CNN anchor Jake Tapper took former Vice President Joe Biden to school on Tuesday, showing the 2020 Democratic front-runner how to properly cough during an on-air interview.

Biden was discussing the latest on combating the pandemic from his home when it was interrupted by a cough.

“Excuse me,” Biden said after he coughed into his hand.

“You know, you’re supposed to cough into your elbow,” Tapper told the former vice president as he himself demonstrated with his elbow. “I learned that, actually, covering your White House.”

“Actually, that’s true,” Biden conceded. “But fortunately, I’m alone in my home, but that’s OK. I agree you’re right.”

The CNN anchor, however, doubled down on the proper etiquette lesson.

“It’s kinda just old school to do it with your hand,” Tapper added while demonstrating with his elbow again. “Do it into your elbow. You’re supposed to do it.”

“Thank you,” Biden grinned.

Biden recently launched a daily live-stream address of his own updates on the coronavirus outbreak as the 2020 Democratic primary was brought to a halt by the escalation of the virus. Both he and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., had been taken off the campaign trail as public gatherings have been ordered to shut down by state governments. President Trump also had to cancel his campaign rallies.

CNN raised eyebrows on Friday over an analysis piece that claimed President Trump was peddling “unsubstantiated hope” amid the national emergency sparked by the coronavirus outbreak.

In the article titled “Trump peddles unsubstantiated hope in dark times,” CNN politics reporter Stephen Collinson suggested that the president is being too optimistic in the battle against the deadly virus.

“To fight the coronavirus, President Donald Trump is adopting the audacity of false hope,” Collinson began. “For the past two days, Trump has said he is dispensing ‘game changer’ breakthroughs on treatments and a wartime-style effort to mass produce medical supplies that appear as rays of light amid America’s darkening battle against the coronavirus pandemic. His eagerness for remedies no doubt reflects a sincere desire to deliver Americans from the nightmare of lockdowns, fear for loved ones and atmosphere of national trauma.”

Collinson then argued that it’s “becoming clear” that the president’s rhetoric is “an emerging political strategy” since he can’t hold campaign rallies, “so he’s just moved them into the White House briefing room.”

“Big footing Vice President Mike Pence’s sober, informative task force briefings, Trump exaggerates facts, bashes China, blames the Obama administration, lauds his once soaring economy and baits reporters while shoveling any blame away from himself,” Collinson explained.

FREQUENT CNN GUEST RICK WILSON MOCKS MELANIA TRUMP TO ‘#BEINFECTED’ WITH CORONAVIRUS

The CNN reporter begrudgingly admitted that “as a political exercise alone, the president’s high-visibility strategy appears to be working so far,” pointing to a new ABC News poll showing 55 percent of Americans approve of Trump’s handling of the outbreak.

Critics slammed the apparent “analysis” piece on social media for “fact checking hope.”

“We’re fact checking hope now,” conservative commentator Stephen Miller said. “Are you guys just bored? Like everyone else? You can say it.”

“WTF is this?” NewsBusters managing editor Curtis Houck asked. “[Trump] could respond to this garbage @CNNPolitics piece by saying at tomorrow’s briefing that ‘we’re all gonna die’ and @CNN would react by saying ‘Trump peddles unsubstantiated fear’ or something to that degree.”

“It seems like a lot of people would love a middle ground in the media between ‘there’s nothing to fear’ and ‘your hope is unsubstantiated in these dark times,'” National Republican Senatorial Committee senior adviser Matt Whitlock said.

Music legend Gloria Gaynor turned to her classic hit hoping to share some helpful advice and much-needed levity amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Gaynor, the Grammy-winning artist, shared a video of herself singing her hit single “I Will Survive” while washing her hands at a bathroom sink.

As the number of those who’ve contracted the virus has  increased, many in the U.S. have been stocking up on soap and hand sanitizer.

“It only takes 20 seconds to ‘SURVIVE’!” Gaynor wrote on various social media accounts including TikTok and Instagram.

If soap and water aren’t available, hand sanitizer is the next best option — namely if it contains at least 60 percent alcohol, the CDC says.

CNN’s Chris Cuomo tells viewers ‘go straight ethnic’ with ‘the harshest cleaners’ to combat coronavirus

CNN anchor Chris Cuomo urged viewers to “go straight ethnic” on Thursday night when it comes to cleaning surfaces in order to combat coronavirus.

During a conversation with CNN’s chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Cuomo questioned his colleague about the contagiousness of the coronavirus and how long it can stay on a surface.

