Think You’ve Heard the Stupidest Thing Ever? I Disagree. Witness the Woke’s New Condemnation of Ikea

So there you are, thinking you’ve heard of the stupidest thing possible. But then I swoop in with this.

Do you appreciate affordable, well-designed furniture? Are you a fan of modern, minimalist decor? Do you hanker for a hunka Ikea?

Well, your favorite Swedish slinger of Lingonberry soda is in trouble.

In fact, its worse than you may imagine. The assembly-required home goods haven recently had the nerve to…**Trigger Warning**…serve peas.

Yes — it’s that horrible.

Peas, I said.

Calm yourself…

It all started when the backer of the Billy Bookcase decided to be a jerk and serve similar chicken.

Jerk chicken, in case you didn’t know, is a marinated Caribbean dish, and the maker of your favorite fake-fur rug paired it with white rice and the aforementioned panic-inducing spherical seeds.

You see, Ikea should be sensitive to the fact that the Scotch-bonnet-peppered meat isn’t traditionally teamed with dadgum green peas! It’s supposed to be kidney beans in coconut milk, ya neanderthals:

Shame on Ikea for feigning a penchant for diversity.

Let the outrage begin!

It’s shameful cultural appropriation, and they didn’t even hire any Caribbeans to guide them in their theft:

As you can see above, the store’s repented.

How could those white people have ever thought this was okay??

At least one person defended the home of the Klippan loveseat, Färgrik mug, Riktig Ögla curtain rings, Flärdfull candle, Knutstorp chair, and Ödmjuk teapot:

The store can use the support; it just can’t seem to catch a break with the Painfully Conscious — Ikea even made CheatSheet’s list of “5 Stores Where You Should Not Buy Furniture.”

The SuperWoke list excoriated the furniture retailer for having the nerve to:

  • Use wood
  • Not be located as pervasively as McDonalds

See for yourself:

However, the larger concerns around Ikea have more to do with environmental and other costs, not necessarily the furniture itself. “Can we afford to keep shopping at places where an item’s price reflects only a fraction of its societal costs?” one Atlantic column asked in 2009.

Seven years and counting after the article was published, it appears we can. But it doesn’t necessarily mean we should. For one, IKEA has pushed many transportation costs onto the consumers themselves, likely without them even thinking about it. The average consumer drives 50 miles round trip to make it to the assembly-required mecca, often far away from city centers so the business can avoid higher taxes. At the time the article was written, the retailer was also the third-largest consumer of wood, used in the particleboard now ubiquitous with the brand.

But the bigger issue, as the Atlantic points out, is that the cheaper furniture invites us not to invest or repair the items. When a bookcase breaks or a dresser becomes unusable, we throw it away instead of repairing it, like we would an heirloom armoire. It might get recycled, or it might not. Either way, we’re using more natural resources without adding lasting value. For those reasons, “IKEA is the least sustainable retailer on the planet,” said Wig Zamore, a Massachusetts environmental activist who worked with IKEA and supports some of the company’s regional green initiatives.

Did the person who wrote that article stop to think that perhaps people drive far to get to Ikea because they love it so much?

Perhaps the author could’ve also considered that if you open a store in New Jersey, it’ far from New York; if you open one in New York, it’s far from New Jersey.

All places are close to some things and far from others.

Oh well, who needs reason when you’ve got an outrageous signaling of virtue at hand?

I’m keen on the Swedist store, evil Nazi peas notwithstanding.

The next time you’re there, take my advice: getcha a softserve vanilla cone. Those things are delicious.

DOJ and the DNI Tell Adam Schiff to FOAD Over Whistleblower Report and Schiff Makes a Toothless Threat to Go to Court

The current scandal floating around Washington is something that may or may not have happened. At a classified briefing today, Intelligence Community IG Michael Atkinson was asked about a rumored “whistleblower” case that Adam Schiff believes a) concerns President Trump b) talking to a foreign leader that c) offended said whistleblower. At issue is a law that requires the IC to provide certain investigative reports to Congress under certain circumstances.

