NYT Journalist: How Dare Media Report Bad Things About Joe Biden’s ‘Child,’ 49-Year Old Hunter?

Westlake Legal Group d2bf8fb0-122d-4440-9765-867da6293429.v1-e1557409569915 NYT Journalist: How Dare Media Report Bad Things About Joe Biden’s ‘Child,’ 49-Year Old Hunter? Uncategorized News Media Mainstream Media journalism hunter biden Front Page Stories Featured Story democrats biden

An Arkansas woman is suing Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, claiming that he is the father of her child. But she’s encountered problems in the effort because he has been ducking service of process, she says.

Basic news item, right, especially given Hunter being so much in the news?

Hugh Hewitt thought so, when he reported Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) commenting on the lawsuit.

But get a load of the reaction of the NY Times’ Michael Barbaro which Twitchy caught:

Apparently, the 49-year-old “child” of Joe Biden is not allowed to be criticized, according to the New York Times. And anyone daring to do so should be flagged to any liberal media outlets for which they might work for suitable shaming/possible firing.

Is there any clearer example of media carrying water for Democrats than this?

Since when is a 49 year old man a “child?” Not to mention Hewitt wasn’t even criticizing Hunter Biden, but simply quoting Tom Cotton.

And this from a media organ, the Times, which has bashed the grown Trump children at every possible opportunity.

This journalist in particular has gone after Trump’s ‘child,’ Ivanka.

The NY Times hasn’t exactly been covering themselves with glory of late.

But using the concern we all share that people not attack any politician’s minor child to cover the peccadilloes of Hunter Biden and paint him as a victimized child is a stretch, even for the brave firefighters at the New York Times.

Trump Administration Threatens to Pull Funding from Duke University Program for Promoting Islam While Ignoring Christianity

Duke University and the University of North Carolina jointly run a Middle East studies program, and the initiative is now under threat by the Trump administration.

The White House is threatening to pull taxpayer funding from the endeavor, amid allegations of federal funds misuse. What kind? The advancing an anti-Israel bias, aggressively promoting Islam, and ignoring Judaism and Christianity type.

On August 29th, the Department of Education sent a letter to the Duke-UNC Consortium for Middle East Studies designating a due date by which the curriculum must be revised. Otherwise, funding will be pulled.

The program — which received a $235,000 grant last year — states its goal as “[supporting] the development of foreign language and international expertise for the benefit of U.S. national security and economic stability.”

Yet, earlier this year, the Duke-UNC CMES held a conference on the taxpayer’s dime with, according to Republican North Carolina Rep. George Holding, “severe anti-Israeli bias and anti-Semitic rhetoric.”

Fox News reports Education Secretary Betsy DeVos was “troubled” by the event.

As noted the investigation:

There is a considerable emphasis placed on understanding the positive aspects of Islam, while there is an absolute absence of any similar focus on the positive aspects of Christianity, Judaism, or any other religion or belief system in the Middle East.

Some academic papers linked to the program have included “Radical Love: Teaching from Islamic Mystical Tradition” and “Performance, Gender-Bending and Subversion in the Early Modern Ottoman Intellectual History.” Neither, in the view of the Education Department, serve the program’s official purpose.

In fact, as for project’s foreign language aspect, only 960 of the 6,800 participants are enrolled in Middle East language classes.

More from Fox:

Department officials instructed the Duke-UNC consortium, which was founded in 2005 and received the grant nearly a decade ago, to provide a “revised schedule of activities” for the next academic year and explain how each offering promotes foreign language learning and advances national security interest.

One UNC history professor thinks the D of E should mind its own business. VP of the school’s American Association of University Professors chapter, Jay Smith, told the Associated Press the official who signed the letter “should stay in his lane and allow the experts to determine what constitutes a ‘full understanding’ of the Middle East.”

Henry Reichman, chair of a committee on academic freedom under the American Association of University Professors, derided the probe as — here’s some novel joint terminology for ya — “right-wing political correctness.”

