The NRA defends gun rights, and guns prevent crime. Guns are also employed in crime, but how else might one stop that crime, if not with guns?

Yet, the National Rifle Association’s gone from a somewhat neutrally-perceived organization to the Essence of Evil. When and how did this become an accepted idea?

Word on the woke street seems to be the 2nd Amendment advocacy group is a devilchild, and I’d be willing to bet many believe that but don’t know why.

As I covered previously, 2020 hopeful Pete Puttigieg recently decried Beto O’rourke’s promise to steal America’s most-popular hunting rifles from the homes of its citizens (here).

Cory Booker didn’t like that, so he came up with a neat idea: Just say it isn’t what it is.

Presto-change-O.

Good as new-O.

Mayor Pete referred to the Beto’s plan as “confiscation,” and aspiring physical assaulter Cory used Twitter to revolt against the meaning of words:

“Calling buyback programs “confiscation” is doing the NRA’s work for them, @PeteButtigieg—and they don’t need our help.”

I hate to do this, but I will anyway — I’ll say what you already know:

1. It isn’t a “buyback” program because, given that we are not a socialist country, the government doesn’t own all products and means of production. You cannot “buy back” that which you did not sell.

2. “Buy” denotes a mutual transaction; confiscation does not. I’d love to “buy” the Knight Rider car for $20. Sadly, I will — at some point in my life — be forced to confiscate it. The joyride will be bliss, until KITT ignores me and I’m taken to jail in my black leather jacket.

And I could possibly find myself sitting next to a certain punk rocker who apparently’s got an itch to steal guns that he’s psyched to scratch.

A guy who didn’t much appreciate Pete’s putdown.

Here’s what Beto had to say earlier this month:

“I think [Pete] represents a kind of politics that is focused on poll-testing, and focus group-driving, and triangulating, and listening to consultants before you arrive at a position. I think our politics has to be about doing the right thing and saying the right thing.”

As reported by The Daily Wire, this isn’t Cory’s first time to defend forcibly taking firearms. Following September’s Democratic debate, he laid it out for reporters:

“You have to set up a system that is mandatory, you have to set up a system to pull them off, but this idea, this imagery that the fear-mongers and demagogues try to say of somehow armed police officers showing up and confiscating weapons — that’s the fear-mongering. And people trying to obscure and make people forget what we have done before as a nation with machine guns, what other nations have done with assault rifles.”

Of course, there are no “assault rifles” in this case, but hunting rifles that look particularly scary, in the same way that a black widow looks more menacing that a grandaddy long legs.

But no matter what you call it, they’re spinning a web of confiscation.

“Look, I hate when Democrats use the language that Republicans try to use to scare people away, as opposed to sort of the pragmatism and practicality of this.”

Said the spider to the fly.

Hunter Biden Confirms Joe Biden Is a Liar

You may recall a previous dust up between Joe Biden and Donald Trump in which the President shared a meme showing Biden insisting he had never discussed his son’s foreign dealings. In what was one of the better trolls of the year, Nickelback then came on singing “look at this photograph” while showing a picture of Biden, Hunter, and the executive from Ukrainian company in question.

If that wasn’t dispositive enough that the elder Biden had lied, we now have an even better source: Hunter Biden.

A “brief exchange” means Joe Biden was aware. There’s noway to get around that fact. Originally, he claimed he had never spoken to Hunter about it. At this point, it’s safe to call that a lie.

I first documented this contradiction based on another previous Hunter quote in an article back in September.

Now, there is no doubt. Hunter has once again confirmed he spoke with his father about the board position with Burisma. This would have come at the same time Biden was front manning foreign policy in the region. In fact, Hunter flew with his father on Air Force 2 to the area before he managed to land to gig. Just a coincidence I’m sure.

It was after that when Joe Biden pressured the Ukrainians to fire a prosecutor looking into Burisma by threatening to withhold aid (that was apparently not an impeachable offense at the time).

To put an even bigger capstone on this, Hunter Biden also admits in the interview that he was using his father’s influence to enrich himself.

