Trey Gowdy: Mueller does not want to ‘participate’ in keeping the Russia story alive

Former congressman Trey Gowdy said Thursday on “The Story with Martha MacCallum” that Democrats want to keep the Russia investigation story “alive,” but Special Counsel Robert Mueller does not want to be involved in that.

Previewing next week’s hearings, Gowdy said: “They’re bringing him, they want to keep the story alive. He’s not going to participate in that. He’s not going to answer anything outside the four corners of his report.

“So this is just to have a day-long series. The focus will be on the questions. Mueller is not going to give you any interesting answers, I have quizzed him before.”

Mueller is set to testify on July 17.

TRUMP ATTY JAY SEKULOW: HERE’S THE QUESTIONS MUELLER MUST BE ASKED ON JULY 17

Mueller’s report found no proof that the Trump campaign conspired with Russia to influence the election, despite multiple outreach efforts by Russians, and did not reach a conclusion on whether President Trump obstructed justice.

Gowdy explained the type of response Mueller would give next week to MacCallum.

“And this will be his answer. Why didn’t I look into anything else? ‘Because I wasn’t asked to.’ When did I conclude there was no collusion? ‘When I interviewed the last witness.’ And that’ll be that,” Gowdy said.

The former congressman reiterated that nothing would be gained intellectually from the hearing next week.

“Mueller is a Marine, former FBI director. He’s not… He is going to answer the question maybe and nothing more,” Gowdy said.

“You will learn nothing next Wednesday except a lot of my former colleagues think they’re great questioners and think that they should have their five minutes.”

Liz Cheney: Pelosi-AOC dispute indicates ‘unraveling’ of the Democratic Party

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s, D-N.Y., and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi‘s latest disagreement is indicative of the Democratic Party‘s drastic shift to the left, according to Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo.

Ocasio-Cortez’s claim she and other freshman progressives are being “singled out” as “newly-elected women of color” shows Rep. Pelosi’s, D-Calif. attempts to quell dissent within her ranks is not working, Cheney claimed Thursday on “The Story.”

“I think what you’re watching is really the unraveling of the Democratic Party as we’ve known it in the past,” she said.

“You have a situation where you have this very radical wing of the House Democrats, and the Speaker has attempted many times to keep everybody under control by, in the past, moving very far left.

PELOSI RESPONDS TO AOC SLAM, SAYS CAUCUS HAS HER BACK FOR CONDEMNING CHIEF OF STAFF’S ‘OFFENSIVE’ TWEET

“You see now that’s not working for her.”

The House Republican Conference chairwoman added she believed Democrats have, “become a party of socialists.”

“They are advocating this far-left set of positions,” she said.

In that regard, Cheney claimed Pelosi recognizes far-left policy proposals are not within the mainstream of American politics and could pose an electoral problem for her party.

“She’s in a very difficult situation,” she said.

HOUSE DEM BLASTS ‘JUVENILE’ OCASIO CORTEZ, CHIEF OF STAFF: ‘IGNORANCE IS BEYOND BELIEF’

“She’s dealing with a situation where she’s being dragged very far to the radical left fringe.”

Cheney also claimed Republicans do not invoke race or ethnicity when engaging in a dispute among their ranks.

“We all have an obligation and responsibility to our constituents… to make arguments… based on substance,” she said.

Earlier Thursday, Pelosi stood her ground in response to Ocasio-Cortez claiming the speaker has been disrespectful to several minority lawmakers, saying she has the backing of her caucus and defending her handling of the rabble-rousing freshman ‘squad’ the Bronx Democrat leads.

Notably, Pelosi all but confirmed that a warning she delivered to rank-and-file lawmakers a day earlier about using social media for attacks on fellow Democrats was prompted by Ocasio-Cortez’s chief of staff.

Asked about her ongoing spat with the New York lawmaker, Pelosi acknowledged how she recently addressed — “at the request of my members” — an “offensive tweet that came out of one of the member’s offices” that compared centrist Democrats to segregationists. That tweet was authored and then deleted by Ocasio-Cortez’ chief of staff Saikat Chakrabarti.

“Our members took offense at that,” Pelosi said, claiming her comments received a positive response.

Juan Williams: Trump ‘scaremongering,’ using executive order to ‘go around Supreme Court’ on census

President Trump’s executive order asking federal agencies to aid in the accounting of the citizen and non-citizen population is a scare tactic, according to Juan Williams.