Education Dept. head Betsy doesn’t seem to be much of a favorite among Democrats, but some do want her to police things at times: In December, actress-turned-person-sayin’-political-stuff appeared to forget cops exist and asked her to be the new Commissioner Gordon (here).

As per DeVos’s commissioned letter, the schools have ’til September 22nd to turn the program around.

Another Supposed Bombshell On Trump-Ukraine Goes Up In Flames

I feel like I’m writing one of these every few hours because I suppose I am. There’s been so much misinformation reported in regards to the Trump-Ukraine saga that I can hardly keep up at this point. The original reports of a quid pro quo were wrong. The reports that Trump brought up Biden eight times were wrong. Reports the Intel Chief threatened to resign were false. Claims he demanded an investigation were also false. I could keep going.

To put it lightly, the media have gotten almost every detail of this story wrong along the way. I wrote about most of the above in a story yesterday and one of the things I noted was a new claim being bandied about.

Here’s the tweet I quoted and my response.

And look, I like Guy. He works for Townhall, one of our sister sites, and also does Fox News stuff. I’m not trying to pick on him. But at what point do you just wait before running with this stuff? What part of that story is even worth considering right now given how badly these same outlets failed us just a day earlier?

Sure enough, that accusation has now fallen completely apart. It’s almost like clockwork. Maybe I should go play the loto?

But maybe they just got his identity wrong? Perhaps he still had knowledge of what he claimed?

A big nope on that score as well. He has refuted the report.

In other words, this guy was simply repeating media reports that we already know are wrong because we now have the transcript. Nothing more. He was not an advisor to Zelensky and he did not have any knowledge of any precondition being arranged. He pointedly admits that.

Axios rushed to repeat the ABC “scoop” and got caught with their pants down as well. They issued a correction that no one saw.

Ask yourself why these news outlets don’t just take down the original false tweets and stories? The answer is because this is all being done on purpose. It’s about the narrative and as long as they get the fake story to enough people, they’ve accomplished their goal. Once again, there will be no consequences and the same people who fell for this, even after days of provably false reporting, will bit the hook again. It’s a cycle that never stops.

Is This Guy the Ukraine Phone Call Whistleblower?

The legacy media have been spoon-feeding us anti-Trump articles based on “anonymous” sources for over two years now. As they’ve plowed the ground, here is one from me with a decidedly different intent, i.e., to expose a politically-motivated former CIA officer and now a whistleblower with ties to Democrats.

A source known to me at the State Department, who will remain anonymous, tells me that everyone is pointing to Edward “Ned” Price as the whistleblower who came forward with the accusation that President Trump “abused his office” during a phone conversation with the Ukrainian president. Here is how the swamp rag Washington Post characterizes the whistleblower’s complaint:

The whistleblower complaint at the heart of the burgeoning controversy over President Trump’s call with the Ukrainian president claims not only that Trump misused his office for personal gain and endangered national security but that unidentified White House officials tried to hide that conduct.

In forceful language, the unidentified whistleblower alleged that the commander in chief pushed his foreign counterpart to investigate former vice president Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden and that senior White House officials then tried to “lock down” records related to the matter.

The pressure, the whistleblower alleged, came in a phone call July 25 between Trump and President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine, an exchange that turned so politically problematic that White House lawyers directed other officials to remove the electronic transcript of the conversation from the computer system where it was stored.

Read the rest here.

Note that the complaint specifically refers to the phone call, which transcript the White House released just yesterday. Any objective reading of that transcript makes it clear that there was no pressure to do ANYTHING exerted on the Ukrainian president by President Trump whatsoever. What President Trump actually did was to solicit Ukraine’s help for an ongoing investigation – a completely lawful interchange! Read it for yourself here if you have only been following legacy media reports about that transcript.

