Radio host Rush Limbaugh ripped Sen. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii Wednesday over her treatment of Attorney General William Barr during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on the Mueller report, calling her “ignorant” and “a liar.”’

Limbaugh said Hirono mischaracterized Barr’s work and — like Sen. Lindsey Graham– accused the senator of “slandering” his integrity. “He didn’t change anything in the Mueller report,” Limbaugh said on his radio show.

BARR: MUELLER REPORT IS DONE. WE NEED TO STOP USING DOJ AS ‘POLITICAL WEAPON’

Barr’s testimony Wednesday was wide-ranging. It covered his decision not to pursue an obstruction case against President Trump and the delay in the release of the redacted version of the report.

Hirono accused Barr of lying to Congress and said he should resign.

“Mr. Barr, now the American people know that you are no different from Rudy Giuliani or Kellyanne Conway or any of other people who sacrifice their once-decent reputation for the grifter and liar who sits in the Oval Office,” Hirono said to Barr during a long build-up to a question.

Committee chairman, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., cut Hirono off. “You slandered this man from top to bottom,” Graham said to the Hawaii senator.

Limbaugh argued that Hirono never intended to ask any meaningful questions to Barr but really intended to hurt his “integrity.”

“It was the kill session. Her mission during these hearings has been to kill Barr professionally, and his integrity,” Limbaugh said.

The radio host blamed Hirono’s “poisonous hatred” for President Trump for her treatment of Barr.

“I think it is her essential consuming, poisonous hatred for Donald Trump, and Barr is the way she can get to Trump today, so Barr becomes her target,” Limbaugh said.

Bret Easton Ellis, noted American author, appeared on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Wednesday and talked about the continued reaction of “hysterical liberals” to President Trump.

The author of “Less Than Zero,” “American Psycho” and “The Rules of Attraction” said that today’s political climate has created an environment in which anyone who doesn’t “adamantly condemn” Trump with “a hysterical overreaction” is deemed colluding with the president.

BERKELEY FOLLOWS PLASTIC STRAW BAN BY CHARGING DINERS AN EXTRA QUARTER FOR DISPOSABLE CUPS

“I’m a freethinker in many ways,” Ellis told host Tucker Carlson, “and I did see something wrong with the portrayal of Trump in the media. I thought the media was covering him in a way that wasn’t necessarily truthful.”

He told Carlson that although he didn’t vote for Trump, his observation about the media got him marked as a “psycho rightwing guy.”

“I suddenly got branded a conservative,” he said, noting he is a fictional author and believes his ideology is middle of the road and nonpartisan.

He reckoned that the liberal xenophobia stems from a cognitive dissonance: coastal elites who are entitled and who felt betrayed by Trump’s win.

His latest book, “White,” is his first work of nonfiction that is about what he calls, “Generation Wuss,” otherwise known as the young who are branded as overly sensitive snowflakes.

He hopes that a pushback happens for the left’s “authoritarian language belief” of what can and can’t be said in the realms of art and creativity.

Neither side likes the hyper-tyrannical political correctness, but the end of policing thought and speech isn’t yet in sight, Ellis says.

He noted: “I’ve never tried to offend anyone, and I’m always amazed how I’ve managed to trigger generation after generation after generation.”

Rep. Gabbard on Venezuela: Trump WH ‘saber-rattling,’ US should broker diplomatic solution with Russia

2020 presidential candidate Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, bashed the Trump administration Wednesday in a Fox News interview, accusing the White House of “saber-rattling” and saying the U.S. should work with Russia to avoid a potential nuclear conflict over Venezuela.

“Any time we are in this situation where you have tensions being ratcheted up and this conflict being pushed closer and closer between nuclear-armed countries like the United States and countries like Russia and China, this is something that poses an existential threat to the American people,” Gabbard said on “The Story with Martha MacCallum.”

“And, when you hear this kind of saber-rattling coming from the Trump administration from people like [National Security Adviser] John Bolton and [Secretary of State] Mike Pompeo, pushing this civil war and for the United States to get involved, we are dealing with dangerous consequences.”

FORMER VENEZUELA U.N. DELEGATE: ‘THIS IS A POINT OF NO RETURN’

Violence erupted in Venezuela between protesters and military forces again Wednesday as both the country’s disputed president, Nicolas Maduro, and opposition leader, Juan Guaido, vied for power.

Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of Caracas as part of a rebellion that has represented the most serious challenge to Maduro’s rule.

I have seen firsthand the high cost of war and pushing for this civil war, pushing for the use of military force, will only end up with more suffering and death and disaster for the Venezuelan people.

— Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii

Gabbard argued that interfering in regime change would not have a “positive impact” on the people of Venezuela.

