In March, I wrote a post in which I asked, “What is the connection between James Clapper, Victor Pinchuk, and the chief technology officer of CrowdStrike, which was the only company the DNC allowed to access their server?” This post jumped into my head the moment I saw a Breitbart article reporting that one of Adam Schiff’s staffers had met with diplomat William Taylor on a trip to Ukraine which was organized by The Atlantic Council. I had written:

Ukrainian billionaire and longtime contributor to the Clinton Foundation Victor Pinchuk, was doing his best to promote a Clinton victory. Pinchuk serves on the International Advisory Board of a Washington-based think tank called the Atlantic Council. This group is “connected to Ukrainian interests through its “Ukraine in Europe Initiative,” which is designed to galvanize international support for an independent Ukraine within secure borders whose people will determine their own future.”

Also serving on the International Advisory Board of the Atlantic Council is James Clapper, who served as Obama’s Director of National Intelligence.

Funnily enough, [Dan] Bongino discovered that the Chief Technology Officer of “the only company that investigated the hacking of the DNC’s servers and quickly determined it was the Russians, is a nonresident senior fellow in cybersecurity” at the Atlantic Council. His name is Dmitri Alperovitch.

Please keep this in mind as you read this post.

The Atlantic Council is a super liberal think-tank which receives much of its funding from Burisma Holdings, the Ukrainian natural gas company where Hunter Biden had served as a board member.

Breitbart’s Aaron Klein obtained a copy of travel documents which showed that, twelve days after the “whistleblower” submitted his complaint to the Intelligence Community Inspector General, one of House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff’s staffers, Thomas Eager, held a meeting with acting U.S. ambassador (or Charge d’Affaires) to Ukraine William Taylor. The two were on a trip to Ukraine which had been organized by The Atlantic Council. It was “billed as a bipartisan Ukraine Study Trip in which ten Congressional staffers participated.”

Eager is a member of The Atlantic Council and Taylor has a “close relationship” with the organization as well.

Klein writes that Schiff’s office has refused to respond to any of Breitbart’s questions or comment requests. Specifically, Breitbart had asked, “While in Ukraine, did Mr. Eager speak to Mr. Taylor about the issue of reports about any representatives of President Trump looking into alleged Biden corruption in Ukraine?”

The trip took place between August 24 and August 31. The “whistleblower” filed his complaint on August 12. Last week, we learned that Schiff had lied when he told MSNBC on September 17, “We have not spoken directly with the whistleblower. We would like to.” Via the New York Times, we found out that one of Schiff’s staffers had been approached by the whistleblower before he filed his complaint and shared this information with Schiff.

Following is one of the text message exchanges between Taylor and U.S. ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland. It shows Taylor’s obvious bias against President Trump, so naturally Schiff has made him a key witness in his impeachment inquiry over Trump’s July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Taylor is scheduled to provide a deposition next week.

NBC News’ reported that Taylor will be “represented during the deposition by attorney John Bellinger, a prominent “Never Trump” Republican who served in the George W. Bush administration.”

Here is one of the exchanges. (Via NPR)

On September 9th, Taylor wrote: “I think it’s crazy to withhold security assistance for help with a political campaign.”

Sondland responds: “Bill, I believe you are incorrect about President Trump’s intentions. The President has been crystal clear no quid pro quo’s of any kind.”

Sondland adds, “I suggest we stop the back and forth by text.”)

To give you an idea of how deeply involved, and therefore how “anti-Trump” Taylor is, I am including the details from Klein’s article. He does go into the weeds, but it explains how interconnected, almost incestuous, all of these players are. I recommend at least a quick scan of his findings.

When we see how extensive the network’s tentacles go, we begin to understand how they were able to carry out their plot against President Trump and to avoid detection for so long. All of the actors cover for and facilitate each other. We also realize that Ukraine has been the common denominator for a large part of the conspiracy to take down the Trump administration.

Former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch, whose prepared opening statement to the House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry team was leaked to the press last week, said she was recalled based on “unfounded and false claims.” I found a major lie in her testimony. She had written, “As Mr. Lutsenko, the former Ukrainian Prosecutor General has recently acknowledged, the notion that I created or disseminated a “do not prosecute” list is completely false—a story that Mr. Lutsenko, himself, has since retracted.” The reality is that Lutsenko has done no such thing. I posted about this here. And you can bet this was not her only lie. She is likely up to her eyeballs in wrongdoing.

The left has perpetrated such a major fraud which has involved so many, I don’t see how it could not leave a paper trail. The bigger an operation becomes, the more difficult it is to contain. Each additional participant adds to the risk of exposure. And in an operation as vast and far-reaching as this one, someone is going to slip up.

I have confidence that Attorney General William Barr and U.S. Attorney John Durham have already found or will find the evidence necessary to blow this giant ambush of the U.S. President wide open.

Taylor and The Atlantic Council

Taylor has authored numerous analysis pieces published by the Atlantic Council.

