Nick wrote yesterday about how House Republicans who are frustrated by the secretive nature of the so-called “impeachment inquiry” process decided to stop talking about it and took action, storming the SCIF room where Schiff was conducting his show trial witness tampering witness questioning.

High drama, of course, ensued, with Schiff and Co. scurrying away with the witness while the fed up Republicans staged a sit-in, hoping to negotiate with Schiff for full access to witnesses and transcripts. Unfortunately they weren’t successful, but they did eat pretty good while in the midst of the stand-off.

One of the biggest “concerns” for Democrats and reporters who were present for the goings-on yesterday was whether or not any Republicans/Republican staffers who stormed the highly-secured area had taken any audio or video, which would be a no-no since cell phones are not allowed in the room:

One former CBS journalist in particular was enraged, and demanded serious action be take against the Republican “invaders”, including questioning them for possible foreign allegiances:

Leavitt, an “award-winning multimedia journalist” according to his Twitter bio and whose credits include CBS (though he was never an employee), got read the riot act by Twitter users:

CNN national security/legal analyst Susan Hennessey, who is no fan of Republicans, wrote a Twitter thread noting that in the scheme of things, Republicans bringing their phones into the SCIF was not really much of a “security compromise.” That probably won’t be enough for the David Leavitt types, but then again really nothing would be.

In a Shocking Turn of Event Vichy Conservatives are Outraged By GOP Representatives Invading the Holy Sanctum of the House SCIF

Yesterday, a couple of dozen GOP Representatives bulled their way into the Sensitive Compartment Information Facility in the House of Representatives in order to disrupt the Star Chamber proceedings being conducted by California Democrat Adam Schiff. This is allegedly related to impeachment, but as it is being handled by the House Intelligence Committee rather than Fat Jerry’s Judiciary Committee, one doubts it has anything at all to do with impeachment and is merely a vehicle for Schiff to leak bullsh** to a credulous and culpable press.

The immediate effect was that virtually every Twitter lefty and NeverTrumper, particularly those who have never in their lives held a security clearance, to suddenly become experts on storing classified information and mobile devices in SCIFs. This is knowledge the obtained sometime after Top Secret reconnaissance satellite imagery, which can only come from within a SCIF, was found on Hillary Clinton’s phone.

For overwrought fearmongering and sheer Chicken-Little-ism, this thread can’t be beat. EVER.

Just because a SCIF CAN contain classified information doesn’t mean it DOES. The facility is constructed to prevent eavesdropping of any variety and Schiff was using it as a prop to make his endeavor seem much more serious than either it or he are and to prevent people he doesn’t want in depostions from attending. Essentially, he’s using it as Calvin and Hobbes used their tree house.

READ: No, Republicans Entering the SCIF to Protest Schiff Did Not Endanger National Security

I’d like to say I was shocked by what happened afterwards, but I wasn’t. Quin Hillyer was on the case

though I think Ace nailed that one cold

and this

Good heaven. This is like someone writing bad parody of a Bulwark article topped off by a bad parody of a Rick Wilsom comment on that Bulwark parody. It is not only insulting to the reader and beclowing to the writer, it is just the inchoate cry of NeverTrumpers who are shocked that the GOP is not going along with Schiff ugly little bit of theater. For people who have been beating the rest of us over the head with their purity and high minded principles, it is no surprise to find those principles have evaporated when they would have demanded that Schiff adhere to historical process.

Once you clear away the bullsh** about the SCIF, you’re left with a very simple binary decision. Do you think that Schiff’s inquiry is legitimate or not? If you do, and you’re fine with an impeachment process that is diametrically opposed to the Clinton and Nixon processes, then you are probably upset because it takes away from the presumed gravity of the situation (you’ll note I did mention Schiff was involved). If, on the other hand, you think the ongoing process is a travesty and a clown show, then you have no obligation to treat it as anything other than that and demonstrate to the world just how ridiculous it is.

I am clearly and unapologetic in the latter category. The Democrats have turned the most solemn duty of the House of Representatives into a farce. If they want to impeach President Trump, they can do so. But they should have the courage to follow precedent and traditions in order to try to establish legitimacy rather than make it an obvious political lynching. And since they have created this farce, then the GOP has every right and every obligation to join in and make it the Platonic Ideal of farce. I hope there is much more of this and I hope in continues until the Democrats agree to observe the same process used in the last two presidential impeachments.

Shockingly, the Media Absolutely Loved Disruptive Congressional Sit-Ins Until Republicans Did It

Stop me if you’ve heard this before. The media lauded Democrats as brave and revolutionary when they did something but now decry it as dangerous and a breach of decorum when Republicans do it. Shocking, right?

That’s exactly the dynamic at play with the current consternation over Republicans entering the SCIF (which they absolutely have a legal right to do as Congressional members) and we’ve got receipts.

You may recall back in 2016 when Democrats decided to shut down all proceedings by staging a sit-in on the House floor. For nearly two days, they stayed there.

Here was the media’s response.

The slobbering praise was so bad that NBC reporters were lauding the fact that Kim Kardashian was tweeting about it. You heard words like “historic” over and over. Brooke Baldwin is almost salivating over John Lewis’ “impassioned” speech. Chuck Todd said this would be the “recipe” for getting a vote. Comparisons to the Civil Rights movement were made.

