Dhvani, which bills itself as “Your New Favorite Activ(ist) Wear Brand,” has come out with a new ad campaign and it’s designed to shock. A giant billboard in Times Square alternates photos of well-toned women shown physically abusing the President.

The ads are in response to the Trump administration’s enforcement of the Title X gag rule, which bars clinics that provide or refer patients for abortions from getting federal family planning funds. The company plans to donate 5% of its gross sales through December 31st to Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon and Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette.

Angela Williams, chief marketing officer at Dhvani, spoke to AdAge about their controversial new ad. She indicated that the company faced some initial resistance from billboard owners. I can’t imagine why. Fortunately, “we were able to work with our vendor and reach a consensus on the level of facial obfuscation that would appease the landlord and get this bold, pull-no-punches, call-to-arms creative up and in front of potentially millions of like-minded Americans.”

The “series of images [shown below] depict Trump tied up, on the toilet or shushed by women fed up with the actions and the rhetoric of this White House.”

In an image titled “Lady Liberty,” running on a Times Square billboard, middle school teacher and Marine Corps veteran Michal Mesa binds a convincing Trump impersonator, her bare foot planted firmly on his face, in a vignette inspired by the superhero Wonder Woman and her Lasso of Truth.

Another model for the campaign is Chloe Mason, chief communications officer at Dhvani, who appears in warrior and tree yoga poses, silencing a bound Trump with one finger. In another photo, the president is seated on a gold toilet, pants around his ankles, as his smartphone is grabbed out of his hands.

Are these humiliating photographs of the President okay to Democrats who go wobbly over a violent meme? If President Obama had ever been featured in a similar way, there would be cries of racism and protests in the streets. Yet, we’ll likely hear nothing from liberals over this latest display of disrespect.

Last week, political strategist Karl Rove wrote a column about the Democrats’ constant refrain that Trump is not above the law. Rove argued that liberals treat him as if he is below the law. They regard him as though he were a lowly, worthless slug. President Trump is a human being worthy of respect. He is also a U.S. citizen entitled to due process under the law. He receives neither.

Democrats only uphold principles when it’s in their best interest to do so.

I never liked Barack Obama. The night he won the presidency, I could barely speak. But, he had won a fair election and along with every other conservative, I accepted it and hoped he didn’t do too much damage to the country until he could be voted out of office. Not so for the Democrats. It’s been nearly three years since his victory and they still refuse to accept it.

In the tweet below, journalist Charlie Kirk wonders whether any Democrats will speak out against this despicable ad as they would if the situation were reversed. I doubt it.

Hillary Clinton Violated Classified Information Handling Rules and Her Lifetime Non-Disclosure Agreement

This is a short tutorial on classified information that explains what classified information is, how it is to be protected, the obligations of everyone granted access to it, and the rules governing its handling under all circumstances. After you read it, as well as this article I wrote, you will understand what Hillary Clinton did – knowingly – and her multiple felonies! There remain many Americans who don’t understand the rules, including the lifelong obligation that ANYONE granted access has to protect the information, and that the statutes are completely silent on “intent” regarding its compromise. In short, even if an inadvertent error is made resulting in the compromise (“spillage”) of classified information, that person is flat-out guilty of a felony – no questions asked. Anyone who states that Hillary showed no “intent” in compromising classified information via her server and therefore deserved to be exonerated by James Comey is lying.

What infuriates me are all the Hillary Clinton sycophants on CNN and MSNBC who themselves once had access to classified information, and who blithely continue to excuse the multiple felonies that she and her aides committed surrounding her unauthorized email server when they know the rules and obligations. She and her aides (and anyone else who had knowledge of what classified information passed through that server) can be prosecuted at any time, provided there is the political will to do so. Commentators and others who excuse her crimes are undermining that political will which, of course, is their goal.

There has been virtually ZERO honest investigative reporting on this subject by the legacy media since Hillary’s unauthorized server was first discovered despite the abundance of current and former military and intelligence community personnel available to explain the topic to the American people. On the contrary, those people have been covering for everyone who mishandled classified information that passed through that server. It is up to the rest of us to continue to demand accountability and harsh punishment if the justice that has been delayed is to be finally served. Thus, a little tutorial on classified info is in order to level-set those who have never held a security clearance.

