Joe Cunningham: Yes, We Identify With “Joker” and He Could Inspire More Villain Movies

Westlake Legal Group Joaquin-Phoenix-Joker-620x349 Joe Cunningham: Yes, We Identify With “Joker” and He Could Inspire More Villain Movies Movies Media Joker Hollywood Front Page Stories Featured Story Culture comics cinema batman Allow Media Exception

The weekend success of the Todd Phillips movie Joker has Warner Bros. and Hollywood thinking that more movies based on villains could be the way to go. In fact, it might just be the thing that saves Warner Bros. and DC’s otherwise disastrous run on comic book movies.

Other than the success of Wonder Woman and (to a much lesser extent) Aquaman, DC’s comic book movie universe just hasn’t been stellar. Joker proved that there is still cinematic interest in their properties, but a shared universe in the style of Marvel’s might not be the path for them.

Along with Phillips’ own talk of a possible sequel to the story of Arthur Fleck and his transformation into The Joker, a report popped up on Wednesday suggesting that a movie about another Batman villain, Two-Face, is being considered.

Two-Face has been on the big screen twice already – once by Tommy Lee Jones in Batman Forever and once by Aaron Eckhart in The Dark Knight – so it wouldn’t be an entirely new premise to see him in a movie. However, Two-Face and Batman are so woven together that any movie centered on him as the main character wouldn’t be as Batman-free as Joker was (and even then, a not-so-small part of Joker very much had to involve Batman in the form of young Bruce Wayne).

It would be possible, mind you, but you’d need to invent a reason for Batman to not be there, and you’d also have to make sure you’re not writing another Catwoman – arguably the worst comic book movie of all time.

What is interesting about all this, however, is that many of the villains in DC – especially Batman’s rogue’s gallery – are just as compelling as (if not more than) the heroes. What draws people to The Joker is the fact that he is Chaos personified. It isn’t just the insanity, but how it manifests. It’s a trainwreck we can’t look away from and becomes more horrifying as time goes on.

Two-Face is another example of this. He was a force for good until his face was disfigured and drew out  a split personality. He is constantly at war with himself over right and wrong, and leaves the final decision up to fate – all at the extreme end of choices we have to make every day.

Deadpool, though not quite a villain (yet certainly not a hero), is fascinating because he is a parody of the genre, yet not at the same time. Venom compelled us because we all recognize Spider-Man and see just how quickly those powers can shift from one end of the moral spectrum to the other.

Harley Quinn, featured in Suicide Squad and the upcoming Birds of Prey, is another example of the fascination we have with the dark side. She wasn’t even created in the comics, but was so popular in the ’90s animated Batman series that the comics quickly added her into their stories as well. People were drawn to the former psychiatrist drawn into the insane world of The Joker because we all know what it’s like to be close to the edge, and many of us know what it’s like to be drawn to the wrong crowd.

There is something very human, though admittedly very extreme in their flaws, about these villains, and the way their stories could be told on the big screen could draw us further into identifying with those flaws. It’s not worship of the violence or insanity, as many in the media have tried to explain the success of Joker by claiming, but rather an introspective look at ourselves and seeing ourselves in these flawed individuals and (sometimes) just how close we are to relating to their plight.

I would welcome more villains on-screen getting their stories told… though, given DC’s and the Warner Bros. studio’s records, we’re gonna have to make sure they are written by people who actually know comics.

Nunes Reveals Multiple US Journalists May Have Been Monitored by Government, John Solomon Says He Has Info He May Have Been

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) dropped interesting information during an interview on “Hannity” on Wednesday night.

Nunes said that he was aware that the former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch, who had been appointed under Barack Obama and who was relieved of her duties in May, made “strange” and “irregular” requests to monitor U.S. journalists while they were in Ukraine.

Yovanovitch was asked to appear before Congress as part of the Democratic efforts to find something to impeach President Donald Trump over on Ukraine. It’s not clear if she will testify given the administrations’s stance on the inquiry. Yovanovitch is still employed by the State Department.

From Fox News:

“What I’ve heard — and I want to be clear — there’s a difference. What I’ve heard is that there were strange requests, irregular requests to monitor not just one journalist, but multiple journalists,” Nunes told host Sean Hannity. “Now perhaps that was OK. Perhaps there was some reason for that — that it can be explained away. But that’s what we know and that’s what we’re going to be looking into.”