Who is Price? According to Wikipedia:

Edward “Ned” Price (born 1982) is a Fellow at the New America Foundation and a political analyst for NBC News. Price is also a former American intelligence officer who worked at the United States Central Intelligence Agency from 2006 until February 2017. On February 20, 2017, Price published an op-ed piece in the Washington Post, outlining his decision to retire from the CIA rather than work in a Donald Trump administration.

Note that New America Foundation is one of the two top organizations liberally funded by George Soros, the other being the better-known Open Society Foundation. NAF’s chairman of the board of directors is Eric Schmidt who has long and deep-standing ties to Democrats – particular Obama and the Clintons.

https://www.discoverthenetworks.org/individuals/george-soros/

He certainly fits the profile of what has been rumored about the whistleblower: former intelligence officer, supportive of a Trump political rival, etc. But that’s not the half of it, though. Anonymous sources also report that Price was not only a CIA deep state agent but was also one of the spies that John Brennan used in the 2016 election to spy on the Trump campaign. This guy quit the CIA in an huff and is virulently anti-Trump, too. Gee, is it any surprise that this guy would magically come forward now with a complaint based on hearsay evidence?

Here is an interesting tidbit from Price’s twitter timeline.

In that WaPo article linked above, there is this fascinating paragraph that dovetails coincidentally with Price’s tweet above:

The transcript, the whistleblower alleged, was then loaded onto a separate system meant for classified information. And according to White House officials who informed the whistleblower, that was “not the first time” a transcript was put there due to concerns about politics rather than national security, the complaint alleged.

Remember, there are NO coincidences in politics, particular concerning the Deep State cabal who have been after President Trumps scalp from the beginning! There’s a high probability that the transcript was put on the classified system to preclude it being leaked, too!

Here’s my question for Price, disgraceful Democrats like Adam Schiff, and their allies in the legacy media: if the President’s conduct was so egregious, then why on Earth didn’t State Department officials who were privy to the conversation first-hand register a complaint?  Price only learned about the incident second- or third-hand!

I believe we’re going to find out a lot more about the whistleblower, including his complaint and how it was compiled from multiple sources (reportedly including media reports!), his political motivations, his likely connections to Adam Schiff and other Democrats, and much more. Stay tuned!

The end (for now).

Watching failed presidential candidate Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) get knocked down a peg or two, rhetorically speaking, never ever gets old.

Swalwell, who has represented California’s 15th congressional district since 2013, loves to artificially inflate his importance as a member of Congress every chance he gets. We’ve seen this often often on social media and during public hearings when he tries (and often fails) to one-up his political opposition in wars of words.

Today during the high drama of the whistleblower hearing over the allegations that President Trump engaged in impeachable offenses during a July phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Swalwell was aggressively questioning acting DNI Joseph Maguire, who was holding his own against the stampede of indignant House Democrats desperately looking for their gotcha moment in front of the cameras.

During the exchange, Maguire unintentionally misgendered Swalwell – calling him “Congresswoman”:

Swalwell began his questioning by asking Maguire about the “definition of a cover up,” then inquired why the transcript of July’s phone call was moved “to a secret classified information system.” Maguire appeared to slip up during one of his responses, calling Swalwell “congresswoman.”

“In the whistleblower’s complaint, the whistleblower alleges that immediately after the president’s call with the president of Ukraine on July 25, White House lawyers moved quickly to direct White House officials to move electronic transcripts from one computer system where it was normally stored to a secret classified information system. Is that right?” Swalwell said.

“Congresswoman – excuse me, sir, I apologize,” Maguire replied before being interrupted by Swalwell.

Swalwell did not look amused. In fact, he looked a wee bit deflated. Watch:

A few “feminists” were displeased over the fact that Twitter users erupted in laughter in the aftermath, but as a woman I found it pretty funny, too. Why? Because even though it’s not really an insult, Swalwell is just the kind of self-centered narcissistic windbag who would think it was.