In March, three months before he became Trump’s ambassador to Ukraine, the Atlantic Council featured an oped co-authored by Taylor in which the diplomat argued Ukraine “has further to travel toward its self-proclaimed European goal” of reformation.

In 2017, Taylor wrote a piece for the Council about a Ukrainian parliament vote on health care reform.

In November 2011, the Atlantic Council hosted Taylor as the featured speaker at a discussion event when he was appointed that year as Special Coordinator for Middle East Transitions at the State Department.

When he deployed to Ukraine as Trump’s ambassador in June, the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC), which has co-hosted events with the Atlantic Council, authored a piece in the Kyiv Post welcoming him.

Taylor for the last nine years served as a senior adviser to the USUBC.

The USUBC’s piece noted that the “USUBC has worked closely with Ambassador Taylor for many years,” touting his role as the business group’s senior adviser.

On June 26, just nine days after arriving in Ukraine as ambassador, the USUBC already hosted Taylor for a roundtable discussion about his new position.

Vadym Pozharskyi, adviser to the board of directors at Burisma Holdings, was also previously hosted as a USUBC featured speaker.

A USUBC senior adviser is David J. Kramer, a long-time adviser to late Senator John McCain, who served at the McCain Institute for International Leadership as senior director for human rights and democracy. Kramer played a central role in disseminating the anti-Trump dossier.

In the USUBC piece welcoming Taylor to Ukraine, Kramer himself commented about Taylor’s ambassador position.

“He’s a great choice for now,” Kramer gushed.

Geysha Gonzalez is the sponsoring Atlantic Council officer listed on the Congressional disclosure form for Schiff staffer Eager’s trip to Ukraine. She is deputy director of the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center.

Gonzalez is also one of eleven members of the rapid response team for the Ukrainian Election Task Force, which says it is working to expose “foreign interference in Ukraine’s democracy.”

Another member of the team is Kramer.

Kramer revealed in testimony that he held a meeting about the anti-Trump dossier with a reporter from BuzzFeed News, who he says snapped photos of the controversial document without Kramer’s permission when he left the room to go to the bathroom. That meeting was held at the McCain Institute office in Washington, Kramer stated.

BuzzFeed infamously published the Christopher Steele dossier on January 10, 2017, setting off a firestorm of news media coverage about the document.

The Washington Post reported last February that Kramer received the dossier directly from Fusion GPS after McCain expressed interest in it.

In a deposition taken on December 13, 2017, and posted online earlier this year, Kramer revealed that he met with two Obama administration officials to inquire about whether the anti-Trump dossier was being taken seriously.

In one case, Kramer said that he personally provided a copy of the dossier to Obama National Security Council official Celeste Wallander.

In the deposition, Kramer said that McCain specifically asked him in early December 2016 to meet about the dossier with Wallander and Victoria Nuland, a senior official in John Kerry’s State Department.

Schiff signed form

Schiff’s signature appears on the required post-travel disclosure form filed with the House Committee on Ethics documenting the visit to Ukraine. The form signed by Schiff says that Eager’s trip to Ukraine was paid for by the “Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center.”

The form bearing Schiff’s signature (above) describes the visit thusly:

Series of meetings and visits with gov’t officials, party officials, civil society and private sector reps in Ukraine to learn about ongoing political and military issues, including conflict in the East.

The costs for Eager’s visit listed on the form are $2202.91 for transportation, $985.50 for lodging, and $630.15 for meal expenses.

Speaking to Breitbart News, Gonzalez confirmed that Eager started his one-year fellowship with the organization in January and that Eager is still a fellow.

Gonzalez said the pre-planned trip was part of the fellowship program, which also includes a full year of round tables and other educational events. She said it was not within her portfolio to comment on issues of funding from Burisma or other donors.

Burisma and Atlantic Council

Besides funding the Atlantic Council, Burisma also routinely partners with the think tank.

Only four months ago, the company co-hosted the Council’s second Annual Kharkiv Security Conference.

Burisma further co-hosted a U.S.-Ukraine Business Council event with the Council last year in Washington, DC. David Kramer of the dossier episode is a senior adviser to the Business Council.

Burisma and the Atlantic Council also signed a cooperative agreement to develop transatlantic programs with Burisma’s financial support, reportedly to focus “on European and international energy security.”

Burisma advertises that it committed itself to “15 key principles of rule of law and economic policy in Ukraine developed by the Atlantic Council.”

Common funding themes

Besides Burisma funding, the Atlantic Council is also financed by billionaire activist George Soros’s Open Society Foundations, Google, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Inc., and the U.S. State Department.

Google, Soros’s Open Society Foundations, the Rockefeller Fund, and an agency of the State Department each also finance a self-described investigative journalism organization repeatedly referenced as a source of information in the so-called “whistleblower’s” complaint alleging Trump was “using the power of his office to solicit interference from a foreign country” in the 2020 presidential race.