Information is classified based on level of damage to national security if disclosed (Top Secret – exceptionally grave damage; Secret – serious damage; Confidential – damage). Higher levels of TS classification exist: Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Program (SAP). SCI is derived from intel sources and methods and must be handled very carefully with higher security protection requirements and very limited personnel access. SAP requires even stronger and more extraordinary protection measures (physical, information, personnel). The bottom line is that TS/SCI and TS/SAP information is the most carefully guarded national security and intelligence information produced and maintained in the US.

To gain access to any classified info, three things must happen:

  • A favorable determination of eligibility (a comprehensive background investigation completed)
  • A “need-to-know” (a valid requirement for access to the information)
  • A signed Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)

The NDA is a lifetime contract between a person and the government to protect classified info. It clearly delineates that violation of the Espionage Act of 1917 can result in fine, incarceration or even death. This includes: giving classified info to unauthorized individuals, causing classified info to be lost or stolen, or failing to report to security when you know or suspect that classified info has been provided to someone who is not authorized (PARTICULARLY NOTE this last part!). Here are the penalties for violation of Title 18 USC – Espionage: $10,000 fine for EACH offense, up to life imprisonment without parole, or the death penalty in certain circumstances (PARTICULARLY NOTE the “each offense” part!). The NDA also specifically identifies the regulations which govern classified information, including unauthorized disclosure: Section 793, 794, 790, and 952 of Title 18 USC, Section 783(b) of Title 60 USC, and EO 12356. These statutes have their own penalties for violations thereunder.

Here are some other miscellaneous tidbits to better understand classified information handling requirements. First of all, all classified information must be properly marked at the level at which it is classified. This is done down to the paragraph level in documents. Classification markings also apply to the electronic environment, too (e.g., web pages, Wiki’s, blogs, chat rooms, bulletin boards, and emails). In short, EVERYTHING classified must be properly marked.

There are two main systems for sending classified information electronically: Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (JWICS) for TS and above information, and Secure Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET) for SECRET and CONFIDENTIAL information. These are basically secure private networks that enable people to use Microsoft Office and customized apps to exchange classified information. Email senders are responsible for maintaining the highest level of classification contained through a classified email chain, including attachments (and cannot arbitrarily downgrade or declassify something). Classification of a document is permanent until properly declassified.

SCI and SAP information are maintained and stored in special classified facilities: SCI Facilities (SCIF) and SAP Facilities (SAPF). Authorized access requirements to these facilities are extremely stringent and special handling rules apply to the info created/stored/maintained. SCI/SAP material cannot be removed from a SCIF/SAPF without prior approval of security personnel.

Removable media (DVDs, external hard drives, USB drives, etc.) are carefully controlled. All SCIFs/SAPFs have a designated media custodian responsible for control and accountability of all media (everything must be under direct control). Two-person integrity is required for all removable media once it enters a SCIF/SAPF. This means that one person is not authorized to download and remove classified files on, for example, a thumb drive.

SCI/SAP file transfers are only allowed to be conducted by a designated “transfer agent” (with a courier card or letter of designation). In short, not just any random person with a clearance is authorized to transfer files. All IT systems have the ability to write to removable media function disabled as a default setting; a privileged person (like a sysadmin) has to manually enable the function. These manual actions are automatically audited (meaning, any attempt to use removable media is KNOWN). The authorized transfer agents cannot have admin privileges on the systems which they will be writing to removable media. It takes a sysadmin/security person to enable the file transfer function and the authorized transfer agent to download a classified file to removable media. One person can’t do it, and everyone who operates these systems is trained on downloading procedures.

An Original Classification Authority is a government person who has authorization to classify newly developed information up to Top Secret level. There are very few of these in the federal government. Hillary Clinton was an OCA in the State Department. Think about that! She KNEW what she was doing. The notion that she didn’t know what was classified was a bald-faced lie.

Everyone who accesses TS/SCI, TS/SAP, and other classified info receives training in all of the above procedures and information BEFORE personally signing the NDA acknowledging the penalties for violation of the laws governing classified information. And an OCA receives specialized training in how to classify information. That infamous statement that she didn’t know what a “C” meant was yet another one of her many lies as she tried to squirm off the hook.

To summarize: there are strict rules for handling classified info, in particular for copying & transferring files. Two people must be involved in copying/transferring TS/SCI and/or SAP info. Everyone receives training and must sign an NDA. This would include Hillary Clinton and her immediate staff who accessed TS/SCI and/or SAP info. The rules and penalties are clear to all!