The Washington Post has reported this:

Trump’s interaction with the foreign leader included a “promise” that was regarded as so troubling that it prompted an official in the U.S. intelligence community to file a formal whistleblower complaint with the inspector general for the intelligence community, said the former officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.

It was not immediately clear which foreign leader Trump was speaking with or what he pledged to deliver, but his direct involvement in the matter has not been previously disclosed. It raises new questions about the president’s handling of sensitive information and may further strain his relationship with U.S. spy agencies. One former official said the communication was a phone call.

The best guess is that the foreign leader was Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the “promise” was of better relations with the US if the Ukraine reenergized its investigation into Joe Biden’s role in influence peddling to aid his son, Hunter, when he was a director (how did that happen, right?) of Ukraine’s largest national gas company and his intervention to get the prosecutor looking into Hunter Biden’s corruption fired. This is Joe Biden’s quote:

“I remember going over (to Ukraine), convincing our team … that we should be providing for loan guarantees. … And I was supposed to announce that there was another billion-dollar loan guarantee. And I had gotten a commitment from (then Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko) and from (then-Prime Minister Arseniy) Yatsenyuk that they would take action against the state prosecutor (Shokin). And they didn’t. …

“They were walking out to a press conference. I said, nah, … we’re not going to give you the billion dollars. They said, ‘You have no authority. You’re not the president.’ … I said, call him. I said, I’m telling you, you’re not getting the billion dollars. I said, you’re not getting the billion. … I looked at them and said, ‘I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money.’ Well, son of a bitch. He got fired. And they put in place someone who was solid at the time.”

This is Schiff’s letter to Atkiknson earlier in the month demanding to see the complaint.

Things got a lot hotter today when Atkinson refused to confirm or deny any part of the story. What is clear from the letter Atkinson sent to Schiff on September 17, is that the Department of Justice and the Director of National Intelligence are directing him to not talk to Schiff and that he’s not happy about it.

Schiff, being the needle…ummm…pencil neck that he is threatened legal action.

Schiff is just blowing smoke and he knows it. A rabidly anti-Trump national security lawyer from LawFareBlog gives this analysis:

Absent knowing what happened that got panties wadded, I’m not going to waste a lot of time wondering about it. I will note that it is entirely unsurprising that as riddled as the IC is with hard core #Resistance members and as much information as has been leaked with the express purpose of damaging Trump the release of another “foreign meddling” allegation into a presidential election is hardly shocking. And, given that Rudy Giuliani was in Ukraine just a few weeks ago, allegedly to dig up stuff on Biden, the conversation that is rumored to have taken place between Trump and the Ukraine president would also be unsurprising. I’m not sure it is a good look, but I’m not sure that Joe Biden running interference for his kid and getting an noted anti-corruption prosecutor fired is a particularly good look either.

The fat guy who is married to Kellyanne Conway is squirting blood out of his whatever:

As are a lot of others on the left.

The bottom line here is that unless the whistleblower goes directly to Schiff, and faces the music for doing that because that will not be a cost-free endeavor, then Schiff can scream all he wants but nothing happens. If the whistleblower does out himself, then we have another circus on our hands.

Trump Wins a Major Victory Over California’s Unconstitutional Garbage

Several months back, the freedom loving legislators out in California decided it’d be totally constitutional to pass a law keeping Donald Trump off their state ballot if he doesn’t turn over his tax returns to them. In what was practically an extortion attempt, they sought to disenfranchise millions of Republican voters based on an arbitrary requirement above and beyond what federal law requires. It’s wasn’t quite a poll tax, but it’s wasn’t much better.

This led to Republicans suing to block the move.

The 15-page court filing alleges five counts of illegal action by California officials in enacting the tax returns law. Trump’s attorneys contend a state can only issue “procedural regulations” governing its election for president. Even if the state did have a role, the attorneys wrote, California’s law “does not serve a compelling state interest and, in any event, is not narrowly tailored to that interest.”

Now, we’ve got a decision that’s been handed down and it’s not good news for Gavin Newsom and crew.