Trump issued the proclamation to circumvent the Supreme Court after it temporarily blocked the administration from adding a citizenship question to the 2020 census, Williams claimed Thursday on “The Five.”

“People are scaremongering and that is what this president is doing,” he said.

“Hillary Clinton said today this is weaponizing fear and bigotry — and I could not agree more.

TRUMP, ‘NOT BACKING DOWN’ IN EFFORT TO COUNT CITIZENS AMID CENSUS FIGHT, ANNOUNCES EXECUTIVE ORDER

“The Supreme Court of the United States has said ‘no’. He is going around the Supreme Court, around the Congress.”

The host added the presence of a citizenship question could make some people shy away from responding to the Constitutionally-mandated decennial count.

“It intimidates people who should be participating in our census to find how many people live in our country,” he said, alleging it could “depress” accounting of “non-whites.”

Expressing disagreement, host Jesse Watters said the citizenship question first appeared on the census when James Monroe was president.

FLASHBACK: TRUMP SEEKS 2020 CENSUS DELAY AFTER SUPREME COURT BLOCKS CITIZENSHIP QUESTION

“They’ve been doing this since the 1820s,” he said, adding he thought critics of the question are failing to differentiate between legal and illegal immigrants.

At the White House Thursday afternoon, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross and Attorney General William Barr flanked Trump as he announced the order.

The move would make use of “vast” federal databases and free up information sharing among various federal agencies concerning who they know is in the country, Trump said.

“Today I’m here to say we are not backing down in our effort to determine the citizenship status of the United States population,” the president told reporters, after slamming Democrats he said were playing politics with national security.

He called legal opposition to adding a citizenship question to the 2020 census “meritless.”

Speaking after Trump, Barr said the information collected via the executive order could be useful in determining the makeup of the Electoral College and congressional apportionment.

Former acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) director Tom Homan blamed Democrats Wednesday for prolonging the border crisis saying their “hatred” for President Trump is more important to them than lives of illegal immigrant children.

While appearing on “The Ingraham Angle,” host Laura Ingraham asked Homan if Democrats wanted to prolong the issues at the southern U.S.-Mexico border.

“Do you agree that the Democrats seem to want this crisis to go on?” Ingraham asked before adding, “I know that seems like a horrible thing to say.”

“I’ve said that for a year. They absolutely do,” Homan responded.

“They want this president to fail on border security because their hatred of this president and their drive to see him fail is more important to them than the lives of women and children,” Homan added.

He then defended Border Patrol agents against the media’s coverage saying that they are not mistreating migrants.

“The men and women of the Border Patrol are doing an outstanding job… over half are Latino descent, most of them are mothers and fathers themselves. They’re not making women drink out of toilets and they’re not molesting children,” Homan said.

“Is anybody talking about the four thousand men and women and children that were saved by the Border Patrol this year?”

Homan blasted Congress again saying flatly they are responsible for children in detention centers.

“Congress’ failure created this whole mess. They can look in the mirror if they want to blame someone for children being in overcrowded detention placement, it’s their fault,” he said.

A Connecticut hockey coach who went viral for telling his players to stand for the American and Canadian national anthems said Thursday he is not going to apologize for asking his players to show respect.

John Krupinsky, an assistant coach for the Danbury Hat Tricks of the Federal Hockey League, appeared on “Fox & Friends” and said the national anthem is important to him.

“I take pride in my country,” said Krupinksy, who is also a police sergeant with the Danbury Police Department.

“I’ve unfortunately seen it cover too many coffins. I think we can take a timeout to give two minutes’ worth of respect to our soldiers, to our firemen, to your policemen. I don’t think that’s asking too much. I’m not going to apologize for asking players to show a little bit of respect when it’s either the American or Canadian national anthem.”

Krupinsky insisted he would let his players protest, but on their own time.

“Some people said, ‘oh you wouldn’t let your players protest.’ I wanna be clear: My players would be free to protest on their day off,” he said. “If they had something they wanted to do. My owners are awesome – they would give them the team bus to go.

“But when they’re playing the national anthem, I don’t think it’s too much to ask your employees to show some respect for the flag and for the country.”

Krupinsky’s video went viral earlier this week. He was seen telling his players that he wouldn’t tolerate anyone disrespecting the national anthem.