Well, that’s obvious. I guess this is his way of checking his privilege?

The funny thing is, if you check blue-checkmark Twitter right now, all the “journalists” are sharing quotes like this.

It must be nice to be a Democrat. In an interview where Hunter confirmed his father lied, the valiant journalists among us are deciding to focus on Hunter’s denials instead, painting them as legitimate. Color me shocked.

This scandal isn’t going away. Biden should have just owned it from the beginning instead of painting himself into a corner. At this point, Elizabeth Warren has to be the presumptive frontrunner. Trump, for all his flaws, has managed to hang this around Joe Biden’s neck to devastating effect.

On Sunday, Missouri Senator Josh Hawley was in Hong Kong. Hawley is one of the major voices in the US Senate keeping the cause and plight of pro-Democracy demonstrators in front of the American people

While in Hong Kong, Hawley too the opportunity to warn about what he saw happening:

“…Hong Kong is in danger of sliding towards a police state and that representative government in Hong Kong is at risk, and that the one country two systems model is at risk.”

And he’s right.

We’ve watched as the local authorities have ratcheted up the pressure as more and more everyday Hong Kong residents are responding to the curtailment of their historical liberties by taking to the streets. Thousands have been injured. A couple of thousand have been arrested.

And the 800-pound gorilla, the People’s Liberation Army, has been beefing up its Hong Kong garrison under the guise of “normal rotations.”

An who can forget what China’s president said just yesterday?

Hawley’s observations were not welcomed in Hong Kong. Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam held a news conference to dispute Hawley’s characterization of where Hong Kong is headed.

I thought their visit to Hong Kong would enable them to see the actual situation in a comprehensive and objective manner. But unfortunately the feedback that I’ve got is most of them, or several of them coming here, they have very preconceived views about Hong Kong’s situation. That’s why for this particular senator to describe Hong Kong as becoming a police state is totally irresponsible and unfounded.

Senator Hawley fired back:

Hong Kong is at a critical juncture. The relative freedom experienced by it residents has become enough of a threat to Beijing that a decision was made to try to curb it and bring it closer to Mainland governance. Beijing has sort of painted itself into a corner here. If it backs down it looks weak. If it tries to suppress the demonstrations by force it knows that the entire world will have a front row seat. Hawley calling out the Hong Kong government for the dangerous path it has set for itself

Leftists Threaten to “Bring Out the Guillotine” If Theaters Show Jordan Peterson Documentary

Westlake Legal Group jordan-peterson-SCREENSHOT-620x349 Leftists Threaten to “Bring Out the Guillotine” If Theaters Show Jordan Peterson Documentary Violence threats Social Justice Radical Left Politics Movies mob Media Jordan Peterson Front Page Stories Free Speech Featured Story Fascism Culture & Faith antifa Allow Media Exception

Theaters in many locations are terminating their showing of the documentary “The Rise of Jordan Peterson” after receiving threats of violence.

According to The Stranger, showings in theaters in Toronto and Brooklyn had all been canceled due to complaints by staff that they were fearful of “getting in trouble.” It’s the kind of “trouble” that is seen whenever Antifa and violent leftists show up to impose their anti-fascist fascism on everyone present.

The film’s co-creator, Maziar Ghaderi was giving an interview to The Stranger when he received a text message from a pastor who had agreed to screen the film in his church after theaters refused to play it. He too had begun receiving complaints and threats.

One threat involved an “or else” kind of message, threatening that if he doesn’t obey then these radical leftists will “bring out the guillotine to fix society”:

“Fair warning,” it read, “several community organizations are planning to shut down your showing of the Jordan Peterson propaganda film. While many of us aren’t Christian and some even flat-out condemn the religion, we do not want any harm to come to your place of worship or those within. However, we cannot allow fascism to continue to rise and will not tolerate its presence in our city, whether it is on the streets or on the waterfront or in a church. Read some history books, read about eugenics, read about sex and gender and then compare it to Peterson. Pray on it if you must. Do the right thing. As much as we joke about it, we really don’t want to have to bring out the guillotine to fix society.”

