The New Batwoman Show Is Bombing and Once Again, SJW Journalists Blame the Wrong Thing

Westlake Legal Group Untitled-4-620x373 The New Batwoman Show Is Bombing and Once Again, SJW Journalists Blame the Wrong Thing Women Television Social Justice Sexism Propaganda Politics LGBT homophobia Front Page Stories Entertainment DC Comics CW batwoman Arrowverse

If you’ve watched any of the CW superhero shows, then you kind of know what you’re in store for. It’s a lot of people dressed up in costumes from the DC comic universe essentially playing out a soap opera.

Unlike the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which only includes drama as a subplot to the main story of fighting bad guys and saving the world, the DC television universe — dubbed the “Arrowverse” after its flagship show “Arrow” — centers around drama, essentially making it the exact reverse of the MCU. It can feel like a slog for people looking for a superhero show to enjoy.

What’s worse is that the shows on the CW seem to have fallen to the problem of becoming programming that scratches a very hard-left itch. The shows are filthy with social justice messaging and left-leaning talking points. The Super Girl television show, for instance, has done everything from promoting anti-gun messaging to hinting not-so-subtly that Donald Trump is a racist.

It would appear that the Batwoman television show looks to follow that very same path. While the pilot episode didn’t push social justice messaging as hard as the trailer for the show implied, it still pushes it. In fact, many people have surmised that Batwoman is DC’s response to the MCU Captain Marvel with Brie Larson due to all the “girl-power” and anti-man messaging the show contains.

You can watch the trailer below and see for yourself.

You can probably guess how the reviews went by this point.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the critics couldn’t stop raving about it. Meanwhile, the audience score is beyond dismal. As of this writing, Batwoman has a 72 percent critic score and only a 10 percent audience score.

Westlake Legal Group Capture-5-620x332 The New Batwoman Show Is Bombing and Once Again, SJW Journalists Blame the Wrong Thing Women Television Social Justice Sexism Propaganda Politics LGBT homophobia Front Page Stories Entertainment DC Comics CW batwoman Arrowverse

As a response, the left is already making the excuse that the reason everyone hates Batwoman is that she’s a woman, and a lesbian to boot! Horror of horrors!

Forbe’s Paul Tassi, for instance, didn’t even try to hint his way around the issue. He straight up accused many people of being sexist for their dislike of the show:

On IMDB you can only see usernames, but on Rotten Tomatoes they at least have first names listed for fan reviews, and sometimes photos. Of the first 100 reviews I counted, 95 appear to be written by men. Two of the five women gave it a positive score, the only two positive scores I saw out of all 100. I could probably keep going, but I’m guessing the ratio would remain roughly the same.

I am definitely not saying that Batwoman is some masterpiece, but it does not take the World’s Greatest Detective to figure out what’s happening here, even if many of the negative reviews don’t reference sexuality or politics. Batwoman is certainly no worse in the script and action department than the early episodes of these other Arrowverse series, and yet I never saw any of them lambasted to this degree.

This is a constant callback for leftist culture reviewers who find themselves in the position of having to defend a show or movie that has received negative audience scores. Those who hate a show or movie with a woman lead or that glorifies things social justice advocates hold as holy are only doing so because they’re racist, or homophobic, or sexist, or (insert “ists” and “phobes” here).

Each time this happens, moviegoers everywhere — including yours truly — point out that it’s not the race or sex that causes people to dislike a show. If that were the case, then there are so many franchises, movies, and games that are cherished by the general public that would be despised. Alien, Metroid, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Hunger Games, Wonder Woman, and Terminator all had female leads that fans the world over adore.

So it must be a completely different reason, and that reason is very obvious.

People hate being preached to about things they don’t believe in.

Batwoman sold itself entirely on the premise that she is a social justice hero, and because of that, the show has been geared toward highlighting this political stance. The plot, the action, and more are all geared to promote that idea. This makes for a very boring show that frankly, no one wants to watch.

Add to that the fact that the vast majority of people don’t fall in line with social justice advocacy due to its high level of bigotry, racism, and sexism, and you have a show that just straight up disgusts people.

People don’t care that the lead is a woman. They care that you’ve created a boring show that promotes philosophies and stances that people disagree with. What’s more, this was done in a superhero format. People watch superhero media because they want to see amazing concepts, not watch as they sit around and discuss their feelings on the LGBT community while wearing tights.

Exploring the psychology of a villain or hero can work wonders in both comics and movies — I think Todd Phillips proved that with Joker — but even that is something that many readers would find a fascinating character development, which lends to the story.

Nobody is fascinated by another pro-LGBT writer talking about how everyone is mean to gays, lesbians, and trans people. Nobody is glued to their seat while some out-of-touch writer on the coast tells them they’re racist through a character in a mask. Few people can relate to this, mostly in part because the vast majority of people aren’t racist or homophobic.

It ain’t the woman that’s the topic, it’s the show’s driving principle of putting politics before story.