It was unbelievably positive. There were zero concerns about decorum, holding up other work, or the fact that it was clearly just a political stunt. None at all.

But when Republicans do it in protest, it’s suddenly really, really awful. Funny how that works.

If you read the responses to that tweet, what you’ll see is a ton of “THAT’S DIFFERENT!!” hot takes because of the SCIF being involved.

Here are the facts, some of which I shared in a piece last night. The SCIF is legally accessible by all Congressional members. Period. The fact that Schiff is choosing to abuse it does not turn it into his own personal sanctuary. There was also nothing going on that was classified within those proceedings and no matter what happens in there, authorities would have been checking for breaches afterward. That’s standard procedure. They don’t otherwise have no security measures unless Republicans hand in cellphones while inside. To suggest such is to paint a false picture of what is actually occurring.

What we are seeing here is pure hypocrisy, plain and simple. These media giants absolutely loved political stunts before they were against political stunts. No one should be taking their criticisms as anything other than more partisan rancor.

Abortion Clinic Asks Ambulance to Drive With No Sirens to Not Draw Attention to Botched Abortion

Westlake Legal Group Abortion-20-week-old-fetus Abortion Clinic Asks Ambulance to Drive With No Sirens to Not Draw Attention to Botched Abortion Texas hospital healthcare Front Page Stories Featured Story Clinic Botched Abortion austin ambulance Allow Media Exception Abortion

If an abortion goes wrong, patients must be taken to an actual clinic or hospital where the patient can then be worked on by actual medical staff. This usually means an ambulance ride, but for an abortion clinic in Austin, Texas, presenting the idea that abortions are the safest and healthiest thing any woman can do must be maintained.

According to LifeNews.com, records of a 9-1-1 call show that the Austin abortion clinic “Whole Woman’s Health” messed up an abortion procedure in August and requested an ambulance come and retrieve a patient. The clinic requested that the ambulance nix the sirens so as not to draw attention according to the call transcript:

WWH: “So, we’re transporting a patient.  She was having a surgical procedure here with us for termination services, and unfortunately she’s having some type of an infection that makes us unable to continue with the procedure, so the doctor wanted to transfer her to the hospital.”

911: “How old is the patient?”

WWH: “She is 31.”

. . .

WWH: “Yes, and if you could request that they come without the sirens?”

911: “Yeah, they do come with their sirens, but they usually shut them down when they get close.”

The abortion clinic was reportedly going through a multi-day procedure that involves opening the cervix over the course of one or two days then dismembering the baby within the womb. It’s unclear if the clinic was the cause of the infection, but the clinic had to halt the procedure and allow the hospital to finish it according to records.

“Calling for an ambulance to run with no sirens shows that Whole Woman’s Health is trying to hide their medical emergencies from the public,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman according to LifeNews.  “Women have the right to know what they face when they walk into an abortion facility, and that is one of the reasons we publish these incidents. The public needs to understand just how dangerous abortions really are.”

The current narrative from the pro-abortion advocates is that abortion is incredibly routine and safe, however, botched abortions happen more often than they’d like to tell you. According to Fox News, babies are actually born alive during botched abortions more often than the media is likely to discuss:

The most recent information comes from Minnesota, which reported in June that three infants were born alive in 2018 after induced termination of a pregnancy. That brings the state total to 11 since 2016. Arizona reported 10 in 2017 and Florida had 19 such instances since 2017. Nationally, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 143 cases between 2003 and 2014 of infants born after attempted abortions, though those figures may be incomplete.

Over the past three years alone, 40 babies were born alive during failed abortions.

Abortion is not as routine and foolproof as abortionists like to portray.

Once Again, the Left Promotes Violence Toward the Right, This Time Against Rand Paul

It wasn’t but a handful of days ago that the left and the media were losing their collective minds over a year old video of Trump’s head being superimposed over a character during a scene from a violent movie. We were told that this kind of promotion of violence was inexcusable and would only promote real-life violence.

Since then, we’ve had instances of leftists promoting violence against the right, including Antifa telling a church that they’d bring out a guillotine if they played a movie about Jordan Peterson and a woman being assaulted for being pro-Trump.

If you include all the other instances of violence being overly celebrated by the left against the right, you’ll find that the pattern is that it’s okay for the left to visit harm on the right, but the right better not even joke about doing it to the left.

We can now add Bette Midler to those who hold that position.

On Wednesday, Midler became angry over Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul calling the Kurds “ingrates” for throwing refuse at American troops despite fighting to help free them from the clutches of ISIS. Midler didn’t take that well and, instead of putting up a well thought out and reasonable argument, told everyone to be thankful for Rand Paul’s violent neighbor who assaulted him.

“I DO NOT promote violence,” began Midler before she continued by promoting violence, “but… Rand Paul says the Kurds are being “ingrates” for taking their frustrations out on US troops. Which is a good reminder for us all to be more grateful for the neighbor who beat the sh*t out of Rand Paul.”

Midler is, of course, referring to the attack on Paul by his neighbor. Paul suffered six broken ribs, damage to his lungs, and two bouts of pneumonia as a result of the attack on him. Paul described the recovery as a “living hell.”