“If there’s anybody here who is going to be disrespectful to either the American or the Canadian national anthem, grab your gear and get the f–k out now because you’ll never see the ice in this arena,” he said. “We don’t have that problem in hockey. We’re better than that, but there was no sense in wasting anybody’s time if that s–t was going to happen.”

He told Todd Starnes on “The Todd Starnes Radio Show” he didn’t expect the video to gain as much traction as it did.

Fox News’ Laura Ingraham spoke directly to California Governor Gavin Newsom Wednesday criticizing his response to the homeless crisis after his state gave illegal immigrants Medicaid benefits.

“Gavin, you have runaway homelessness in your state, it’s a total crisis right now. Most notably in San Francisco and L.A. It’s creating filthy and infectious conditions for Californians and especially those low income citizens who don’t send their kids to fancy private schools,” Ingraham said Wednesday on “The Ingraham Angle.”

TAMMY BRUCE: BORDER CRISIS PUTS US (AND MIGRANT FAMILIES) AT RISK FOR DANGEROUS INFECTIOUS DISEASES

Newsom signed a bill into law Tuesday making young illegal immigrants eligible for the Medicaid program in California, making it the first state to offer such taxpayer-funded health benefits to low-income adults age 25 and younger regardless of their immigration status.

The Fox News host criticized California Democrats and warned that the rest of the country could become like California if Democrats have their way.

“My friends, it’s all a Democrat-induced disaster. Instead of focusing on things like, I don’t know, mental health, infectious disease problems that are plaguing this state, the politicians of California are spending $98 million more to extend health care to illegals. That’s on top of the billions they already spend on them,” Ingraham said.

“The whole country will soon become the next California if the Democrats get their way.”

Ingraham pointed out that Democrats should prioritize Americans over other nationalities who “violate our laws.”

“These California Democrats and those seeking national office need to recognize that they were elected to represent the American people in this country, not the people from elsewhere who violate our laws to enter our country,” Ingraham said.

The 2020 Democratic field is a collection of nearly two-dozen unqualified presidential hopefuls — led by former Vice President Joe Biden, who is not ready for the job, Conrad Black said Wednesday.

“This ludicrous troop of unqualified candidates is kind of an astonishing herd of people that cannot be taken seriously,” the former media mogul claimed on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle.”

Black, 74, shared his assessment of the Democratic primary field after having spent several weeks abroad, without checking in too much on American news, he said.

CONRAD BLACK BLASTS PROSECUTORS, FBI IN FIRST US INTERVIEW SINCE PARDON FROM TRUMP

“I’ve been in England for six weeks … so you do not get a clear picture” of news events in the U.S., he told host Laura Ingraham.

“It’s striking to me, six weeks after I left, how certain trajectories have confirmed themselves,” he added. “Specifically, the president, as far as I can see, three points up from where he was in the polls and the Democrats are falling out amongst themselves.”

Black, a Canadian-born businessman who was convicted of fraud and later pardoned by President Trump, noted how only a few of the Democratic candidates are getting any solid media attention.

“You’ve got the far left of the Democrats making most of the noise and finally getting smacked down a bit by the establishment,” he said.

“The front-runner Joe Biden, in my opinion, [is] not up to the job, but not for the reasons that Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez … gives. It’s an absurd situation.”

He added he believes Trump has been a very successful president but admitted the president’s “style” leaves a lot to be desired by some critics.

However, any of Trump’s shortcomings pale in comparison to the “discordant gang of people with very little distinction to it in political terms” running against him, Black claimed.

Jesse Watters, Greg Gutfeld blast media for focus on Acosta over Epstein

Fox News’ Jesse Watters and Greg Gutfeld criticized the media and Democrats for focusing on Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta and not disgraced billionaire Jeffrey Epstein on “The Five” Wednesday.

“Why are we talking about Acosta?” Watters asked. “This is a person, Epstein, who is a serial pedophile. We should be talking about him. We should be talking about his victims and why is there no interest in Bill Clinton, an ex-president who flew all around the world with a known pedophile?”

WHAT WERE SOME OF THE MAJOR PROBLEMS ALLEGED WITH THE ACOSTA PLEA DEAL?

In a press conference earlier Wednesday, Acosta explained why Epstein served only 13 months in jail and registered as a sex offender after pleading guilty in 2008 to two felony prostitution charges, despite facing up to life imprisonment. Epstein was charged this week with sex trafficking and conspiracy during the early 2000s based on new evidence and pleaded not guilty on Monday in New York City federal court.

