Donna Brazile on Joe Biden’s flip-flops: We should ’embrace’ the evolution of politicians

As 2020 presidential hopeful Joe Biden continues to change up his stances on major issues, Fox News contributor and former Democratic National Committee Chair Donna Brazile argued that the American people should “embrace” the former vice president evolving in his ideas.

During a Wednesday morning appearance on “Fox & Friends,” Brazile discussed Biden’s recent flip-flop on China; last month he attempted to quell fears about the country, but last week admitted he was “worried” about China, adding that it’s important for America to invest in itself before sparking fears about foreign productivity.

Brazile said Biden’s most recent position is the correct one – we should be wary of China but invest first in ourselves in order to be competitive.

“It’s a threat that we have to deal with not just by adding pressure but we need our allies on board with us,” Brazile said. “We need to make sure and that we go into negotiations with the very toughest position. Joe Biden is also right – that we have to invest in our own in order to compete with China in the future,” she continued.

Hosts went on to point out a pattern in Biden’s campaign of the former vice president expressing different viewpoints about issues he vehemently defended even days prior. Most newsworthy was his consistent support of the Hyde Amendment, which he rescinded during a speech last week. The amendment prevents federal funding from being used for abortions except in the case of rape, incest or a life-threatening pregnancy.

TRUMP, BIDEN ‘EVISCERATE’ EACH OTHER AS PRESS QUESTIONS POTUS’ POLLS

Brazile admitted that she may be being “charitable,” she believes it’s important to allow politicians to expand their viewpoints.

“When they evolve, we should embrace their evolution,” she said. “Perhaps this is not an evolution in his thoughts but is he explaining it better now.”

Regardless of Biden’s increasingly progressive stances, Brazile said she’s “still shopping” for a candidate to support in the 2020 election.

However, she spoke out against President Trump’s designation of Biden as “sleepy” and the insinuation that the presidential candidate isn’t working as hard on the campaign trail as his Democratic colleagues.

WARNING SIGNS FOR TRUMP AS NEW POLL SHOWS BIDEN, OTHER DEMS WITH 2020 EDGE

“He is not sleeping. He’s not, you know, over there on the sidelines,” Brazile said. “He is raising money, he’s putting together a team. Remember, he just came out of the box a couple of weeks ago, unlike the other candidates who have been running for the last three months,” she continued.

Sean Hannity decried NBC Tuesday over the decision to have Rachel Maddow moderate part of the Democratic debates this month.

“It literally includes the chief conspiracy theorist,” he said of the MSNBC host who will join Lester Holt, Savannah Guthrie, Jose Diaz-Balart and Chuck Todd for the June 26 and 27 debates.

RACHEL MADDOW TO HELP MODERATE FIRST DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY DEBATE

“Didn’t we tell you this would happen, that the media would refuse to hold any of their ‘fake news’ fanatics accountable?” Hannity mused.

He said NBC is rewarding Maddow’s “fake news” by giving her more air time and wondered how “real” reporters feel about being passed over by  “Tinfoil hat-Maddow, the single biggest liar, conspiracy theorist in the country, the person that pushed the Russiagate lies night after night.”

Maddow will host co-host the second hour of both nights alongside Holt and Todd. Holt will host the entirety of the debate.

“Here’s what we’re going to do,” Hannity joked to guests Sean Spicer and Jesse Watters. “We’ll have a debate moderated by me, the Great One [Mark Levin], Rush Limbaugh, Jesse can join us, and Laura [Ingraham] and Tucker [Carlson]. How’s that?”

Spicer said he was “excited” to see Maddow at the debate because she’s “so extreme” that she will drag all of the candidates farther to the “extreme left.”

Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report on the Russia investigation should never have been written, according to Alan Dershowitz.

The Constitution does not explicitly provide for special counsels or special prosecutors, Dershowitz said Tuesday on “The Ingraham Angle.”

He added such offices are “inconsistent” with the founding document, adding that there wasn’t a pretense for the several-hundred-page conclusion to the investigation into President Trump.

HOUSE VOTES TO HOLD BARR, MCGAHN IN ‘CONTEMPT,’ WITH ANOTHER VOTE EXPECTED SOON

Dershowitz also claimed Democrats have no legal right to have Mueller testify before them.

“Prosecutors have a right to say only one thing: We have concluded there’s no evidence sufficient to charge the president with Russian collusion or obstruction of justice, period. I’m taking no questions, I’m making no public report. I’m giving my findings to the attorney general.

