Fox anchor Maria Bartiromo believes America only have one choice when it comes to trade with China.

During an appearance on “America’s Newsroom” Friday, Bartiromo said, “I don’t think the U.S. has any choice but to get tough” as the Trump administration moved ahead with increased tariffs on $200 billion in Chinese goods.

The move came after a round of trade talks between the U.S. and China on Thursday failed to produce an agreement.

The new tariffs raised the import taxes of those goods from 10 percent to 25 percent at 12:01 a.m. Friday as talks were set to continue Friday.

US TO SLAP TARIFFS ON $200B IN CHINESE GOODS, WH SAYS, BUT TRADE TALKS TO RESUME FRIDAY

“I think it was pretty extraordinary that the Chinese backtracked on all of the things that the two had agreed upon within these last 10 rounds of trade talks,” Bartiromo said on Friday.

She added, “The big ticket items are forced transfer of technology, stealing intellectual property which has cost our companies, American companies, tens of billions of dollars. The Chinese are reluctant to make it a law, change their laws to say no stealing of IP, change their laws to say no forced transfer of technology. So look, the U.S. — I don’t think the U.S. has any choice but to get tough.”

The two world’s largest economies were nearing a trade deal to open up the Chinese market to American companies, but negotiations fell apart when China called for changes to the text that served as a blueprint for a pact, the New York Times reported. U.S. negotiators have also accused China of reneging on its commitments.

Trump responded in a Sunday tweet by threatening to raise existing tariffs to 25 percent and impose new ones on billions of dollars in Chines imported goods.

“These are really important issues. The president has been very clear we’re not going to take it anymore. And so if it’s not the deal that he’s talking about, then I can’t see him going through with it,” Bartiromo said.

PRESIDENT TRUMP THINKS CHINA IS GETTING ‘COLD FEET’ ON TRADE PROMISES: SEN. JOHN THUNE

The bulk of goods facing increase tariffs are items such as circuit boards, vehicle parts and machinery, according to the Wall Street Journal. The proposed tariffs on the reminder of Chinese imports – the $200 billion worth of goods – would no doubt affect consumers. Those goods include iPhones, laptops, clothing and other everyday products.

“The U.S. Economy is really going well. And if you’re going to fight back and be pushing back on China, now is the time to do it when we just came off 3.2 percent economic growth, when we’re talking about growth of about 3 percent year over year in 2018 and when jobs are plentiful and unemployment is at record lows,” Bartiromo said.

“It is going to take some oomph out of the economy though.”

She then went on to explain why, attributing economists she had spoken with about the situation.

“If we don’t get a deal it’s going to cut 2/10 of a percent out of growth in the U.S. and it’s going to cut 4/10 of a percent out of the Chinese economy” Bartiromo said.

“So I think both sides want to deal but the Chinese probably need it a lot more than the U.S. do frankly.”

Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., slammed FBI Director James Comey saying “he made a mess of the FBI” on “Fox & Friends” Friday.

“This is a guy who continues to just make a mockery of the entire FBI and the Department of Justice,” Nunes said, reacting to Comey’s appearance at CNN’s town hall event on Thursday.

“This is the guy who, remember, leaked his memos in order to make sure that a Special Counsel was created to investigate the president.

“This is the guy who put an unverified dossier in front of a FISA court. There are lots of problems with Comey’s story. None of it matches up with reality.”

President Trump fired Comey on May 8, 2017, prompting the FBI to investigate possible charges of obstruction and Russian collusion by the Trump 2016 campaign.

The FBI’s tactics of gathering intelligence over the course of the investigation have spurred an internal inquiry by the Justice Department’s inspector general, Michael Horowitz.

INSPECTOR GENERAL PROBING ROLD OF TRUMP DOSSIER IN SECURING SURVEILLANCE WARRANT FOR AIDE

Horowitz’s review will examine the methods the FBI used to secure a warrant to surveil former Trump campaign aide Carter Page by using the dossier that was compiled by Christopher Steele, a former British spy.