Peterson, a Toronto clinical psychologist and professor, achieved international fame when he became a central figurehead in the conversation of ethics and his opposition to identity politics and political correctness. This put him square into the crosshairs of hard-left activists and protesters. This includes Antifa, who often utilize violence to silence political opposition.

The reason the hard-left becomes so vehement about Peterson’s silence is that much of what Peterson says makes sense, and as such, even members of the left find him appealing. Peterson is dangerous. He doesn’t just change minds, he changes hearts, and those are two things the radical left would like to own.

But it also exposes the weakness of their position. If they can only retaliate to Peterson’s words with violence for silence, then their arguments aren’t very good. Peterson has already won the debate.

While I doubt the radical left would pull out a literal guillotine (yet), I do believe they would resort to violence. The kind of violence that puts people in hospitals. Those screening the movie should continue to do so despite the threats, but make sure that security is a factor.

Speech shouldn’t be silenced, whether it’s Jordan Peterson or not, and shutting down showings of the movie isn’t going to progress anything forward.

You Don’t Have to Hump Donald Trump’s Leg to Recognize That Leaving Syria Is Our Best Choice

Syrian boys, right, sit on a pickup flash victory signs, as they pass next of a U.S. vehicle troops, left, on a road leading to the tense front line with Turkish-backed fighters, in Manbij, north Syria, Saturday, March 31, 2018. President Donald Trump’s unscripted public declaration this week about pulling out of Syria “very soon” while at odds with his own policy are unnerving for the Kurds in this context. U.S. troops first deployed in the area about 16 months ago, after Turkish-backed Syrian forces advanced on areas near Manbij, in a race for control of territories as IS militants collapsed. The deployment prevented repeated clashes between the two rival forces. (AP Photo/Hussein Malla)

A close friend of mine visited the D-Day Museum (now called the National WW II Museum) in New Orleans a few years ago. My friend has an encyclopedic knowledge of the D-Day landing. He’s the guy who can tell you what time each company level US unit’s landing craft dropped ramp on the beach. [A conversation with Mike might go like this: George Company, 116th Infantry? They went in on Omaha-Dog White. Ramp down at 0611. Right in front of an MG34 manned by the 352 Füsilierbataillon. They lost 2 officers and 37 men. The company won two Distinguished Service Crosses. Most ever by any infantry company on one day.*]  In short, he’s not a guy you want to f*** with because he can tell you where to go to get the data. He went through the museum and compiled a dozen or so pages of notes on errors in the exhibits He sent the director a lengthy email pointing out the errors and how they were a direct result of sloppiness, a lack of professionalism, and, quite possibly, the uncertain parentage of the director. He never heard back. Mike shared the email with a group of former Army guys (and a token Marine who is a West Point grad) I’m a part of and expressed his disappointment that the director had not answered  his missive. Another guy on the list, a now-retired multi-starred general, responded, “I agree, Mike, whenever someone I don’t know sends me an email telling me I’m either an idiot or a liar, I get right back to them.”

The point being, there are ways of convincing people who have common interests with you that they are in error and not all of them are going to be successful. Calling names and questioning the integrity and intelligence of those people has to be among the worst–particularly when it isn’t being done to deliberately troll the people you’re trying to convince.

Let me take that as a point of departure in considering today’s post by former RedState Editor-in-Chief Erick Erickson titled If You Could Stop Humping Trump’s Leg For Just a Minute, You Could See He Screwed the Pooch on This

Of course, the situation is more complicated than that and the President is not playing multi-dimensional chess. He’s just acting like a dumbass in this instance and now doubling down on stupid.

The PKK Kurds who are our battlefield allies in Northern Syria are, frankly, more loyal to us these past few years than the Turks have been, even without being part of NATO. By allowing Turkey in to kill the Kurds, despite the President’s lies now pretending his original statements never happened, the President has pissed off a terrorist organization that had actually been working with us. He’s going to create an Al Qaeda out of the Kurds like what happened with the Mujahideen in Afghanistan.