Honestly, it could not have happened to a more deserving guy.

Some of us are old enough to remember the Looney Tunes classic series, “Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner.” In every episode, Wile E. Coyote has a new idea for how he will finally catch Roadrunner, but the bird is simply too fast and the Coyote never succeeds. Most of the time, the plan backfires and leaves the Coyote wounded and angry. But that doesn’t stop him from trying again.

This morning, the whistleblower’s complaint was released. Given that the transcript of the actual conversation between President Trump and the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, seemed quite benign, the seriousness of the allegations and the tone of the complaint came as a surprise. Our whistleblower has managed to extract an extraordinary amount of material from a pretty mild phone call.

To me, the past week feels eerily similar to the beginning of the Russian collusion investigation. The allegations in the whistleblower’s complaint  are difficult to believe. Instead of Russian collusion, it’s become Ukrainian collusion. And an anonymous whistleblower complaint has replaced the Steele dossier.

The whistleblower wrote that “over the course of four months, more than half a dozen U.S. officials have informed me of various facts.” Okay, so the whistleblower submitted his complaint on August 12th and had worked on it for four months.

That would take us back to the first half of April.

On April 1st, The Hill’s John Solomon broke the story about Hunter Biden’s business dealings with Ukrainian natural gas company, Burisma Holdings. He wrote:

U.S. banking records show Hunter Biden’s American-based firm, Rosemont Seneca Partners LLC, received regular transfers into one of its accounts — usually more than $166,000 a month — from Burisma from spring 2014 through fall 2015, during a period when Vice President Biden was the main U.S. official dealing with Ukraine and its tense relations with Russia.

Until this time, no one had tied Joe Biden’s boast about threatening to withhold $1 billion in U.S. aid unless the Ukrainian President fired Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin, to his son’s involvement with Burisma.

Note: Solomon appeared on “Hannity” last night and said he has obtained 450 pages of documents from “the State Department and Hunter Biden’s “legal team” demonstrating that the attorneys were working to stop an investigation launched by then-Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin into principals of Burisma.” He will present his story tonight on “Hannity.”

In March, Solomon interviewed Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko, who replaced Shokin, and came away with extraordinary stories of corruption within the U.S. Embassy in Kiev, originating from the State Department.

In April 2016, Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s office was investigating a nonprofit called the Anti-Corruption Action Centre (AntAC). This organization was co-founded by the Obama administration and George Soros. The concern was that $4.4 million the U.S. had sent to help fight corruption in Ukraine had been improperly diverted.

Shortly before Lutsenko took office, then-U.S. Embassy Charge d’ Affaires George Kent sent a letter to the Prosecutor General’s office asking them to end the investigation. Kent made it clear that “U.S. officials had no concerns about how the U.S. aid had been spent.”

Soon after taking office, Lutsenko was summoned to the U.S. Embassy to meet the U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch. According to Lutsenko, Yovanovitch handed him “a list of people whom we should not prosecute.” The embassy, of course, responded that the claim was a fabrication and a sign that corruption is alive and well inside Ukraine. (I posted about this story here.) Solomon wrote:

But Kent’s letter unequivocally shows the embassy did press Ukrainian prosecutors to back off what normally would be considered an internal law enforcement matter inside a sovereign country. And more than a half-dozen U.S. and Ukrainian sources confirmed to me the AntAC case wasn’t the only one in which American officials exerted pressure on Ukrainian investigators in 2016.

When I asked State to explain the letter and inclusion of the Soros-connected names during the meeting, it demurred. “As a general rule, we don’t read out private diplomatic meetings,” it responded. “Ambassador Yovanovitch represents the President of the United States in Ukraine, and America stands behind her and her statements.”

Second, the AntAC anecdote highlights a little-known fact that the pursuit of foreign corruption has resulted in an unusual alliance between the U.S. government and a political mega-donor.