The charges in the July 22 report referenced in the “whistleblower’s” document and released by the Google and Soros-funded organization, the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), seem to be the public precursors for a lot of the so-called “whistleblower’s” own claims, as Breitbart News documented.

One key section of the so-called “whistleblower’s” document claims that “multiple U.S. officials told me that Mr. Giuliani had reportedly privately reached out to a variety of other Zelensky advisers, including Chief of Staff Andriy Bohdan and Acting Chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine Ivan Bakanov.”

This was allegedly to follow up on Trump’s call with Zelensky in order to discuss the “cases” mentioned in that call, according to the so-called “whistleblower’s” narrative. The complainer was clearly referencing Trump’s request for Ukraine to investigate the Biden corruption allegations.

Even though the statement was written in first person – “multiple U.S. officials told me” – it contains a footnote referencing a report by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP).

That footnote reads:

In a report published by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) on 22 July, two associates of Mr. Giuliani reportedly traveled to Kyiv in May 2019 and met with Mr. Bakanov and another close Zelensky adviser, Mr. Serhiy Shefir.

The so-called “whistleblower’s” account goes on to rely upon that same OCCRP report on three more occasions. It does so to:

Write that Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko “also stated that he wished to communicate directly with Attorney General Barr on these matters.”

Document that Trump adviser Rudy Giuliani “had spoken in late 2018 to former Prosecutor General Shokin, in a Skype call arranged by two associates of Mr. Giuliani.”

Bolster the charge that, “I also learned from a U.S. official that ‘associates’ of Mr. Giuliani were trying to make contact with the incoming Zelenskyy team.” The so-called “whistleblower” then relates in another footnote, “I do not know whether these associates of Mr. Giuliani were the same individuals named in the 22 July report by OCCRP, referenced above.”

The OCCRP report repeatedly referenced is actually a “joint investigation by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) and BuzzFeed News, based on interviews and court and business records in the United States and Ukraine.”

BuzzFeed infamously also first published the full anti-Trump dossier alleging unsubstantiated collusion between Trump’s presidential campaign and Russia. The dossier was paid for by Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee, and was produced by the Fusion GPS opposition dirt outfit.

The OCCRP and BuzzFeed “joint investigation” resulted in both OCCRP and BuzzFeed publishing similar lengthy pieces on July 22 claiming that Giuliani was attempting to use connections to have Ukraine investigate Trump’s political rivals.

The so-called “whistleblower’s” document, however, only mentions the largely unknown OCCRP and does not reference BuzzFeed, which has faced scrutiny over its reporting on the Russia collusion claims.

Florida’s Legislature Eyes Bible Classes and Prayer in Every Public High School, and the Bill’s Sponsor is Even More Shocking

And now for something completely different…

In Florida, legislators have introduced a bill requiring all public high schools to offer elective Bible classes covering the Old and New Testaments.

Furthermore, prayer would once again be permitted.

The bill’s sponsor, Rep. Kim Daniels, is the author of several faith-based books, including Prayers That Can Bring Change and Break the Power of Familiar Spirits.

House Bill 341 “requires each school district to offer specified courses relating to religion, Hebrew Scriptures, and Bible to certain students as elective courses.”

Additionally, it would allow a “brief meditation period” at every school in the state.

While the notion of kids praying and learning about the Apostle Paul in school may be surprising, perhaps even more double-take-inducing is the fact that Kim is a Democrat.

Eaze into it…there ya go.

And this isn’t her first effort at bringing some church to school: In March, she submitted a similar proposal requiring public high schools to offer Bible classes as electives. The stated purpose was to teach the Good Book, not as religion, but for its historical and cultural significance and role in the founding of American government.

That one was approved in an 11-3 vote. According to Orlando’s Fox 35 — some critics warned of lawsuits, whereas others said the courses should include Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism.

Kim is also the founder Spoken Word Ministries, Kimberly Daniels Ministries International, and Word Bible College.

Last year, she successfully got the state motto — “In God We Trust” — displayed in every Florida public school.

If passed, the law will go into effect in 2020.

Westlake Legal Group Mark-Sanford Can Anyone Guess the Crowd Size at the Kick-Off to former Rep. Mark Sanford’s Presidential Campaign? President Trump Mark Sanford's primary challenge to Trump Front Page Stories Featured Story elections donald trump Conservatives Campaigns Anna Orso Allow Media Exception 2020

Former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford (R) announced plans in September to launch a primary challenge against President Trump. And on Wednesday, he kicked off his candidacy in Philadelphia, PA. The number of supporters who showed up to share in this momentous occasion? One. Not a typo.

The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Anna Orso reported:

The bell in the Independence Hall tower rang at 9 a.m., and Mark Sanford took a deep breath. He grabbed a giant check for “one trillion dollars,” stood next to a tiny wooden lectern, and asked me if I was ready for him to kick off a news conference announcing his bid to challenge President Donald Trump in the 2020 Republican primary.

It didn’t really feel like a news conference. I was the only reporter there.