She clearly violated Title 18 USC – Espionage, the penalty for which includes a $10,000 fine for EACH offense and up to life imprisonment without parole (again, PARTICULARLY NOTE the “for each offense” part!). In my estimation, this clearly qualified her as a “domestic enemy”! And she and her staffers who were involved with that email server violated Sections 793, 794, 790, and 952 of Title 18 USC, Section 783(b) of Title 60 USC, and EO 12356. That she and they remain free and have not been indicted yet is a travesty of justice. Those who helped let her and them off the hook are guilty of misprision and obstruction of justice. These crimes CANNOT and WILL NOT be forgotten. It is long past time that this domestic enemy – as well as all her many enablers over the years – saw the inside of a jail cell!

The end.

Jan Brewer: Media Treated Me Much Differently than Pelosi When I Pointed a Finger at a President

After House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told reporters on Wednesday that President Trump had had a “meltdown” in the middle of a bipartisan meeting on the Syria issue, Trump took to the Twitter machine in an effort to try and prove it was Pelosi and not him who had the meltdown.

Here’s what he tweeted:

Instead of backing down, Pelosi’s staff made the picture he tweeted the header image on her Twitter page:

The media have unquestionably been swooning over the photo ever since. As Newsbusters’ Nicholas Fondacaro notes, MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell and Lester Holt were among the many who were in awe of the supposed symbolism of the image:

Anchor Lester Holt began by touting the image himself. “It was during a contentious White House meeting about the Syria conflict that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stood up in front of President Trump. The photo instantly becoming a new and powerful symbol of their power struggle,” he said.

Mitchell, a well-documented fangirl of the Clintons, proclaimed the picture was “iconic” and boasted about how it was “released by the White House to diminish the Speaker, she immediately turned it into a badge of courage and her cover photo.”

CNN’s Dana Bash was another who was couldn’t help but gush over the photo, and how Pelosi and her staff “owned” the moment where she “[stood up] … at a table of all men” against Trump:

“Can we do just one more beat on that photo?” Bash asked as the image was onscreen. “Until now, what her staff owned, and what has made her kind of iconic among the Democratic base and even beyond that, is that picture walking out of the White House and putting her sunglasses on. I mean, this makes that look like, you know, not even at all symbolic.”

“I mean, look at that photo of one woman standing up and, you know, giving it to the president of the United States at a table of all men there. I mean, of course she’s going to own that.”

Former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, a Republican, had a much more different take, noting that when she was photographed pointing a finger at President Obama in 2012, she was treated much differently by the mainstream media:

She’s right. Many media outlets either took a questioning or hostile tone over the image, or showed complete indifference – unlike how the Pelosi picture has been treated.

NBC’s Brian Williams wondered “”Who have you ever seen talking to the President like this?”

NPR headline: Arizona Gov. Brewer Says She ‘Was Not Hostile’ In Meeting With Obama

“Finger-wagging Arizona governor says Obama was the disrespectful one”, wrote the Mercury News.

MSNBC had a poll up on their website that asked the question “Should Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer apologize for pointing her finger in President Obama’s face?”

The Root’s headline on their version of the story was: Arizona Gov Points Finger at Obama in Nasty Face-Off.

The media weren’t the only ones who frowned over Brewer’s actions:

Brewer took flak for her finger-pointing from both the media and the public, who accused her of disrespecting the presidency. More than 12,000 letters flooded her office in the ensuing days, most of which condemned her, calling her “trashy” and “tasteless.” Likening the act to belching at the president, a writer for the Washington Post scolded her, “If a thing is frowned upon in general, it’s even worse to do it to the president in particular.”

But I was told the media “don’t root for a side” or anything:

I am so confused.

‘Recall Newsom’ Movement Begins in California and At Least One Hollywood Actor Is On Board

California’s Governor Gavin Newsom has been all over the news lately, setting himself up as the progressive answer to Donald Trump and coming out swinging over policies such as single-payer health care in the state, rights for illegal immigrants, challenging the NCAA on student athlete salaries, and his attempts to rein in California’s oil production.

Now two separate recall efforts have begun in the state, with at least one popular Hollywood comedian publicly supporting one of the movements.

Current congressional candidate Erin Cruz, from the Palm Springs area, launched her petition first in early August, accusing the governor of mismanaging the state and criticizing his support of certain policies. She specifically cited his Medicare for All proposal and laws helping immigrants living in the country illegally.

