As covered Friday by RedState’s Brad Slager, Jim Acosta’s new book — Enemy of the People: A Dangerous Time to Tell the Truth in America, in which he admits his job title’s baloney (see here) — contains an attack on Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson.

In a tweeted excerpt, Jim calls them faux machomen — which, to me, is a strange characterization.

I’ve met Sean, and “macho” ain’t the word that comes to mind. Tucker made a name for himself wearing bowties. Nothing wrong with that whatsoever; but you wouldn’t mistake the guys for lumberjacks.

And, if you understand the definition of the word, you wouldn’t mistake Jim Acosta for a reporter (again, here).

Moving on:

Tucker returned the favor of the insult on Friday in his segment on liberal media bias.

The host showed a clip of Jim and CNN’s Don Lemon “[complimenting] one another for a job well done.”

Then Tucker offered this:

“No one has ever accused Jim Acosta of being a genius. Even by our estimates, it’s pretty shocking that he is so proud of himself.”

At the end of the program, Fox News contributor Dan Bongino brought up Jim’s jab:

“Jim Acosta writes a book about — wait for it — Jim Acosta!” We are living in peak Acosta right now. This is peak Jim Acosta. This book, it’s not about The New York Times’ failure to cover the Soviet Union in the ‘50s and ‘60s. The book is literally about Jim Acosta and his experiences with Donald Trump. Tucker, I hear you make an appearance in there. He’s upset you didn’t go to summer slam with him on a bus when you saw him. I guess he wanted some physical confrontation, which is just, again, totally peak Acosta.”

Tucker pointed out:

“I don’t yell at people I disagree with personally, because I’m not a liberal.”

“Me either,” Dan replied. “It’s not personal, buddy. Get over it, right?”

In case you’re wondering, toxically masculine Sean fired back as well, via social media:

As for Jim’s book sales, while he absolutely reeks like a thousand sewers at his job of reporting objective facts, I wish him well — it’s a great undertaking to write a book. But one user provided a not-so-great sign of success:

In a promo video for his book, Jim explains, “Trump attacks the facts and demonizes the media… … We’re still going to…report the news.”

No…You’re not (here, here, here, here, and here).

Jim Acosta to Hannity: Why didn’t you tell me off to my face that time I saw you on the bus, tough guy?

Westlake Legal Group ja-1 Jim Acosta to Hannity: Why didn’t you tell me off to my face that time I saw you on the bus, tough guy? Tucker Carlson Trump The Blog Sean Hannity jim acosta fox news Enemy of the People CNN bus book

Had Hannity done this, Acosta would have spent 15 minutes on CNN that day whining about it and lamenting “Fox’s turn from rhetorical intimidation to physical intimidation” or whatever. The incident would have received its own chapter in his new book, “Hero: Portrait of a Media Martyr,” a.k.a. “The Enemy of the People.”

In reality, Hannity (and Tucker Carlson) did the worst thing one can do to Acosta. They ignored him.

And he’ll never forgive them for it.

Hannity’s reply was Hannityesque:

The idea here in baiting Hannity, I assume, is to brawl with him on Fox and hope that lefties see the viral clip and reward him for it with book sales. Surely he doesn’t believe that fans of what he calls “state TV” are going to buy it.

Anyway, if he was so hot to confront Hannity and Carlson about their criticism of him, why didn’t he say something to them on the bus when he had the chance? Calling them wimpy in a book after ducking the chance to do it directly face-to-face feels wimpier than what they did. Hannity and Carlson may have avoided confrontation that day for fear that it’d be unprofessional, especially during a media junket abroad attached to a presidential summit. Big Jim should have let them know he wanted to throw down. If that’s what he really wanted.

Fox is giving him some free press for his book, incidentally, mainly by noting how bad the reviews are:

NPR book critic Annalisa Quinn hits Acosta’s book for not asking why President Trump has “succeeded” with his attacks against the media but used the anti-Trump memoir “as an opportunity to relitigate his spats with the White House rather than to meaningfully interrogate the cultural shift that left huge numbers of people despising and fearing the press.”…

“Reporters become part of the story when the president attacks them. But in between absorbing abuse and hitting back is another option: fighting for access, challenging the president on lies, and reporting the facts the way you would with any other story,” Quinn argued. “Acosta seems to believe that the attacks give him special dispensation to offer his personal opinions, and that doing so is even an act of bravery or public service.”…

“Acosta acknowledges Trump’s working-class base and captures the shock that reverberated with his upset win. But he fails to place the rage and resentment in the larger context of how America and the west reached this inflection point,” [Guardian contributor Lloyd] Green said. “Acosta should address all this after he tacitly cops to acting like an advocate or editorialist, as opposed to simply reporting breaking news or calling balls and strikes. In his words: ‘Neutrality for the sake of neutrality doesn’t really serve us in the age of Trump.’”