A federal judge on Thursday handed President Donald Trump a victory in his effort to keep his financial information secret, siding with his campaign’s effort to block a California law aimed at forcing him to release his tax returns.

The ruling by U.S. District Judge Morrison England Jr. comes as the president faces multiple Democratic-led efforts to force him to reveal his returns. Also Thursday, Trump sued to block New York prosecutors from their push obtain the returns as part of a criminal investigation.

You can almost feel the sadness in ABC News’ write-up. They had to get their jab in there about the judge being a Bush appointee, although I’ve been assured there are no such thing as Bush, Obama, or Trump judges. Funny how that rule goes out the window when it’s a Republican appointed to the bench.

Trump has bucked decades of precedent by refusing to release them, arguing they are under audit.

The above statement is irrelevant. A state simply can’t add additional requirements for being president outside of what the constitituion requires. What’s to stop a state from passing laws that keep Democrats off the ballot? Or certain age ranges? Oddly enough, CA’s former governor, Jerry Brown, got this right. He vetoed a similar bill in 2017, arguing it was a dangerous precedent.

Former Gov. Jerry Brown, a Democrat, vetoed similar tax return legislation in 2017, arguing it would create a slippery slope of putting extra requirements on presidential candidates.

Of course it’s a slippery slope. It’s none of Gavin Newsom’s business who his citizens choose to vote for and it’s certainly not his job, nor the job of the Democrat dominated legislature, to put barriers up in order to stop them from voting for a certain person. Is Donald Trump over 35 and a native born citizen? He’s eligible, period. Arguments about tax returns are not an excuse to deny voters the right to vote for who they want. This is no different than Jim Crow era laws keeping black Americans off ballots because they didn’t meet certain, extra-constitutional criteria. Even if you think Trump should release his tax returns, that can’t be used to deny people their right to vote for their preferred candidate.

This ruling happened at the District Court level within the Eastern District of California, so you can bet it will be appealed and end up at the Ninth Circuit. They’ll likely overturn the ruling and then the Supreme Court will have to smack them down yet again. That cycle has become fairly predictable, as we now live under Trump law, i.e. everything Trump does must be opposed regardless of the legal facts at play.

This ordeal doesn’t hold much practical value because Trump doesn’t really need to be on California’s primary ballot to win. But this could stop other states from trying similar stunts. Let’s hope sanity prevails here sooner rather than later.

Just Days After Voting in a New Leader, the Women’s March Cans Her Due to Radical Anti-Israel, Anti-American Remarks

Westlake Legal Group protest-2734408_1280-620x349 Just Days After Voting in a New Leader, the Women’s March Cans Her Due to Radical Anti-Israel, Anti-American Remarks zahra billoo Wonder Woman Women's March Women Uncategorized The Sexes Sharia Law religion Politics Nazis Linda Sarsour Islam ISIS Gal Gadot Front Page Stories Feminism Featured Story democrats Culture & Faith Culture council of american islamic relations anti-semitism Allow Media Exception Abortion

It’s an odd thing — a pro-abortion, anti-Trump organization touting itself as a group representative of all women, perpetually associating with a religion that’s considerably restrictive where women are concerned.

Only days after naming a new board member — and after parting ways from some of its more anti-semitic members, including pro-Sharia Linda Sarsour — the Women’s March has ousted Zahra Billoo for radical anti-Israel statements previously made on social media.

Hence, Zahra’s now denounced the WM and their “Islamophobic smear campaign.”

So what kind of things had the former executive director of the controversial Council of American Islamic Relations said?

Well, as reported by The Daily Caller, in 2017, she listed her reasons for boycotting Wonder Woman. The movie starred Gal Gadot, who’d served in the Israeli Defense Forces. Here’s what Zahra had to say:

“I similarly would not watch a movie where the lead actor or actress were proud of their participation in the US military, ISIS, or Al Qaeda. Don’t guess, I’ll just tell you, I believe all of them are comparably evil.”

She also called Gal a “murderer,” condemning “Apartheid Israel.”

