether there will be fans in the stadiums.

The Miami Dolphins is one of the teams who has made contingency plans should fans be allowed into Hard Rock Stadium this season.

Dolphins CEO and President Tom Garfinkel revealed the plans on ABC’s “Good Morning America” last month. The mock-ups showed different colored spots around Hard Rock Stadium to designate how far apart fans would need to be away from each other as they enter the stadium.

“We would have times to come in for security at different gates so people would be separated out, in terms of when they enter the stadium,” Garfinkel said. “We would exit the stadium much like a church environment, where each row exits so people aren’t filing out all at the same time in a herd.”

Part of the plan, Garfinkel said, would have fans all wearing masks and order food from their seats. Instead of waiting in line for their food and drinks, they would go upstairs when their orders are ready.

Garfinkel said the plans were not yet finalized.

“When our fans, players and staff are able to return to Hard Rock Stadium, we want them to have peace of mind that we’re doing everything we can to create the safest and healthiest environment possible,” Garfinkel said. “We didn’t want to create our own standard, we wanted to be accountable to the most credible third-party standard that exists.”

Hard Rock Stadium, which was the host site for Super Bowl LIV, can hold 65,000 fans during a single game.

Houston Texans wide receiver Kenny Stills and free-agent defensive back Eric Reid both took shots at NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Saturday after he released a statement on the protests across the U.S.

Goodell’s statement came Saturday as tensions between those protesting police brutality and authorities began to rise further.

ODELL BECKHAM JR. SAYS ‘VIOLENCE IS NOT THE ANSWER’ AMID GEORGE FLOYD DEATH, RIOTS

“The NFL family is greatly saddened by the tragic events across our country,” Goodell wrote. “The protesters’ reactions to these incidents reflect the pain, anger, and frustration that so many of us feel. Our deepest condolences go out to the family of Mr. George Floyd and to those who have lost loved ones, including the families of Ms. Breonna Taylor in Louisville, and Mr. Ahmaud Arbery, the cousin of Tracy Walker of the Detroit Lions.

“As current events dramatically underscore, there remains much more to do as a country and as a league,” Goodell added “These tragedies inform the NFL’s commitment and our ongoing efforts. There remains an urgent need for action. We recognize the power of our platform in communities and as part of the fabric of American society. We embrace that responsibility and are committed to continuing the important work to address these systemic issues together with our players, clubs, and partners.”

Stills and Reid, who have supported free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick by taking a knee during the national anthem before games to protest racial injustice, were not here for Goodell’s statement.

Stills offered a three-word response: “Save the bulls—t.”

Reid tweeted he was “looking forward to ‘Songs of the Season 2.0.’”

Carolina Panthers’ all-time Mount Rushmore: 4 best players in franchise history

The Carolina Panthers, one of the youngest teams in the NFL, quickly climbed to the top to become a fierce competitor — not only in the NFC South, but league-wide.

After several years of bidding and planning, the Panthers were awarded the 29th NFL franchise in 1993. Carolina wasted no time making a name for itself, setting the record for most wins by an expansion team in its 1995 inaugural season after going 7-9. They advanced to the NFC championship game the following season after winning the NFC Western division with a 12-4 record.

Since its birth, Carolina has won six division championships, two conference titles and has made two Super Bowl appearances.

But who would make a Mount Rushmore of Panthers players? Take a look at the list below.

Arguably one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, Steve Smith Sr.’s 13 seasons with the Panthers solidifies his place at the top of the list.

A late-round pick in the 2001 draft, Smith quickly made a name for himself, becoming the NFL leader in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in 2005.

Smith made five Pro Bowls and holds the franchise record for total touchdowns (67), receptions (836) and receiving yards (12,197).

It’s hard to believe that NFL’s 2015 MVP, who led his team to the franchise’s second Super Bowl appearance after going 15-1 in the regular season, was released just five years later and is currently a free agent well into the 2020 offseason.

Regardless, Cam Newton easily makes the Panthers top four players of all time.

The 2010 Heisman Trophy winner was selected No. 1 overall in the 2011 draft by then-owner Jerry Richardson. In his first professional game, Newton wowed after becoming the first rookie quarterback to throw for over 400 yards in a game. He was named NFL Offensive Player of the Year and was selected for the Pro Bowl that same season.

The three-time Pro Bowler made several NFL firsts before constant injuries led to his eventual departure from the Panthers in 2020.

Former All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown is trying to work his way back into the NFL, and he has a Hall of Famer in his corner helping him out and giving him some advice.

“My son came to town to WORK!” Sanders wrote on his Instagram page. “On his Game,on his Life,On his Thoughts,on his Tomorrow & on ANTONIO BROWN! I Love him to life and I can’t wait to witness this comeback Story called A,B & See. I know what I know and I pray u all get to see what I know to be true about ANTONIO BROWN.”

Brown, who posted a video of himself working out last week, only played in one game with the New England Patriots during the 2019-20 NFL season. ESPN reported on May 20 that Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson “would love” for Brown to join the Seahawks, although that move likely wouldn’t happen until July or August.