Here he is promoting the book on his home network. It currently stands at three out of five stars on Amazon’s page, which is better than I would have expected as Trumpers inevitably chime in to let him know what they think of him. Sample review: “Laughable Acosta Wants His Mommy To Save His Precious Little Feelings.”

CNN: Of course we don’t hate Trump or favor Democrats

Westlake Legal Group DonLemon CNN: Of course we don’t hate Trump or favor Democrats The Blog liberal media bias jim acosta Don Lemon CNN

Jim Acosta has a new book to peddle (I won’t link to it here but I’m sure you can find it on a quick search if you’re interested), and he’s been using his platform at CNN to promote it. He recently sat down with Don Lemon to discuss the “dangerous” nature of covering the President, particularly if you have anything critical to say about him. The two-person choir was singing in unison, assuring everyone that CNN has no inherent bias, does not “hate” President Trump and certainly doesn’t support Democrats over Republicans. (Perish the thought.) It’s a rather brief exchange, but the tone-deaf nature of these denials was really something to see. (Free Beacon)

CNN host Don Lemon on Tuesday attempted to bat down the notion that CNN has bias against President Donald Trump, adding they do not favor Democrats…

Acosta agreed with Lemon’s comments and claimed that just because CNN is “pro-truth” doesn’t mean they are “anti-Trump.” He went on to talk about the theme of his book and how the media is “not the enemy of the people.”

“We are defenders of the people, and we want to defend the people because we are devoted to the people,” Acosta said. “We are not here to spin things or color things a certain way. We’re here to get the way people reliable, accurate information on a daily basis. That’s why we all come into work everyday. We get a high out of it, and I just want to make sure we keep this going as a country.”

Let’s go to the video. It’s less than two minutes long.

Do these baffling claims really merit any fact checking? I suppose so, because large portions of the country only catch up on the news sporadically and likely don’t have much experience in ferreting out media bias. Unfortunately, there are any number of people who might see an article in any given newspaper or catch a segment on a cable news network (whether they are of the left or right leaning variety) and simply assume it’s the unvarnished truth.

The Free Beacon has been covering this beat for a while now and they have no trouble summoning up stories where both Lemon and Acosta have basically been fifth column warriors for the Democratic Party and exhibited a rancid disdain for the President. One stellar set of examples includes the time that Lemon said he wouldn’t be able to shake Trump’s hand at the funeral of George H. W. Bush. Acosta’s record of shouting out highly unprofessional remarks toward or about the President during press conferences is equally well documented.

But it’s not just these two residents of the State of Denial that should be in the spotlight. While I won’t say that every journalist at CNN is steeped in bias, the majority of the network follows the same patterns. As you probably know, they rely heavily on the reporting of both the New York Times and the Washington Post, frequently having reporters from both papers on the air. And it’s not just that they don’t wind up covering Republicans and Democrats the same way. They don’t even try.

Do you recall when we looked at the number of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests sent to Trump’s EPA under Scott Pruitt during the first two years of this administration? There were more than 150 FOIA requests during that 24-month period, covering everything up to and including which cafeteria Pruitt had lunch in and how much he spent. Compare that to the final four years of the Obama administration when his EPA received a whopping one request from the WaPo and a dozen from the Gray Lady.

CNN happily follows the lead of those newspapers on a wide variety of topics and the results are obvious. Of course they don’t deliver the same sort of grilling to Democrats when they are in power. They don’t even bother looking or asking questions. Why upset the apple cart when things are going your way, right?

And yet Lemon and Acosta will sit there in front of the cameras, promoting a new book about how horrible Donald Trump is and congratulating themselves on what a fine job they’re doing. And they don’t even break out laughing when they do it. (Unless, of course, they’re waiting until the cameras are off.)

Excerpts From Jim Acosta’s New Book Show How Hilariously Self-Aggrandizing It Is

Jim Acosta is out there risking his life.

He’s currently on a media tour promoting his new book “Enemy of the People: A Dangerous Time to Tell the Truth in America.” The studios of CNN and under-attended book signings are his battlefield.

