Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI-13). Screen grab via CNN.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI-13) gave a speech over the weekend to a human rights group in Michigan where she urged attendees to take bold action on the issue of illegal immigration and ICE.

The Free Beacon reports:

Tlaib, headlining a Detroit fundraiser this past weekend for the Michigan Coalition for Human Rights, complained of colleagues who are constantly “policing” what she says and lack willingness to embrace bold stands such as abolishing ICE. She called on her activist audience to join her in a hunger strike at the border.

“It’s going to take movements outside the halls of Congress,” Tlaib told the crowd, according to video captured by America Rising, a conservative group.

“I want you all to shut them down, we can shut them down,” Tlaib said to applause. “Don’t wait for this Congress to act, shut them down.”

“I know what they’re going to say, they’ll go, ‘What do you mean Rashida?’ Well I’ll tell you. There are some people that are using hunger strike, all these other things, going to the border, and I plan to.”

Promoting hunger strikes? Seriously?

Watch video of her remarks below:

Per Daily Caller, Tlaib’s office clarified her remarks this afternoon:

A spokesman for Tlaib did not respond to The Daily Caller News Foundation when asked if the congresswoman is planning to engage in a hunger strike, but denied that Tlaib called for supporters to launch one of their own.

“She did not call for a hunger strike,” Tlaib’s office told TheDCNF. “‘She mentioned that she knows of folks who have done hunger strikes. After that, she mentioned folks going to the southern border which she said she plans to do.”

Uh huh.

This reminds me of how Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY-14) went back and forth over the weekend over whether or not she supported organized boycotts of the New York Post over their 9/11 cover from last Thursday. First she said she did, then she said she didn’t, then she said she did.

These women literally don’t know what they’re saying from one minute to the next, probably because they don’t think about what they’re going to say before they say it.

In Tlaib’s case, it’s extremely irresponsible for a sitting member of Congress to encourage supporters to go on hunger strikes – whether she is calling for them or merely amplifying existing efforts. Somebody could die taking her words about hunger strikes to heart. If she had the maturity to understand how her words as an elected official matter, she would have never said them.

But as part of the Three Amigas she believes her words should be immune to criticism because she’s a progressive woman of color and stuff, so I guess we are supposed to just move on or something.

Good News America, “Last Man Standing” Is Getting an Eighth Season

Proving that right-leaning comedy does indeed have a place on mainstream television, Tim Allen’s “Last Man Standing” is once again coming back as it has been approved for an eighth season.

According to The Wrap, the show that was once canceled by ABC despite its success was picked up by Fox and debuted to massive viewership. The show has maintained that viewership since.

According to Fox Entertainment President Michael Thorn, renewing the show was something of a no-brainer as he called it “one of television’s most popular comedies”:

“‘Last Man Standing’ roared out of the gate on Fox, and has maintained its ratings dominance ever since,” said Michael Thorn, president, Entertainment for Fox Entertainment. “Much of that credit goes to the incredibly funny and talented Tim Allen, not to mention Nancy, Hector and the rest of the show’s great cast. We’d like to thank Kevin, Matt and the entire crew, along with our partners at 20th Century Fox Television, for overseeing one of television’s most popular comedies. We’d also like to congratulate them all on reaching 150 episodes – a milestone that’s well-deserved.”

The sitcom’s September premiere marked the network’s most-watched comedy in almost seven years, excluding NFL nights, and was the show’s highest-rated episode since the Season 2 premiere on ABC.

Comparatively, The Connors is not doing so well, with actors and crew already being forced to take a pay cut due to the shows flagging audience. The decline began when they fired Roseanne Barr from the show, whom many thought provided the actual laughs, as well as the politically middle of the road stances.

While some networks eliminate right-leaning viewpoints from their networks, Fox embraced the idea and is continuously rewarded for it.

The show that Allen built will now head toward it’s 150th episode, which the show’s Twitter account celebrated with a short clip.

Four ‘Improper Actions’ Made By Mueller During Collusion Investigation

Westlake Legal Group Robert-Mueller-620x325 Four ‘Improper Actions’ Made By Mueller During Collusion Investigation Front Page Stories Abuse of Power

In a photo taken Wednesday, June 21, 2017, Special Counsel Robert Mueller departs after a closed-door meeting with members of the Senate Judiciary Committee about Russian meddling in the election and possible connection to the Trump campaign, at the Capitol in Washington. (AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite)

Former Chair of the California Republican Party Tom Del Beccaro has an interesting piece at Fox News today in which he outlines four areas of “improper” action taken by Mueller in the Russia collusion report, beginning with the fact that Mueller should never have taken the job at all.