It’s propaganda. Not entertainment.

Bloomberg News Tries to Gin up a New Trump Scandal and Falls Flat on Its Face

Yesterday, Bloomberg took a run at creating its very own Trump scandal with a story headlined Trump Urged Top Aide to Help Giuliani Client Facing DOJ Charges.

President Donald Trump pressed then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to help persuade the Justice Department to drop a criminal case against an Iranian-Turkish gold trader who was a client of Rudy Giuliani, according to three people familiar with the 2017 meeting in the Oval Office.

Tillerson refused, arguing it would constitute interference in an ongoing investigation of the trader, Reza Zarrab, according to the people. They said other participants in the Oval Office were shocked by the request.

Tillerson immediately repeated his objections to then-Chief of Staff John Kelly in a hallway conversation just outside the Oval Office, emphasizing that the request would be illegal. Neither episode has been previously reported, and all of the people spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the conversations.

The White House declined to comment. Kelly and Tillerson declined to comment via representatives. Another person familiar with the matter said the Justice Department never considered dropping the criminal case.

Zarrab was being prosecuted in federal court in New York at the time on charges of evading U.S. sanctions against Iran’s nuclear program. He had hired former Attorney General Michael Mukasey and Giuliani, who has said he reached out repeatedly to U.S. officials to seek a diplomatic solution for his client outside the courts.

The context of the request is that Zarrab is a Turkish citizen and Giuliani was working with Tillerson to try to broker an exchange of Zarrab for imprisoned pastor Andrew Brunson.

So to recap the scandal.

  • This is early 2017.
  • Giuliani has Reza Zarrab as a client and at the time had no official connection to Trump.
  • Turkey is holding American Andrew Brunson and has expressed an interest in trading him for Zarrab.
  • Trump floats it idea to Tillerson that he should approach Jeff Sessions to have charges dropped so the trade can happen.
    Tillerson says no.
  • Tillerson tells Chief of Staff John Kelly no.
  • Tillerson never talks to Sessions about it.
  • Trump never talks to Sessions about it.
  • Zarrab goes to jail.
  • Nearly two years later, Brunson is released.

Should Trump have asked Tillerson to do this? I don’t know why not. Federal rules are not the same as private sector rules and the request parallels the same request Trump made of Comey in regards to Mike Flynn. Tillerson told him it was improper and the matter was dropped. Yes, the guy in question was a client of Giuliani’s but the real story is that swapping Zarrab for Brunson was already being considered by State and the only impediment was his indictment. If Trump had really been interested in helping Giuliani while using Brunson as cover, he could have announced a pardon for Zarrab. Ironically, had this story been changed just a little–Tillerson proposing pardoning Zarrab to facilitate a swap and Trump declining because it would be improper–the same assclowns who are upset over this would be using that story as an example of how Trump doesn’t care about everyday Americans.

This is just another great example of what passes for journalism these days. But it fits in well with the Bloomberg’s calculated political hit on Department of Labor official Leif Olson whose Facebook posts they edited to make him appear to be anti-Semitic.

Where in the past we’ve all joked about the media being an arm of the Democrat party, now it is becoming obvious that they are actually, literally, an adjunct to that party. They’ve protected Joe Biden on his Ukraine dealings and now they are trying to protect Elizabeth Warren from her lies about being fired from teaching because she was pregnant. These people are not to be trusted or believed on anything, no matter how insignificant the subject may be.

On the Democrats’ Favorite New Word – “Pattern”

Westlake Legal Group 2zr8u6-1-620x416 On the Democrats’ Favorite New Word – “Pattern” Uncategorized Politics political rhetoric journalism Impeachment of President Trump Front Page Stories Featured Story fake news donald trump democrats Democrat playbook Democrat Lies Democrat hypocrisy crooked Democrats corruption

Have you picked up on the Democrat/media narrative about the supposed nefarious patterns of President Trump’s activities and behavior lately? That’s their latest strategy to “Get POTUS” as we will see. How do they use the word “pattern”? Let us count the ways:

  • Here is a 2017 comment from the execrable James Clapper (who just fingered Obama for directing the FBI counter-intel investigation into the Trump campaign in 2015-16). He says the president displays a pattern of attacking institutions/people who threaten him.
  • Here is a 2018 comment from a former Obama federal prosecutor (hack) stating that the President’s actions investigating opponents are “part of a pattern” and “a new threshold.”
  • Here is a Don Lemon comment from April 2018, stating that the President’s comments about sanctuary cities and “breeding concept” are part of a racist pattern.
  • Here is one from a Bloomberg article in July 2019, again referring to his supposed “bigotry” against House Democrats as part of a pattern of racism.
  • The ever-reliable Democrat hack Fareed Zakaria claimed just last month that the President supposedly pressured foreign governments to dig up dirt on his political opponents as a “pattern of violation of democratic norms” (a new one on me!).  Note: this last one is just an example of the latest hysteria from Democrats and legacy media trying to obfuscate the ongoing DoJ investigation into the predicate for the Obama-instigated counter-intel investigation into the Trump campaign that leads straight to Ukraine.
  • NPR got into the pattern game in June 2019 with an article about POTUS’s supposed pattern of appointing acting heads of various federal agencies. Like that’s supposed to be a bad thing when Senate Democrats hold up every nominee for political reasons only!
  • A final example is this horrible opinion piece filled with innuendo from the virulently anti-Trump The Atlantic accusing the President of a pattern of behavior that abuses his presidential powers to advance his personal agenda.