If this account is correct, the Obama administration pressured a foreign government to drop an investigation into an organization they had co-founded along with activist George Soros. They were interested in preventing American taxpayers from learning how their tax dollars were being spent as well as concealing their collaboration with Soros. But, above all, they were each doing their part to insure that Hillary Clinton won the presidency.

The most serious corruption of all involved pro-Hillary Clinton Ukrainians and the DNC. Fox News contributor and author Dan Bongino and Solomon stand out for their ability to recognize the coordination between corrupt pro-Hillary Clinton Ukrainians and the DNC. Although Clinton lost the election, the effects of their interference can still be felt today. Especially for Paul Manafort.

To gain a better understanding of what happened, it’s helpful to know the backstory. No one does a better job of this than Bongino in his book “Spygate,” which was published in the late fall of 2018. He lays out the story of the real election interference that took place in 2016.

This story starts with the targeting of Paul Manafort by a pro-Western Ukrainian lawyer and activist named Alexandra Chalupa. This woman had worked as a consultant for the DNC and for Democratic politicians including several Clinton campaign officials. Between 2004 and 2016, she had earned $412,000 from the DNC, but left to focus on researching or rather “destroying” Manafort. Chalupa had “watched him since 2014.”

According to Bongino:

The moment Manafort joined the Trump team, Chalupa alerted the DNC of the “threat” of Russian influence. Chalupa’s sister, Andrea, spread the word on a Ukrainian television show calling Manafort’s hiring a “huge deal” and describing him as the “puppet master of some of the most vile dictators around the world.” His hiring, she said sent a “very, very, very, very, very serious warning bell going off.” This fear was rooted in the belief that Manafort was the mastermind behind Yanukovych’s corruption.

Chalupa was a woman on a mission. Determined to broadcast her message to the world, she began by enlisting the help of journalists. Yahoo News’ Michael Isikoff came on board and began writing a series of articles which portrayed both Manafort and the Trump campaign in a rather nefarious light. Her strategy was quite effective.

Chalupa’s smear campaign involved journalists and diplomats as well as contacts inside the DNC. She obviously had many contacts from her years in Washington and her message was easy to sell.

Bongino reported on the infamous black ledger and the role played by pro-Hillary Clinton Ukrainians in Paul Manafort’s downfall.

Politico writers Kenneth Vogel and David Stern interviewed Alexandra Chalupa for their January 2017 article. She told them she had developed a network of sources in Kiev and Washington, including investigative journalists, government officials and private intelligence operatives. She also said that Ukrainian government officials gave her information to pass along to the DNC. She later denied both of these statements.

Recall that Hillary Clinton’s campaign had previously bailed out the DNC financially and essentially controlled it.

The scope of the Democrat’s interference in the 2016 was breathtaking and beyond the scope of this post. I wrote in detail about this here.

Another piece of the puzzle involves Nellie Ohr who worked for Fusion GPS along with Christopher Steele. During her testimony last summer, she told lawmakers that a major source of the information she provided to the FBI was a Ukrainian official.

Suffice it to say that, by the spring of 2019, a pretty clear picture of the Democrats’ collusion with Ukrainians to tip the election to Clinton had formed.

The Mueller report hadn’t produced the result Democrats had anticipated. William Barr had appointed John Durham to open an investigation into the origins of the bogus Russian collusion probe. And, at the time, it was thought that DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz’ report on alleged FISA abuse by the FBI, would be released imminently.

Hence, ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you the Ukrainian Collusion Scandal.

Could this be the Democrat’s newest plan to finally catch that damn bird, once and for all?

We’ve reached a hip new place in society where you can love stuff even though you don’t know what it is.

These days, it’s boss to just go with the flow; if you’ve heard from someone that something’s great, wrap that thing in warm affection.

Heck, if you’ve got the time, put it on a sign, hoof it to the public square, and scream it out ’til your neck veins pop.