But wait…it gets better.

One of the things this group has been doing is ruthlessly fighting ISIS with us. In fact, they’ve been our ISIS jailers, or at least they were. They aren’t now. They’ve left the area or been killed. Turkey does not care about ISIS because when Turkey talks about wiping out the terrorists, they’re talking about the PKK, not ISIS.

So now ISIS can regroup. The PKK is making an alliance with Syria and Russia. Meanwhile, the Turks are firing at the United States’s positions in Northern Syria and a lot of Christians are going to die in the process. Yay for religious liberty.

The President of the United States, for reasons no one can really understand, decided he wanted out and wanted out immediately. Perhaps someone should have told him the withdrawal method is no more effective on the battlefield than it is in preventing pregnancy.

Our Syrian strategy has been deeply, deeply flawed. That is not the President’s fault. That is Barack Obama’s fault. But instead of bringing some rational order to the process, the President has brought even more chaos with this chaotic withdrawal. It is a chaos that will eventually find its way back to us.

All the President’s leg humpers are cheering this on as the President being bold, taking a stand, and bringing our troops home. The troops are still there, the President’s stand is more a half-assed leg raise by a Syrian shaped fire hydrant, and it is as bold as five year old off brand cayenne pepper. It is dumbassery with no logical explanation that defied the advice of all his senior advisers save for some idiot on Fox willing to get a lot of Americans killed in the name of ending endless wars.

This President got elected with a lot of people saying not to worry, he was surrounded by good people who would give him good advice. Most of those people fled the place and the President isn’t even willing to listen to the advice of the B,C, and D-listers around him now — let alone the few remaining Allstars. It’s going to be really hard to continue supporting a man who hasn’t ended endless wars, but endlessly inflamed war-torn areas with public policy dreamed up by a bunch of people banging on keyboards between the rebounds from humping his legs.

I don’t find this line of argument to particularly persuasive and a lot of the underlying assumptions are either counterfactual or highly arguable.

Before going further, read these by our own Mike Ford (note: no two infantrymen will agree on everything, if nothing else out sheer orneriness, but Mike is about 93% correct):

Syria Withdrawal Part I: The Right Decision

Syria Withdrawal Part II: Protecting (Our) Kurds

Syrian Withdrawal Part III: The Current Battlespace

Syria Withdrawal Part IV: Conclusion-Way Ahead

What the argument for staying in Syria presupposes is that there was actually some US interest in our presence there in the first place. There wasn’t. There isn’t. Our entire presence there is part and parcel of the Obama administration’s sucking up to the Iranians and helping them create client states from Iraq and Syria. It put us in the position of allying ourselves with Iranian militias, with the Iranian IRGC, with Bashar Assad, with al Qaeda offshoots, and with the PKK (which is a US designated terrorist group) and its YPG subsidiary to allegedly fight ISIS. Indeed, it has placed us in the position on not only being allies of a terrorist group, the PKK, but of the Kurdistan Regional Government, which opposes the YPG and has an economic boycott of the area under than group’s control.

Let’s stop here for a moment and try to answer why we were fighting ISIS? I’ve struggled with this for a several years and the only answer I can come up with is that they are Iraqis and Syrians with subpar personal hygiene and a terrible tailor. The fact that ISIS was opposed by Iran and by al-Qaeda should have been our first hint that maybe we should be buying popcorn. ISIS is a millenialist movement that was doomed from the beginning to burn itself out because these movements always do. In the meantime it was wreaking havoc with our enemies. There was no reason for us to collaborate with a terrorist organization that targets a NATO ally. For all the wailing about the loss of US prestige from us abandoning an “ally”–again, our only ally in this mess is Turkey who a lot of conservatives seem to want war declared upon by the same administration they were criticizing only last year for damaging NATO–by kicking PKK to the curb, that loss of prestige is dwarfed by the PR debacle we got from creating a set of circumstances that permitted the Turks and the Russians to honestly crank out reports about the US arming terrorists (both PKK and Syrian rebels, most of which are al-Qaeda affiliated). Just how, exactly, do we defend having US troops and the American flag present to honor members of a designated foreign terrorist organization who were killed by our NATO allies:

You can’t. There is literally no national interest of the United States that permits this much less requires it.