“The FBI in my view took very reasonable steps, careful steps to try and understand is that true,” Comey said Thursday of the FBI surveillance tactics on members of Trump’s 2016 campaign, dubbed “spying” by Trump and Attorney General William Barr.

“I can’t believe Republicans would have wanted it any other way and we acted in a very responsible, limited and constrained way. I’m proud of the way we conducted ourselves.”

“There’s no question as it relates to the FISA on Carter Page that nothing was done by the book,” Nunes said. “In fact, it was all done – it was all very irregular.”

Comey says he is not against the FBI’s internal review but is confident that the inspector general won’t uncover any misconduct by the FBI.

Nunes disagreed.

“I don’t think he’s telling the truth, is the bottom line here,” he said. “The former FBI director is not a stupid man and he’s acting awfully stupid…Remember when he came before our task force at the end of the last Congress, this is a man who couldn’t answer a question. I think, you know, over 100 times said things like, ‘I don’t recall’ so whenever put under oath on a body like the legislative body of Congress, the guy couldn’t answer a question. He could do a town hall and make a lot of things up but look I think Mr. Comey is in a lot of trouble and he should be. He made a mess of the FBI.”

Special Counsel Robert Mueller delivered the findings of his over the two-year investigation to the attorney general in March, who summarized that the president had not obstructed justice in the investigation, a conclusion that Mueller later criticized.

Democrats in the House Judiciary Committee have continued to spar over Barr’s summary of the report, and have voted to hold the attorney general in contempt of Congress for defying a subpoena for the unredacted version of Mueller’s report and other documents related to the investigation.

The Senate Intelligence Committee also subpoenaed Donald Trump Jr., the president’s son, on Wednesday in regards to his knowledge of a deal to build Trump Tower in Russia.  Trump Jr. testified to the Senate Judiciary Committee in 2017 that he knew about the plan only “peripherally” but Michael Cohen, Trump’s ex-lawyer testified in February that he spoke to Trump Jr. about it approximately 10 times.

A new Monmouth University poll shows that Joe Biden is the clear front-runner for New Hampshire’s first-in-the-nation Democratic primary, but former Education Secretary Bill Bennett is cautioning there’s a “long way” to go.

The Monmouth survey, released Thursday, found the former vice president winning 36 percent support among likely New Hampshire Democratic voters, followed by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., at 18 percent. No other candidates crossed the double-digit threshold.

Biden also received the best favorability rating in the poll, at 80 percent positive and 15 percent negative.

MARC THIESSEN: BIDEN’S PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN IS ALREADY IN TROUBLE

“I still think that we’re gonna see gaffes by Joe Biden. I think we’re gonna see a rehash of his history that the left is gonna bash him with. And I think he’s going to be damaged by it,” Bennett said on “America’s Newsroom” on Friday. “So we shall see.”

He noted that a majority of respondents in the Monmouth poll said they are focused on picking the candidate who can defeat President Trump in a general election (68 percent), as opposed to someone who will build on former President Barack Obama’s legacy (34 percent).

“The motivational factor here is Donald Trump,” Bennett said.

Bennett also noted that many Democratic presidential hopefuls are “avoiding” discussing the economy, which continues to do well.

He argued it will be a winning strategy for Trump to focus on the economy, along with immigration, regardless of his general election opponent.

Geraldo Rivera urges the Trump administration to ‘fight the Democrats every step of the way’

Westlake Legal Group 051019_ff_rivera_1280 Geraldo Rivera urges the Trump administration to 'fight the Democrats every step of the way' Talia Kaplan fox-news/world/world-regions/china fox-news/world/trade fox-news/us fox-news/topic/fox-news-flash fox-news/politics/house-of-representatives/republicans fox-news/politics/house-of-representatives/democrats fox-news/person/robert-mueller fox-news/person/donald-trump fox-news/news-events/russia-investigation fox news fnc/politics fnc article 1f22bce8-4417-50e1-9d13-e2dd2928c29d

Fox News correspondent-at-large Geraldo Rivera said on “Fox & Friends” Friday, “I urge the Trump administration from the top down to fight the Democrats every step of the way.”