Hannity said multiple sources have told him they “believe there is evidence that government resources were used to monitor communications” of U.S. journalists and that Yovanovitch may have been involved. Nunes noted that if the State Department had conducted surveillance over press activity in the Ukraine, it may have been done properly.

Nunes said that they were inquiring of the State Department what this was all about and trying to get to the bottom of it.

Journalist John Solomon also appeared on “Hannity” and said he has received information from the intelligence community that his communications may have been monitored inappropriately. He said he’s still looking into it. It’s not clear if his information is related to the alleged requests from the Ambassador. Solomon has been doing a lot of coverage of Ukraine, particularly of the Biden/Burisma question. He is now working for Fox.

The Obama administration had a history of spying on the media including the AP and Fox News James Rosen.

From Washington Examiner:

In 2013, the Obama Justice Department labeled then-Fox News reporter James Rosen a “criminal co-conspirator” under the Espionage Act of 1917. And all because the reporter used a State Department contractor as a source for a story. Rosen was also labeled a “flight risk.”

The Justice Department seized the records of at least five phone lines connected to Fox News. The federal law enforcement agency even seized the phone records of Rosen’s parents. The FBI also got a warrant to search Rosen’s emails from 2010.

In May 2013, the Associated Press revealed that the Justice Department had secretly collected two months’ worth of personal and work-related phone calls made by AP reporters and editors.

Federal officials secretly obtained records on incoming and outgoing calls made by specific AP journalists, as well as general news staff, the news group reported, potentially compromising many sources totally unrelated to the investigation. Federal investigators even collected data on calls made by AP reporters in the House of Representatives press gallery.

And we didn’t talk about impeachment then?

Journalist Sharyl Attkisson, who says she too was monitored by the Obama administration, weighed in on these new reports.

In Response to Blizzard Caving to China, Gamers Are Getting Back at the Company in an Ingenious Way

The gaming community isn’t taking Blizzard’s continuous bowing to China well, and they’re right not to. An American company doing everything it can to appease a totalitarian government overseas isn’t something many customers can get behind.

It all started when one of their championship players made comments that put him in solidarity with the Hong Kong protesters. Blizzard responded by banning the player, taking all his prize money away, and even firing the two announcers who were interviewing him.

(READ: Blizzard Entertainment Suspends Player From Championships After He Voices Support For Hong Kong Protests)

This caused a massive backlash against the gaming company from its own fan base, but the gaming community has taken to getting even over getting angry.

A plan was hatched on Reddit’s subreddit r/HongKong to make the character Mei-Ling from the game Overwatch become a pro-Hong Kong protester by photoshopping and drawing the character in various ways that promote the protests. In this way, China would be forced to ban the game from the country, and possibly Blizzard itself.

Sure enough, many fans of the game and those in favor of the Hong Kong protesters got to work turning Mei into a “Free Hong Kong” symbol and the results have been amazing.

If this does catch on in a big way, then Blizzard may find themselves between a rock and a hard place. China’s iron grip on censorship within the country is quick with banning certain images and characters if they lend to the disrespect of the government or its leaders.

For instance, Winnie the Pooh is banned completely from Chinese media as many have compared Chinese President Xi Jinping to the Disney character in appearance.

South Park was also recently banned from China and all mention of the show wiped from its internet after the show criticized China’s censorship and American corporation’s willingness to be censored in order to stay in its markets.

(READ: South Park Doubles Down On Its Anti-China Stance For Its 300th Episode)

Gamers forcing the hand of Blizzard and China may result in some serious fallout for Blizzard, and if they succeed then the rest of the public will have a template by which to punish companies that cave to communist governments.

Arbitration is a Better Approach to Stop Surprise Medical Billing

Westlake Legal Group healthcare-620x414 Arbitration is a Better Approach to Stop Surprise Medical Billing Surprise Medical Billing Health Care Front Page Stories Allow Media Exception

Here is the problem: Many Americans who have health insurance to pay for expensive healthcare are doing the responsible thing.

They check to make sure the hospital or other medical facility that they want to use is “in network,” meaning that its costs are covered by insurance, by well-known co-pays, and by agreed-upon deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums. They are following the rules of the game and they are getting unexpected and unjust “surprise” bills anyway.

This feels like cheating to them, and it is.

American patients are informed, after the fact, that while the facility they used was “in network,” somehow one or more of their providers was “out of network” and the patients were subject to unexpected higher charges the patients are unfairly required to pay.

