Police in London opened fire after a driver deliberately rammed their vehicle into the Ukrainian ambassador’s official car on Saturday morning.

The Ukraine Embassy said a silver Mercedes vehicle purposely drove into the car of Natalia Galibarenko, the Ukrainian ambassador, which was parked outside the embassy in West London.

“Around 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, the official vehicle of the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom was deliberately rammed as it sat parked in front of the Embassy of Ukraine’s building,” the embassy’s statement reads.

“The police were called immediately, and the suspect’s vehicle was blocked up.”

A spokesperson for the embassy told the Telegraph that since the perpetrator posed a threat to the ambassador, an armed police officer had to open fire and shoot at the driver through the window an unknown number of times. No people were injured.

“Nevertheless, despite the police actions, the attacker hit the Ambassador’s car again. In response, the police were forced to open fire on the perpetrator’s vehicle. The culprit was apprehended and taken to a police station,” the statement noted.

Some reports suggested there were shots from the car that hit the ambassador’s vehicle, but the embassy said only the British police opened fire.

Details concerning the motive for the attack, or the man’s nationality and any other information remains unclear.

“No one of the Embassy staff were injured. The police are investigating the suspect’s identity and motive for the attack,” it added.

Some residents told the media outlets that they heard about 10 shots in the area, though that remains unconfirmed.

Sudanese protest leaders are urging people to remain in the streets of the capital Khartoum following the military coup even as activists say 16 people have been killed by the regime in the last few days.

The protesters marched for the introduction of the civilian rule rather than letting the military to rule the country after the army forced President Omar al-Bashir from power amid months of anti-government protests.

“We will never leave the place. We will shout together. We will shout to our freedom, to our liberty,” protester Rami Mustafa said Saturday.

SUDAN’S UPHEAVAL BRINGS FEARS FOR SOUTH SUDAN’S PEACE DEAL

The army said it wants to govern the country for two years and only then call an election for a new head of government, a plan that raised concerns among human rights experts and groups.

The demonstrators fear that the military, dominated by al-Bashir loyalists, won’t give up the power after two years or will hand it only to one of their own.

Sudanese activists say that 16 people, including a soldier, have been killed in the two days since the military coup.

At least 13 people were shot dead on Thursday while another three people were killed on Friday, activists from the Sudan Doctors Committee said, claiming that the victims died “at the hands of regime forces and its shadow militias.”

Sudanese police confirmed the figure on Friday, though saying that the 16 people were killed by “stray bullets. At least 20 people were also wounded at rallies and sit-ins across the country.

Al-Bashir was ousted from power earlier this week following nearly four months of protests calling for an end to his nearly 30-year rule. The people at first protested against price hikes and shortages, but it quickly turned into a larger movement for Democracy and autocratic rule.

The ousted president is under house arrest and will be tried for unspecified crimes by Sudanese courts, the military said.

A Republican New York assemblyman spoke out on “Fox and Friends” after state Democrats blocked a bill expanding college tuition aid to Gold Star families earlier this week, despite approving such aid for illegal immigrants just a week ago.

“This is one of those things of misplaced priorities that needs to be simply fixed as quickly as possible,” said Robert Smullen, who’s also a retired Marine, on Saturday morning.

“This is one of those things of misplaced priorities that needs to be simply fixed as quickly as possible.”

— Republican New York Assemblyman Robert Smullen

“This was blocked in a committee vote. It needs to come out into the assembly onto the floor so it can be debated and then actually, I think the governor will sign it, he has indicated that he would. It’s really time for action. It’s a time for us to take care of the families of our service members who are fallen.”

NY DEMS BLOCK BILL EXPANDING COLLEGE TUITION FOR GOLD STAR FAMILIES AFTER APPROVING $27M IN TUITION AID FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS: REPORT

The Assembly’s Higher Education Committee voted 15 to 11 on Tuesday to shelve the bill, meaning it won’t be going to the floor for debate and a vote.

The move comes just a week after the state approved $27 million for a program allowing illegal immigrants to qualify for state aid for higher education.

“This is a bipartisan thing. So, it is a process of procedural foul that needs to be corrected as quickly as possible. That’s really where leadership comes in. If we lead properly, we would then be able to take care,” Smullen said, noting that the bill proposing aid to Gold Star families has been blocked for years.