“No prosecutor should go beyond that.”

Earlier Tuesday, House Democrats passed a civil enforcement resolution they said effectively holds Attorney General William Barr and former White House counsel Don McGahn in contempt of Congress.

Barr previously skipped a hearing on the findings of the Mueller report after Trump asserted executive privilege.

The news came just a day after a key Democrat-led committee postponed its own contempt vote and said the Justice Department was cooperating with its investigation.

On Monday, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., announced he had reached a deal with the Justice Department to access key documents related to potential obstruction of justice, and that he would pause efforts to have the full House vote on that measure.

House Judiciary Committee ranking member Doug Collins mocked congressional Democrats on “Fox & Friends” Tuesday for continuing to breathe life into the Rober Mueller Russia investigation in an effort to impeach President Trump.

“It’s like watching late-night reruns on the cable channels where you’ve seen all the shows. You know what they’re going to say, you laugh at the jokes before they ever get there,” he said.

“The problem was we just ended up seeing someone yesterday who’s trying to re-create his career for 45 years, saying: ‘I was part of a corrupt organization. I testified and now I’m going to say everything is worse than what I did.’ That’s how he’s made a living for 45 years.”

NADLER PUTS BARR CONTEMPT PUSH ON HOLD AFTER STRIKING MUELLER REPORT DEAL

House Democrats held a hearing on Capitol Hill Monday and called Watergate whistleblower and CNN contributor John Dean as a witness. Collins questioned the validity of such a hearing and implied Democrats were acting hypocritically.

“Just a few years ago it was brought up and one of our [Republcan] candidates talked about Russia being a threat and the former President, Mr. Obama said … that the 80s are asking for their foreign policy back. Well guess what, this committee is now hearing from the 70s and they want their star witness back,” Collins told the committee.

Collins told Fox News he believes Democrats are trying to tie Trump to Nixon in an effort to expedite impeachment proceedings against the Commander-in-Chief.

“Why are [Democrats] bringing in someone, except for star value — let’s be very honest. What they wanted there is they wanted the word Nixon and impeachment because they were trying to tie that word to the president,” he told “Fox & Friends” host Brian Kilmeade.

“They cannot find any other way to tie the president to anything else except innuendo and off candid remarks, they want impeachment, they let their base think they are doing something.

Collins also said House Democrats are desperately trying to appease their base after promising to work tirelessly to remove Trump from office

“They promised their base that the Mueller report would take this president down. They couldn’t run against the president who has the best economy who has actually worked on trade deals and raised our standing in the world and who has done things they promised they would do. They can’t run on that,” he said.

“They are trying to help the ones running for president, and what we are finding out they will take little bits an pieces and what about this. My question to our committee, the Mueller report had unlimited resources, grand jury, subpoena options, everything that we don’t have. How is our committee who can’t seem to get through a hearing yesterday without looking like a total joke, how are they going to investigate better than Mueller who was fully funded and after a specific reason, we won’t be able to do that, they are trying to tar the president.” c

Who ‘unsettled’ who? Jesse Watters and Juan Williams disagree on Trump and Biden’s verbal sparring

Is the verbal sparring unsettling former Vice President Joe Biden or President Trump?

The Five” discussed the possible 2020 presidential election opponents as they continue to take shots at one another Tuesday.

“I would rather run against, I think, Biden than anybody. I think he is weakest mentally,” Trump told reporters.  “Joe Biden is a dummy.”

Biden, the frontrunner in the Democratic presidential race, called the president an “existential threat to America” Tuesday in Iowa adding, “This is a guy who does everything to separate and frighten people.”

BIDEN TO SLAM TRUMP AS ‘EXISTENTIAL THREAT’ DURING DUELING IOWA STOPS

On “The Five,” Juan Williams said he thinks Biden is clearly under the president’s skin.

“I’m telling you what’s clear is that Joe Biden had unsettled Donald Trump. What he says Joe Biden is dumb or slow, please,” Williams said.

However, co-host Jesse Watters disagreed, arguing instead that it was Biden who was “unsettled.”

“I think Trump has unsettled Joe Biden because he flip-flopped on China today. He’s had actually China is our competitor and is a huge threat,” the “Watters’ World” host said.

AS TRUMP LIKENS BIDEN TO ‘CROOKED HILLARY,’ BIDEN SAYS TRUMP ERA ‘HAS GOT TO END’

Co-host Greg Gutfeld argued that Biden will say anything to keep the “spotlight.”