Bill Roggio, of Long War Journal, who has been immersed in the politics of the wars in Iraq and Syria for nearly two decades describes it this way.

@realDonaldTrump’s withdrawal from Syria is a big foreign policy mistake. The US is selling out yet another ally. But this was a mistake that predated Trump. US chose a poor ally. YPG is not the “poor Kurds” that the media makes it out to be. This is the PKK’s Syrian branch.

As I said above, I differ with many in that I think our foreign policy suffered much more by allying with terrorist groups than it will by us finally coming to our senses. But read on.

If you insist on pretending the YPG is not the PKK, here are photos of US Special Forces at a “YPG” funeral in 2017. Note the PKK and Oculan flags flying at the funeral, with US armored vehicles flying Old Glory in the background.

This is disgraceful. The PKK is a specially designated terrorist organization. The PKK is responsible for killing tens of thousands of Turks during a bloody civil war.

The US, under the advice and direction of @brett_mcgurk, chose the “YPG” (PKK) as its ally to fight the Islamic State. There was no consideration of Turkey’s very real national security interests and concerns.

Let me be perfectly clear: I’m no fan of Erdogan. He has and continues to support terrorist groups, and is using HTS to battle the PKK right now. But if Erdogan was not president and the Turkish military was in power, it likely would doing exactly what he is doing.

Ironically, @brett_mcgurk also whitewashed the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces, the Iranian backed Shia terror groups, as it battled ISIS inside Iraq. The PMF is now killing Iraqis who are protesting. We shouldn’t be shocked about what is happening there.

When the US, under the Obama admin, pulled support from the Iraqi Kurds (the real good Kurds), as the PMF rolled over them in Kirkuk and elsewhere, where was the media and “experts” outrage. @brett_mcgurk, who has been vocal about the current betrayal. was silent on that.

What is happening in Syria and Iraq today did not happen in a vacuum. These problems stem from a decade of bad foreign policy decisions. After withdrawing from Iraq as the Syrian civil war raged, the Obama admin wanted to outsource the war against ISIS…

So the Obama admin outsourced the war & chose terrible partners (PKK in Syria, PMF in Iraq). The US chose terror groups to fight terror groups (Iraq is a bit more complicated as the Iraqi military was part of fight, but Iraqi govt backed PMF & even made it a legitimate unit).

The @realDonaldTrump admin is not absolved. It has owned this problem for almost 3 years. Like the Obama admin, it made no effort to reform the YPG, make it drop its radical Marxist ideology, and convince the Turkish gov’t that it was important it to fight ISIS.

Instead, the US military and policy makers that continued to back the YPG/PKK kept kicking this can of problems down the road, without realizing the plug could be pulled at any moment. It was no secret Trump wanted to leave Syria. Why was no effort made to to mitigate this?

Context to how we got here is key. There is little context in today’s news reports on this topic. Most of it is vapid Trump-bashing. The YPG is treated as innocent Kurds when it is in fact the PKK. This problem was years in the making and did not appear out of the ether.

Why does the Trump administration own this now? Because for the past three years it let the ‘smart’ people, the people that Erick refers to the so-called A-listers that fetishize process and value continuity in foreign policy more than US national interests. Last December, Trump announced that we were leaving Syria, so it is hardly like this was an impulsive decision. It is one in which some of his advisers disagreed (I’m guessing Bolton and Mattis) but the root word of adviser is advise, not dictate. If Trump is going to own the bad decisions foisted upon him by really, really smart people then he should be allowed the freedom of making his own decision that contradict what has been nearly a decade of really bad decisions on Syria and Iraq.