“We have been working very hard to make sure this is an inclusive program. So it includes those who are killed in combat but also those that are killed in the line of duty. And it makes it an equitable thing so those people that go forward that do our duty, they do their oath to the Constitution to support and defend, they know that we got their backs covered and that their families will be taken care of,” he added.

New York Democrats defended the blocking of the bill, saying the aid to Gold Star families was not within the state’s budget and noted that there’s a similar program that provides $2.7 million to 145 students who are dependents of veterans who served in combat zones.

TUNNEL TO TOWERS CONTINUES TO HELP FAMILIES OF FIRST RESPONDERS AND MILITARY VETERANS

Mike Whyland, a spokesman for Assembly Democrats, said the Republican-led bill “would have expanded the eligibility beyond the scope and should be considered within the context of the budget.”

But Smullen reiterates that supporting Gold Star families “should absolutely be our first priority” and points to the recent death of Christopher Slutman, Marine reservist and a member of New York City Fire Department, who was killed on Monday by a roadside bomb near a U.S. base in Afghanistan.

“When you think about it, we as a society, as a civilization, and New York particularly, ought to be a leader in this nation to take care of those who need it most.  And, you know, we just had a marine reservist killed in Afghanistan. A member of FDNY, very tragic.”

“We need to be thinking most about their families in times like this. Our condolences to them. Also to be able to say we have got your back. We have got this covered. So, you, as a service member, can always do the right thing knowing that your family is going to be taken care of.”

The Republican legislator then urged people to call up their representatives and demand them to bring the measure to a vote, pass it, and get the governor to sign it.

Chaos at Walmart as woman performs karate, son exposes himself, dog steals food, police say

Chaos descended on a Wisconsin Walmart store Wednesday night after a karate-performing mother, her naked son, and their belligerent dog shoplifted and ran amok in the store.

The Eau Claire Police Department said on social media that the officers responded to a call that a woman, Lisa Smith, 46, and her dog “Bo” shoplifted items from the store. The woman’s son, 26-year-old Benny Vann, was causing chaos in the store as well.

Police learned that Smith came into the shop with Bo unleashed, with the dog immediately running off towards customers while the woman was pulling apart displays in the store and placing them in her cart.

MISSISSIPPI COMMUNITY LEFT CONFUSED AFTER BOWLS OF MASHED POTATOES MYSTERIOUSLY KEEP APPEARING

After being told to leave the store, the woman began showing off her karate moves in the parking lot to fend off police officers.

The dog tried to flee the crime scene, albeit unsuccessfully, with a box of Jiffy Cornbread Muffin Mix in his mouth.

After a brief fight with the officers, Smith was arrested. As a last-ditch attempt, she tried to kick a window out of a police car.

Her raucous son, meanwhile, was getting fully naked and began exposing himself to other customers at the store. He then tried to cover himself with new clothes from the store without intending to pay for them, police said.

FLORIDA DRIVER ACCUSED OF STOPPING FOR MAN TO CROSS, THEN HITTING HIM WITH SUV, ARRESTED

After officers confronted Vann, he threatened to run over them with his scooter, prompting the police to use physical force to stop the scooter and arrest the man.

The mother was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and misdemeanor bail jumping. The son is facing charges of lewd and lascivious behavior, disorderly conduct and retail theft.

The only character to get off scot-free is Bo, the dog.

“Bo was caught by Officers in the store and brought to the Humane Association. The dog was not charged – we issued him a warning for the theft,” police said in a statement.

Former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski is working with a Republican candidate in a longshot bid to dethrone U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.

The freshman congresswoman’s approval rating has dwindled since her election win in November thanks to numerous controversies and a firebrand style that tends to turn off many voters, sparking efforts by both Democrats and Republicans to oust the card-carrying Democratic socialist.

In New York City, Ocasio-Cortez’s favorability rating took a dive after she led an effort to block a deal that would have brought thousands of Amazon jobs to the borough of Queens. Her use of misleading information painted the plan as a massive government giveaway, even though it would have generated billions in tax revenue and 25,000 jobs.

Lewandowski has apparently agreed to serve as an unofficial adviser to Ruth Papazian, a medical journalist, and her campaign to unseat Ocasio-Cortez, New York magazine reported.

Lewandowski was instrumental in helping get then-GOP candidate Donald Trump’s 2016 bid off the ground and into the mainstream — even as polls and critics deemed his candidacy unlikely.