Don’t know what some of the words you’re shouting even mean? Stop being such a S-Q-U-A-R-E. It’s cool, Daddy-O.

Ya gotta learn to not overthink things.

Take the Green New Deal, for instance.

Green is awesome — it’s the color of weed and money, and Kermit the Frog.

And the thing’s New — that’s always better than crummy Old.

And who doesn’t love a deal?

It’s like socialism — what’s wrong with being social?

Whatever you’ve heard — about anything — shout that $!*@.

Get out there and just love the stuff. And if ya can, cry and sweat and crap your pants and block roads and beat up people. Stop worrying about what anything means, just do it — ’cause you’re already right.

Amid Friday’s climate strike in Washington, D.C. — which shut down 22 major intersections (here) — The Daily Caller asked folks what they thought about frequent-flyer AOC’s emerald bid to eliminate air travel, redo every building everywhere (here), and aspire to plugging those poor cows’ rectums (here).

People liked it.

Then they were asked, essentially, what it is.

They were like Fonzie.

Check out the video above.

And if you find the time today, just think of something you’ve heard recently, go to a park, throw rocks at trees, and scream it ’til you lose your voice. It’s lookin’ like that kind of stuff changes laws.

‘Preciate it, WorldChanger.

Russia Collusion 2.0? Whistleblower Was Reportedly CIA

One of the narratives that has come from Thursday’s “whistleblower hearing” featuring the Acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire  is that the whistleblower him- or herself was acting in good faith.

Maguire said it himself during his testimony. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Ca.), Chair of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, was quick to agree. Any number of pundits have reiterated it.

And that’s an important narrative for the Democrats because it also broke Wednesday that the whistleblower in question is a CIA agent who had been stationed in the White House, lending credence to Trump’s charge that this is nothing more than Russia Collusion, Part 11 (see Sperry’s tweet above).

The officer was detailed at the White House but has since returned to the CIA. His complaint became public earlier on Thursday, and it revealed, if accurate, that the White House officials “had intervened to ‘lock down’ all records of the phone call, especially the word-for-word transcript of the call.”

The complaint did not contain firsthand accounts of the controversial phone call, only secondhand and thirdhand information.

“Any decision to report any perceived identifying information of the whistle-blower is deeply concerning and reckless, as it can place the individual in harm’s way,” said Andrew Bakaj, the whistleblower’s lead counsel told the Times. “The whistle-blower has a right to anonymity.”

Perhaps the whistleblower did follow the law and have good intent. But it strains credibility that aa highly trained intelligence official would make that bold a claim against a sitting president based on third-hand information without some passion or prejudice involved.

Whatever the case may be, the whistleblower affair has solidified one thing for certain: Trump is still unable to let his guard down and speak freely. How that kind of microscope ultimately benefits the country remains unclear.

FULL AUDIO. President Trump Hints at Vengeance on the Whistleblower and His Enablers

As the day was heating up on Capitol Hill, President Trump was at a private breakfast in New York with the staff of the US Mission to the United Nations. It may have started out routine, but it didn’t stay that way. Here I’m going to quote an LA Times article by Eli Stokols to within a molecule or two of copyright violation because someone gave Stokols a recording. The Clinton’s go-to reporter at the New York Times, Maggie Haberman, had to rely upon this for sourcing:

according to a person briefed on what took place, who had notes of what the president said.

WTF does that mean? Is it even English?

Back to the Stokols story:

“Basically, that person never saw the report, never saw the call, he never saw the call — heard something and decided that he or she, or whoever the hell they saw — they’re almost a spy,” Trump said.

“I want to know who’s the person, who’s the person who gave the whistleblower the information? Because that’s close to a spy,” he continued. “You know what we used to do in the old days when we were smart? Right? The spies and treason, we used to handle it a little differently than we do now.”

In his remarks, Trump cited his awkward meeting with Zelensky on Wednesday where both leaders were asked about the implicit quid pro quo detailed in the call summary and whistleblower complaint.