The reasons that President Trump wanted out are amazingly simple. There is no US strategic interest advanced by placing US forces in Syria. There is no US national interest advanced by openly allying ourselves with terrorist groups. Absent an open war with a NATO ally, or absent having the ignominious images of US forces in the custody of Turkish forces flashed around the world (of course, we got over the images of US Navy ships and sailors being rounded up by the Iranians, so we’d live through it), the Turks were never, ever going to allow a PKK/YPG autonomous area to exist in Syria. No US national security is advanced by having conflicting alliances with the Kurdistan Regional Government and the PKK/YPG as eventually one of those partners was going to have to be dropped. No possible strategic end-state does not require the US to pull troops out of Syria and, consequently, the only argument here is over timing and those against withdrawing now must make a case why withdrawing next year or five or ten years gains us advantages over leaving now.

Now people who were, quite rightly, adamantly opposed to our involvement in trying to topple Bashar Assad’s regime and to the introduction of US forces into Syria while Obama was in office now going full metal Chicken Little at the thought that we’re leaving it. Just for five minutes, I wish a lot of people would stop seeing everything through the lens of President Trump and, more specifically, through that lens that declares anyone who agrees with President Trump on any subject to have done so simply because they are in thrall to Trump the man.  But I’m not holding my breath.

*The D-Day info about G/116 Infantry is nearly all made up for narrative purposes.

Sneak Preview of Project Veritas Part 2; CNN’s Evan Perez says Hunter Biden is Trading on Father’s Name, Looks Bad, Smells Bad

Westlake Legal Group 17329344-1af8-4a1f-8631-ab65d20076a0-1-620x317 Sneak Preview of Project Veritas Part 2; CNN’s Evan Perez says Hunter Biden is Trading on Father’s Name, Looks Bad, Smells Bad Front Page Stories Featured Story 2020

The China Syndrome

Just as he did on Monday prior to releasing the full Part 1 video of #ExposeCNN, Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe uploaded single clips of the most newsworthy exchanges.

This clip features CNN’s Senior Justice Correspondent Evan Perez saying, “Now I’ll tell you this. Joe Biden has a problem. Because his son was trading on his name. It looks bad, it smells bad. It’s not illegal. Nothing is illegal about it. (inaudible) I mean, you’re benefitting from your father’s name. You’re trading on his name.”

The whistleblower is heard saying, “Everybody does that, though.”

Perez replies, “Then that’s the problem. How do you go and say that ‘Donald Trump is the person, get him out of here’ and convict him when your son is doing the same sh**?

We have no idea if Hunter Biden did or did not commit a crime. We do know that he benefitted financially from his father’s position.

The more concerning issue is Joe Biden’s threat to withhold $1 billion of U.S. aid if the Ukrainian president didn’t fire then-Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin who was about to investigate his son “in the next six hours.” Although Biden maintains he wanted Shokin fired because he was corrupt and that it had nothing to do with son, that sounds rather unlikely.

During his interview with ABC News on Monday, Hunter Biden said:

In retrospect, look, I think that it was poor judgment on my part. Is that I think that it was poor judgment because I don’t believe now, when I look back on it — I know that there was — did nothing wrong at all. However, was it poor judgment to be in the middle of something that is…a swamp in—in—in many ways? Yeah.

So I take full responsibility for that. Did I do anything improper? No, not in any way. Not in any way whatsoever. Did I make a mistake based upon some ethical lapse? Absolutely not.

He did admit that Burisma would “probably not” have offered him a position on their board if his father had not been Joe Biden. He said, “I gave a hook to some very unethical people to act in illegal ways to try to do some harm to my father. That’s where I made the mistake.”

Democrat Proposes Bill to Make Mainstream Journalists an Untouchable Protected Class

The mainstream media’s long-running monologue became a dialogue upon the invention of the internet. Where they used to be able to tell a story to their specification without worrying about anyone exposing their lies, they now must contend with hundreds of citizen journalists wrecking their narrative.