Rivera made the comment in response to the Senate Intelligence Committee, chaired by Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., issuing a subpoena to Donald Trump Jr. this week.

A statement from Trump Jr.’s camp slammed Burr as a “so-called Republican” and called him “too cowardly to stand up to” Vice Chairman Mark Warner, D-Va., whom the statement referred to as Burr’s apparent “boss.”

“I think the president’s frustration, while obvious, and his subdued anger is totally justified. How many whacks do they get at this thing before they finally call it case closed,” Rivera said.

DONALD TRUMP JR. SUBPOENAED BY SENATE INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE, SOURCE SAYS

The subpoena is in regards to remarks President Trump’s oldest son made while testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee in 2017, The Associated Press reported, citing a person familiar with the situation.

“Don Jr. has testified, I think, it’s 25 hours before one committee, eight or nine hours before a second committee. Over 30 hours total. For goodness sake at what point is enough, enough?” Rivera asked.

“I urge, I’m a moderate person generally speaking, I like bipartisanship, but I urge the Trump administration from the top down to fight the Democrats every step of the way.”

The committee’s desire to speak to Trump Jr. follows testimony from Michael Cohen, the president’s former attorney, in February.

Cohen told a House committee at the time that he had briefed Trump Jr. approximately 10 times about a plan to build a Trump Tower in Moscow. Trump Jr. told the Senate Judiciary Committee in 2017 he was only “peripherally aware” of the proposal.

The Senate Intelligence Committee has been looking into Russian election interference and Trump’s ties to Russia for the last two years.

“It’s (California Rep. Adam) Schiff and (House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold) Nadler and (California Rep. Maxine) Waters led by (House) Speaker Pelosi. They have malicious intents, I believe,” Rivera said.

“They don’t want truth here. They want to embarrass the president. They want to continue to relitigate the Mueller report. There was no collusion found. For goodness sake let’s get over this.”

He went on to say, “You have accused this president of the most vial things possible. He has been exonerated largely by the Mueller report. The Mueller report says there’s no collusion. The obstruction case is so lame, I want the country to get going,” Rivera said.

“That bipartisanship that is evidence now in the Senate Intelligence Committee with what Senator Burr did, let’s take that bipartisanship and apply it to infrastructure, apply it to the immigration situation, to support the president on trade. Get together and make something great happen rather than continually going back over the same territory.”

“They have tortured this man and his administration for over two years,” Rivera said adding, “Enough, let’s get this thing behind us. If I were Don, Jr., I would just fight them.”

HOUSE PANEL VOTES TO HOLD BARR IN CONTEMPT, AS TRUMP ASSERTS EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE OVER MUELLER FILES

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said she agree with House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler’s statement that the U.S. is currently facing a “constitutional crisis” after the panel voted to hold Attorney General William Barr in contempt of Congress on Wednesday.

“This administration wants to have a constitutional crisis because they do not respect the oath of office that they take,” Pelosi said on Capitol Hill on Thursday.

She added, “Every day they are advertising their obstruction of justice by ignoring subpoenas and by just declaring that people shouldn’t come and speak to Congress so that the American people can find out the truth about the Russian disruption of our election, so that it doesn’t happen again.”

Rivera responded on Friday by saying what Pelosi said “is absolute baloney.”

“We know because of the Mueller report there was no collusion. So her bringing in Russia and intelligence or counterintelligence at this late date, is to try to relitigate, try to go back over what Mueller did, no collusion, no collusion, full stop, get over it,” Rivera said.

“In terms of obstruction, because there’s no underlying crime, the president, if he did obstruct anything, he was not obstructing justice, he was obstructing injustice.”