The secretary of state approved a second petition later in August from former congressional candidate Dr. James Veltmeyer, from the San Diego area. It says Gov. Newsom has violated the public trust in four areas: Health care for undocumented immigrants, tax increases, homelessness, and sanctuary state and cities policies.

The latter effort comes complete with a slick website and support from at least one Hollywood actor who has been fairly vocal on twitter about his dislike of some ultra progressive policies.

Veltmeyer’s effort gives four specific areas in which they feel Newsom has violated the public’s trust: health care for illegal aliens, tax increases, homelessness, and sanctuary state and city status.

Under California law, the voters have the right to hold a recall election to attempt to end the term of a state or local official. In 2003, the state’s voters successfully replaced incumbent Democratic Governor Gray Davis with Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Tom Arnold Makes Veiled Assassination Reference to Trump

FILE – In this July 26, 2018, file photo, host and executive producer Tom Arnold participates in Viceland’s “The Hunt for the Trump Tapes with Tom Arnold” panel during the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour at The Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif. A purported scuffle at a pre-Emmys bash between Arnold and Mark Burnett, a producer of “The Apprentice” has led to an exchange on social media. (Photo by Richard Shotwell/Invision/AP, File)

Actor Tom Arnold has long been obsessed with President Donald Trump and trying to get him out of office.

Indeed, he’s part of the Democratic Coalition’s “Impeachment Task Force” comprised of celebrities who really hate Trump and think because of that they can somehow overrule the vote of the American people.

He even created a show, “The Hunt for the Trump Tapes,” searching for incriminating Trump tapes which of course never turned up anything.

But his obsession completely took him over the slide last night when he made a veiled reference to assassination in response to Trump.

The president held a rally in Dallas last night and tweeted out a picture of part of the massive crowd. There were 20,000 in the packed arena and thousands more in the overflow outside.

That tweet seemed to trigger Arnold. “Don’t get too cocky traitor. They showed up for JFK too,” he tweeted, clearly referencing the crowds in Dallas before President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963.

As the Daily Caller observed, this kind of stuff isn’t a joke.

Just before Arnold’s tweet was posted, however, Dallas police officers averted a very real threat. According to a report from NBC’s Dallas-Fort Worth affiliate, a man carrying a variety of weapons was detained near the president’s rally before he could cause anyone harm.

“A man wearing a vest, helmet and a backpack near President Trump’s Dallas rally counter-protestors was just detained by Dallas police. Officers confiscated a gun, breathing mask, knee pads & some type of aerosol can,” NBC reported.

Did this clarify things for Arnold? Not really.

He’s still living in the TDS cult-crazy land where they’re going to force him out any minute now.

Apparently Twitter found his original tweet vile too, pulling it after finding it in violation of the rules when he was reported by multiple people.

And it wouldn’t be surprising if Arnold got a visit from the Secret Service.

Turkey Agrees to a Cease Fire and Mitt Romney Is Really Mad

Westlake Legal Group Mitt-Romney-Real-MR-Please-Stand-Up Turkey Agrees to a Cease Fire and Mitt Romney Is Really Mad YPG Unserious turks Turkey Speech SDF republicans Politics pkk Obama Mitt Romney Kurds Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story False donald trump cease fire Allow Media Exception

I don’t get it. I’m looking at my Twitter timeline and seeing this speech by Mitt Romney being passed around as “brilliant” and “nine minutes worth listening to.” Then I watch it and it’s full of false characterizations, ridiculous assertions, and a complete lack of respect for what it costs to wage war. Maybe I just have higher standards for what qualifies as brilliant?

But first, let’s talk about the background. Yesterday, Turkey and the United States agreed to a five day cease fire in Northern Syria. This allows the Kurds to pull back from the border and setup the safe zone that was already negotiated last year. Some argue this is unfair. It’s not.

The PKK/YPG are a terrorist group. We allied with them to fight ISIS out of necessity, not because they are innocent bystanders in the geopolitics of the region nor are these are not our traditional “Kurdish” allies in Iraq. The group has carried out terrorists attacks that have killed thousands of innocent people over the decades. These are simply facts that can’t be ignored, though Mitt Romney is going to do his darnedest in a minute to do so. Ever wonder why they changed their name to the SDF? It was because their history was so checkered that the Obama administration demanded they rebrand.