Acosta claimed that the South Florida U.S. attorney’s office he oversaw at the time had fought for a tougher punishment when state prosecutors were ready to let Epstein “walk free.”

Watters blasted the media for their coverage, saying they don’t really care about Epstein’s victims.

“Why has the media decided to focus on Acosta? It’s just to get a scalp because to me it doesn’t seem like they really care about the victims,” Watters said.

Gutfeld chimed in with his own criticism of the coverage.

“Because we live… in a media world where objective news and the Democratic consensus are exactly the same. So only [in this world] could a Democratic donor’s perversion reflect badly on a Republican,” Gutfeld said, adding that the focus on Acosta was due to Trump holding the nation’s highest office.

“Why is Acosta the story? Because Trump is president,” Gutfeld said.

Fox News chief national correspondent Ed Henry and his sister, Colleen, are making good progress in their recoveries after liver donation surgeries, their family said Wednesday.

Both siblings are “awake, chatty, and visiting with family,” and incredibly, Ed was even able to walk down the hall on Wednesday to see his younger sister for the first time since the surgery.

Ed’s family said doctors have been encouraged by how well both surgeries went and how their old and new livers have been performing so far.

Ed and Colleen have remained in the ICU, where doctors said they’ll continue recovering.

The Fox News correspondent also wanted to thank everyone for the outpouring of love, support and prayers that have been shared since Henry emotionally revealed last weekend he was donating part of his liver to save his sister’s life.

In a piece for FoxNews.com, Henry wrote: “My goal is much simpler: I am determined to do whatever I can to give my sister the greatest gift of all, which quite simply is life.”

He added, “The fact is that the risk of mortality for me is extremely low – less than 1 percent, according to the doctors. I will gladly take on the small risk of what the paperwork I signed at the hospital last week calls a “large midline incision” for the gigantic reward of having my sister around for a very long time.”

Speaking about the decision on “Fox & Friends,” he said the people around him at his job and in his life have helped him bear the burden of taking on the unknown to help save his baby sister.

“Now that I’ve caught my breath, my parents have been great, my wife’s been great, my kids are strong beyond their years,” he said.

“I can’t forget to say that Suzanne Scott, our C.E.O., you know, it’s funny, you feel a burden and then you feel like it’s lifted when people around you help you. Jay Wallace our president, Lauren Petterson as well, one of our great executives — they were asking me to do all kinds of things like go to the debates in Miami and do these things… but you’re running out to the hospital, taking another blood test. I finally just said, Suzanne, I can’t do this, and she was like, go help your sister. Everybody at Fox — and they are amazing… we’re family.”

Former New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez said Wednesday on “Outnumbered” that getting rid of the Department of Homeland Security – as  Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently suggested – is “pure insanity” and would put the country at risk.

“Homeland Security was created in order to keep America safe, it was created after 9/11. I just think Ocasio-Cortez is into the shock and awe. She wants to make a statement and be ahead of everything,” said Martinez, who served as the state’s Republican governor from 2011 to 2019.

Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., made her remarks during a Friday appearance on the New Yorker Radio with host David Remnick, bringing up the fact that Immigration and Customs Enforcement is under DHS.

AOC PUSHES BACK AT PELOSI, SAYS HOUSE SPEAKER’S BELITTLING OF PROGRESSIVES ‘PUZZLING’

“Would you get rid of the Department of Homeland Security, too?” Remnick asked.

“I think so. I think we need to undo a lot of the egregious, umm, a lot of the egregious mistakes that the Bush administration did,” said Ocasio-Cortez, who has championed the elimination of ICE.

Martinez said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is trying to balance the party and keep the focus away from Ocasio-Cortez’s “far left” ideas before the 2020 presidential election.

Panelist Charlie Hurt said it was “amazing” that Pelosi, D-Calif., used to be on the far left of the Democratic Party, and is now seeming like the “center of her party.”

“Joe Biden used to be the center of the party. Now he’s on the right-wing fringe of his party and it’s not healthy for the Democrats,” said Hurt, joking that Ocasio-Cortez and other liberal freshmen members should call themselves “the committee to re-elect Donald Trump” because their policy ideas could hurt Democrats in 2020.