Acosta is in so much danger that he’s teaming up with Dan Rather for a public appearance at Barnes and Noble.

There’s a certain irony about the guy who constantly says “I’m not fake news!” teaming up with one of the godfathers of fake news. Whoever Acosta’s publicist is didn’t think that one through. Maybe Rather can riff on how he hated a President so much that he tried to pass off fake documents on the eve of an election. Acosta might learn a thing or two.

Want an example of just how highly Acosta thinks of himself and his profession? Here’s an excerpt from his new book.

This guy realizes he’s essentially irrelevant right? What real life consequences is he speaking of? I’m assuming he means death threats, of which he’s never produced any, but if he gets them he’s hardly the only media member, politician, or political figure to receive threats. This is especially true when someone purposely makes themselves polarizing by being so incredibly dishonest.

That’s not to say he deserves to be threatened, but neither does Donald Trump. Life in the public eye isn’t fair and the attempts to blame the President for any risks to his safety are just another transparent ploy for attention.

Of course, Acosta’s “danger” is largely a fairy tale. He goes on CNN to talk about how unsafe Trump rallies are, then he goes and takes selfies with the hecklers. It’s all a game to him.

The talk of sacrifice in his book is almost obscene. He makes millions of dollars to ask biased, partisan questions. There’s no nobility in that and there’s certainly no actual sacrifice. But Acosta views himself like a soldier on Okinawa, valorously storming emplacements as he shouts nonsensical questions at the President. I mean, there was that one time where he had to be outside when during the winter though. Such bravery.

While Acosta wants to blame others for the fact that a lot of people dislike him, the truth is that his ridiculously unfair reporting is the real reason. He’s routinely made things up, mislead audiences, and inserted himself in political discussions, all while insisting he’s just a journalist.

Regardless, for all the talk about the danger of his job, how many journalists have been attacked because Trump called them fake news? There hasn’t been a single one, so maybe Acosta is overplaying his hand just a bit. On the other hand, several journalists have been attacked just this year by left-wingers. No one wants to talk about that though because it doesn’t help the narrative.

Inflated egos of the degree shown in Acosta’s book are not a pretty sight to behold. They are just gross. There are real people out there everyday in various professions who actually risk their lives and they do so without fanfare or writing ridiculously self-aggrandizing books.

Acosta’s account of his vast sacrifice and importance reads more like a parody at this point and should be treated as such.

CNN Reporter Pushes Fake News After Trump Presents Copy of U.S-Mexico Border Deal at Presser

This is not an apple or a banana, or something. I forget which is supposed to represent the truth in their silly ad campaign.

Today, Donald Trump gave a short presser to intrepid news reporters at the White House. Some of the questions naturally revolved around the new border deal between the U.S. and Mexico, which was reached late last week. After spending days calling Trump a moron for threatening tariffs, he delivered a victory they all said wouldn’t happen and Mexico gave some serious concessions to help stem the flow of illegal immigration.

That has many in the media shifting into overdrive to spin the results. One such outlet that’s been as guilty as anyone is CNN and Jim Acosta’s replacement (he’s busy risking his life giving interviews about his silly new book) decided to get in on the act.

After the President held up a piece of paper asserting it was a copy of the deal with Mexico, CNN’s Brian J. Karem took to Twitter to make this accusation.

Mr. Karem really thought he had the President here. Isn’t it just hilarious how he presented a blank piece of paper as the deal? What a conman, am I right?

His post has 17.7K likes as I’m typing this and it spread like wildfire in the left-wing echo chambers.

There’s a problem though, as there usually is with these sensational Trump stories.

Not only is the language of the agreement visible, you can even see the signatures on the paper. It’s clearly, 100% not “blank,” as CNN’s reporter described it.

Karem gave a belated correction which currently has only 383 likes and 39 retweets. Notice how these people always purposely don’t delete their tweets, knowing they’ll continue to garner views and followers despite being false.

This led to questions about why Karem assumed it was blank in the first place.

We know why he did what he did though. CNN exists as a rabidly anti-Trump network at this point. Even as their ratings keep collapsing, they continue their crusade. If that means spreading fake news, which will now become fact to liberals everywhere, then so be it. They can just give a meek correction and move onto the next purposeful screw up.

In a stunning show of no self-awareness, Karem tweeted this out later in the afternoon.

In reality, it looks like it’s Karem’s credibly that just got blown to bits.