And when it began, the only others around besides his two aides were a family 30 yards away with a selfie stick and a group of students from Paris who wanted to know why he had such a big check. (Answer: It represented the burden of the national debt.)

Besides me, news conference attendees included two photographers — including an Inquirer photographer — and a 6ABC cameraman who showed up briefly. (“I’ll talk to about 250,000 people in just a second,” Sanford said to me as the cameraman approached with his tripod.) No other local TV station showed up to the kickoff spot, even though Fox 29′s studio is a block away. CBS3 and NBC10′s studios were within two miles of Sanford’s news conference.

Sanford told Orso, “Nobody knows me in Philadelphia. I get it. I think in life we all do what we can do, what’s within our power to have an effect. So we’re just sort of moving along as we go along.”

Orso said the sole supporter was the father of one of Sanford’s former students at the University of Chicago Institute of Politics where he became a teaching fellow shortly after leaving Congress. Bill Quinn, a retired lawyer and a Democrat, told Sanford that his daughter, a “progressive Democrat, admired Sanford for his integrity.”

Sanford told Quinn that he’s trying to contrast himself partly by tapping into that idea of integrity, and by expressing “empathy and humility.”

Sanford is perhaps best known for telling his staffers he would be away for a few days hiking the Appalachian Trail in 2009 while serving as South Carolina’s governor. For a period of six days, Sanford failed to check either his state or his personal phones. His actual destination, a visit to Buenos Aires to see his Argentinian mistress, soon became national news. That was ten years ago.

Today, one of the top hits on a google search of Sanford is a lengthy Wikipedia article entitled “Mark Sanford’s Extramarital Affair.”

In 2013, he ran in a special election for Rep. Tim Scott’s vacated seat (which Sanford himself had occupied in the 1990s) in Congress and won. After President Trump took office, Sanford became a very outspoken critic which likely sealed his defeat in his 2018 reelection bid.

His frequent condemnation of Trump came back to bite him. The President endorsed Sanford’s pro-Trump opponent in the 2018 primary and he lost.

Sanford becomes the third Republican to challenge Trump. The others include former Illinois Congressman Joe Walsh and former-Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld and none of them stand a chance.

CNN Video: Hopefully, Trump Dies Soon

Westlake Legal Group CNN-Text-Message-Alerts-e1490239895385 CNN Video: Hopefully, Trump Dies Soon project veritas media bias Media impeachment Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story Featured Post donald trump democrats Congress CNN Allow Media Exception

We brought you the story about how Project Veritas had videos from Cary Poarch, a man who was a contract employee with CNN. He took some pretty eye-opening video because he says he was upset about how CNN approached the news and he wanted people to return to reporting the facts, letting the people decide what to think about them.

Among the things the videos revealed was that their president Jeff Zucker directed CNN staffers to put all their focus into concentrating on impeachment.

They proved this, even putting out an ad that sounded like it was cheering on an impeachment inquiry, despite the fact that there hasn’t been a formal vote for an inquiry by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and she said yesterday that she doesn’t think there is a need for one yet.

But now Project Veritas has released even more video. And the attacks on President Donald Trump are even more pointed and disgusting. CNN employees talk about how they used to do news, but now, all it is, all the time is about getting Trump.

Townhall summarized some more of the comment that Project Veritas got.

Patrick Davis, Manager of Field Operations at CNN: “…I hate seeing what we were and what we could be and what we’ve become. It’s just awful…I mean, we could be so much better than what we are…And the buck stops with him (Zucker).”
[…]
Scott Garber, Senior Field Engineer at CNN: “We used to cover news. We used to go out and do stories…But Trump is more important.”
Adia Jacobs, CNN Technical Operations Supervisor: “When Zucker took over it wasn’t until Trump that we ended up being all Trump all the time.”
Nick Neville, CNN Media Coordinator: “He (Zucker) basically said f**k all the other stories.”
Mike Brevna, Floor Manager at CNN:“It’s the Trump Network, dog. It’s like everything is all Trump…they not even thinking about anybody else. They sold themselves to the devil.”

Perhaps one of the worst videos was that of Gerald Sisnette, a Field Production Supervisor, who said that he thought it would only get better when Trump was dead, which he hoped was soon. “This is a story that’s not gonna go away,” Sisnette said, referring to Trump coverage in general. “The only way this will go away is when he dies. Hopefully, soon.”

As James O’Keefe who heads up Project Veritas noted, Twitter even put a sensitive material warning on it.

O’Keefe queried CNN whether or not they condemned such comments.

But as Townhall notes, folks on the left have been so broken by Trump they’ve completely lost all sense of proper journalism. Not taking any bets that this will wake them up soon.

A Sensible Alternative Health Care Plan to Medicare For All Is Being Discussed

Steve Forbes Social Media republicans President Trump Politico Morning Briefing Media Healthcare for You Health Care Front Page Stories Featured Story donald trump democrats Congress Business & Economy biden Bernie Sanders Bernard Marcus Barack Obama Allow Media Exception 2019

A long time ago ( not really that long) in a country called the United States of America, a President and a Congress forced their fellow countryman into a plan called “Obamacare” that promised to lower costs and that you could keep your doctor.