The Democrats’ latest patterns gambit involves accusations from a supposed intel community leaker that the President abused his powers, abused his office, etc. The problem is that there isn’t any legal definition of what those phrases mean. “Abuse of power” is subject to interpretation, and depending on the person doing the defining, is highly susceptible to misuse for partisan concerns. It’s just the sort of phrase useful for Democrats in spinning up their intensely partisan impeachment campaign against POTUS.

The Democrats seek to convince us that the President displays all sorts of evil patterns of behavior, but the worst and most egregious is “abuse of power” and use of his office for political gain. These are allegations without evidence in much the same manner as the Russia hoax was. After two exhausting years, we learned that the Russia investigation was based on false allegations and a politically-contrived hoax from the very beginning. The “Russian dossier” was nothing but opposition research infused with Russian dezinformatsiya as explained here.

The Democrats tried to lynch Brett Kavanaugh during his USSC confirmation hearing in the Senate by accusing him of displaying a pattern of sexual harassment and abuse over a period of years based on unsubstantiated claims by multiple women and breathless media reporting. We learned that was a Democrat-run conspiracy, political hit-job, and a hoax, too. And now we are embroiled in yet another Democrat-run conspiracy and political hit-job: the Ukraine leaker complainant (times 2, or will there be even more leakers/”whistleblowers” walking the plank?). The baseball analogy is that the Democrats would have three strikes and be “out” now, but unfortunately, it’s politics, and the Democrats repeat their tactics endlessly until shoved back down their throats.

Speaking of which, it looks to me like the Democrats are the ones with the nefarious patterns, as these three hoaxes followed exactly the same repeatable process: unsourced leaks from “trusted agents” turned into breaking news allegations against a Republican, massive Democrat legal and legislative coordination with those making the allegations/claims, a continuous stream of Democrat/media announcements of additional unsubstantiated allegations (lies) that appear to enhance the original claim, calls for investigations based on those false allegations, a shifting to investigations of process crimes when the original allegations are debunked, leaks from sources in intelligence and/or law enforcement agencies that claim cover-ups or support the false allegations, heavy use of paid Democrat political operatives to dig dirt and move the narrative forward, and outright lying by elected Democrats at every opportunity to impact public opinion favorably in their favor.

All three hoaxes – Russian, Kavanaugh, and Ukraine – have included EXACTLY the same components and processes, and all are Democrat-run partisan hit-jobs. It sure seems like a nefarious pattern to me!

Others are starting to pick up on Democrat patterns, too. Here’s what FNC contributor Greg Jarrett has to say about Adam Schiff, the Democrat at the center of both the Russian and Ukraine hoaxes:

I was continually astonished by Schiff’s pattern of exaggerations, misleading claims and outright lies over the course of the interminable Russia “collusion” hoax.

  • Schiff peddled the ludicrous charge that Trump campaign adviser Carter Page was bribed by the Kremlin with an $11 billion stake in the oil company Rosneft in exchange for convincing then-candidate Trump to lift sanctions against Russia should he win the election.
  • Schiff insisted that Justice Department official Bruce Ohr did not show the Steele “dossier” to the FBI until after the 2016 election when he knew that Ohr turned it over in July — the day before Comey’s FBI launched its formal investigation of Trump.
  • Schiff argued to anyone who would listen that the “dossier” was not the bulk of the evidence used to get the FISA warrants when he well knew this was untrue.
  • Schiff boldly and repeatedly told the media and Americans that he had access to a wealth of evidence that Trump had engaged in a traitorous conspiracy with the Kremlin when no such evidence existed.

Read the rest here.

Yep, ol’ Shifty is displaying his own pattern of behavior, isn’t he? The Democrats unmask themselves every day if we will just listen to what they say and connect the dots over time – and disregard the legacy media’s narrative. Their goal is impeachment of a sitting president through innuendo and unproven allegations. They even stooped to having their bureaucratic operatives change the intel community whistleblower rules to allow unsubstantiated second-hand rumors as valid complaints!

Creation of a perception of “evil” patterns of actions taken by the President is all part of the political orchestration of public opinion by Democrats and their lickspittle media allies in search of polling numbers behind which they could hide to vote for impeachment in the House of Representatives. We need to remember that the Democrats practice transference all the time. They are transferring their own abuses of power to the President in this latest Ukraine charade. They are precluding any minority participation in any part of the process – for appearance and control purposes. And we can’t let them get away with it.