“How long can the thing live, like, on my desk?” Cuomo asked.

“Well, I’m going to give you the answer, but I don’t want people to freak out by this,” Gupta warned, “because it can live on surfaces for days, actually. … Several studies that have looked at this, certain surfaces in the right condition, it can live for days.”

Gupta advised viewers to “disinfect all the time” since it “doesn’t matter” if something was cleaned yesterday if someone coughs or sneezes after.

“Go straight ethnic,” Cuomo said. “Be cleaning everything all the time with the harshest cleaners that you can find.”

The remarks sparked quite the reaction on social media, some even called for his firing.

CNN’s Jim Acosta was criticized on social media for accusing President Trump of delivering a speech that smacked of xenophobia.

“The president referred to the coronavirus as a ‘foreign virus,’ that I think was interesting because, I was talking to sources earlier this evening, one of the points that the president wanted to make tonight, wanted to get across to Americans, is that this virus did not start here, but that they’re dealing it,” Acosta said. “Now, why the president would go as far to describe it as a foreign virus, that is something we’ll also be asking questions about.”

Acosta then said Trump is “going to come across to a lot of Americans as smacking of xenophobia” too because he said the coronavirus came from a foreign source.

CNN’s Don Lemon, Kasich have heated exchange over Trump’s coronavirus address

CNN anchor Don Lemon had a “total meltdown” according to critics on Wednesday night after a guest on his show told him that President Trump‘s coronavirus address from the Oval Office was “fine.”

Lemon, who has repeatedly insisted that he is ‘not a partisan,’ had on former 2016 presidential candidate-turned-CNN contributor John Kasich to discuss the latest developments in the Trump administration’s handling of the coronavirus outbreak. The anchor accused Trump of “misrepresenting” the travel ban that was set on Europe after the White House offered clarification on what was affected.

“Look, I watched the address tonight and I thought it was fine. He did fine,” Kasich said. “I’m glad he did the address tonight and I think that was important.”

Kasich urged the president to “stick to the script” and said governors will have a major role in combatting the virus.

However, none of that apparently sat well with the CNN anchor.

CNN DON LEMON PANEL FACES INTENSE BACKLASH FOR MOCKING TRUMP SUPPORTERS AS ILLITERATE ‘CREDULOUS RUBES’

“I don’t know if he stuck to the script or not, but whatever script he read was wrong because they had to clarify it several times,” Lemon complained. “And I’ve just got to say if the president came out to calm people’s fears, he didn’t do a good job of it because he had to come back and clarify it several times! And this has been going on long enough for them to get it straight! We need straight, accurate information from this president and this administration and we’re not getting it!”

His tirade continued, “And I don’t understand why you’re tip-toeing around it. He came out, gave an address that’s usually- that happens very rarely he doesn’t get it right?!”

“First of all, he read it,” Kasich responded. “And somebody- I don’t want to get into that.”

“Why not?! That’s why you’re here!” Lemon exclaimed. “To talk about the president’s address!”

“Can I finish?” the former Ohio governor attempted to complete his thought.

“No, no you can’t, John!” the anchor shouted. “Because we’re here to talk about the president- I don’t want you to go on and deflect and talk about something else because we’re here to talk about the president’s address. And you said that someone else wrote it- he’s the president! Even if someone else wrote it, it should be right!”

Kasich, a longtime critic of the president, defended the Trump administration, telling Lemon they were attempting to address the “confusion out there.”

“Now there’s more confusion, John!” Lemon shot back.

CNN’S DON LEMON CLAIMS HE’S NOT ‘SOME LIBERAL’ DEMOCRAT: ‘I’M NOT A PARTISAN’

After engaging in another fiery exchange, Kasich reiterated his belief that Trump’s address was “fine.”

“I thought it was fine. You can disagree with me. I thought it was fine,” Kasich told his colleague. “I thought he had the right tone and he no longer played with ‘We’re going to blame Democrats’… I hope he’s trying to move forward because he understands the seriousness of this situation. Now the fact that they clarified- it isn’t unusual in a speech for somebody to clarify something, OK? But I don’t think that the tone he showed tonight takes away from some clarification. I think he set a serious tone. That’s what I wanted out of him for a long time. And I think we got it.”

After Lemon claimed he tried “cutting Trump a break” at the top of his show, Kasich then pressed Lemon on what he thought was so “terrible” about the clarification.”