First, mainstream journalists scoffed at the idea that anybody could do what they do, and once it turned out that anybody actually could, they began to play the victim card when called out for their lies. Then, upon the election of Donald Trump to the White House, they used that victim card with reckless abandon.

The people haven’t been happy with the mainstream media for a very long time thanks to the people calling out their misinformation, half-truths, and all-out lies. When Trump would talk negatively about the media, the people couldn’t help but cheer him on and join in on the fun of bringing them down.

It’s a large part of why mainstream news reporters developed such an advanced case of Trump Derangement Syndrom.

Democrats go hand in hand with mainstream media, and they aren’t too happy with people putting the mainstream press down either. After all, the press tosses them softball questions, runs their narratives, and essentially acts as sympathetic megaphones for them. Whenever the press looks bad, Democrats look bad.

So, as Democrats will do, they began looking for a way to silence the opposition. It’s an old tactic. In fact, it’s one they tried to use way back in the day with the “Fairness Doctrine” when radio show host Rush Limbaugh was obtaining his fame and adding a conservative voice to the leftist dominated airwaves.

New York Senator Richard Blumenthal isn’t concerned with fairness, though. According to him, he just wants people to stop opposing mainstream journalists.

Blumenthal recently proposed a bill that would essentially make defying a journalist a federal crime.

“There is a segment of the population that feels an antipathy toward the press that they express verbally, in threats, and also, at the extreme, physically in direct attacks on the press,” Blumenthal said. “What we have to address is the continuing threat of physical violence […] against the press that may intimidate them in their vital news gathering operation.”

You may say that this is only Blumenthal wanting to make threats and violence against reporters illegal.

The problem is that it already is a crime to threaten or cause violence to journalists because it’s a crime to threaten or cause violence to anyone. Blumenthal wants to ratchet up the punishments for anyone who does these things to journalists, essentially turning journalists into a protected class.

The bigger problem is the fact that what constitutes as a threat appears to be vague, but we can get an idea of what Blumenthal considers a threat to journalists by the fact that he points to the recent viral video circulating around the internet that has the press clutching its pearls.

The meme video is a clip from the movie Kingsman: The Secret Service, with Trump’s head superimposed on one of the main characters during a scene where he participates in a free for all inside a hate church. You see this “Trump” kill both his enemies in DC and the media.

The video clip was, to anyone with half a brain, clearly metaphoric in how Trump continues to claim victory over Democrats and the media. However, the media is in a panic, claiming that such a video would incite violence against journalists.

They don’t seem to care about all the things they create that encourages violence against Trump and his supporters, but they don’t seem to remember ever doing that.

So anyone who makes anything that journalists feel remotely threatened by will suddenly find themselves in trouble with the feds and likely thrown in jail.

That’s what we call “Orwellian.”

What this boils down to is Democrats running defense for a Democrat propaganda machine. It’s censorship, plain and simple.

Any Republican worth a damn will publicly laugh at this.

On Sunday, I covered Pete Buttigieg’s bless-his-heart-style swipe at Beto O’rourke over the punk rocker privileged millionaire who’s not at all in favor of privileged millionaires’s announcement that he’d “make…a priority” of taking away tax exemption from any church that doesn’t support gay marriage (here).

There was also a not-so-favorable mention of Beto’s fundraising techniques and aspirations toward hunting rifle thievery.

A tweeting Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez heard tell of such and, Monday afternoon, went to bat for Beto:

“Small-dollar grassroots campaigns, aka what Buttigieg insults here as ‘pocket change,’ out-fundraises him by millions. Our nation’s leaders should be working to end the era of big money politics, not protect it.”

How might a leader “work to end the era of big money politics”? Get small money? If they get small money, they’ll never be elected in order to do anything, much less end big money politics.

In politics, it’s easy to say things. Harder is to make sense, and even more difficult yet is to speak words with the distinction of having value.

Anyway, put on your mask and fins; we’re diving deeper into her tweet:

“& Beto’s gun policy isn’t ‘picking a fight,’ it’s taking a stand.”