“The United States is not helping the situation by interfering and basically pushing for externally yet another regime change war that history shows us has not turned out to have a positive impact on people in the countries where we wage these wars. That’s why I’m pushing for diplomacy,” Gabbard told Martha MacCallum.

The Hawaii congresswoman also cited America’s history with overthrowing governments and dictators saying that brokering a diplomatic solution with Russia would have a better outcome.

Pompeo on Tuesday told Fox News that Maduro was ready to leave Venezuela as unrest grew — until Russia convinced him to stay.

“I’m saying that when we look throughout history, every time the United States goes into another country, and topples a dictator or topples a government the outcome has been disastrous for the people in these countries,” Gabbard said.

“That’s why we should use our leadership in the world to try to broker a diplomatic solution working with countries like Russia that have great influence over Venezuela so that there is a peaceful outcome — because I can tell you as a soldier, Martha, I have seen firsthand the high cost of war and pushing for this civil war, pushing for the use of military force, will only end up with more suffering and death and disaster for the Venezuelan people.”

Fox News’ Nicole Darrah and Martha MacCallum contributed to this report.

Fox News’ Juan Williams and Jesse Watters clashed over guns Wednesday on “The Five” while responding to an MSNBC reporter accidentally making the case for the Second Amendment in coverage of the political crisis in Venezuela.

“You have to understand, in Venezuela gun ownership is not something that’s open to everybody. So if the military have the guns, they have the power and as long as Nicolás Maduro controls the military, he controls the country,” MSNBC reporter Kerry Sanders said Tuesday.

FORMER VENEZUELA U.N. DELEGATE: ‘THIS IS A POINT OF NO RETURN’

Watters reacted by criticizing the media for not focusing on “reality.”

“The media never looks to reality for examples. They can see everything happening all over the world, but when you say, ‘OK, what about its impact here in the United States?’ they never take that to heart,” Watters said.

The ‘Watters’ World’ host then began listing government abuse and mentioned Democratic presidential candidate Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., and former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams for advocating gun confiscation, while defending the Second Amendment as an important difference between America and Venezuela.

Williams did not agree.

“Do you think if those people had guns there would be anything but more chaos, more violence and more death?” Williams asked. “Let me ask you, New York City, you think if you have a gun you could stand up to the New York City Police Department, much less the state National Guard or the U.S. military?

“I think if the American people are armed to the teeth,” Watters responded.

“Get them more guns!” Wiliams said in disbelief.

Co-host Jedediah Bilah jumped in and argued that the Venezuelan people were “powerless” without the ability to defend themselves, a notion Williams disputed and called a “fantasy.”

“This is a fantasy. First of all, it’s an apples and oranges comparison between the U.S. and another country,” Williams said.

“There is no reality to the idea that if some people had handguns, automatic weapons, they could stand up to the military. No. That’s an invitation to more death and chaos. It’s a reach by people trying to make the argument for guns for everyone in the U.S.”

Retired military leaders to lawmakers: Don’t ‘sacrifice funds’ for F-35 jets

More than 100 retired military leaders sent a letter to members of Congress on Tuesday urging them not to “sacrifice funds from the F-35 program,” adding that the F-35, the military’s newest fighter jet, is “essential to countering emerging threats.”

The letter included 128 signatures from retired admirals and generals, including four former Air Force chiefs of staff and a former chief of naval operations.

It was sent on the same day that the Air Force announced it had used its variant of the F-35 aircraft in combat for the first time, taking out an Islamic State (ISIS) tunnel network and weapons cache in Iraq.

INSIDE THE F-35 FACTORY, WHERE STEALTH BEGINS

Defense News reported that according to Air Forces Central Command, Tuesday’s airstrike occurred at Wadi Ashai, in northeast Iraq. A news release from U.S. Central Command six days before said ISIS fighters “have been attempting to move munitions, equipment and personnel” to the area in order to “set conditions for their resurgence,” prompting a counteroffensive by Iraqi Security Forces.

The website reported that more information about the event, including whether the strikes were successful, was not immediately available.

The letter, sent to members of the House and Senate, said, “As former U.S. Flag Officers who have served in times of sequestration and military conflicts, we know the impact cutting costs from vital programs has on defense readiness.

“With China and Russia aggressively ramping up efforts to improve and modernize weapons, maintaining air superiority is essential to countering emerging threats both at home and abroad.”

The letter said the U.S. must “advance both capacity and capability of our fighter force with continued procurement of the world’s most advanced fighter, the F-35 Lightning II,” in order to maintain “a competitive edge in the skies.”