This surprise medical billing has stung a lot of Americans. According to one study by Stanford University, nearly 40 percent of American patients say they’ve suffered from unexpected, out-of-network bills. That is not a small percentage. It simply shows that the current system is rigged against the patients and needs to be fixed.

One proposed solution for how to do that is called benchmarking. It is not a good idea. As we have explained here, benchmarking would give the federal government final authority to set and impose medical rates across the country. Washington, D.C. bureaucrats would be charged with determining rates for physicians across the country:

It would ignore the fact that the cost and level of difficulty for performing health care services and treatments varies greatly by region and facility. By setting artificially lower-than-market rates for these services, doctors would be short-changed for the invaluable services they provide. These losses would simply be passed on to our nation’s hospitals and emergency rooms — threatening the financial stability of rural health care facilities in particular.

As David Williams of the Taxpayers Protection Alliance explained and we reported here, benchmarking amounts to price controls and would reward the more politically connected, larger parts of the health care industry while hurting those parts of the industry without much clout. This would be a national healthcare nightmare.

If the choices were only the current surprise billing system or benchmarking, it almost might be worth sticking with the devil we know.

Fortunately, those aren’t the only two options. Indeed, the notion that the solutions are either benchmarking or throwing up our hands is a false dichotomy — where you say there are only two choices as a way of swaying people, when there are really other options that could be more appealing.

There is another solution to this problem, one that would force insurance companies and medical providers to haggle it out and not bill hapless patients for the insurance companies and medical providers refusal to come to terms. This approach has already been tried in New York and it worked well.

Linda Lacewell, superintendent of the New York State Department of Financial Services explained in the New York Daily News:

From its implementation in March of 2015 through the end of 2018, the Out of Network Law has saved New Yorkers more than $400 million in emergency services alone, reduced out-of-network billing in New York by 34%, and lowered in-network emergency physician payments by 9%.

That same basic approach has been drafted into a bill with bipartisan support called the Stopping the Outrageous Practice of Surprise Medical Bills Act of 2019. It would keep the government out of the price setting game and would instead force insurance companies and out-of-network doctors into binding arbitration to settle the bills and leave the poor patients be.

The two would try to work something out and only when there was an absolute failure to come to terms would an arbitrator impose a settlement, on a case by case basis. The uncertainty of what the arbitrator would do is a strong incentive for each side to settle and stop making this the patient’s problem.

The STOP Surprise Medical Bills Act is a better solution to the surprise medical billing.

As a writer, sometimes the struggle is real when it comes to choosing the right words to use to express the anger/frustration/and or outrage you feel over certain hot button issues.

It is in those times that I’ve often found that the satirists at the Babylon Bee will swoop and and save the day with the perfect take.

Such was the case this week with the controversy surrounding the NBA’s despicable China pandering in the aftermath of the Daryl Morey Hong Kong tweet controversy. As a result of NBA Commissioner Adam Silver acting stupidly, fans are getting kicked out of games now for expressing support for Hong Kong protesters. Journalists are being censored for asking questions to NBA teams about the issue.

The NBA has fancied itself for some time now as the “wokest” of all major sports leagues, in spite of the fact that their rules prevent players from doing what former NFL QB Colin Kaepernick and other players have done in the NFL by way of kneeling during the national anthem.

Players have gotten around the no-kneel rule by standing with their arms linked together, which is allowed under league rules. Many of them don’t even pay attention as the anthem is being played.

It is perhaps with that in mind that the Babylon Bee published their piece on the NBA’s “new” anthem “requirements” for players on Wednesday:

NEW YORK, NY—In an effort to salvage its relationship with China, the NBA is now requiring all players to stand for the Chinese national anthem at the beginning of every game.

The official song of the People’s Republic of China, “March of the Volunteers,” will be played at the start of all professional basketball games, whether at home or abroad.
[…]
“We hope this gesture of goodwill will show China that we love them and there is no need for our multi-billion-dollar deal to fall through,” said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. “March on, Mao!”

Brit Hume quipped that he had almost forgotten that the Bee was a satire site when reading the piece:

Indeed.

Louisiana is a strange and mysterious place. In the last few months, I’ve covered stories of a lady biting a camel in the scrotum and a woman having no idea how that bag of meth got in her vagina.

For those of you who subscribe to cisgenderism, now it’s time for the men to take a turn.