He added, “The Republicans have to continually stress this was a runaway effort to try to undermine, if not remove the president of the United States for being a traitor, a spy, in Vladimir Putin’s pocket, all of it fake, all of it false, dossier false.”

Rivera went on to say, “That’s the origin, that’s the foundation of everything the Democrats are doing now so if there’s no foundation, now they continue to go forward, this committee, that committee, this subpoena, that subpoena.”

“That’s what I mean when I say this is not a sincere effort to try to root out truth, this is an effort to continually undermine the president of the United States. And I do believe it’s going to backfire,” Rivera said.

The brother of slain Border Patrol agent Brian Terry said Democrats like Rep. Jerry Nadler — who is leading the charge to hold Attorney General William Barr in contempt – “turned their back on an American hero” years ago to protect Obama administration official Eric Holder.

Kent Terry’s comments on “Fox & Friends” Friday come as the House is debating whether to hold Barr in contempt over his handling of the Mueller report’s release.

Holder, the last attorney general voted to be held in contempt by the House, was done so for refusing to hand over documents related to the Fast and Furious gun-running scandal, where Justice Department officials tracked thousands of guns smuggled across the U.S.-Mexico border but did nothing to stop them.

Brian Terry’s death in 2010 brought that scandal into the national spotlight as two guns tied to it were found at the scene of his murder.

NADLER ONCE SLAMMED HOLDER CONTEMPT VOTE, NOW LEADS CHARGE AGAINST BARR

“They turned their back on an American hero to protect Eric Holder,” Kent Terry told ‘Fox & Friends’, when asked if what is happening to Barr now gave him flashbacks to how lawmakers dealt with Holder. “It’s sickening. It’s just sad that they are dishonoring my brother that way.”

Nadler, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, sang a different tune about Holder, tweeting at the time that the campaign against him was a “shameful, politically-motivated GOP vote” and participated in a walkout with more than 100 other Democrats.

‘Fox & Friends’ host Steve Doocy also pointed out the “irony” of the current situation – that Barr is being criticized for not providing an unredacted copy of the Muller report, while Kent Terry is seeking an unredacted version of the Fast and Furious file.

The AFL-CIO, the largest labor organization in the U.S., came under fire Thursday after tweeting a parody version of a real Delta Air Lines print ad that suggested that workers could find other uses for the $700 a year they would spend on union dues.

The parody ad suggests that the workers could instead spend $1,200 to build a guillotine — perhaps implying that the device would be used on company executives.

The AFL-CIO tweet, which was later deleted, showed the two ads side-by-side, with a big red “X” over the real Delta ad and a big red check mark over the parody ad.

The AFL-CIO, the largest labor organization in the U.S., came under fire on Thursday after tweeting a picture of a guillotine and apparently threatening Delta CEO Ed Bastian after the company came out against unionization. (Twitter)

The tweet appeared to be aimed at Delta CEO Ed Bastian, after the company came out against efforts by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers to get certain Delta employees to unionize.

The AFL-CIO, which represents 12.5 million union workers, jumped to criticize Delta for opposing unionization and shared the ill-advised Twitter joke.

The tweet remained online for at least a couple of hours before it was deleted.

AFL-CIO spokeswoman Carolyn Bobb later told CNN that the labor organization didn’t make the image, having just found it on social media.

“We strive to keep our Twitter account actively engaging and real to advocate for working people,” she said. “We came across and shared this Internet meme. We realize it was in poor taste, that [it] doesn’t reflect the values of the AFL-CIO and it has been taken down.”

The picture of a guillotine came after social media circulated the anti-union flyer made by Delta, which featured a gaming controller and suggested the union fees might be better spent on gaming.

“Union dues cost around $700 a year. A new video game system with the latest hits sounds like fun. Put your money toward that instead of paying dues to the union,” Delta’s flyer read.