Frankly, I’ll take more of President Trump’s REAL patterns any day of the week:

  • His pattern of appointing conservative judges to the federal courts to the consternation of the Democrat Party who have been advancing their political agenda outside the legislative process through lawfare for years.
  • His pattern of supporting pro-life activities and making pro-life public statements to the consternation of the Left and the consternation of rabid third trimester-supporting Democrats everywhere.
  • His pattern of taking actions to deliver on his campaign promises to the consternation of the political class (both parties!).
  • His pattern of upholding federal immigration laws and seeking innovative ways to get around Uniparty resistance in building the Wall.
  • His pattern of confronting the long-standing unfair trade practices of foreign competitors like China to the consternation of the globalists in Congress and elsewhere.
  • His pattern of supporting lower taxes and cutting stifling regulations in order to fuel the American economic engine to the consternation of socialists in the Democrat Party who thought that all they needed to do was “manage our decline.”
  • Finally, his pattern of going after corruption wherever he finds it, whether in Democrat-run cities like Baltimore or in far-flung places where Democrat nepotism and corruption is on display such as Ukraine and China to the acute consternation of the Democrat Party who colluded with foreign operatives to steal the 2016 election, and that gambit having failed, to attempt to impeach a duly-elected president of the United States.

And it’s that last pattern of behavior by the President that has the Democrats, their allies in the Deep State, and their paid operatives in the legacy media fouling their drawers these days. They will always tell us whom and what they fear most by their shrillness, folks. Take a guess about whom and what they fear now!

The end.

NC Democratic Rep. Wins ‘Breakthrough’ Award Based on Something She Didn’t Do at Infamous 9/11 House Session

North Carolina State Rep. Deb Butler (D-New Hanover) erupts during a House session on 9/11/19. Screen grab via the Associated Press.

Last month, I wrote about how the Washington Post and a number of other mainstream media news outlets were responsible for spreading fake news about a North Carolina House session that took place on 9/11 in which the Republican majority overrode Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper’s budget veto.

The national news outlets erroneously reported that the vote was deliberately held while numerous Democratic state legislators were at 9/11 remembrance ceremonies. The reality of it was that only one House Democrat is on record as not being at the General Assembly due to attendance at a 9/11 memorial.

What was also widely reported at the time was how one Democratic state legislator – Deb Butler – erupted on the House floor, claiming Republicans had tricked Democrats into not attending the session, which allowed for the veto override to take place (Republicans do not have a veto-proof majority in either chamber). While on the House floor angrily clutching the microphone, Butler yelled “I will not yield!”

It became a rallying cry for Democrats.

While it’s not true that Republicans “lied” about legislative business that was to take place that morning, Butler was applauded in Democratic circles and rose to national fame thanks to appearances on and interviews with news outlets like MSNBC.

Because of this, the Victory Institute, which is an LGBTQ PAC, nominated Butler for the Tammy Baldwin Breakthrough Award. Baldwin, a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, is the first openly gay Senator, according to the group. Here’s what the Victory Institute said about Butler’s nomination:

As the Democratic Whip of the North Carolina House, Deb Butler is a warrior for North Carolina’s LGBTQ community. Under the rallying cry of “I Will Not Yield,” Butler recently derided Republicans’ underhanded voting tactics, even resisting arrest to pursue justice. During her time in the House, she has fought for causes ranging from fair districts to common sense gun reform.

It was announced Wednesday that Butler won the award (hat tip: A.P. Dillon).

But here’s the kicker: Butler did not “resist arrest.” There were claims that some of her fellow House Democrats were surrounding her to “protect” her from the police, but the claims are both laughable and absurd. You can see law enforcement in the background of the below video, but they were there in case a fight broke out, because things were pretty tense that day. Watch:

I pointed this out to Victory Institute:

Democrats who are reading this don’t just have to take my word for it, either. Journalist Colin Campbell, who covers state politics for the NC Insider and the Raleigh News and Observer, pointed out at the time of her nomination that at no point did she face arrest:

Not only did she not “resist arrest”, but her attempt at “resisting” a veto override ultimately backfired, as North Carolina radio talk show host Pete Kaliner points out:

Fact check: True, according to the News and Observer.

Butler might be a leader in the LGBTQ community, but her “resist” moment (which she won the award for) failed spectacularly because Democrats on the House floor did not know the rules. As a result, Republicans in the House overrode the veto.

Rep. Butler has not acknowledged this inconvenient fact, nor has she corrected the false “resisted arrest” claim for the record. As a result, I was left with no choice but to correct it for her.

Sorry not sorry, Deb.