Papazian told Fox News that her bid to run for Congress against Ocasio-Cortez partly stems from the fiasco over the Amazon deal.

“She parachuted into a congressional district she doesn’t even represent and led the parade of grandstanding politicians to tank the deal,” Papazian said. “Instead of fighting to keep Amazon out of Queens, she should have been fighting to bring Amazon to the Bronx.”

AOC FACES BACKLASH FOR USING ‘FIRST THEY CAME … ‘ HOLOCAUST POEM IN DEFENSE OF OMAR

That appears to be an issue that could resonate with voters in the district, as 58 percent of the residents there said they actually supported the Amazon deal, according to a Siena College poll.

At the same time, many residents remain supportive of their representative, with the poll finding Ocasio-Cortez has a 52 percent favorability rating among her district’s voters and that 48 percent of all voters would vote to re-elect her in 2020.

More importantly, a Republican is likely to struggle in the district as it has historically voted overwhelmingly for Democrats, with the majority of politically active residents being registered Democrats.

A top aide to Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign — now leading a liberal “dark money” group — is backing a student effort at George Mason University to get Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh fired from teaching a summer course over misconduct allegations.

A student group calling itself “Mason For Survivors” began circulating a petition last month, so far attracting nearly 5,000 signatures, urging to “terminate AND void ALL contracts and affiliation with Brett Kavanaugh at George Mason University” on the grounds that the justice was accused of misconduct.

GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY ACTIVISTS CALL FOR KAVANAUGH’S FIRING OVER ALLEGATIONS, SCHOOL STANDS BEHIND THE JUSTICE

But the campaign is being given a partisan boost thanks to Brian Fallon, former press secretary for Clinton’s 2016 campaign, who’s now in charge of Demand Justice, a liberal advocacy group that doesn’t disclose its funding.

Fallon and his group are paying for Facebook ads that target anyone linked with George Mason University, urging them to sign the petition, in addition to signing a separate petition that calls upon the Democrats in Congress to investigate Kavanaugh, the HuffPost reported.

“Brett Kavanaugh’s performance during his testimony in front of the Senate was a disgrace. His blatant partisan attacks and hostile behavior towards senators calls into question his ability to serve as a fair and impartial judge. His conduct undermines the legitimacy of his decisions and the entire Supreme Court,” read the ad on Facebook on Friday. “We’re calling on Congress to open an investigation into Kavanaugh right now.”

Fallon justified the move in a news release, saying the allegations raised during the confirmation hearing last year, in his view, were credible.

“Brett Kavanaugh has been credibly accused of sexual assault by multiple women whose allegations have not been thoroughly investigated,” Fallon said. “His confirmation to the Supreme Court does not absolve him of guilt, and he should not be given a platform to teach. We stand with survivors and urge the George Mason University administration to fire Kavanaugh.”

BRETT KAVANAUGH SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED, LIBERAL GROUPS TELL HOUSE OVERSIGHT, JUDICIARY PANELS

Kavanaugh is set to teach students of the university’s Antonin Scalia Law School next summer in the United Kingdom as a distinguished visiting professor, with the class reportedly having no more spaces left due to overwhelming interest.

The Mason For Survivors group, claiming to be a “student-led advocacy group in solidarity with survivors,” also urges the university to release “any and all documents” concerning the hiring of Kavanaugh, in addition to holding a town hall and a formal apology by university officials.

The school’s top officials are expected at a town hall next Tuesday, where they will face questions over the hiring of Kavanaugh.

But the school has so far rebuffed the activists’ demands and issued a statement affirming the hiring of Kavanaugh on the grounds that the university seeks to have students being taught by the “most influential legal experts in the nation.”

“I respect the views of people who disagreed with Justice Kavanaugh’s Senate confirmation due to questions raised about his sexual conduct in high school. But he was confirmed and is now a sitting Justice.”

— George Mason University President Angel Cabrera

“I respect the views of people who disagreed with Justice Kavanaugh’s Senate confirmation due to questions raised about his sexual conduct in high school. But he was confirmed and is now a sitting Justice,” Angel Cabrera, the university’s president, said last month.

“The law school has determined that the involvement of a U.S. Supreme Court Justice contributes to making our law program uniquely valuable for our students. And I accept their judgment,” he added.

Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang appeared on “Fox and Friends” Friday morning to defend his campaign’s key proposal of giving $12,000 to each American adult every year and criticized Democrats for their newfound support for the abolition of the Electoral College.