And our male avatar is none other than Damont Meredith, 21, of Gretna.

On Sunday, September 29th, Damont was shot at.

By a 28-year-old female.

Thankfully, someone who heard gunfire called 911.

At about 11:10 p.m.

As reported by Nola.com, Sheriff’s deputies showed up and asked him to recount the details.

He told them he’d been fired upon at a nearby crime scene. He offered to take them there.

Declining his offer, cops followed his directions to the 1000 block of Dimarco Drive, in Marrero.

But as they neared, 911 received yet another call, this time from a woman claiming to have just been robbed at gunpoint.

As she described the assailant — who shot at her while he was fleeing…and at whom, she also shot in retaliation — the officers realized she was detailing the appearance of Damont.

They went back to him, and he denied any wrongdoing.

But the lady gave a positive ID.

Clearly, in telling police where the crime had occurred — and, therefore, where to find the victim — Damont had failed to consider the fact that he was the robber.

He also, evidently, wanted law enforcement to catch who’d been shooting at him.

Even though he’d shot at them first.

After having robbed them.

On charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault with a firearm, Damont was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center.

On Tuesday, he was still there.

No word on whether his continuing stay was due to legal necessity or he just hadn’t yet figured his way out of the building.

-ALEX

Trump Blasts NBA Coaches for Silence, “Pandering” to China

Screenshot from this video

President Donald Trump is now offering his opinion on the controversy surrounding the NBA and China. And he has a few things to say about the NBA coaches who are reluctant to criticize China.

The NBA, along with other American entities, has been kowtowing to China, shutting down speech that might be critical of China in relation to the protests for freedom in Hong Kong.

Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey kicked off the media attention to the problem when he tweeted support for the Hong Kong protesters and was then dunked on by the NBA.

After the Chinese expressed their displeasure at Morey’s comments, the NBA apologized for having “offended” the Chinese and Morey was forced to apologize.

After getting a lot of blowback from Americans for that posture, Adam Silver, the NBA commissioner tried to clean it up with later statements, but it didn’t seem to quell the storm.

Asked about the controversy on Monday, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, who’s freely offered his liberal opinion in the past attacking Trump for not showing “leadership,” refused to weigh in. “It’s a really bizarre story,” Kerr said. “A lot of us don’t know what to make of it. I’m not going to comment further.”

Really? Likely the Hong Kongers, Uighurs, and other people being abused by China could enlighten you.

The San Antonio Spurs coach, Gregg Popovich, also refused to condemn China but defended Silver’s response saying he, Silver, stood up for “freedom of speech.” Then Popovich used the media attention to go after Trump.

From Daily Wire:

“[Silver has] been a heck of a leader in that respect and very courageous,” he said. “Then you compare it to what we’ve had to live through the past three years, it’s a big difference. A big gap there, leadership-wise and courage-wise. It wasn’t easy for him to say. He said that in an environment fraught with possible economic peril. But he sided with the principles that we all hold dearly, or most of us did until the last three years. I’m thrilled with what he said. The courage and leadership displayed is off the charts by comparison.”

Trump responded when media asked him about the controversy.

“I watch this guy Steve Kerr and he was like a little boy, he was so scared to be answering the question. He wouldn’t even answer the question — he was shaking, ‘Oh, oh, oh, I don’t know. I don’t know.’”

“He didn’t know how to answer the question, and yet he’ll talk about the United States very badly,” Trump added. As for Popovich, Trump said, “sort of the same thing, but he didn’t look quite as scared actually.”

Overall, he said, “they talk badly about the United States, but when [they talk] about China, they don’t want to say anything bad.”

“I watch the way that Kerr and Popovich and some of the others were pandering to China, and yet to our own country, it’s like they don’t respect it. It’s like they don’t respect it,” Trump concluded. “I said, ‘What a difference — isn’t it sad?’ It’s very sad. To me, it’s very sad.”

Good for Trump.

Yes, the NBA can lose money if they offend China. But they can lose a lot more if they offend Americans and American values. And in the question of “Is it better to be right or to sell out?” it’s better to be right.

Ukrainian MP Reports Biden Received $900K from Burisma for Lobbying Activities; Update: Solomon Disagrees

A Ukrainian member of parliament held a press conference on Wednesday at Interfax-Ukraine’s press center in Kiev and made a rather startling announcement.