For Turkey’s part, their incursion is an overreaction, despite legitimate security concerns (of which even Sen. Lindsey Graham has admitted). They have no right to go kill civilians in response to the historical actions of the PKK/YPG. Left unchecked, that’d be left a real possibility.

Given the very complicated, gray nature of all this, the best outcome was a cease fire that allows the Kurds to withdraw a few miles and avoid anymore major conflict and that’s what has now been negotiated, with the Kurds agreeing as well.

This left Mitt Romney really upset.

You can watch the whole thing if you’d like, but it’s essentially exactly what you’d expect. At one point, he plays tough guy and opines that Turkey is a “small country” and projects that it should be exceptionally easy to deal with them. There’s no admission they are part of NATO or that war with Turkey would be profoundly harmful to the United States on a variety of levels.

At another point, Romney fumes that he doesn’t know why the Foreign Affairs Committee even exists in light of Trump’s decision to pull out. Perhaps we agree there. If these people were actually serious, they’d be fighting to pass a new AUMF and declare war on Turkey so we can “protect our allies,” because there is no other way (outside of the already negotiated cease fire) that we can fight for PKK/YPG otherwise.

Romney presents the situation like it’s a video game. If we just press the right combination of buttons really quick, it’ll all be fine. Worse, he won’t just say what he wants. If the cease fire and coming sanctions aren’t good enough, what’s he want to do then? He won’t say because like most members of Congress, he’s too cowardly to admit his ultimate conclusion.

Message to Romney: If you truly believe in protecting the PKK/YPG, start stumping for a vote on a new AUMF.

His entire speech is fundamentally unserious. If we start killing Turks to stop their advance, we are inviting more cooperation between them and Russia, a major new war in the region, and an unprecedented crisis in NATO. There’s a reason no EU countries are rushing in to help here, even though they were far more at risk from ISIS and the refugee crisis than the United States. It’s an extremely volatile and complicated situation.

The cease fire was the best, and really only outcome here that could prevent further harm from being done. If we the PKK/YPG weren’t a terrorist group and we were formally allied with them, matters would be different. But the reality is what it is.

Romney goes on to say our actions are a “bloodstain” on American history, again ignoring all the complexities that exist and the fact that the majority of Americans do not want to risk getting involved in another war in the Middle East. What Romney says in this speech plays well with a certain minority of conservatives with big platforms, but it’s not mainstream at all.

My best advice for Trump skeptical Republicans, many of which own blue check-marks on Twitter, is to stop trying to make this guy a thing. Mitt Romney is not a serious person. He’s a politician who sees a future opening to run for President, nothing more. That speech might as well be from 2003 given how tone deaf it is to the realities on the ground. It’s the same rah-rah, Bush-esque foreign policy ranting we’ve heard for almost two decades that has led to so much jadedness, not just among Republicans, but among the entire country. Find a new hero.

Unsolicited Advice: Am I In Love With a ‘Cat Lady’?

Westlake Legal Group girl-213738_640-214x300 Unsolicited Advice: Am I In Love With a ‘Cat Lady’? romance Reddit Front Page Stories Featured Story Culture compromise cats cat lady advice

Welcome to Unsolicited Advice, the weekly column where I dispense advice to people who never asked me for it and don’t know who I am.

Last week I had to tell a not-so-young woman that her boyfriend of fifteen years was never going to marry her. This week we head back to the never-disappointing Reddit forums where we find a frustrated young man. In an effort to compromise with his girlfriend about her ever-present cat, our young lover offered what he believed to be a reasonable compromise.

I feel that compromise is an important part of any relationship, so a few months ago I offered what I felt like was a fair solution: on nights when I sleep over, the cat would not be allowed in the bed when we lay down for the night, but if it jumped into the bed after we fell asleep (which it almost always does in less than 30 minutes), then I wouldn’t kick it out. She agreed, and I thought all would be well.

All did not go well, and the girlfriend backed out of their agreement after just a couple of weeks, saying she’d changed her mind and she was “not willing to compromise on this”.

Anyway, later in the evening she laid down to take a nap and asked me to join, but the cat was laying right next to her where I would normally lay. I said, “I would, but you’re not going to let me move the cat, are you?” She said no, and I asked how I was supposed to lay with her with the cat being in the way. She said that I could just sleep on the other side of it.

