Ben Shapiro: Israel made a ‘big mistake’ barring Omar and Tlaib from visiting

Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro claimed Thursday that Israel made an error in judgment by barring Rep. Ilhan Omar D-Minn., and Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., from visiting the Jewish state and said the Israeli government played right into the lawmakers’ hands.

“Is this a smart move by Israel? No. It is a very not smart move by Israel,” Shapiro said on his eponymous radio program Thursday.

“If Omar and Tlaib had just gone to Israel and then they had done their little propaganda tour about how Israel is evil and shouldn’t exist — then their ten fans would cheer and everybody else would sigh and roll their eyes,” Shapiro said. “This is actually giving Omar and Tlaib what they want in terms of PR so they can falsely claim that Israel doesn’t tolerate dissent.”

KATIE PAVLICH SAYS TLAIB AND OMAR PURPOSELY TIMED ISRAEL TRIP TO CAUSE CONTROVERSY

Israel announced earlier Thursday they would be barring Omar and Tlaib from entering the country, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying the lawmakers’ itinerary “reveals that the sole purpose of their visit is to harm Israel and increase incitement against it.”

President Trump expressed his dismay over the potential visit on Twitter shortly before the decision was announced and urged the lawmakers’ constituents to vote the two women out of office.

“It would show great weakness if Israel allowed Rep. Omar and Rep.Tlaib to visit. They hate Israel & all Jewish people, & there is nothing that can be said or done to change their minds. Minnesota and Michigan will have a hard time putting them back in office. They are a disgrace!” wrote Trump, who added, “Representatives Omar and Tlaib are the face of the Democrat Party, and they HATE Israel!”

Shapiro claimed Israel had given Omar and Tlaib the press coverage they wanted by rejecting their request and said it allows the Democrats and their supporters to paint Israel as being close-minded and intolerant.

“On an intellectual and moral level, they have no duty to bring in Omar and Tlaib. On a PR level, it’s a big mistake,” he said. “It’s a PR blunder for them to give Omar and Tlaib what they want, which is to make the state of Israel look intolerant.”

Katie Pavlich says Tlaib and Omar purposely timed Israel trip to cause controversy

Fox News contributor Katie Pavlich Thursday accused Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., of purposely stirring up controversy with the timing of their planned Israel trip.

Israel decided to block Omar and Tlaib from entering the country after President Trump expressed dismay on Twitter, following their efforts to spurn Israel with a Boycott, Divestment, and Sanction (BDS) resolution.

“This is not a decision that President Trump has made for Israel. Israeli officials were speaking throughout the night. They’ve been debating this since this trip was announced in July by Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib,” Pavlich said on Outnumbered.”

“They were set up and put in a bad situation by Ilhan Omar… She introduced the resolution, the BDS resolution …which is geared toward eliminating Israel… The day after, she provocatively announced that she was going on a trip to Israel, with Rashida Tlaib, knowing that Israel has a long-standing policy of not allowing people who support BDS into the country. So they set this up.”

ISRAEL BLOCKS OMAR, TLAIB FROM ENTERING COUNTRY AMID PRESSURE FROM TRUMP

Pavlich challenged the notion that the issue was a matter of free speech, and claimed negative action against Israel harms Palestinians as well.

“This isn’t about free speech, this is about them supporting a movement that denies their ability to exist,” she said.

“By the way, BDS doesn’t just hurt Jews in Israel, it actually hurts Palestinians and has eliminated thousands of jobs for Palestinians living in Israel and the West Bank.”

Trump’s Thursday morning tweet referred to the two Democratic House members as a “disgrace” and called on their constituents to vote them out of office. He followed up with a second tweet hours later, calling them both the new face of the Democratic party.

Former acting ICE director Tom Homan: Attack on immigration offices was an act of ‘domestic terrorism’

The former acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Tom Homan, said the attack on federal immigration offices in San Antonio, Texas, should be considered an act of “domestic terrorism,” and he warned against the effects of extreme political rhetoric.

The FBI is calling the early-Tuesday event a “targeted attack” after shots were fired at an ICE building where two floors of administrative and executive offices were housed, according to the San Antonio Express-News. The outlet also reported there was also gunfire at another facility where an ICE contractor was located.

“I think this was an act of terrorism. I mean, look at the definition of terrorism, this is exactly what they’re doing,” Homan said during an interview on “Outnumbered Overtime” on Wednesday. “This is domestic terrorism.”

Homan, who also wrote an op-ed for Fox News on Wednesday about the dangers of left-wing immigration rhetoric, took issue with House Democrats for radicalizing their talking points, and said hate should have no place in policymaking.