Jelly is a condiment in need of peanut butter. Grilled cheese is a sandwich in need of tomato soup. Jim Acosta is a man in need of a dictionary.

The microphoned mischief-maker who’s clearly never been introduced to the meaning of “reporter” — that being someone who solely relays inarguable facts — appeared on CNN’s ironically-named Reliable Sources (here, here, here, and here) Sunday to remind everyone why he’s in desperate need of a new title.

One of his messages: The media needs to be more hostile to President Trump.

I’m starting a GoFundMe to mail Jim a Webster’s Unabridged.

Host Brian Stelter asked the left-wing pundit if he has any regrets. Apparently, he wishes the news media would put even more focus on not being the news media:

“Do I have any regrets? You know, I wish at times that the press had been a bit more in solidarity with one another. And standing up to this White House and saying listen, ‘You know, the President can’t call us the enemy of the people. We’re not going to go along with that.’ I think we’ve missed some opportunities here and there to challenge that.”

He’s on a mission unrelated to news:

“[The situation with Trump] sort of makes the 4th estate — the press — really the check on a presidency that sometimes goes outside the bounds of normal presidential behavior.”

I pine for the days of Walter Cronchite. Or any other boring mouth opening and stating just the facts.

Jim is — it should be noted — doubtlessly a large contributor to the President’s negative view of the mainstream media in general and CNN in particular (see here).

He’s declared war himself — on professionalism in reporting. Just see here:

Inadvertently declaring the continuing death of actual news, Jim challenged the entire concept of such an organization:

“We’re not just here to report the news. We’re here also to defend the truth.”

Oh boy.

Jim has a new book coming out, in which he admits he’s not a reporter. Read more here.

When asked why he wrote it, he explained to Brian thusly:

“I did not want my children to grow up in a country where the press is called the enemy of the people.”

Dude. You are the reason people say that.

Please, CNN — just give Jim his own show. He’s a pundit, and that’s okay. Let him pundit his pants full. Without the label of “White House Senior Correspondent.”

President Trump attended a D-Day ceremony this morning marking the 75th anniversary of the Allied invasion and the opening of the Western Front.

By all accounts, including Nancy Pelosi’s response, his speech was very well done, respectful, and fit the occasion. In short, there was essentially nothing to complain about here. But we live in 2019 and that means the media must scrape the bottom of the barrel to try to take partisan shots somehow.

Enter these hot takes.

You can feel the angst just reading those tweets. They really, really hate the President and even on a solemn day like today, where the entire western world is honoring the sacrifices of thousands, they couldn’t just give it a rest. They wanted everyone to know what a scumbag they think Trump is and that he’s so awful that he couldn’t even be bothered to show up on time for the ceremony.

There’s one problem and you can probably guess it.

It’s fake news.

The real story is that French President Emmanuel Macron was the one who was late. The NBC Correspondent above was wrong when he claimed the French President was in position, waiting on President Trump.

Here’s the thing with Presidents. The Secret Service doesn’t let them stand around in the open for 30 minutes, outside, waiting around for other leaders to show up. The ceremony was in an exposed location surrounded by hundreds of people. It’s not just probable, but almost certain that the Secret Service knew exactly, to the minute, when Macron would be there and that the President was following a predetermined plan. In fact, Trump still ended up in position and ready before Macron got there.

This all should have been obvious to anyone trying to report on this, but that didn’t stop Acosta and the above NBC correspondents from spreading a false story anyway. These people never learn because they don’t want to learn. They know they can get their shots in and never be held accountable for it. Tomorrow, we’ll be onto the next faux outrage. Same story, different day.

I’m shocked, shocked I tell you. On the plus side, I’m getting a lot of use out of the above fake news t-shirt picture.

When I first saw the headline for this story, I knew there had to be more to it. Trump is a bull in a china shop, but randomly noting that Meghan Markle “is nasty” seemed a bit much.

Here’s how CNN reported it.

Describing his comments, CNN reported in its headline: “Trump tells The Sun: Meghan Markle is ‘nasty’”.

The chyron on CNN’s television segment on the matter read: “Trump Calls Meghan Markle ‘nasty’ Ahead of UK Trip”.

Conservative establishment favorite and supposed straight shooter, Jake Tapper, got in on the action as well.

Seems bad doesn’t it?

I also think I’d be remiss not to note the obvious racial insinuations being made by these headlines. They might as well have written “Trump calls bi-racial woman nasty for no reason.”