This attack and the celebration of it is just one more example of why the left shouldn’t be taken seriously when it begins hyperventilating about “violence” from the right. Between the promotion of attacks, actual attacks, and groups like Antifa that actually promote further violence, the left has no room to talk.

This is actually the second time Midler has celebrated the violence against Rand Paul. The first was in February of last year when she asked where Paul’s neighbor was after he filibustered the Senate to stop Republicans from raising spending caps.

She’s not the only celebrity that celebrated Paul’s attack. Tom Arnold has also tweeted his approval of the violence Paul suffered, and his tweet was retweeted by Rep. Ilhan Omar.

A Boomlet Builds for Retired Admiral William McRaven to Jump Into the Democrat Primary Field

FILE – In this Aug. 21, 2014, file photo, U.S. Navy Adm. William McRaven, the next chancellor of the University of Texas System, addresses the Texas Board of Regents, in Austin, Texas. McRaven is running into political problems in his role as chancellor of the University of Texas System. The retired Navy admiral who planned the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden faces an uncertain future as chancellor, as his three-year contract expires at the end of 2017. After multiple clashes with lawmakers, and a new makeup of the Board of Regents he works for, it remains an open question as to whether he will be back. McRaven is the second highest paid public university president in the nation making $1.5 million. (AP Photo/Eric Gay, File)

A week ago, retired Admiral William McRaven wrote an op-ed for the New York Times in which he loudly proclaimed that President Trump was a, in his words, danger to the republic.

These men and women, of all political persuasions, have seen the assaults on our institutions: on the intelligence and law enforcement community, the State Department and the press. They have seen our leaders stand beside despots and strongmen, preferring their government narrative to our own. They have seen us abandon our allies and have heard the shouts of betrayal from the battlefield. As I stood on the parade field at Fort Bragg, one retired four-star general, grabbed my arm, shook me and shouted, “I don’t like the Democrats, but Trump is destroying the Republic!”

Those words echoed with me throughout the week. It is easy to destroy an organization if you have no appreciation for what makes that organization great. We are not the most powerful nation in the world because of our aircraft carriers, our economy, or our seat at the United Nations Security Council. We are the most powerful nation in the world because we try to be the good guys. We are the most powerful nation in the world because our ideals of universal freedom and equality have been backed up by our belief that we were champions of justice, the protectors of the less fortunate.

But, if we don’t care about our values, if we don’t care about duty and honor, if we don’t help the weak and stand up against oppression and injustice — what will happen to the Kurds, the Iraqis, the Afghans, the Syrians, the Rohingyas, the South Sudanese and the millions of people under the boot of tyranny or left abandoned by their failing states?

If our promises are meaningless, how will our allies ever trust us? If we can’t have faith in our nation’s principles, why would the men and women of this nation join the military? And if they don’t join, who will protect us? If we are not the champions of the good and the right, then who will follow us? And if no one follows us — where will the world end up?

President Trump seems to believe that these qualities are unimportant or show weakness. He is wrong. These are the virtues that have sustained this nation for the past 243 years. If we hope to continue to lead the world and inspire a new generation of young men and women to our cause, then we must embrace these values now more than ever.

And if this president doesn’t understand their importance, if this president doesn’t demonstrate the leadership that America needs, both domestically and abroad, then it is time for a new person in the Oval Office — Republican, Democrat or independent — the sooner, the better. The fate of our Republic depends upon it.

I found the piece to be stunning in its historical illiteracy:

We were reminded that the Greatest Generation went to war because it believed that we were the good guys — that wherever there was oppression, tyranny or despotism, America would be there.

Seriously. This is utter bullsh**. The Greatest Generation went to war because it had war brought to it, first by the Japanese at Pearl Harbor and then, a few days later, by a German declaration of war against us. The Greatest Generation fought to kick ass and go home. And, on the way, we turned over half of Europe the the Soviet Union and forcibly repatriated Russians who had fought against the USSR.

And I was also shocked by the hubris and the embrace of the failed, disastrous Responsibility to Protect (R2P) strategy that kicked off a bloodbath in Libya and an international humanitarian nightmare in Syria. Will fathers and mothers be more or less likely to send their sons and (under the aegis of the flag officers of McRaven’s cohort) daughters off to random wars of feel good, or would they prefer their kid only be put in harm’s way if some easily articulated national security threat is at hand?

But, because OrangeManBad, all he had to do was to write this and he was a hero. Had a flag officer written a similar critique about Obama, and I truly think Obama did an immense amount of damage to our foreign policy and to our domestic politics, he would have been excoriated as some sort of racist.

McRaven’s op ed did not take place in a vacuum. It took place in the context of a presidential contest between an incumbent president so loathed by the left that there is literally no lie they will not tell nor any fable they will not disbelieve about him, and a field of Democrats so weak that they make the Seven Dwarfs of the Democrat 1988 field look like a gathering in the Athenian Acropolis. This is from a Politico story titled ‘Can Any of These People Beat Trump?’ (Watching the Democratic debate with a serious candidate who wasn’t invited to the party and can hardly believe what’s unfolding before his eyes.)