ICE OFFICES, WORKERS HIT BY WAVE OF VIOLENCE AND THREATS: ‘WE KNOW WHERE ALL YOUR CHILDREN LIVE’

“We’ve got to stop the hate,” he said. “They say the Trump administration — all hate rhetoric is coming out of there. No, there’s just as much hate rhetoric, if not more, on the left. So when you sit there and vilify the men and women of ICE and the Border Patrol every day — the media outlets, and the people running for president, and the Democratic leadership, that catches on.”

Homan said the escalation has risen to such a high level that most policymakers and government workers need some form of personal security, to protect against physical attacks.

Rudy Giuliani: Why Jeffrey Epstein’s death inside NYC jail is ‘mind-boggling’

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said Jeffrey Epstein‘s apparent suicide should never have happened at the facility where he was being detained and claimed the guards have no excuse for not monitoring him more closely.

“It’s a jail rather than a prison. A jail is a place you hold people when they’re awaiting trial. A prison is where you put them when they finally get sentenced. Those are more permanent places,” he said Tuesday on “America’s Newsroom.”

Giuliani added, “There’s absolutely no excuse for this. What happened here, to me, is mind-boggling. It’s impossible to happen. It’s a relatively small facility. This isn’t Rikers Island… with many, many different buildings. One building. Almost everything is within view if you want it to be, of the guards… The guy was a high-risk prisoner, wasn’t he? He’s a guy that there are probably 50 very important people that have a motive to kill him… We know there are some people that are in a lot of trouble because of Epstein. They know who they are. There’s tremendous motive to kill him.”

JUDGE NAPOLITANO ON EPSTEIN SUICIDE: KEY QUESTION IS ‘DID SOMEONE INTENTIONALLY LOOK THE OTHER WAY?’

He said Epstein should have been under 24-hour surveillance due to the high number of people who had plausible motives to kill him, and claimed he was already a target in prison for being an accused child molester.

“Prisoners don’t like him. He’s alleged to be maybe the most notorious child predator of our generation. Prisoners are strange. Perverts, they don’t like. So they’ll kill a pervert just to kill a pervert,” Giuliani said.

“I don’t understand how anyone can explain not having him under 24-hour surveillance or not checking the camera constantly… The camera wasn’t working. There’s a camera in every part of a prison. Every single telephone call in and out of prison is listened to. Prisons are prisons. Now the federal prison system, I used to be in charge of it in the Reagan administration and then I worked with it for 15 years… The federal prison system is the best in the world… It’s hard for me to believe this could possibly happen.”

He also said Epstein should have been under armed guard around the clock due to his fame and the horrid nature of his crimes.

“His room should have been guarded because there was every possibility some prisoner that got loose would get in there and stab him, kill him, choke him, make it look like he hung… He was the guy they most wanted to kill in that prison. Of all the prisoners there, he’s the guy one of those prisoners would love to kill, just to have that on his creds. And probably nobody would turn him in if he did it. So he would feel a certain sense of protection,” Giuliani said.

“You’ve got to understand a prison… The people running that understand it. It would be very hard for me to understand the explanation as to why this man wasn’t watched 24 hours a day.”

With the conflict over the Kashmir region raging between India and Pakistan, Fox News anchor Bret Baier interviewed ambassadors from both countries on “Special Report” on Monday.

India, which has already gone to war twice with Pakistan over the disputed region, sent thousands of additional troops to the area to secure it and has revoked its constitutional status along with downgrading Kashmir’s statehood.

“I think India’s aggressive, unilateral actions pose a grave threat to a very tense situation already,” Pakistani Ambassador Asad Majeed Khan said. “Unilaterally changing the status of a region which has been seen by the international community over the years as a disputed territory … has really put the region at the verge of a serious conflict.”

He added: “They are trying to rewrite history and they have tried to deprive a people of their identity. And they have unilaterally tried to settle an issue which has been there on the U.N. agenda for almost 70 years.

PAKISTANI PM SAYS COUNTRY WOULD GIVE UP NUCLEAR WEAPONS IF INDIA DID AS WELL

“Let me explain this to you and for your viewers, it is just like one fine morning, someone in Washington decides to split the state of New York into three constituent units — without making any reference to the people of the state. And this is done on top of that state being a disputed territory, duly recognized by the United Nations.”

Baier asked how the two nuclear powers could learn to coexist; Khan said it falls to India’s prime minister to lead the calls for peace.

“I think the provocation clearly has come from India,” he said. “Prime Minister Imran was here. He spoke to you personally. He also met President Trump at the White House. And we’ve been very consistent in making all the overtures for peace to India… Unfortunately, all those gestures have not been reciprocated.”

