Tammy Bruce: Celebrity vid on Mueller report ‘insults’ Americans, shows ‘pathological fixation’ with Trump

A video featuring actors Martin Sheen, Robert De Niro and George Takei demanding the public read the full Mueller report is insulting to the American people, according to Tammy Bruce.

The video is also an example of Hollywood’s obsession with President Trump, Bruce told Tucker Carlson on Friday on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

“It’s also insulting because they are behaving as though the American people — or their own constituency, other liberals — either are too lazy to read, or read it but didn’t understand it properly, or have just have given up,” Bruce claimed.

DE NIRO, OTHER CELEBS TEAM UP TO ACCUSE TRUMP OF COLLUSION WITH RUSSIA

“It’s obviously a group of people who are embarrassed – as they should be. Not just because of this video, but because they did tell people for years that this was going to be the case. It wasn’t just about collusion, it was that the president of the United States was a Russian spy.”

Bruce suggested some in Hollywood need to let go of their continued focus on the president.

They need to, “get out of this pathological fixation on Donald Trump. They need to admit they were wrong and accept it which is what most Americans do, and move on.”

She claimed people like the actors in the video need to feel embarrassed if they believed Trump was a “Russian spy.”

In the video, published by NowThis News on Thursday, celebrities pointed to events like the infamous Trump Tower meeting, contacts made by former adviser George Papadopoulos, and Trump telling Russia during a press conference that he hoped they could obtain former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s emails.

In the short clip played by Carlson, De Niro is seen saying he believed the Russian government “attacked our democracy.”

“West Wing” actor Sheen, who portrayed a president on television, added Russia interfered in the 2016 election “in sweeping and systematic fashion.”

“Before the report was even released, Trump’s Attorney General William Barr lied about its contents,” Sheen claimed.

“All this is in the report. Please, just read it for yourself.”

“The Matrix” star Laurence Fishburne said he believed Russia, “made hundreds of contacts with the Trump campaign” in 2016.

Author Stephen King said he believed there has been a “massive covert operation.”

“Star Trek” star Takei claimed the Mueller report contains “the most damning evidence ever compiled against a sitting U.S. president.”

Kinzinger: Trump’s Iran call will ‘pale in comparison’ to next response

Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., said Friday on “The Story with Martha MacCallum” that Iran can expect the president to act differently if another incident occurs.

“Going forward if they think the president is going to do the same thing, if they shoot anything else down, I think he’s going to and the pressure is going to be on him so much that there will be a response that last night will pale in comparison to,” Kinzinger told guest host Ed Henry.

TRUMP CONFIRMS HE CALLED OFF RETALIATORY IRAN ATTACK ’10 MINUTES BEFORE THE STRIKE’

Trump confirmed early Friday that he called off a retaliatory attack on Iran in response to the downing of a U.S. drone “10 minutes before the strike,” saying the number of expected casualties was not “proportionate” to what Tehran did.

Kinzinger, who disagreed with Trump’s decision, found it interesting that Democrats were unsatisfied with the president’s change of heart.

“I disagreed with the president’s decision. But that said, this should be the thing that those that were claiming that president Trump was  a warmonger, was going to start World War III and he can’t be trusted, and John Bolton and all this kind of stuff, they should now be celebrating that he is not what they said he was, but they are not,” Kinzinger said.

“While I’m being consistent and I disagree with this decision, I think the president will use military force as something like this happens again, it is amazing to see the dichotomy of things.”

Asked why he disagreed with the president Kinzinger responded that the Iranians should face a “cost.”

“I just think there has to be a cost to the Iranians,” Kinzinger said.

Son of woman who died in Dominican Republic slams nation’s ‘disgraceful’ response

The Dominican government’s “disgraceful” response to a string of Americans falling fatally ill in the Caribbean nation shows something’s not right with their account, according to the son of one woman who died.

Leyla Cox did not die of a heart attack – as Dominican officials told the family, son William Cox claimed Friday on “The Story.”

“It’s absolutely disgraceful. It’s disgraceful to dismiss the families with everything that’s going on over there,” Cox said.

“There’s something not right with this story. How many more Americans are going to have to die before something is done and we as Americans say enough is enough?”

FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF WOMAN WHO DIED IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC CLAIM AUTHORITIES ARE LYING ABOUT PAST ‘SEVERAL HEART ATTACKS’

Host Ed Henry asked Cox if federal officials or lawmakers have reached out to him to help his family.