That did not work out so well. In fact, the party that voted for that lost the majority in both chambers and a thing called the TEA PARTY REVOLUTION was born to roll that and other large government programs back.

Nine years later we still have Obamacare and healthcare is merely a talking point for the Republicans while the Democrats running for President push a thing called “Medicare For All” and take the issue back that they originally screwed up.

Well now a conservative group wants to reignite the discussion with less government is a better approach and they are launching an ad called Healthcare for You.

According to Real Clear Politics

With the presidential election year fast approaching, health care regularly ranks as one of the top issues for voters, and Republicans seem unprepared to create a contrast with their competition. Enter billionaire Bernard Marcus, co-founder of Home Depot and personal friend of Trump.

Marcus has funded a survey of more than 20,000 patients and doctors, other health care providers and small-business owners to develop a framework for a plan that his network hopes congressional and administration Republicans will adopt in time for the election. A product of the conservative Job Creators Network and Physicians for Reform, the blueprint is touted as a personalized plan to compete with Obamacare and Medicare for All.

They call it “Healthcare for You,” and they plan to spend a quarter-million dollars just rolling it out. The first television ad drops Thursday on the heels of the latest Democratic primary debate.

This has to be a multifaceted approach and I like that they will run features a spot of comic telling jokes about healthcare because it is a JOKE ( although not a funny one) what the very people who hoisted Obamacare on us. They broke it and now they want ot tell us how to fix what they broke.

If we needed to overhaul the whole system to kids could stay on their parents’ health care until 27 something is wrong with us.

Some of the proposal’s ideas include…

Changing the way health insurance is bought and sold and regulated by allowing patients to purchase coverage across state lines while giving states more regulatory power.

Lowering drug prices by targeting exemptions that currently allow pharmaceutical middlemen to skirt federal anti-kickback laws.

Creating personal health management accounts, akin to existing health savings accounts, to allow patients to pay for insurance premiums or care with pre-tax dollars.

Targeting medical malpractice laws to better protect physicians from frivolous lawsuits and excessive awards.

Maintaining protections for pre-existing conditions.

This is a good start and I’m happy that someone with a track record of success. Bernard Marcus is helping with this and Forbes CEO, Steve Forbes even tweeted his support earlier today.

The Democrats lied to the American people when they passed Obamacare in 2009 and the Republicans never had the will to overhaul it like the Dems did to pass it. This issue has been lingering on the back burner and it is long past time for conservatives to start having an open discussion on how to improve the system we have instead of the government overhaul the Dems are talking about.

Now is the time and whether or not you like Donald Trump, he just might be the guy to do the overhaul if given the chance.

CNN’s Latest Action Just Confirmed Impeachment Bias Shown In Project Veritas Video

Westlake Legal Group cnn-building CNN’s Latest Action Just Confirmed Impeachment Bias Shown In Project Veritas Video Trump media bias Media jeff zucker impeachment Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story Featured Post donald trump CNN Allow Media Exception

Project Veritas has been nailing CNN in the last few days with video from one of their contract employees at their Washington Bureau.

Poarch was so disgusted with the attitude he observed at CNN, he decided to go undercover and provide video to Project Veritas.

Among the videos is one that claimed Jeff Zucker, the president of the network, had a personal vendetta against President Donald Trump and wanted to spend all CNN’s time on impeachment.

While everyone has known that CNN pushes the left line despite claiming to be objective, it’s still pretty disturbing to hear them talk about it on video.

One of the videos has Zucker on a weekly morning phone call telling staffers that he wants them to concentrate focus on impeachment.

From Townhall:

“I want to stay with this, our top, top – our own reporters, our own political analysts, the top, the top [unintelligible] we have. Okay, so make sure we’re doing that. All these moves are moves towards impeachment. So, don’t – don’t lose sight of what the biggest story is.”
Zucker also says he doesn’t care about the whole gun control issue, he wants everybody focused on impeachment.

“I don’t care about the MSNBC event, OK? I don’t care about them. Let’s just stay very focused on impeachment,” Zucker said of an MSNBC gun town hall. “We shouldn’t just pretend, oh, this is going one way. And so all of these moves are toward impeachment.”

CNN isn’t officially commenting on the videos which pretty much tells you they’re accurate.

But there’s another thing that shows how accurate they are.

And that’s the release of this ad from CNN. Since when do “objective news” organizations release ads like this which basically looks like they’re promoting impeachment?

Of course there’s a small problem with this ad as well, for the “objective news” organization.

That’s that House Speaker in as much just admitted yesterday just as CNN put out the ad that there really isn’t an “impeachment inquiry” underway because she said she didn’t see the need for a formal vote yet.