We’ve already learned from Attorney General William Barr that after nearly two years of investigation Mueller concluded there was no collusion between Trump and his presidential campaign and Russia to win the 2016 presidential election.

And we’ve learned that Barr and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein concluded from the Mueller report that the president didn’t obstruct justice.

The truth is that President Trump is right when he says the investigation should never even have taken place and that Mueller was the wrong person to head the probe, hired the wrong people as prosecutors, and conducted the investigation improperly.

Del Beccaro lays out four areas that he says represent reasons why the investigation never should have happened. They include

  • Mueller’s conflicts of interest
  • His tendency to hire biased prosecutors
  • His referrals dealing only with potential wrongdoing by Trump campaign, but none related to FISA abuses etc.
  • Prosecutorial misconduct in the arrest of Roger Stone

Del Beccaro begins by asserting that Mueller was too compromised by personal relationships (such as his long time friendship with former FBI Director James Comey) and by the fact that Trump interviewed him to replace Comey at the FBI to conduct an unbiased investigation. “In America, you should not – or rather, cannot – be both a witness and a fact-finder,” Del Beccaro writes.

From there, he outlines Mueller’s tendency to hire similarly compromised prosecutors. Del Beccaro reminds us that Mueller frequently said he wasn’t allowed to consider the partisanship of his prosecutors, “yet he somehow wound up with a raft full of Democrats and Hillary Clinton donors.” Del Beccaro says Mueller should have sought prosecutorial help outside DC’s swamp.

Then the GOP operative says Mueller followed all trails that led to potential wrongdoing on the part of Trump or his associates, but flat-out ignored other potential crimes such as the FISA court abuses and Comey’s admitted leaking of secret FBI information to the press.

Del Beccaro wraps up his analysis by offering a quote on the abuse of power from none other than George Washington. “Great power, Washington believed, was often found when not exercising power. Mueller would have done well to understand that,” Del Beccaro writes. Instead, Mueller chose to arrest Roger Stone in the most flamboyant way possible in a flagrant abuse of power.

Chuck Todd Makes One of the Dumber Comments on the Mueller Report You’ll See Today

Westlake Legal Group chuck-todd-620x377 Chuck Todd Makes One of the Dumber Comments on the Mueller Report You’ll See Today Russian interference nbc Mueller report Mueller Investigation media bias Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story Dumb Take Chuck Todd

This may be the least informed and self-aware hot take on the Mueller report so far. Congrats to Chuck Todd for making it.

Earlier today, he posted this tweet.

Oh, I don’t know Chuck. Maybe because you, your network, and the media at large spent two years pushing wild conspiracy theories about Trump colluding with the Russians. Perhaps that’s why no one had time to focus on being concerned that the Russians “hacked the election.”

There’s also the fact that no one actually “hacked the election.” Chuck Todd knows this but he’s a liberal partisan and threw that line in there on purpose, knowing it’s like catnip to his side of the aisle. In reality, no vote totals were changes, no machines were hacked, and nothing done by the Russians could even be logically construed to have changed the outcome of the election. A few hundred thousand dollars spent on Facebook to spread memes of…Jesus arm wrestling Hillary…did not change one vote. The only other aspect of this was the DNC hack and Hillary’s numbers went up after that because the media largely brushed it aside as a nothing-burger. Even still, John Podesta’s emails are not hacking “the election.”

What the Russians tried to do and what they actually did are too different things. Hillary had no one to blame but herself. If she hadn’t illegally setup a private email server and stocked it with classified information, there would have been no Comey letter in October. The Russians didn’t do that. Todd knows this but he’s a political actor, not a journalist, so he must push the Democratic narrative that the election was stolen.

But look, if Todd really felt the above was so crucial, he could have spent a little less time bloviating about crazy Trump/Russia conspiracies and a little more time on the separate issue of Russian interference. No one made him waste all his time on an obvious hoax. That’s on him, despite his lack of self-awareness.

Democrat Governor Roy Cooper Sides With the Abortion Lobby, Vetoes NC ‘Born Alive’ Bill

As predicted, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper (D) today has vetoed NC’s proposed Born Alive bill:

Gov. Roy Cooper on Thursday vetoed legislation that would have required doctors to provide the same care to an infant that survives an abortion as they give any other newborn.