Am I right that she’s the one being unreasonable here? This seems like such a ridiculous problem that shouldn’t be causing fights like this.

Oh, Mr. Cat Compromiser…you’ve found yourself in the right place. I’m about to spit some unsolicited gold.

You are right that this is a ridiculous problem. However, the cat is not the problem. The girlfriend is the problem. The cat is a symptom.

The real problem is that you have chosen a girlfriend who is unwilling to make small but meaningful changes to accommodate a mate. Your demands are not unreasonable at all. The cat has free reign when you’re not around and when you are around you seem willing to make compromises. You’ve indicated you’re even willing to put up with the cat sneaking in at night. You’ve set some very basic boundaries aimed at fostering intimacy between you and your girlfriend.

That she sees this as some sort of imposition is a red flag and if you think about it, it’s not all that odd. You get used to living life on your own terms and soon it begins to feel “natural”. You begin to feel entitled to have all of your boundaries and lifestyle preferences accommodated because “this is just the way I am”. Your girlfriend feels entitled to live her life her way and only her way. I’m not judging her for that. That is her call. What I’m saying is that she is not really telling you that her cat is more important than your relationship; she is telling you that her own comfort is more important to her than your relationship.

Again, that’s her right and her call but after twenty years of marriage, I can tell you that no thriving relationship comes without a cost, without compromise. Despite modern sensibilities, it is actually a very good thing to marry young. You grow into each other’s lives together, at the same pace. The older one gets the harder it becomes because you are being asked to clear out space in your life that has been occupied by other junk for a long time.

Your girlfriend isn’t willing to make space for you in her life. She won’t even make it for you in her bed. Is that the type of person you can see yourself settling down with?

Again – to ward off the cat cults – this is not a column about the cat. The cat is fine. The woman is the one who is creating boundaries where none need exist. She is not so much choosing her cat over you, but rather her independence over you. Independence is a great thing, but healthy relationships are made when two people decide to depend on each other. Your girlfriend doesn’t seem to be ready for that.

I’m not sure how long you’ve been with her, or how serious you are but I think you should take a step back and start exploring other options. This is not a woman who is serious about making room for love. It will only end badly, as you can tell by her reaction to this one request.

You’ll know a woman is right for you when she not only makes reasonable compromises for your comfort and happiness, but  finds joy in doing so. Likewise, you will also find joy in making her life better for her even if it means giving up some comfort on your end. It won’t be a battle or big negotiation, it will evolve reasonably because that’s what happens in mature relationships.

Leave your girlfriend behind. Let her know that it isn’t about the cat, it is about her unwillingness to shift the borders of her life to squeeze you in once in a while. Then grab her pussy one last time, say a fond goodbye and go find a woman who will welcome you as a partner rather than just someone who warms the other side of the cat at night.

After Trump Calls His Former Defense Secretary ‘The World’s Most Overrated General,’ Mattis Smacks Back at Al Smith Dinner

During President Trump’s contentious meeting with Congressional leaders on Wednesday, Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) read aloud a comment General James “Mad Dog” Mattis had made in a weekend appearance on “Meet the Press.” Mattis, Trump’s former Secretary of Defense, had remarked that if the U.S. does not keep a troop presence in northern Syria, ISIS would resurge.

Trump allegedly responded that Mattis was the “world’s most overrated general.” He added, “He wasn’t tough enough. I captured ISIS. Mattis said it would take two years. I captured them in one month.”

Last night, during his keynote speech at the 74th annual Al Smith Memorial Foundation dinner in Manhattan, Mattis shot back at Trump. Here are a few of the General’s barbs.

I’m not just an overrated general. I’m the greatest, the world’s most overrated.

I’m honored to be considered that by Donald Trump because he also called Meryl Streep an overrated actress. So I guess I’m the Meryl Streep of generals, and frankly that sounds pretty good to me.

And you do have to admit that between me and Meryl, at least we’ve had some victories.

(Note: After actress Meryl Streep attacked Trump prior to his inauguration, he tweeted that she was one of the most overrated actresses in Hollywood.)

Mattis continued, “I think the only person in the military that Mr. Trump doesn’t think is overrated is Colonel Sanders.”

In reference to the bone spurs Trump claimed to have had in both feet which prevented him from serving in the Vietnam War, Mattis joked, “I earned my spurs on the battlefield; Donald Trump earned his spurs from the doctor.”