Some have jumped to criticize Delta’s campaign against unionization, with U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, calling it “condescending bulls—“ and noted that a gaming console won’t provide “fair wages” or “health care benefits.”

U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., spoke out against the Democrats’ claim that America is facing a “constitutional crisis,” saying Thursday that the Dems are worried that Attorney General William Barr is “turning the tables” on the Obama administration’s legacy.

“The very reason Jerry Nadler is going after Bill Barr has nothing to do with the 8 percent of the Mueller report that hasn’t been seen, and it has everything to do with the fact that Bill Barr is now turning the tables on the people in the Obama White House, the people in the deep state, the intelligence community who politicized a FISA court, and the investigators, I think, who departed from normalized practice,” Gaetz said on Fox News’ “The Story with Martha MacCallum.”

“The very reason Jerry Nadler is going after Bill Barr … has everything to do with the fact that Bill Barr is now turning the tables on the people in the Obama White House, the people in the deep state, the intelligence community.”

WATTERS: DEMS, MEDIA IN ‘FULL MELTDOWN MODE’ OVER BARR BEING HELD IN CONTEMPT OF CONGRESS

Nadler, a New York Democrat who chairs the House Judiciary Committee, declared a “constitutional crisis” this week following his committee’s vote to hold the Barr in contempt of Congress for defying a subpoena for Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s unredacted Russia report and underlying documents.

Gaetz also took aim at former FBI Director James Comey, who appeared on a CNN town hall telecast Thursday night, predicting that Barr would be coming for Comey as well.

“Of course it is not a coincidence that James Comey is on, like, the Redemption Tour 2.0 right now, trying to articulate his message,” Gaetz said, “because he knows that Barr is coming after Comey and his band of merry men, who largely paved the way for Hillary Clinton to not face consequence, and then turned around and really did the Russians’ bidding for them by delegitimizing the election process, and then after the election [of] the president, trying to delegitimize Donald Trump.”

Gaetz also touted the U.S. economy’s performance under President Trump before criticizing Democrats for their use of the word “crisis” — and chastising them for not addressing the immigration emergency along the U.S.-Mexico border.

“I don’t know that Democrats know what the word ‘crisis’ means,” Gaetz said. “Obviously they can’t claim we have an economic crisis. We’ve got growth at twice the rate that was expected under the Obama economy and everyone is doing a lot better.

“But we have a real crisis on the border where 3,000 people a day are turning themselves in, into a system that we cannot accommodate additional influx for. And now we have a tortured interpretation of a constitutional crisis. I can assure you that is not the case. The game you’re watching is not the game that is being played.”

James Comey blasts Rod Rosenstein, mocks departing deputy AG for thinking ‘the country needs me’

Former FBI Director James Comey described deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein as not having “strong character” Thursday while appearing on a CNN town hall telecast.

“I think people like that, like Rod Rosenstein, who are people of accomplishment but not real sterling character, strong character, find themselves trapped. And then they start telling themselves a story to justify their being trapped which is, ‘Yeah, he’s awful but the country needs me,’” Comey told host Anderson Cooper.

COMEY DEFENDS OBAMA ON RUSSIAN INTERFERENCE

Cooper brought up Rosenstein as Comey was responding to a question about a recent op-ed he penned, in which he wrote that the president “eats your soul in small bites.”

“Republicans are doing this in Congress. ‘Yeah, it’s awful, but if I speak I’ll get defeated and this nation needs me here right now.’ So they start to make little compromises to stay on the team. Talk about collusion, saying that’s what I need to do to survive and in the process, he has eaten their soul, they’re lost. So that’s what happens to so many of people,” Comey said.

Rosenstein was honored with a Department of Justice send-off on Thursday, after submitting his resignation to President Trump last month. His departure will reportedly take effect Saturday.

Thursday was also the second anniversary of Trump firing Comey from the FBI.

Attorney General Bill Barr, former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and FBI Director Christopher Wray were on hand at the Rosenstein farewell, touting his record and character throughout his career, but specifically over the last two years.

