Following the arrest of the commander an armed vigilante group rounding up illegal immigrants in New Mexico, National Border Patrol Council Vice President Hector Garza said his group appreciates the support of the American people, but border security is best left up to professionals.

Larry Mitchell Hopkins, the leader of the group United Constitutional Patriots, was arrested Saturday on charges of firearms possession by a felon after his group was accused of detaining nearly 200 migrants at gunpoint along the U.S./Mexico border until Border Patrol agents arrived.

Garza told “America’s Newsroom” on Monday he has worked with other volunteer groups before, who are typically very helpful, but not the United Constitutional Patriots.

“As border patrol agents, we appreciate the support that the American public gives border patrol agents as we try to change border security,” Garza said. “What we do ask is that border security work is left up to border security experts, border patrol agents, and any organization that’s operating along the border that they follow the law as they try to help achieve border security.”

‘SHEDDING OF BLOOD’ MAY BE REQUIRED TO SAVE US, AUTHOR OF AN ARIZONA IMMIGRATION LAW SAYS

After news broke of Hopkins’ arrest, the New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas released a statement calling the self-declared vigilante as a: “dangerous felon who should not have weapons around children and families.”

Garza went on to discuss his work with border volunteers in Texas, who he says have actually saved the lives of many people who were left behind by smugglers. In the case of the United Constitutional Patriots, however, it’s critical that those hoping to help with border security aren’t breaking the law, he said.

“We do ask that they follow the law… and make sure that they are able to possess weapons, that they are able to do the right thing, that they’re not invading private property and that they operate within the boundaries of the law,” he continued.

Armed vigilante groups have been active along the border for many years, and see themselves as a necessary force to aide border patrol agents. Garza called the situation at the border “very, very desperate” adding that they do need more help and resources.

“People are abusing our immigration laws and we need to stop that,” Garza said. Ultimately, he continued, the goal is to keep everyone in America safe.

“it’s all about safety – the safety of our American people, the safety of our border agents, and we want to achieve border security – plain and simple,” he said.

Former Obama adviser on Seth Moulton’s jump into 2020 race: ‘He’s someone that checks a lot of boxes’

Robert Wolf, former economic adviser to President Obama, Monday said of Rep. Seth Moulton’s 2020 presidential bid, “He’s someone that checks a lot of boxes.”

Wolf, a Fox News contributor, made the statement on “Fox & Friends” only hours after the congressman announced he was running.

When Wolf was asked if he thinks Moulton can beat Trump, he answered, “I think it’s too early to tell,” adding that he has known Moulton for years given they are from the same Massachusetts hometown.

“There’s something he brings to the table that a lot of people aren’t talking about,” said Wolf about the three-term congressman from Massachusetts, who also is an Iraq war veteran.

SETH MOULTON, MASSACHUSETTS REP AND IRAQ WAR VET, JUMPS INTO 2020 PRESIDENTIAL RACE

“He’s really strong on national security. He’s on the armed services. And he’s strong on defense. And I also think he has progressive values so, you know, he’s someone that checks a lot of boxes,” said Wolf.

Moulton’s announcement makes him the 19th Democrat fighting for the Oval Office. He becomes the third candidate from Massachusetts to launch a presidential campaign, joining Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren and former Republican Gov. Bill Weld, whose primary goal is challenging Trump.

“You need name recognition and you need to raise money and those are the two things he’s going to have to show quickly,” said Wolf about Moulton.

“I also think for him it’s going to be a lot about New Hampshire. He’s 45 minutes from New Hampshire, he has to show he can really do well there.”

He added, “At this point in 2008, right now, is Giuliani beating Secretary Clinton. And at this point in 2016, President Trump was about 5 percent. So one thing we don’t know, is we don’t know.”

BIDEN POISED TO ANNOUNCE 2020 BID

Meanwhile, Joe Biden is expected to declare his candidacy for president this week, two sources with knowledge of the former vice president’s plans confirmed to Fox News.

Wolf said he’s “a big fan” of Biden.

“One of the reasons I think he’s really gained in the polls recently is with the rise of Senator Sanders and the rise of Donald Trump’s popularity within his own party, that combination really, couple of things, one, it takes the whole age factor out of the equation. And number two, it goes back to the number one poll for Democrats, who is the candidate that is best to beat Donald Trump? And a lot of the polls have Joe Biden,” said Wolf.

“And so his polling, he’s the only one north of 30 percent. Him and Bernie (Sanders) are the only ones today north of 20 percent. But once again, this is a lot of name recognition. We really won’t know until things fall out, until he announces, whether he gains in popularity and the excitement the polls are saying.”

President Trump never said he wanted to “get rid” of Special Counsel Robert Mueller and instead cooperated fully with his investigation, according to one of the president’s former attorneys.