There are a few reasons she doesn’t want the vote now. First, is she has nothing and it’s gotten less by the day as the whistleblower’s claims getting contradicted including by the people actually on the call as well as the transcript. Second, she doesn’t want to put Democratic representatives who are in pro-Trump districts on the line with having to vote in favor of impeachment. That means she knows A) it will be a problem for them and B) she would need their vote to proceed. Third, if she actually has a formal vote, that could afford the GOP rights because of the vote, the right to subpoena, cross-examine and call witnesses to debunk the witch hunt.

Westlake Legal Group maxresdefault-2-620x349 WATCH: Climate Change Protestors Learn a Hard Lesson About Blocking People From Getting to Work Video United Kingdom Trains Shocking Politics London insane Glue Front Page Stories Front Page Featured Story Extinction Rebellion Crazy Climate Change Beaten Allow Media Exception

Early this morning in the United Kingdom, climate change protestors dubbing themselves part of the “Extinction Rebellion” took to the streets. Some of them got the bright idea of climbing on top of the morning commuter trains, which effectively forced the city to stop running them. This left thousands of people stranded with noway to get to work and frustrated by what was transpiring.

Then things got a little rowdy.

If you watch the video, you’ll see the two protestors start to get pelted with what looks like coffee cups and other pieces of debris. Eventually, an angry commuter climbs up the side and pulls a man down into the crowd where he presumably gets pummeled (you can’t really see at that point).

It’s a pretty crazy visual, but not surprising. Trains are already a form of “green” energy, are they not? And you aren’t going to win any converts by stopping people from making money to to support their families.

And what is it with these people and glue?

This stuff is only hurting their cause. People don’t respond well to insane people invading their lives and forcing hardship on them.

Further, these protests are nonsensical. Do they expect to convince China to stop burning coal by gluing themselves to trains in the UK? Even if everyone these people interacted with said “you know, I see the light,” it still wouldn’t change anything.

All this comes back to the religious nature of the climate change movement. These people really think they can “save the world” and affect the climate. In reality, they’d be much better off using their time coming up with technological solutions to deal with any possible rise in temperatures over the next 100 years. Because the truth is, even if catastrophic climate change were real and wholly caused by man, there’s essentially nothing we can do about it.

This morning, I woke up to the news that Rep. Elijah Cummings had passed away from “longstanding health problems”. He was just 68. I was immediately struck by how young he was. I’d always imagined him to be older. Politics can age a person quickly, and Cummings had been a politician for the better part of his life. I suppose it was inevitable that he might age more quickly than the average male.

Opening Twitter, I braced myself for the onslaught of condolences, syrupy tributes, and ugliness. As usual, it did not disappoint.

As we spend the next few days memorializing Cummings, I think it is important to remind each other that we need not be ugly about a person in the immediate wake of their death. The instant flood of hate from the Left when prominent Republican figures like George Bush or John McCain die has always been repulsive. Conservatives have never been shy in saying so. So I find it particularly distasteful to see many self-proclaimed conservatives on social media today taking the opportunity to dunk on Rep.Cummings and express their disgust and hatred towards him.

Pardon my Canadian French but that is some tacky bullshit.

I understand that Cummings’ ideology was fundamentally different from his compatriots on the Right and none of us are ignorant of his most recent kerfuffle with President Trump himself. He was working to impeach the man. He did and said things that many find repugnant. Understood.

But let us not forget that Rep. Cummings also did many things that most good people would find admirable. Whomever he was when he died, we should not be so quick to dismiss the role he played in civil rights politics over the years. We sit in our comfortable homes on our pricey electronic devices playing “keyboard cowboy” and calling it activism. Cummings not only literally marched and fought for the restoration of constitutional rights to Black Americans, but he also lived through the era we now point to as one of our greatest successes.

Let us also not forget that he was a human being. In a statement following his death, Mrs. Cummings had this to say about her husband:

“It’s been an honor to walk by his side on this incredible journey. I loved him deeply and will miss him dearly.”

Please do not forget that in all this, someone has lost a family member. Someone is genuinely mourning. Someone is sad. In the daily grind of a 24/7 news cycle and perpetual outrage, it is too easy to forget that the public people we love to hate and hate to love are actually indeed just that…people. They have lives and people who love them. They have family dinners and date nights, church services and school events. When they’re not on the public stage producing soundbites they’re just doing the normal things the rest of us do every day. Whether or not their politics line up with our own is irrelevant. In death, men like Elijah Cummings deserve at least a brief moment of respect. Certainly their families do.

Conservatives who don’t seem to have any sense of irony have been taking gleeful shots at Cummings all day. As I write this, Rep. Cummings has been dead not even eight hours. It is understandable that he is not a respected man among some political groups, but that doesn’t mean it is appropriate to express glee mere hours after his passing. Even President Trump managed to summon up respectful condolences for the man who was determined to see him impeached.

It really is okay to simply offer condolences and move on with your day. There is absolutely nothing productive about insulting the dead while their families are making funeral arrangements. You can despise his job and his political role and still respect the qualities that made him a national figure in a time when Black men were not exactly welcomed onto the national political stage.