It should be noted that the two aren’t mutually exclusive.

We have a man in the running for the Democratic nomination who’s literally promised to steal your hunting rifles. That’s an incredible line to have crossed, but he jumped right over it with a “Yeehaw!”:

I find it strange Beto didn’t realize he was saying to millions of Americans, “Whatever you do, make sure I’m never put in charge of anything.”

But he’s got his own style.

And AOC, apparently, is a fan.

Pete prefers something more tempered. As reported by The Daily Wire, in September, he touted small doable steps over impossible giant leaps:

“Look, right now, we have an amazing moment right here on our hands. We have agreement among the American people for not just universal background checks but we have a majority in favor of red flag laws, high capacity magazines, banning the new sale of assault weapons. This is a golden moment to finally do something because we’ve been arguing about this for as long as I’ve been alive.”

And he ain’t into Beto’s burglary:

“This is a policy disagreement, and it is about governing. I get it, I mean he needs to pick a fight in order to stay relevant. But this is about a difference of opinion on policy and my focus right now is getting something done.”

America is beset by violent crime; some of that is accomplished via guns, just as some is prevented by guns; violent crime with guns almost exclusively involves handguns; therefore, Beto will steal all people’s hunting rifles.

His own style indeed: the style of being a goofball.

And of this:

He could use a new stylist.

Schools Have Become the School Bullies, Are Now Arresting Children for Making Finger Guns

In a totally reasonable response to a child doing something they shouldn’t, a 13-year-old girl was arrested after making finger guns at four other students at Westridge Middle School in Overland Park, Kansas.

According to the Kansas City Star, the girl had been bullied for months according to her mother, Vanessa McCaron. At one point, they found her in the corner of the cafeteria sobbing by herself.

The Star reported that, upon being asked by a classmate who she would kill in school if she had the chance, the girl pointed at other students with finger guns. She was promptly sent to the office where she was then arrested by the school’s on-duty police officer and charged with felonious threatening:

A school resource officer, employed, by the Overland Park Police Department, would have handled the arrest, Smith said. The department said it could not discuss the case.

But according to Johnson County District Court documents, on Sept. 18, the girl “unlawfully and feloniously communicated a threat to commit violence, with the intent to place another, in fear, or with the intent to cause the evacuation, lock down or disruption in regular, ongoing activities …” or created just the risk of causing such fear.

McCaron pleaded with the officer to not arrest her daughter, but the officer wouldn’t relent according to the Star:

“He said, ‘I will press charges against anyone who I think has broken the law,’” said McCaron, who contacted The Star following Wednesday’s initial story about the incident. “He had such a great opportunity to use his badge to change something in a child, but he chose not to,” she added. “I think this is an insane abuse of power.

The mother has reassured everyone that her child is “anti-gun” and that she would never harm anyone despite the constant bullying she endures.

So many things have gone wrong here.

For one, the girl is apparently bullied by cruel children to the point where she’s sobbing in corners, and yet no one wants to take action until she makes the shape of a gun with her fingers. An abuse of authority takes place in her arrest, all out of fear that the child’s “finger guns” are indicative of a greater oncoming threat. She’s put into handcuffs, doubtlessly further scarring the child emotionally.

Meanwhile, her bullies are going unpunished without a hitch.

What would have happened, if the adults in the room had their senses about them and had simply sent the girl to the principal’s office to talk with her? Upon speaking to her about the incident, they likely would have found that this girl would not have hurt anyone, but did have a reason for doing it.

Upon investigating this reason, a better course of action would have taken place. Perhaps they could be more on the lookout for bullying behavior from students and/or institute harsher punishments for those who do bully their fellow students. They could have helped this girl by giving her emotional support and making her very dark world appear a little brighter.

Instead, the school and local authorities joined in on the bullying.

I get that many schools are jumpy thanks to school shootings in the past, but abandoning every lick of sense and compassion because someone remotely perceives a threat is not going to make the situation better. In fact, this kind of abuse and isolation is how these killers are created.