“I never said I thought it was terrible. I’m telling you we’re in the middle of a pandemic right now,” Lemon said. “We’re in the middle of a pandemic and everytime this president comes out, he gives inaccurate information. So I don’t understand why he would even come out and do it at all if he is going to confuse the American people even more! You don’t understand that? You’re a governor! I’m surprised you don’t understand that!”

Lemon shook his head after Kasich insisted that “98 percent” of Trump’s address “was good.”

“I think I made my case here. If the president is going to come out and confuse people more, then don’t say anything,” Lemon concluded.

The CNN anchor was widely panned on social media.

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough falls for old fake Trump tweet calling to punish sitting POTUS for major Dow drop

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough was one of several media figures who fell for an infamous fake tweet showing President Trump calling for the punishment of a sitting president if the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 1,000 points.

Monday marked one of the worst days for the stock market in U.S. history, suffering over a 2,000-point loss due to a battle over oil prices erupted between Saudia Arabia and Russia as well as an escalation in coronavirus fears.

A screenshot of a tweet that appeared to have been written by Trump in 2015 had gone viral.

“If the Dow Joans ever falls more than 1000 ‘points’ in a Single Day the sitting president should be ‘loaded’ into a very big cannon and Shot into the sun at TREMENDOUS SPEED! No excuses!'” the tweet in the screenshot read.

However, the tweet was ruled as fake by numerous fact-checkers, including Politifact, when it first surfaced in 2018. Twitter user Shaun Usher, who was the first to share the screenshot, later admitted that he created the fake tweet, expressing, “Not for a second did I think people would believe that to be genuine.”

After feuding with Daily Caller reporter Peter J. Hasson, who called out the “Morning Joe” co-host for mocking a fake tweet, he offered an apology.

“I’m sorry for being less than mindful in my reaction. I was doing too many things at once and responded in haste. My apologies,” Scarborough said.

Trump camp fires back after Twitter labels Biden video ‘manipulated’

Westlake Legal Group Trump-Biden_AP Trump camp fires back after Twitter labels Biden video 'manipulated' Gregg Re fox-news/tech/topics/big-tech-backlash fox-news/tech/companies/twitter fox-news/politics/2020-presidential-election fox-news/person/joe-biden fox-news/person/donald-trump fox news fnc/politics fnc article 7ec6dab7-d4af-5b82-8742-f8a5f0d1d5d2

EXCLUSIVE: The Trump campaign has sent a scathing letter to Twitter’s leadership after the platform took the unprecedented step of labeling one of its videos “manipulated media,” saying that under the social media giant’s new standard, Joe Biden’s team has uploaded its own “doctored and deceptively edited” video as recently as last week.

“The Biden campaign is scared as hell that voters will see the flood of unedited and embarrassing verbal stumbles that will continue go viral if ‘Status Quo Joe’ is the nominee,” Trump campaign rapid response director Andrew Clark told Fox News. “Twitter shouldn’t be an enforcement arm of Joe Biden’s campaign strategy, but if they choose to police every video clip they must hold his own campaign to the same standard.”

The confrontation began this the weekend when Trump communications director Dan Scavino tweeted an edited version of a Biden speech in which the former vice president appears to deliver a muddled and inadvertent endorsement of Trump. Scavino’s clip, which the president later reposted, did not alter any of Biden’s words, but it cut off before the conclusion of Biden’s sentence at a rally in St. Louis.

“Understandably, the Biden campaign has a strategic interest in intimidating social media companies into suppressing true and embarrassing video evidence of Joe Biden’s continued inability to communicate coherently—a sad truth that has been publicly noted by Democrats and media figures alike,” Trump campaign chief operating officer Michael Glassner wrote in the missive to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, general counsel Vijaya Gadde, and public policy director Carlos Monje.

“Still, it appears that many people employed by Big Tech corporations in Silicon Valley are assisting the Biden campaign by instituting a special ‘Biden protection rule’ that effectively censors and silences legitimate political speech Biden’s campaign and its supporters do not like,” he added in the letter, obtained by Fox News.

Glassner said he was “formally requesting that Twitter apply its new ‘manipulated media’ label to a doctored and deceptively edited video tweeted by the Biden campaign less than a week ago.”

That was a reference to a March 3 video uploaded by the Biden campaign that contains a slew of clips that are taken out of context, and “manipulates audio and video of President Trump in order to mislead Americans and give a false impression,” Glassner wrote.