You can talk about all of the things you hated about him. Just wait. It’s not hard. It only takes a modicum of self-control. If you don’t have anything nice to add, then simply shut up about it for 24 hours, at least. That’s a thing you can do.

I will never understand the urge to dance on the grave of political opponents. You don’t have to participate in the glowing praise. You can simply choose not to participate at all.

The man is dead now. He literally has nothing else to say about politics, Trump, or anything. He has no influence. He can’t impeach anyone anymore. He can’t do anything. He’s dead.

Let him rest in peace for one frikking day before you put on your tap shoes and head for the cemetery.

For crying out loud.

Observations on the Spanish Civil War and Current US Political Fracture(s)

The US fought a bloody civil war in the early 1860s; Spain fought one in the late 1930s. The reasons and results for each were much different. One could argue that, while there is some residual animosity among American descendants about the aftermath of the Civil War – especially by some Southerners – there is ZERO threat of another North vs. South conflict in the US. That may not be the case between Left and Right. Are there any lessons to be learned for Americans stemming from the Spanish Civil War? Let’s take a look.

The Spanish Civil War was ideologically driven as much as by anything, as well as the chaos associated with the first Republican government. It pitted those who wished to modernize and democratize Spain versus those who wished to preserve the status quo. The political alignment and subsequent confrontation became fascists (Franco’s “Nationalists”) versus Communists and anarchists (“Republicans”). That, of course, is an oversimplification.

[The] Spanish Civil War, (1936–39), [started as a result of a] military revolt against the Republican government of Spain [and was] supported by conservative elements within the country. When an initial military coup failed to win control of the entire country, a bloody civil war ensued, fought with great ferocity on both sides. The Nationalists, as the rebels were called, received aid from Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany. The Republicans received aid from the Soviet Union, as well as from International Brigades, composed of volunteers from Europe and the United States.

The war was an outcome of a polarization of Spanish life and politics that had developed over previous decades. On one side, the Nationalist, were most Roman Catholics, important elements of the military, most landowners, and many businessmen. On the other side, the Republican, were urban workers, most agricultural labourers, and many of the educated middle class. Politically, their differences often found extreme and vehement expression in parties such as the Fascist-oriented Falange and the militant anarchists. Between these extremes were other groups covering the political spectrum from monarchism and conservatism through liberalism to socialism, including a small communist movement divided among followers of the Joseph Stalin and his archrival, Leon Trotsky.

Republican violence occurred primarily during the early stages of the war before the rule of law was restored, but the Nationalist violence was part of a conscious policy of terror. The matter of how many were killed remains highly contentious; however, it is generally believed that the toll of Nationalist violence was higher. In any event, the proliferation of executions, murders, and assassinations on both sides reflects the great passions that the Civil War unleashed. By March 28, 1939, all of the Republican armies had begun to disband and surrender, and Nationalist forces entered Madrid on that day.

The number of persons killed in the Spanish Civil War can be only roughly estimated. Nationalist forces put the figure at 1,000,000, including not only those killed in battle but also the victims of bombardment, execution, and assassination. More recent estimates have been closer to 500,000 or less. This does not include all those who died from malnutrition, starvation, and war-engendered disease.

Read the rest here.

This summary is fine as far as it goes, but it glosses over a lot, including the aftermath. The comment that Republican violence was primarily limited to the early part of the war until the “rule of law was restored” is disingenuous at best. The Republicans (many of whom were against the Catholic Church if not outright atheists) desecrated churches and other symbols of the “ancient regime” throughout the war. And the article is silent on the retribution practiced by Franco on Republican sympathizers after the war, too. While the signs of church desecrations still exist, they seem to have been largely forgotten in modern socialist Spain, although that may change with the current socialist push to disinter Franco’s corpse after all these years. Call it “reverse retribution” if you like.

Right vs. Left passions are still very much alive and well in Spain, as nearly everyone has a relative or three who fought (and possibly even died) on one side or the other. I happen to have two Spanish daughters-in-law (“nueras”). The father of one was a Spanish naval officer and Franco intimate while the grandfather of the other was a Republican sympathizer. To show you how convoluted the times were, the latter was forced to flee Spain because he owned property despite his Republican sympathies. The Republicans were against property owners and the rich in much the same way that the Bolsheviks were against kulaks and the rich in Russia/Ukraine. So he left his wife and 10 children and fled to France until the war ended. He died of cancer in France just months after being reunited with his wife, who had spent the war years trying to track him down.

Those killed on both sides were frequently buried in unmarked mass graves, with both sides using the practice for vengeance purposes. The winning side – the Nationalists – continued the animosity with retributions after the war. While visiting the Pyrenees last weekend, we visited a small deserted town called Jánovas situated on the Ara River. It seems that Franco wanted to reward the state electric company by authorizing a dam to be built on the Ara River below the town. The town’s residents were forced to leave their homes without much in the way of compensation under the Spanish version of “eminent domain.” Some houses had to be dynamited to evict resistant residents! Other small towns in the valley were similarly affected. Check out the pictures at this link for some before and after photos of what the town looked like.

