Mark Meadows: ‘Adam Schiff has amnesia’ regarding his committee denying Trump a fair process

House Freedom Caucus member Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., said Tuesday that Lead House Impeachment Manager Adam Schiff, D-Calif., appears to have amnesia, as he lambasts Republicans for preventing a fair Senate impeachment trial.

On “The Ingraham Angle,” Meadows said Schiff appears to have forgotten the lengthy House impeachment inquiry wherein he said President Trump was denied legal counsel or normal due process rights.

Schiff claimed on Tuesday that the parameters set by Senate Republicans do not represent a fair trial.

“If you only get to see part of the evidence — if you only allow one side or the other a chance to present their full case, your verdict will be predetermined by the bias in the proceeding. If the House cannot call witnesses or introduce documents and evidence, it is not a fair trial,” the Burbank Democrat declared.

In response, Meadows said it was ironic for Schiff to make those remarks.

TRUMP SENATE IMPEACHMENT LIVE BLOG

“Adam Schiff has amnesia. He’s forgotten about the 71 days that we denied the president legal counsel to be in there when it was in the House,” he said.

“Yet here he is talking about what’s fair? The headline should be today really, ‘Corrupt investigators demand fair trial.’ How do you do that? It is just unbelievable.”

While Meadows was speaking to host Laura Ingraham, Impeachment Manager Rep. Sylvia Garcia, D-Texas, continued to make Democrats’ case to call witnesses before the opening arguments.

Garcia, who represents a Houston-area district, claimed that two White House budget officials — Robert Blair and Michael Duffey — be called to testify.

“Blair and Duffey were directly involved in executing the president’s order” to freeze Ukrainian aid, she claimed.

Garcia said the Senate should hear why Duffey abruptly removed Mark Sandy, an OMB official who handled aid to Ukraine for questioning the legality of the freeze in military aid. She says Duffey then took over the handling of Ukraine aid himself. She also says two career OMB officials resigned based on concerns over the Ukraine aid freeze.

After Garcia finished, White House attorney Pam Bondi — a former Florida state attorney general — rebutted Garcia, saying that the House would not allow agency counsel to appear with Duffey or Blair.

“The House took not action with their subpoenas now they want you to take action,” said Bondi. “The House took no action with the subpoenas for Duffey or Blair because they did not want to tell them they were trampling on their constitutional rights.”

Charlie Hurt: ‘Dyed-in-the-wool Communist’ Bernie Sanders getting played by the Democratic Party bosses

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., is once again getting the short end of the stick from Democratic Party leaders, Fox News contributor Charlie Hurt said Friday on “Hannity.”

Hurt said that no matter how high the popular energy is surrounding the self-described democratic socialist, the party does not want him to be the nominee.

“I don’t agree with anything Bernie Sanders says, but, he got screwed the last time,” said Hurt, the Washington Times’ opinion editor.

“They stole the nomination from him last time. And the reason they don’t like him is because they — and, again, I don’t like him or anything he stands for but — they can’t control him.”

Hurt said that Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., also appears to have realized the Democratic Party does not want far-left a candidate to be the nominee.

“Elizabeth Warren realizes what the rest of the Democratic Party realizes — the party poobahs, and what Hillary Clinton probably realizes — which is that all the energy is with Bernie Sanders,” he said.

However, Hurt credited Sanders for being more genuine than Warren.

“He is a dyed-in-the-wool Communist and he has been his entire adult life,” he said. “Elizabeth Warren is a faker. She is a fraud. Everything she says is a lie. I’m not saying that she doesn’t believe some crazy things. I think she probably does.”

Sanders’ authenticity, Hurt said, is why many voters in the Democratic Party appear to flock to him.

“Bernie is a Marxist,” Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, stated during the segment, noting that Sanders and his wife took their 1988 honeymoon in what was then the Soviet Union.

Sarah Sanders: ‘Embarrassing’ that Democrats’ new ‘star witness’ Parnas is under federal indictment

Former White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders has said that Lev Parnas — a Ukraine-born associate of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani — should not be trusted when he makes claims against President Trump.

Sanders told “The Story” on Thursday that she will take the word of Vice President Mike Pence over that of Parnas — who claimed on MSNBC Wednesday night that the former Indiana governor was told to stay home from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s 2019 inauguration because Kiev refused to investigate Hunter Biden.

In response, “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough claimed that Pence was “caught lying” about the situation.

Sanders rejected the claims, saying that Pence is one of the most upstanding men she has met in her life.