Khan added, “It is for the United Nations… it is for friends like the United States and other international players — they need to intervene.”

Baier then immediately cut to Indian Ambassador Harsh Vardhan Shringla, who was not physically in the studio and asked for a response to Khan’s claims of overzealous Indian supremacy.

“In India we have 200 million Muslims who live in our country. They comprise 18 percent of our population. This is the second-largest population of Muslims in the world,” he said.

“Prime Minister Imran can’t speak for all Muslims in India. I think that’s not the case. I think what is important is to understand because we are a democracy — because we give a voice to all the people in our country irrespective of religion — there is very little [desire] among Indian Muslims for ISIS or Al Queda.”

Baier asked what India is doing to help deescalate the feud, and Shringla said the country is planning elections, followed by direct financial support to the region.

PAKISTAN’S PM WARNS OF SUICIDE ATTACKS, WAR AFTER INDIA ENDS DISPUTED KASHMIR’S SPECIAL STATUS

“We will slowly open up the situation. At some stage we will have elections. … They’ll have their own chief minister. We will ensure that there is massive development assistance,” he said.

“There is a huge amount of private-sector investment that flows in. What we’re talking about is giving the people… especially the younger people, an opportunity to fully realize their potential.”

Baier also asked about Trump possibly stepping in to mediate and Shringla said the prospect is unlikely to happen.

“President Trump has made it very clear that this is not on the table anymore. That has been the United States’ longstanding policy. The United Nations secretary-general was also very clear, he says this issue will be resolved bilaterally between India and Pakistan” he said.

Ken Cuccinelli is asked if Lady Liberty’s plaque should come down amid immigration changes

The acting director of the Citizenship and Immigration Service office, Ken Cuccinelli, fielded question during Monday’s White House press briefing regarding new immigration regulations. One of the more pointed questions: Should the plaque on the Statue of Liberty be removed?

Cuccinelli outlined the new “public charge” rule that allows the federal government to take into account income and education while reviewing a potential immigrant’s request for a visa or green card. Officials say this will ensure that those who are granted access to the U.S. can be financially self-sufficient taxpayers who aren’t in need of federal entitlements.

CBS Radio’s Steven Portnoy asked if the new rule comes into conflict with the Statue of Liberty’s embrace of the downtrodden. He asked if the plaque should be removed.

“As long as the public charge has been in effect since the late 1800s, there’s also been, almost as long, the words at the base of the Statue of Liberty that read, ‘Give us your tired, your poor…’ You’re implementing a public charge rule for the first time,” Portnoy said. “Is that sentiment … still operative in the United States … or should the plaque come down off the statue?”

Cucinelli said there are no plans to remove the famous plaque and cheered America’s track record as having a wide embrace.

“Well I’m certainly not prepared to take anything down off the Statue of Liberty,” he replied. “We have a long history of being one of the most welcoming nations in the world, on a lot of bases. Whether you be an asylee, whether you be coming here to join your family, or emigrating yourself … I do not think, by any means, we’re ready to take anything off the Statue of Liberty.”

President Donald Trump hit back against his former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci on Saturday and accused him of warping the facts during TV appearances to stay in the public spotlight, but Scaramucci himself later fought back.

“Anthony Scaramucci, who was quickly terminated (11 days) from a position that he was totally incapable of handling, now seems to do nothing but television as the all-time expert on ‘President Trump.’ Like many other so-called television experts, he knows very little about me,” Trump wrote.

“Other than the fact that this Administration has probably done more than any other Administration in its first 2 1/2 years of existence. Anthony, who would do anything to come back in, should remember the only reason he is on TV, and it’s not for being the Mooch!”

Scaramucci responded the next day and said he’s always supported the president, but took issue with Trump’s divisive language. He also accused the president of frequently turning against his allies.

“For the last 3 years I have fully supported this President,” he wrote on Sunday. “Recently he has said things that divide the country in a way that is unacceptable. So I didn’t pass the 100% litmus test. Eventually he turns on everyone and soon it will be you and then the entire country.”

Scaramucci called Trump’s visit to El Paso, Texas, a “catastrophe” this past Thursday during an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, and predicted Trump would eventually respond via Twitter.

“He probably would be mad at somebody for saying that. Maybe he’ll tweet something negative about somebody for saying he didn’t do well, but facts are he did not do well on the trip because if the trip is being made about him and not the demonstration of compassion and love and caring and empathy for those people, then it becomes a catastrophe for him, the administration, and it’s also a bad reflection on the country,” he said.