Press Pause: Wonder Woman was awesome. If you haven’t seen it, please do. Gal was wonderful.

Moving on, in a February 2018 Facebook entry, Zahra equated American military to ISIS and Nazis. Describing an encounter with a Marine recruiter, she offered this hunk o’ words:

“He explained the promise of the educational benefits that lured him in. He was otherwise not going to be able to go to school. I shared that financial benefits are often a recruiting tactic for groups like ISIS also. That was tricky for me. Gently comparing his experience to that of ISIS fighters. I refrained from comparing him to a Nazi cook, who though a cook, was still part of the Nazi operation. It took a lot to not say it.”

Zahra posted a 25-tweet-long series of criticism about her dismissal just after midnight Thursday. Here’s a little bit put together for ya:

Since this is going to be in your newsfeeds in the morning – here’s a thread about me being voted off the board of @WomensMarch tonight. A few hours ago, I was voted off the @WomensMarch national board. This followed an Islamophobic smear campaign led by the usual antagonists, who have long targeted me, my colleagues, and anyone else who dares speak out in support of Palestinian human rights and the right to self-determination. The past 48 hours have been a spiral of bad news and smear efforts. Part of the smear campaign is motivated by opponents of the Women’s March, because the organization has traditionally challenged the status quo of power and white supremacy in our country. However, much of the campaign is driven by people who oppose me and my work challenging the occupation of Palestine, our country’s perpetuation of unjust and endless wars, and law enforcement operations targeting the American Muslim community. The Women’s March, Inc. is an organization I once held dear. I spoke at the first #WomensMarch, spoke at regional marches every year after, spoke at the #WomensConvention, participated in national actions including the original #Kavanaugh protests, and worked to mobilize Muslim women for their efforts. During the past few years right-wingers, from the President’s son to the Anti-Defamation League and troll armies, have targeted the Women’s March, Inc. For so long, I’ve admired their resilience in speaking truth to power, in working together, and in never cowering. Over and over again, the co-founders of Women’s March, Inc., @lsarsour, @msladyjustice1, @TamikaDMallory, and @bobblanddesign, put their lives on the line, winning power for all women in all of our diversity. The Women’s March, Inc. that voted me off its board tonight is one that no longer demonstrates the strength that inspired millions of women across the country. To see and experience its new leaders caving to right-wing pressure, and casting aside a woman of color, a Muslim woman, a long-time advocate within the organization, without the willingness to make any efforts to learn and grow, breaks my heart.

The Women’s March was destined to go the way of the dodo bird, given its definitive tie to #MeToo. In a world of surging trends, the media perpetually tries to sell us on what’s most important. But that’s always fake news — as soon as there’s a newer story, yesterday’s headlines are Outsville.

And now, so is Zahra Billoo. And her tie to the pro-woman, anti-conservative-woman Women’s March.

-ALEX

Beto O’Rourke’s gun confiscation plan and “Hell yes” comments from last week’s Democratic debate have been the talk of the Washington, DC media circuit and political commentators for the last week.

Many Democratic House and Senate members and candidates for president have been asked to weigh in on where they stand on what O’Rourke has proposed. Some oppose it on grounds the position will hurt the party in the future, while others support it, saying concerns about eroding the 2nd Amendment amount to nothing more than “far-right fearmongering.

With all that in mind, you’d think that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) would have an idea just what stances his Democratic colleagues have taken on the issue in the event it is brought before the Senate floor for consideration in the near future.

The Times Union reports Schumer is claiming he doesn’t know of any Democrat who supports Beto’s plan:

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer pooh-poohed O’Rourke as unrepresentative of Democratic views.

“I don’t know of any other Democrat who agrees with Beto O’Rourke, but it’s no excuse not to go forward,” Schumer said on a conference call with upstate reporters.

Seriously? How … could he not know that there are two Senators currently running for president who have voiced support for Beto O’Rourke’s gun confiscation plan? Cory Booker (NJ) and Kamala Harris (CA) both have endorsed it. While Booker’s and Harris’ presidential campaigns are going nowhere fast, they both have been floated as vice presidential possibilities.