MP Andriy Derkach told reporters that former Vice President Joe Biden had received $900,000 for lobbying activities from Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian natural gas company founded and owned by Mykola Zlochevsky. The notation on the funds transfer allegedly said, “for consultative services.”

Derkach revealed documents which “describe the mechanism of getting money by Biden, Sr.” He said:

This was the transfer of Burisma Group’s funds for lobbying activities, as investigators believe, personally to Joe Biden through a lobbying company. Funds in the amount of $900,000 were transferred to the U.S.-based company Rosemont Seneca Partners, which according to open sources, in particular, the New York Times, is affiliated with Biden. The payment reference was payment for consultative services.

Rosemont Seneca Partners is the company owned by Hunter Biden and his business partner Devon Archer. It’s inaccurate to say it is affiliated with Biden.

According to the Interfax release, Derkach also announced funds that had been transferred to others, specifically the former vice president’s son, Hunter Biden.

According to the documents, Burisma paid no less than $16.5 million to [former Polish President, who became an independent director at Burisma Holdings in 2014] Aleksander Kwasniewski, [chairman of the Burisma board of independent directors] Alan Apter, [Burisma independent director] Devon Archer and Hunter Biden [who joined the Burisma board of directors in 2014].

Using political and economic levelers of influencing Ukrainian authorities and manipulating the issue of providing financial aid to Ukraine, Joe Biden actively assisted closing criminal cases into the activity of former Ukrainian Ecology Minister Mykola Zlochevsky, who is the founder and owner of Burisma Group.

Biden’s fifth visit to Kyiv on December 7-8, 2015 was devoted to making a decision on the resignation of [then Ukrainian Prosecutor General] Viktor Shokin over the case of Zlochevsky and Burisma. Loan guarantees worth $1 billion that the United States was to give to Ukraine was the point of pressure. Biden himself admitted exerting pressure in his speech at the Council of Foreign Relations in January 2018, calling Shokin ‘son of a bitch who was fired.’

The timeline of events proves that the U.S. linked the Zlochevsky case to loan guarantees.

After the decree dismissing Shokin was published on April 3, 2016, the governments of the United States and Ukraine signed a loan guarantee agreement worth $1 billion, several months later, on June 3.

In this case, there are facts should be subject to investigation. There is an agency that has powers to investigate them; the U.S. Department of Justice. If the Ukrainian Prosecutor General signs documents and send them to U.S. Department of Justice without any requests, he will accomplish his mission.

Considering international corruption in public is a way-out for President Zelensky. I am certain that he is not involved in international corruption.

Derkach told reporters he is creating a “parliamentary investigative commission and has already requested launching a criminal case against Ukrainian officials into interference into U.S. elections.” He also stated that a court hearing was scheduled for October 21st.

Ukraine is well-known for its corruption and it’s naive to take anything one hears from their media and even members of the Ukrainian government at face value.

It sounds rather incredible that Joe Biden himself would become involved in such a shady deal. He is on tape threatening to withhold U.S. aid unless Shokin was fired. We have evidence of that. Biden denies he wanted Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin fired because he was about to question his son. Rather, he claims that Shokin was corrupt.

But accepting funds from a foreign corporation, or any corporation, sounds a little over the top, especially given the tremendous risks associated with it. Would Biden gamble his reputation and his future on a payment of $900,000? It seems unlikely.

On the other hand, why would a member of parliament make a completely unwarranted accusation against a former U.S. Vice President?

In the meantime, Rudy Giuliani discussed this story on “Hannity” last night. Predictably, he appeared to find the accusation to be somewhat credible. Here’s what he told Sean:

Let me tell you who Mykola Zlochevsky is. He’s a major oligarch. He stole $5 billion from his people. He very suspiciously was allowed to come back [to Ukraine]. His case got dismissed when they dismissed Hunter Biden’s case [involving Burisma]…He the one who paid the $16.5 million and the $900,000…It wasn’t $16.5, it was more like $8 million to the Biden group. This guy’s one of the major criminals in the Ukraine and he’s now walking around free because Joe Biden got the case dismissed.

This gentleman has said that this information should be turned over to the Justice Department. And for their own purposes, they should investigate it. I’m going to tell you why Sean. Because they suspect that the President of the Ukraine received a very major bribe in order to tank this case.

I’m not saying Biden was involved in that bribe, but it was the only thing he wasn’t involved in.

This case stinks. They can run away from it all they want.