Anti-Trump Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, said House Democrats should impeach the president to curb his political donor list and stifle his campaign’s fundraising efforts ahead of 2020.

Green appeared on MSNBC’s “Weekends with Alex Witt” on Sunday and cited a poll claiming 51 percent of voters saw Trump as racist. He also said that even if Trump isn’t convicted in the Senate, the process would serve to hurt his campaign coffers.

“Fifty-one percent of the American public believes that the president is a racist,” he said. “Fifty-one percent… It is one thing to want to defeat the president at the polls, but it’s another thing to understand that we have to impeach the philosophy that he’s perpetrating upon society. If we impeach the philosophy, we take on a broader… threat to society than just defeating him at the polls.”

In a Quinnipiac poll released late last month, 51 percent of voters said President Trump was racist while 45 percent said he was not.

Green added, “If he is not defeated in the Senate, he will still run as an impeached president and there will be a good many people who won’t want to hold fundraisers with him — a good many people who won’t want to be in his company because he will become persona non grata to a good many of these wealthy people who are benefitting from his bigotry.”

Green’s comments came after Rep. Joaquin Castro, D-Texas, was highly criticized for publishing a list of Trump donors who lived and worked in El Paso, following the mass shooting at a Walmart there. Trump campaign spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany said actions like this have served only to embolden Trump donors and also have helped create new ones.

“We have historic fundraising. We expect that to continue,” she said Wednesday on “Outnumbered Overtime.”

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine: New gun measures crafted by Second Amendment supporters, will respect due process

Gov. Mike DeWine, R-Ohio, said his state’s new proposed gun-control measures have been crafted by Second Amendment supporters and will respect due process, during an interview on “Fox News Sunday.”

Guest host Bill Hemmer asked DeWine about red-flag law skeptics, saying many of them have voiced concerns about a potential lack of due process and the possible weaponization of such a measure. It would let a judge order the confiscation of firearms from certain people who pose threats.

“The previous governor tried what they called a red-flag law. It did not have the procedure. It did not have the due process,” DeWine said. “We developed this particular bill in consultation with a number of our Second Amendment friends.”

He added, “They have always told me, look, we know there’s some people that we need to separate them from their guns temporarily, or maybe longer than that. But, we’re really worried about due process. We’re worried about a neighbor getting mad at a neighbor and coming over and calling the police and the police go confiscate the guns. So, we put this together with them. It has due process in it. You have to go to court. A judge has to make that determination.”

DeWine also addressed calls for better emotional counseling in schools for young adults and cheered the Ohio state assembly for allocating funds to arm schools and boost mental health options.

“We’ve got to do better in reaching people at a very, very young age. We have, in the budget that was just passed by the general assembly, and I congratulate them for giving us the money that we need, we have the ability now to arm our schools, give our schools the ability to have better counseling, [and] more mental health,” he said.

“Virtually every one of these cases, as you said, somebody’s looked up a long time ago and said, hey, this guy is giving all the signs, antisocial behavior. This guy is a menace and we need to be able to do something. The schools need the tools, we are now giving them the tools to do that.”

The previous governor, John Kasich, also a Republican, recently said he had to resort to executive orders after the legislature failed to pass a red-flag law during his tenure.

Greg Gutfeld: One thing you can ‘guarantee’ about controversial ‘The Hunt’ movie

Co-host of “The FiveGreg Gutfeld, claimed backlash surrounding the Universal Studios film “The Hunt” has been overblown and said the idea of hunting down humans has been a recurring theme for decades.

“Can I defend this?” Gutfeld asked on “The Five” Thursday. “This is an old idea, the most dangerous game. There’s a lot of movies about hunting humans and we have no idea who becomes victorious in this. This is a satire.”

He also said there will likely be a twist in the movie showing the “deplorables” winning the fight and claimed there wasn’t any merit to the outrage emanating from the film’s detractors.

“I think we immediately go, ‘oh my God, they’re hunting conservatives.’ I guarantee you the conservative will probably win and that’s the twist in this,” he continued. “So I think this is much ado about nothing.”

Universal pulled ads for the film in light of the recent shootings in El Paso and Dayton, but stood by the movie’s September 27 release date and are forging ahead with their original plan to have the movie hit theaters.

Others disagree with Gutfeld’s take and see the film as a twisted political statement, meant to help liberals vent about their frustrations with President Trump.

“This certainly shows Hollywood for what it really is — demented and evil. At a time when journalists try to blame President Trump for every act of violence in the world, wannabe Tinseltown terrorists are making sick murder fantasies about right-wingers,” Media Research Center vice president Dan Gainor told Fox News.