According to Defense News, the F-35 program has been threatened by cost and schedule overruns since its start about two decades ago, and the Government Accountability Office estimates that the program will cost more than $1 trillion.

ISRAEL SAYS IT’S THE FIRST COUNTRY TO USE F-35 STEALTH FIGHTER JETS IN ‘OPERATIONAL ATTACK’

The retired admirals and generals sent the letter to the chairman and ranking members of the House and Senate Armed Services Committees as well as the House and Senate Appropriations Subcommittees on Defense, to stress the importance of these fighter jets.

“As the only 5th-generation aircraft in production, the F-35 ensures air advantage over emerging peer adversaries through cutting-edge technologies,” the letter said.

“It is with the nation’s security interest in mind that we join the nearly 130 U.S. House and Senate Congressional members to request that the Congress increase the procurement rate of the F-35 within the Fiscal Year 2020 defense authorization and appropriations.”

The letter went on to say, “It is essential that our Congress does not sacrifice funds from the F-35 program in favor of new 4th generation, legacy fighter programs with little operational relevance in a near peer conflict.”

Newt Gingrich, onetime House speaker said President Trump could easily win re-election in 2020 if Democrats continue to back far-left candidates who isolate themselves on issues from the majority of voters.

Speaking with Fox News’ Todd Starnes on Wednesday, Gingrich recalled the 1972 election, in which the Democratic nominee, Sen. George McGovern of South Dakota, suffered an overwhelming loss to President Richard Nixon, who captured 60 percent of the popular vote.

“I think the way this election is going to shape up, I believe, you could see a 1972-style landslide because you know, if you remember, McGovern and then [Walter] Mondale in ‘84, both isolated themselves and the American people,” Gingrich said. “Well, if you look day after day at what the Democrats are talking about, they’re at 15 percent issues. I mean there are issues where only 15 percent of the country agrees with them and they keep doing that.”

Nixon’s presidency, similar to Trump’s, saw a booming economy, while McGovern was quickly labeled the anti-establishment candidate with views too extreme for the majority of Americans.

Said Gingrich: “Trump is a tough guy. All right. And some of his characteristics aren’t exactly what you’d hoped for at the country club, but he gets a lot done. He’s a serious man. The economy’s better than anybody thought it could be.  And on the other hand, you have a party — the Democrats — who are losing their minds and doing more and more weird things.”

Gingrich’s predictions would mean that one of the leading Democratic candidates for president, Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., wouldn’t stand a chance against Trump as the incumbent.

The former speaker of the House said that one candidate who could help Dems get away from a “McGovern” candidate is Pete Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Ind.

“I think Buttigieg, in some ways, is the most interesting candidate because he literally can be almost anything. So he’s kind of the chameleon candidate.”

Managing Director at The Ackman-Ziff Real Estate Group Jason Meister said Wednesday big city developers struggle to sell real estate, especially in New York, because “blue states need to shape up. They’re fiscally irresponsible.”

Meister, who is also a member of the 2020 Trump advisory board, made the statement on “Fox & Friends” Wednesday, adding, “Investors are not going to be here (New York City). It’s just not going to happen.”

According to Miller Samuel Inc., a real estate appraisal and consulting firm, more than 40 percent of apartments on New York City’s “Billionaires’ Row,”  the area around West 57th Street and Central Park South, are sitting unsold.

The data was released a day after a Manhattan judge on Monday gave city officials the green light to open a controversial homeless shelter in The Park Savoy building, at 158 W. 58th St., which is in the ritzy neighborhood.

JUDGE SIGNS OFF ON HOMELESS SHELTER ON ‘BILLIONAIRES’ ROW’ IN NEW YORK CITY

The building stands back-to-back against the iconic One57 apartment building, the city’s first “supertall” residential skyscraper and home to a $100 million condo that was the city’s most expensive when Dell founder Michael Dell bought it in 2014.

Last year, neighbors were blindsided when New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio quietly sent letters to local officials that revealed his plan to turn it into a shelter for 150 homeless men, sparking the suit against the city.

“The best antidote to homelessness are jobs and unfortunately, the economic and policy environment right now in New York City run by incompetent leadership like Mayor de Blasio and Governor Cuomo, they’re basically forcing high-net-worth individuals out that create the jobs,” said Meister.

“They’re also chasing out companies like Amazon, right? That could have created tens of thousands of jobs to minorities, to everyone.”

Amazon announced in February it was turning back on its plans to build its second headquarters in New York City. The move came after backlash from lawmakers, notably Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who bemoaned the project.

The deal was greeted with much fanfare when it was announced last year and was lauded as a major economic boost.