“Laws already protect newborn babies, and this bill is an unnecessary interference between doctors and their patients,” Cooper said in his veto statement. “This needless legislation would criminalize doctors and other health care providers for a practice that simply does not exist.”

Brent Woodcox, staff attorney for NC Senate Republicans, explained why this rationale made no sense:

He also took off after Politifact’s North Carolina division over a very misleading and thinly-sourced fact check on a key claim made about the bill:

I countered some of the claims from a related fact check, too. Specifically this one:

Claims about New York’s law have been exaggerated.

The NC House recently passed a resolution in response to a new New York law, known as the “Reproductive Health Act.”

Republicans who wrote the NC resolution described the NY law as “an extreme abortion-on-demand policy that establishes an unfettered right to abortion … the RHA authorized abortion up until the moment of birth.”

A viral Facebook image made a similar claim: that, under the new NY law, it’s legal to “murder” a baby a minute before it would be born. PolitiFact rated it False.

See this also, which I wrote in February:

**NY’s Updated Abortion Law Means Man Won’t Get Charged In Murder Of Unborn Child**

As I noted last week, Cooper is beholden to the abortion lobby and the extreme left in this state, so it wasn’t shocking that he vetoed the bill. But there is the question of the timing of Cooper’s veto. The bill passed two days ago, and he performed his veto just this morning. Alexandra DeSanctis speculates as to why:

An attempt at burying the story in the midst of a super-heavy national news cycle?

What remains to be seen at this point is whether or not Republicans have the votes to override Cooper’s veto. They no longer have a veto-proof majority so they’d have to bring a few Democrats on board to help them with an override. That’s a tall order.

Stay tuned.

If you want to see just how bright the future is under socialism, then Venezuela can show you first and foremost just what the future under the worst economic system has ever seen looks like for those who become sick or injured.

A video uploaded by Michael Lima Cuadra to YouTube shows an injured person being taken to a hospital to see “Dr. Jesús María Casal Ramos” in Acarigua, located in Venezuela.

People can be seen gathering around the rear of a garbage truck, which had reportedly brought the injured person to the hospital as apparently there are no ambulances in Venezuela.

Within the video, a man can be heard explaining that there are no ambulances in Venezuela.

“Check this out,” says the man recording. “A garbage truck transporting a wounded person. This only happens in Venezuela.”

“This is saddening,” he adds.

Socialism is experiencing something of a popularity boost among the younger crowds in the United States and is only being spurred by the rise of such politicians as Sen. Bernie Sanders, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

However, socialism has never succeeded anywhere it’s been tried, and without a serious reprogramming of the human mind, likely never will. However, it has many workers in its PR department, including many members of the media and many teachers and professors who manage to put a very flowery idea of it in the brains of many of the young.

In an effort to combat this, Republican lawmakers have formed the “Anti-socialism” caucus, which has greatly upset members of the left.

(AP Photo/Evan Vucci)

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer issued a joint statement on the Mueller Report at 2 pm. It said:

The differences are stark between what Attorney General Barr said on obstruction and what Special Counsel Mueller have said on obstruction.

As we continue to review the report, one thing is clear: Barr presented a conclusion that the president did not obstruct justice while Mueller’s report appears to undercut that finding,

Yes, that’s it.

Imagine calling the Attorney General a liar and not offering any supporting evidence.

Pelosi and Schumer are signaling that they plan to keep on beating a dead horse. Given that the collusion ship has sailed, they have pivoted to the question of obstruction.

Since they failed to offer us a clue as to what they see as the differences between what Barr and Mueller have said on obstruction, I’ll assume it’s because Mueller and his minions were determined to leave the impression that Trump really did obstruct justice. They simply didn’t have quite enough evidence to prove obstruction beyond a reasonable doubt, so they carefully chose language that would allow the left to keep the door open on this issue. It was their goal to maintain the suspicion which has engulfed the Trump presidency from the beginning.

If there were anything definitive in the report, Pelosi and Schumer would have included it in their statement. “Mueller’s report appears to undercut Barr’s finding because on page 245, he includes…”

The National Review’s Andy McCarthy appeared on Fox News directly following Barr’s press conference and explained that “intent” is the determining factor in an obstruction charge. Did Trump fire FBI Director James Comey to end the counterintelligence investigation into Russia collusion? Obviously, Trump knew the investigation would survive Comey’s firing.