The dam project was ultimately canceled after decades of lawsuits and protests, yet the town remains deserted although a few of the descendants have managed to reclaim their property and are rebuilding a few houses there. What does that sad situation have to do with Spanish politics? You see, the Aragon area was pro-Republican; building a dam on the Ara River and displacing a few Republicans was par for the course during the Franco years. And now with a leftwing government in Madrid, the socialists want to move Franco’s body as a bit of payback.

Spain’s Supreme Court has ruled that the remains of dictator Francisco Franco should be exhumed. It backed the Socialist government’s plan to move the remains from a state mausoleum to a less controversial site. An appeal by Franco’s family against the exhumation and proposing an alternative site was rejected. The issue has divided opinion in Spain, which remains haunted by the Franco era. He won the 1930s civil war and went on to rule Spain until 1975. In a unanimous ruling, the court said it had decided to “completely reject the appeal lodged by the family in relation to Francisco Franco’s exhumation”. In a tweet (in Spanish), Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez hailed the decision as a “great victory for democracy.”

Read the rest here. A “great victory for democracy”? That seems to be on a par with destroying the statues and monuments of Confederate generals, etc., in the US these days. So much for heritage and the lessons of history!

Which brings us to the underlying question posed earlier in this thread: are there any lessons learned from the Spanish Civil War for us Americans? There are some parallels and differences:

  • The Spanish Right (the military) instigated a coup to restore Spanish traditions. Would the US military act similarly if a socialist like Bernie Sanders managed to steal the 2020 election through massive and widely-apparent voter fraud?
  • The Spanish Right and Left took turns in pursuing retributions against their political opponents. What have American leftists (formerly known as Democrats) promised us conservatives in their various unhinged threats over the past 2.5 years or so? We are already being suppressed on social media and on college campuses just as Republicanism was suppressed in Spain after 1940. But would American leftists simply stop with suppressing our political speech? Hardly! Say “goodbye” to your guns, too. And likely more.
  • In Spain, Franco was the fascist, yet in America it is the Left who are fascists. Go figure! That means that political labels are arbitrary, and the reality is that both strains are simply authoritarians.
  • The Republicans in Spain (although fairly diverse politically) were led by virulently anti-church figures – the ones who actually called the shots during the civil war. The Christian Republicans could not stop the church desecrations and the murdering of Catholic clergy. The American Left are largely atheistic, too, although some purport to be adherents of established religions. Many do support their version of religion, i.e., the religions of secularism and environmentalism. The Left have pursued a secularization of American since the ACLU was founded by Communists in the 1930s. One could expect the aftermath of a second American civil war won by the Left to finish the job!
  • The Spanish Civil War was fought on a combination of ideological and economic grounds, but it was ideology that evinced the real passions that persist to this very day. A second civil war in the US will be ideologically based, with economics important for control purposes. The Left seek to “corrupto-socialize” the country while conservatives wish to preserve personal and economic freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution. Is there any doubt what any of the Democrats’ Star Wars bar scene would do if elected president?
  • The residual passions of the Spanish Right and Left continue to flare and motivate Spanish politics to this very day. There have been Communist marches in Madrid on various weekends for decades. Watching the parading red flags is almost a tourist attraction. At least the Spanish Left aren’t particularly violent – unlike their counterparts in the American Left, i.e., the violent arm of the Democrat Party knows as “Antifa.” Obama unleashed – and supported – the BLM crowd. Rest assured that any Democrat who wins in 2020 would give aid and comfort to Antifa to exploit them as a means of implementing leftwing policies.
  • The Spanish constitution doesn’t provide the same kind of safeguards and checks and balances as the US Constitution does. Their system of government is different, as well, and has been evolving since the Spanish civil war and end of the Franco dictatorship. The American Left would destroy the US Constitution and revert to the rule of men, not the rule of law. Spain endured a dictatorship of the Right for 35 years; any de facto dictatorship in the US created by the extremists in the Democrat Party would be interminable. The American Left seek to perpetuate themselves politically through voter fraud and suppression of conservatives throughout our cultural institutions. They also pursue discredited socio-economic policies that have failed everywhere they’ve been tried.

Perhaps we can learn a few things from Spain. I would argue that Spain’s movement toward socialism since the death of Franco in 1975 has been a failure. There will always be the “very rich” even in socialist countries like Spain. And then there is “everyone else.” The labor market is bad, wages are flat, and salaries are on the low end of the scale, with promotions difficult to come by. The public sector is where everyone wants to be because the private sector is taxed out the wazoo. It can’t last forever because the money eventually runs out (or is devalued to the point of ruination of the country). The seeds were sown in the Spanish civil war. And most Americans are clueless about it.

The end.