Cox said he wanted the White House to comment on the matter.

“I would personally like to hear what the Trump administration would have to say about this whole incident,” he said.

“I have not been contacted by the FBI whatsoever. If you are watching, I need your help. Please reach out to me.”

However, he added that officials he’s been able to speak with have been, “very helpful.”

He speculated there could have been more sinister reasons for his mother’s death.

“For all I know, a crime could have been committed and Dominican authorities are not investigating it whatsoever,” he said.

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC RESORT DEATHS PROMPT CONGRESSMAN TO ANNOUNCE TRIP TO CARIBBEAN NATION

On Monday, Public Health Minister Rafael Sanchez Cardenas said at a press conference Leyla Cox had an enlarged heart, high blood pressure and she had suffered “several past heart attacks.”

But on Wednesday, her supervisor where she worked at the Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island said that in the roughly ten years she knew Cox, who was 53, she had not had a heart attack or had any serious medical conditions.

On the other side of New York City, a member of Congress announced he will be making a trip to the Dominican Republic in the wake of the illnesses and deaths.

“I am taking this trip to see for myself and ensure the safety of American tourists and visitors to the Dominican Republic remains priority.”

Greg Gutfeld: Biden ‘made his bed,’ can’t complain about attacks from fellow Dems

Former Vice President Joe Biden’s prior criticisms of his political opponents makes it hard to feel sorry for him in the wake of attacks from some fellow 2020 Democratic hopefuls, according to Greg Gutfeld.

Speaking Friday on “The Five,” Gutfeld noted Biden has slammed President Trump and 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney in regard to race – and therefore he should not be immune from criticism of his own language.

“I feel bad for Joe until I remember that he has pulled the very same crap on Republicans repeatedly,” Gutfeld said of the former vice president taking heat over comments he made about segregationist former senators.

BIDEN, UNDER FIRE FOR COMMENTS ON SEGREGATIONISTS, GAVE EULOGIES FOR STROM THURMOND, ROBERT BYRD

“The smear machine created by the left is that crocodile that will ultimately eat everybody, and you’ll think you will be safe, but it will eat you too.

“He is the one that said Trump didn’t condemn white supremacy – when he did. He also said Romney was ‘going to put you all back in chains’ … He’s made his bed with the smear machine, and unfortunately, he’s got to lie in that bed.”

Gutfeld pointed out Biden condemned Romney during a 2012 stump speech in Danville, Va. — where the then-vice president criticized the now-Utah senator’s comments about easing Wall Street regulations.

“He said in the first 100 days, he’s going to let the big banks once again write their own rules,” the former Delaware senator remarked.

“Unchain Wall Street. They’re gonna put y’all back in chains.”

Gutfeld also pointed to remarks Biden made in April criticizing Trump’s reaction to what has been called a white nationalist rally Charlottesville, Va. in 2017.

“Give me a break,” the Democrat said. “Enough’s enough, man.”

“It’s nonsense. The very rally was advertised – advertised – as a white supremacist rally. Anti-Semitic chants were clear. Hatred was on the march and he knew it.”

Chris Wallace on Trump’s Iran strike reversal: There are ‘costs to inaction,’ just like Obama’s Syria red line

“Fox News Sunday” anchor Chris Wallace said Friday that there are “costs to inaction” after President Trump confirmed he called off retaliatory strikes against Iran.

Trump made the last-minute decision Thursday night after the downing of a Navy drone that Washington said was flying within international airspace.

The mission would have reportedly targeted Iranian missile batteries and radars.

Trump took to Twitter Friday morning to confirm he called off the strikes and said he based his decision on the number of potential casualties.

MEDIC TESTIFIES THAT HE, NOT NAVY SEAL EDDIE GALLAGHER, WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR ISIS FIGHTER’S DEATH

A source had confirmed to Fox News earlier Friday morning that the administration made a last-minute decision to call off the retaliatory strikes against Iran.

But until Trump’s tweets, few details about the aborted mission and the circumstances that led to the reversal were publicly available. And it remained unclear Friday whether strike plans have been definitively shelved.

TRUMP SAYS IRAN’S US DRONE SHOOT-DOWN MAY HAVE BEEN ‘MISTAKE,’ BUT ‘COUNTRY WILL NOT STAND FOR IT’

Responding on “America’s Newsroom,” Wallace questioned Trump’s explanation that potential casualties were the reason for his decision. Wallace said such discussions about “collateral damage” would normally occur far in advance of the president ordering the strike to go forward earlier on Thursday.