TWO GIULIANI ASSOCIATES LINKED TO UKRAINE PROBE INDICTED

“I’m certainly going to take his [Pence’s] word over a guy who is under federal indictment for lying,” she said.

“I think the biggest takeaway from this is the Democrats’ star witness,” Sanders said of Parnas, who some lawmakers now want to testify in the Senate’s upcoming impeachment trial. “Everything they are hanging their hat on is from a guy who is currently under federal indictment and — get this, Martha — on charges of making false statements and falsifying documents.”

“I think it’s embarrassing and sad,” she added.

Sanders, the daughter of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, added that the entire episode shows how fervently Democrats and their media allies want to take down Trump.

“Unless [Parnas] heard it directly from the president, I don’t think he can consider that some sort of order that he is making it out to be or some sort of firsthand knowledge,” she added.

Parnas and Igor Fruman, another Giuliani associate, are accused of using a limited liability company to make political contributions related to American elections in violation of FEC prohibitions against contributions from foreign nationals. Both men have been linked to Giuliani’s efforts to arrange investigations in Ukraine.

Former Clinton impeachment manager: Senate Dems want witnesses because House ‘did not do its job’

Bob Barr, who served as a House manager in the impeachment of President Bill Clinton, said Democrats want to call witnesses and are pushing for additional evidence to be presented in Trump’s impeachment trial because the House of Representatives “did not do its job.”

“Back in 1999 the Senate made very clear to us that they were not interested in handling this at all,” the former Georgia congressman said Thursdsay on “America’s Newsroom,” minutes before the Senate formally received the articles of impeachment,

“This time around there does seem to be more interest on the part of the Democrats to extend the trial and the evidence and the witnesses because the House did not do its job. It did not present a full, robust case, so the Democrat senators now realize that they better do that and that’s why they’re pushing so hard for witnesses and additional evidence,” Barr continued.

TRUMP IMPEACHMENT TRIAL BEGINS AS ARTICLES FORMALLY PRESENTED TO SENATE

Shortly after Barr made the statements on “America’s Newsroom,” House Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving led a procession of Democratic “managers” across the Capitol and the upper chamber formally received the two articles of impeachment against Trump for charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress for his dealings with Ukraine.

The proceedings marked the formal start of the Trump impeachment trial a day after the House transmitted the articles of impeachment to the Senate following one month of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi withholding the articles.

Barr weighed in on the one-month delay, acknowledging the House had been dillydallying, something that he said did not happen when he was an impeachment manager more than two decades ago.

“We have certainly seen it now in the weeks that have gone by between the House passage of the two articles of impeachment and finally appointing House managers and conveying the articles over to the Senate,” Barr said. “That is not something that we did or even considered back in 1998 and in 1999.”

“We believed at the time that precedent and good procedure required that as soon as the House took action, we would then move to appoint the managers and send it over to the Senate,” he continued. “We didn’t wait around for public opinion to shift or for new evidence to come forward, we went over there right away so that the Senate could start its work.”

PELOSI ANNOUNCES HOUSE IMPEACHMENT MANAGERS TO PROSECUTE CASE AGAINST TRUMP

Barr also said he expects Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who has not yet revealed the rules governing the process, to mirror the procedures during the Clinton impeachment trial.

“By everything I’ve seen so far he seems to be moving in the direction of mirroring the procedures in 1999, which was to have a bifurcated trial,” Barr said.

“You have arguments first, some questions, and then the House, the Senate decides if they want witnesses.”

Barr said McConnell could choose to avoid a “procedural mess” by allowing the Senate Judiciary Committee to handle the impeachment case, adding that Senate rules allow for such a move.

“Under Senate rules, a committee of the Senate has the power to call witnesses and take testimony without any additional votes on the part of the Senate. So that would be a way to shift the venue so we don’t take up all of the time of the Senate and they don’t have to deal with all of the messes involved,” he added.

Stirewalt on Senate impeachment trial’s ‘foregone’ conclusion: ‘It’s kind of meh’

Fox News political editor Chris Stirewalt said on “Outnumbered Overtime” on Tuesday that “impeachment is a great microcosm for why Americans should be skeptical of Washington.”

He added that the conclusion of Trump’s impeachment is “foregone.”

“We know what’s going to happen,” he said. “This is a lot of falderal about really nothing.

“It’s significant, historically, that the president will bear the besmirchment, the stigma, as he calls it, of impeachment,” Stirewalt continued. “It’s true the House has voted to impeach him, but we’ve known what the outcome of a Senate trial was going to be for a long time barring huge revelations or changes. There have been no huge revelations or changes. We are here talking about the timing of a thing that is foregone and it’s kind of meh.”