Both Senators have penchants for staging theatrics at politically opportune times, so I wouldn’t discount either of them putting forth some type of symbolic proposal in the Senate similar to what Beto has proposed, even though they know it wouldn’t have a chance of going anywhere.

And as I wrote over the weekend, there are a number of other presidential candidates including frontrunners Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders who have expressed a willingness to get the government involved in some sort of “buyback” program, though they’ve indicated their programs would be voluntary.

Failed presidential candidate and current House member Eric Swalwell said over a year ago that gun owners should be forced to sell their “assault weapons” to the government. If the gun owners didn’t, Swalwell stated that “we should criminally prosecute any who choose to defy it by keeping their weapons.”

His position hasn’t changed.

There’s just no excuse for Schumer not knowing this information. Unless he’s lying.

On Thursday, Republican Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy had kind words for own-worst-enemy candidate Beto O’Rourke.

John’s grateful for the punk rockin’ onesie-wearer’s honesty when it comes to his intention to confiscate America’s most popular hunting rifle.

Speaking to Fox News host Sandra Smith, the senator praised O’Rourke, who married into a half-billion dollar fortune but promises to fight the country’s privileged millionaires:

“Look, there are two groups of people behind these bills. There’s a group of people who, I think in good faith, honestly believe that further curtailing our Second Amendment rights will enhance public safety. But there’s another group that just hates the Second Amendment, and I want to thank Congressman Beto O’Rourke for being honest — I mean, his honesty was refreshing.”

Beto appears — as do many, many, many, many MANY people sounding off on guns — to know absolutely nothing about them. On Thursday, he simultaneously vowed to steal citizens’ hunting rifles while clarifying that they’ll still have their hunting rifles (here).

John believes the 2020 hopeful must’ve lost a page or two, but he ain’t the only one:

“Beto’s copy of the Bill of Rights goes from one to three. Mine includes the Second Amendment. But there are a whole host of people here in Washington D.C. — not all of my Democratic friends, but many of my Democratic friends — they don’t believe in the Second Amendment.”

The Louisiana man told Fox those who don’t believe there are lots of Betos are livin’ in denial:

“They would be happy to confiscate America’s guns. And if you don’t believe that, then you probably also still believe in Big Foot. I mean, it’s a fact and everybody up here knows it.”

It seems to me that Beto must have a Big Foot, because he keeps shooting himself in it.

As for any real-world legislation, will the parties come to some agreement on expanding background checks?
Sen. John had this to say:

“I wouldn’t bet my house on it, and if I were betting your house, I’d probably say maybe. We’ve got to see what the proposals are first. The president’s opinion matters. I met with Bill Barr yesterday. I think the White House sent him up here because most people in the Senate have great respect for him.”

But the 2nd Amendment still stands:

“The Bill of Rights isn’t an a la carte menu, Sandra. The Second Amendment is just as important as the Fourth and the First.”

Elizabeth Warren Makes a Joke of Herself by Doing the Worst Thing Possible After Denouncing Lobbying as ‘Legalized Bribery’

Here’s an odd way to go about things.

On Monday, presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren revealed an anti-corruption plan that would instigate a “cooling off” period for lobbyists prior to being employed by the government.

The plan would also prevent them from donating to political campaigns.

And why? Because, as per Elizabeth in a piece for Medium, that’s “legalized bribery.”

Got that? Lobbying is bad:

“The fundamental promise of our democracy is that every voice matters. But when lobbyists and big corporations can buy influence from politicians, that promise is broken. The first thing to do to fix it is to end lobbying as we know it.”

Duly noted.

So what’d she do the very next day? Hire a lobbyist.

Kimberly Diaz Scott — who, as recently as January, was a registered lobbyist for the Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates — announced her exit from the organization in order to lead Elizabeth’s campaign in the Sunshine State.

But, as Kimberly told the Miami Herald, she’ll still be carrying the abortion torch:

“I won’t be far from the movement, as I’m humbled and proud to announce my transition as the Florida State Director for Warren for President, assuring that we will continue to fight like hell to elect a brilliant leader who will work to protect the health, safety and future of ALL people. 2020 is not for the rich or selfish, 2020 is for us.”