“A war with Iran would be a very ugly and prolonged conflict so it does raise the question: Does the president really have the stomach to launch this kind of attack and get more deeply involved, perhaps, in a confrontation with Iran?” Wallace said.

He stated Iran bears the responsibility for provoking the confrontation, but there are costs to both action and inaction.

“Remember when President Obama decided a few years ago, he declared that red line and said we would strike back if Syria launched another chemical weapons attack and then he backed off that. A lot of people, including Donald Trump as a candidate and even as president, said there was a real cost to that in terms of the U.S. threatening something and then not going ahead and doing it,” Wallace recalled.

He concluded Trump may still order a strike with less of a risk of causing casualties, but it appears the president “doesn’t have much of an appetite” for such an escalation.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham spoke out against a war with Iran Thursday saying that conflict with the Middle East power likely would cost President Trump the presidency in 2020.

“The only obstacles that I see to Trump’s winning in 2020 are one, an economic collapse and two, a new American war. That risk, trump throwing in with the Bush war hawks and a repudiation of his own doctor and principled realism in foreign policy,” Ingraham said on “The Ingraham Angle.”

BIDEN CALLS IRAN TENSIONS ‘SELF-INFLICTED DISASTER’ AFTER US DRONE SHOOT-DOWN

Iran shot down a Navy high-altitude drone over the Strait of Hormuz escalating tensions between the countries.

The Fox News host cited conservative Pat Buchanan’s latest column saying that a war with Iran would be labeled ‘Trump’s war’ because he pulled the U.S. from the Iran nuclear treaty.

Ingraham said a “show of force” would be fine but anything requiring a “large deployment” would destroy the presidency.

“If the president and the Pentagon think a targeted show of force can produce the intended deterrence, that’s fine,” Ingraham said.

“Anything requiring a large deployment of American troops would have a more harmful effect on his presidency than anything Mueller ever did.”

Ingraham advised caution.

“Whatever response America is mulling, we must be wary of doing anything that will draw us into another long-term conflict in the region,” Ingraham said. “We must protect our interests, protect our friend Israel including our rights to patrol international waters and airspace but America cannot and should not be sucked into wasting billions and billions of taxpayer dollars in a region that has been in turmoil for decades.”

On Friday, Trump explained why he called off the retaliatory strikes against Iranian targets, saying a U.S. general told him 150 people could be killed and that would not be “proportionate” with Iran’s actions.

The U.S. must offer a “measured response” to Iran’s downing of an American drone over the Strait of Hormuz, according to a Republican member of the House Homeland Security Committee.

Failure to respond to Iranian aggression would incentivize future attacks, U.S. Rep. Mark Green, R-Tenn., told Shannon Bream on Thursday on “Fox News @Night.”

“I think we clearly need a measured response here,” Green said. “I think the world needs to see, honestly, smoke and fire. I think Kim Jong Un needs to see smoke and fire. There’s been an attack on the U.S. military and if we don’t respond, we are incentivizing future attacks.”

“I think it’s time to act,” he added.

Green added that President Trump acted responsibly and conservatively to the attack on the unmanned drone.

“Let’s give President Trump some credit,” Green said. “He’s had a very measured response here. He even gave them an out with this ‘potentially it was a trigger-happy guy.’.”

Top administration officials and lawmakers met at the White House late Thursday for a classified briefing about the incident. They suggested that a “measured” U.S. response is likely coming soon.

Amid mounting tension between the U.S. and Iran, the White House earlier Thursday invited House and Senate leaders — as well as members of the House and Senate Intelligence and Armed Services Committees — to meet with President Trump in the Situation Room of the White House.

Others who arrived for the meeting included CIA Director Gina Haspel, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Shanahan was spotted outside the White House carrying a folder stamped “SECRET/NOFORN,” an intelligence classification category prohibiting distribution to anyone outside the government.

Life, Liberty & Levin” host Mark Levin appeared on “Hannity” Thursday where he blasted Iran apologists in the media and defended National Security Advisor John Bolton.

“Stop apologizing for Iran. What I hear tonight and what I’m hearing throughout the day is a bunch of people who are embracing Jimmy Carter’s foreign policy of appeasement, of distraction of excuses, of spin. You can embrace Jimmy Carter’s foreign policy, a wild failure or you can embrace Ronald Reagan’s foreign policy, a wild success,” Levin told host Sean Hannity.