“He is in a bad situation where the more you look, the less you see. He has cruised along as a co-star, secondary character in a sitcom, not the star. Now you know why because he will say anything for the spotlight,” Gutfeld said.

Biden and Trump have repeatedly taken shots at one another in recent weeks, offering a glimpse of what a potential 2020 race would look like.

Biden, though, is leading the Democratic primary field by double digits in recent national polls.

Nevertheless, Trump said he hopes to run against Biden in the 2020 general election.

Trump, who will be 73 on Friday, has repeatedly said he would “easily” beat Biden in 2020 and has poked fun at the former vice president’s age while giving the 76-year-old new nicknames including “Sleepy Joe” and “1 percent Joe.”

El Paso border official on enormous jump in family apprehensions: Every day it continues, ‘security threats increase’

A U.S. Border Patrol official said Tuesday that “border security threats” remain as his officers deal with a staggering increase in the number of migrants arriving in the area.

More than 104,000 family unit apprehensions have been made in the El Paso Sector through May of this fiscal year, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. In the same period of 2018, there were 4,733 apprehensions, a more than 2,100 percent rise.

Aaron Hull, Chief Border Patrol Agent in the El Paso Sector, was asked on “America’s Newsroom” about the “enormous” increase, explaining the toll it has taken on authorities.

“The border security threats remain. In addition to the family unit aliens and unaccompanied children we’re catching, we continue to catch criminals, pedophiles, people with contagious diseases,” he explained.

Hull said, “every day that it continues, every day our border security threats increase,” since agents are having to perform “stewardship” duties for children and families, rather than focusing on securing border areas between the ports of entry.

Bill Hemmer, citing statistics from Immigration and Customs Enforcement, asked how agents can sort through the more than 200,000 who have claimed to be part of a family unit since December.

Hull said each person “is a human being” with their own “individual background and health conditions.” He said each one must be subject to their own “immigration inspection” and often those who claim to be part of a family unit are not being truthful.

“There are very serious security threats and we catch people from all around the world and their intentions for entering this country are not always good,” he said.

The number of migrants apprehended at America’s southern border skyrocketed in May to levels not seen in over a decade, with U.S. Customs and Border Protection reporting nearly 133,000 arrests for the month.

The number surpassed 144,000 when counting migrants deemed inadmissible — more than a 30 percent increase from the prior month and double the influx recorded at the beginning of the year.

“We are in full-blown emergency,” a CBP official said last week.

Fox News’ Laura Ingraham addressed politicians who are putting America’s health and well-being “at risk,” specifically the government of California.

“Over the weekend, we learned that California has gone from sanctuary state for dreamers to just being a sucker state for Americans. They just announced state budget deal will now give health care benefits to many adult illegals too. Those between the ages of 19 and 25 will now be eligible for California’s ‘Medicaid’ program known as ‘Medi-Cal,'” Ingraham said Monday night on “The Ingraham Angle.”

ICE TO HIRE CONTRACTOR TO TRANSPORT 225,000 MIGRANTS TO SHELTERS ACROSS THE US

Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom proposed $98 million a year to cover low-income illegal immigrants between the ages of 19 and 25, but the state Assembly’s bill would cover all illegal immigrants over the age of 19 living in California – a proposal that would cost an estimated $3.4 billion.

The state Senate, meanwhile, wants to cover adults ages 19 to 25, plus seniors 65 and older.

Ingraham argued California is ignoring their homeless problem and homeless vets and instead helping in favor of illegal immigrants.

“Think those homeless people including homeless vets might be able to use that money?” Ingraham said.

Ingraham also pointed out that Californians will tax citizens who don’t have health insurance, essentially reviving the penalty part of the Affordable Care Act.

“How they’re going to pay for this by the way, by taxing citizens who don’t have health insurance. In other words, reviving the penalty of Obamacare,” Ingraham said.

The Fox News host also brought up the 500 migrants from African nations — including the Republic of Congo — that have been apprehended in Texas, at the Del Rio Border Patrol sector of the U.S.-Mexico border, since May 30, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

The African migrants were recently sent to San Antonio, Texas while eastern Congo is experiencing an Ebola outbreak with over 2,000 cases reported.

Ingraham raised concerns for the health of San Antonio citizens.