Rosenstein fell into the political crosshairs throughout his tenure and was on the receiving end of the president’s ire over the Russia investigation. Rosenstein had taken over oversight of the investigation after Sessions recused himself from the probe — a decision that infuriated Trump.

It was early on in Rosenstein’s oversight of the probe, in May 2017, that Trump fired Comey. Just a week later, Rosenstein appointed Special Counsel Robert Mueller — Comey’s former boss at the FBI. Rosenstein watched over the probe until November 2018, when former acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker took over. Whitaker was ultimately replaced by Barr.

On CNN’s Thursday telecast, Comey also told Cooper that he tried to avoid becoming like Rosenstein and other “co-opted” members of the administration by openly disagreeing with President Trump in the Oval Office.

According to Comey, Trump was equating the U.S. to “killers” like Russian President Vladamir Putin.

“And among the words were his saying we are the same kind of killers that Vladimir Putin is. He was defending his moral equivalency between us and Putin and I interrupted and said, ‘Mr. President, no, we’re not the kind of killers that Putin is,'” Comey said.

Late night host Jimmy Kimmel mocked Democratic lawmakers on Thursday night for their ongoing efforts to obtain President Trump‘s tax returns.

Kimmel began by telling his audience about a bill that the New York state Senate passed Wednesday that would assist Congress in retrieving the president’s tax records.

“The New York state Senate yesterday passed a bill that would allow Congress to finally see Donald Trump’s tax returns, which would mean… nothing. It will make no difference whatsoever,” Kimmel said. “It’s not that we don’t know he’s a fraud — everyone knows that. The problem is half of America doesn’t care.”

The ABC star went on to compare the effort behind getting Trump’s tax returns to World Wrestling Entertainment.

“Democrats don’t realize, it’s basically the WWE. It’s wrestling,” Kimmel continued. “They’re busy trying to prove that the Undertaker isn’t an actual undertaker. Like, ‘Hey, this guy has no license to practice funeral directing in any state.’ And the Republicans are like, ‘Uhuh, yeah, we know. Do you mind stepping aside so we can watch him hit someone with a folding chair? Thank you.'”

Kimmel also mocked the White House for its numerous errors leading up to Thursday’s visit by the Boston Red Sox, first misspelling the team’s nickname as “Socks,” and later referring to the World Series champs as the “World Cup Series” champs.

Fox News’ Sean Hannity and Gregg Jarrett had strong words for former FBI Director James Comey following his CNN town hall appearance Thursday — which was held on the second anniversary of Comey being fired by President Trump.

“Hey, Jimbo, you signed a FISA application to spy on Carter Page and the entire Trump campaign. By the way, I have warned you before. You know what, Jim, you have the right to remain silent. I would start using that right,” Hannity said on his nightly program, “Hannity.”

COMEY DEFENDS OBAMA’S REACTION TO RUSSIAN INTERFERENCE

The host was reacting to Comey’s claim that he did everything “by the book” when it came to the Russia investigation.

“Are you confident you did everything by the book and that the FBI, the people around you did everything by the book?” CNN host Anderson Cooper asked Comey.

“Yes, no doubt in my mind. That does not mean that I am against review of it. That is totally fine,” Comey responded.

Hannity’s guest, Fox News legal analyst and commentator Gregg Jarrett, also delivered some pointed remarks.

“You play the clip that he said he went by the book. That is also a lie to the American public. James Comey is now swinging these wild haymakers because he knows that very soon he is going down on the canvas for a ten-count,” Jarrett said.

“He is in a deep, serious legal jeopardy,” Jarrett continued. “For lying to a FISA court, leaking government documents that he stole, starting an investigation without credible evidence, spying on the Trump campaign and making false statements to Congress.

“I hope that he saved all of the money that he made from that phony book of his. … Because he will need the money for his defense team. “