This, Bennet fears, is how Trump might luck into a second term. Oh, sure, the president will continue to scare moderates and independents with his erratic behavior. But Bennet wonders if Democrats might scare them even more—what with talk of seizing guns, banning fracking, guaranteeing health coverage to undocumented immigrants, raising taxes across the board, imposing political litmus tests on churches, and of course, eliminating private insurance for more than 150 million people.

“Just listen to this debate,” Bennet says, motioning toward the television. “Medicare for All shouldn’t even have made it to the debate stage. I mean, we’re a free country, and that’s fine. But of the Democrats who won in 2018, in those suburban districts, all but one person won their primary running on the public option—against candidates who supported Medicare for All. I understand this has been Bernie’s thing forever. But for some of the leading candidates to sign on to his bill gave it legitimacy. It’s just…”

He drifts off, shaking his head.

“We’re going to pick a policy we can’t even unify Democrats around, much less bring in others who could support it from the outside. Which means we’ll wind up fighting a losing battle for that instead of achieving the other stuff,” Bennet adds. “That’s not catering to the people I talk to at town halls; it’s for the people on Twitter and the people on cable news at night.”

As the debate approaches the two-hour mark, Bennet goes silent, gazing emotionlessly at the television for a prolonged stretch. Finally, I ask what’s on his mind. “I’m sitting here thinking, ‘Who can beat Trump?’” he says. “Can any of these people beat Trump?”

The combination of the weakness of the field, OrangeManBad, and the Democrat propensity so swoon and genuflect to anyone if you put enough gold braid, stars, and medals on them gets you this:

And it is sort of hard to believe this was not the intended effect of the op ed

If the Democrats want McRaven, they are entitled to him. For all of his bloviating about values, when he had a chance to actually stand up for something, he folded like a cheap suit. He had the chance to take a stand against a corrupt admissions practice of the University of Texas System, of which he was chancellor, that allowed the lackwit offspring of Texas politicians to get guaranteed enrollment. Instead, he quashed the ongoing investigation. Oh, and he was adamantly opposed to firearms on campus and very much in favor of in-state tuition for illegals. If they think his military resume is going to carry him forward, they are sadly mistaken. Any flag officer, good or bad, is going to carry a lot of baggage and have a lot of detractors with a lot of documentation.

As a friend of mine says on email:

This admixture of loud proclamation of civic virtue with corrupt and unapologetic elite self-dealing is, of course, precisely how we got Trump.

The greater problem is that McRaven has only a tangential attachment to the society he devoted his life to defending. As much as I loved my time in the Army, I’d never claim that running any military organization is remotely as complicated as dealing with a pluralistic society where 40+% of the population will oppose you out of hand, and where no decision is ever quite final.

This is mostly wishcasting and desperation, but the Democrats seem intent upon finding their Man of Horseback to usher in a Progressive Garden of Eden. None of the current field can either mount a horse, or even pick it out of a line up. McRaven just may be their man.

We have previously noted the demise of The Weekly Standard: Neo-conservative, Bill Kristol, was so consumed by hatred for President Trump that he wound up destroying the magazine he startedThe Weekly Standard — the website still exists, but there are no new articles; older articles are archived by the Washington Examiner — by making it all-#NeverTrump, all the time, alienating his readership, many of whom supported President Trump. Started in 1995 by Mr Kristol in competition with National Review and The New Republic, it was finally shut down in 2018.

Needing an outlet other than Twitter in which to spread his message, Mr Kristol and his allies began The Bulwark. Wikipedia describes it as:

an American conservative news and opinion website founded by conservative commentators Charlie Sykes and Bill Kristol. A news aggregator at first with Benjamin Parker as editor (he is currently senior editor), it was revamped into a news and opinion site with “the core digital staff of The Weekly Standard.” Like the StandardThe Bulwark has been described as neoconservative.

The Weekly Standard was a print magazine, while TheBulwark is only a website, and has much lower expenses.

Following the end of publication of The Weekly Standard in December 2018, editor-in-chief Charlie Sykes said “the murder of the Standard made it urgently necessary to create a home for rational, principled, fact-based center-right voices who were not cowed by Trumpism.” The site was created in December 2018 as a news aggregator as a project of the Defending Democracy Together Institute, a 501(c)(3) conservative advocacy group led in part by Weekly Standard co-founder William Kristol, who was a prominent voice pushing for the U.S. invasion of Iraq. Several former editors and writers of The Weekly Standard soon joined the staff and within weeks of launch began publishing original news and opinion pieces. CNN reported in January 2019 that approximately $1 million had already been raised for the site, which was said to be adequate to keep the site running for one year but that additional funding was being sought.

Thus, the opinions expressed by Sarah Longwell, Executive director of Republicans for the Rule of Law, who is also listed on the masthead as the Publisher of The Bulwark are hardly a surprise:

Sarah Longwell is the publisher of The Bulwark. She is a partner at a communications firm in Washington, D.C., and a founding director of Defending Democracy Together and the Defending Democracy Together Institute. She is a graduate of Kenyon College and lives in Washington, D.C., with her family.