South Park Doubles Down On Its Anti-China Stance for Its 300th Episode

Westlake Legal Group badb0ef8-f273-45d7-bae5-40dca9207c3c-620x317 South Park Doubles Down On Its Anti-China Stance for Its 300th Episode Television south park NBA Matt Stone and Trey Parker Front Page Stories Entertainment comedy China Censorship Blizzard

I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the 300th episode of a show than by telling the people trying to keep you censored what you think about them in a very public way.

When last we left off with the feud between the totalitarian government of China and the creators of the animated show South Park, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, China had banned any trace of the show from the country. This is because Stone and Parker dedicated an entire episode to mocking China’s censorship and the willingness of American corporations to bend over to capitulate to it.

After being banned, Stone and Parker offered a sarcastic apology to China, showing that they won’t be caving anytime soon.

Or ever.

(READ: South Park Creators Matt Stone And Trey Parker Gave China The “Apology” It Deserves)

Now, for their 300th episode “SHOTS!!!,” Stone and Parker are turning their “apology” into a one-two punch.

The episode primarily revolves around character Eric Cartman’s refusal to get an immunization shot and the town’s efforts to force him to get one, but a side-plot involves character Randy Marsh’s struggles with everyone’s anger with him for working with China to sell weed in the previous episode.

Near the end of the episode, Marsh is confronted by his business partner Towelie, who tells Marsh that unless he stops working with China, then he’s out.

Stone and Parker have a way of using their storylines in order to get real-world messages across and use Towelie as a vessel to state that they aren’t going to work with China at all.

“I’m never working for a company that’s regulated by a communist government,” Towelie tells Marsh.

Marsh agrees to stop selling to the Chinese, but Towelie isn’t satisfied and forces Marsh to say “F**k the Chinese government” out loud.

Marsh first says it quietly, then at Towelie’s prompting, says it even louder.

“F**k the Chinese government! There!” yells Marsh.

You can watch the entire episode for yourself for free by following the link below.

Right now, many companies such as the NBA and the gaming company, Blizzard, are publicly capitulating to the Chinese government, censoring any mention of support for Hong Kong. The NBA kicked out two fans at a Sixers game for holding up a “Free Hong Kong” sign, and Blizzard continues to censor players who support Hong Kong as well by suspending or banning them from championship games.

Many have seen South Park’s approach to China as the true response that should be given in the event of China’s attempts at censorship of a company. A very public and resounding refusal to cooperate.

Dear Tom Cotton, Please Don’t Play Failure Theater With a Recalcitrant IC IG

On September 26, the IC IG, Michael Aktinson, made an appearance before the Senate Intelligence Committee on the subject of the notorious phone call between President Trump and Ukraine President Zelensky. This is conversation that had created an epidemic of fecal incontinence among the left and our betters on the right. Apparently, the testimony he gave was unsatisfactory. It was made even more unsatisfactory by Atkinson refusing to answer some questions by senators but traipsing over the the House and dishing there. Senator Tom Cotton was not pleased. (By the way, let me note here for all the goobers who are still giving The Federalist a hard time over its story on the modification of the IG’s whistleblower intake form and claiming the story was “debunked”–leftist code phrase for “this fact is really inconvenient to my narrative”–one on the items in Cotton’s letter is Atkinson’s refusal to explain the modification.)

tom cotton letter to IG

Pretty strong stuff. When you’re characterizing an IG’s testimony as “disappointing,” “insolent,” and “obstructive” something is terribly amiss. And I must admit that the actions of Atkinson in this affair lead me to believe that he’s an active participant in this latest attack on President Trump. The whole “Trump appointed” moniker that is hung on Atkinson to make it seem as though he’s some sort of Trump loyalist is just bullsh** and obfuscation. Atkinson’s roots are in the same DOJ National Security Division that is ground zero of the Russia Hoax.

(READ: Did The Intelligence Community IG Actively Aid The “Whistleblower” In His Impeachment Quest)

For all of the good points Cotton makes, though, one is left with exactly the same feeling one used to get every time Mitch McConnell would fulminate about how evil it was to fund Planned Parenthood, or the unlamented Bob Corker complaining about Iran, right before both of them went off and cooperated with normalizing abortion and Iranian adventurism.

Inspector generals are not Middle Eastern potentates. They have independence but they are not autonomous. They are political appointees who have to answer to the president. If Cotton really believes Atkinson stonewalled the GOP in the Senate while cavorting with the Democrats in the House (a view, by the way, that I’m very sympathetic to if, for no other reasons, the professional bureaucracy always sees the Democrats as the legitimate government and the Republicans as hostile interlopers), he can submit a complaint to the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE). That group can recommend disciplinary action to the president if an IG is found to be acting in a partisan manner. If several senators signed the complaint, you could be sure it was acted on. Or Cotton could direct this complaint to the acting DNI or, better yet, to the president and the Intelligence Committee could hail Atkinson back to testify, again, on the points where Cotton and his colleagues are unhappy.