John Dowd, who served as a member of President Trump’s legal team from June 2017 until March 2018, discussed Trump’s approach to Mueller during an interview on “Fox & Friends” Monday.

Frequent media accounts prior to the release of the report suggested Trump tried to fire Mueller at times during the Russia investigation. The report itself said Trump told then-White House Counsel Don McGahn in June 2017 to tell the acting attorney general that Mueller “must be removed.” McGahn refused.

But asked on Monday when Trump said to fire Mueller, Dowd said: “He never did. I was there at the same time that the report says McGahn mentioned this, and I was assigned to deal with Mueller and briefed the president every day.

“At no time did the president ever say, ‘you know, John, I’m going to get rid of him.’ It was the opposite.

“Here’s the message the president had for Bob Mueller, he told me to carry — number one, you tell him I respect what he is doing; number two, you tell him he has my full cooperation; number three, get it done as quickly as possible; and number four, whatever else you need, let me know.

“That was always the message and that is exactly what we did.”

Dowd continued, saying he spoke to Mueller about the president’s frequent public criticism of the investigation.

GIULIANI SLAMS ‘CONFLICTS OF INTEREST’ IN SPECIAL COUNSEL’S OFFICE: ‘WHEN DID MUELLER BECOME GOD?’

“I talked to Bob about that. I said, ‘do you understand what’s going on?’ and he said, ‘oh, it’s political, he has to do that for political reasons’.

“I said, ‘I tell you what, the president and I will make sure, we’ll say publicly cooperate with Bob Mueller’ and we did early on. So that was it.”

Host Steve Doocy then asked Dowd about “the suggestion from the report that Don McGahn, the president’s attorney, was told go out and fire him” Mueller.

“I just I think there was a misunderstanding,” Dowd said.

“I just don’t believe it. I think the president simply wanted McGahn to call Rosenstein, have him vetted, because the president believed Mueller did have some conflicts.”

Kellyanne Conway: Trump can’t be impeached by an investigation Democrats started

As thousands gathered on the White House lawn for the annual Easter egg roll on Monday morning, Kellyanne Conway criticized House Democrats latest impeachment push, calling it “a ridiculous proposition.”

News broke on Sunday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., plans to hold a private conference call with fellow Democrats to discuss the possibility of impeaching President Trump.

The issue was raised again after a redacted version of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report was released last week, which Dems argue provides evidence to the contrary of Attorney General William Barr’s summary that the investigation found no evidence that President Trump obstructed justice.

However, Conway pushed back.

“You can’t impeach a Republican president for something the Democrats started, which is this ridiculous investigation that has cost us $25 million, over 2500 subpoenas,” Conway told “Fox & Friends” host Ainsley Earhardt on Monday morning.

“The special counsel provides a report to the attorney general who, in concert with the deputy attorney general and office of legal counsel, decided there was no obstructive conduct. They could not bring obstruction charges – they made that decision,” she continued.

“I’m sure if director Mueller and his team could have brought those very clear charges they would have.”

She added that many in the media are now trying to “save face” after fiercely believing and predicting Mueller’s investigation would uncover collusion between Trump and Russia, which would have supplemented their arguments in 2016 that Trump “lied and stole the election.”

As the 2020 election approaches, Conway also commented on the wide array of Democrats entering the race and reminded viewers that candidates need to run on real issues.

“Simple math,” she said. “One, 19, 50, anything times zero, simple multiplication … 19 are running, but if your message is zero it’s a big zero.”

Islamic terrorism is a threat spreading to different parts of the world, Fox News contributor Mike Huckabee said Monday in wake of the Sri Lanka Easter Sunday massacre.

Huckabee, the former Arkansas Governor, told “Fox & Friends” said Sunday’s attack should remind everyone of the challenges faced across the globe in fighting the scourge of terrorism.

SURVIVOR OF SRI LANKA BOMBING FEARS RETURNING TO CHURCH

“It’s global. It’s not just targeted to a handful of countries like the United States…not just targeted to Middle Eastern countries…it’s a global war on terrorism,” Huckabee said.

“These are cowardly people who go after innocents. These aren’t folks who take on a military. These are people who blow up innocent people, in this case, people who are going to church, people who are celebrating the holiest day for Christians around the world, and nothing could be more cowardly, nothing could be more disgusting, and it shows you the character of those who were involved in this kind of terror.”

His comments came after it was reported authorities in Sri Lanka received warnings a domestic radical Muslim group would attack the nation on the Christian holy day.

Despite multiple warnings from international intelligence agencies, however, Sri Lanka’s security officials reportedly failed to heed the alerts and apparently took no action to protect against a potential attack. Authorities were first alerted to the threat April 4.