She lives in Washington, DC. That, in itself, tells you much about the author, and her disconnect from that great part of America that does not lie along the Acela corridor. From The Atlantic:

Mitt Romney, It’s Time

The senator is best positioned to pry the Republican Party from President Trump’s hands.

Sarah Longwell | Executive director of Republicans for the Rule of Law | October 23, 2019 | 6:00 AM EDT

Donald Trump has never feared another elected Republican. Over the course of five years, he has bullied and insulted, mocked and complained about nearly every GOP officeholder past and present, including George W. Bush and Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Jeff Flake. He knew that the Republicans who dared to stand up to him couldn’t hurt him (Bob Corker), and that the Republicans who could have hurt him wouldn’t dare stand up to him (Paul Ryan).

All of which has led Trump to believe that there is no possible danger of the Republican Party being pried from his grasp. But Trump may at last need to rethink that calculus.

Mitt Romney’s attempt to excise Trump from his party started early. In March 2016, he became the only former Republican presidential nominee to take a public position against Trump’s candidacy. This act of resistance didn’t work, however, because while Romney had moral authority, he had no real power.

Given that two former Republican presidents, the two George Bushes, publicly opposed Mr Trump, the elder supposedly voting for Hillary Clinton and the younger reported not to have cast a ballot in the presidential race, it would seem that Mrs Longwell should have done her homework a bit better.

That situation changed this year, when Romney again became an elected official. On January 1, 2019, the newly minted Senator Romney announced his arrival in Washington with an op-ed in The Washington Post titled, “The President Shapes the Public Character of the Nation. Trump’s Character Falls Short.

After having softened his criticism of the president and even tacitly accepting his endorsement during his Senate campaign in Utah, Romney wrote:

To a great degree, a presidency shapes the public character of the nation. A president should unite us and inspire us to follow “our better angels.” A president should demonstrate the essential qualities of honesty and integrity, and elevate the national discourse with comity and mutual respect. As a nation, we have been blessed with presidents who have called on the greatness of the American spirit. With the nation so divided, resentful and angry, presidential leadership in qualities of character is indispensable. And it is in this province where the incumbent’s shortfall has been most glaring.

One would have hoped that Mrs Longwell would have had the honesty to note that Mr Romney gladly accepted Mr Trump’s invitation to interview for the position of Secretary of State, obsequiously genuflecting at the then-President-elect’s feet in hope of securing that august position, but, Alas! she did not. She did note that Mr Romney was an early opponent of Mr Trump’s candidacy.

Mrs Longwell’s theme is that Senator Romney is positioning himself to what, exactly?

Now it looks like Romney was playing the long game, waiting for a moment when there might be leverage for him not simply to annoy Trump, but to be in the jury box rendering a verdict on his presidency.

She noted that Senator Romney is relatively invulnerable: his term will not be up for election again until 2024, and he might not be interested in re-election, given that he would be 77 years old at the time. That makes the Utah carpetbagger senator the Republican with the least to lose by leading a Republican revolt in the Senate to remove President Trump from office. Former Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ), she noted, said that, if they could vote privately, there would be 35 Republican senators who would vote to remove the President.

But, of course, they don’t get to vote privately, and, according to the most recent Gallup Poll (October 1 – October 13), President Trump has an 87% job approval rating among Republicans. Where, exactly, will Mr Romney find nineteen other Republican senators who would vote to remove Mr Trump?

This is where Mrs Longwell fails. A creature of Washington, working among like-minded neo-conservatives like Mr Kristol and Max Boot,¹ it is simply outside her paradigm to comprehend that there are millions, millions! of Republicans across the country who support President Trump personally and would vote against any Republican in Congress who votes to impeach or remove him from office.

The #NeverTrumpers seem to have a personal disconnect. It seems as though Mr Kristol — to judge by his voluminous tweets — believes that if Republican voters across the fruited plain could just be made to see what kind of person Donald Trump is, they would turn against him in droves. That attitude ignores a basic truth: Republican voters knew exactly who Mr Trump was when they cast their ballots for him, know exactly what kind of man he is today, and still support him, still have every intention of voting for him 12½ months from now.

Let’s face it: Mr Trump is an [insert slang term for the rectum here], and everybody knows it. But it seems that Republicans and conservatives want an [insert slang term for the rectum here] as President, at least when contrasted with former Republican Presidents who shied away from too many fights against the Democrats. We may not like Mr Trump’s personal foibles, his callous disregard for the truth, his thrice-married womanizing, and his seeming inability to work with even the people in his administration, but we do like most of his policies.

And in the end, that’s what really matters. That Mr Trump might be an obnoxious human being doesn’t mean much to me, because I have never met the man, and the odds that I ever will are vanishingly small. His character and personal life have absolutely nothing to do with me.

But his policies affect every American. His continual lowering of admission of refugee targets, his increased enforcement of our immigration laws, his getting taxes cut, his (too slow) withdrawal of American troops from Middle Eastern quagmires, his cancelling of so many of President Obama’s executive orders, his banning of ‘transgender’ people from the armed services, his pro-business, and pro-American business policies, his support for the American energy industry, his appointment of conservative judges, and his resistance to the cockamamie agenda of the homosexual and transgender groups, these are the things which are of real importance to most Americans outside of the blue-state east coast corridor.