Even if it had been Trump’s intent, as we know, a government appointee serves at the pleasure of the president and can be fired anytime, for any reason. This never should have been an issue.

Pelosi and Schumer see the writing on the wall. The nearly three year long deep state conspiracy is about to be blown wide open and they’re trying to keep the focus on obstruction to steer the conversation away from it.

Time to bring out the big guns, Mr. President.

The meltdown on the left has manifested some very bizarre claims by various talking heads in their desperate attempts to make anything — and I mean anything — look like a chink in the Mueller report’s armor.

Take, for instance, this panel on MSNBC where Neal Katyal, former acting solicitor general and current SCOTUS lawyer, literally tries to explain that lawyers don’t use the term “collusion,” which he claims is a term only used by President Donald Trump.

Thus, suggests Katyal, Attorney General William Barr is somehow in Trump’s back pocket.

It’s not exactly difficult to look back and find all the times that the term “collusion” was used by everyone in the media to paint Trump as a Russian operative. This is something Matt Wolking posted in a fun music video featuring everyone in the media, politicians, and their grandmothers using the term.

Even a quick search result on various news websites shows just how often the term “collusion” was thrown around by nearly everyone.

At CNN we get 2,044 results when the term is searched for.

Even if many of these articles containing the word have nothing to do with Trump, there are enough about Trump to signify that the term was used ad nauseam by anyone trying to put Trump in Russia with the candlestick. For the past few years, we couldn’t escape hearing the word. I’m pretty sure some in the media were saying it in their sleep that they used it so often.

That said, I can’t necessarily blame the leftist media for making such bizarre and outrageous claims as the one Katyal made earlier today. For the longest time, they pinned all their hopes on the notion that Trump’s defeat would come at the hands of the Russian collusion narrative. Now that there is definitively no collusion, they’re rudderless.

Watching the stammering, straining, struggling dialogue on the news nets today in responding to having the full Robert Mueller investigation report is all the evidence needed that our contemporary media complex is incapable of objective news reporting. CNN, by way of example, has dispatched a full 9 person panel today to cover the release. That all nine were in chorus in looking into this for ANY proof of wrongdoing by President Trump is of little surprise.

MSNBC also trotted out its revolving door of experts, telling us the important details are those not found in the report. (A notable absence has been the fully discredited John Brennan). One guest provided the most audacious reinterpretation of events. In taking gaslighting to new depths legal expert Neal Katyal insists that only one person has ever used the term “collusion”.

“Only Trump uses that term”. You heard him, trying to claim that for the past two and a half years only the President has used that term. That comes as a sure surprise, especially considering this is a rather easily researched claim. Matt Wolking wasted little time rebutting this statement — he only had to look into the Mueller report for context: “the term has frequently been invoked in public reporting about the investigation,” says Mueller’s document.

Over on CNN Wolf Blitzer, holding up a binder of the printed out report, declared to the cameras, “We’re going through this very, very thoroughly.” That statement is more revealing than he intended because if the report itself had the ironclad proof of collusion and/or obstruction of justice there would not be a need to filter through the hundreds of pages to look for something objectionable. Noteworthy too is that the networks had little-to-no voices of differing interpretations. All were delving deeply to find their own segments to find proof of…something.

Chuck Todd seems strained to keep facts straight in this maelstrom of data that has been dumped, and dampened expectations. He puts out an old claim that has been long proven been false, but a need to revert is somewhat understandable.

Uh, “hacked, Chuck? No, that never took place. As for those cheering, Bill Barr this morning declared that Americans should be cheering that it has been proven that no cooperation with a foreign power to deride our election took place. The press, all the while, is cheering for some proof of nefarious behavior to emerge. Put those pom-poms away, Chuck – it’s unseemly.

The chyron left on the screen at CNN reads that Mueller was “unable to conclude that no criminal conduct occurred”. the This is to be interpreted that Mueller was unable to disprove a negative, so there can be that glimmer of hope. Not being explained by this glut of experts is that after two years nothing conclusive was found. That despite the fact Mueller requested an expansion of the scope of his investigation nothing tangible is found. And not one is even mentioning that the original thrust to look into collusion is completely brushed aside.