More than two weeks later, near-simultaneous blasts detonated at three churches and three luxury hotels in and around Colombo, the capital city. Two more explosions occurred hours later outside of Colombo – one at a guesthouse and the other near an overpass.

At least 290 people – including 39 foreigners – were killed and more than 500 people were injured. The government on Monday said the attacks were likely perpetrated by local militant group National Thowfeek Jaamath, a little-known radical Islamist organization.

CNN’S APRIL RYAN CALLS FOR SARAH SANDERS TO BE FIRED

Experts told the New York Times the group promotes an Islamic terrorist ideology.

“These attacks appear to be quite different and look as if they came right out of the ISIS, Al Qaeda, global militant jihadist playbook, as these are attacks fomenting religious hatred by attacking multiple churches on a high religious holiday,” Anne Speckhard, the director of the International Center for the Study of Violent Extremism, told the newspaper.

Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne said international agencies warned of possible attacks several times beginning in early April. He said the defense ministry wrote to the police chief on April 9 to give law enforcement a heads up about the intelligence, including providing the group’s name.

Two days later, on April 11, police wrote to the heads of security of the judiciary and diplomatic security division about the warnings. It was not immediately clear what action, if any, was taken in response.

Top government officials, including Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and his Cabinet, were reportedly kept in the dark about the intelligence until after the attack – which Senaratne blamed on political dysfunction within the government.

“We must look into why adequate precautions were not taken,” Wickremesinghe said Sunday.

An investigation has been launched into the apparent breakdown of communication within the government.

Terrorist attacks on Christians ‘happening more and more’: ex-FBI special agent

Speaking in the wake of the Easter Sunday massacre in Sri Lanka, a counterterrorism expert told Fox News radical Islamic terrorism is spreading beyond the Middle East and is “happening more and more.”

Bobby Chacon, a counterterrorism expert, told “Fox & Friends” Monday that violence on Christians on one of the holiest days of the calendar is nothing new, but claimed the deadly ideology behind the attacks is spreading.

SRI LANKA ON EDGE AFTER LOCAL ISLAMIC MILITANT GROUP BLAMED FOR EASTER SUNDAY ATTACKS: REPORT

“It’s another sign that the Middle East is not the sole source of these attacks and that we’ll see more of these attacks in places where we’ve seen relative stability,” Chacon said. “These countries need to get a grip on it.”

His comments come after an attack, reportedly from the local militant group named National Thowheek Jaamath, killed nearly 300 and injured hundreds more to a church and several hotels in the Indian subcontinent. Police arrested 13 suspects in connection with the bombings.

He added: “I would not be surprised if the investigation determines that there was significant assistance coming from groups outside that country to support an operation like this. It was a very coordinated, very planned – this small, local group in Sri Lanka, while it could have carried out an attack like this – I doubt that they did so without material support from outside.”

The retired FBI special agent went on to claim there are a lot of attacks on Christians that are underreported.

The Sri Lanka bombings came just days after ISIS claimed its first attacks in the Democratic Republic of Congo that killed three Congolese soldiers and wounded five others. Officials reportedly found terrorist manuals on the bodies of the fighters.

“In areas where there is already civil wars or certain civil dissent going on,” Chacon concluded, “it’s a hotbed for them to take advantage of the dissent that’s already happening to spread their ideology.”

Former college football coach Tommy Tuberville why he thinks he’s the perfect candidate to tackle Sen. Doug Jones, D-Ala., for his U.S. Senate seat.

Tuberville, 64, told “Fox & Friends” hosts Steve Doocy and Jedediah Bila he is going from the gridiron to the campaign trail because he wants to give back to the community and the state of Alabama.

“I learned leadership, communication skills, bringing people together and that’s what you do in a job like this. You use all those skills and try to make everybody better. I want to build a winning strategy for Alabama and for this country,” he said.

Tuberville will be trying to recapture the seat for the Republican Party which was left vacant by Jeff Sessions when he joined the Trump administration as attorney general. Jones won the seat in a 2017 special election over ex-state Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore.

The former coach also has made his support for President Trump clear. He supported Trump during the election.

“I believe in him. He has a great work ethic. The guy’s a winner. The things that he’s done we need people to stand behind him in the Senate in Congress to help get his agenda through. I want to help this state in Alabama,” Tuberville said.

Tuberville will have to defeat Bradly Byrne, a congressman, to represent the GOP on the ticket. The primary is set for March 3, 2020.

Tuberville has spent 21 seasons as a college football head coach. He’s won 159 with Mississippi, Auburn, Texas Tech and Cincinnati. He won the SEC Coach of the Year twice – once in 1997 and the other in 2004.