If some form of ‘Green New Deal’ is passed, people like Mr Kristol won’t be terribly bothered; he is a millionaire, and if his electricity bill goes up $35 a month, he won’t even notice. It’s the people who work in the factories and on the farms, the ones to whom a $35 increase in their electric bills means $35 less that they have to spend on something they really want, who will care. President Trump will (probably) resist any such legislation, while all of the Democrats are proposing their own versions of such.

The #NeverTrumpers among The Bulwark would have had a few bad things to say about the President’s policies, if the President were shudder! Hillary Clinton, but not that many. They might have criticized the clumsiness of her foreign policies, but not its goals. They’d have mostly applauded her promised increases in the number of refugees admitted into this country, with perhaps, only perhaps, some slight criticism of her leaving our southern border open to a wave of illegal immigrants. They’d have been silent, at best, if not openly supportive of her moves to normalize transgenderism, and said nary a cross word about her judicial picks. They’d have supported her desire for higher rather than lower taxes.² And they’d have approved her continued executive findings that it was not the right time to move our embassy from tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

The neo-conservatives have accomplished two things: they have proven that their brand of conservatism is not conservative at all, and they have demonstrated for us all that they simply do not understand the people in their own country. The House of Representatives may impeach President Trump, because the Democrats do not need a single Republican vote to do so, but it would require the votes of twenty Republicans in the Senate to remove him from office. Perhaps if Mr Romney had run a better campaign himself in 2012, he’d be President today, instead of being so consumed with hatred for the man who proved himself to be a better candidate, and a bigger man.

¹ – We have previously noted Mr Boot’s own words, here and here, in which he noted that he was “pro-LGBTQ rights, pro-abortion rights, pro-immigration,” “think(s) that climate change is a major threat that we need to address” and is very worried about his white and male privilege. His views fit within conservatism on only a few things. His ‘neo-conservatism’ isn’t very conservative at all.
² – Full disclosure: I stated that I would support tax cuts only after spending cuts had been made.

Video Surfaces of “Trans” Child from Texas Custody Battle Saying His Mother Tells Him He’s a Girl

Westlake Legal Group Capture Video Surfaces of “Trans” Child from Texas Custody Battle Saying His Mother Tells Him He’s a Girl transgender Texas Masucline LGBT Jeff Younger james younger Greg Abbott Gender Issues Front Page Stories Feminine Featured Story custody battle child abuse child boy Anne Georgulas Allow Media Exception

The case of James Younger, a seven-year-old boy from Texas who was recently the central figure in a custody battle between a father trying to protect his son from an abusive mother has now taken a much larger spotlight on the national stage.

The case revolves around James’s supposed decision to be a transgender girl. The father, Jeff Younger, maintains that James prefers to be a boy and only seems to act as if he wants to be feminine around his mother, Anne Georgulas, and that these thoughts of transgenderism are a direct result of his mother’s influence.

A video has now come into public light where you can see the father asking James questions about whether or not he’s a girl or a boy. The child answers that he is a girl because his mother told him so.

“You’re a boy, right?” asks Younger.

“No, I’m a girl,” replies James.

“Who told you you’re a girl?” asks  Younger.

“Mommy,” said James.

The father continued to ask questions of his young son about his preferences, including how “mommy puts you in a dress and puts nail polish on you?” The son answers in the affirmative, noting that his mother buys him dresses, hairbands, and hairclips, and that he likes nail polish.

“And what does mommy tell you?” asks the father.

“She tells me I’m a girl,” replies James.

“My three-year-old son tells me — he’s at my home — he tells me that he’s a girl. And I had the presence of mind, thank goodness, to pull out my iPhone and videotape me asking him about that. And that was literally the first time that I really understood what was happening to my son,” Younger said on the “The Luke Macias Show” during an interview about the video.

“That was the first time I noticed. He was just past his third birthday,” he added.

Younger believed that his ex-wife, Anne Georgulas, was “only giving [James] love and affection if he acted like a girl,” and “was putting my son into time-outs and she would lock him in his room and say that monsters only eat boys.”

The court, in an 11 to 12 jury decision, has given Georgulas sole managing conservatorship of James and his twin brother Jude, and is now forcing the father to affirm James’s status as a transgendered person. When around James, Younger must refer to him as “Luna” with feminine pronouns.

Though Younger lost the battle to the mother, things are starting to heat up thanks to the nature of the case. The child believes he is transgender due to the mother’s influence, though the father informs the public that when he is out of his mother’s care, James is all boy in both dress and actions.

“James violently refuses to wear girl’s clothes at my home,” said Younger.

Other instances where James has exhibited preferences for being male pop up everywhere from being with friends to testimony from his own transition therapist.

The transition therapist, for instance, observed that James is oddly inconsistent when it comes to wanting to be “Luna.” At ont point, James was presented with two pieces of paper, one with the word “James” and one with the word “Luna,” and asked to pick the name he preferred. When in the presence of his mother, he chose “Luna.” When in the presence of his father, he chose “James.”

Others have been eyewitnesses to James’s boyish behavior, including Bill Lovell, the senior pastor of Christ Church Carrollton and a family friend, Ellen Grigsby. The latter of whom said that when she takes care of him away from his parents influence, he acts naturally like a boy.