Yang, former ambassador of global entrepreneurship in the Obama administration and a long-shot candidate for the party’s nomination, was grilled by the show hosts and the audience about his universal basic income program, dubbed “Freedom Dividend,” and his other views.

“You have to look up who are going to be the biggest winners from artificial intelligence and self-driving cars and trucks and new technologies. Amazon, Google, Facebook and Uber. The American people are gonna see very little of the gains in the innovation,” said Yang.

He added that due to an increasing automation, “most of us” won’t work at Amazon or other companies, leaving the rest of the people at a disadvantage because their source of income will disappear.

Yang points out that his idea isn’t new in American politics as Alaska has had a petroleum dividend for about 40 years and remains to be widely popular among the people.

“Petroleum dividend works put aside the oil money whatever profits come out from the pipeline it goes to the Alaskan people. Everyone in Alaska is getting between $1 and $2,000 a year no questions asked.

“We need to do the same thing with technology and the new innovations in our economy. We can create a lot of the wealth. But the question is right now who is going to see that wealth? It’s not going to be most Americans. It’s going to be people who happen to be shareholders in these companies,” he added.

Yang was also asked by the audience on issues other than his bold proposal, particularly whether he believes the Electoral College ought to be abolished, a view shared by leading 2020 presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren.

ELIZABETH WARREN SAYS SHE WANTS TO ELIMINATE THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE

“Getting rid of the Electoral College to me, I don’t even know why we are talking about it in the sense that it has been part of our laws for decades and it would require a constitutional amendment to change Electoral College,” Yang said in response to a question from the audience.

“Do we really just want candidates just campaigning in major media markets and cities? The constitutional framers were very wise. I will say as a Democrat, it’s very, very bad form to look like you’re trying to change the rules when you’ve been losing by the rules that everyone agreed on for decades.”

He also reiterated during the show that his “Freedom Dividend” proposal isn’t a free lunch given to people while making it harder to become an American success story. Instead, he says, it’s a response to a changing economy that will negatively impact communities across the country.

“We have to face facts about the fact our economy is evolving in ways that are pushing more and more Americans to the sidelines and telling those Americans pushed to the sidelines like hey, you can be a multimillionaire success story, too, while Amazon is making 30% of the stores in their town closed doesn’t seem to be honest,” he said.

CNN analyst said Obama’s child separation policy was done ‘for their protection’, slams policy under Trump

A former Obama administration official turned CNN analyst said her administration’s policy of separating children from their families at the border was done “for their protection,” while decrying the same policy under President Trump as “inhumane treatment.”

Samantha Vinograd made the eyebrow raising claims on Tuesday during an appearance on “The Situation Room” with Wolf Blitzer. At no point CNN disclosed to its viewers in the chyron of her work at the Obama administration, where she held a number of roles, including being on the National Security Council.

“When President Obama separated children from their families, it was for their protection. It was if there was a risk of trafficking or other kind of harm that might have been incurred,” Vinograd said.

TRUMP SAYS NO PLAN TO REVIVE FAMILY SEPARATIONS, BLAMES OBAMA FOR UPROAR

“But even if he did do that, why is Donald Trump saying that two wrongs make a right? Again, Obama wasn’t wrong, but so he’s saying that because something happened under President Obama, he’s repeating it and upping the ante.

“That’s an incredibly poor excuse. He’s systemized that inhumane treatment that, again, Obama was doing to protect the children.”

Vinograd’s remarks came after Trump’s said that the policy of separating children at the U.S.-Mexico border is unlikely to come back and blamed Obama for the uproar over the policy.

FROM ‘NO CRISIS’ TO ‘BREAKING POINT’: MAINSTREAM MEDIA OUTLETS CHANGE THEIR TUNE ON BORDER CRISIS AMID ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION SURGE

“Obama separated the children, just so you understand. President Obama separated the children,” Trump said. “The cages that were shown, very inappropriate, they were built by President Obama and the Obama administration –not by Trump.”

“The press knows it, you know it, we all know it,” he said. “I’m the one that stopped it.”

Initial images of cages with children inside that spread on social media last year were from the Obama administration. The photos, taken in 2014 by The Associated Press, were wrongly described as illustrating imprisonment under the Trump administration.