Still, we can’t be too hard on the General; he’s been fairly reluctant to criticize Trump publicly since his resignation last December over major policy differences. In fact, Mattis has been surprisingly critical of several of Obama’s foreign policy decisions.

Surprisingly, two anti-Trumpers took issue with Mattis’ remarks.

Susan Hennessey, a Brookings Institution senior fellow and executive editor of the Lawfare blog, tweeted “I know he’s speaking at a dinner meant for jokes, but this is just an absurd and undignified way for Mattis to make his first public critiques of the president. After indefensible silence, this will surely undercut the gravity of any future words he might have on the subject.”

Thomas M. Nichols, a professor at the U.S. Naval War College in Rhode Island, said he “did not think the speech was an occasion for laughter. I don’t think anyone should be chuckling at Mattis’s brush off of Trump’s insult. It’s his facile way of dodging the reality that he knows a lot about what happened in this White House, including what are now obviously impeachable acts directly related to his time as SECDEF.”

According to the Washington Post:

Since leaving Trump’s Cabinet, the former defense secretary has remained mostly mum on U.S. foreign and military policy. Even in his recently released memoir, “Call Sign Chaos,” the military leader refrains from discussing much of his time within the Trump administration. Mattis has hinted that one day he may speak out against Trump’s policy decisions more directly, saying he does not owe the president his silence “forever.”

Durham Has Mifsud’s Blackberrys And Flynn Attorney Wants The Data

A new twist in the investigation of the origins of the Russia probe came Monday from one of retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn’s attorneys when she disclosed in a court motion the existence of two Blackberry phones used by Joseph Mifsud that were tied to Western intelligence.

On Thursday, that same attorney, Sidney Powell, confirmed to the Washington Times, that the Blackberrys lie in the hands of U.S. Attorney John Durham — AG Barr’s pick to investigate the Russia probe origins.

Powell seems to be seeking the Blackberrys as exculpatory evidence in Flynn’s case, showing that the government withheld such evidence early on in violation of a judge’s demand.

Ms. Powell has added to the Mifsud intrigue with her motion before District Court Judge Emmet G. Sullivan asking him to order the government to turn over the BlackBerrys’ data. The filing lists the two phones’ model number, PIN and SIM card information.

She told the judge that on Oct. 11 she asked the prosecution for phone data. She was ignored until she sent notification days later that she planned to file the discovery motion.

The motion says: “Michael T. Flynn requests the government be ordered to produce evidence that has only recently come into its possession……… This information is material, exculpatory, and relevant to the defense of Mr. Flynn, and specifically to the “OCONUS LURES” and agents that western intelligence tasked against him likely as early as 2014 to arrange—unbeknownst to him—‘connections’ with certain Russians that they would then use against him in their false claims. The phones were used by Mr. Joseph Mifsud.”

“OCONUS LURES” is an FBI acronym for an operation to lure a person back to the U.S.

Mifsud, a Maltese professor who reportedly told Trump advisor George Papadopoulos that the Russians were in possession of Hillary Clinton’s emails, was thought to have possibly been visited by Durham and Barr recently in Rome, Italy, where he was a professor. The FBI has accused Mifsud of being a Russian asset. Papadopoulos, however, contends the professor was a Western asset whose goal was to trap him with information about Clinton’s emails, which ultimately reached the FBI and is the ostensible reason for the opening of the Russian collusion investigation.

Reacting to the BlackBerry disclosure, Mr. Papadopoulos tweeted: “I lived this spy story. The government’s of the UK, Australia, Italy sent their agents: Mifsud, Downer, Halper, Azra Turk and many more. With the new info on Mifsud’s phones with the DOJ, my story was the one that exposed the greatest spying scandal in history. Downer is next!”

Alexander Downer was the Australian ambassador in London to whom Mr. Papadopoulos relayed the Mifsud gossip. Mr. Downer denies he was a spy. Stephan Halper and Azar Turk were FBI/western intelligence spies assigned to Mr. Papadopoulos in London.

The request for the data contained on the Blackberrys is a possible link between the investigation into the origins of the Russia probe and the Flynn appeal. Flynn, who was the Obama administration’s head of the Pentagon’s Defense Intelligence Agency until forced to retire retire over differences related to fighting Islamic extremists, pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI regarding conversations with the Russian ambassador when he served as Trump’s national security advisor early in 2017.