The case has many oddities attached to it. It’s odd enough, in fact, that Texas Governor Greg Abbott has now entered the fray himself and is sending Child Protective Services to investigate the matter further.

NYC Bar Association Demands AG Barr Recuse Himself from Ukraine Probe; Let’s See if Rod Rosenstein is Available to Take Over

U.S. Attorney General William Barr listens to concerns raised about public safety in rural Alaska during at a roundtable discussion at the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, in Anchorage, Alaska. Barr did not take questions from reporters in his first public appearance after former special prosecutor Robert Mueller spoke to reporters after resigning at the completion of his report into Russian interference into the 2016 election. Why it’s almost as if history were repeating itself. The New York City Bar Association has demanded that Attorney General William Barr recuse himself from the DOJ investigation into the July 25th telephone call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Bar Association issued a statement on Wednesday which began:

The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) has a unique role in safeguarding the rule of law under the Constitution. By failing to recuse himself from DOJ’s review of the Ukraine Matter, Attorney General William P. Barr has undermined that role. To help remedy that failure, the New York City Bar Association urges that Mr. Barr recuse himself from any ongoing or future review by DOJ of Ukraine-related issues in which Mr. Barr is allegedly involved. If he fails to do so, he should resign or, failing that, be subject to sanctions, including possible removal, by Congress.

The statement reminded Barr of a statement he’d made during his nomination process. He had said, “The American people have to know that there are places in the government where the rule of law, not politics, holds sway and where they will be treated fairly based solely on the facts and the evenhanded application of the law. The Department of Justice must be that place.”

(Because Congress surely is not.)

It states that Barr “appears to have participated in the DOJ review of the whistleblower’s complaint and its decision not to forward that complaint to Congress…This is a serious violation of his obligation to protect the DOJ from reasonable questions as to its impartiality in the investigation of the Ukraine Matter.”

And it concludes with, “We hope that Mr. Barr will act promptly to remedy, at least in part, his prior failure to recuse himself from the Ukraine Matter. If, however, he chooses not to do so, we believe he must resign his position as Attorney General.”

The officers of the NYC Bar Association must think American voters are among the stupidest people in the world. They would like to see history repeat itself. ‘If we can force AG Barr to recuse himself just as his predecessor, Jeff Sessions, did in the Russia probe, we just might get Trump this time.’

Sessions fateful recusal paved the way for Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to take over. The incredibly conflicted Rosenstein made the inappropriate decision to appoint a Special Counsel to investigate the President’s possible collusion with Russia followed by his obstruction of justice to end it.

You may recall that President Trump had asked Rosenstein to prepare a memo which listed the reasons why then-FBI Director James Comey should be fired. After Trump had fired Comey, he released this memo and the backlash against Rosenstein was fierce. In a highly emotional state and desperately wanting to redeem himself in the eyes of the deep state, he struck back at the President with his announcement that he had appointed a Special Counsel. Rosenstein’s ill-conceived decision put the President and the country through the agony of the Mueller probe.

After it became clear that Mueller wasn’t able to deliver the goods and hellbent on finding something new with which to destroy Trump, Democrats seized upon the July 25th Trump/Zelensky telephone call.

The officers of the NYC Bar Association are very much creatures of the deep state. And their call for AG Barr to recuse himself is a purely political act.

Faced with the imminent exposure of the massive fraud they planned and executed against first candidate Donald Trump and then President Trump, Democrats have weaponized all of the resources at their disposal to prevent it.

They were especially spooked by last weekend’s news that, based on new evidence, Barr and U.S. Attorney John Durham have added staff and expanded their investigation of the origins of Spygate. Durham is closing in on the truth and they are feeling the heat.

The issues raised in the NYC Bar Association’s statement would more appropriately apply to the House Democrats latest gambit to impeach President Trump based on the Zelensky call.

Adhering to the standards they cite in their statement, Adam Schiff should recuse himself from leading the “impeachment inquiry.” After all, his staffers met with the whistleblower before he submitted his complaint to the Intelligence Community Inspector General. Wouldn’t that make Adam Schiff a fact witness? Additionally, Schiff’s intense and obvious hatred towards the President kind of blows up the “impartiality” requirement. In the same way, Rod Rosenstein should have recused himself from oversight of the Mueller investigation. He participated in the Oval Office meeting where Comey’s firing was discussed. He even wrote the memo making the case for why he should be fired. Would that not make Rosenstein a witness in the case? And although we didn’t know it at the time, Rosenstein, as part of his idea to remove the President from office via the 25th Amendment, even discussed wearing a wire into the Oval Office to record the President. He said he was never checked when he entered the White House.

Their hypocrisy is breathtaking.

Their behavior has been so extreme, it brings to mind the story of Sen. Joe McCarthy (R-WI) whose attempt to rid the government of communists in the late 1940s and early 1950s, justified in the beginning, developed into a dangerous obsession. He became consumed by it. His actions became more and more ruthless and unhinged over the years.