Stirewalt made the comments on shortly after Fox News was told a House vote on sending the two articles of impeachment against Trump to the Senate is expected Wednesday, following House Speaker Nancy Pelosi withholding the articles for weeks.

TRUMP’S IMPEACHMENT DEFENSE TEAM: TOP LAWYERS TAPPED FOR LOOMING TRIAL

The impeachment articles allege abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, concerning Trump’s efforts to pressure Ukraine to launch politically advantageous investigations, while withholding military aid to that nation.

“With the parties united and the Republicans sitting on a majority in the Senate, the idea that we were ever going to get to a supermajority of the Senate to vote to impeach the president barring, again, some other revelation, was a nonstarter.”

He added, “It’s defensible for the House to say regardless of the outcome at the trial they felt obliged to do what they did. Fine.

“Only in Washington, only in this city, could you have weeks and weeks and weeks of jaw-boning and wrangling and all of this palaver over essentially how to dispose of a thing that everybody knows is going to be disposed of,” he continued. “If you want to know how stupid our Congress –the way our Congress–works is, this has been just a great microcosm for why Americans should be skeptical of how Washington works and how the Congress works.”

US military’s Iran policy ‘not going to change overnight,’ Gen. Robert Scales says

Retired U.S. Army Major General Robert Scales reacted Sunday to the protests that had erupted in Iran after the rogue nation admitted it shot down a Ukrainian passenger plane killing all 176 people on board, saying America’s military policy in the country “is not going to change overnight.”

“Now that the nuclear deal is off the table, the Trump administration can talk directly to the Iranian people and say that we’re with the people, not with the ayatollah,” Scales said on “America’s News HQ.”

“The other thing I think that’s important here is that Trump’s strategy is principally economic rather than military.”

“By squeezing them economically with the sanctions, they also add that additional pressure that stresses the day-to-day lives of the Iranian people,” he continued. “This is a long game focused on fomenting revolution.”

President Trump tweeted a message of support to the protesters on Saturday, in both Farsi and English, promising his administration would continue to stand with them in solidarity.

Scales said Trump had two choices.

“First is a covert information war used principally through social media,” the retired general explained, described as Washington making contact “periodically with protesters to try to encourage them and give them advice on what to do.”

TRUMP TWEETS SUPPORT OF IRANIAN ANTI-GOVERNMENT PROTESTERS AFTER UKRAINIAN PASSENGER PLANE SHOT DOWN

“Secondly is the covert military operations that haven’t let up at all in the past year and will likely continue,” he added. “And, of course, those are highly classified, but they tend to be very, very effective over the long term. This is not going to change overnight.”

Scales also weighed in shortly after new reports surfaced that four members of Iraq’s military were wounded Sunday in an attack by at least six rockets targeting an air base just north of Baghdad where American trainers have been present. Sunday’s attack came just days after Iran fired more than a dozen ballistic missiles at two bases in Iraq housing U.S. forces, in response to the U.S.-ordered killing of top Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani.

“We reassured our partners and allies in the region that we will stand up and defend our interests,” Defense Secretary Mark Esper told CBS News’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday. “We do not expect any further attacks.”

When asked if there was a little hubris in saying more attacks from the Iranians or their proxies weren’t expected, Scales responded by saying, “Yeah, but this is small beer.”

The retired general said a local militia likely conducted Sunday’s attack. “This is a long way from resumption of the surrogate strategic campaign by the [Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.] They’re back on their heels. With Soleimani dead, they’re going to have to find another moral leader of this movement and restart it. We’re going to have a period of pause while the Iranians try to get their act together.”

Senate Armed Services Committee member Tom Cotton, R-Ark., praised President Trump‘s swift action that killed Iran Gen. Qassem Soleimani, telling Mark Levin that the viewpoint of a soldier in the Middle East is different than that of a lawmaker working stateside.

Cotton, a veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, said in an interview airing Sunday on “Life, Liberty & Levin” that he has seen intelligence that showed Soleimani, 62, was plotting “something large [and] something very dangerous” in the near future.

“There is no doubt,” he said, suggesting that the severity of the situation trumped whether the predicted attack or attacks happened in a matter of days as opposed to weeks or months.

MARK LEVIN: ‘APPALLING’ TO WATCH LAWMAKERS INVOKE ‘UNCONSTITUTIONAL’ WAR POWERS ACT AGAINST TRUMP

“The question of whether the attack is imminent or not … looks very different if you’re a soldier sitting in Iraq than if you’re some comfortable senator sitting behind armed guards in Washington D.C.,” Cotton said.