But while some family separations may have happened under Obama, it was not nearly as widespread as it was during the Trump administration, amid a “zero tolerance” policy that led to the separations.

The viral clip of conservative commentator Candace Owens accusing Rep. Ted Lieu, D-Calif., of distorting her comments in such fashion that he must “believe black people are stupid” has become the most-viewed C-SPAN Twitter video from a House hearing.

The Twitter video of the exchange so far accumulated nearly 6.8 million views and appears to be on track to be most watched C-SPAN clip from a House hearing on all platforms.

CANDACE OWENS EXPLODES AT TED LIEU MID-HEARING AFTER HE PLAYS SHORT CLIP OF HER HITLER COMMENTS

“In less than 24 hours, this video is the most watched C-SPAN Twitter video from a House hearing (4.47 million views),” tweeted Jeremy Art, C-SPAN’s social media senior specialist, before the video got another 2.3 million views.

He added that it’s not yet the most watched C-SPAN video from a House hearing ever as it still lacks a couple of millions views – 5 million at the time of the tweet, though the gap has been cut in half since – to be on par with a video from a House hearing in 2017 in which Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos was criticized for not being able to “come up with one example of discrimination that you would stand up for students.”

In the explosive video, Lieu fired the first shot at Owens by playing a short audio recording of her previous remarks at a conference in December, which were widely circulated in February, where she argued that she doesn’t have a problem with “nationalism.”

“I think the definition gets poisoned by elites that want globalism. Globalism is what I don’t want.  When we say ‘nationalism,’ the first thing people think about — at least in America — is Hitler,” she is heard saying.

“You know, he was a national socialist, but if Hitler just wanted to make Germany great and have things run well, OK then, fine. The problem is, he had dreams outside of Germany. He wanted to globalize. He wanted everyone to be German. …”

CANDACE OWENS: HEARING WAS A HOAX, DEMOCRATS WANT AFRICAN-AMERICANS TO FAIL

Owens fired back at Lieu, accusing him of intentionally misrepresenting her views to drive a false narrative.

“I think it’s pretty apparent that Mr. Lieu believes that black people are stupid and will not pursue the full clip in its entirety,” Owens said.

“He is assuming that black people will not go and pursue the full two-hour clip. He purposefully cut off — and you didn’t hear the question that was asked of me. He’s trying to present as if I was launching a defense of Hitler in Germany, when in fact the question that was presented to me was pertaining to whether I believed in nationalism, and that nationalism was bad,” she continued.

CNN’s Chris Cuomo revealed he’s been the targeted of so-called “SWATing” and threw shade at NBC’s Chuck Todd, saying he “ain’t Jake Tapper” and doesn’t have a comparable influence on politics.

Cuomo, who hosts the “Cuomo Prime Time” program, was moved from struggling morning show “New Day” to the prominent 9 p.m. slot last year at the expense of Anderson Cooper’s two-hour show.

FOX NEWS DOMINATES MSNBC, CNN ACROSS THE BOARD DURING FEBRUARY

The move proved to be less fruitful than initially anticipated. In February, while Cuomo’s show was the network’s most-watched program, it was just No. 23 among cable news in general, behind 14 FNC programs and eight MSNBC shows.

Yet this doesn’t deter Cuomo, the son of Democrat icon Mario Cuomo and younger brother of New York’s powerful governor, who told the Hollywood Reporter in a recent interview that he was “built for the battle.”

Yet Cuomo’s style of show, which often addresses virulent anti-Trump talking points, has drawn some detractors, including those who take it too far.

CNN USES ILHAN OMAR’S ANTI-SEMITISM CONTROVERSY TO ATTACK TRUMP, GOP

Earlier this year, a SWAT team descended on Cuomo’s posh beach house in the Hamptons after someone reported a “possible shooting and hostage situation,” a practice calling “SWATing” that endangers the target, sometimes fatally.

“I’ve got to move because it spooked my f—ing wife,” Cuomo told the outlet. “I have people f—ing threatening me on a regular basis. … That’s a whole new reality for me.”

In the same interview, Cuomo took a shot at his network’s NBC competitor Chuck Todd, who hosts “Meet the Press” on Sundays.

“Anderson Cooper is a hell of a lot bigger than any male anywhere on network television,” he says. “I would argue that Chuck Todd ain’t Jake Tapper. Jake Tapper has a much bigger footprint in politics than Chuck Todd does.”