“One wonders where is the concern for the health of the San Antonio citizenry? Frankly citizens across the United States. Who’s going to translate their concerns to federal officials? And why is no one questioning the pressure that this will place on communities across the country that are now obligated to house, educate, and feed people from other continents when we seem incapable in some cases of caring for our own citizens,” Ingraham said.

“John Dean is a convicted felon, he was disbarred many decades ago for ‘being guilty of unethical, unprofessional, and unwarranted conduct.’ Oh, disbarred too, perfect guy for fake news CNN. Liar. Fake news. Now the felon rakes in a lot of cash trashing Donald Trump daily for the mainstream lying media mob,” Hannity said on his television show, not holding back.

Dean, the former White House counsel to Richard Nixon, testified Monday that he sees “remarkable parallels” between Watergate and the Russia investigation.

The Fox News host called Dean a “prop” and the hearing “propaganda.”

“John Dean has been used as a prop by the mainstream media mob in the Democratic Party for years. Today’s hearing was a sham, a circus. A Democratic propaganda, paid for by you, the American people,” Hannity said.

Hannity praised President Trump for using executive privilege to prevent Democrats from ‘dragging’ America through yet another investigation.

“Now it is all over, there was no collusion, and the president will not allow Democrats to literally drag Americans through this process, yet again, for what would be a fifth investigation. And that’s why the president is now rightly saying ‘enough’s enough’ asserting executive privilege,” Hannity said.

Hannity criticized Democrats for costing White House workers, who serve their country, thousands in legal fees.

“House Democrats, they are not going to have the ability to re-litigate the Russia probe for a fifth time. It’s now abuse of power and outright harassment of a duly elected president.  More importantly, all the people that work for the president trying to serve their country should not have to shell out tens and tens of thousands of dollars in new legal fees answering the same questions over and over and over again,” Hannity said.

Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke, D-Texas, and New York Mayor Bill de Blasio face “big obstacles” as they seek to clinch the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.

Lisa Boothe made the claim Monday on “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” after watching a clip of O’Rourke reacting to polls showing him garnering two percent support among Iowa Democrats, while de Blasio was listed at zero percent.

“I don’t know that this many months out from the caucuses in Iowa, that these polls really indicate what our prospects are,” O’Rourke told ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos.

“Not only does he seem delusional, but he’s back-tracked in his campaign,” Boothe claimed. “But, it’s not as bad as Bill de Blasio who is registering at zero right now in Iowa. So, both are facing big obstacles ahead of them.”

Host Tucker Carlson added he thought de Blasio would be able to garner some figure of support in Iowa, more than a thousand miles from the mayor’s home.

“The idea was the farther you get from New York City, the less people know about what a disaster he is, so the more likely they are to support him,” Carlson claimed.

The poll Boothe cited was conducted by the Des Moines Register and released Saturday, surveying likely Democratic caucus-goers in Iowa.

It showed Joe Biden in the lead, but with softer support than last December, and a virtual tie for second place among Sens. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. and Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass. and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg.

House Democrats are looking to “destroy” the Trump presidency with a continued effort to revive the Mueller report, according to Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.

“There is nothing going on in the House about protecting the 2020 election, they are trying to nullify the 2016 election. Mueller has spoken, he found no
collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians after two years, 25 million dollars, 19 lawyers and 40 FBI agents,” Graham told “The Story with Martha MacCallum” Monday.

“He decided not to bring any charges regarding the obstruction of justice because there is no crime here. The bottom line is what the House is doing is politically motivated, trying to destroy the Trump presidency.”

HOUSE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE TO HOLD MUELLER REPORT HEARING WITH WATERGATE FIGURE JOHN DEAN

Dean, the former White House counsel to Richard Nixon, testified before the House Judiciary Committee Monday saying that he sees “remarkable parallels” between Watergate and the findings of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report.

Graham assured MacCallum that the Senate was done with the Mueller report.

“I can assure you that we are done with the Mueller investigation in the Senate. They can talk to John Dean until the cows come home, we are not doing anything in the Senate regarding the Mueller report,” Graham said.

The senator also said that Attorney General William Bar and U.S. Attorney John Durham are focusing on the origins of the Russia investigation, trying to get answers to some important questions.

“Nobody from the FBI, no one ever told candidate Trump that ‘we think some people working for you may be working with the Russians.’ Why did they not tell Trump what they told the Democratic Party?” Graham said.

The Justice Department revealed Monday it is investigating the activities of several “non-governmental organizations and individuals” and that it was looking into the involvement of “foreign intelligence services.”