During the spectacle of the Army-McCarthy hearings, McCarthy questioned Boston lawyer Joseph Welch, whom the Army had hired for their defense. After an unreasonable line of questioning about a lawyer who worked for his law firm:

Welch responded with the immortal lines that ultimately ended McCarthy’s career: “Until this moment, Senator, I think I never really gauged your cruelty or your recklessness.” When McCarthy tried to continue his attack, Welch angrily interrupted, “Let us not assassinate this lad further, senator. You have done enough. Have you no sense of decency?”

Have the Democrats no sense of decency?

Texts Reveal Concern About Katie Hill Drinking, Missing Flights

In the four-part Vice documentary, “She’s Running,” which chronicled Rep. Katie Hill’s 2018 campaign, Hill and her staffers are often shown grabbing a drink, and the campaign headquarters featured an impressive “liquor” closet.

When Hill arrived in Washington, D.C., celebratory beverages continued to be a part of her life.

‪Getting people back to work is what I was always fighting for — and I'm glad the President did that today. I look…

Posted by Katie Hill for Congress on Friday, January 25, 2019

In text messages provided to RedState of conversations between Hill, her estranged husband, and their former throuple partner, by June 2018 all three were expressing concern about Hill’s drinking and its impact on her mental health and work performance.

During the last week of May, Hill was at home in the 25th District for Memorial Day events and visiting constituents before heading up to San Francisco to attend the California Democratic Party convention. Over the course of that week, Hill told Heslep and her female staffer that she wanted to end the throuple relationship to focus on “this important work” of impeaching President Trump.

At the convention, Hill was one of the main speakers and also had a big reason to celebrate – her friend Rusty Hicks was elected as party chair (after Eric Baumann was forced out amid sexual assault charges).

Kenny Heslep, Hill’s husband, didn’t accompany her to the convention, but the two were texting throughout the weekend. The following text exchange occurred during the late night/early morning hours of May 31-June 1, 2019.

Hill said:

Yup! Celebrating Rusty winning with some people at a tiki bar.

Heslep replied:

Great. So getting hammered again? Should I just say goodnight now?

Hill said:

Hammered no, but continuing to drink yea.

The next screenshot reveals that Hill didn’t return to her room until after 3:30 a.m., and she admitted to Heslep that she’s drunk.

She said:

I’m sorry babe. I just got back. And yeah, I’m drunk. I’ve been talking to Lydia about that. I love you. You will always be my stinker.

The Lydia to which Hill is referring is her psychiatrist. Heslep asks if Hill was talking to Lydia about the split-up. Hill replies:

And no, about drinking and everything.

Hill tells Heslep that she doesn’t know where she’d been precisely, but in general to bars and a Mexican late night restaurant. She reiterates that she had been talking to Lydia “about drinking a lot.”

On June 3rd, the female staffer confronted Rep. Hill about her drinking and reveals that Hill missed her flight and hid that fact from Kenny.

The first portion of this message was published in an earlier story.

The staffer tells Hill:

I am very worried about your partying this weekend. After Friday night it was a red flag but…then you were out until 3, clearly from the misspelled text [were] very drunk, and it [a]ffected your work by missing your plane (a fact you hid from Kenny just making it even more clear something is going on. I am worried about you babe.”

According to the messages reviewed, Hill didn’t reply to the staffer that day. About a week later, the staffer and Heslep are discussing a dinner attended by Hill, Heslep, the staffer, and members of the staffer’s family, who apparently knew about the polyamorous relationship.

Referencing her family, the staffer says:

She said it’s really hard to be with someone with mental illness. She also said they both felt something was off at the dinner.

Heslep replies:

Yarp. And what did they say was off?

The staffer says:

They just said it felt off somehow

Heslep replies:

Maybe like the bottle and a half that she drank? Lol

Just a few days later – the day after her wedding anniversary – Hill missed another flight between Washington, D.C., and California, as a staffer named Cat told Hill’s throuple partner. Heslep asks, “Does anyone find it odd how many she’s been missing lately?”

In addition to the text messages reviewed by RedState about Hill’s alcohol use, an elected official from a jurisdiction in Hill’s district told RedState on condition of anonymity that Hill was observed at a local event in mid-July visibly intoxicated, and that one of Hill’s staffers pulled Hill aside, saying, “We need to leave. You shouldn’t be here right now.” Hill then left the event without incident.

Like millions of Americans, Rep. Hill has been open about the fact that she lives with depression, as she tweeted on October 10th.

In addition to regular appointments with her psychologist, Hill sometimes takes the prescription medication trazodone to manage manic episodes, according to the text messages. Mixing trazodone with alcohol is extremely dangerous.

Mixing trazodone with alcohol can increase levels of intoxication—resulting in extreme drowsiness and increasing the risk of overdose and death when either are consumed in excessive amounts. Long-term use of both substances can also lead to physical dependence and withdrawal.

Shortly after Hill arrived in Washington D.C., Heslep was concerned about Hill becoming manic, and Hill admitted that she thought he was right about the mania and that she “should have recognized it sooner.”

Serving as a Member of Congress, especially when one’s district is at least a five-hour flight from Washington, D.C., is grueling even under the best of circumstances. When one is dealing with a troubled marriage and living with depression, the job is even more challenging. Hopefully, Rep. Hill can take the time and space she needs to deal with the serious issues she is facing and emerge stronger and healthier in every way.