What is not acceptable is for Cotton to seemingly accept this kind of high-handed treatment and deal with it by sending a letter that reads more like a press release than anything else. It could make you think that Cotton isn’t terribly serious about this but wants us to believe that he is. We’ve seen that movie too many times and we don’t like how it ends.

Take a Look at the Notes From Giuliani’s Ukrainian Investigation

Real Clear Investigations’ Eric Felten, has obtained a copy of Rudy Giuliani’s notes from interviews he’d conducted in January with former Ukrainian Prosecutors Viktor Shokin and Yuri Lutsenko.

Felten writes that a Ukrainian media outlet, The Babel, has published the notes, and that Giuliani has confirmed their authenticity. He said the notes had been “prepared by George Boyle, a retired NYPD detective,” who serves as the director of investigations at Giuliani’s security firm.

Felten also writes he has not confirmed the “prosecutors’ assertions as presented in the notes. The documents are embedded in the Google-translated article linked to here and can be viewed by scrolling down the page.”

The notes have not been publicly released in the U.S. During an appearance on Hannity last week, Giuliani said he had submitted them to the State Department and had not heard anything back. The State Department’s Inspector General sent them to the FBI. Felten writes that they are now in the hands of congressional committees.

Shokin told Giuliani he had been investigating Burisma Holdings when he was “warned” by then-Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to stop “as it was not in the interest of Joe and/or Hunter Biden.” Shokin said he had also been warned by then-U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, Geoffrey Pyatt. (Pyatt was succeeded by the controversial, Obama administration holdover, Marie Yovanovitch, who was fired by the Trump administration in May 2019.)

Following Biden’s now infamous order, Shokin was fired in March 2016.

The notes say Shokin “was called into Mr. Poroshenko’s office and told that the investigation into Burisma and the Managing Director where Hunter Biden is on the board, has caused Joe Biden to hold up one billion dollars in U.S. aid to Ukraine.” According to the notes, Poroshenko told Shokin “he had to be fired as the aid to the Ukraine was being withheld by Joe Biden.”

President Trump rightly believes Biden’s threat to withhold U.S. aid to Ukraine unless Shokin was fired should be investigated. His reference to this incident during a July 25th telephone conversation with current Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has sparked the House Democrats’ current impeachment inquiry.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Ukraine had already initiated an investigation in March, four months prior to this phone call. I posted about this here.

It is believed that many officials in Poroshenko’s administration actively interfered during the 2016 U.S. presidential election to damage then-candidate Trump. In December 2018, Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), Artem Sytnyk, and Serhiy Leshchenko, then the acting Ukrainian Prosecutor General, were found guilty in a Kiev court of revealing what was either the authentic or forged copy of former President Viktor Yanukovych’s “black ledger.” The ledger showed that cash payments of over $12 million had been made to Paul Manafort, whose consulting/lobbying work for Yanukovych had been instrumental in helping him win Ukraine’s 2010 presidential election. When this information was released in August 2016, Manafort was forced to resign from his post as the manager of the Trump campaign and it added credibility to the Democrats’ scheme to portray Trump as an agent of Moscow.

Glenn Beck posted a recording of Sytnyk telling friends he had helped Hillary during the campaign. I posted about that here.

In addition, the dogged efforts of DNC contractor Ukrainian-American Alexandra Chalupa to unearth dirt on Manafort and Trump also amounted to election interference. In January 2017, two Politico writers, Kenneth Vogel and David Stern, published the results of their investigation into the many ways officials of Poroshenko’s government worked to promote Clinton’s victory. Chalupa’s role looms large in that report. This frequently cited report can be viewed here.

Freedom Of The Press Is Still Alive In Canada, Thanks To Andrew Lawton And True North

Westlake Legal Group Untitled-4-300x232 Freedom Of The Press Is Still Alive In Canada, Thanks To Andrew Lawton And True North True North Social Media Morning Briefing Media Justin Trudeau Front Page Stories Front Page freedom of speech Featured Story Featured Post Conservatives Canada Election October 21st Canada Andrew Lawton Allow Media Exception Abuse of Power 2019

Freedom of the press can be attacked anywhere at any time.

Normally when you read a statement like that you would think of places like China, Russia or parts of California that allow some freedom of the press but will crack down on it at a moment’s notice. The one place that most Americans would never think that statement would apply to is…

Canada.

Yeah, that one.

I’m not joking.

The Great White North, the land of Hockey and something called Poutine fries has also become home to some intolerant actions by people who claim to be just peace-loving tolerant souls only trying to get along.

Thanks to a group of Canadian patriots though, it looks like this abhorrent attitude will not be allowed to succeed.

Possibly you recall last month when the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, found himself in a bit of hot water because of his fondness of dressing up in “blackface” almost 20 years ago. Even though back then this was considered acceptable, today’s #WOKE crowd will allow for no acceptions.

This tweet from Time magazine was the beginning of the onslaught for Trudeau.