Amazon’s HQ2 plan to build in Long Island City in Queens included a pledge from the tech giant to create 25,000 jobs, paying an average of $150,000 per year in exchange for a slew of city and state tax breaks and subsidies worth up to $3 billion.

Meister said New York City offers an environment that “makes for an unsafe investment.”

He added, “New York always was a safe investment and what’s happening is, it’s becoming an unsafe investment. Capital is very smart. It leaves when things are not safe.”

Meister then said New York City “needs to really shape up.”

NEARLY ALL HOMES IN SAN FRANCISCO COST OVER $1M

The struggle to sell real estate is also being reported in San Francisco, Ca. and Washington, D.C. When asked what all three cities have in common, Meister answered, “The cities, they’re run by Democrats.”

“And what happened in the 2017 tax cut and reform bill was basically we put all the states on a level playing field. And they have to, they have to basically compete for the high earners and the job creators. And what happened is, you have a mass exodus from blue states to red states. States that are more favorable for taxes and for job creation.”

“And so what’s happening is these high earners, these high-net-worth individuals, these job creators are leaving the city because there’s places where they can go where there is better taxes, it’s more favorable to them,” Meister added.

“New York State is going to lose $2.8 billion of tax revenue. We’re going to lose 800,000 residents who pay taxes. This state has a serious problem. So does California.”

Amid Attorney General William Barr’s hearing on Capitol Hill about the Mueller report, Independent Women’s Voice President Tammy Bruce argued that the “drama” surrounding the report is “all ado about nothing” now that the report has been made public.

It was revealed Tuesday evening that special counsel Robert Mueller wrote a letter to Barr arguing that his interpretation of Mueller’s investigation “did not fully capture the context, nature, and substance of this office’s work and conclusions,” which Barr was questioned about during his Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Wednesday.

Bruce said that the proceedings that followed Barr’s summary of the report  illustrated that Mueller was a “diva” who didn’t like the attorney general putting his conclusions in the public eye.

“This is very strange, the timing of it all,” she said during an appearance on “Fox & Friends” Wednesday morning. “It seems to me like a diva who didn’t like the fact, this being Mueller, didn’t like the fact Barr is now effectively interpreting, initially interpreted the report and now the American people can decide for themselves. Maybe there is just not enough drama for some of these individuals,” she added.

Bruce asserted that the redacted version of Mueller’s full investigation allows the American people to make a decision for themselves about the president’s actions.

“The good news is that the American people can decide for themselves. They seem to already have done so. And the president was exonerated. That is the bottom line of this report. And that message seems to be resonating,” she said.

Barr was set to answer questions from the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday, though it’s possible that the hearing may be canceled or postponed because of an ongoing discussion about whether committee members will question Barr themselves, or if the questions will be posed by their attorneys.

“I think a lot of politicians don’t want to be ones in front of a camera asking those questions, because they might think the American people don’t like this dragging on, and they don’t,” Bruce said regarding the dispute.

“But, again, this is all ado about nothing,” she continued. “The report is out in its entirety. We can decide. People we trust have been interpreting it. This seems to be a big nothing in a certain sense.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham made sure Attorney General William Barr’s appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee got off to an explosive start.

Graham, R-S.C., spent a large chunk of his opening remarks discussing text messages between anti-Trump former FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page — before dropping an F-bomb while quoting one of their exchanges.

“October 19, 2016,” Graham said, referring to when the message was sent, “Trump is a f—ing idiot.”

Graham’s colorful reading went out live as part of the broadcast, prompting the South Carolina Republican to offer up an apology.

“Sorry to the kids out there,” he said, before continuing with the rest of his remarks.

He also read other texts between the two, some of which described Trump as “loathsome,” “an idiot” and “awful.”

It came as AG Barr defended his handling of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia report on Wednesday amid new revelations that Mueller expressed frustration to Barr about how the attorney general was portraying the investigation’s findings.

Barr’s first appearance on Capitol Hill since releasing a redacted version of the report presented a dramatic showdown as Democrats confronted him with allegations that he spun the investigation’s findings in President Trump’s favor. Democrats were also likely to accuse him of misleading lawmakers last month when he suggested he was unaware of concerns on the Mueller team about his actions.

Barr noted in his testimony Wednesday that Mueller concluded his investigation without any interference and that neither the attorney general nor any other Justice Department official overruled the special counsel on any action he wanted to take. Barr also defended his decision to step in and clear the president of obstruction of justice after Mueller presented evidence on both sides but didn’t reach a conclusion.

“The Deputy Attorney General and I knew that we had to make this assessment because, as I previously explained, the prosecutorial judgment whether a crime has been established is an integral part of the Department’s criminal process,” Barr said in his testimony.