Over his Hall of Fame worthy career, Brown has seven Pro Bowls and four first-team All-Pro selections, but his off-the-field issues are the main reason why he’s still currently a free agent. He was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women, and he was also charged with assault in April stemming from a January incident with a delivery truck driver.

There may be a team in the NFL willing to take a low-risk on Brown, but he is going to have to prove that he is in the right mindset before any team commits to him.

Several athletes have publicly spoken out condemning the death of George Floyd but for Minnesota Vikings star Kirk Cousins, his support for the people of Minneapolis resonates on a more personal level.

The veteran quarterback took to Instagram on Friday to voice his support for a community he’s been able to call home for the past two seasons.

The Buffalo Bills became the seventh franchise to join the NFL in 1959 and are, to-date, the only team in the league to appear in four consecutive Super Bowls.

Despite reaching what some might consider the peak of success in the early 1990s with four straight appearances, head coach Marv Levy and the dynamic Bills were never able to take home the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Still, the Bills dominated the AFC East in the late 1980s and early 1990s, having won five division titles in six years — an era that current head coach Sean McDermott is hoping to recreate with quarterback Josh Allen

But who would make a Mount Rushmore of Bills players? Take a look at the list below.

Jim Kelly is arguably the best quarterback the Bills have ever had (sorry Josh) as he was force behind every Super Bowl appearance.

The Pennsylvania native was selected in the first round of the 1983 draft by the Bills — a team he had explicitly said he had no desire in playing for simply because of the cold weather. After contract negotiations fell through, Kelly played a short stint in the United States Football League before returning to the Bills in 1986.

The five-time Pro Bowler threw for 13,512 yards with 98 touchdowns in the years Buffalo made it to the Super Bowl and his 35,467 yards and 237 touchdowns are both the most in franchise history.

He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2002 and his No. 12 has been retired by the Bills.

Bruce Smith was a part of the Levy dream team that saw the Bills reach four Super Bowls.

Arguably one of the best defensive ends in NFL history, the Virginia Tech star was selected first overall in the 1985 draft by the Bills.

In his 15 seasons with the Bills, Smith was an 11-time Pro Bowler and had eight First-team All-Pro selections in addition to being named NFL Defensive Player of the Year twice.

To this day, he still is the NFL’s All-time sack leader with 200. He became a Hall of Famer in 2009.

O.J. SIMPSON

Regardless of the controversy that surrounded O.J. Simpson after his career, his time spent in the NFL makes him the greatest runningback the Bills have ever seen.

After winning just one game in the 1968 season, the Bills were desperate for change and that meant using the No. 1 draft pick to select Simpson out of the University of Southern California.

In his nine seasons with the Bills, Simpson was named to six Pro Bowls and five All-Pro selections. He wowed in 1973 when he became the first player to rush for over 2,000 in a season. He was elected into the Hall of Fame in 1985.

The Bills are not shy of Hall of Famers.

A late-round draft pick, Andre Reed played for the Bills from 1985 to 1999 where he was named to seven Pro Bowls and still maintains the franchise record for catches (941), yards (13,095) and touchdowns (86).

Reed started out strong his rookie season but would go to become the team’s leading wide receiver for seven seasons straight beginning in 1988.

Tennessee Titans’ Kevin Byard isn’t just one of the top safeties in the NFL — he’s also a great son.

Byard took to social media to share a personal moment with fans, revealing that his former “pipe dream” of buying his mom a home has finally become a reality.

BRONCOS’ MELVIN GORDON JOKES PLAYING FOR CHARGERS IS LIKE PLAYING IN FAN-LESS STADIUMS: ‘I’M NOT MISSING ANYTHING’

“When you come from where I come from, stuff like this is a pipe dream that only a few are able to accomplish,” the 26-year-old pro wrote on Twitter.

COWBOYS’ MIKE MCCARTHY READY FOR ALDON SMITH’S NFL RETURN: ‘HE’S IN GREAT PHYSICAL SHAPE’

“I hate that we couldn’t be there but I’m more happy that everything worked itself out. I love you mom and enjoy your new forever home!”

Byard’s dream to buy his mom a home was no doubt made easier after he became the highest paid safety in NFL history after signing a $70.5 million contract extension in 2019. He is second in annual salaries behind the Chicago Bears‘ Eddie Jackson, according to overthecap.com.

Cincinnati Bengals rookie quarterback Joe Burrow was the latest athlete to speak out about societal issues after George Floyd’s police-involved death in Minneapolis earlier this week.

Floyd was killed as Minneapolis police officers had him in custody Monday. A video appeared to show one officer with a knee on Floyd’s neck as he screamed for help and that he was having trouble breather. Floyd later died.

Burrow tweeted Friday that the black community is hurting.

“The black community needs our help. They have been unheard for far too long. Open your ears, listen, and speak. This isn’t politics. This is human rights,” he wrote.

The former LSU star quarterback was among the athletes who have spoken out in wake of Floyd’s death. His comments came a day after Philadelphia Eagles stars Carson Wentz and Zach Ertz released separate statements on the matter.

The Minneapolis police officers involved in Floyd’s death have been fired. No charges have been filed in the case.