“They said, ‘Was he pressuring you?’” Trump said, describing the question to Zalensky, who responded that he hadn’t felt any “push” but also said he didn’t want to get involved in a U.S. political squabble.

“You know, these animals in the press,” Trump went on. “They’re animals, some of the worst human beings you’ll ever meet.”

This is the funny part. Imagine the state of affairs when a State Department employee in New York feels comfortable doing this. It is either the ballsiest troll ever or even the New York Times’s core audience has grown tired of this crap.

Someone in the room shouted out “Fake news!” egging the president on.

And egged on he was.

“They’re scum,” Trump continued. “Many of them are scum, and then you have some good reporters, but not many of them, I’ll be honest with you.”

He then accused Sen. Christopher S. Murphy (D-Conn.), who met with Zalensky in Kyiv this month, of pressuring the Ukrainian leader to accuse Trump of improper behavior.

“Democratic senators went over there and strong-armed the guy,” Trump said, affecting Murphy’s voice for a moment. “‘You better damn well do this or you’re not going to get any money from Congress.’ Oh, I see, that’s OK?”

“And then you have Sleepy Joe Biden who’s dumb as a rock,” Trump went on. “This guy was dumb on his best day and he’s not having his best day right now. He’s dumb as a rock. [FACT CHECK: True.] So you have Sleepy Joe and his kid, who’s got a lot of problems, he got thrown out of the Navy — look, I’m not going to, it’s a problem … so we won’t get into why. He got thrown out of the Navy and now this kid goes into Ukraine, walks away with millions of dollars, he becomes a consultant for $50,000 a month and he doesn’t know anything compared to anybody at this firm. He’s a stiff. He knows nothing. He’s walking away with $50,000.”

Enjoy the show.

I find myself largely in agreement with this. The guy at the center of the storm is not a whistleblower by any stretch of the imagination. Not only did he not witness any illegal behavior, he didn’t even witness any behavior. He’s a gossipmonger who is trying to damage the President because of what seems to be more personal animus than a policy basis. I hope Trump finds out this guy’s name and gives him the recognition on Twitter that he deserves. I’m not alone in my assessment of the whistleblower’s status, the Office of Legal Counsel agrees. I think everyone throws around treason and traitor a bit too freely, but after watching the Democrats and some people who used to write here in action, I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m in a minority. If Trump has been accused of treason, he has certainly earned the right to repay that insult in its own coin. On the serious side, this shows that quite a few of the intelligence agency employees attached to the White House are openly partisan and will happily use their position to forward those goals. I’d be all in favor of Trump going after the people doing this with all the vigor that Bill Barr can wring out of the Justice Department.

On the merits, I’m not impressed at all with the whistleblower complaint. There is literally nothing in there that is illegal and, unless you’re a Democrat, there isn’t very much to object to.

Two thoughts here. Does anyone really believe that he made these statements in front of this audience without the intent that they’d be made public. Think about it. State Department employees in New York are not really a core Trump constituency. The second thought comes by way of the New York Times:

At a fund-raiser at Cipriani 42nd Street in Manhattan immediately after the United Nations event, Mr. Trump walked out before the crowd of several hundred donors clutching paper in one of his hands and said, “This is the call.” He then said it was “the greatest thing” to happen to the Republican Party because they had raised so much money off the controversy.

And NBC

As the acting director of national intelligence began to testify Thursday morning before Congress, Trump departed for a Manhattan fundraiser where he was to be surrounded by familiar faces from his former life as a New York businessman.

Raising money has been one bright spot for Trump. Adding to the $5 million haul the impeachment inquiry news brought in on Tuesday and Wednesday, the president raised $5 million at a fundraising dinner at a private home in Manhattan on Wednesday night, according to a Republican spokeswoman.

He was expected to bring in an additional $3 million at the breakfast Thursday morning, for a total of $13 million so far this week.