Got that class warfare lesson? 2020 is for Elizabeth, not for the rich or selfish.

Therefore, Elizabeth clearly isn’t rich.

Kimberly oughta check out the Forbes article “How Elizabeth Warren Built A $12 Million Fortune.”

As for selfishness, how would the former lobbyist otherwise explain a woman as white as the chick from Morton Salt using the lie that she’s an Indian to advance her career?

Among the worst politics has to offer, people open their mouths and leak words that have no bearing on reality (here). From my perspective, the moment someone of wealth pretends not to be — or anyone on their staff participates in the charade — that candidate’s as goofy as all get-out (here). That’s one thing, I believe, people have always liked about Trump: He doesn’t apologize for his success.

Anyway, back to lobbying, here’s more from The Daily Wire:

Warren’s plan said lobbyists were effectively bribing politicians by donating to politicians, but her own political campaigns have received at least $95,000 from lobbyists between 2012 and 2018, CNBC reported.

“Under my proposal, current lobbyists won’t be able to take government jobs for 2 years after lobbying, with limited exceptions for when the hiring is in the national interest,” Warren’s plan states. “Corporate lobbyists will have to wait at least 6 years — no exceptions, and no waivers.”

So Elizabeth — who takes money from lobbyists — is against taking money from lobbyists.

That’s…rich.

Squad Blues: AOC Stomps Feet After Pro-Life Democrat Says His Primary Opponent Is as Extreme as She Is

Earlier this year, pro-abortion groups like Planned Parenthood, Emily’s List, and NARAL enthusiastically threw their support behind Marie Newman in the IL-3 Congressional race. Newman is a pro-abortion Democrat who is trying to primary out Rep. Dan Lipinski, who is one of the last pro-life Democrats in Congress.

Newman tried and failed in 2018 to unseat Lipinski, and decided to give it another go again this year. In addition to having the backing of the pro-abortion groups mentioned above, former presidential candidate Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (NY) also endorsed her this election cycle – as she did in 2018.

Though Gillibrand’s endorsement and that of current Democratic presidential candidates Bernie Sanders (VT) and Elizabeth Warren (MA) are feathers in Newman’s cap, she received an endorsement this week that is even much more coveted in the fever swamps of the progressive left: Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY).

The New York Times reports:

“Marie Newman is a textbook example of one of the ways that we could be better as a party — to come from a deep blue seat and to be championing all the issues we need to be championing,” Ms. Ocasio-Cortez said in an interview.

Of Mr. Lipinski, she said: “The fact that a deep blue seat is advocating for many parts of the Republican agenda is extremely problematic. We’re not talking about a swing state that is being forced to take tough votes.”
[…]
“We are so proud that Marie Newman is the first Justice Democrat of this cycle to receive an endorsement from Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez,” said Alexandra Rojas, the executive director of Justice Democrats.

Lipinski responded to the news by noting that Newman would be the equivalent of a 5th member of the Squad if she defeated him:

“Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s endorsement of Marie Newman makes crystal clear that Ms. Newman is an extreme candidate who is completely out of step with the voters of Illinois’ Third District who do not want to be represented by a fifth member of the “Squad,” Lipinski said in a statement.

“The Democratic Party — and our country — cannot afford an obstructionist “Tea Party of the Left” when we need to focus on winning this next election and passing policies that will truly help working families and all who are struggling in America today,” he said.

This fauxfended tough girl AOC bigly. She clapped back on the Twitter machine:

“Aggressive statements” – is she … serious? I’d say Lipinski kept it pretty tepid (read his full statement here) in comparison to what he could have (and perhaps should have) said about the unquestionable extremism of the Squad.

AOC’s little tantrum just proves once again how incapable she is of handling even the mildest of criticisms. I’m surprised she didn’t accuse Lipinski of inciting violence against the Squad, which as we all know by now is Standard Operating Procedure for the Queenie Quartet.