The video, Glassner points out, contains two clips “spliced together to fabricate a quote and give viewers the false impression that he called the coronavirus a ‘hoax,'” a claim that the non-partisan International Fact-Checking Network has previously debunked. The president in fact called Democrats’ response to the coronavirus “their new hoax.”

Additionally, the Biden video effectively repeats a false claim the former vice president himself made in his campaign launch video, asserting through selective editing that the president called white supremacists in Charlottesville, Va. “very fine people.” That assertion, although widely made in progressive circles, is untrue; the president was referring to protesters on both sides of the issue of whether Confederate statues should be removed from public places “very fine people.”

“In fact, 49 seconds after President Trump said those words, he said, ‘and I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally,'” Glassner wrote. “As one CNN anchor said, ‘he’s not saying that the neo-Nazis and white supremacists are very fine people[.]'”.

“If Twitter is not seeking to protect Joe Biden, we urge it to correct its apparent oversight and apply its standards equally across the board.”

— Trump campaign COO Michael Glassner

Third, the Biden video contains a 2016 clip in which then-candidate Trump declares “the American Dream is dead” — but leaves out the second part of Trump’s sentence, in which he says, “but if I get elected president I will bring it back bigger and better and stronger than ever before, and we will make America great again.”

READ THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN’S LETTER TO TWITTER CEO

“Of course, this is not the first time the Biden campaign has used editing tricks to manipulate video and feed misinformation to the American people,” Glassner wrote. “If Twitter is not seeking to protect Joe Biden, we urge it to correct its apparent oversight and apply its standards equally across the board.”

Fox News has identified several other videos posted to Biden’s Twitter account that contain similar misleading clips. An October 2019 post on Biden’s campaign account, for example, states that Trump “has asked foreign governments to interfere in our elections,” and is accompanied by a video of a White House interview that omits Trump’s full remarks.

In the full interview, Trump says, “I think maybe you do both,” referring to notifying the FBI as well as listening to an offer of political help from a foreign entity; but in the Biden clip, Trump says only that he would “listen” to the proposal from a foreign entity.

Glassner made clear that the Trump campaign was not backing off its original video of Biden, saying the clip was “a 100 percent real, 100 percent authentic, 100 percent unedited video of Joe Biden saying, ‘We cannot win this re-election. Excuse me. We can only re-elect Donald Trump[.]'”

TRUMP EMBRACES MUDDLED BIDEN ‘ENDORSEMENT,’ AS COMPETENCY CONCERNS MOUNT

In order for American elections to remain “free and fair,” Glassner wrote, “it is critical that the Biden campaign be held to the same standard it is demanding apply to others.”

In the post uploaded by Scavino, Biden seemingly endorses the president after stammering over some words.

“We cannot get — re-elect — we cannot win this re-election — excuse me. We can only re-elect Donald Trump,” Biden says in the edited clip. In the full speech, Biden went on to add,” — if, in fact, we get engaged in this circular firing squad here. Gotta be a positive campaign, so join us.”

Twitter quickly labeled the post “misinformation,” in the social media giant’s first-ever use of its new policy, which is ostensibly designed to combat the spread of false news. The so-called Synthetic and Manipulated Media policy states that “you may not deceptively share synthetic or manipulated media that are likely to cause harm.”

The policy went into effect Mar. 5 after a campaign video from Mike Bloomberg’s team added crickets and a long silence when Bloomberg asked his rivals if any of them had started a business. Facebook has said that the Trump video would not meet its platform for deceptive editing.

Currently, no misinformation flag appears on the video for some users when it is directly clicked, although a warning does appear if the video shows up in a user’s feed. Twitter has said it is working to apply the warning whenever the clip is accessed.

BILLIONAIRE REPUBLICAN BUYS MAJOR STAKE IN TWITTER, COULD OUST CEO SOON

The broader issue of Biden’s potential competency issues looms large over the 2020 presidential race. Also in St. Louis, Biden bizarrely described himself as an “O’Biden Bama” Democrat, transposing his name and the name of his old boss.

Trump suggested at a Fox News Town Hall last week that Biden isn’t fit for office.

“I’m all set for Bernie, communist,” Trump began. “And then we have this crazy thing that happened on Tuesday, which he [Biden] thought was Thursday. But he also said 150 million people were killed with guns, and that he was running for the U.S. Senate — there’s something going on there.”

Multiple journalists at MSNBC have expressed their disapproval on social media over using the phrase “Wuhan Virus” to refer to the novel coronavirus.