As President Trump and the first lady prepare to welcome thousands of children and their families to annual Easter Egg Roll at the White House, Melania Trump’s spokesperson opened up about some of what people can expect this year.

Stephanie Grisham told “Fox & Friends” on Monday morning the first lady planned every detail of Monday’s spring event – from the color of the eggs to the activities offered.

“New activities that we are really excited for that go in line with her ‘Be Best’ campaign,” Grisham said. “‘Be Best’ hopscotch for the kids. ‘Be Best’ musical eggs that will be really fun… It’s going to be a great day.”

Grisham said the president and first lady will be part of the traditional egg roll as well as be part of an activity coloring cards with children that will be sent to troops overseas.

“There’s a ton of stuff to do. It’s going to be a great day,” she said.

When asked how the end of the Russia investigation felt as they were planning the final details of Monday’s Easter Egg Roll, Grisham said a weight was lifted off the administration.

Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, called on Saturday for Congress to look into the origins of the Russia investigation, which he said started on a “false premise.”

Jordan, who serves as ranking member on the House Oversight Committee, told Fox News’ Neil Cavuto that Americans sensed Washington had a double standard that allowed elected officials to avoid punishment for wrongdoing.

“They do want people who launched this investigation, on a false premise, they do want them held accountable,” he said on “Cavuto Live.”

ANDREW MCCARTHY: MUELLER REPORT VINDICATES AG BILL BARR

He pointed to the infamous Steele dossier which informed the FBI’s suspicions surrounding President Donald Trump and the Russian government.

“You can’t have the FBI using one party’s opposition research document to launch an investigation and spy on the other party’s campaign,” he said.

“We know that took place and we do need to get to the bottom of that because it’s never supposed to happen in this country.” Jordan was referring to former President Barack Obama’s administration surveilling then-candidate Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign out of its concern over potential ties to Russia.

Special counsel Robert Mueller’s report, released on Thursday, stopped short of formally accusing the Trump campaign of colluding with the Russian government. Justice Department leadership also said there wasn’t enough evidence to accuse Trump and his associates of either collusion or obstruction of justice.

But Democrats like Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., who serves on the House’s investigatory committees, thought the report contained enough troubling information to continue probing the president’s conduct. Swalwell, while appearing on Fox News on Friday, said the Obama administration didn’t owe the Trump campaign an apology because Mueller’s report showed suspcioius behavior and “laid out a multiplicity of contacts between the Trump campaign and Russians.”

Democratic leadership has signaled the Russia controversy was far from over as Trump declared victory and some speculated the issue could hurt Democrats’ chances in the 2020 election. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., has already subpoenaed the unredacted version of Mueller’s report and some in his party, like Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., pushed impeachment.

While Democrats go on offense, Republicans like Jordan could leverage that focus to attack Democrats for their involvement with the dossier. Jordan, however, indicated that his party wanted to focus on issues like immigration which a Fox News poll showed as the top concern among registered voters. The Mueller investigation didn’t rank among the top five issues in that poll.

On the 20th anniversary of the Columbine High School massacre, one of the survivors, Austin Eubanks, described to Fox News how he handled the tragedy which left him wounded and his best friend dead.

“I completely disassociated,” Eubanks told Fox News host Neil Cavuto on Saturday. “I’ve always been able to recall everything that happened that day but it was almost as if I was watching it on television. I wasn’t present in my own body.”

When the shooting happened, Eubanks said, he was on his way to lunch and talking with friends. “That was when the shooting started. Moments later, a teacher ran through those doors yelling for everybody to get under the tables.”

Eubanks was shot twice and afterwards, took medication that led to addiction during his twenties.

COLUMBINE SHOOTING 20TH ANNIVERSARY: SURVIVORS REFLECT ON HOW MASSACRE CHANGED THEIR LIVES

“I was prescribed medications for my physical injuries and immediately, I became drawn to those medications because of how they improved the underlying symptoms of emotional pain,” he said during his appearance on “Cavuto Live.”

He went on to help others resolve emotional pain they felt from undergoing traumas like his. As Cavuto noted, Columbine was just the beginning of a series of mass shootings that would affect American schools over the next two decades.

“I tell people who are struggling, the most crucial piece of recovery is staying connected to other human beings for support because we are so prone to detachment and there is countless adversity that comes with that,” he added.

Eubanks’ comments came just after an 18-year-old woman, who was “infatuated” with the shooting, threatened violence in the Denver area. By Wednesday, the woman, Sol Pais, had committed suicide and the FBI reported that there was “no longer a threat to the community.”

When Cavuto asked Eubanks about Pais, Eubanks described Columbine as an event that captured public attention like the Oklahoma City bombing and 9/11. “Everybody has an emotional attachment to Columbine and I think unfortunately, for those who are mentally deranged or unstable, it’s created this fascination.”