Panelist Jeffrey Toobin found his personal diamond in the exoneration. He leaned entirely on one sentence — in the hundreds of pages following years of investigations, hundreds of warrants, and thousands of subpoenas there was one sentence that had him holding out hope. In it, Mueller simply declared that Congress still retained the ability to impeach to explore possible obstruction. This is hardly revelatory, given that is a constitutional authority, and that Democrats have been bleating about impeachment for years already.

Yet these hopes ignore the core truth: if obstruction is such a slam dunk then it would have been declared in the report. Mueller has simply left enough of a window open for it to be explored by a zealot-driven political hunt. As today’s coverage has shown the zealotry is all set to race forward with their narrative.

The Media’s Favorite Line From the Mueller Report is Completely Meaningless

Westlake Legal Group CNN-Breakdown The Media’s Favorite Line From the Mueller Report is Completely Meaningless the washington post Politics Out of Context No Bombshell Mueller report Mueller Investigation Front Page Stories Front Page donald trump CNN

I was out of pocket during the release of the Mueller report so I got to sit back for a few hours and digest the reaction before writing on it.

The report was everything many of us have been saying it’d be. It’s mostly a nothing-burger wrapped in a lot of innuendo, so as to keep feeding the raging conspiracy kooks in the media. Sprinkled throughout it are plenty of cat-nip like phrases which don’t actually provide any evidence of the underlying insinuation. The section on obstruction, for example, is essentially a case of “here’s this stuff we think is sketchy, but we can’t really determine anything.” In other words, it’s a walking testament to exactly why the DOJ usually has regulations on keeping material like this private. It’s a garbage use of our legal system to use prosecutorial authority to slander people without actually bringing charges.

But I digress. The report was always going to be made public and it appears the President, in not choosing to exert executive privilege over anything, decided it was best to rip the band-aid off. That has of course led to a complete media frenzy. Go through The Washington Post’s Twitter feed right now and it’s just dozens of out of context headlines and “analysis” pieces omitting the bottom line, that being that Trump didn’t collude with the Russians and that there was not sufficient evidence to charge obstruction.

As Katie Pavlich wrote, it’s essentially a bunch of pointless palace intrigue.

There’s no “there there” in terms of actual, substantive evidence of criminal wrongdoing. Its only real value is to serve as a second Steele dossier. Another product full of speculation that ultimately doesn’t lead to its promised end. Sure, it’s couched in authority of a special counsel, but again, there’s a reason they concluded no collusion and didn’t charge obstruction. If they had the goods, they would have used them. No one can doubt that.

One particular line really got the media’s attention though. I got no less than three alerts on my phone from different major media sources presenting the following as some kind of bombshell.

The insinuation here is obviously that Trump was admitting guilt. The thinking goes “He said he was F-ed and his presidency was over! That means he knew he’d committed crimes!!”

Let’s think about that. Imagine for a second that you are accused of a crime. You know you didn’t do this crime. Yet, everyone in the media is saying you did and you’ve now got a special counsel with unlimited resources and the full force of every government agency about to go full bore at you. Would you have confidence in the system? Or would you be nervous of having your activities misconstrued and turned into something they weren’t?

The answer for those who are honest is the latter. If I knew the FBI was putting 40 guys on me, I’d be incredibly nervous no matter how innocent I was. I’d also recognize that it was going to destroy my life, regardless of the outcome, because of how vicious the innuendo resulting from that investigation would be.

That is essentially the situation the President was (and continues to be) in and that was the motivation behind the comment. How do I know this? Because he said so just a few lines later in the report.

See what I mean about out of context headlines? In reality, Trump was simply pointing out that Mueller’s appointment would stall his presidency and keep him from accomplishing anything. For the most part he was right. He was not admitting guilt or any other such nonsense. He was reacting in a way most would react when faced with a major investigation over something they didn’t even do.

This is exactly why this report never should have been made public. I understand the political challenges in keeping it private because it’s a special counsel report, but if that’s the argument, then this shows why we never should have had a special counsel in the first place. This report was a complete waste of time and money. It’s only value is to serve as partisan fodder for Democrats and CNN hosts. They will now spend two more years taking excerpts, separating them from principle conclusions, and inventing new conspiracy theories. Rinse and repeat.

This country has real issues that are worth spending time on. Things that actually matter and affect the lives of everyday Americans. But the media and the Democratic party would rather spend the rest of Trump’s first term chasing their mythical white whale for political gain. If there’s any justice left, it won’t work in their favor.