The uproar began when Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., announced on Sunday that he was going to “self-quarantine” after he and his staff had made contact with a coronavirus-infected attendee at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) late last month.

“I am announcing that I, along with 3 of my senior staff, are officially under self-quarantine after sustained contact at CPAC with a person who has since been hospitalized with the Wuhan Virus. My office will be closed for the week.”

That didn’t sit well with MSNBC host Chris Hayes, who called the label “astonishingly gross.”

Sparking a debate on social media, Hayes’ colleague David Gura went even further with his own disclaimer.

“FYI: Calling #COVID19 the ‘Wuhan Virus’ is racist,” Gura tweeted.

CNN legal analyst Renato Mariotti also suggested that the “Wuhan Virus” was problematic.

“A GOP congressman is quarantining himself after sustained contact with a person with Covid-19 (Coronavirus), but he insists on calling it the ‘Wuhan Virus,’ presumably to blame China for this pathogen,” Mariotti reacted to Gosar’s tweet.

Critics tore apart the “Wuhan Virus” outrage.

“Is this also applicable to West Nile Virus and the Spanish Flu? People have run out of legitimate stuff to be offended at,” pollster Frank Luntz said.

“Does he work for The Onion?” Real Clear Politics founder Tom Bevan knocked Gura.

Townhall.com senior writer Julio Rosas shared a montage clip showing the use of “Wuhan Virus” by several CNN anchors and appearing in numerous headlines.

Rep. Gosar shot back at the “All In” host for the media’s sudden change of heart over the “Wuhan Virus” tweet.

“Just astoundingly ignorant to have all major media refer to it as #WuhanVirus for months but somehow, today, you’ve decided that’s #racist. If you think this virus cares about your race you probably work for or watch MSNBC. Wuhan Virus. Wuhan Virus. Wuhan Virus,”  Gosar told Hayes.

Tulsi Gabbard calls on Biden, Sanders to demand DNC allow her on Arizona debate stage

The only woman remaining in the 2020 race for the White House is calling on her party’s top two competitors to help pressure the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to allow her to participate in an upcoming presidential debate in Phoenix.

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, is now one of only three Democratic candidates still running for president. On Super Tuesday, March 3, she walked away with two delegates from American Samoa, which would have helped her qualify in the previous debate, held Feb. 25 in Charleston, S.C.

However, the DNC released a new requirement for the March 15 Phoenix debate. Participants for that contest must have at least 20 percent of the pledged delegates, which means only the two leaders — former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. — qualify.

On Friday night, Gabbard took to social media and appealed to Biden and Sanders to let her join them on the debate stage once again.

“@JoeBiden @Bernie Sanders I’m sure you would agree that our Democratic nominee should be a person who will stand up for what is right. So I ask that you have the courage to do that now in the face of the DNC’s effort to keep me from participating in the debates,” Gabbard tweeted.

She then called out the DNC for changing the debate requirements to allow Mike Bloomberg onto the debate stage.

“To keep me off the stage, the DNC again arbitrarily changed the debate qualifications. Previously they changed the qualifications in the OPPOSITE direction so Bloomberg could debate. I ask that you stand w/ me against the DNC’s transparent effort to exclude me from the debates. #LetTulsiDebate,” she said.

The hashtag #LetTulsiDebate trended on Twitter throughout Friday evening.

Gabbard has not appeared on at a Democratic debate since November. She was also snubbed by CNN’s town hall series despite the liberal network inviting former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, whose polling was lower than hers.

President Trump made a surprise announcement on Friday night that Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., would become his new White House chief of staff, replacing acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney.

“I am pleased to announce that Congressman Mark Meadows will become White House Chief of Staff. I have long known and worked with Mark, and the relationship is a very good one,” Trump tweeted.

Meadows has become one of Trump’s most loyal defenders on Capitol Hill, particularly during the monthslong impeachment battle that ultimately ended with an acquittal in February.

Mulvaney became the acting White House chief of staff in January 2019, replacing Gen. John Kelly. Mulvaney was also serving as the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) director.

Trump also announced that Mulvaney would become the U.S. special envoy for Northern Ireland.

“I want to thank Acting Chief Mick Mulvaney for having served the Administration so well. He will become the United States Special Envoy for Northern Ireland. Thank you!” Trump said in a second tweet.

It is unclear if Mulvaney will remain as the head of the OMB or if the department’s deputy director, Russell Vought, will assume the role.

The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.