Enter Andrew Lawton, who works for a media outlet by the name of True North. Andrew is a seasoned veteran of Canadian politics and has dabbled in the goings-on of some of the crazy stuff that our political system has to offer. I met him a number of years ago at some event somewhere ( I’m 50 now so the memory fades) and he was a fellow podcaster so we had some mutual stories to share.

Long story short, the guy is a solid journalist who pulls no punches.

He also has an impressive resume of interviews because of his easy-going style and an impeccable reputation. Just a couple of the names he has talked with are former Canadain Prime Minister Stephen Harper and some guy named…

Justin Trudeau.

The same one that was not so woke just a couple years before.

Well imagine Andrew’s surprise when he applied for credentials to cover Trudeau on the Liberal media tour bus and he was not just given the cold shoulder he was flat out ignored. There is a cost of 8k a week to be on that bus and True North was willing to pay for two weeks to have Andrew on that vehicle right after the blackface controversy.

According to Candice Malcolm who is the Executive Director of the True North this is what happened…

We learned that the Liberals were intentionally blocking us from reporting and refusing to acknowledge True North as a media organization or Andrew Lawton as a journalist. They gave us inconsistent and contradicting reasons, and told Andrew that he needed “accreditation” to join the bus.

Here’s the thing, though, there is no institution in Canada that grants accreditation to journalists. It happens on a case by case basis. In this case, it would be the Liberals themselves who would grant accreditation. And they were refusing — because we weren’t accredited.

This is the equivalent of showing up at the DMV to get a driver’s license and them telling you that they can’t give a license because you’re not a licensed driver — even though you’re an experienced driver!

This is happening IN CANADA!?!?!?! Sacre Bleu!!

Why in the hell is Prime Minster dimples and his party blocking a journalist and his news organization from paying 16,000 Canadian dollars ( Don’t ask me what that is in U.S. money, been a while since I crossed the border) to ride on the bus and maybe get to ask some questions?

Did he pick that attitude up from summers with Fidel Castro?

Thankfully, that did not stop True North and Lawton from pursuing covering this campaign and the bus.

Literally.

According to Malcolm, True North was going to have Lawton follow that bus.

I told them we were not giving up, and that Andrew would follow the tour bus until they let him on. I don’t care if we have to spend every last dollar in True North’s budget, I will personally pay for Andrew, if need be, and he will follow the campaign — by car, train, plane, whatever means necessary — to report the other side of the story for Canadians.

Andrew did just that and the Prime Minister had the cops pull him over according to his boss.

That is when the Prime Minister sent the RCMP to detain Andrew and stop him from following the campaign bus. It was completely out of line — something that happens in a dictatorship not a free country like Canada.

Lawton, who is well known to his colleagues in the press and the staff working for the Prime Minister, was given the heavy hand of having the Canadian Mounties called on him for doing his job. Even though it was a 15-minute delay it was totally unnecessary and what weak-minded politicians and their campaigns do to try and keep their “messaging” on target.

The last hurdle that Andrew and his group had to face was being barred from a Leadership debate being held last Monday, October 7th in English. The Leaders’ Debates Commission handles these types of things and Andrew was denied accreditation to attend this event. Thankfully, they filed in court to remedy the situation.

As Andrew says in a post he did about this at andrewlawton.ca

I applied on September 24th for accreditation – one day after the Government of Canada accreditation portal for the debates opened up. I heard nothing until October 4th, which was the last business day before the Monday debate. The rejection was a mere two sentences long. The reasoning was that True North, in the eyes of the Parliamentary Press Gallery, to which accreditation had somehow been outsourced, is “actively involved in advocacy.”

So we did the only thing we could do by filing for an emergency injunction, which was granted after a hearing of less than 90 minutes, in which the presiding judge not only recognized True North and I as producers of journalism, but also accepted that we would be irreparably harmed, as would Rebel, by exclusion from a debate funded by Canadians for the benefit of Canadians.

The judge delivered his finding at about 4:45pm. Within 15 minutes I was in a car on the way to the debate location, where my press credentials were being printed off.

The good peeps won here.

When Andrew finally was able to get close enough to the Prime Minister to ask him a question he took the opportunity to try and find out what in the hell was going on with trying to limit Freedom of the Press with Trudeau campaign banning “certain” journalists.

Andrew’s question was this…

“This afternoon, a federal court judge ruled that I had a right to be here, to cover this debate as a journalist despite opposition from your Attorney General,” I said to Trudeau in the scrum. “This comes after two weeks of me being kicked out or not being allowed into your campaign rallies. The Conservatives have criticized you for being ‘not as advertised.’ You’ve advertised yourself as a champion of press freedom. Will you take a stand right now sir, as the leader of the Liberal party, and allow me to cover your campaign like every other journalist?”

Trudeau gurgled this response.

“We are a party, and we are a country that respects journalistic rights and who respects the freedom of the press and we will continue to,” Trudeau said.