TRUMP SAYS IRAN’S US DRONE SHOOT-DOWN MAY HAVE BEEN ‘MISTAKE,’ BUT ‘COUNTRY WILL NOT STAND FOR IT’

Iran blasted a Navy high-altitude drone out of the sky over the Strait of Hormuz, with U.S. Central Command leaders on Thursday slamming the “unprovoked” strike and Tehran’s subsequent “false” justifications for it.

Bolton has faced criticism and accusations of “war mongering,” with some believing he wants a conflict with Iran.

Levin defended Bolted calling the accusations a “disgrace.”

“John Bolton hasn’t done anything, he is a national security advisor and advises the president of the United States. I’m sure China and Russia and North Korea and Iran love it when they hear hosts and others trashing John Bolton,” Levin said.

“Part of a massive propaganda efforts. The president of the United States is a strong leader, he will listen to advice from many people, he will make the decision. These attacks on Bolton, including leaks coming out of the White House are a disgrace, absolute disgrace.”

The radio host also went after those blaming President Trump for “provoking” Iran  saying there is much “evil” in the world and the United States isn’t part of it.

“We’re not the problem, we’re not the ones who instigate wars and I’m sick and tired of hearing people on cable TV and other words suggest the president of the United States is provoking anything. We’re not provoking a damn thing. In fact we never provoke anything.”

Some Democrats are telling lies about America and President Trump is exposing those defaming the country, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Thursday.

Comparing U.S. border detention facilities to Nazi concentration camps and denying America is “great” — as the president’s slogan declares — are two top examples of such, Gingrich told host Laura Ingraham on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle.”

“The number of lies being told right now about the United States is astonishing,” he said. “But all Trump is doing is, he’s drawing to the surface the deep hatred which on-campus had certainly began by the middle of the 1960s and has grown and grown like a cancer.”

“If you are a Democrat today and go to a normal Democratic meeting and start talking about how wonderful America is, how great the Founding Fathers were, how remarkable the Constitution is, you’d be booed off the stage.”

Ingraham pointed to several examples of Democrats she considered to be defaming America.

In one clip, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo appeared to criticize President Trump’s 2016 campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.”

“We’re not going to make America great again. It was never that great,” the third-term Democrat said.

In another clip, Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., claimed, “There are things that are savagely wrong in this country.”

Gingrich claimed Trump is able to fire up his opponents by using slogans like “MAGA.”

“I think it’s amazing that President Trump has this knack for framing things in such a way that his opponents go crazy,” said the former Georgia congressman, whose books include “Trump’s America” and “Understanding Trump.”

The president says, ‘I’m proud to be an American,’ the left says, ‘I’m ashamed to be an American’.”

“You now have, for example, the president says, ‘Keep America Great,’ which I think is a great campaign slogan for next year. The Democrats promptly say, ‘No, keep America weak.’ The president says, ‘I’m proud to be an American,’ the left says, ‘I’m ashamed to be an American’.”

Marianne Williamson received the most notice her Democratic presidential bid will get when she compared ICE raids to conditions Jews faced in 1930s Germany, according to Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla.

During a speech on Tuesday, Williamson, an inspirational author and self-help guru, told the audience she is Jewish and she was, “raised to say ‘never again’.”

“It’s happening,” Williamson said. “There are some people who would say to me, ah, Miss Williamson, I think this Jewish analogy – you’ve really gone too far there. This is not the same type of situation at all. Some of those people will be deported to places so dangerous that there it actually is no different.”

During an appearance on “The Story” Thursday, Rep. Gaetz said the comments will not only get Williamson more attention than she has received so far in her campaign but that it is indicative of a problem within the Democratic Party.

“This is probably the most attention that the Marianne Williamson presidential campaign will ever get,” the lawmaker said.

“It’s indicative of what is going on the primary side of the Democratic Party. Each [candidate] is trying to be a little more outrageous to get attention.”

Gaetz then discussed comments from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., earlier this week, when she compared border detention facilities and concentration camps.

Gaetz admitted conditions in the facilities are bleak, but said the Holocaust comparison was inappropriate.

“We should never compare the challenges we face today to the extermination of six million Jews,” he said. “When we do that, when we invoke the holocaust or concentration camps with great frequency, then it undermines and trivializes the true horror that existed at that time.”