As usual, the real story turns out to be much more different than CNN makes it out to be. Here’s the full transcript.

What Trump was actually saying was that he didn’t realize that Meghan Markle had been nasty about his possible election with her pledge to leave the country for Canada. He was not calling her “nasty” as a person and he was answering within the context of a question asked of him.

This isn’t even one of those times where you have to sort of interpret what Trump meant. The transcript is clear. Anybody that speaks English can read it and see exactly what he was saying. Framing it as Trump asserting that Markle “is nasty,” as CNN did, is simply false.

Furthermore, instead of engaging with the reporter, who’s obviously trying to get a rise out of him, he goes on to praise Markle in an attempt to clear the air and move on. In its full context, this story resembles absolutely none of the impressions the headlines CNN put out are giving.

Remember this the next time Jake Tapper, Jim Acosta, or whoever at CNN gets their feelings hurt at being called fake news. These people have earned the moniker and continue to justify its use every single day. No one is making them bare their biases so regularly. It’s an active decision.

Want more credibility? Act more credibly.

Earlier this week, President Trump said that John Kerry should be prosecuted under the Logan Act. This immediately caused uncontrollable spasms and hair to spontanously combust in newsrooms across America.

How could Trump possibly suggest that a political opponent should be jailed!

To be sure, the Logan Act is abject garbage as a law. That doesn’t change the fact that Kerry is clearly in violation of it as it is written. In actuality, I’d expect any prosecution under the law would eventually be found unconstitutional, but that didn’t stop Sally Yates and Democrats across American from yelling about it in relation to Michael Flynn for two years.

So why the gnashing of teeth now when the President suggests an actual violation of it be prosecuted? The bigger problem here is the hypocrisy though. You know who else is going around talking about jailing their political opponents? That would be nearly every major Democrat in the country.

Here’s a great montage of all the bloviating.

Now, oddly enough, I don’t remember any major media figure, including Toobin and Maddow above, objecting to Democrats suggesting that Bill Barr should be thrown in jail for absolutely no actual legal reason. In fact, most media members have treated it as a realistic, even laudable position.

This just shows how unserious these people are. Anything Trump says must be opposed. Anything Democrats do must be supported. It doesn’t matter if it involves blatant hypocrisy.

While John Kerry is not going to be prosecuted under the Logan Act, it is still great to see Trump make the media turn flips over it in the same week they were all calling for Barr to be hauled away in handcuffs. It’s one of his greatest skills.

CNN’s Jim Acosta Makes a Fool of Himself at the WH Medal of Freedom Ceremony

CNN’s Jim Acosta is in a running gun battle with April Ryan for the worst White House reporter currently on the beat.

Acosta’s self-aggrandizement and constant editorializing in briefings have become the butt of jokes everywhere. His false sense of grandeur has led him to write a book proclaiming how dangerous it is to “tell the truth” in America. Because Acosta’s life is so harrowing. Putting on makeup, saying whatever you want, and taking selfies with hecklers is life-threatening stuff and he wants you to know it.

If you follow sports at all, you probably heard about Tiger Woods winning his first Masters last month. It was a great moment in the country, if for no other reason that it brought a lot of different people from different backgrounds together to celebrate the same thing.

As is tradition at the White House, sports figures often receive the Medal of Freedom and Woods was the recipient yesterday. He becomes the fourth golfer to get the honor.

Ok, I have to admit, Trump plugging the ratings is pretty funny.

Anyway, during the ceremony, Jim Acosta decided it was a good time to yell a question at the President about…Michael Cohen.

Michael Cohen is currently in prison and nothing newsworthy surrounding him has happened in months. What exactly does he think the President would even have to say about that in this setting? Acosta is like your drunk uncle who starts making out with the wall after his fifth beer.

While the rest of the reporters respected that this was a ceremony for Tiger Woods and to celebrate the exceptionalism of Americans, Acosta was the only “reporter” to start yelling out questions like a dog yelping at people on the street.

More hilariously, he then went on CNN and bragged about his tough, hard-hitting question.

Acosta is not a journalist. He’s an activist seeking headlines. The entire purpose of all these stunts was to compile material for his new book and to boost his resume for that sweet new CNN show he desperately wants. Unfortunately for him, with CNN’s ratings collapse, I doubt they’ll be looking to put anymore dull, self-loving partisans in prime time. They’ve already got Chris Cuomo in that role.