Oh. Just like you respect all indigenous, black and brown people while slopping black shoe polish on your adorable mug?  How does one say “Actions speak louder than words” in French?

Aside from the fact that Trudeau seems like a guy who would need to google how to pull weeds and watch a video on YouTube to do it, I’m still wondering if this is actually his policy or is it some of the campaign hard heads that wanted to make this an issue. This was an incredibly dumb move on Team Trudeau’s part.

Since when do the self-declared intellects fear words and questions?

I asked Andrew what was the reaction of those in the press after he and True North won a huge victory for Freedom of the Press in Canada.

When I eventually got to the debate media room I had a few people congratulate me privately, which I appreciated. Having worked in media for years now I know a lot of these people. Though the public support from the mainstream media was pretty much nonexistent. There was hardly any coverage of it, and even on Twitter there was very little attention given, despite this ruling ultimately protecting the rights of all Canadian journalists.

The media response to this is quite frankly sad and this event should have never happened. When others in the media became aware that one of their own was being blocked they should have spoken up and demanded it be corrected. They should have been strong advocates for the principle of the press not being interfered with within a political campaign. If any of the Canadian press wants to see how it is done here in the states, here is an article about when a CNN Reporter was banned Fox News backs CNN lawsuit over Jim Acosta’s suspended press pass. ALL the other networks joined that lawsuit to protect a competitor. They wanted FREEDOM OF SPEECH to be protected, regardless of their biases.

Thankfully in the land of Canada today, we have people who are willing to put their reputations, money and time on the line to make sure that the rights are protected of those getting us the story from the bus, the train or anywhere news might be made affecting you. That is critical for any country to have to be able to thrive and succeed.

Lawton v. Canada is a shining example of how to get it done.

Canada is better for it!!

Apple Caves, Removes Multiple Apps, Including News App Covering Hong Kong Protests, After China Objects

Westlake Legal Group Apple-China Apple Caves, Removes Multiple Apps, Including News App Covering Hong Kong Protests, After China Objects Technology Hong Kong protests Hong Kong Front Page Stories Front Page Free Speech Featured Story Featured Post Culture communism China Censorship big tech apple Allow Media Exception

The scandal of American businesses kowtowing to China on free speech over the protests in Hong Kong continues.

Apple has now removed multiple apps/emojis after China expressed its displeasure with them.

The latest app removed came last night, according to The Verge.

Apple removed the app for HKMap.live, a crowdsourced map that allows Hong Kongers to see where police and street closures were in Hong Kong. Apple previously rejected the app, but then relented. Now they’ve pulled it again.

Here’s their argument:

We created the App Store to be a safe and trusted place to discover apps. We have learned that an app, HKmap.live, has been used in ways that endanger law enforcement and residents in Hong Kong. Many concerned customers in Hong Kong have contacted us about this app and we immediately began investigating it. The app displays police locations and we have verified with the Hong Kong Cybersecurity and Technology Crime Bureau that the app has been used to target and ambush police, threaten public safety, and criminals have used it to victimize residents in areas where they know there is no law enforcement. This app violates our guidelines and local laws, and we have removed it from the App Store.

The developers dispute that.

“There is 0 evidence to support CSTCB’s accusation,” the HKmap developers said in response. “HKmap App never solicits, promotes, or encourages criminal activity. HKmap App consolidates information from user and public sources, e.g. live news stream, Facebook and Telegram.”

But Apple pulled the app one day after the China Daily, a media arm of the Chinese Communist Party, blasted them for running with it, saying it was “hurting the feelings of the Chinese people” and that Apple was “mixing business with politics, and even illegal acts. Apple has to think about the consequences of its unwise and reckless decision.”

While the app has been pulled, you can still access the map for the moment on an iPhone.

But in case you were inclined to give Apple the benefit of the doubt and accept their argument that it was just about public safety, there’s more.

They also dumped their app for the news outlet, Quartz, after complaints by China.

From The Verge:

According to Quartz, this is due to the publication’s ongoing coverage of the Hong Kong protests, and the company says its entire website has also been blocked from being accessed in mainland China.

The publication says it received a notice from Apple that the app “includes content that is illegal in China.”

Apple has even gone as far this week as to remove its Taiwan flag emoji from view in the emoji keyboard selection that can be seen in Hong Kong and Macau at the request of the Chinese government, according to The Verge.

Why is an American company so willing to toady to China? Because of all their business interests tied to China. Almost 20% of its market comes from China. Its supply chain is based out of China. It’s an American company but it’s exceedingly dependent on China. This isn’t the first time that they’ve caved to China and it likely wouldn’t be the last.

Kowtowgate needs to be called out loudly as the scandal it truly is.

Removing an app that helps protesters avoid problems with the Communist-controlled police is not in the interests of public safety. Removing an app that dares report the truth about what’s going on is not in the interests of public safety. And removing an emoji that denies the truth may soothe the delicate feelings of China. But it does no service to free speech or the truth.