The Arkansas lawmaker added that Soleimani “was a sadistic terrorist mastermind and there is no country in the Middle East whose citizens have not suffered from his depredations.”

Cotton claimed Soleimani is a chief reason why Syria President Bashar al-Assad remains in power Syria and that the general’s Quds Force was responsible for killing thousands of Iranians during a recent civil protest against the Tehran government.

“If you’ve got a chance to take a mastermind like Qassem Soleimani off the battlefield, you take it,” he said, backing up the president’s sentiments and adding that he is disappointed in the objections he’s heard from the Democrat side of the aisle.

Sean Hannity criticized House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Friday and implored Senate Republicans to “do your job” next week, when the impeachment trial of President Trump is likely to take place.

“Before this current month-long pause of urgency, the very dazed and confused Nancy Pelosi, speaker-in-name-only, argued that impeachment was urgent,” Hannity said on his television program. “But now, after weeks and weeks of stalling over some fantasy that she’s going to actually dictate the Constitution to the U.S. Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell … Pelosi has given in.”

“What have [Democrats] done for three years?” Hannity added. “Nothing.”

Pelosi announced Friday that she will take steps next week to send impeachment articles to the Senate after delaying the process in a bid to extract favorable terms for a trial.

Hannity advised Republicans to stay on track.

“Do your job. Your job is not to undo the mess that they’re handing you. Your job is to dismiss it because there’s nothing there,” Hannity said.  “Do not carry out Nancy Pelosi’s bidding, ‘the squad’s’ bidding. “End the B.S. once and for all,” he said. “Get back to working on issues that will impact the lives, the safety, the security, the prosperity, the American people.”

Defense attorney: ‘I absolutely believe that Harvey Weinstein is not a rapist’

Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein‘s attorney Donna Rotunno told “The Story with Martha MacCallum” Friday that she does not believe the mogul committed rape and defended her choice to take on Weinstein as a client.

“When you do the work that I do, you stand up and you defend people that are charged with crimes, regardless of race, gender, any bias, race, religion,” Rotunno said. “And so it doesn’t make a difference to me whether I’m a woman and he’s a man or vice versa.”

The attorney told MacCallum everyone deserves a defense but in the case of Weinstein, the evidence has led her to determine his innocence.

“It really isn’t about what Harvey has to convince me of. It’s about what the evidence has convinced me of,”Rotunno said. “But in this circumstance, I absolutely believe that Harvey Weinstein is not a rapist. And I do not believe that he raped the women [he is accused of raping]

On Thursday, the trial judge declined a request by Weinstein’s defense to remove himself from the case. The attorneys objected to comments Burke made when he threatened to jail Weinstein for ignoring a court order barring texting in the courtroom.

Weinstein’s lawyers blasted the judge’s comments as “prejudicial and inflammatory,” and raised questions about his impartiality.

Rotunno told MacCallum there was more to the story.

“In these cases, these women had relationships with Harvey that did not start the night that they walked into a hotel room,” Rotunno said. “So there’s a lot more in this in this story than that I think meets the eye.”

The mother of a 19-year-old California woman who was murdered last month, allegedly by an illegal immigrant, spoke out against the state’s sanctuary policies that she said led to her daughter’s death.

“I feel that she has no concern for the citizens that are already here, who have been born and raised here for generations,” Shauna White told “Tucker Carlson Tonight” when asked about Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, who made headlines in 2018 when she posted a warning that Immigration and Customs Enforcement was “preparing to conduct an operation in the Bay Area, including Oakland.”

OAKLAND MAYOR INSISTS SHE ‘DID THE RIGHT THING’ IN TIPPING OFF ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS ABOUT ICE RAID

White’s daughter Madisyn was shot in a road rage accident after she got into a fender bender, White explained. The suspect has been identified in court documents as Roberto Martinez, 19, an illegal immigrant living in Hayward, Calif.

“When she got out of the car to take care of it with the insurance, he [Martinez] became aggressive,” White claimed. “He’s well known over there to rob people. … When she didn’t have anything else to offer him, he attacked her. He punched her in her face and continued to hit her.”

White said Madisyn eventually returned to her car and was attempting to film Martinez’s license plate when he allegedly fatally shot her.

“He let out 10 rounds on my daughter. He killed her,” an emotional White alleged. “He just, he killed her.”

White claimed that Schaaf cares only about “lining her own pockets and her own agenda.”

Martinez reportedly fled to Mexico following the killing. White claimed that a photo of the suspect that could aid investigators has not been released due to Schaff’s “personal agenda.”