Bisexual Rep. Katie Hill Allegedly Left Her Husband for Her (Male) Finance Director

This June 2018 photo provided by the Katie Hill Campaign shows Katie Hill on her ranch in Agua Dulce, Calif. Hill running as a Democrat wants to advance her party’s plans to take control of the House by replacing Rep. Steve Knight, who’s seeking a third term in what’s become a lonely GOP outpost , the last Republican-held House seat in strongly Democratic Los Angeles County. A story in Metro Weekly covering a resolution introduced by Rep. Mike Quigley (D-IL) and Rep. Katie Hill (D-CA) condemning Sec. Ben Carson’s comments about transgendered people, which identified Hill as a “lesbian” seemingly prompted Hill’s estranged husband to out her on an entirely different issue.

Out lesbian?!? Then why has she been sleeping with her (male) finance director for the past year at least?I couldn’t…

Kenny Heslep was married to Hill for nearly a decade and filed for divorce in July. He wrote:

I couldn’t dispute this if she was still holding to being bisexual. But but being with her husband (me) for almost 15 years and then leaving me for another MAN, not woman, whom she is still seeing, is not her being a lesbian. Bisexual yes, as I will back up her claims to this. But not lesbian alone.

Maybe you simply reported incorrectly, in which case you should correct it to bisexual. As she made this a major part of her platform while campaigning.

Feel free to contact me for more information. I’m sure you can find me with minimal effort.

Graham Kelly, a man, was Hill’s finance director from May 2017 until November 2018, according to his LinkedIn profile. The position was apparently vacant until a female finance director started in July 2019.

Hill is the second member of “The Squad” going through a divorce in the midst of an alleged affair. Hill’s reported relationship with her former campaign staffer is more problematic than that of Rep. Ilhan Omar, though, because Kelly is now Hill’s Legislative Director. Congressional pay records show that Kelly was paid just over $20,000 for the 2nd quarter of 2019.

Engaging in a sexual relationship with a subordinate is strictly against House Ethics rules. The Code of Conduct that members of Congress must abide by states:

18. (a) A Member, Delegate, or Resident Commissioner may not engage in a sexual relationship with any employee of the House who works under the supervision of the Member, Delegate, or Resident Commissioner, or who is an employee of a committee on which the Member, Delegate, or Resident Commissioner serves. This paragraph does not apply with respect to any relationship between two people who are married to each other.

Hill’s office did not respond to a request for comment before press time.

Support for Impeachment Is Exploding but There Are Caveats

There are several counterpoints to this trend, but let’s just start with the setup and numbers first.

Obviously, we are in the midst of impeachment-mania, where the bureaucracies are leaking things almost hourly to target Trump and the Democrats continue to act super serious without actually having the stones to vote. Then you have the media going absolutely wild, framing everything in the worst light and refusing to even report on counter-evidence.

Is it any surprise while such a frenzy is going on, the American people may be shifting a bit in sentiment?

Take these latest polls for example.

So what does this actually mean? I’m not sure it means much. Again, we are at what is probably the worse point in this cycle for the President. Nearly hourly dumps, while there’s no clear impeachment pursuit, can lead to narratives being built that aren’t necessarily supported by facts.

What exactly is Trump supposedly going to be impeached over? We don’t know because the Democrats won’t tell us. But the chaos of it all is likely grating on voters and that’s always been a danger to Trump.

Of course, another counterfactual is just how questionable the sampling is in that Fox poll.

I mean, it’s possible that party affiliation has changed so much as to allow a 14 point spread between Republicans and Democrats, but I kind of doubt it.

The real question is what this will look like six months from now when the Democrats still haven’t impeached the President, or worse for them, they do and the Senate airs everything they are trying to keep secret, leading to his acquittal.

Eventually, this game Pelosi and Schiff are playing will grow old with the public. You can’t just keep witnesses and evidence under wraps and then say “trust us, we still have to remove the President.” Much like how impeachment support exploded in the early days of the Mueller probe, I expect to see a recession happen as this drags on.

Democrats have painted themselves into a corner. Had they waited to drop this in the summer of 2020, it may have worked to their advantage. But they risk impeachment fatigue and people realizing they don’t have the goods long before public sentiment is settled on who to vote for. The risk that something truly damning could come out still exists, but I’m doubtful we get anything but further muddying of the waters.

The window for impeachment is not a year long. Democrats will have to make their move sooner rather than later and we’ll see what these polls say after that plays out.
